“Are you Dolly y/l/n's relative?” The doctor asked you so you nodded.
“I'm her daughter”
“Alright there are some forms you need to fill out” he said to you so you nodded again.
“How's she?” You asked him so he cleared his throat.
“She's in a comatose state for now” you looked at him shocked as he said that.
“Coma? When will she wake up?” You questioned so he informed you that it was uncertain, it could be tomorrow or a month from now.
“How did it happen? The heart attack” you asked him.
“The same way it happens 80 percent of the time, Bad lifestyle, drinking, smoking etc“ he told you as he shifted his attention to Eric who stood behind you, staring in the distance as if he wasn't even there.
“Ahhh that's her husband” you told him so he raised his brows but then he shrugged.
“Then he should fill these forms” he said so you nodded.
“I'll make sure he does, thank you”
As the doctor left you took him to the waiting area and made him sit down, he wasn't even crying anymore, he was just quiet, too quiet.
“Eric?” You called out to him so he looked at you.
“What if she dies y/n ..i can't..what will i do if she dies..i can't lose her, she's all i have”
He had you. But perhaps you weren't what he thought he needed.
Live your own fucking life is what you wanted to say to him but you couldn't, not at a time like this.
“I'll fill the form..then you can sign it” you said to him so he hummed in response. He then went to see her and didn't leave her side until the visiting hour had ended. As you saw him cling to her and cry like a child your heart clenched for him, you were starting to see how fucked up his relationship was with her, he didn't just see her like a wife, he thought of her as a guardian, a motherly figure because he never had it in his own mother.
When he stepped out of her room he signed the forms, there was nothing you two could have done for her and you couldn't stay at the hospital either, on the way back home he was quiet again. And he wasn't talking to you at all even at home, he felt guilty, he didn't know for what, but he did, maybe this was his fault, maybe if he hadn't stressed her out so much none of this would have happened.
The next few days consisted of you two going back and forth from the hospital to home. One afternoon you sat down in the waiting room with him, both of you were exhausted and you didnt even remember when you had fallen asleep on his shoulder, a few minutes later he rested his head on yours and then he was out too, but as soon as he leaned into you and you felt his weight you woke up immediately, you didn't move though, you kept your eyes closed and allowed him to rest.
He needed it desperately.
“Awn such a cute couple” you heard a female staff member talking from a distance which piqued your interest. They probably thought you both were asleep.
“No he's her stepfather..the woman in 411 with myocardial infarction..that's his wife”
“Oh wow..i guess love knows no bound” they giggled together as they gossiped.
Well if they knew that she had fucked him when he was eighteen and she was forty, perhaps they'd draw a boundary there.
If the situation was reversed this would look so much worse, but because he was a guy people didn't really care about it.
That night at home Eric knocked on your door, you were sorting through your laundry so you gave him a smile.
“Hey”
“Hey..i uhh..i wanted to apologise l-” he said to you hesitantly so you straightened up.
“Why?”
“For being so distant..I was so occupied with my own worries. I forgot that she's your mother and you just lost your father and this isn't what you needed” he said softly so you walked towards him.
Truth to be told you didn't feel anything, sure you didn't want her to die, but her being gone for a few days didn't make that much of a difference in your life. As a child she'd leave you for days at a time and you took care of yourself.
“You don't have to apologise” you said as you walked towards him before you wrapped your arms around his slender waist to hug him.
An hour later you sat down in their bedroom as he lit up a joint, he needed an escape but he didn't want to fall back to his old ways so weed would have to do.
“Eric?” You mumbled softly so he hummed in response.
“How did it happen?” You asked him hesitantly so he looked at you with a confused expression.
“What?”
“You and mom”
He shifted a little as you questioned him.
“Don't you remember her toast at our wedding??” he chuckled so you smiled too.
“I do …but I want to hear your side” he smiled as you said that, though it faded slowly as he thought about his life there.
“Boys at the rehab, they were older than me, I had just turned eighteen, they were older and bigger, it started small like everything else, they'd make jokes, pass comments, call me a gaunt looking vampire” he chuckled as he said that. You didn't find it funny though.
They were probably just jealous, he was so beautiful, he always had been, he had such a pretty face, so unique and hauntingly beautiful, he seemed otherworldly.
“Then it escalated, they'd corner me in the bathroom, shove my head in the toilet, stuff like that” you linked your fingers around his own as he said that. He looked down at your conjoined digits, his heart raced at the gentle hold.
“What happened then?” you asked him as you nudged him to continue.
“I'd often walk around with cuts and bruises and she'd tend to them, at first she didn't care much but then I opened up to her, told her about my life, my parents, she was the only person i would talk to there”
“Did you tell her everything about your life?” You asked him, and by that you wanted to confirm if he had told her that he was loaded with a trust fund.
“Yeah.. everything. One night I was in my room just drawing random things when she came” he said hesitantly, his cheeks flushing at the memory.
“And?”
“It's personal”
“You had sex?” he squeezed his eyes at your bluntness.
“No..not at first but she uhh she uhhh went down on me, it blew my mind, I had never been touched like that before, she was soft with me, she'd praise me, call me pretty, tell me how much she was starting to love me and well yeah that's how it happened”
So you were right, she was the one to seduce him, being the broken little boy that he was he fell for it, and you didn't blame him for that, he just wanted to be cared for and loved.
“Is there a part of you that feels wrong about this whole thing?” You asked him so he looked at you curiously.
“No, why? I was an adult”
“Barely Eric. Barely”
“No she uhh she cares for me y/n, i know you have your own thoughts about her but-”
“If I was eighteen and in rehab, and some 40 year old guard there entered my room and licked my pussy, how would you feel about it Eric? Even if this man claims to love me deeply. What I said just now, does it sound right to you?” his eyes teared up as he thought about it. No he didn't think it would be right, he'd even find that man predatory, a criminal.
“It's different ..I'm a man” he argued as if that would change anything.
“That means nothing”
You said as you got up from the floor.
“Goodnight Eric..do try to sleep tonight”
Later that night you were in bed, unable to sleep yourself, thinking about eighteen year old Eric being groomed by your mother. You knew she used men like bed sheets but how could she do this to a boy? A boy who was not even two years older than her own daughter? Was she really that desperate?
At the cusp of sleep you heard a knock on your door, you were about to get up but then you heard the knob twisting so you just laid back down and pretended to be asleep.
“Y/n?” He called out to you so you opened your eyes and sat up a little as if you had just woken up.
“Can't sleep?”
He shook his head as you said that so you removed the covers and tapped the side of the bed, shifting to give him space so it won't be awkward.
He scratched the back of his neck in nervousness before he slipped into the bed next to you.
“Tell me about you, how was your life in New york?” he asked as he propped himself on his elbow, the moonlight coming from the window reflected perfectly on his face, his eyes were glassy from the weed, a curl of hair resting on his forehead made your fingers itch, you wanted to push it back and tell him how pretty he was.
“It was okay.. nothing interesting happened” you told him honestly.
“You didn't fall in love with anyone?”
“No..not really”
How could you when you often found yourself thinking of the man your mother had married?
He placed his head down on the pillow, his lids becoming heavier with sleep now, all he needed was to be next to you, he wanted to feel safe.
“She'll be okay right?” He asked you, his voice carrying a sense of hope as if you'd know whether she'd wake up or not.
“Yeah..she will be” your eyes remained glued on his face as he slowly drifted off.
When you were assured he was deep in sleep you finally pushed that strand away from his face.
“So pretty..it hurts” you murmured softly before you shifted away from him as far as you could without falling off the bed.
You had to, you'd have done something really stupid if you hadn't.
For the next week, Eric had a routine, he'd wake up, get ready and then take you to the hospital. Everyday he'd buy your mother's favourite flowers and change the old ones from the vase in her room.
Then he'd just sit down and talk to her as if she'd hear his voice and wake up. You'd often find yourself feeling jealous of your own mother, the attention he gave her, the love he had for her made you feel uneasy but also made you feel terrible for him. He might have aged a little but deep down he was still just a boy who thought he was in love with this woman who had done nothing but hurt him, perhaps you'd have accepted this fucked up relationship if she was nice to him, if she had given him the love and care he deserved after that horrific childhood but she didn't. She only wanted to use him.
She abused him, she hit him, she hurt him, she broke his confidence and made him believe that he wasn't good enough to do anything but be her husband, she was destroying him and she had convinced him that this was all he deserved in life.
Two days later she woke up from the coma, and when she did, her doctors told you both to keep her away from stressful situations and to take the best care of her.
When she came home, Eric became her private nurse. You tried to do whatever she asked but she didn't really ask much from you, only him. She'd keep him on her beck and call from morning till night, and he'd do it all with a smile. Thanking the gods that they didn't take her away from him.
One night he was in the bed, massaging her legs as it ached when she looked him up and down with suspicion in her eyes.
“What did you two do behind my back?” She asked him as she placed her feet on his shoulder.
“What do you mean?”
“You know what I mean”
“I don't..me and y/n ..she's my stepdaughter..I'd never even think of it, we just took care of each other like a family”
He said to her as earnestly as he could. It wasn't the whole truth though, he had thought about it but he wouldn't act on it.
“Like a family huh? Did it involve fucking each other?” his eyes widened in horror as she said that.
“Dolly-”
“Shhhh” she placed her toes on his lips to cut him off.
“I see the way she looks at you babyboy, she's my daughter, i know her well” he was going to say something, defend you but she pushed her toe into his mouth, wanting him to suck on it but he tilted his head back, that's when she got up and slapped him harshly.
She then grabbed him by the hair and pushed him down on the bed,
“When mommy wants you to do something you don't push her away..have you forgotten how to show me love?” She asked him so he shook his head in response, eyes tearing up, he didn't want to stress her out.
That night went like most of the nights whenever he would do something she didn't like.
“I love you so much baby boy and you make me do this to you, i hate to be the one to teach you what it means to be a man but who else will hmm? Mommy gotta do what's best for you isn't it?” She asked him once she was done fucking him and slapping him around to her heart's content so he nodded in response.
“Now wipe those pathetic tears and bring me a cup of coffee” she said to him as she laid back against the bed so he immediately got up “Doctor said to not give you caffeine” he said softly as he pulled up his pants.
“Then make it decaf? Do you need a manual??” She asked him, for some reason she was extra mean today. As he stepped out of the bedroom you were on the couch watching a movie, the moment you saw his red cheeks you followed him into the kitchen.
You didn't say anything, you just stood there and stared at him as he prepared the coffee for her,
“You want one too?” He asked you so you shook your head.
“Did she hit you again?” You asked him so he sighed.
“I'm not having this conversation with you y/n”
You walked towards him as he said that, without saying a word you just cupped his cheeks and caressed it before you got on your tiptoes and hugged him as tightly as you could.
“Y/n I'm okay” he chuckled softly as he hugged you back.
But you hugged him as if you were hugging him for the last time. And that was partially true.
Next morning you packed your bags and informed your mother that you were moving someplace else. Eric's eyes teared up as he heard that. You were leaving him again weren't you?
Your mother though, she was happy as ever, her eyes twinkled as she hugged you tightly, asking you to stay in touch.
As you ran upstairs to grab your bags Eric followed you, he heard Dolly's voice calling out to him but he pretended to not hear it for once. He needed to convince you to stay.
“Why are you doing this?” He asked you as he grabbed you by the arms and turned you to face him.“What did I do? Did I do something wrong?” He asked as his eyes welled up with fresh tears
“You didn't do anything Eric, that's the problem” He looked at you, feeling ashamed of himself as he had disappointed you.
“I can't..be here and watch you like this, watch you get hurt every other night and then have you act as if it doesn't bother you at all” your voice cracked as you spoke.
“Please don't leave us ..we need you” he said softly, pleading with you to not go.
He didn't want to be all alone again. He didn't want to be all alone here with just her. He wasn't a child, he knew she hurt him sometimes, and it hurt him too , it always did the way she'd flip and change, but since you had came back he didn't feel so bad about it. Every time she hurt him he wanted to cry but the moment he saw you, the moment he found you around the house, just existing, it made him feel happy again, just having you in the same space as him was enough. It made his pain bearable.
“No she doesn't need me Eric, you know that very well” you raised your voice as you tried to pull yourself away but he didn't let go.
“I do..i need you..y/n please..i need you ..don't leave me” he begged as he held onto you tightly so you looked up at him.
“I love you Eric..i love you so much and I can't watch you like this, I can't stand here and watch her ruin you the way she ruined my father”
The moment the words left your mouth you regretted it. The look on his face changed completely, he let go of you as he repeated the confession in his head, he seemed shocked, surprised and terrified and pleased. So pleased.
He was going to respond but then you both heard Dolly screaming murder down there so he ran back to her like he always did. He thought she had gotten herself hurt or that she had another attack, so he ran, he ran with all his might and that's when he tumbled down the stairs.
And that's when she screamed for real this time, as you stepped out of your room and saw him laying motionless on the ground below, blood dripping from his head, you felt as if your heart would cease to beat.
Your mom just stood there, tearing up, looking scared, for once you saw something on her features that resembled concern for him but was that because she feared he was dead or was it something else?
“I didn't..i didn't want him to fall I swear, he just slipped” she mumbled mindlessly, you immediately ran down the stairs and turned him on his back, you checked his breathing and pulse and he seemed okay in that regard.
“Don't just stand there, call the fucking ambulance” you screamed at her so she snapped out of the catatonic state and picked up her phone.
“Eric.. oh god” you couldn't stop the tears from streaming down your face as you looked at him.
An hour later you stood in the hospital again, this was the third time you had been here in the past few months and for three different people.
Two of them that you loved so dearly.
He had hit his head but he was fine, the doctor informed you that his MRI was clear and there was no internal bleeding. He had broken both of his arms though and would have to be in a cast from his fingertips to his shoulders for weeks which seemed terrible but at least he was okay. That's all you needed.
The nurse gave you a prescription slip so you walked towards the medicine counter, your Mom was in the waiting room, you wanted to ask her if she'd like to eat something since she had to take her medicine as well but you halted at the door as you heard her talking on the phone.
“God Beth I was so scared. I thought he died” you heard her speaking to her friend so you just stood there and listened. Perhaps this incident would awaken something in her and she'd start to love him the way he deserved. That's what you had hoped for but then she said something that made the hair on your neck stick up.
What did she even mean?
“No no he's fine now.. broke both of his arms like the little piece of shit he is. Whatever.. I'll just have to keep an eye on him until he's twenty five..then he can go to hell for all i care..just two more months”

#NO SLEEP OF THE INNOCENT. NOT FOR YOU: character study.#the concept of having a complicated relationship with one's sibling.#because ryuuji was the second born and thus the responsibility of taking care of him was given to misao most of the time she found herself-#being jealous of him sometimes. and misao felt very guilty because of this but she just wanted to be a kid for a moment. so sometimes she-#would imagine that she was ryu instead of herself and their roles were reversed because misao would just get so overwhelmed with things-#that this was the only way she could cope with it at times. which is sad in every sense of the word but misao knew that it wasn't ryu's-#fault at all that thing's were this way. it wasn't anyone's fault really but it was so much easier to place the blame on him subconsciously#sometimes because the alternative was blaming herself for not being strong enough to be both a caretaker and a child at the same time.#and that was perhaps even harder for her to think about because misao has always strived to be perfect. and i mean this in everything-#she does. she wants to be the 'perfect psychotherapist' the 'perfect lover' the 'perfect friend' and it is a LOT of pressure to be honest-#to be putting on yourself especially when you are not fully equipped to open yourself up to people about how you are struggling because-#you've dealt with things on your own all your life. but yeah. misao might've felt resentment towards ryuuji even though it was misplaced-#though she also felt a great deal of platonic love towards him and even if the whole world were against him then she'd still be on his side#but misao has been out of contact with him for the longest time and doesn't even know if he is alive anymore. and she is kind of scared-#to inquire someone to find out for her like a private investigator or something. because i think misao would not be able to take both her-#mom and her half-brother dying because at the end of the day ryuuji is her last remaining family member. and he understood her-#in ways that even she couldn't understand herself.

Nanami single dad au
Fluff-ish, Nanami’s sweet as hell in this
Tumblr media
The blond man in the office always kept to himself. He was a hard worker and hardly talked to any of the other coworkers unless it was necessary. That's why, when you asked him out, he was in utter shock. Why would you want to go out with him out of all people? He asked himself.
He didn't say no though. His eyebrows raised and he asked you to clarify that you were actually asking him out.
"It's alright if you don't want to-" You began, but he cut you off quickly.
"No, no." His hands waved you down. "I'm..." He thought for a bit before speaking again. "I'm free Friday night. How does 7:30 sound?" He asked.
"I would like that." You responded, a slight smile tugging on your lips as you were excited he accepted. You were already picking out your clothes and looking for a new makeup look to impress him.
...
You'd been out with Kento for a couple of months already. It seemed like things were going well until he put on a serious face and cleared his throat.
"Miss y/n, I have to be honest with you on something." he began to say.
