This is probably an unpopular opinion but I don't think dill trusted or got along with Felix she was just doing what he told her to Bec she was scared what would happen if she disobeyed him like c'mon that's the son of the president and she's just a little girl from the most impoverished district , now all the tributes were powerless against their mentors but dill probably had it the worst

I really liked Rebecca, which is a relief because to be honest I was worried she’d be my least favourite part.
Tumblr media
To clarify, my initial worry had nothing to do with Awkwafina. No, my worry was that Rebecca would be a dull cardboard cut-out Badass™ to offset the wackiness of the rest of the film.
Basically (unpopular opinion time *braces for impact*) I thought she’d be the Chloe to Renfield’s Lucifer.. Ren having all the personality and Bec having none - but turns out she was a lot more like Ella from Lucifer (who I adored- ok they’re not exactly the same character but you get what I mean?). Quirky and sassy while also having enough moments to breathe and get a bit more serious/emotional.
And yeah, I did like Awkwafina in the role! She was given good material to work with, and she was fun to watch!
I thought her story was pretty solid. Dealing with a fuckton of corrupt in her workplace, while also having an extra dose of family loss, and later having a confrontation with the villain, which is also pretty sensual - yeah I TOTALLY don’t have a type! 😂
Tumblr media
I also liked her dynamic with Renfield. Ok I should preface this next bit - I like this dynamic as platonic, but I also can see them as a romantic couple. I reckon the chemistry was there and if it did turn explicitly romantic in the movie, that wouldn’t have bothered me. I would’ve been like “aww, good for them!”
With that said, I did like that their relationship in the film was platonic. There’s a recurring theme in this film about the importance of having good friendships when you’re dealing with shitty relationships, and I thought that was pretty cool.
Tumblr media
So, all in all, i quite enjoyed Rebecca. I thought she was funny, and I was rooting for her to win in the end... and yeah, fuck you, Kyle.

shipping ask meme: hector/lemony, kit/justice strauss
(i had to really wrack my brain for things i don’t think you’ve even talked about because you are such a rare pair multi shipper :D :D :D)
thanks mayo this is excellent i love seeing new rare pairs <3
so initially i thought, for hector/lemony, i can see the potential to explore the dynamic of, two people who grew up into adults that their teenage selves would be disappointed with ("she's not just your associate, snicket, she's your sister" vs H's inaction wrt J in tvv) but then once i start thinking about H's inaction wrt J in tvv ...... and then i decided to switch my answer from "ship it" to "don't ship it"
hector/lemony:
Why don’t you ship it?
so when i was still considering answering this ask with "ship it" i was going to make a case about considering hector could possibly survive post-canon, there's a chance of meeting up again, potentially, and it'd be interesting to explore their pre-canon vs post-canon dynamic, the difference of it all, which is not something a lot of pairings get to do because so many people died. but then they never did have much time pre-canon, and post-canon ..... there's jacques's death. i don't know if lemony would be able to forgive hector for that, or even if lemony could, if hector himself would be able to get over it and not that it hang between them. i believe they're good friends in teenage years (good enough that hector visits him) but after all that, too much has happened.
What would have made you like it?
given my previous answer it felt like i might say "tvv happened differently and H's inaction didn't partially lead to J's death" but hector's brief appearances in both asoue and atwq and the contrast in those appearances is what makes his character so interesting. if we removed that, removing that from the books - it's also not what i would've wanted. so it's sort of a paradox, really. the thing that made them impossible for me is simultaneously what made their dynamic so interesting to explore (but not in a romantic way)
Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
their dynamics is really interesting to think about (as listed above) and i believe they were friends, once, and i like that and enjoy that. also hector's iconic first line in atwq "so the butler did it" is delightful and i'd like to think maybe they've discussed mystery novels when they were younger. it's fun!
