When you first joined the group, it was quite hard to fit in. Jyp wanted to make a mixed group. A group that would blow the internet up. Since Chan was choosing the members, he made sure the girl would fit in with the others. It turned out that you were the perfect fit for the group. Singing, rapping, visuals, you had it all. Chan took you under his wing as the oldest, making sure you felt as comfortable as you could get.

The boys were quite nervous around you. I mean lets be honest, its quite nerve wracking to know that a girl is gonna be apart of your group, meaning you have to be respectful, tidy up your space, make sure that the friendship stays platonic. It was hard for some of them of course, having a cute girl in the dorms was definitely exciting but it never bubbled up into something serious.

After a few years of getting to know the boys, writing songs together, practicing, talking.. you got used to them, and so did they. Any suspicion of romantic attraction was thrown out the window in their mind. They saw you as their little sister, besides Jeongin since you’re a few months older then him!

Is it just me or does anyone else not get the some antis insistence on their most disliked character being “ugly” ? I mean I understand why Stans do it. H & S stans always call the other character ugly for self validation and to be catty. That’s just annoying internalized mean girl misogyny. (Yes, I am under the belief that H & S females standoms tend to be filled with female misogynists as they say some of the most degrading stuff about women, I think theyre only secondary to gross incel dudebros.) They need to insult their “competition” because their self insert must be the only pretty girl in the series. Hence as to why you will see them making posts saying all the fans of the other girl are ‘fat and unattractive.’

But for Sns and just none self insert fans… I don’t get why they need to insist S or whichever other character is “ugly.”

Because she’s not… she’s average. I think her pink her is what makes it -seem- like her beauty is extraordinary since she’s literally the only character with that hair color but she’s not more physically appealing than say, Haku or Konan imho. Sai called her ugly but, he isn’t interested in women at all. He thinks ino is ugly as well. Most agree she’s pretty but the fact Sai finds her ugly is often ignored for whatever reason. Probably because she’s not a hateable as S.

Of course people will show a panel where S or H look bad to go “see!! See!! She’s ugly!!” But.. for every bad panel you can find a panel where they’re drawn in a fine manner. It’s just such a dumb debate… like it’s a fictional character… S is as attractive as she’s drawn in that given moment.

Why not focus on some real criticisms of their characters? I think the notion that someone has to be “ugly” to be bad is a very bad mindset.. like S could be as gorgeous as her fans say she is but she’s still a bad person. And that’s okay. Conveniently attractive people can be bad people. Being pretty doesn’t negate bad actions.

Also the “canonically ugly” argument for S is weird cause like you said, a bunch of characters called her pretty. Even then… rock Lee is considered ugly, I think he’s cute. Jiraya is considered ugly….. he is imo but people find him very hot for whatever reason. Even if S was canonically the ugliest creature in the entire universe of Naruto… she would still appear average to us the audience lol.

Completely agree with what you said. I find the whole debate on Sakura's looks unnecessary and uninteresting.

Another thing I dislike is when people hate on Hinata for her "fashion". Yes, she's a homely girl. But so what, no one is hating on Chouji or Rock Lee for their choice of fashion. I'd say it's just misogyny, women are judged by how much they appeal to men (aka how sexy they are). God forbid a girl wants to dress boring and comfortable, kill her.

My current WIP is very much IP but here’s something from a previous very early draft of what eventually became Truths and Consequences … that will probably find its way into the next one in some form (it’s a kinda Bixcassian follow up to the Brassian… but actually more Gen as it’s a Just Friends thing). Like a lot of my fics it’s set in the post-Sipo & Mimban “missing years” . Context effectively summed up as: Cassian has been a total dick to his loved ones again Because He’s Broken and In Denial but they and we love him anyway.

But Cassian wasn’t there. Bix walked the perimeter, knowing not to cross into the restricted areas, but could see no sign of his slight frame among those of the somewhat burlier Grapplers as they worked away on what looked like the remains of a huge Mon Calamari cruise ship. Her parents had apparently had a trip around the Naboo sector, once, on one of these. A wedding-holiday. They had said they had enjoyed it and by some more recent calculations Bix was able to wonder if she had been conceived on board.