Your heart began to beat quickly from anticipation. You were worried it would be something bad. "Go ahead." You nod.
"I've enjoyed spending time with you, but it has been selfish of me to keep this going without telling you the truth." It seemed like he felt really guilty as he looked down at his clasped hands on the table. But if he enjoyed time with you, what could be wrong?
"I... I have a kid." He said as he looked up at you through his glasses.
Your eyes widened. You hadn't really expected him to be a father. "A... a kid?" You blink.
"I assume you wouldn't have known that before you even asked me out. I understand it's not a situation any woman would be willing to jump into. So, I wouldn't fault you for deciding to not go out with me again."
You begin to think, was there a sign you missed? Was it obvious? Wait... does he have a wife? You snap out of your thoughts. "And your wife?" you asked, not realizing how blunt you sounded.
His face shot up at the blunt question. "She... she passed away..." He looked away, now having a solemn look on his face. "Like I said, I understand if you don't want to continue-"
"Do you have pictures?" you asked leaning forward a bit. His eyebrows raised in the middle.
"Pictures?" He asked.
"O-Of the kid... how old are they?" His hand hesitantly pulled out his phone. He wasn't sure what this meant.
"His name's Yuji. He's 3 years old. He's a troublemaker but he's a good kid." He looked through his photo app for that album he had of Yuji. You could tell he was proud to have him as he showed you the pictures, telling you the backstory of each.
If you didn't already have a fat crush on this man, you definitely did now. The way he smiled at his kid was too cute.
When he finished showing you the pictures, he set his phone down and sighed. "I... appreciate you being this kind to me. But as I said, I don't expect you to want to jump into this situation. You're a young beautiful girl who I'm sure will find a man who doesn't have someone else's kid. It's a big burden-"
"Kento..." You cut him off. You didn't want to hear him be so somber on his "situation". Especially when you think about how proud he is of his kid and how hard he must work for him.
"I... I like you a lot. You having a kid isn't some kind of burden. We're both adults."
"I know that, I just don't want you to force yourself into a role you're not ready for just because you want to be with me."
"You're not forcing me to do anything." you grab his hand. "I'm deciding I still want to go out with you."
"You... you are?" He seemed touched but also in disbelief. You nod. You always knew how to surprise him. He wanted to believe it. That you were different, maybe that you were even the one that he was meant to be with. You were perfect. That's why he hadn't told you sooner, he wanted to hold on to that fantasy a bit longer. But he knew he still had to be realistic. After all, you could change your mind at any point.
Later that night, he drove you home. He opened the car door for you as you stepped out. He leaned onto the car slightly as he looked at you. "You're a very lovely lady, y/n..."
You smiled, getting closer to him as you adjusted his already neat tie. "And you're a very lovely gentleman, Kento." Your hand then flattened against his chest as your eyes made their way up to his. His head was tilted looking down at you.
Slowly, you came closer and his hand came up to rest on your waist. Your lips slowly join together with his. For a second, you pull back, just to join them again but with a bit more passion. Your hand made its way to the base of his neck as he pulled you closer. It was getting harder to leave it as just a kiss goodbye.
You wanted him. And you wanted him bad. Your breaths mingled together as your heads tilted every so often to deepen the kiss. Hid hand couldn't help but make it's way down your waist, close enough to grab your-
Beep, beep.
His phone rang and he pulled it out. He breathed heavily as he read the message. "That's... the babysitter." He explained before putting it away. "I'm sorry. I have to go." His eyebrows tilted up in the middle, feeling guilty once again for cutting things so short.
You breathe out. "It's... it's alright. Don't worry about it." You step back a bit to allow him to leave. He wasn't sure but he knew it could very well be the last time you both go out, regardless of what you said. You could've just been trying to be nice and just let him down easy later or decided to ghost him. And he didn't like that this was how the night had to end.
...
Things had gone normally for the next few weeks. You'd talk to him whenever you could at work, spend breaks together, and go out on the weekends. It seemed like things were going well.
Then, one day. He saw you at your desk while some guy leaned over it and spoke to you. He looked like he was closer to your age. And he had you laughing.
Kento wasn't a jealous person, but for some reason, he felt a pang in his heart. Like you could be taken from him at any moment and his fantasy would go down the drain. Especially when he though that's what you deserved. A guy your age who you could decide to have a family with.
Instead of walking over to say hi to you like usual, he just passed by to go to his own desk. You hadn't even noticed, since you'd been busy talking to the other guy.
Later in the day, Kento heard your voice call to him. He looked up from his computer to see you standing next to him. "Hey..." He said with a soft smile.
"Hey... I know we usually go out on Friday's but I'll have to cancel today." His heart had that same feeling again. Could it be that you realized you'd be better off without him? That the other guy was better? Maybe you'd decided to go out with him instead.
"Oh..." He said, his eyes looking away from you now. That's the one thing he always looked forward to after work.
"It's not anything serious, I just-" Then your watch began to ring. You had a meeting to go to, just sparing a minute to talk to Kento. "Sorry, I'll talk to you after the shift, okay?" You said as you left.
Kento wanted to tell you he was leaving early. The daycare only had a half day today. Of course, you wouldn't have known that. You don't have a kid, you wouldn't keep track of when schools are open. So he decided to text it to you, seeing as he won't see you that day at all. He'd have to wait until you texted him back, or until Monday to see you again.
But you never did. Not that day. Not the rest of the weekend. Was he right? You were ghosting him? Were you that type of girl?
...
On Sunday, he went to the grocery store with Yuji. It was raining, but they were in desperate need of food. So he just zipped up Yuji in a cute yellow jacket, carrying him in one arm as his other hand carried an umbrella over both of them.
It wasn't anything special as he walked around the store with Youji's hand holding his. Except, he couldn't stop thinking of you and what you were doing. Why you hadn't responded to any of his texts. He'd read a can and slowly get distracted by those thoughts until Yuji pulled on his hand because he got bored of that aisle.
After long enough, he picked up Yuji again, the other hand full of groceries and the umbrella. As he turned he saw... you.
He froze for a second, unsure if it was his imagination. You didn't live on this side of town, why would you be at the grocery store here?
"Papa, are you gonna move?" Yuji asked, poking Kento's face. "Y-Yeah, we'll go home."
When you heard that familiar voice, you looked up. His eyes widened as he realized it was truly you. You were wet, with nothing but a sweater on to protect you from the rain. No umbrella, no jacket. Just the awning of the store you stood under.
"Kento?" You called out. Yuji looked at you too, unsure of what was going on. Why was it so quiet? He just wanted to go home.
"Who's that?" He asked, pointing in your direction. "She's... a friend from work." You weren't fond of that response, but you knew how careful Kento had to be when the relationship hadn't even been established yet.
You were endeared by Yuji. He was even cuter in person. "Oh my God is that Yuji?" you got closer pinching his chubby cheeks gently. "Aren't you the most adorable thing ever?" Yuji definitely enjoyed the attention. He was giggling a lot.
"He likes you..." Kento said as he looked at his son's expression. "What are you doing on this side of town? You don't live near here." He couldn't help but feel curious.
"I left my phone at the office and the boss said I'd only be able to pick it up today. Halfway through walking here, it started to pour, can you believe that?" Your eyebrows furrowed as you frowned.
"Bad luck, huh?" he said, trying to keep it light although he was slightly upset with you.
"Don't get me started." You looked at him with a frustrated expression, but it also felt aimed at him for some reason? But he couldn't tell why you'd be upset with him.
You held your own arms to keep yourself warm again as you turned your body away from him. "My house isn't too far from here, we should get you out of this rain." He moved his umbrella so you'd be under it too.
"Fine." Although you were upset, you couldn't deny you were freezing, and the office was still a long walk from here.
The walk home was quiet and Yuji had fallen asleep in Kento's arm. As he grabbed his key and began to unlock the door, he began to say "I would've invited you here on better circumstances, but-"
"It's fine." You said, not bothering to sweeten up your tone.
He took that as a sign that you were upset and didn't push any further. He led you in. "I'll be back in a second, I'll just go put Yuji down."
You stood by the door, sopping wet. You didn't sit down, as to not wet his couch.
He came back with some clothes in his hand, presumably for you to change into. He chuckled lightly as he looked at your usually perfectly styled hair frizzing up into curls. "Curly hair?" he asked as his hand picked up a strand an grazed it. It was funny to him that you two had been seeing each other for a while and he didn't know until now.
You turn away, your hair falling from his grasp.
"Miss y/n, I can't help but feel you're upset with me."
"Why wouldn't I be upset?" You said as you looked up at him.
"I don't know. You haven't told me. If anything I'm the one who should be upset with you." His own eyebrows furrowed at your hostility.
"Upset with me? You blew me off on Friday." You defend.
"Blew you off? You said you were busy."
"I meant when I was going to explain why I was busy. I waited for you but you didn't show. Next thing I know, the boss tells me you left early and you didn't even bother telling me?"
"I did. I texted you. Several times actually, and you didn't respond to any of them. I understand I told you that you're not obligated to continue going out with me but I had at least expected you to tell me." His eyebrows tilted upward again. You could tell he was just upset but hurt too.
"That's not it at all! I was not ghosting you if that's what you think." You defend quickly.
"You... weren't? Then why didn't you send a text back?" He asked, his shoulders relaxing just a bit.
"My phone had broken at the office and I wanted to go get it fixed on Friday, that's why I said I couldn't go on the date with you." You explained.
"That's why... you didn't get my message..." He realized. His hand runs through his hair in relief. You hadn't changed your mind.
"Why would you think I'd ghost you?" You asked, crossing your arms. Just a bit shaky from the cold.
"You're freezing, miss y/n. You should go take a shower and change." He lightly guided you to the bathroom.
"Kento, wait. You have to say why you thought that." You turned around to face him when you got into the bathroom. You didn't want him to get away with that. Did he really think you'd do that to him? He thinks you're the type of person to do that after a while of dating?
He sighed putting the clothes on the counter and leaning on the doorframe. "We can discuss it after you shower, okay? I don't want you soaking wet and freezing, you'll catch a cold." His thumb came up to your cheek to lightly caress it. "Please?"
Your cheeks tinged pink and your heart raced. You were still a bit upset but you couldn't help but be touched by him caring for you like that. "Fine," you mumbled, slowly closing the door and starting the shower.
...
You come out of the bathroom, practically swimming in his big clothes. He waited for you on the couch, reading a book in his comfy clothes as well. He looked up at you. "Too big?" He asked, holding back a smile. It was a bit attractive seeing you in his clothes like that.
You scoff, also holding back a smile. "Only cause you're too big." You walked over to sit next to him, not too close. You bit your cheek as you continued to hold your grudge. "So?" You asked, glancing at him. Hinting for him to explain now.
He sighed. "It's not anything against you, y/n. I just... haven't had the best experience with these things. Usually, women run at the first hint of me having a kid. That's why I gave up dating for a while. And when I saw you with that guy, I thought you might've changed your mind..."
You raise an eyebrow. "That guy?" You had to recollect your memories to figure out what he was talking about.
"On Friday. He was by your desk and making you laugh and everything. I thought you realized you'd be better off with someone like him."
"You thought I ditched you for him?" You asked, a bit in disbelief. Sure, maybe a different girl would've but... you were head over heels in love with Kento. Some random guy wasn't gonna change that. "That guy... has nothing on you, Kento." You admit. Your hand reached for his. "I told you, I like you a whole lot..." your eyes move from your hand to his face. "Do I not say it enough?"
"Well..." his ears began to heat up. You said it more than enough. "I just thought since we haven't established anything yet, you'd still look for other options. After all that would be fair."
"Are you looking for other options?" you ask.
He shakes his head slowly.
"The only reason there isn't anything established is because you haven't asked for me to establish it." You explain.
"Would... you want that?" he asked, his hand tightening its grip on yours a bit. You nod in a way that says 'duh'. He was usually a smart man, hell, he was the best employee in the company, but for some reason, he always second-guessed himself with this relationship.
He got up, not saying a word as he left. You were left a bit confused, you weren't sure where he went or if he was coming back.
But he came back quickly. He had a bouquet of roses in his hand and a box. Your eyes were wide. "This was meant for last Friday. Unless you'd like me to wait until next Friday. We're not out or well dressed so maybe it's not the best-"
You cut him off again. "What's that for?" You asked, looking at the things in his hand. He sat down next to you. "I was going to ask if you wanted to... be my girlfriend?" He asked. He placed the flowers on the table and handed you the box. "It's a necklace."
You were in shock. You really missed out on a great proposal just cause your phone broke? "Kento, you're so sweet. Of course, I would."
You placed the necklace next to the flowers, kissing him immediately. "I'll... do it again on Friday..." He said between your kisses. You didn't care. All you cared about was him. "New flowers... dinner... I'll ask again... make it special..."
...
You were nestled into Kento's arm as you both watched a movie. Kento fell asleep first. So he didn't notice when Yuji came out of his room searching for him. He dragged his blanket on the floor as he rubbed his eye.
Without a word, he crawled into the space between you both, nuzzling into Kento as he placed his own blanket on himself. You couldn't help but feel this sweet moment was exactly how your life was meant to be.

Virgins ~ Haikyuu & BNHA men x Male Reader
How Daichi, Kuroo, and Lev are during their first time with you - as well as: Bakugo, Kirishima, Denki Top!Characters x Bottom!Reader Characters are aged up!! Word count: 2.3k Nsfw / MDNI ~ amab m!reader / FDNI
Tumblr media
Virgin!Daichi who never wanted to impose on you or seem like a perv, so you had to make the first move. The Karasuno captain would get overwhelmed with just kissing, so when you suggested that you take things further, the man almost short circuited. Sure, he could handle making out with you, with your legs around his waist or his knee just below your crotch, but that didn't mean that his mind wasn't RACING whilst your tongue was toying with his. So when your (overly-)kind boyfriend heard you offer him a blowjob, he couldn't even look you in the eyes or he knew he would fold, subsequently bombarding you with "you don't have to" 's.
Virgin!Daichi who couldn't control the plethora of moans and whines and chants of your name as you skillfully went to town on his dick. You didn't mean to overwhelm your cute boyfriend, but you did want to make him never forget his first bj; so you may have pulled out all of your best moves. You were complimenting him non-stop, on his looks, his voice, and most of all his thick, veiny, uncut dick which you "loved shoo much". Anytime Daichi would tug on your hair just a little tighter, you quickly yet effortlessly pulled off of his dick and just looked up into your boyfriend's eyes, while his pretty impressive dick rested on your face; covered in your spit and showing off just how big it was compared to your face. And in the same way that Daichi could barely take his eyes off of you, you couldn't take your eyes off of Daichi. He just looked so fucking hot; fighting the urge to shut his eyes and drown in the pleasure just so that he could keep looking at you, Daichi's mouth would fall agape more and more the longer you worked his cock and his tongue show it's pretty pink surface once in a while, oh and the way Daichi's muscles would flex! His pecks and abs would tense as his muscular arms showed off his veins, all because of your magical mouth; Daichi's fingers gripping your hair tighter and his blissful look turning into one of raw pleasure as he came down your throat, his eyes shutting tight and then opening once more, only to be rolled to the back of his head as his hips give tiny jolts of pleasure.
Virgin!Daichi who had never felt the way he felt then. Not even just sexually! Although it was true that he'd never felt such pleasure before, he'd never been so fucking hard, and so fucking horny, and SO FUCKING ATTRACTED TO YOU. But also, in that moment he felt so much love! He just really fucking loves you. You took such great care with him and were so patient, Daichi felt guilty that he couldn't verbalise his love and thankfulness in the moment; but that was mainly your fault after all...
Tumblr media
Virgin!Kuroo who gets visibly excited when you suggest having sex. Although the volleyball player seems to have tons of charisma and charm, he's always been too busy with college and volleyball to focus on relationships. That was until you came along, and along with you came Kuroo's buried sexual desires; and they took over. The handsome man didn't wanna scare you off though, so he stuck to thinking about you as he jerked off and being the perfect, non-creepy boyfriend instead. But holy shit did things change when you asked him if he wanted to fuck. The smile on his face didn't fade until a new, even happier expression took over, and then a smug expression...
Virgin!Kuroo who can't contain his excitement, running his smooth hands over every inch of your exposed body; of course, finishing his exploration and setting up camp on your plump ass, squeezing your cheeks and kneading them like dough. Kissing Kuroo in this moment was different, the love was still there like always but he felt more dominant; his tongue guiding yours instead of you guiding him like before. As the two of you made out, Kuroo manuvered your body to be below his, and quickly the man broke the kiss and trailed his way down your body with little pecks and bites; SINCE WHEN DID YOUR VIRGIN BOYFRIEND HAVE SO MUCH SKILL??!!?!