____
kit/justice strauss
okay admittedly i've never considered them before but i can see it, i think, so i'm going to answer this one as "ship it"
What made you ship it?
bec's horse girl headcanons about kit and justice strauss canonically being a horse thief when she was younger - so i can see them having this to bond over when they were younger! picture kit and strauss, maybe in their late teenage years or early 20s, crossing paths. or maybe strauss stole one of kit's horses (beasme parallel!) very fun to think about. i wish i can give you more details but i myself don't actually know that much about horses aside from all horses are the same color paradox
What are your favorite things about the ship?
i am now imagining that one time kit had to get out of a tight spot and needed to escape someone (possibly the authorities) but couldn't access her taxi or any other cars, and strauss was passing by with horses she just stole and they sort of travelled together for a while. which is a lovely image to think about.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
hmmm .... i am drawing a blank. i don't think there are even popular or unpopular opinions concerning them.

idk if this is an unpopular opinion but people who try to suggest that israel somehow controls america are antisemitic (jews control the world type conspiracy theory) eg a lot of grifters on twt who are using israeli war crimes in gaza to increase their following and spread right wing rhetoric, also happen to be trump supporters (that hinckle guy or whatever his name is)
on the other hand, anyone who is sincerely antizionist and pro-palestine (by extension, anti colonialist + anti imperialist) should also be anti-america and understand that it is actually america that controls israel. israel would be nothing without american support. israel exists to serve primarily as america's colonial outpost in swana. this is why the vast majority of american politicians, regardless of their different parties, are united in their support for israel. america requires israel's continued existence to protect its own imperialist interests in the region. this is why threats to israel are often framed as threats to america by zionists (bec, in a way, they are.)

Hi, I remember you mentioning the importance/significance (?) of fortune telling for Romani people a while ago, would you mind elaborating on that? I thought it was more of a negative stereotype, but is it actually part.of the culture and just presented in a negative way?
Hi! Yeah, sure.
First of, I'm going to preface this by saying that this is most probably an unpopular opinion and I know some Roma would jump at my throat for saying what follows lol.
The thing with the fortune teller trope is that, from what I've seen at least, it's based on Western European depictions of Romani women. Although it has always been present in Western European literature, theater, poetry, from the 16th century onwards, two countries really perfectioned this trope during the 19th century: Germany and France. Two artistic movements that heavily relied on this trope when depicting Roma are Romanticism and Bohemanism. That doesn't mean that other Romani groups weren't stereotyped that way too, it just means that Germany and France cemented this idea of "Romani women as fortune tellers" in a way that still deeply influences modern depictions of Roma.
What I'm getting at, is that this German/French depictions of Roma makes a stereotype of the Romani groups living in these countries. The Romani group living in that region (Germany, France, Benelux) are Sinti. That's my group. And Sinti do practice tarot. I know this because my female relatives practice tarot and they learnt it from my grandma who learnt it from her mother, etc.
So, many, many Eastern European Roma will tell you that this is all just a stereotype and that no Romani person does tarot. That's a lie, it's just that this stereotype derives from Western European Romani groups, so of course Eastern European Roma don't relate. I'm from one of those Western European groups, and I can tell you that we do practice tarot, however tarot was invented in Italy. This practice didn't originate with us, it is not Romani-specific and it's not "cultural appropriation" for white people to do tarot.
However, because it was frowned upon for non-Roma to practice it (because they were supposed to be Good Christians, while the same didn't apply to Roma who were already seen as "mystical"), tarot became associated with us, because for many Romani people, who were socially and economically marginalized, tarot was a good way to make a living by playing on already established stereotypes. So that's why we came to pick up tarot. And because tarot reading started to become a skill we passed down from generation to generation, we did develop some specific practices, specific ways to read it, dos and don'ts, that you don't find in other forms of tarot reading. I can't tell you exactly what those practices are, because I personally didn't learn tarot from my mom, but from what I know about the way my female relatives practice it, it is pretty different from the usual way. So that is a personal take of mine. I know a lot of Roma would disagree with me and call me a race faker for stating this, but I don't see the point in hiding the truth: Sinti do practice tarot. And moreover, forbidding tarot reading has been a way to try and prevent Roma (and Romani women in particular) to earn a living in many European countries. So tarot has some cultural and historical relevance for Romani history, even though it didn't originate with us and it doesn't mean we are somewhat magical creatures (as I'm sure you already know haha).