Anyway. There was Brasso, at least. He spotted her and came over, removing his gloves as he walked. Bix had of course already contemplated talking to Brasso so she found it relatively easy to say “Where’s Cass? I’d like to talk with him” and even to smile to show that her feelings towards both of them were peaceable.

Brasso’s expression was immediately rueful. “Sorry to say he’s not here. He got fired last week. Kept turning up late. Fodim gave him a warning but he didn’t seem to care.”

“Oh,” was all Bix could say. She had immediate and unwelcome mental images of the reasons why Cass was repeatedly late, and looked away across the breakage yard as if hoping that she might be distracted by the ugly sights there.

She looked back when Brasso sighed again and shuffled a little closer. He was a big man and Bix had to tilt her head to meet his gaze, but it was worth it as his expression now was so kind, so understanding. So… honest. “Bix,” he said, “I’m so sorry things didn’t work out for you and Cass. I know it’s no comfort but he really didn’t mean to hurt you. I think he’s just… kind of thoughtless. Genuinely doesn’t think things through sometimes. Weird thing is, he’s so clever in many ways. When he did show up here, and when he did put his mind to the job he was absolutely brilliant at it - had a real eye for the valuable stuff and caught a few things we might have sent to the furnaces. But relationships… I think he’s pretty, um, inexperienced. I mean, you know - with the emotions. All that side of it. Like he… doesn’t know what to do with them. So he’s sometimes an idiot because of that.” Brasso appeared to redden a little here. As far as Bix knew, Brasso was a stranger to the whole relationships thing too, or perhaps he was just more skilled than most Ferrixians at keeping his private life private. Either way, she sensed his sincerity in all this.

It was her turn to sigh. “I thought I knew him. I really did. I trusted him completely. The weird thing is, I think I still have this instinct to trust him. But not… not like this. As a friend. I just want to be friends again. I miss him. I miss… how it was before.”

I ended up ditching this (getting very soso opera-y tbh) to have it told by implication instead so I suspect the follow-up will be taking a similar route with me publishing about one page for each 10 I write! But the Cruise Ship will be a thing.

Some Recent Art (Wakfu Fan OCs)

Some recent doodles on my Wakfu OCs + info dumping about them lol. Mostly gonna be focusing on my main OC Solaris (They/She) but some of my other OCs are gonna show up too.

This is Solaris!! They're a Xelor which are basically lowkey time wizards (but they can have other abilities like being able to float and manipulate Wakfu - the game's magic source - into temporary weapons). Although most Xelors are, like, smart and strategic with most of the class focusing on strategy, they're like super stupid and honestly more Iop-ish (basically the game's warrior class) than a Xelor but they don't gaf lol.

Despite the game literally focusing on combat, Solaris takes after me whenever I play the game (aka they can't fight for shit). Because their class focuses on strategy which is something they almost never do, they're usually the one party member that is sorta there to have fun and then die 2 seconds later.

Solaris also loves cats!! That's the whole reason why they have the mechanical ears and tail. Both are mostly for looks but the tail is also used for balance cuz Solaris is a bit of a klutz lol.

In this drawing they're holding Fadezo's first cat - Shitface. Even though Fadezo has like a billion cats in his possession, Shitface was the one Solaris connected to the most and she insists to take care of them whenever given the chance (though Shitface lives up to their name and is kind of a dick to Solaris lol).

The character introduced here is the one I was talking about earlier - Fadezo! He's the first character I created in the Wakfu game (and is also my first Wakfu OC) and he's sort of like the brains of the party next to Ria. He tries to take the game and his class seriously but he does enjoy messing around sometimes.

Oh also this drawing is more of an example of Solaris' behavior when it comes to combat lol. She's the type to just run right back into a dungeon after her health regenerates (or if she loses enough she just does some side quests to level up to unspeakable levels and then beat the dungeon in like 3 hits lol).