Virgin!Kuroo who gets too impatient and shoves himself inside of you a little too quickly after promising to go slow... You expected it though, you could see it on his face; when Kuroo slowly slid his tip inside, his eyes widened and his smile dropped into a pleasured sigh. The room was filled with Kuroo's horny, sexy moans. His groans echoing inside the bedroom along with the soft sound of his thighs smacking against yours at a slow pace. Kuroo was above you, brokenly moaning your name and whining at your tightness, his face flushed pink and his eyes hazy with love and lust; your boyfriend was cock-drunk off of you, unable to think straight because of how good he felt being inside of you, being near you, kissing you.
Virgin!Kuroo who has never been the same since fucking you. This man is the horniest piece of shit known to man, you two fuck like every other hour!! He's such a bad influence on you, 'cause he knows you can never say no to him; which has indeed led to you two fucking in storage closets, changing rooms, clubrooms, classrooms, bathrooms, and even his parents bedroom!!! You can't complain though, the sex is fucking killer everytime. And even in a non-sexual sense, your relationship has never been better! Kuroo is fucking in-love with you, and you're just as head-over-heels for him!
Tumblr media
Virgin!Lev who has never been in a relationship due to looking kinda intimidating to most people, but you saw him for the sweet dork he really was! Your relationship with the taller man was always quite wholesome; dates like any other couple and hanging out. Being a virgin actually made Lev a little insecure about his relationship with you - what if he wasn't any good in bed and you broke up with him! So it was understandable that it took until the 6 month mark for you two to actually sleep together, and of course it was you who proposed the idea. Even though Lev was very nervous, he couldn't deny the fact that he did really wanna have sex with you, his body showing that fact by popping a boner the SECOND you mentioned fucking.
Virgin!Lev who was high on pleasure very quickly, all worries and nerves evaporating from his body once he was inside of you. Your warm smile and patience really helped to ease Lev into it (in more ways than one lol). Oh and when your boyfriend started to thrust? It was over for him. This man was drunk on pleasure, your warmth, your tightness, it was all too much for him. Lev went from trying to give you backshots in doggy like he'd seen in porn, to resting his chest on your back and hugging your waist as he pathetically humps you! You didn't mind though, hearing your boyfriend's rugged breaths and moans in your ear was hot, as well as feeling his strong, long arms around your waist, his fit chest against your back; both you and Lev also couldn't deny that the size difference between you both was a HUUUUGE turn on! Oh and not to mention the sexy "chert voz'mi da..." and "tak khorosho, khorosho, khorosho...." that Lev would mumble to himself as he began to loose his pace and fuck into you like a desperate animal. Hearing your boyfriend swear in Russian was something you didn't know you needed so damn bad.
translation: chert voz'mi da ~ Fuck yes tak khorosho, khorosho, khorosho ~ so good, good, good
Tumblr media
Virgin!Bakugo who's too smug and too prideful to ever let onto the fact that he is a MEGA virgin!! Like never even held hands romantically! The only person he'd even really had those feelings for was you, so it made sense that the temperamental man hadn't had much sexual experience; however that doesn't mean that Katsuki doesn't understand the social stigma around that, and his ego would never allow his reputation to take such a hit. So to say you were shocked when your boyfriend finally let his stupidly high walls down and confessed to you that all his big talk was bullshit, well that would be an understatement.
Virgin!Bakugo who doesn't let the fact that he's never even kissed someone get in the way of finally getting it on with you; effortlessly pulling out tricks that would make you think he was kind of a playboy! Katsuki knew to loosen you, knew about your prostate and exactly how to stroke it in a way that made you spiral, and the man was even talking that talk AND walking that walk; his actions and words were on point! You were pleasently surprised by how easy your boyfriend had made your job, you'd prepared yourself to talk the blonde through everything! What you didn't know however, was that Katsuki had been studying up on gay sex since your one week anniversary... Bless his heart.
Virgin!Bakugo who kind of rocks your world! His pace rough but not fast; it felt good, he was hitting all the right spots with that big dick of his, and his attitude was (for lack of better words) just straight-up hot. However, that's not to say that Katsuki wasn't almost immediately overwhelmed by pleasure, and his brain was slowly but surely starting to turn to mush just from the warmth and tightness of your ass. The blonde was stuttering on most words, moans ripping from Bakugo's throat and interrupting whatever he was saying; but it just made it all the more enjoyable - your boyfriend feeling so damn good 'cause of you, it was a huge turn on for you. And ever since the first time, Katsuki has moved his strict nighttime routine back a bit, making time to have some fun with you every night.
Tumblr media
Virgin!Kirishima who's quite unaffected by being a virgin. He's been in relationships but has never taken that step, but he didn't really care; sure he'd like it, but the red-head had never felt a need for it - that was until he started dating you. Holy shit did you turn Kiri on so, so much; it was like you couldn't even speak without making the man want to fuck you out of your mind! So even though he never told you, Kirishima was desperately waiting for the right moment to finally be inside of you, to get as intimate as possible with you. The grin on his face when you asked him to go further was something you'd never forget, mainly cause it just turned you on even more; your dick already hard from making out with your boyfriend, now painfully harder!
Virgin!Kirishima who is a moaning and grunting mess, thrusting into you like no tomorrow, desperate to feel you faster, deeper. Your boyfriend slurred his words as he would chant your name like an ancient prayer, moaning softly into your ear and his body jerking slightly at any clench of your hole onto his dick. It didn't take long for Kirishima to lose himself, mumbling incoherent variations of calling you beautiful and tight, his face flushed a bright pink and his entire body drenched in sweat; you got your boyfriend cock-drunk on your hole within literal minuets. It did surprise you how long Kiri lasted though! For a virgin who was absolutely drilling his dick into you at a life-threatening pace and force, the red-head didn't seem close to cumming; his uneven pace not faltering. But trust, when that man did reach his climax, the most raw, blissful moan erupted from Eijiro's throat; his body collapsing on top of yours, his sweaty muscles smushed against yours and his sweaty face buried into your neck as the man gently bit you, holding himself back from marking you more than he already had. Other than feeling your boyfriend's huge, rock hard body crush you, you felt incredible too; the feeling, and sight, and sound of your boyfriend reaching his peak inside of you and basking in the sweet, strong afterglow, holy fuck did it turn you on. So much so that the soft whimpers and voice-crack-riddled moan Eijiro was letting out resulted in you shooting your load too, painting your stomach and your boyfriend's shiny, sweaty abs.
Tumblr media
Virgin!Denki who starts physically shaking with excitement when you ask him to fuck. Your rattlebrained boyfriend short-circuiting just from the idea of finally getting laid; best of all, his first time being with you! You kinda knew straight away that Kaminari was a mega-virgin, the man having his perverted side and all, and getting flustered at the smallest amounts of attention from you; but if anything, it was a turn on for you.
Virgin!Denki who gets cock-drunk out of his mind! Within only a couple of minutes of thrusting his dick in and out of your warm, tight entrance, the blonde was a moaning mess above of you. Denki was slurring his words, weakly moaning out nonsensical words, and chanting your name all whist holding tightly onto you; the amount of pleasure he was feeling for the first time in his life was a little overwhelming.
Virgin!Denki who just looks so fucking hot as he's cumming inside of you! His body sheening with sweat, his muscles bulging and his face contorting in pleasure; Denki's entire tan body dusted ever so slightly with a pink hue. And even though you'd expect your unexperienced boyfriend to shut down after orgasming, he made sure even in his post-euphoric state, that you came too; even using his quirk just a tad to shock the pleasure out of you.

Series Masterlist
A/n: hey guys I haven’t wrote in so long but I had this idea in my head for so longgg, hope you enjoy cause this is a series!!<3
Part: I
……
It had been four months since you broke up with him, yet he still haunted every aspect of your life through your dreams. You were beyond tired of waking every morning with a pounding heart and a bed drenched in cold sweat from memories plaguing your mind. You always thought the most challenging part of a breakup would be the actual breakup, but it wasn't; no matter how hard you tried, you knew you would never forget the heartache Rafe put you through, and you had come to peace with that, what you weren't prepared for was his looming presence in your life even though he wasn't even physically present, that was the hardest part.
“You all packed up?” your mom asked, snapping you out of thought as she peeked through the crack of your door, only her eyes showing.
You had been so lost in thought that you had almost forgotten you were supposed to be finished packing up for school by now.
“Yeah...” you nodded as you quickly bagged up some remaining things that had sat on your bed.
“Well, almost,” you chuckled as your mom entered your room, folding up clothes to help you finish.
“Listen,” she said softly, placing a warm hand on your shoulder. “I know you're really stressed about going back. "
You sighed as she spoke. Part of you felt guilty for the way things went last semester. You always tried not to blame yourself, but you couldn't help but feel like you put yourself in the situation, so it was your fault.
“But this year is going to be better, okay?” You simply nodded in response as she brought you in for a hug. “Freshman years like a trial run.” she giggled warmly.
You had never been in a serious relationship before Rafe. The two of you had started dating at the beginning of your freshman year.bYou met him in your psych class, which you had been failing horribly. It's not like you were stupid. You could easily understand the material if you tried, but you were lazy and didn't feel like it. You had to guess Rafe was failing too, because when your professor partnered the two of you up for your big midterm, which was 30 percent of your grade, you got 72 percent.
Although getting 72 percent wasn't exactly a grade to be proud of, it was enough to pass, and it seemed like a victory at the time. Rafe had this way of making even the most minor victories feel significant, and it was then that you started to see him in a different light. After the project, you both started spending more time together, studying, hanging out, and gradually, what began as a partnership for class grew into something more.
Your relationship with Rafe had always been complicated, to say the least. He was a junior, part of a frat, and you were just a freshman with like two friends, and everyone knew Rafe. So when you started dating it was cool that everyone started to know you.
Rafe was the worst, something you only fully recognized in hindsight. At first, his attentiveness felt like care, and it was easy for you to fall into his traps because you had never been with anyone else. but it quickly morphed into control. He picked who you could hang out with, what you could wear, and even how you spent your free time. You knew you didn’t like that but it was your norm.
Arguments between the two of you were frequent and intense, His yelling at you to “get away from him” turned into full-fledged pushes across the room. What started as him grabbing your wrist a little roughly turned into him using that exact grip to drag you across the cold floor as you kicked your feet, trying to get away. It was a classic case of an abusive relationship. Ignoring the red flags till they hit you in the face. Literally. The breaking point was when you caught him cheating on you mid-fuck.
It was devastating, not just because of the betrayal, but because it forced you to confront the reality of your relationship with Rafe. The breakup that followed was messy and painful, with Rafe oscillating between begging for forgiveness and blaming you for his actions. Not only were you heartbroken, but the stress of your relationship caused you to fail most of your classes, forcing you to have to retake them the whole summer.
So yeah, you were stressed to go back to school, not even stressed; you were terrified; after you and Rafe broke up at the end of last semester, you didn't leave your dorm for anything other than class, so you really didn't have to see him or interact with him. This year, you couldn't do that; the self-isolation would only worsen things and make you more depressed; you wanted to have experiences, go to parties, and hang out with your friends. The only thing was Rafe was a horrible boyfriend, so he had to be an even worse ex. Even though you wished and hoped that the two of you could just ignore each other and stay cordial, you knew Rafe better than that.
-----------
You sat in your dorm, headphones on, blasting music as you focused on finishing your English paper. Looking up, you glanced at your roommate Mia, waving you down and clearly trying her best to get your attention. Slightly giggling at her efforts, you paused your music, sliding the headphones off your ears.
“Oh my god, finally!” she mocked, sighing before sitting on the foot of her bed with a playful smirk.
“I've been trying to get your attention for 20 minutes!” the curly-haired girl exaggerated as she threw her head back.
“Oh, please! I haven't even been working on this for 20 minutes!” you bantered back, throwing your pillows at her.
“Yeah, right, like I believe that. Everybody knows that all you do is work all day.” Mia giggles playfully, throwing the pillow back at you.
She wasn't wrong. You had told yourself that this semester would be different; you would go out, make friends, and party, yet you were still glued to your dorm a month into it. You tried to push yourself; you really did, but the constant dreams about Rafe didn't help you feel better about potentially running into him.
“That's not true..” you awkwardly laugh as you nervously scratch your neck.
“Yes, it is,” the brunette slowly says, looking around as if missing something.
“No, it's-” you try to get out before being cut off.
“Then prove it.” Mia cuts you off, standing off her bed to walk over to you. “Zeta’s throwing tonight, and I don't wanna go alone.”
When Mia mentioned Zeta,Aka Rafes frat, your heart sank, but you tried to stay calm. The last thing you wanted was to end up at a party where he would almost certainly be, but Mia had no idea how bad things had gotten between you. She knew you and Rafe ended on bad terms, but she didn’t know the full extent of what you’d been through.
"Zeta?" you repeated, trying to mask your anxiety. "Why do you want to go there?"
Mia gave you a knowing smile, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Because Topper's been trying to get with me for weeks now, and he invited me tonight.”
Your stomach churned at the mention of Topper. He and Rafe were close, practically best friends, which meant Rafe would definitely be at the party. The idea of seeing him again, especially in a place that held so many bad memories, made you feel sick. But Mia had no idea how deep your anxiety ran, and to her, this was just about a fun night out and a cute guy.
"Mia, you know Rafe’s going to be there," you said carefully. "I just… I don’t know if I’m ready for that."
Mia’s face softened, and she shifted, leaning forward. "I know things didn’t end well, but you can’t let him keep you from living your life, right? You deserve to have fun, meet new people, and not let some jerk control how you feel."
You bit your lip, staring at the floor. She was right, in a way. You couldn’t hide forever. But the thought of being in the same room as Rafe, of possibly having to interact with him, made your chest tighten with fear. Mia had no idea just how bad things had been between the two of you. To her, Rafe was just a messy breakup, not a nightmare that still haunted your every step.
"I know, it’s just…" you trailed off, unsure of how to explain the weight of it all without giving too much away.
"Look, if it gets weird or if you feel uncomfortable, we’ll leave. I promise. But maybe this is your chance to show him that you’ve moved on, that he doesn’t have power over you anymore."
Her words hit you, and for a moment, you considered it. Maybe going to the party was a chance to reclaim something, to face Rafe without fear, and show him—and yourself—that he no longer had a hold on you. But a part of you still hesitated, the fear gnawing at your resolve.
"Okay," you said after a long pause, your voice barely above a whisper. "I’ll go. But if things get too much, we leave, no questions asked."
Mia’s face lit up, and she pulled you into a hug. "Yes! Don’t worry, we’ll have fun. We’ll stick together, and it’ll be fine. I promise.”
You forced a smile, trying to ignore the knot in your stomach as Mia rushed over to her closet to pick out outfits. You hoped she was right, that tonight could be a fresh start, but deep down, you couldn’t shake the feeling that being so close to Rafe again would stir up things you weren’t ready to confront.
--------------
The bass from the music thudded through the ground as you and Mia walked up to the Zeta house. Even from outside, you could hear the chaotic hum of voices and laughter mixed with the pounding beat of whatever random early 2000s white boy song was blasting through the speakers. Your nerves tightened with every step, and you had to remind yourself to breathe.
Mia seemed unfazed, practically glowing with excitement. She gave you a quick, encouraging smile as she adjusted her skirt. “Okay, we’re just going to have fun, remember? Topper’s probably already inside, and we don’t have to stay long if it gets too crazy.”
You nodded, though your heart was racing faster than you’d like to admit.
The front door was wide open, people streaming in and out like they were at some exclusive club. Mia grabbed your hand, pulling you inside with a grin.
The moment you stepped through the door, the atmosphere swallowed you. The smell of beer and sweat mixed with the sharp scent of alcohol. The dim blue lights illuminated the crowd of bodies packed together. It was overwhelming, and for a second, you considered turning around and leaving before anyone noticed you were there.
You thought you pregamed good, but apparently not good enough. The minute you looked around, you felt too sober to be there. Mia was already scanning the room, probably looking for Topper, as you tried your hardest not to scan the room and end up making any unnecessary eye contact with you-know-who.
“Oh, he's right there,” Mia yells over the loud music, reaching for your hand.
You tried your best to down the alcohol from the water bottle you and Mia had brought, the bitter taste burning your throat as she pulled you toward Topper. You knew the only way you'd make it through the night was if you drunk enough. Topper knew you, and you knew him—and you were almost sure he’d mention your presence to Rafe if he hadn’t already. This whole situation felt like a setup, a trap you’d willingly walked into.
When you finally reached Topper, you stood awkwardly behind Mia as she and Topper made small talk. You tried your hardest not to look at him; even though he wasn't Rafe, he was still a huge reminder of him, but every time you found yourself accidentally looking at him, he was already looking at you. You found it very strange, even looking at Mia a few times to see if she noticed. It sent a shiver down your spine; you already felt anxious about being here, but how he looked at you made it seem like he knew something you didn't.
Not long after Mia had been chatting with Topper, she turned toward you drunkenly with a big, mischievous smirk.
"Hey," she slurred slightly, leaning in close to you as if sharing a secret. “Topper wants to show me his room upstairs. You cool waiting for me here?" Her voice was filled with a mix of giddiness and anticipation.