Some Romani groups, especially the more religious ones, hate any kind of divination, and will frown upon anyone who does (I literally argued about this with a Romanian Romani man the other day). However, that is not my experience and as far as i know, it's not the experience of the Romani people from my group (Sinti), because we made up our own traditions and we respect them as such (usually in Sinti culture, you have to respect what you inherited from your ancestors, I constantly fight with my relatives because I think tarot is b.s and they really disagree lol). The only exception to this are the Sinti who converted to the Evangelical Christian faith and who consider tarot reading to be satanic.
So yeah, that's a personal take about my personal experience growing up in a Romani group that practices tarot, I know it's an unpopular one and that other Roma would insult me for this but I can't help it if my family history and that of the other Sinti I know don't fit into their narrative.

jade harley for the ask game :33 ermm also terezi perhaps
OMG. ON IT BOSS!!!!!!!!!
favorite thing about them LITERALLY SO HARD. whats not to love!!!!! i liked her at first because she reminded me a lot of marcy (hehehe) but shes just!!! so . sweet. she loves her friends so much SO MUCH and i wish i was that cool . smile :)
least favorite thing about them ill say this again. whats not to love?? i think the closest thing to Disliking anything about her is. how she got thrown into obscurity towards the end of the comic. how her arc wasn't quite completed... but i guess everyone shared that issue x0 .. though with her character? like .herself? nuh uh! shes so awesome i love jade
favorite line not really a Line but her entire convo with jadesprite. yeahh girl LET IT OUT!!! YEAHHH!!!!!!! also her convos with callie were very sweet x)
brOTP i don't really know if this counts. but her and bec! i know that's like.. her guardian. but i just wish they had more OnScreen is that the right word time together. they're lovely.
OTP i dont think alot about shipping when i think of jade! but i'd have to say davejade, they're lovely. :)
nOTP pretty hard to pick, uh... I don't take shipping seriously enough to hate any particular ship with her!
random headcanon i have one hundred and one visual headcanons about her i could actually go on and on forever. there's some thin extra awesomesauce to me about how simple her god tier design is in canon because yeah baybee i can EXPAND on that !!! give her long trails of white ear fluff that looks like hair, strange doggy lips. perhaps fluffy arms! my MOST thought about headcanon is definitely my weird sprite-visualizing stuff. i talk about it alot, (or atleast did!) but i havent drawn it in a while so here's a little doodle.
Tumblr media
unpopular opinion alot of my opinions are amongst the popular but... i think jade would be pretty short! pre godtier. i think post godtier she'd gain a foot or so because bec is definitely a wolf and wolves are huge. i used to think she would be tall too, but floralmarsupial's character designs changed my thoughts on that. they're super cool you should check them out if you havent seen them.
song i associate with them bugbear chloe moriondo and roman holiday. both from different lyricstucks i saw with her in them so i always think of her when i see them, i'm bad at assigning stuff on my own so i cant think of anything myself.
favorite picture of them
Tumblr media
YAY!!!!!! this panel is so pretty :)))

🕯️🌻🍬🍬🐚🍅🐝🧩📚
thank you for the ask and the low-level anxiety (you'll see what i mean)
🕯️ ⇢ on a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you enjoy editing? why is that?
i mean, it's not my favorite part of the process, but i don't mind it. i like being able to fine-tune to make sure everything is just right.
🌻 ⇢ tag someone you appreciate but don't talk to on a regular basis
hmm... can i go for an easy out and say the mods at @thebrownstone? 😂 i do genuinely appreciate them, they work really hard to keep that server running, which is so admirable because it is a HUGE server.
🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
perhaps not unpopular, but certainly not common: june is a lesbian
🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
ok i do have. an actually unpopular opinion. but i don't want people to unfollow me for sharing it, because i do think everyone is entitled to their own, this is just mine 😩
i think junopez was an unnecessary addition, and it's kind of annoying how fixated the fandom is on it... please don't unfollow me - threesomes in general just aren't my cup of tea, which is apparently a minority opinion in this fandom and i'm not trying to hate on anyone else for liking those things, i just kind of groan internally and duck out of the conversation whenever it gets brought up because i think it's overrated
🐚 ⇢ do you like or dislike surprises?