Like any other version of my sona, Solaris only has one eye that actually works but I decided to put the other eye to something that fits a Xelor and made it a clock! Canonically it only really moves when Solaris is casting spells but I like to imagine that in some reality the clock is also used as a makeshift watch.

The character next to her is named Ari! She's Ria's sister and is an Eliatrope (basically she can make portals and stuff lol). She's the life of the group and is a lot more lighthearted than everyone else - sort of like Solaris except she's actually decent at combat and uses her high energy to her advantage.

So fun fact! Solaris actually has a face under that mask lol. I haven't really thought of what it looked like but I think I'd like to just keep it up to imagination. I just imagine that whatever her face looks like Ria would probably be an asshat about it (aka the Dream face reveal "HES UGLY" reference lol).

Also the character introduced here is named Ari! She's Ria's sister and is sort of the more reasonable/the brains of the party. If it wasn't a group of friends she'd probably be the leader because of her maturity (despite her being the same age as Ari). She's a dragon but usually takes a more humanoid form because it's like way more convenient than being a giant dragon 24/7.

To end off this post, I have a quick doodle of the types of robotics Solaris would make!! Despite her not being the smartest, she's pretty good at creating little Wakfu-powered robots like the Sinistro (a small robotic owl that can be summoned in game). Solaris would spend most of her free time creating and working on making a fully functional robotic cat (but she finds real cats to be more fun to be around).

I'm probably gonna post pretty frequently but I have like 50 billion OCs with 50 billion different stories so it'll probably take a minute to see the same OC twice (however, Solaris is part of the different versions of my sona so you might see her around more often)!

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

89, but that's not quite telling the whole story. I've written a number of one-shot collections, and those have upwards of 200+ short fics in them.

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

As of right now, my stats page says 829, 334 words, but that's not correct really. I've abandoned/deleted/orphaned some works. The real number is probably over 1M.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I only write for Baldur's Gate 3 at the moment and that's gonna color the rest of the questions. Once I find a fandom that I like writing for then I tend to stick to that fandom for years. I'm interested in dipping my toes into the Pathfinder WOTR ficdom eventually, but probably only a little because my Golarion knowledge is real slim. If Dreadwolf is good, I'll probably wind up writing something for that as well. I wasn't very interested in video game fandoms for a long time, which is odd because it's only become more compelling as I've gotten older when I'm also playing fewer games.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Currently? I'm actually not at all surprised by this order, except for the one OC fic that managed to find its way there. That is pleasantly surprising, and I'm glad it's one that I also like a fair bit. 1. Take Me Under Your Wing (E-rated Aylin/Shadowheart/Isobel) 2. Black and Red and Smoking All Over (E-rated Shadowheart/Karlach) 3. Her Private Shore (E-rated Shadowheart/Asheera) 4. Arcane Mishaps (E-rated Shadowheart/Karlach -- yay, some t4t made it!) 5. Tasting Moonlight (E-rated Aylin/Isobel) Now, this tells a certain story on its face, but you have to remember that 4/5 of these were posted in Kinktober only two months after the full release of the game. That was the height of its popularity on AO3, and I highly doubt if these fics were released today they would have hit the same numbers. That also includes the Shadowheart/Asheera fic, by the way. I could see that one barely breaking 40-50 kudos these days. P.S. Stats are silly

5. Do you respond to comments?

Yes, all of them. I get quite a few, and with so many fics across a fresh fandom it means that I occasionally get newcomers to various niche fics. Sometimes people stumble into a pile of fics that they like in one of the ships, and it's so delightful when I see it. Same with people that I see reading Light Casts a Shadow in order :') Most of the fun in fandom is interacting with like-minded people, anyways. Kudos and such are also people saying they like the thing, but people actually coming out to talk to me are my #1 priority. I like to hear y'all's thoughts and even wind up chatting a little in some cases :)