Your stomach dropped a little, but you forced a smile, trying not to let your anxiety show. The last thing you wanted was to be left alone in a place like this, especially with the looming threat of Rafe showing up at any moment. But Mia was your friend, and she deserved to have fun.
“Yeah, sure,” you said, your voice sounding steadier than you felt. “I’ll just hang out on the couch or something.”
Mia’s grin widened, and she gave you a quick, sloppy hug. “You’re the best! I won’t be long, I swear.”
Before you could respond, she grabbed Topper’s hand and dragged him toward the stairs. You watched them disappear into the crowd, your pulse quickening as you realized you were alone in a house full of people you didn’t want to see.
You looked around, searching for a spot to sit. The couch in the corner seemed the safest option, so you headed that way, trying to ignore the unease creeping up your spine. Sitting down, you took another swig from your water bottle, hoping the alcohol would kick in soon and numb the nerves threatening to take over.
And it did; about 20 minutes later, you felt on top of the world. You had made it off your spot on the couch, made a whole new group of friends for the night, and started dancing like no one was watching, but someone was, and you started to feel it. The party's energy had begun to lift your spirits, and you felt freer than you had in a long time.
But then, in a split second, that sense of freedom evaporated.
It was as if you could sense him before you even saw him. That familiar tension gripped you as your eyes instinctively scanned the room, and there he was—Rafe, leaning casually against the far wall. His eyes were already on you, a predatory gleam in them, and your heart sank. You wanted to leave immediately. You looked down at your phone, immediately texting Mia that the two of you had to go. Your new friends even looked at you, concerned at the change in your demeanor, asking you what was wrong, and in your drunken state, you told them.
“My fucking ex is here, and he's staring at me!” you stressed to the group of girls over the blaring music.
“Girl, that's amazing! This is your chance to make him jealous!” one of the girls slurs with a glowing smile as she takes your hand. her comment earning nods and smiles of agreement from the rest of the group.
“No, you don't get it. He’s like crazy!” you whined as you looked down at your phone, waiting for a response from Mia. “and my roommate hooking up with his best friend.”
Sure, if Rafe was a regular ex, you would see him at a party and maybe be happy for a petty chance of revenge, but he wasn't a regular ex. You didn't even wanna interact with him yet intentionally piss him off, but you obviously couldn't just leave your friend, so you had to just try your best to ignore him, and you tried, but he made it pretty fucking hard.
He wasn’t alone. Surrounded by his friends, Rafe looked every bit the confident, cocky guy you had once fallen for, except now, that same confidence felt menacing. The smile tugging at his lips was more of a smirk that sent a chill down your spine.
He knew you had noticed him.
And as soon as he caught your eye, he kicked his act into high gear.
Rafe started laughing louder, nudging the guys around him like he was the life of the party. Every gesture felt exaggerated, every movement too calculated. He wanted to make sure you saw him and felt his presence as much as possible.
You scoffed and rolled your eyes at that. It was sad that he was acting like this. I mean, how immature was he. You didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of knowing how much seeing him affected you, so you turned away, trying to refocus on dancing and getting back into the moment. But it was too late. The room felt smaller and more claustrophobic, and no matter how much you tried to immerse yourself in the music again, you could still feel his eyes on you.
And unable to resist, you glanced back.
Rafe had taken it a step further now. One of the girls nearby had found her way beside him, blonde, tall, and obviously intoxicated. She pressed herself against him, laughing as she draped her arms around his neck. Rafe barely acknowledged her, his attention still fixed on you. It was deliberate.
Your stomach churned.
And then, as if to solidify his little performance, Rafe pulled the girl closer, gripping her waist. The girl giggled, clearly enjoying the attention, oblivious that she was being used as a pawn in Rafe’s sick game.
You tried to look away, but the weight of his gaze held you in place.
Then, without breaking eye contact, he leaned in and kissed her—slow, deliberate, and intense. His hands roamed her body as she melted into the kiss, all while Rafe's piercing eyes remained locked on yours.
It felt like a punch to the gut. The room seemed to spin, and you suddenly felt like you couldn’t breathe. He was doing it on purpose. Every touch, every movement, every second of that kiss was for you, to hurt you, to remind you of the control he used to have and still has over you.
And it was working.
“Y/n, are you okay?” Your heavy eye contact with Rafe was broken as you turned around to face Mia with teary eyes. You didn't say anything, but she clearly saw what was upsetting you from a mile away.
“Oh my god, he's fucking disgusting.” she gasped, looking directly at Rafe with disgust painting her face. “Let's go right now.”
On the walk back to your dorm, Mia went on and on about how what he did should confirm the breakup was the right choice and how he just did it to try and make you jealous, and you knew that. You didn't need her to tell you, but that didn't make you feel better. He had caused you enough pain, so much pain, so why was he still going? When would it be enough?
“How was Topper?” you questioned curiously, honestly hoping selfishly that he did something that would make her never wanna see him again.
“Horrible.” she cringed, mock gagging, waiting for your reaction.
Really?” you chuckled, trying not to beam from ear to ear.
“No, the dick was average, but he's hot,” she giggled, looking up as she reminisced on the hook-up. “But why were you so happy?” she full-on laughed, crossing her arms over her chest
--------------
“Have you seen Rafe?” you asked around the party, looking around every corner for signs of your boyfriend.
You were supposed to go back home for the weekend for a doctor's appointment, but your doctor actually canceled the appointment, so you stayed on campus instead. You had tried to call Rafe multiple times to let him know you were still at school, but he hadn't answered. You believed it was because the two of you had gotten into a fight that morning, and Rafe was known to give the silent treatment, so you thought you might as well just find him yourself if he wanted to play that game.
You navigated through the crowds of people, your heart racing as you called out to a few acquaintances, hoping one of them had seen Rafe. He had been so distant lately, and the tension between you from earlier that morning hung like a thick fog.
“Have you seen Rafe?” you asked one of his friends, who shrugged and waved you off, lost in a conversation. You sighed, the knot in your stomach tightening. The last thing you wanted was to spend the night worrying about where he was, especially after you fought.
“Maybe he’s in the back,” another friend suggested, nodding toward a dimly lit hallway. You nodded, grateful for any lead, and made your way in that direction, your pulse quickening with every step.
As you reached the end of the hall, the music faded slightly, replaced by the muffled sound of voices. The door was somewhat cracked. You could hear muffled moaning, grunting, and clapping. You gasped, hand clamping over your mouth hard. You didn't wanna believe it, you couldn't, but there was only one way to know. Hesitating momentarily, you leaned in closer, peeking through the small crack of the door. Your heart sank as you recognized Rafe’s frame as he fucked some blonde bitch from the back, and if seeing what could be his frame didn't confirm it was him, the “fuck Rafe that feels so good.” did.
You felt as if the world around you had come to a standstill. You knew your relationship with Rafe was far from healthy. Anyone could see that, but you never expected him to do it. To betray you in such a hurtful way. Your mind started to race. Had he cheated before? Was it the whole time? Did everyone know but you? How could someone treat you like shit every single day yet be the one to cheat on you? It wasn't fair, and to be honest, you felt embarrassed.
You turned and rushed away from the door, tears welling in your eyes and blurring your vision. You needed to escape this suffocating atmosphere. As you moved back into the main party area, you tried to shake off the weight of what you had just witnessed, but it clung to you like a heavy blanket.
You stumbled into a group of your friends, busy dancing and laughing, oblivious to your turmoil. One of them, noticing your teary face, hugged you. “Hey, are you okay? You look like you’ve seen a ghost!”
“I’m fine,” you lied, forcing a smile that didn’t reach your eyes. But deep down, you were anything but fine. You felt hollow, betrayed by someone you trusted more than anyone else.
As you moved to the crowd's edge, hoping to catch your breath, you couldn’t shake the image of Rafe with that girl. How could he do this to you?
You grabbed your phone, fingers trembling as you dialed his number, your heart racing at the thought of confronting him. But it went straight to voicemail.
------
“y/n!” You woke up to Mia shaking you awake, your heart beating out of your chest, and your sheets dripping in sweat. “God, are you ok?” she chuckled with a worried undertone.
“Y-yeah... Yeah, I'm fine.” You yawned, looking at your roommate with a mixture of confusion and anxiety. That was the third time you had that dream since the party. You didn't realize how much seeing Rafe kiss that girl really affected you until you went to sleep the next day.
“Well, it's 9:30; breakfast closes in 30 minutes,” Mia informed you, staring at you, waiting for a response or some form of movement to show your getting up. “That means let's go.”
Every time you had a nightmare, it made you lose your appetite the following day, reminding you of how you felt during that time. In fact, it made you lose the urge to do anything, and the nightmares did come more often than not. So when you made your way to the dining hall, you only planned to get a small bowl of cereal and maybe some fruit.
You and Mia sat down next to each other, opting to eat there. You had faced your fear of going to the dining hall multiple times, never seeing Rafe there, and everything went smoothly until it didn't.
“Oh my god, Toppers here.” Mia gasped, eyes sparkling with excitement as she made eye contact with him and waved.
You looked up, confused as to why he was even at the dining hall when you knew his frat had better food than the campus could ever provide, let alone why he was there ten minutes left before it closed, but it clicked when you saw Rafe right behind him with an empty plate in hand. Part of you felt like they were there to antagonize you, but at the same time, you felt that thought was semi-narcassistic because why would they go through all the effort. But it was Rafe, and this was all a game to him; it was fun to him.
As Topper approached, Rafe lingered just a bit behind, his blue eyes scanning the room with that familiar cocky smirk plastered across his face.
“Hey, ladies,” Topper said, his tone light and teasing. He leaned against the table, completely at ease.
“Hey, Top.” Mia chirped, seemingly oblivious to the tension hanging in the air.
Rafe finally stepped forward, his casual demeanor masking the intensity beneath.
“Mind if I sit?” he asked, shooting you a sideways glance.
You hesitated but finally nodded, wanting to keep the peace for Mia’s sake. “Yeah, sure.”
He slid into the seat beside you, and for a moment, the conversation flowed easily. Rafe leaned back, looking relaxed as he chatted with Mia and Topper. You tried to focus on your cereal, but his presence loomed over you, reminding you of everything you wanted to forget.
“So, what’s everyone up to later?” Rafe asked, his gaze flickering between you and Mia. “Got any fun plans? Or is it just another boring day in paradise?”
You rolled your eyes slightly, hoping to brush off the comment. “Just studying,” you replied, trying to keep your voice light.
“Like always?” Rafe smirked, leaning closer, his tone teasing but laced with something sharper. “You know, I thought you’d be over us by now. Seems like you still care way too much.”
The comment hit you like a punch in the gut, and honestly, it was weird to you that he even noticed you'd been glued to your dorm. It just showed you that he was still hung up on you. Your heart raced, anger bubbling to the surface. “Wow, really? You think it’s about you?” you snapped, the words slipping out before you could think twice.
Rafe shrugged that infuriating smirk still plastered on his face. “I mean, it’s not like I’m the one who’s still depressed about it,” he replied, his tone smooth dripping with amusement at the fact he was getting to you.
“Unbelievable,” you said, standing up abruptly, the chair scraping loudly against the floor before You gathered your breakfast—cereal, fruit, and all—and headed toward the trash. You tossed it all into the bin. “Enjoy your breakfast,” you called over your shoulder, the disbelief mixed with fury driving you forward as you stormed out.

it pains seungcheol how his new girl's heart breaks at the way he looks through the window of that goddamn restaurant. maybe it's his fault afterall, he was the one to convince her to go to that place - he swore the food was amazing, and while it was far from being sitty, that wasn't the real reason why he wanted to go there.
it's one of your favorite places, the one he always took you whenever you felt sad or just a bit under the weather. in fact, the moment he walked into the lobby with his new girl, seungcheol couldn't hide the shame in his eyes as the owner's smile faltered when he didn't see you with him.
maybe part of him wanted to just reminisce you; maybe a tiny, tiny part of him just wanted to feel your presence again, somehow. maybe one of the pieces of his heart wished you to be there, somehow, somewhere.
and that little piece of his still broken heart was right, because what do you mean you're outside, laughing with your friends, apparently waiting for someone? what do you mean you're just a window away from him?
seungcheol knows, he knows he should look away, but the moment he realizes you're really there, he can't help but stare - at your face, the way you laugh, how you hair has slightly changed, your clothes that were once thrown at his bedroom floor; at you.
the longer he stares, the faster his mind races. he can't pinpoint what he's feeling, but he knows it comes with love. maybe longing? maybe sadness because you're no longer his, although he will most likely always be yours?
and in the very back of his head, there's guilty too. again, it saddens him that he's hurting someone in the proccess - and his new girl could never deserve any of that, to be honest -, but he can't help it. she's great, really funny, emotionally available and so smart, probably even more than him. she treats him just right, his dad loves her even though his mom seems like she's just polite towards the girl sometimes, exactly like jeonghan, for some reason.
she's everything - except, she isn't you.
she isn't you and she could never be you. you, who's now staring back at seungcheol through the window glass; you, who look taken aback by his presence there, and who looks from him to his girl and then back to him.
no, no, no. you're getting it all wrong. he's not over you, he could never possibly be over you. he can explain why he's there with her.
seungcheol watches as you discreetly tells something to your friend, who snaps their head back to where he is, giving you an apologetic look. you shrug it off, a tiny smile in your lips as your friend throw an arm around your shoulders and pull you closer. seungcheol's chest tings with jealousy.
he watches, powerlessly, as one of your friends he actually knows arrives. she greets everyone, and suddenly there's a shift in the mood as someone tells her something, and she also looks back to where seungcheol is.
do they hate him? do they think seungcheol hurted you somehow, that he's an asshole? do they judge him for being with someone else? what did you tell them after the breakup? do you hate him him too?
he can't do much but continue to watch, his hands slightly shaking as he sees your friend saying something and, suddenly, walking away with you still under their arm. everyone follows, leaving the restaurant's porch empty.
it kills seungcheol that you didn't look back.
"you still love her", he hears someone - his girlfriend - say. when seungcheol finally looks at her, she offers him a sad smile. there's something running down his cheek, but he's not sure when did his eyes got glassy like that.
"i'm sorry", it's all he manages to whisper, cleaning his throat as he looks down. 'i'm really sorry."
seungcheol doesn't expect an answer, and he's actually glad when it doesn't come. the sound of the restaurant is already buzzing in his ears, and he can't help but think that he had never noticed how noisy that place was, not when he was with you.
but then again, he always only had eyes for you. and that? that didn't change. it will most likely never change.

Does anyone ever think really hard about Grian's inability to team? To stick with the same people he'd allied with at first after it shows the slightest hint of going downhill? Or about everyone's knowledge to be weary with teaming with Grian as he's notoriously disloyal with his teammates?
Cause the gutting thing is, he isn't. He isn't disloyal. He doesn't have an inability. In fact, I'd argue he is one of the few people who are tragically loyal to a fault, at least in most cases.
In Last Life, although he killed both Jimmy and Mumbo, he still felt the need to return to his allies after he'd turned red, feeling betrayed when they threw him out for being red. After that, he stuck with Joel and didn't dare betray him.
In Double Life, although he cheated on Scar and constantly complained, he stuck by Scar almost obsessively. His aim to protect him, even if he said it was for his own benefit, was painful. He didn't try to leave Scar behind like Cleo or Scott, he didn't try to sever the bond between him and Scar, nothing. It was almost like he was desperate.
In Limited Life, he was beyond loyal to his boys. He was loyal until the very end. And although he immediately switched to join the Nosy Neighbours, he didn't try to team with anyone permanently until Jimmy and Joel were dead. His silence when he realised he was truly the last Bad Boy was deafening. He hid his grief by saying that he had a backup team, just to save face, even though he built a gravestone for both boys and grieved them meaningfully.
In Secret Life, it wasn't as if he was fine with having no allied, like someone would be if they truly didn't care for loyalty, he was desperate once again. Having no teammates later in the game would hurt him, yes, but his desperation felt lonely, not power hungry. He didn't dare betray Etho nor Cleo, and stuck by them until the end. He was losing his mind on his hill before he teamed with the two, he needed to have close allies to depend on.
Now, in Wild Life, Mumbo is out of the series and Grian goes to say he needs to find some more friends, even with Skizz still around. Now, I don't think this is a power play thing, it's a desperation thing. He's hiding his grief by pretending everything is fine because if it wasn't he'd be vulnerable. For the past couple sessions, he had been working tirelessly to help get Skizz a kill so he could get off of being a red life, even to his own detriment.
Grian doesn't half ass teams. He will not team with everyone. However, he gets vulnerable when the ones that he connects to die.
Because that's how it went about in 3rd Life. He allied with Scar throughout the whole game, it starting simply because Grian felt guilty about what he'd done to Scar. He felt guilty. He stuck with him the whole game, undying loyalty, and all it ended in was him standing at the top with his best friend's blood drying on his hands.
To him, being loyal to someone like he was in 3rd Life ended badly. So, to avoid that, he found a way to still stay teamed with people, but not be left at the top of that mountain again, alone, even if his teammates die.