depends on the nature of the surprise 😅
🍅 ⇢ give yourself some constructive criticism on your own writing
learn to end a sentence 😂
🐝 ⇢tag your biggest supporter(s) and say one nice thing about them
well. my best friend, first of all, but she's a private person and probably wouldn't appreciate me tagging her 😂 she does not wish to be perceived. that's not the nice thing though !!! the nice thing is that she's not even in any of the fandoms i write for, but she'll still read most of my writing anyway to encourage my interests.
i'm also gonna tag @user-anakin because bec is always there to yell at me when i share a new snippet <3
and @gayrootvegetable too because i cry every time they say they're rereading my fic
EDIT: I FORGOT TO TAG MY BETA/SIDEKICK IDK HOW but omg @44whispers is always there to yell about my WIP with me and help me iron out the kinks, ily muah <3
🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
bad grammar/the whole fic being published as one paragraph/clunky characterization
📚 ⇢ what's the last thing you wrote down in your notes app?
i don't really use my notes app for writing purposes… the last time i did was to keep track of all the overly-pedantic google searches i made while writing It's Nice to Have a Friend, including but not limited to:
whether or not the cowboy emoji existed in 2011 (it did not)
the difference between MI5 and MI6 (national vs international)
how long does a wedding reception take (up to 10 hours depending on the planned activities 😳)
line dancing (i spent over an hour going down this rabbit hole)

31, 58, 99 for the HS ask game!
31. Favorite Sprite?
Nannasprite! She just reminds me of my grandpa, because he was also the trickster type :) and also he told me about supernatural things beyond my understanding
58. Grimdark or Crocker Tier?
Grimdark, absolutely. I've always been especially drawn to cosmic horror and the idea of allowing your rage and grief to consume you so utterly you allow the dark whisperings of the forbidden you wish to study chills me every time. I've been chasing the high of [S] Jade: Wake Up for 10 Years.
99. One unpopular HS opinion you have?
All of the antags after [S] Cascade were just underwhelming. Maybe that was by design or maybe not but like. Caliborn and by extension Lord English are just boring (which sucks because Calliope's entire deal makes me go Insane like i love it). Aranea comes out of nowhere and feels like Hussie just figured oh uhhh shit gotta do something memorable with the new trolls too. Gamzee got done so dirty by the narrative it's not even funny. If I remember right Bec Noir just straight up gets chased the entire act.
HIC I would argue is definitely the most competent villain of the lot and had some interesting things to say about capitalism and consumerism (and by extension, Crockertier!Jane was a pretty alright extension of that) but it's tampered by the fact that she still answers to a boring villain as her boss and just feels like. second fiddle. highly disappointing.

Which ship do you prefer: Superwonder or Clois and why?
To be honest, I find that a touch question when it comes to comic ships, because usually you have one canon that you base your opinion on the ship on, but with comic iterations, Elseworlds, cartoons, TV shows and movies, you could pitch the worst version of ship A against the best version of ship B and give a vastly different answer than if you did it vice versa.
At least for me as a multishipper, and with the ships that are not a hard NOTP. So if you'd ask me very specific versions of the ships, you may actually get different answers from me.
Though, on the overall and going beyond canon, I do of course have my favorite - and it is SuperWonder. But with the multiverse of it all, I wanted to give a more in-depth answer to this.
I first fell in love with SuperWonder because of the animated movie universe, where the two are a couple. That was my first real oh moment. The ease with which the two of them got together, the mirroring between them - these god-like super-powered beings among humans, the struggle to fit in.
Specifically, Clark being a guide into the human world for Diana, a guide who understands her so much more because he has been where she is - trying to adapt, trying to hide his powers, trying to fit in and embrace humanity.
Their shared admiration and love for humanity was also something that immediately clicked for me. You have these two characters that are so much more powerful than any human and could rule like gods, but choose to protect, because they love humans so much.
And then I got to read the New 52 run - and though I hate the ending of it, I do love the way their relationship was written, because it nailed that too. Nailed that trust, that mutual respect and admiration.
And yes, a part of it is for me that they are equals. That, with each other, they won't have to hold back. That they're not with a fragile mortal where they'll have to be careful not to squeeze too tight during a hug (or, ah, other activities), because this is someone with the strength to keep up with them. That this isn't a worry they'd have with each other.
