Almost as bad as the rest of his house.” Of course that is equally offensive to Scott as his entire free will being stolen. That tracks. There is still an elephant in the room that Martyn hasn’t seen hide nor feather of at all. “Pearl?” He asks Cleo, almost dreading the answer. “Left already.” Suspicious, but at least it means he only has to deal with Gaslight and Gatekeep here. Or whatever they call themselves. This time. Because this is not the first time The Terrible Honeypot Trio, as they are unofficially referred to at Guild headquarters, have used this exact legal loophole to go after a creep or two. Usually they don’t go for murder and limit themselves to theft and arson. It’s a very lucrative racket for them and they have it down to a science.

Yes, every event for this blog is fanfic friendly :D

Though as I mentioned on my Ominous October post, for events that include multiple short stories, I encourage everyone to flex their creativity and take one of their planned short story fanfics, and at least *attempt* to turn one of them into something entirely original; rebuilding a character and story from the ground up to stand on its own two legs is no easy feat, and that is what makes it so fun!

It really gets your creative gears turning, to make an "au of an existing material" to be something entirely original, and you can be pleasantly surprised about the things you come up with!

As a few people say, its not just a matter of "filing the serial numbers off" -- you have to add in just as much *or more* as what you take out when you are turning a fanfiction into something that is original and completely divorced from its original source material / inspiration, and that is a hard, but very rewarding challenge!

Obviously, this is not a requirement (there's no hard requirements for any of the challenges, other than no cheating, including no using AI),

but if you would like an extra challenge for the short story events and you're planning on doing entirely fan-fiction, I highly recommend trying it out at least once, and seeing where it leads you--

you may find yourself pleasantly surprised by what you find down that rabbit hole!

it’s not done yet, but I really like how a current wips are coming along and I kind of want to share them even though it’s not done yet. It’s supposed to be like one of the celebrity crush wallpaper collages that were super popular back in like 2012, but it’s made up of my own art of a specific character. Right now, I’m doing one for Eddie Munson, Steve Harrington, and the two of them together.

Here’s the progress so far

I haven’t fully decided yet but I think once I’m done with the base collage, I’m going to go back and draw in hearts and emojis to put on top like stickers to really fit the vibe of the 2012 collages

Maybe I am in the minority here, but I truly honestly hope Cody never appears again in The Bad Batch. I think his episode left his fate open-ended in a way that really invites fanworks and allows us to dream up any possibility -- he could have truly defected from the Empire, OR the news of his defection could have been a lie, but either way, the last time we see him, he's questioning orders and trying to act with honor and integrity. I like where it left him.

August isn't over yet, and I just reached my third (and last) word count goal for this month. As I had hoped, the characters have been a bit more forthcoming and the scenes have been a bit easier to write.

I would love to say I'm halfway there, but honestly? The outline went up in flames 10 chapters ago. I don't know exactly where I am going now. All I know is there will be blood 🥰

The thing is, this is the first time I have not been rereading what I wrote. Except for when I needed a detail (now where did I cut her? 🤔) I have not looked back once I finished a chapter. It's one of the reasons* I don't want to do tag games with this WIP yet.

I have no doubt that the early chapters will need a bit more editing to get in line with how the characters turned out, but I might just see this through to the end and not look back until the first draft is done. I hope this will be the case by the end of the year.

In other news, I decided that at 50k, if I still like the idea I had a few weeks back, i would give it a (temporary?) title, so here it is:

“You could stay here.” Estinien breaks the silence and they look up at him. “Instead of going back to Sharlayan.”

“Oh?”

“Aye. There’s more than enough room for you here, and Vtra has informed me the alchemists are set on puzzling out your persistent condition.”

“Who would take care of me?” They ask, stepping over the cracks in the tiles as it gives way to a long worn path that leads up to the Meghaduta.

“Are you used to being waited upon by hand and foot?” He asks with a raised brow and a faint grin.

They smile back at him and shake their head. “Hardly. Still—I am not as hale as I once was; not like when we first arrived in Thavnair.”

They pause at the shores of the pond just outside the Meghaduta; Lily pads tucked against the shore, their delicate blossoms blooming despite the heat of the city.

“I would take care of you.” Estinien admits, folding his arms across his chest.

They stare up at him, looking at him as he doesn’t look back at them.

“You?” They ask.

“The alchemists notwithstanding, I’m sure a familiar face wouldn’t be remiss to have around.”