But so far, the curse keeps following him. He will always outlive his teammates. And this season is following the pattern, again, Mumbo dying right in front of his eyes, so close, yet so far. Always in a distance where he could've done something different, and he'd still have a teammate.
He may move from person to person, but only when they are dead or reject him. He is the forever Widow, cursed to always face his consequences, over and over and over again.

If this wasn't rock bottom, Anna didn't want to know what was. She spent Sunday night laying on the floor next to her bed alternating between crying and hyperventilating. Apparently she couldn't do both at the same time, because her body kept giving each activity its full attention before switching again. When she finally started to fall asleep around three o'clock, her ribs were aching so much, she didn't see how she would be able to teach in a few hours. But it didn't matter. She wouldn't be going to campus anyway.
When she woke up at six, she crawled to her computer and emailed everyone in her classes, informing them that she would not be in today and to work through the syllabus independently until their next class with her. All of the other professors pulled this kind of thing all the time, but she still felt guilty which triggered more tears. If Kevin somehow cost her a full time tenure position along with her happiness, she didn't know what else she had that he could possibly take from her.
When she thought about Bob, it hurt so badly she had to run to the toilet. And when she thought about Advanced Calculus and Advanced Physics, it hurt almost just as much. She was in love with so many things in San Diego, but she'd dragged her past here along with her even if she didn't want to acknowledge that fact. She'd brought this dark shadow along that tainted everything and left her wondering if she could fix any of it at this point. If she could even figure out how to start.
As she hiccupped alone in her bathroom, she knew she needed to mentally backtrack to New Jersey for the first time in a long time before she could focus on San Diego. When she crawled back toward her bed, she located her phone and found the contact information for her lawyer's office. It was late enough on the east coast that someone answered after one ring, and soon Anna had to use her scratchy, raw voice to try to communicate.
"When will my divorce be final?" she managed to ask as she propped herself against the wall. She left herself hungry every day, and she was living in this tiny room simply so she could pay these people to help her sort out her life, but the response she got was not ideal.
"Ms. Webber... your husband still has three days left to comply, but he has not done so yet."
Anna wanted to scream, but her throat felt like it was constricting. Why wouldn't he just let her have the one thing she wanted? She wasn't asking for anything extra, just the thing she worked so hard to make her own. She didn't even care about all of the money. But he wouldn't let her have it. Even though she didn't want to fight for anything else in the house, he still wouldn't comply. He was making hundreds of thousands of dollars now, and she wanted none of it back, but he knew that her manuscript was the one thing meant something to her. He would happily drag this out until she had nothing left.
She knew she needed to wait it out. It was her fault she hadn't filed sooner. She let Kevin's words destroy her even when she knew he was sleeping with Alyssa. She let him convince her that she needed him for way too long. "What happens in three days?" she finally asked.
"If he doesn't comply, then you can restructure your end of the divorce agreement, and we can try again."
Anna knew what that meant for her, but she didn't know if she could pull the trigger. Restructure it? There was only one thing she could remove. Kevin would come out clean as a whistle, and she would lose everything she hadn't already.
-----------------------------
When Bob knocked on the door at seven in the morning after barely sleeping at all, Jessica looked concerned when she opened it, and Jake looked annoyed. "What's wrong?" she asked, reaching out and running her hand along his stubbled cheek. "Why haven't you shaved? Why do you look so upset?"
"Why are you even here?" Jake called from the kitchen where he was cooking breakfast in his uniform.
"I need to talk to you," Bob croaked, and Jessica pulled him inside and gently guided him toward the couch. She rubbed his back and didn't rush him as he sat there, and Jake even stopped turning to glare from in front of the waffle iron.
"Did you know Anna's married?"
Bob could tell by the sharp intake of breath and the way Jessica's hand came to a screeching halt on his back that she had no idea.
"She's what?"
"Married," he repeated without any feeling whatsoever. The handful of hours he'd spent around her were some of the best of his life, but he would have never let his friends try to push them together if he'd know. He should have let her keep him in the friend zone when she tried to let him know that's what she wanted. Mutual attraction be damned, she'd made marriage vows to someone else. He just wished he would have known.
"No," Jessica said adamantly. "How? She's got no rings, and she said she lives alone. She mentioned an ex before, but I'm virtually certain he's still in New Jersey. She... struggles with certain things, and if she was married, someone would be helping her make ends meet. I don't know where you came up with this, but no."
Bob took his glasses off and set them down on the arm of the couch while he ran his hands over his exhausted eyes. "Jessica. She told me she was."
"Well," his friend said as she wrapped her arm around his shoulders, "I'll ask her about it at lunchtime today. There must be some sort of miscommunication."
"I don't think so," he groaned softly. "We... slept together, and those were her parting words as she ran out of my house."
"You slept together?!" Jessica practically shrieked.
"It's about damn time!" Jake called from the kitchen, clanging his spatulas together and whooping loudly.
But Bob was shaking his head and staring at the floor through his slightly fuzzy vision. He had his phone in his hand all night, trying to decide if he should call or text her, wondering if she went home to climb into bed with her husband. Scared that this was the reason why she squeezed herself into her apartment door before closing it abruptly when he drove her home.
"I should have backed off when she friend zoned me the first time. I should have never believed that I could be with a woman like her." A woman that inspired the best poetry he'd ever written in his life. A woman who made him want everything.
It finally dawned on Bob that there might be an irate husband in his future, and he would just have to take whatever came his way. Because there wasn't a chance that Anna didn't have her spouse wrapped around her fingers. Even if she had a lapse of judgement when it came to Bob, Anna's husband would know how good he had it and want to fight for her. Bob would just have to take it on the chin.
When Jessica kissed his cheek and whispered, "I'll try to sort this out," he just nodded with his shoulders slumped and his elbows digging into his thighs. But there was nothing to sort out. Anna would never be his, and now he would have to pay the price for the way she told him she was married about an hour too late to take it all back. Honestly, he never thought accidentally sleeping with a married woman was something he would ever have to deal with in his wildest dreams, and now that he was forced to do it, he was getting pretty mad.
-----------------------------
Anna managed to give her Classics lecture on Tuesday morning with a sore throat after screaming into her pillow off and on for most of Monday afternoon. She hadn't eaten in days, and if anyone noticed her puffy, red eyes, they didn't mention it to her. She had quizzes to grade and reports to read, but when she went back to her office, the overwhelming scent of bread from the cafeteria made her gag.
There was a pack of peanuts in her desk along with a room temperature can of ginger ale, but she had no appetite yet. She was just in survival mode until she decided what to do when Kevin's time was up. Until she worked up the courage to talk to Bob and apologize.
He was the sweetest man she had ever known, and her lapse of judgement was going to cost her any chance with him in the future as well as her friendships. In fact, none of them were ever going to want to speak to her again, and that's what she deserved. If she would have just been honest with Bob, she wouldn't be in this mess. But San Diego was like a balm for her senses, making her feel normal where she knew she wasn't. Maybe Bob would have been willing to wait a few more months until she figured out her next steps. Maybe he would have accepted that she was legally separated from Kevin if her husband would just sign the fucking paperwork.
Tears were burning her eyes again just as someone knocked on her office door. She sat perfectly still, silently begging them to go away, praying that everyone would leave her alone until she could sneak out and go home later.
"Anna?"
She knew that voice so well, and she was shocked to find that it sounded more concerned than angry.
"It's just us," came the second voice, and without another thought, Anna was on her feet, wrenching the door open as she started to sob. "Oh, Anna," whispered Jessica as she collected her into her arms.
Anna stood in the middle of her tiny office and cried and cried in Jessica's arms while her other friend studiously locked the door and dimmed the lights before reaching for the box of tissues on the shelf. "Here," she whispered, and Anna accepted a wad of tissues from her.
She tried to mop at her face, but it was a lost cause. Jessica pushed the loose strands of her red hair back from her eyes as she said, "Anna, we're here for you, but I think we need to talk. For real."
"We have some... concerns."
Anna tried to take huge gulps of air into her burning lungs as she gasped, "I'm really not okay. I hurt Bob."
Her friends looked at each other before Jessica said, "I think it's time you backtracked a little bit. Maybe all the way back to New Jersey."
"I hated it there," she told them immediately, wiping at her eyes as she sat on the edge of her desk, bracing herself for the interrogation to come.
Advanced Calculus eyed her sympathetically before a look of steel locked in her gaze. "Are you married?"
Anna nodded slightly, cringing as she pictured Kevin's face. "Technically, yes."
"Anna!" Jessica exclaimed. "You slept with Bob!"
They knew. They knew everything. Bob told them, and they knew what she'd done. She cradled her forehead in her hands and said, "I didn't mean for any of this to happen. I hate Kevin. I don't think we were even married two years before he started cheating on me. I'm trying my best to divorce him, but he just won't fucking let me."
"What do you mean he won't let you?" Advanced Calculus asked, cutting off Jessica before she could screech again.
"He is ruining my life," Anna whispered, finally starting to feel more anger than anything else. "Like an idiot, I've let him ruin my life. I put him through medical school. I dropped out of Princeton to work two jobs to put my husband through medical school." Her voice faded into a soft yet harsh whisper. "Kevin promised he'd take care of me after that so I could finish my Ivy League PhD. But then he started cheating on me because I was always tired and boring and no fun. Because all I was doing was working to pay his tuition for four years straight while he fucked another medical student between classes. I caught them having sex in my car."
"No," both women gasped at the same time. But she just nodded as the memories she had tried so hard to keep at bay since she moved to California came roaring back.
"That's not a marriage," Jessica practically growled, reaching out for Anna's hand that she hadn't even been aware was shaking. "Not really."
"You're right," Anna agreed. "I'm a joke." She honestly felt like one. Images of Bob's face and the memory of his kind voice flooded her system. The way he looked at her and touched her felt like love. The things he wrote about her had her almost convinced he could love her back.
"You're not a joke, Anna," her friend told her. "You're a smart, capable woman who should have come to her friends months ago with all of this information."
"I hate Kevin!" Jessica shrieked before biting down on her own fingertips, and it was so comical, Anna might have laughed if she was in a better frame of mind.
"Yes," Advanced Calculus agreed. "Kevin sounds like an asshole. But you know who isn't an asshole? Bob. But right now, he kind of feels like one."
Anna closed her eyes as the tears started welling up faster. "I tried so hard. You have to believe me. But Bob is perfect. And he didn't think I was boring. But I wasn't planning on falling in love ever again."
"You love him?" Jessica snapped loudly. "You love him? Because Bob thinks you are in a loving marriage with your spouse!"
"Jessica, go sit in the desk chair and calm down," the other woman commanded, and Anna watched the petite, bespectacled blonde stomp around her desk. "Now, Anna, why didn't you explain this all to Bob before you rocked the man's whole world and then ran off into the night like Cinderella?"
"I freaked out," Anna whispered, swallowing hard. "He's the perfect man. He did everything exactly right, and he was exquisite." She looked down at the floor as she said, "I haven't been touched like that in years. Like I was worth something. I'm not even thirty yet, and my husband ditched me for someone else while actively bankrupting me." She was mortified by what she was telling them, but she couldn't stop herself now. "Kevin always said I should dye my hair, and he loved it when I wore makeup. But Bob... he likes my hair and my freckles. He likes the books I read. He thinks I'm smart." She felt her face warm up as she thought about his poems. "We had sex, and then he was looking at me, and he started talking about us. I can't be an us with someone when I can't shake Kevin."
Anna could practically feel Jessica freaking out in the chair behind her, but she kept her eyes on the floor. "If you need help with Kevin or money for a lawyer or something-" Jessica said, but Anna cut her off.
"No. I'm fine. But he's going to force me to decide if I'd rather have my freedom or my self worth. And right now, I can't decide what I want to let him get away with when he already took so much."
"Hey," her much calmer friend said softly, and Anna finally met her eyes. "We're here for you. Anything you need, okay? But I need you to promise you'll talk to Bob. The sooner the better." Then Anna watched her reach for her tie dye lunch box which she apparently brought in with her and pulled out one of her fancy containers. "Bradley made you some hummus, and I packed you crackers and veggies to go with it. Please make sure you're eating. And please talk to Bob. I need to go teach Differential Equations, but I'll text you later. Jess, you have Physics III in fifteen minutes."
Anna received two hugs that she barely returned, and when the two women were gone, she sank into her chair and managed to eat some of the hummus without gagging. Then she texted Bob, because if nothing else, she needed him to know how sorry she was for running out on him. How sorry she was for all of it.
---------------------------
Anna wanted to talk to him on Thursday evening. Bob had to fight the urge to offer to pick her up on campus and save her from having to take an Uber to his house, especially after the few details that Jessica told him about her finances. She confirmed that Anna was married. She also promised him that there was no angry spouse waiting to jump him in the In 'N Out parking lot. She also told him that he needed to give Anna a chance to clear the air. So he agreed. He was free on Thursday. It wasn't like he'd been doing anything except going to work and coming straight home all week, even avoiding Suzanne as much as he could. And he wasn't going to break his promise to Jessica, even though Nat told him to delete Anna's number.
Bob sat in his living room, staring at his new bookshelf in disgust. He'd let himself fall into a fantasy where he imagined someday Anna's books would get mixed up with his on the shelves. Where all of her dog eared novels would live alongside his pristine ones. He'd been subconsciously thinking about it since he met her.
His insides were churning with anxiety. Part of him wanted to scream at her that none of this was fair to him, but the other part knew that no matter what, he still didn't want to see tears in her brown eyes. He couldn't let her take all of the blame for this anyway. He'd even told Jessica that she pushed a little too hard and that she shouldn't do that again in the future.
When there was a knock on his door, it was hard for him to stand up. How was he supposed to do this? He dragged himself across his living room to his front door and carefully opened it to find Anna with the saddest expression imaginable on her face. She looked somehow smaller and paler than she should. She looked like she hadn't slept. And that's when Bob realized he must look the same way to her.
"Hi," she whispered, brown eyes darting around his face nervously. She held out a small bouquet of blue flowers and the books she had borrowed in his direction, and Bob noticed her hands were shaking. "Um, I got these for you. They look like the flowers on the cover of the Whitman poems, and I thought of you when I saw them at the store."
"Anna," Bob groaned as he took them from her along with the books. He moved out of the doorway so she could come inside, and somehow he still couldn't decide if he was angry at her or not.
"I'm sorry," she gasped, turning to look at him once she was halfway across the room. There were several feet of space between them, but he could smell her hair. She was wearing the jeans she wore last time she went to the Hard Deck. He knew what that shirt felt like between his fingers. He could tell she was trying not to cry as she said, "I'm just really sorry."
"Why didn't you tell me you're married?" he snapped, unable to hold back. He knew his tone was harsh as he added, "Why didn't you tell anyone?"
"Because I should have been divorced by now!" she practically shouted, and Bob was instantly more soothed by that sentence than he should have been. "You think I want to be married to the worst man I know?" He had so many questions already, but something told him to just let her keep going. "That's why I'm here. In San Diego. He was supposed to sign the papers so I could get on with my ridiculous life, but he won't!" She sucked in a deep breath before she said, "And it's eating me alive knowing what I kept settling for when you exist! Knowing that I could have been with a man like you."
Her lips were moving like she was shivering, and her eyes were wide and watery. Red blotches covered her freckled cheeks, and Bob just knew she was going to panic again. She made a helpless noise and rushed forward, ready to run, but this time he caught her in his arms, the books and flowers falling to the floor. He let her struggle for a few seconds as she cried, but he held on tight.
"Anna," he said softly. "You can't keep running."
Her body slumped against his. She looked up at him as he held her, and a few seconds later, she let her cheek come to rest against his chest. She nodded against him as she whispered, "I don't really have anywhere to go anyway."
-------------------------
Bob kept his distance while also somehow always being nearby. Anna knew he was probably expecting her to vanish again if he turned his back for too long, but she was too mentally and physically exhausted to move from his living room couch while he fixed some tea. It was getting dark outside, and it was nearly impossible to try to think about anything other than Sunday night when she felt truly free for the first time in years.
Similar thoughts must have been on Bob's mind, because he was still occasionally looking at her like he used to. Then his cheeks would turn pink, and he'd duck his head before showing her a completely neutral expression. She took the mug of tea he handed her and whispered, "Thank you," as he sat down as far away from her as he could. She cleared her throat as she looked into her drink and said, "You're one of the kindest, most generous people I've ever met." She forced her gaze to his face. "I'm sorry I took that for granted. And I'm sorry I wasn't honest with you and the ladies."
Bob nodded but didn't speak for a minute. His voice was as gentle as always as he eventually said, "I'd like it if we could talk."
"Yeah," she agreed softly now that she felt like the fight inside her was gone and the tears had finally dried up.
"Where's your husband?"
She pictured Kevin standing in the perfect kitchen in the beautiful house on the cul-de-sac. "In New Jersey."
"Right," Bob replied in a reassuring tone. "You said you should have been divorced by now, so does that mean you don't want to be married to him?"
"I hate him," she whispered, back to staring into her mug. "And I'm sure he hates me, too. No, I don't want to be married to him any longer."