At their best, Clark and Diana elevate their best qualities, their kindness and love for humanity, and better each other. And I love that, I love that a lot.
At their worst, writers like to use them to enable each other into world-domination. Have them elevate each other into godhood. Like their relationship is somehow an... excuse to stop caring about humanity? And those are the ones that... don't work.
The animated movies were the first ones that showed that to me and it was a breath of fresh air after I grew up on a version of Clois that I still think does absolutely not work and did a lot to make me actively dislike that ship.
It was only recently, with Superman & Lois, that I really came around on Clois. And I honestly think that the two ships have a lot in common - which I know is an unpopular opinion because I know the shippers are usually very opposed.
But in well-written Clois, Lois gives Clark strength and represents his kindness and love for humanity too - because she is a reporter who works toward that goal too. She works her own angle, with her own strength, and not as a hero, but she stands for the same qualities.
And what I adore about Superman & Lois and their relationship is the unlimited trust and communication between them. They talk things out between each other, don't charge in without talking about it with their partner first. They have a partnership of equality and trust.
The easy chemistry between the actors helps a lot too - I'm not even talking sexual chemistry, there is a true ease between Tyler and Bitsie that helps sell the trust between Clark and Lois.
Which is also the kind of Clois I've now seen in a couple of the comics and come to enjoy.
It's not the kind you run into all the time - both, in comics or adaptations - because very often, it just gets... short-handed. Like, they're together just because they're together. Because they're Clark and Lois. Which had irritated me a lot, because adaptations shouldn't get to rely on external works like that, they have to do the heavy lifting themselves and have to show that love, show me why these characters care for each other and what makes that love so great. And not just say "it's great because it's them", that's lazy and it doesn't work.
So, as you see, they can both work and can't work, for me. It depends on the writers, if you were to throw different, specific versions of them at me, my answers may shift. But on the overall, for me SuperWonder still has an edge, for one because it was the first of the ships I met and for another because I do still think that the equals on the field angle is one unique to them that is missing.
I do also think that nothing speaks against an OT3 though. Particularly in the older comic runs, back in the day when Clark and Diana were first falling for each other and DC was actively pushing the love triangle (square? Since Steve was there somewhere too?) in main continuity, the interactions between Diana and Lois were spectacular. There was never animosity or viciousness, even when Lois was actively jealous of Diana, there was never anger, she always admired Diana and listed how amazing and perfect Diana was and honestly? Crushing much yourself, Lois?

Unpopular opinion: I really liked the tr ending
Also unpopular opinion: me too
Why so?
Let me tell you why I liked it:
1- After everything Mikey and Takemichi went through, after how it was believed the entire time that Mikey deserved a happy ending, it's exactly what he got and he deserved it. I understand that many may see it as Wakui erasing the traumas and issues characters went through but to me the message was "despite everything you went through, you can still be happy and happy endings do exist, because in a story that's so directly about not giving up, it's a nice message to say that happy endings are real and you can be happy, it's worth it to find the future where you achieve your dream." To me that's what it meant.
2- why would I want characters who have already suffered so much to continue to do so? and its not that everything meant nothing bec both Mikey and Takemichi still remember the events.
3- goddamn it I just want them to be happy, its a cute message to end on, that in the end, everything is ok. there's much more i could say but i accidentally caused discourse last time i did that so ill stop lmao

tbh, idk how to feel.
i hate how ppl are so quick to run with the narrative that z is a manslut lol. the new thing on deuxmoi like?? At this point he should make ppl sign NDA’s like other celebs do bec ppl LOVE to blast his priv life. (As we know, half of Australia is obsessed with his priv life).
Also deuxmoi is HELLA biased towards ppl. Like some ppl are angels in her eyes and she’ll only report stuff that supports her opinion of them and for others she’ll post (even rumours) to support her point about them.