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

When Everything is Dark and Guided Through Gardens Gray both have fairly angsty endings, but I think Melpomene might be one of the darker endings of my smutty fics. Fragrant is My Many Flower'd Crown is absolutely my angstiest non-smut ending though.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Almost certainly it's the final ficlet of my headcanuary collection, The Missing Piece. It's open-ended, but it's overwhelmingly saying that things will be all right.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Yeah, occasionally. The open stuff is a lot less common now, but there are a couple fics that have gotten pretty ugly comments. I moderate those away without locking down because my skin is plenty thick. I get a fair few anons, again thankfully reduced these days, that absolutely despise me. They make me laugh more than anything now because I've blocked so many. I've also seen some passive aggressive vague posting about me here and elsewhere, which is always hilarious.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Oh yes. Kinky, vanilla, descriptive and action heavy, flowery and emotive. All kinds, really. Usually trends towards loving and hopeful and sweetly emotional.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I haven't for BG3. Yet. There's a BG3/WOTR crossover that I really want to write, but I need to find the time for it between everything else.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yep, twice. And it was way more than one fic both times!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I don't think so? At least, not that anyone has ever told me. I'd love for someone to feel the urge to do that, though.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I don't think so? Technically, at least? I've certainly had writing brainstorm sessions that could count for this, but never anything where either of us wanted to call it co-writing.

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

Ouch. I don't really have an answer for this tbh. I like to compartmentalize ships to fandoms. BTW, it's Shadowheart/Original Female Character for BG3. Yeah, all of your Tavs and Durges. Asheera's my favorite, of course, but I've never been so invested in a Canon/OC ship.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

There's a fantasy AU I wrote for Parks and Rec with April Ludgate as a witch/vampire that I know I'll never get back to.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Emotional forwardness, probably. Maybe solid grammar? Writing speed? Anyways, I like to explore emotions explicitly with characters where they really feel everything to extreme degrees. It's hyperreal, but I think it's also compelling to both write and read.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Plotting, weak metaphors, and consistent characterization.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I do it fairly often in fantasy fandoms without qualms. Also, I tend to use the italicized text in fiction to indicate that it's a different language, not that it's "wrong" or anything like that. Doing that in nonfiction, however, feels pretty gross. Real world languages? I don't do it unless I'm familiar with the language or know someone that can beta it.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Technically wrote for? That's really hard to remember for me, but it was probably something like R.A. Salvatore Drizzt fanfic tbh. Could have been any number of fantasy series at that age though. The Dragonlance books, Black Company, or Discworld, maybe? Hard for me to really think back that far because I know for a fact that I used to write stories as a kid, but it's all very foggy and I lost all that stuff in a flood years ago. Posted for? A fandom I don't really want to associate with anymore.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

Bend to Break to Mend is my favorite thing I've written for BG3, followed closely by It Is the Wound She Gave Me and Like I Am Safe Again.

The “Eggman is actually an adapted insult from Sonic!” thing that we are now proudly reminded of every 20 minutes makes me irrationally angry so I’m going to put an unnecessary amount of effort into explaining why it sucks.

Supreme dumbass (although, perhaps not pointless) nerd rage below.

This seemingly innocuous thing is somehow emblematic of everything I do not like regarding how Sonic is currently handled. It:

- is one of the most blatant “Flynn-isms” (providing an explanation to something which does not need one entirely for the sake of winning brownie points with the fandom and “solving inconsistencies”)

- treats localized material like it is “equally as legitimate” as things which the actual creators of sonic made

- instead of taking the path of least resistance, the explanation is still convoluted and contradictory with other information, therefore meaning its purpose of “solving things” isn’t even fucking accomplished

- makes Eggman, the character, less interesting.

Let’s make a ground rule clear: his name is supposed to be Eggman. We could talk about the merits of “Robotnik” as a name as much as we like, but the fact of the matter is, whether you like it or not, his original, intended name is Eggman. And it works, because this character LOOKS like a fuckin Egg Man.

“Eggman” is a great name because it makes him seem silly and non-threatening, not in spite of it. Eggman is a character defined by contrast; he’s smart, but he’s also kind of absent-minded. He sometimes looks friendly, but he can also look scary and ugly under the right conditions because of his toothy grin and vibrant, perfectly circular glasses. He’s quite jolly and funny, but also capable of extreme anger and desperation.