"You're separated?" he asked softly.
Anna shrugged, wishing more than anything that she could scoot a little closer to Bob and feel his hand on hers. "Not legally. He won't sign anything."
"Right," Bob repeated again. "Would it be too much for me to ask what happened? Because I really don't understand. I'm trying, but I'm still so confused, Anna."
Her brain was screaming at her to start crying again, begging her to fall apart or hyperventilate, but she didn't even have the energy for it. She took one long sip of her perfect cup of tea before setting it aside and turning to look at him. Even now, he had sympathy in his eyes. Whether that was because he now knew she and Kevin weren't really together or because he was always this sweet, she couldn't say. But he was everything she wanted and would never have again.
"The short version is that I put him through medical school while he cheated on me. The long version is that he used up every bit of my money, let me work myself ragged, prevented me from finishing my PhD at Princeton, belittled me, and flaunted his extramarital relationship in my face. It was humiliating knowing he was cheating. It's humiliating eating sandwiches and peanuts for every meal now. But the worst thing is that he is holding my manuscript hostage, and no matter what I do, he won't let me have it back."
"Jesus, Anna," he gasped, making the slightest move like he wanted to reach for her before pulling back.
She slowly stood, and he looked up at her, trying to gauge what she was going to do, but she just looked down at him as she tucked her shaking hands behind her back. "You're perfect," she whispered. "You're Sky Writing. You're the handsome man from the bookstore who smells like tea and soap. You're Bob, the guy my friends knew I would fall in love with as soon as I met them." She took a step back, barely able to handle how he was looking at her like she still mattered. "But I don't know how to be an us with you. I know that's what you want, but I never wanted to fall like this again. I tried my best not to. I can't do this with Kevin's shadow behind me all the time. And I'm just really sorry I let it go as far as it did. Because now that I know so much about you...."
That's when the tears arrived, and that's also when Bob stood up. "Anna, I feel like-"
When he cut himself off, leaving the sentence hanging in the air for a few seconds, she took one long, last look at him and whispered, "I'm going to go." He didn't stop her from stepping over the flowers, walking out the door, and heading to the end of his street where she waited for a ride as the night air made her shiver, and her tear streaked cheeks finally started to dry again.
----------------------------------
Oh, they both fell for each other. I'm not sure if Bob feels better or worse now. Kevin is an absolute dick, and we will hear from him in the next chapter. Keep fighting, Anna. Thanks @beyondthesefourwalls

My Response
Since I can't reblog, I'll respond this way.
THIS IS NOT TO ATTACK BUT TO SHARE MY REASONING FOR DISAGREEMENT.
I won't lie. This tweet really bothered me. Same annoyance and sadness with 'You can't criticize percabeth because it's based on Rick's marriage.' I'm not saying you said that, but I see that comment often.
Anyway, I'm going to remain respectful.
You are NOT erasing Percy's character's strength by pointing out the toxicity and abuse of Percabeth. Yes, Percy is not afraid of calling out people's nonsense. HOWEVER, he does that with people he DOES NOT like. Of course, it's easier for him to call out people he doesn't like because it wouldn't affect him.
However, when it comes to people he cares for, that's another story. When it comes to Grover nearly fucking up Percy's quest because he didn't want him or Annabeth to leave him, instead of calling out his selfishness, Percy bites his tongue and BLAMES HIMSELF for making Grover feel that way.
What about when his mother admits she was selfish by not letting him go to camp? Despite being a safer option, she didn't want him going to camp. Percy had every right to be mad. This could've saved him from Gabe. But instead, he still adores her. He doesn't hold it against her.
Lastly, with Annabeth, she's done all sorts of things, like punching him in the gut, judo flipping him with the intention of hurting him, and blaming him for leaving her even though he was kidnapped.
Did Percy lash out? No. There wasn't a retort either. Instead, he laughed it off, and they haven't spoken about it. If anything, he felt the need to make it up to Annabeth. He felt GUILTY for something that was not his fault.
What about when she calls him seaweed brain, a name he doesn't like? A name similar to 'brain boy,' something smelly Gabe calls him to demean his intelligence. A name that ANNABETH finds insulting too, and doesn't want to be called. Does he tell her to stop or call her mean names back? Kinda, but he later GIVES UP and bites his tongue.
What about when Reyna says he 'couldn't find his way out of a paper bag,' and Annabeth laughs and agrees with her. Percy may have said 'hey!" but that's it. Was it talked about? I don't think so. It was brushed to the side.
Percy may be brave enough to stand up to bullies, but he doesn't stand up to his loved ones when they truly hurt him. His fatal flaw being loyalty to loved ones, even when they fuck him over, prevents him from doing that.
Annabeth is nowhere near like Gabe, but that doesn't mean she's not hurting Percy, and you're not degrading Percy for calling this out.
I was in Percy's shoes. I stood up to bullies and people I didn't like. Uncomfortable? Scary? Hell yeah, but I did it anyway. I know what that's like. However, just like Percy, I also brushed off the pain my friends and loved ones caused me. I brushed off my 'friends' fucking me over, even took the blame for them. Why? I didn't want them to leave me. I overlooked when my loved ones would unintentionally say hurtful things. Why? Because I love them and didn't want them to leave me either. Also, I tried to appear strong, too. It's okay now that I had therapy and stuff.
Guess what? Percy does the same thing, and that's worth calling out. Victims of abuse tend to overlook their loved ones hurting them.
I'm not 'minimizing' or 'erasing' Percy's strength and courage for calling a spade a spade, and I can not stand when percabeth stans try to sweep toxic things Annabeth does under the rug. Again, is she abusive and like Gabe? No. BUT she does things that remind me of Gabe, like calling Percy mean names to insult his intelligence. She hits, kicks, and hurts him when he does something she doesn't like. Gabe doesn't do this, but Annabeth would sometimes play mind games or make her boyfriend anxious just for the hell of it. (Bringing up Rachel to make Percy uncomfortable). I'll stop listing.
But I have to say. You said it was 'insulting' to Annabeth to call her actions 'abusive'? I say it's insulting to act like what she's doing isn't abusive or toxic. All that I've listed, she didn't do this playfully or in a lighthearted manner. Annabeth did this angry or annoyed and with INTENT. It wasn't an oopsie! No, she wants it to hurt, especially the judo flip scene. So, do I care if I insult Annabeth? Sorry, but no. I don't care because she's in the wrong. Not always, but MOST, and I don't feel guilty because of her actions and how she hasn't learned (and doesn't want to).
Overall, I hate that these types of arguments become popular. I understand you don't like your ship being called horrible things, and I'm not trying to be mean. Most of us are not. However, we can NOT sweep over some of the things Annabeth or Percy do, mainly Annabeth.
I'm sorry for dumping something heavy. I'm not trying to make this about me. My point is that you're not discarding Percy for calling out Percabeth's toxicity. That's it.

Chapter # 6 Foggy Fears
Platonic Yandere Dc x reincarnated Reader
Wattpad
Prologue, Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6 (You are here)
Tumblr media
I realized at that moment that there are some whose dread of human beings is so morbid they yearn to see monsters of ever more horrible shapes.
- Junji Ito
(Once again, this chapter was changed quite a bit.)
!!TW!! Death, Blood, Car accident, Sudden switch from first person to second person.
*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*
'Dinner was too quiet.' Louis thought as she picked up the plates from the table, slowly bringing them to the sink.
'How could I have missed it?' She thought as she began to scrub the plate in her hand. 'She's my daughter. How could I have not seen it?'
Her grip tightened on the plate, her acrylic nails painfully dug into the plate. 'Am I such a horrible mother that I couldn't even notice my daughter ███ █████ ██?'
Snap
Louis looks down at her broken nail, a stinging pain accompanying the sudden loss of her red nail.
"Mom?"
Louis jumps, quickly turning her head and letting out a sigh of relief when she sees Jon. Placing a hand on her chest, she gives Jon a shaky smile, "Oh, Jon, be careful you almost gave your mother a heart attack."
Jon simply nods, as if not hearing his mother, "Um, Conner is... here." He muttered.
Louis's smile drops briefly before returning with a strained one, "Oh? Really? Well invite him in, it's been forever since he's come to visit."
Giving his mother a concerned look, Jon makes his way back out of the kitchen.
Louis sighs as soon as Jon leaves, running a hand through her hair.
"It's all my fault," She whispered, "It's all my fault..."
──●◎●──
The movie had ended, though Y/n barely noticed. All she could think about was how... ѳЧҭ ѳf ҁћӓГӓҁҭЭГ Clark had acted during the car ride. This wasn't the calm, happy-go-lucky superhero Y/n grew up with in the comics, he seemed so different. More stressed and less stable the Clark Kent from the comics. It all led to one thought;
If he's like this, how would he react if he found out about her reincarnation?
'I just want to go home.' Y/n ran a hand through her hair, her thoughts made her feel guilty, was she being ungrateful? Was Y/n even really Y/n? What if she just took over this Y/n's body? Was it her fault Clark's 'daughter' was gone?
What if he found out-
"Y/n? Are you ok? The credits ended a while ago." Clark's hand on Y/n's shoulder felt like fire. "Let's get going, okay?" Clark said softly, dipping his head down to look into  Y/n's eyes. "I'm sure Bruce (the prick) is anxious to have you back at the manor."
With a hesitant nod, Y/n stands up slowly. "Yeah... You're right, we should go." Clark smiles warmly, complete 180 from earlier. "Before that, I was hoping we could stop by the store on our way back." Clark rubs the back of his neck bashfully, "I might have promised your mother to get groceries while I was out, and the market is on the way to Bruces Mansion." His eyes seem to light up, "Oh! They might even have that snack you like so much! We can pick it up as well."
Y/n nods, "Yeah, I don't mind,"
Clark's smile widens, "Great! Let's get going then!"
Sighing, Y/n follows Clark to his car,
'DC has Walmarts?' Y/n thought as she followed Clark into the supermarket.
The Walmart looked normal for the most part, there didn't seem to be too many people (probably because it was relatively late and this was still Gotham). Clark grabs a cart before heading into the supermarket, Y/n following closely behind, immediately he heads over to the dairy section browsing the milk and cream aisle.
"What's your favorite creamer?"
Looking over to Clark, Y/n raises a bow "Hmm?" she hums confused. Clark smiles, "I figured I could get some while we're here for when you go back to Bruce."
An 'ooh' escapes Y/n's mouth before turning to get a better look at the creamers. In Y/n old life, she honestly preferred sweet things and would often put way too much creamer in her coffee, but as of late she's been enjoying less sweet things.
"Mmm, I think I'm good for now,"  Y/n responded, not missing the way Clark frowned.
"Oh."
Clark grabs a few things before leaving, and you awkwardly follow behind him.
The rest of the shopping trip continues like this, Y/n felt like tearing her hair out, it was just so awkward and uncomfortable. Eventually, the pair ended up in the electronic section of the store.
"- game you really like!" Clark's voice bleeds into existence, breaking Y/n's train of thought. Glancing over, Y/n sees Clark holding a bootleg version of Minecraft. "Y/n? Did you hear me?" Clark frowns a bit, his eye's losing that spark again. "Y/n. I know you have a lot on your mind, but you-"
"AAHHHHHHH!!!"
You and Clark jump at the sudden scream, Clark's eyes quickly scan the store for the source of the screaming.
"OH GOD-"
"GET AWAY FROM ME!"
"THEY'RE IN MY HEAD, MAKE THEM STOP!"
More and more screams start popping up, Clark quickly pulls you close to him and you can feel your heart pounding. What was going on??
"MY SKIN IS BURNING, I'M BURNING ALIVE!"
"I'M FALLING, I CAN'T STOP FALLING!"
"SPIDERS!"
A mist seems to slowly cover the ground, screams of desperation continue to fill the air, only growing more and more unsettling.
"Shit," Clark mutters, he grips your shoulders and swiftly turns you around to face him.
"Y/n. You need you listen to me." His voice was serious, "No matter what you see, it's not real. Do you understand? It's. Not. Real."
Y/n's eyes widen, Fear Gas, the mist was fear gas! This was bad! Very very bad! Unlike Clark, Y/n wasn't immune which meant Y/n was about to experience the full effect of the gas.
"Y/n! Y/n just remember! It's not real- it- ot- rea-"
The world seems to blur as a burning sensation enters Y/n's lungs.
__
You sigh tiredly as you walk along the worn-down sidewalk, comic book in hand. It had been a long day, and all you wanted to do was go home and rest. Stopping at the crosswalk, you take a few glances from side to side, you never know when a truck could just barrel through you because you didn't look.
You step onto the asphalt road.
Your heart was pounding for some strange reason, it suddenly became really hard to breathe. A loud honk rings in the air. Looking to your left, you see a dark blue truck heading towards you, its headlights illuminating a path where you were dead center.
The vehicle's driving was so erratic, you didn't know which way to run. Ultimately, whichever direction you chose didn't matter. The result would undoubtedly have been the same.
The impact was fast, you didn't feel anything at first.
It didn't last very long, though.
You lay on the asphalt road, gasping for air, trying to gain back all the air knocked out of you. That didn't do so well for your broken ribs, of course. The taste of blood indicates that some of your teeth might be missing, based on your guess.
You can't see much of your surroundings either. Aside from that dark blue truck's headlights blinding you, your vision was growing dark.
For a brief moment, you could see the man step out of his truck and go over to you. Then, everything in the world went dark.
__
"-waking up! She's waking up!" a boyish voice rings in Y/n's ear. A pounding headache seems to accompany her as she slowly sits up in her bed.
A few seconds after Clark enters her room. He looked around until he spotted the suitcase next to her closet, he went over and started to put her belongings in it.
"We are leaving." Clark states firmly, "And tomorrow you and I will be having a talk about what you saw." He seemed upset, extremely upset.
Clark... where are we going?" Y/n asked, though she already knew his answer.
"It's dad, not Clark, Y/n." That was all Clark said as he dragged you downstairs towards the manor's doors.
Bruce was standing by the door with a perplexed look on his face. He seemed stressed and a bit frustrated. Looking over, Bruce glared at Clark, quickly walking in front of him as if to intercept him, but Clark just pushed him aside.
"Clark put her down, we need to talk about this! Her condition could get worse!" Clark ignored him and walked out the door to his car, Bruce hot on his tail.
"I don't need a man who puts his children through hell and back to lecture me or tell me how to parent my kid Bruce." Clark and put you in the car with the suitcase. Then he got in himself and started the car.
"How about you start focusing on how not to kill your own kids before you start worrying about mine"
──●◎●──
Jon gasps. This... this couldn't be right. It was... no it was impossible! But... it was, it was here and it was possible. This changes everything...

Fire & Ice
Hoshina thought that you were the nicest ice queen he'd ever met.
You had grown quite the reputation for yourself, always giving your bluntest advice on how officers could improve themselves whether they asked for it or not, and regardless of if they ranked below or above you. It wasn't that you were cruel or heartless, you were simply just right.
"You're going to get yourself killed if you keep hesitating when you shoot."
"You favor your left side, try to strengthen your right sometime."
"If I can take your flimsy punch, a kaiju can too."
Your advice was always sound, but you were always so solemn when you were doling it out that other officers couldn't help but shrink at your criticism of them.
But not Hoshina. In fact, he relished the chance to let you critique him, showing him what he could improve on. It wasn't much, honestly. But you appreciated that he would actually listen to you, so you tried your best to help him where you could. He was the only person who understood that your brutal honesty came from a place of wanting to help, or at least not wanting to watch the people around you die.
Eventually, you even started to crave his commentary on your fighting, admiring his battle intellect and learning from it. You didn't mind criticism as long as it was justified and served you some use. But you thought that criticism due to ill will was just stupid.
Lately, some people had started spreading gossip about you just because you'd said something a little too harshly and hurt someone's feelings. You didn't know who it was because you were always hurting someone's feelings. But in this line of work, you didn't have time to worry about manners, manners might get them killed on the battlefield. They might get you killed on the battlefield.
And you had too many goals, too many things to do, too many debts to repay, too many regrets to make up for to allow yourself the pleasure of death anytime soon.
So you pushed on, ignoring whispers about you around corners, and glares at you in the hallways. You wished someone had told you all the things you were lacking when you were younger, maybe then you would've been strong enough to save everyone you wanted to save. But you weren't and you had to live with it. In comparison to carrying that heavy burden, you felt your fellow soldiers could bear your criticism a lot better. Maybe then they could save everyone they wanted to save. Or they'd die with your harsh words in mind; either way, you didn't feel too guilty. It was their own fault if they didn't take your advice to heart.
Even though everyday was seemingly the same, and everyone acted the same towards you, the same terrified eyes trying to avoid yours, or the same confrontational eyes daring you to say one more thing about their skills, the one person who constantly surprised you was Hoshina. His eyes were kind. His eyes lit up whenever you were around.
He'd find any excuse to talk to you, to walk with you. If you sped up to avoid him, he'd jog to keep up with you. Eventually, you found that one day you'd started matching pace with him instead.