Like remember that girl on the balcony with z - some person said oh she’s this politician and they’re dating and deuxmoi was like yup that’s his gf and we were like uh no she’s not? and even when it was p obvious she wasn’t deuxmoi kept going oh i know for sure he has a gf blah blah. like? idk it was weird.
i mean obviously we don’t know celebs personally AT ALL so we don’t know what’s true or not. it’s just that i always find it hella sus that women report on him ASAP like they almost want smth weird to happen to spread a rumour about? bec if u genuinely wanted to hang out/make a connection u wouldn’t do that? Like there have been a few people who said they had a chance to talk to him for 45 mins just bec they didn’t ask him for a pic or anything just hung out.
but yeah we don’t know anything about celebs. i remem there was an interview with gg and she was like oh v and me we’re both like the female spider, we hook up with men and spit em out. So i mean during the BRIEF time V is ever single who knows what happens. I mean there was that kyle kuzma date (that we were aware of..) but yeah some ppl conceal things much better. Even selena (who everyone watches like a hawk) has been single for ever but she says oh there’s def been relationships/hookups ppl don’t know about during this time. Even taylor swift with matty healy (just cause he’s v odd) etc like even the purest celebs we think of aren’t rly that pure. again ppl can do what they do but i guess we rly don’t know them.
the only thing that made sense was the put ur phones away thing which is def a him kinda thing to do. but the last bit about the 3sum? IDK. also if it happened wouldn’t they say it did… rather than he “asked?” maybe it was like flirtin going wrong idk.
While i will defend him forever, if it’s true i’m like boy get ur shit together. PLZ don’t be another Leo. We want better for u!!!!! sigh. okay rant over lol.
This might be an unpopular opinion but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Zac being a lil hoe. He’s single and he’s attractive. It’d be different if he was in a relationship but he’s not so as long as he’s being safe, I say more power to him
About the threesome part, I know fans don’t want to hear it but I actually believe it. There’s been rumblings of him participating in them for years during his single years. That was probably the least surprising thing (to me) in that Deuxmoi submission.

I'm not trying to attack the person who wrote these tags specifically so I won't reblog from them or tag them— this is basically the expanded and explained version of my unpopular opinion.
**I'm using a more general "you" in my writing.
🔹Missed the Point🔹
I believe these tags entirely missed the point. Maybe this is true for the specific pantheon you worship and the practice you've cultivated. But it is not true for all religions, practices, or pantheons.
That is the thesis statement of my unpopular opinion.
One of the reasons I wrote this was specifically because there was an uptick in generalized neo-pagan interpersonal deity posts. And it got me thinking about how people would treat the Diĝirene in the same way they do Norse Gods or however any particular eclectic neo-Pagan approaches (what they consider to be) deities. Revivalists and reconstructionists are not immune to generalizations either its just more common among non-specific pagan posts.
I went with the short OP but I have a bit more energy to add now
🔹Goodness🔹
"Good authority figure"
What is the definition of "good". I see no reason why deities should conform to whatever any human's definition of "good" is.
Depending on the religion/practice/pantheon "good" is going to mean different things AND the Gods may not always be good. In fact the fallibility of the gods and their inherent nature as not omni-benevolent, is a key concept in my view of The Gods, the Gods are neither all good nor all bad.
Here is an excerpt that shows that what is "good" to a Mesopotamian Diĝir many diverge from what a human may see as "good"
From Ludlul Bel Nemeqi Tablet II:
Tumblr media
🔹Different Views🔹
They're people first
Hard disagree.
Maybe for your pantheon this is true. It is not for me.
I would literally never refer to my Gods as people (Diĝirene, Theoi, and Kamisama*). Ever. Not to mention I barely see some of them as anthropomorphic at all.
*I consider the two specific Amatsukami I worship to be Gods. However, the totality of "Kami" cannot be classified as "Gods" in translation. What Kami are is very specific to Shinto practices & beliefs; and even various Shinto shrines have different theological views.
This difference indicates that we cannot even firmly state what "The Gods" are when looking at the whole of religions, pantheons, and practices present in humanity.
🔹Owing Humans🔹
They owe you respect and you owe them respect on the same level.
If a Diĝir can send a demon after one or 'their hand' if one offends them, and one cannot do the same to them, how is that the same level of respect? If one's only option is to lament for forgiveness, to sooth the Diĝir's heart, and have their favor return to them thats not even remotely the same level of respect. If a Diĝir can "mistreat you" by a human standard then I fail to see how this squares away with "respect of a good authority figure."
