aww, sweet. one time, years ago, a mom brought to my studio, her child's most special favorite cuddle toy, to be carefully re-covered with new fabric. this was not that kind of reno that transforms the original, but just gently enclosing the original in a protective layer. i felt so honored to do the job.

Ok so, the dream had kinda like, Mad Max vibes, and my working title is WildLands but I’m not a huge fan and I’m up for change. So the dream essentially went like this:

A woman finds her self in a world not her own, everything is barren and dusty, a desert with sparse towns and fewer life. She’s taken in by a gang willing to help her in exchange for her skills to assist them in this war going on. This… “gang”, however, is rather odd; a grown man, a young adult, a baby and… an alien? Whatever, that’s not important now. The gang and her travel the ‘WildLands’ in search of a way home and a way to come out on top of the fight. Encountering rival groups and bizarre creatures along the way, whatever they are they are dangerous and everything is trying to kill them.

That’s all I got from my dream BUT. BUT BUT I have drawn up some concept art for the characters and brainstormed some backstories. If this comes across some creative people I’d love to hear feedback and ideas and just anything.

By now, there's lots of people have heard about the internal CDC memos for all newly prepared manuscripts (like future scientific papers waiting to be published):

There's so much to comment on, and I'm seeing it all right now. What the state of science is. What this means for the queer community. All of that.

But fuck, I think I might genuinely start crying over this. As a transgender biologist, this feels like a brutally personal blow. I slowly accepted my gender alongside my biology education. The more misinformation that was spewed about "biological sex" by mainstream media, the more my professors, colleagues, and primary sources would casually drop information that proved they have no idea what they're talking about. I'm not an expert on sex determination, gender, or transgender biology specifically by any means. But my worldview has been crafted by my studies in genetics and molecular biology.

Engaging with this research helped me demystify transition. It helped me optimize my transition. It helped me explain how HRT and other steps of trans healthcare work to other people. And it helped me overcome my own internalized transphobia, and finally start transitioning, despite knowing I wanted to since my preteen years.

Who knows how enforceable internal guidelines like this will be. But its certainly going to scare a lot of researchers away from transgender healthcare and science in the coming years, and that breaks my heart.

There's a lot I can say here, but fuck. I just needed to vent for a moment. Fuck.

How to turn off AI Training of your content on Web and Mobile:

On a Web Browser:

I had some trouble finding this option. My first instinct was to click the settings button on the left, but that's where it is!

First, you'll click the name of your blog on the left sidebar to bring it up on your browser.

Then click "Blog settings" on the right sidebar once your blog is brought up. That's where they're hiding it.

Click "Prevent Third-Party Sharing" under the Visibility section, and bam! You're done.

On Mobile:

Thankfully it's much easier on mobile. Just click the Gear icon on your blog's page, to go to settings.

Scroll all the way down until you see Visibility, then toggle the Prevent third-party sharing option for your blog!!

If you disable this setting on mobile, it automatically synced it to my web browser settings, too. ...But if you use both Web and Mobile, I would still highly recommend double checking that it actually turned off on both!!

Check that it's turned off on your side blogs too! And check your settings every now and then anyway to ensure that it's staying turned off, because if my memory serves right, some other websites will pull some shenanigans on things like this and opt you back in without telling you!