You'd started going to the same coffee place as him and you'd order the same drink unknowingly. You'd started noting what time he arrived at base and you'd started coming into work at the same time so you could walk in together. You'd even begun saying the same things as him sometimes. It wasn't until you became conscious of all these subconscious habits you'd started forming around him that you realized the depths of your feelings for him.
You would've thought that the ghosts of all your dead family and friends constantly swirling around you would keep any feelings besides guilt at bay, but there they were nonetheless. They kept rising to the surface, flooding your cheeks with crimson whenever he came just a little too close during a training session, or complimented you just a little too much. And one compliment was already too much.
After hearing all the gossip about you, calling you the Ice Queen, you'd started to feel cold as ice yourself. So why did he make you feel like you were on fire? Like your lungs were inflamed, like your heart was ablaze, like your cheeks were burning. But it was the most delicious aching you'd ever felt.
And it was a different ache than the pain you felt for your relatives that were long gone. You knew you could never bring them back. But Hoshina, he was here everyday, you had every chance to spend time with him and it still wasn't enough. If you were on fire, you wanted to fill his lungs with your smoke. You wanted to engulf every part of him until you didn't even recognize yourself anymore, until you were just his.
At first, you tried to resist your feelings, scolding yourself for liking the first person who was ever nice to you. But then you realized that even if everyone was kind to you, Hoshina would still be the only one for you. When you met him, you hadn't laughed in years. You didn't even know if you remembered how to laugh. But then he took it as a challenge upon himself to see your smile, to coax a giggle from you, and you found it easier and easier to laugh around him, to enjoy yourself around him. He was the only person you enjoyed your time with.
After nearly a decade of reserving all the best parts of yourself, burying them deep inside you, feeling unworthy of allowing yourself any happiness, you felt you owed yourself this one chance to be free. To just be you. And if you could give yourself to anyone, you wanted it to be him.
You wanted to keep giving him things, to just give him everything. You wanted to give him your scarf in the winter, when you were scared he'd catch cold. You wanted to give him a shoulder to lean on when others were shitting on his inability to use a gun again (you hated useless criticism but you hated it even more when it was criticism of him). You wanted to give him your best jokes, you had none at the moment but you thought you'd learn just for him, just to see him laugh. You wanted to give him your happiness, give him your sadness, give him your secrets, give him your worries, give him your dreams, give him your days, give him your nights. Any part of you, every part of you, you wanted him to have them all.
You didn't know if he'd still love you, the good and the bad together, you didn't even know how much good you had to give, but you swore you'd dig for it, search for any part of you that would make him happy. Any part of you that could give him a good life, you wanted to give it. You wanted to try. And if you tried and still weren't good enough, you'd still thank him for allowing you a slice of happiness.
With all these thoughts in mind, you told yourself you'd tell him how you felt tomorrow. You collapsed in bed, ready for rest. You'd need it to prepare yourself for the big day.
Unfortunately you didn't end up getting any sleep that night.
You laid in bed and wondered if your heart would just freeze over again if he rejected you. You'd be okay with that. You think. You honestly didn't know what you were even supposed to do if he accepted you and wanted to be with you. Would you even know how to properly love and care for someone again? All you had been able to give people so far were blunt remarks.
What if you told him he sucked in bed? What if you told him you didn't like the way he snored? What if you couldn't shut up about all the things you didn't like him once you were dating? You didn't think you'd make for a very good girlfriend.
But even with that in mind, you still wanted to try.
Eventually, you hoisted yourself out of bed and went to go seek him out. You didn't have to go very far, he had been looking for you.
"Hey! You're up early today. Listen, I'm working on my skills with a single sword and I'm not happy with the way I'm progressing; you're the only one I trust to give me proper feedback. Train with me?"
You smiled at that. "Of course. Anytime."
You followed behind him as he led you to the training room. As you walked, you found your eyes roaming over his back muscles. You quickly looked down to the floor once you'd realized what you were doing. But then, in no time at all, your eyes had drifted back up again to take in every inch of his body. You really needed to tell him how you felt, it was getting cumbersome just existing near him. You needed him to put you in your place or let you run your hands all over him. You stopped in your tracks and he turned to look at you, puzzled.
"Before we do that, I need to tell you something."
"What, you're in love with me?" He joked, chuckling to himself.
You sucked in a sharp breath and then continued. "Yeah, that's pretty much the gist of it."
His eyes widened. "I was kidding. Oh my god, I was kidding. Wait, what?"
"Unfortunately, I'm not kidding. I'm in love with you."
He stepped towards you. "Why is it unfortunate?"
"Because I can't stop thinking about you. It's distracting."
He took another step closer. "And... what if I said I was fine with that? Distracting you?"
"You're okay with me loving you?"
He took your hands in his. "I'm more than okay with it- I'm ecstatic."
You exhaled loudly. "So you...?"
"I love you too. And I'd love to be distracted by you any day."
"I can do that."
You started with a kiss. You honestly didn't even know if you were doing it right and you were sure he could tell you were hesitant. But it seemed he'd been waiting for this as long as you were because he took in every inch of your lips eagerly and didn't seem to care how inexperienced you were.
And the longer you kissed him, the less you cared about how inexperienced you were. You just wanted to keep kissing him, even if you were kissing him wrong.
He must've just had his coffee because you could taste it on his tongue. But you didn't mind, his coffee was now your favorite coffee after all. And it made you even more desperate to be with him knowing that he must've just woken up, gotten his coffee, and then set out to find you.
The swarm of thoughts buzzing in your brain quieted when he suddenly pushed you up against a nearby wall, his kiss more earnest now. His lips seemed to be made for yours, the way they melted against you perfectly. His hips steadied yours against the wall as he cupped your face and claimed you over and over again with passionate kisses.
He was really the most delicious distraction.
You could get lost in imagining a future with him, but the present was pretty damn good too.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Author's Note: Yay, you made it to the end, good for you! Fun fact, kiss scene was not originally in the script for the finale, but I could hear @turtlesaee's commentary screaming at me for no kiss so I put kiss LMAO you have her to thank for the thirst at the end.

Lemon boy - Cavetown . Part 2
Tumblr media
"There once was a bittersweet man and they called him Lemon Boy. He was growing in my garden, and I pulled him out by his hair like a weed"
Riki Nishimura.
You were new to school and he was appointed as your guide. You tried to make friends with him but he wasn't very talkative.
Despite that, you were still nice.
You'd see him in class, which was all of them as you guys shared the same itinerary. Every time you spotted his eyes you'd walk over and smile, trying to strike up a conversation, he never had it.
He'd stare at you blankly, and walk away quickly. Not wasting any time to say goodbye.
You thought you got close when he finally replied to your nuance but he only let out a short "Okay" and walked away for what felt like the billionth time
"And like weeds do, he only came and grew back again, so I figured this time, I might as well let him be"
You were curious as to why he was so blank all the time so you followed him through his day. Not in a creepy way, he knew you were there, but he didn't tell you to leave so you continued.
The whole day he didn't speak to anyone.
He ate alone, walked to class alone, and studied in the library alone. Never once did you see him talk to a friend.
-
The next day you asked around.
"He doesn't have any friends."
"He's weird..."
"He never talks, it freaks me out"
"All I know is he's an asshole"
Mixed with
"Leave him alone, it's a waste of time trying to be friends with him."
"Why are you talking to him anyway?"
The weirdest was when a girl said "Don't talk to him...You'll be cursed for eternity." and walked away laughing.
Intrigued you followed him again the next day.
Not once did he bully anyone like everyone made you think. He didn't even look up from the ground most of the time.
You got tired of all the same replies people were giving you, not even actual intel on him, just insults and bad-mouthing. Until one girl told you to ask an old friend of his, Jake Sim.
You met him in his algebra class, which you conveniently shared with him. "Jake!" He looked at you with surprise, probably because a stranger knew his name, but you didn't let him ask questions before you started interrogating him.
The questions went on for about a minute before he got a chance to answer, but luckily he answered them without questioning why you wanted to know. Because that would've been another long minute.
"Uhhhhhh, it's confusing. He was being bullied for a while" He paused "Not like serious bullying but they told him he was annoying, talked too much, etcetera. You get the drill"
You frowned at him
"Well, why aren't you guys friends anymore?"
He sighed and looked away kinda guilty-like "He turned like... bitter. You know? I know it's not his fault but it got hard to be around him. Almost sour like a lemon" Jake mumbled the last part and looked down at his paper, only to look back up at you and see a scowl on your face, "like a lemon?"
"yeah, lemon boy. That's what everyone calls him"
You were thankful for the info but annoyed so you left without saying bye, grimacing at him on your way out
"Weird..." Jake thought
"Lemon Boy and me started to get along together"
You weren't going to let the mean things people said, or the warnings they advised, stop you from trying to be his friend.
He wasn't mean to you, if he was that would be a different story, but he's not. So you persevered
You continued to talk to him in every class, his chair being right behind yours made it easy. You'd talk his ear off during break and even started sitting at lunch with him.
The first day you did, you had seen him sitting alone at a table in the far back, right by the doors. You had sat in front of him, he looked up at you as you started talking.
This time he didn't get up and walk away (Though you wondered if it was just cause he was too hungry to walk away from his food), but rather he just sat there. He wasn't necessarily acknowledging you but he wasn't ignoring you either. He'd occasionally look up at you then go back to eating his food which was good enough for you.
"I helped him plant his seeds and we'd mow the lawn in bad weather"
At the end of the day, walking in the halls, you overheard the English teacher lecturing Riki about his dropping grade.
Telling him to either work harder or get a tutor. Even the teachers were mean to him.
It wasn't that Riki wasn't trying, nor was he dumb. Literature just wasn't his strong suit, and that's where you came in.
You barged into the room, happy and energetic as always.
The teacher pointed to you "Ah, here. She's doing wonderfully, why don't you have her tutor you?" You looked at Riki and smiled. The plan is going perfectly.
Riki on the other hand looked at you, then the teacher, then the ground, and walked out past you. The teacher glared at him and shook her head, looking back at her paper.
You simply just shut the door and followed Riki, like you had been for the past 2 weeks now. "I really don't mind tutoring you by the way! I love English" You ended it with a sweet chuckle
Riki just looked at you, took a deep breath in, and nodded.
He continued walking and you continued following him, assuming you were going to the library to study.
You were right, and when you got there Riki took a chair in the far back of the library, not without a few stares as he walked through.
Sitting down with him you didn't want to waste time.
You pulled your books out and started. English was your favorite subject so you were very excited which made you talk even faster then usual.
Riki's mouth slightly agape he muttered quietly, "Slow down please.." He looked up at you, "Just a little" he said even more muttered than the first sentence.
You, shocked at hearing his voice for the first time, sat there with your mouth open. It made him nervous so he looked down at his book and started flipping to the page you were on.
He let out a little "sorry." which you quickly said was okay, and told him not to apologize to which he nodded.
It was nice hearing his voice, kind of deep, and super quiet. It was clear he was shy cause it was a little shaky but you thought his voice was cute so you took what you could get.
He didn't say anything for the rest of the session, simply just nodding and letting out a small "Oh" here and there.
7pm, when you guys were finally done, you asked "Next week after school?" as you grabbed your bag and gave him a smile.
"mm," he replied, nodding.
You gave him one last smile and wished him goodnight.
"Goodnight Riki"
If only you had stayed for a moment longer, you would've seen the slight smile that made its way to Riki's face.
"It's actually pretty easy being nice to a bitter boy like him"
The weekly tutoring sessions continued, and so did talking to him in class all day, so did sitting with him at lunch, and so did following him around school.
You even started sitting right next to him at lunch, rather then sitting across from him.
It made him nervous at first but eventually, he started scooting closer to you.
Rather than just looking back between you and his food, he started reacting
"But it was so annoying cause he was like "It's my house if I want to eat the ice cream, then I can eat the ice cream" but man I bought it" You complained before stuffing a spoonful of rice in your mouth, not expecting Riki to reply at all but he let out a small laugh
It was the cutest thing you ever heard.
It was soft but real. Not some fake laugh, he seemed genuinely kind of happy.
You smiled at him but looked away when he looked back at you and finished your story.
Riki started replying to all the little stories you told him.
Whether it was his adorable little laughs or small "yeah?"'s, he was warming up.
"So I got myself a citrus friend"
Riki started talking first.
Poking your back in class to tell you a dumb joke, giving you little notes, telling his own little stories, ranting about his weekend.
At one point he even asked if you wanted to walk home with him.
You smiled big and loudly said yes, to which he replied with a laugh and said okay.
From that point on you guys started walking to and from school together every day, you spent all day at school together and you even started hanging out after school. You were completely inseparable at this point.
He was the sweetest person ever, he was kind, caring, gentle, and he had the cutest smile ever.
You didn't understand how people could hate such a sweet boy, but you were glad this lemon boy was your friend.

**Y/N's POV**
The motel room was a sweatbox, stifling and suffocating, a hellish trap I’d been exiled to while the others handled God-knows-what. My body felt like a furnace, the infection crawling through my veins like hot poison. The wound on my side, hastily bandaged, throbbed in a cruel rhythm that made me grind my teeth.
I couldn't think straight. The fever fogged my brain, warping reality, and when I thought I saw him—Soldier Boy, Ben—stride into the room, I just laughed weakly. My mind was playing tricks on me, obviously. No way the grumpiest bastard in the world had any concern for me.
“Good. Still got your sass,” the hallucination growled, kneeling beside me.
He knelt on the dingy carpet, his hands on my side, peeling the blood-caked fabric of my shirt away from the wound. His touch was gentle, far too gentle for a man like Ben, which was the clearest sign he wasn’t really there.
This wasn't real. Couldn't be.
When he sighed, a soft, almost regretful sound, it nearly broke me. “Damn it, Y/N. You look like hell.”
I managed a shaky laugh. “So that's your line to pick up girls, huh?”
His rough fingers paused for a beat before he resumed cleaning the wound with something cool. The sting bit through my haze, making me hiss.
“This is bad,” he muttered. “Why didn’t you want to go to the hospital?”
"Butcher said MM could fix me." He looked furious, "And where is he?" I tried to shrug my shoulders but the pain made me hiss again. "Damn it Y/N, you should have told me it's this bad."
I couldn't hold back a laugh, though it came out cracked and strained. “What were you gonna do? Offer to help? You hate me, Ben.”
The hallucination didn’t answer. Instead, it tilted a glass of water to my lips, forcing me to drink. I coughed, spilling a little down my chin, but he didn’t stop. His hand, steady and commanding, stayed firm on the glass until I swallowed properly.
“You’re not real,” I mumbled, eyes fluttering shut.
A hand brushed damp hair from my forehead. “Keep telling yourself that, sweetheart.”
---
**Ben’s POV**
Y/N was a mess. The infection had turned her pale skin sallow and her lips cracked. She was burning up, trapped somewhere between shivering and sweating buckets, and it was all my fault.
I should’ve seen the hit coming. Should’ve blocked it. Instead, I’d frozen like a goddamn rookie because some idiot hit her.
And now she was here, teetering on the edge, and the thought of losing her hit me harder than any blast.
“Idiot,” I muttered under my breath, pulling out the pathetic excuse for a first-aid kit Butcher had stocked. “Could’ve asked for a medic, could’ve gone to a hospital. But no, gotta be a tough little thing, don’t ya?”
I hated how shaky my hands felt as I cleaned her up. Every pained noise she made tore through me like a goddamn bullet. Worse, I couldn’t stop looking at her mouth, pink even when she was this sick, her lips parting just so when she sucked in shallow breaths.
“Snap out of it,” I told myself, rubbing at my jaw. But the truth was I’d been losing the fight ever since she joined the team. The way she laughed too loudly. The way she rolled her eyes at every little thing I said. The way she could throw down with Supes twice her size and somehow make it look graceful.
She drove me nuts. Couldn’t stand her.
Except I could. Too much.
“You hate me,” she whispered, voice raspy. Her glassy eyes fluttered open for a second, pinning me in place.
She wasn’t wrong. I’d made her life hell on purpose—snarky comments, side-eyeing everything she did, telling her how young she was, calling her 'kid' more to remind me of our age difference but it still pissed her off too.
Finding fault with the smallest things just so I wouldn’t act on what I actually felt. She wasn’t supposed to matter, but she did. More than she should.
Guilt clawed at my throat.
“I don’t hate you,” I muttered.
She let out a weak laugh, already halfway to unconsciousness again. Good. She didn’t need to see the raw truth crawling across my face, like I’d been flayed open.
I sat beside her the rest of the night, watching her breathe, forcing her to drink water every time she stirred. Every now and then, my fingers brushed against hers. Not because she needed it but because I did.
**Y/N's POV**
The next time I woke, sunlight poured through the grimy blinds, but my body still felt leaden, sluggish from fever and pain. My head spun, but one thing was crystal clear—I needed to pee.
“Anyone!” My voice was more a croak than a yell, and every syllable scraped my throat.