From Sumerian A Man and His God:
The man's god heard his bitter weeping. After his lamentation and prolonged wailing had soothed the heart of his god towards the young man, his god accepted the righteous words, the holy words he had spoken. The words of supplication which the young man had mastered, the holy prayers, delighted his god like fine oil. [...] The young man steadfastly proclaims the exaltedness of his god. [...] May your ...... heart be restored towards me. May you absolve my sin. May your heart be soothed towards me."
I can't even wrap my head around the word "owe," in relation to my Gods.
From On Greek Religion by Robert Parker:
Charis: the exchange of gifts and favors as the ideal relationship between man and god. In Iliad book 16, about to make a prayer of the utmost solemnity that Patroclus should succeed in the coming battle and come back safe, Achilles pours a libation to Zeus; the care with which he purifies the libation bowl, a bowl that he reserves for offerings to Zeus, is elaborately described. He does all this because he is about to seek a favor from the god, and the honorific libation is a gift; in an emergency when he lacked time to bring an offering, he could have reminded Zeus of offerings brought in the past, or promised such in the future. He reinforces his present appeal by a reminder to Zeus that the god has already given him aid in the past. What is at issue is not therefore a simple “do ut des,” whereby one gift buys one benefit, but a continuing relationship [...]. Because of the charis ideal, the study of Greek religion is inevitably a study among other things of the cult practices that constitute the gifts made by mortals. Exactly what counts as a gift is a further question. Sacrifices (or libations, or incense burning) and objects dedicated to the gods certainly do; prayers do not, being mere accompaniments to gifts indicating which mortals hope to receive what benefits from which gods in return. A hymn, however, or an elaborate choral performance could “delight” a god and so constitute an offering in exchange for which a benefit could be requested.
Kharis is the relationship building that takes place between a Theos and a person. To put it into simplistic terms: You seek something from a Theos and present them with a gift (libation/offering) -> in return they grant your supplication -> in return for that, you again give them offerings as a thank you. You can also give them other things as a sign of appreciation and strengthening of your ties to that particular Theos; which is why in a pinch you may remind the Theos that you have offered to them in the past and thus will obviously do so again.
You do not need a godphone, communication, divination, or signs from a Theos to develop strong Kharis. I have never had any communication with (for example) Epione. Hekate, Hermes, but my acts of worship are still Kharis.
However, just because I gave a supplication with an offering does not mean they owe me results. If I give offerings to a Theos and they don't grant my supplication, for reasons unknown to me, is that somehow disrespectful? If the answer is yes, then neither the Theoi nor Diĝirene fall into this generalization.
🔹Who Do They Respect?🔹
Everyone on Tumblr (including me) is so adamant that the Theoi do not support TERFs. However, if a TERF prays sincerely, gives offerings, preforms rituals, and is completely respectful and reverent towards the Theoi but the Theoi flatly ignore her... is that disrespectful? TERFs are some of the " 'lowest' followers" in the Hellenic polytheist community in my opinion. The idea "The Theoi respect everyone no matter what; even their 'lowest' followers" and "The Theoi hate terfs and nazis" are two ideas that cannot coexist.
🔹How Do You Know?🔹
This is assuming you can even somehow tell whether or not a God "respects you" which gets me on my very annoyed Godphone soapbox.
Which I usually can't tell, so trying to discern if my Gods "respect me" and are "good authority figures".... is just probably a waste of time.
I have faith the Diĝirene and Theoi know me, love me, expect only my best, but this generalization of some form of equality, same level of respect, that needs verification essentially, baffles me. And I do not agree with it.
🔹Unpopular Opinion... again🔹
No generalization of "The Gods" is good.
None.
Even an agreement on what "The Gods" refers to is different in different religions/practices/pantheons—as showcased by Kamisama.
Trying to generalize "The Gods" is inherently impossible.

-Not audio proof read- portions of this will probably show up in a much later post I'm planning in my drafts since my original reblog of this was very long
Unpopular opinion: how you should interact with deities is different among different pantheons & traditions. Yes, even among "dead" ones. Sweeping generalizations of "deities" is dangerous and annoying.