He seems silly and harmless, but is capable of single-handedly destroying entire ecosystems and designing scarily effective hedgehog killing machines.

He’s trying to do things he think will “improve” the earth, but he ruins it in the process.

If you make Eggman purely evil and imposing, you miss the point of Eggman. These are traits Eggman has in common with actual strangely intelligent manchildren. I would know.

However, I would argue the single most key thing about “Eggman” as a name is it’s second half: man. Eggman is generally representative of humanity and it’s insatiable desire for “progress,” at the cost of everything in its way. And, you know, the “Egg” half is self explanatory.

So, personally, I would say that there is not much reason to try and legitimize “Robotnik” in the first place, beyond it sounding cool and having a pun in it. Eggman is not only more fitting, it is more meaningful.

This is all relevant, because this “adapted insult” shit is spawned exclusively from a desire to try and make the way it was for Americans in real life- Robotnik “changed” to Eggman- the case in THE ACTUAL IN-LORE CANON OF SONIC THE FUCKING BLUE CARTOON HEDGEHOG, for some god forsaken reason. This whole Robotnik thing is also the primary headliner for how the American versions of non-American stories are now given more priority, because they are the more well-known versions, which more or less only serves to retroactively simplify the actual themes Classic Sonic was going for. Why would you do this as a storyteller, unless you were irrationally trying to make everything “equally valid?” It’s supremely shitty to do this fandom-satisfying stuff when viewed from a lens of actual artistic integrity. (And it also makes trying to convince people that Classic Sonic has more going on than it looks a god damn nightmare because they live in this ouroboros-esque feedback loop of misinformation)

And you can’t argue that his name was Robotnik in-universe up until SA1, anyways, and that all of this “wasn’t actually in the games, so it doesn’t contradict anything if it’s retconned!” These things come up all the time in these debates already, and you’re probably bored to tears of hearing about them, but I’m going to use them anyways.

Lol.

You could argue that “oh, he just adapted the insult before Sonic 2!” to which I have to ask, what’s the god damn point, then? Congratulations. He is “Robotnik” for one, maybe two games. You’re not getting what you want out of this, either.

Well, now we have an interesting question on our hands. Why WOULD he call himself “Eggman?”

This is where things become more headcanon-y, but it’s all extrapolated from actual character quirks of Eggman’s.

“Adapted insult” is honestly fiiiine as another “he’s always trying to be one step ahead of Sonic!” thing, but the logic is really tortured and it’s far more interesting to explore “Eggman” as a conscious, self-chosen name.

Consider for a moment how egotistical and proud of himself Eggman is. He genuinely thinks he is the single most awesome specimen there is, he’s so proud of his intelligence and vision that he oftentimes forgets the most basic of logic, in a “you forgot the first rule of X!” sort of way.

Eggman is also a businessman. And all businessmen are obsessed with one thing above all else: marketing.

And so, I choose to interpret “Eggman” as him deliberately selling his image as a perfectly spherical weirdo with a big mustache. It could even be something like a “superhero name,” he’s so proud of it that he wants everyone to know it and respect it. He is the Eggman, that’s what he is, and don’t ask again.

If he came up with a catchy name for himself and started plastering it everywhere, every single person would eventually know who ��The Eggman” is. And it’s not like Eggman is insecure about being fat, or whatever; again, he thinks he’s perfect. “Eggman” is a name he’s both proud of and is great for marketing.