I couldn’t hear footsteps, but then, just like before, he appeared. Not a hallucination after all.
“What?” he grunted from the doorway, his face a mix of exhaustion and irritation. “Pain?”
“Toilet,” I wheezed.
He blinked, clearly annoyed, but without another word, he moved toward me. The bed creaked as he leaned down, one arm under my knees and the other around my back. He lifted me like I weighed nothing, and suddenly, my face was pressed against the faint scent of pine and leather clinging to his shirt.
“You couldn’t wait until Annie was here?” he muttered, carrying me into the tiny adjoining bathroom.
“Shut up,” I managed, too tired to come up with a better retort.
Ben set me down carefully onto the toilet, his hands lingering longer than necessary like he didn’t quite trust I wouldn’t tip over. Instead of leaving, though, he leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, one eyebrow raised.
I glared at him, despite feeling half-dead. “You’re watching?”
He raised both hands, palms out. “Relax, sweetheart.” He turned his back, standing with one foot braced against the doorframe, but he left the door wide open.
I couldn’t tell if it was to keep an eye on me or because he didn’t trust the locks. Either way, my cheeks burned hotter than they had all night.
---
**Ben's POV**
Once she was done, I scooped her up again and carried her back to the bed. Her arms wrapped weakly around my neck like she was hanging on for dear life, even though I had her. Carefully, I laid her back down, arranging the damp sheets around her. She winced as I checked the wound, peeling back the edge of the fresh gauze.
It still looked angry, red lines snaking away from it under her skin. Damn it.
“Drink,” I ordered, bringing the water glass to her lips again. She sipped automatically, her eyelids half-closed.
Her voice, barely above a whisper, broke the quiet. “Why am I not healing?” I stiffened. She didn’t know. She didn’t remember.
It hit me all at once: the rage, the blast, the fear, the way they all fell when I’d snapped. I’d taken everyone down, every damn one of them, the second I saw her hit the ground, blood spilling out of her side.
My hands shook just thinking about it.
But in the blast radius, there’d been her too. She’d been close enough to catch the edge of it. Not enough to destroy her physically, but enough to rip away what made her…her.
She wasn’t a Supe anymore. She didn’t have her powers, her healing. She was just human now. Because of me.
The truth clogged my throat, but when her cloudy, fevered gaze met mine, I couldn’t tell her. I couldn’t. “You got hit pretty bad,” I lied gruffly, looking away. “These things take time.”
My outburst hadn’t just taken away her powers—it had made me realize something I’d been trying to deny for weeks: she mattered to me. Not just as a teammate, or someone I had to protect. She mattered in a way that turned my gut into knots.
And now, because of me, she was fragile, mortal, breakable in a way that made my chest ache just looking at her. I sat down beside the bed and stayed there, holding her glass until she drank again, even as guilt burned a hole straight through me.
As I watched her fall asleep again.
**Y/N’s POV**
When I woke again, the world was blurry.
My throat was raw and dry, each breath like sandpaper dragging against my insides. A tray sat on the nightstand—some takeout box and a glass of water, untouched with a note, 'All out, here's food.' It was Butchers writing.
My stomach ached from hunger, but every time I moved, pain lanced through my side like a red-hot blade.
Reaching for the glass was a mistake. I barely got my fingers around it before a sharp pain stole the strength from my arm. The glass slipped, shattering against the grimy floor. The sound was almost too much for me. Weakly, I tried to move, trying to get up to clean it up, but my head swam and the room spun.
Eventually, I stopped trying and let sleep take me again.
---
**Ben’s POV**
When I came back, days had passed and everything smelled like old food. The motel room, never clean to begin with, had become a disaster.
But none of that mattered.
Because the second I saw her pale, frail body curled on the bed, fever burning higher than ever and skin stretched too tight over her cheekbones, something inside me snapped.
“Fuck.” My voice came out low, broken. I crossed the room in long strides, grabbing a bottle of water from the supplies. The glass on the floor told me everything—she’d tried to reach it.
“Sweetheart, c’mon,” I said softly, easing myself onto the bed behind her. My arms slid under her, lifting her weak body against my chest so she wouldn’t just flop forward. She was limp, her head falling against my collarbone, her skin cold and clammy despite the fever raging through her.
I tipped the water bottle to her lips. “Drink.” My voice wasn’t loud—barely louder than a growl—but I needed her to hear me. To wake up. “C’mon, sweetheart, you can do this. Drink.”
She stirred weakly, cracked lips brushing the bottle’s edge before her body slackened again. A soft moan escaped her lips, and it crushed me.
Not long after, the door burst open.
“Ben!” Mother’s Milk’s voice rang loud as he rushed in, his face pale and tight with worry. His hands clenched into fists, surveying the room quickly before his gaze landed on her. “Why the hell did you leave her here this long?”
“Don’t start with me, MM.” My tone was sharp, but my grip on her was softer than it had ever been. “I just got here.”
Butcher was close behind, a cigarette between his fingers as he took one look at Y/N slumped against me. He froze, his usual smug, careless attitude replaced by a fleeting hint of guilt.
“Yeah, she’s got a great nurse here,” Butcher said dryly, though his voice lacked its usual bite.
I glared at him, the anger boiling in my gut nearly strong enough to burn a hole right through him. “This is on you, Butcher. You were supposed to take care of her while I was gone.”
“Like I’ve got time to—”
“She didn’t even get water, you asshole! She's burning up!” I barked, cutting him off. Y/N shifted slightly at the sound, her breath shallow and rattling in her chest. I turned my attention back to her, my fingers brushing her damp hair off her forehead. She barely flinched.
Butcher raised his hands in mock surrender, but MM looked ready to only focus on her. “Look,” MM said, stepping closer. “Argue later. Right now, we need to get her stable. Ben, she can’t stay here like this.”
I nodded, though the thought of moving her anywhere sent a spike of fear through me. She felt so fragile, like the tiniest shift might shatter her completely.
“I'm going with her,” I said, my voice quieter, steadier now. “Not leaving her again.”
And I meant it. I wasn’t leaving her side—ever again.
**MM’s POV**
Y/N’s wounds were worse than I thought. The infection had spread, red and angry, seeping past the edges of her bandages. Fever had her trembling, her breathing shallow and erratic. I’d seen it before—blood poisoning.
“She needs a hospital, Ben,” I said, my voice steady despite the knot of worry in my chest. “She’s not gonna get better without stronger antibiotics and fluids. We’re way past the point of takeout, clean bandages and water.”
Ben didn’t say anything right away. He sat on the edge of the bed, his hand resting on Y/N’s clammy forehead, his jaw so tight it could’ve been carved from stone. Finally, he nodded, standing up and shifting to the side so I could wrap her up better in the sheets.
“Right,” he said, voice low but full of resolve. “We’re going.” Butcher, of course, wasn’t having it.
“A hospital?” he said, scoffing as he stepped into Ben’s path. “Think for a second, mate. You take her to a hospital, and every bloody supe in the world knows she’s down for the count. Not to mention the press. You want every spandex dickhead in the world hunting us down ‘cause they sniffed her out?”
Ben didn’t respond immediately, but something in his posture changed. He stepped closer to Butcher, towering over him, his gaze dark and dangerous.
“Move.”
Butcher stayed put, arms crossed, clearly digging in. “It’s not worth the risk. She’ll push through it. She’s tougher than—”
Ben grabbed him by the shirtfront, yanking him so close their noses nearly touched. Butcher’s cocky facade flickered, replaced with something uncertain.
“She dies,” Ben growled, his voice low and filled with lethal intent, “you die. Right after. You hear me, Buddy?”
The silence that followed was tense, almost suffocating. Butcher’s eyes darted toward me, and I gave a small shake of my head, silently backing Ben. I wasn’t about to let Y/N suffer any longer, no matter the risk.
“Fine,” Butcher muttered, wrenching free from Ben’s grip and smoothing his shirt with a scowl. “Do what you want. But when this goes tits up, don’t come cryin’ to me.”
Ben didn’t even look at him again. He bent down, gathering Y/N into his arms with a tenderness that looked almost unnatural coming from him. She barely stirred, her head lolling against his shoulder as he held her close.
“I’m not leaving her to die,” he muttered, more to himself than anyone else, as he carried her toward the door. I followed, determined to make sure she made it through this.
Butcher could whinge all he wanted. Right now, saving her was the only thing that mattered.

Deal or no deal
Azul x gn!reader
finally writing for my baby boy azul, i can't believe it took this long since i am an azul girlie myself
a very funny silly definitely innocent business man methinks
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"First, tell me what you desire. We can take it from there." Azul smiled slyly, interlocking his hands as he leaned on his elbows.
You were currently located in his private office, about to sign a contract with him. You had to think long and hard about coming to him, but you figured that if anyone can fulfill your wish, it would be Azul. You feel kind of guilty asking him for this in the first place.
You see, you've been in love with Azul for a good amount of time now, but are too afraid to make a move. You beat yourself up for being such a coward every day, and even moreso right now because you're about to ask him if he can make "someone you've had your eye on" fall in love with you. You're not sure what exactly he does to make it happen, but you hope it's doable without much instructions on your end. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Though you still feel like a bit of a villain for doing this at all.
Your guilt and nerves are probably showing in your body language, too. Which you suppose only makes Azul more interested in learning what you desire. You can practically feel the grins on the Leech twin's faces, too. It's like they genuinely like seeing you nervous and scared.
Why are they even here, anyways?
"I want... someone to fall in love with me. Someone who I've had my eye on for a while now." you fidget with your fingers, unable to look Azul in the eye when you say this.
"That's..." he tried his best to hold back from laughing but a snort escaped from his lips anyways. "Forgive the reaction, your wish was just... unexpected."
You suppose he thought your wish would be more sinister because of your body language. Or way more embarrasing. But still...
"Ehhhh, I didn't know Shrimpy was in love..." Floyd's eyes were slightly widened but his creepy grin was still as wide as ever. "It is quite surprising, indeed." Jade added on. By the suspicously calm way they're acting, you have no idea if the twins already know about your little crush and are just acting along or if they're actually surprised.
"Yeah, uhhh, I guess that's it?..." you had no idea what else to tell him. You just hope that this can be over as soon as possible since things are getting really awkward.
"I can certainly do something for you. Tell me, what is their name? They attend this school, I assume." Azul seemed delighted. Probably because that means he'll get free labour from you as a collateral. You don't have any magic to offer him, after all.
"T... their name? Is that required?" You froze up. There's no way you can say that. That would be the worst way for your feelings to get outed, ever. You suppose it makes sense, though. He can't do anything if he doesn't know who you're in love with.
"But of course it is. Don't worry, judgement has no place in business affairs." He smiled reassuringly at you. You felt your face heat up. No, no, nope. You can't do this. Not like this.
"You know what.... Never mind. I can't do it." You abruptly stood up from the cushy office chair, apologising curtly before practically bolting out of his office.
"Oh my god, that was so bad... oh my god..." you mumbled to yourself when you were out of Octavinelle. You just royally embarrased yourself in front of your crush.
Was it obvious?
.
"What was that about?" Floyd pouted at the direction of the door, which you left slightly ajar in your panic to escape the situation as soon as possible.
"Hmmm... how odd." Jade looked deep in thought about something.
"This is why I tell you to stop coming to my office when I'm trying to make a deal. You scared the poor thing off." Azul shook his head dissaprovingly.
"That wasn't our fault. Shrimpy was acting super weird the whole time anyways." Floyd defended himself and his brother.
"I suppose you're right..." Azul took a deep breath, seemingly... relieved? Not about the fact you ran away, but still relieved for some reason.
Jade made a realisation. "Oh. I see. I see."
He smiled knowingly at Azul, who raised a brow. "What is it? Is there something on my face?"
"No, it's nothing. Don't worry."
Azul gets the feeling that Jade knows something, but doesn't want to tell him.
"If you say so."

She's mine too —Mason Mount.
summary: annoying days of pregnancy with mason
warning: none. pregnancy, vomiting, discomfort.
words count: +1.5k
#SEXYNOTE: Merry belated Christmas and early happy new year y'all 💌 thanks for the support, i hope you are well. love youuuu 🩵
Tumblr media
You hugged the toilet after spitting up all the dinner of the night between sobs, you sighed taking a big breath of air, feeling your stomach churning again. It was the fifth time you had gotten up to vomit in the night and you were really exhausted. For at least a week you had been feeling this way but in the last two days, it had gotten worse and you couldn't even feed yourself properly as you ended up vomiting.
Did your son or daughter hate you? It was practically thanks to you that he or she was coming into this world, and this is how he or she thanked you? By making you spit out everything you ate? By making you feel so fragile and silly at the same time? You wanted to stay cheerful, positive and full of energy but your baby was slowly consuming you. This was nothing like what you used to hear about pregnancies.
You had never been through anything before and it really scared you. The doctor had said it was normal as long as you had constant checkups and you just had to put up with it, even though it was very hard for you and especially for Mason. Sometimes he felt that what he was doing for you wasn't enough and he hated to see you suffer but it wasn't his fault and it would pass. You sighed whimpering a little, anyone would say you were exaggerating a little (and maybe you were) but you were really suffering. Since four months ago your body had changed, your fears had become constant, dizziness, mood swings, tiredness, breast pain, you had even become irritable. Sometimes you felt guilty but it was inevitable, the baby was running your life (Not really).
But you had no regrets.
Being a mother had been one of your dreams growing up, you used to say you wanted to be like your mother and you really hoped you would be for this child. You were discovering this whole new world and you have to admit you thought it would be something else, at least you had a great man by your side. Mason used to make your endless days, the best experience of your life. He would massage your feet, fulfill your every whim, pamper you and take care of you like you were a princess.
You couldn't complain, you were perfect together and starting a family with him was another one of your biggest dreams. Because you loved everything about him, about the relationship, the respect and love you had. Because you admired how strong and respectable he was and how he behaved with you, your family and friends. Because you were in love with him and that your son had him for a father, it was the biggest pride you could feel.
A hand on your back caressed you, pulling your hair back into a makeshift bun. Mason held your hair and calmed your nerves as he appeared behind you. You hated waking him up in the middle of the night with your retching, especially since you knew he'd have to get up early in the morning but Mason was always with you.
"Don't tease me like that" you laughed exhaustedly after a while. "That's the reason i'm here, puking up everything i ingest."
Mason hid a chuckle behind his smile, trying not to laugh at your funny comment because of the situation you were going through. But it was inevitable, even in misery you were saying funny things to him.
"You suggested doing it, honey. If you had stuck it out, we wouldn't be here," he replied, earning a pout from you.
And it was true. Maybe if they hadn't had too many drinks that night and you hadn't been so horny, nothing would have changed and you wouldn't have found yourself right now. But you wanted this as much as he did, because you were talking about this and about the future, and this was the future, you becoming parents.
After a while without nausea, Mason took you in his arms, slowly carrying you toward the bed. He handed you a glass of water and when you drank some, he helped you lie down on the soft sheets, arranging the pillows on your back to make you comfortable.
"I must look terrible" you whispered a little shaken. Your cheeks were red, your forehead sweaty and you sure looked gross right now. Mason quickly denied.
"You are the most beautiful woman in the world" he murmured with his eyes sparkling. "You'll bring our child, you could never look terrible" his fingers caressed your face. A smile appeared on your lips as he kissed your forehead softly.
He took his place beside you, resting his head on your belly as he wrapped his arms around you. One of his hands caressed the protruding bump, which was growing bigger and bigger every day. You didn't know the sex of the baby yet but everything was within the norm for a pregnancy, something you were grateful for, and they were supposed to have news about the baby by the next visit.
"Baby, leave mommy alone for a while, okay? She's mine too" he whispered towards her son or daughter, drawing a smile from you. Your fingers tangled in her hair, stroking her chestnut locks. Your chest overflowed with feelings seeing him there and your heart filled with happiness at the image.
Mason on top of his baby, caressing your skin with his warm fingers, his eyes shining in his wonderful gaze. The reason for your happiness in front of you, your whole world. Your eyes filled with tears and you try not to cry but you were sensitive, everything hit you double, more when it was about your son and your boyfriend.
You were both terrified, you weren't going to lie, but since the test had come back positive and after a few months of waiting, you were ready for what was to come. You had learned to love each other, you had each other, you trusted each other and you were walking on the same side. Everything had been easier, since you knew Mason, you were always supporting and loving each other.
"The boys want it to be a boy to teach him to play football but honestly i want it to be a girl" Mason whispered turning back to your chest, still her hand held on the baby, caressing it.
"Is that what you want?" you asked with a giggle. Mason nodded. "Even Summer would take care of her and teach her" you mentioned and your heart fluttered with love as you imagined your boyfriend's niece with your daughter or son.
Mason smiled hugely.
"I want a boy too, of course. But we'll have time to bring him along after the baby girl" he joked with a grimace. You laughed out loud.
You were excited for the arrival of their son or daughter, they were counting the days since they had found out and memories were piling up in their memories of this special time. The wait was going to be hard but it would definitely be worth it when you had him or her with you.