i don't really vibe with the alien stuff either, to be honest when i just started rewatching i was a bit baffled by how... idk, right-adjacent this whole "outsiders are enemies, we need to protect our country" stuff is. maybe i'm imagining it though, i can't coherently put it into words but it left me 🤨 huh never noticed this before. besides it's boring and ugly. i stopped following the manga closely after the arc that came after shogun assassination but i remember watching the final movie in the cinema and it was literally just 2 hours of non stop boring alien fighting and i feel like that thing dragged for 2 years in the manga, the last few arcs they go to space and they just keep fighting space animals over and over and it has no meaning or definition and then it ends. i don't really care about yato as a whole to be honest but they were soooo underutilized, they're like this superhuman quing dynasty lite but the only prominent characters are kagura's family and mutsu (who wasn't even known as yato for most of the story and then it's never brought up again) like they were so fumbled. i think in the end literally everyone was fumbled because every single character needed to be scraped off the board to make space for the annoying ass ugly insufferable mc because god forbid his dick is not being sucked for 0.2 seconds

this is a safe space for haters ✌️😤 all in all the forte of this series has always been the comedy and that's why i picked it up and liked it in the first place... and it's still funny. given lots of grace we can say that some of its serious stuff is also mildly entertaining but it should have never deviated from being funny imo, but i find my rewatch quite fun to be honest. all things considered up to a certain point it's not a bad series at all

wada sez: A Bludgeon-focused strip set in an alternate version of IDW's continuity—sort of along the lines of Evolutions. Mas offered his own commentary on the strip on his deviantART; I’ve mirrored it and some behind-the-scenes material below, along with an entirely separate strip in a similar vein written by Enric Farguell that was apparently rejected by the Mosaic editors on the basis that it wasn’t “sequential art”. I decided to reach out to my friend Sam to get an independent view on the strip’s cultural background:

Sam sez: So Sekigahara was one of the last big battles of the warring states period. The narrator is a Toyotomi loyalist, while the Tokugawa he is talking about is Ieyasu Tokugawa, who will win the battle, establish the Tokugawa shogunate and his territory of Edo will become capital and eventually modern day Tokyo. It’s basically standard tonal samurai stuff, all “my death brings honour to my family” and that. A bit orientalist in tone here for sure, but there’s an element of truth to be had. The thing is there’s an official Transformers thing from Japan that is exactly this—not exactly, in that Bludgeon isn’t there, but there was a Warring States/Transformers crossover thing during the Age of Extinction windup. [wada sez: Sam was thinking of a collaboration between TakaraTomy and a company that made actual armor/swords inspired by Sengoku period factions, and also wanted to mention that one time the protagonist of Sengoku Basara showed up on Q-Transformers.] The thing about Japan is that this is all happening 500 years ago so it’s about far out enough for this to be easily mined for fantasy stories. Lots of fiction about what if there were literally demons on both sides and such.

Well, I think it's one of the mosaics I've made that I like the most.

I think it is quite complete in many aspects, we have on the one hand a small historical study of documentation.

It is one of the most famous battles in the history of Japan, Sekigahara, which ended up deciding the Tokugawa Shogunate with Oda Nobunaga, for the next 300 years and which was one of the bloodiest in memory.

So... somehow I link what is the IDW transformers universe with real facts, as we know, in the IDW universe some important politicians or military leaders are under decepticon influence, in Infiltration, but... because they couldn't start said infiltration from Japan?

It could have been, and that is what I wanted to propose, so whoever was Shogun won this battle thanks to some decepticons infiltrating their ranks, commanded by a Bludgeon, something that seems obvious to me since its samurai-style design always amazes me. It seemed a bit unjustifiable.

However, the story is told by a general in the ranks of Toyotomi. Trying to follow the samurai spirit a bit, it follows that this samurai is going to die. I took this image from a statue in Japan and it served me very well both for its pose and its shape to convey what I wanted, also, we can say that... it is another nod to something existing.

I know that maybe it is a bit complicated to read, but I was interested, since the story is told by a guy, that the typography was more calligraphic, so to speak.

The last balloon surely costs more, the one in Bludgeon, but it is intentional, as you can see, its appearance is very unpleasant, and I wanted the test globe to convey the same thing, that it be dirty, illegible, aesthetically ugly, unpleasant, in order to help give the personality of Bludgeon, who by the way, already gives a clue about the Infiltration that we said before.

Even so, I think that on the mosaics page there are problems with the resolution, a pity.

If you look closely, my signature appears with Japanese characters at the bottom left, and the whole frame has a great job, the blood stains are evident why I have put them, and if we look at the page as it progresses, it acquires that reddish tone, giving to understand that the battle hardens.

Another detail is the Mosaic logo, which... if we look closely, I decided to put a "What if..." implying that it was a kind of separate universe. In addition, in the header, we have the signs of the two banners, if you search a bit, as a curiosity you will see that the one on the left is the Tokugawa sign, mixed with the decep symbol.

And a little more.... I did the page in pencil with gradients, it is a very grateful technique but somewhat slow and tiring, however, it turned out well.

You have any advice on how to color your work, your art is amazing!

After two years I finally reply to you hi anon hi <3 <3 now I think that this was sent when I was more active with using Rebelle (still love it, but don't use it as much these days!) - back then it was a lot of pure colour theory and eyeballing which I've honestly since forgotten a lot of lol but bear with me here. I'll throw down a step by step as to how I do my stuff nowadays in the latter half of this post.

first off this video is a super helpful watch.

also read james gurney's colour and light, even if just skimming through it.

also also get familiar with the different colour zones of the face lol

also also also get familiar with the planes of the face, they'll help a lot when it comes to rendering out shadows and light. Love using this reference tool here.

now, for the things I keep an eye out for...

knowing your basic colour theory, complimentary colours, etc etc

playing around with colour, not being scared to make mistakes because hey I can just start a new layer lol not the end of the world if some colours end up looking ugly. Don't be afraid to copy/paste your sketch and play around with different rough colours to get a good idea of what you're looking for.

going into it with a few colours in mind that I'd blend everything from to make it all cohesive. choosing 4 or 5 specific shades and blending everything from that, typically avoiding pure black or white. In rebelle I'd typically blend those colours myself to get all the other hues and tones I needed just using the palette mixer, just like real paints

lots of flipping between grayscale and full colour to get a good sense of values, not being scared to darken or lighten areas as needed

I have a tendency to only focus on rendering one side or the other, so to speak -- leaving the shadowed parts fairly detail-less and focusing all of my rendering in the light side, or vice versa

I tend to designate one colour to be 'the dark' or 'the light'-- typically a dark teal or light yellow with most of my stuff lol -- and use that base colour in all of the shadows/highlights on a piece

keeping in mind the way different colours and lights will reflect off of surfaces and hit other surfaces? not the best with this one admittedly but never be afraid to take some colours from the hair and brush it onto the face, colours from the face and brush it into the hair, colours from the background and brush it onto everything, etc etc

I'm still using a lot of saturated colours even in the shadows ; I'm typically not introducing a lot of grays or blacks into a piece, even in the shadows. While of course my shadows are darker than the lights, I mostly distinguish them by colours -- once again, one colour being the 'dark!'

remember that the areas of highest contrast are where your eyes will be drawn to. i tend to tone down the contrast away from parts that aren't quite as vital to the drawing

most people seem to like to add shadows selectively over the piece, but I instead like to carve out the light. Cover the whole image in shadow using a multiply layer, and then erasing where the light is hitting.

layering layering layering, playing with undertones! colour in large swaths of the face with a colour that you want to have show through, building up layers of colour on top of that.

whenever I mix a new colour for something -- i.e to darken part of the eyes -- I try not to only use it in only one spot. I add a hint of it into some strands of hair, a subtle touch of it into some of the shadows. Otherwise I feel like the colour stands out too much and looks disjointed, like it doesn't belong.

don't feel like everything has to be fully smoothed out! Feel free to keep parts of it rough! Keep raw texture showing through!

When I'm adding in undertones, I go for yellow around the nose, forehead, and corner of mouth ; blues around the jaw and under the eyes ; reds over the cheeks, nose, and ears. your character is gonna look like a clown but i promise just trust the process lol

I also like adding in darker or more saturated colours around the edges of hard transitions between light and shadow to help really distinguish the values.

NOW FOR THE ACTUAL STEP-BY-STEP... GUIDE? PART OF IT.

In CSP I've got it down to more of a formula than anything. I start off with a real rough sketch, chunky brush, just trying to figure out where everything is going ; I refine any facial details but I'm not too worried about having the likeness spot on exact at this point. Lots of lasso tooling things around. Typically I do this all on one layer, but sometimes I'll let myself have a second layer with a more refined sketch that I work from instead. At this point I do one of two things

I make a layer below the sketch layer and fill it with local colours - the 'pure' colours of the objects. I set the sketch layer to multiply, lower the opacity a tad, and merge it down; or

I make a layer above the sketch layer, fill it with local colours covering the sketch, lower the opacity of the layer, and use a colour that's a shade or two darker than the local colours to roughly refine the outlines of the sketch. Bring the opacity back up to normal, merge down.

I've added in the undertones of the face at this point -- those yellows, reds, and blues -- and I'm working with only one layer. I'm still tweaking the features, lasso tooling things around, carving out edges that don't sit right, filling in any gaps in the painting with colour to hide the holes.

and then, once everything's roughly where I want it, I'll start playing around with multiply & overlay layers. Sometimes I use soft light instead of overlay, I just go by feel. I mess around with colour schemes to see what I like best, and sometimes I'll completely erase the lighting and shadows and try different lighting angles.

I make a new multiply layer, mess with the opacity to my liking, clip/mask it to the layer below, and go to town. I'll typically fill the whole layer with a colour I want for the shadows, carve out the lights, and then come in with an overlay layer that I selectively fill in where the light hits the character's face. Don't be scared if it overlaps the multiply shadows, it adds more colour variety to work with.

Merge the multiply layer down into the base layer. Merge the overlay layer down as well. And then I just... start going to town.

I ended up using a light blue multiply layer and pink overlay layer. I take the colour I used on the multiply layer, and directly apply it to different parts of the shadows to help the colours pop ; same with taking the colour I used on the overlay layer and the highlights. I like to put special focus around the eyes when I'm bringing in said colours.

99% of the time at this point I'm just colour picking from different parts of the painting, not bothering to select new colours from the colour wheel unless I've gotta start pushing my values a bit should details get muddy ; typically done by colour-picking an outline colour and dropping it in value a little bit. I take colours from the highlights and mix them into the shadows and vice versa, help harmonize the colours a bit. I'll colour pick from the face and add those colours into the hair even.

After that it's sort of just... rendering it all out. Paint the rest of the owl?

Sometimes I'll hit the highlights or shadows with another correction layer to try and push the value contrast further if I feel like it isn't quite enough.

I use the same brush throughout the whole thing -- I'm using CSP's default thick oil paint brush, that's had the dual brush mode enabled and the colour jitter toned right down because I found it lagged my computer ✌️

p.s don't be afraid to reference the methods that traditional artists use! Look at how they do brush-strokes, lighting, colours, layer things all together!

p.s.s also don't be afraid to fuck up lol. experiment with new colours and lighting schemes. play with colours that you don't like playing with. push yourself even if you think it's gonna suck. sometimes pieces need you to take multiple passes to it before you get something that sticks

also this is not the be all end of all advice do whatever your heart desires lol this is just how I do things ✌️🐛

omg this has been a draft for like forever lol. ok more about Amira. ft the one finished piece of digital art I have of her lol this image is all over my blog.

she's a princess within the Mizumi family, who are regional royalty/nobility while the Organa house is the royal family of the whole of Alderaan. she's the daughter of the younger daughter of the Head of House, so Amira isn't really in line for the throne. lucky her, she doesn't want any royal duties getting in the way of her life (never mind that she doesn't even know what to do with her life before she finds out she's force sensitive). quick chart to kind of explain:

the little crown represents where the succession line goes.

so Fliss'aa is a princess too, though takes her obligations a bit more seriously. (sorry, *was. it's star wars. gotta have dead parents in there somewhere.) fliss'aa was a princess, and married rosalie, who was the head of the royal guard under the Mizumi division. the two of them died in a space car accident (which might have been a political assassination) when amira was about 11 years old.

so amira is a force sensitive, on a core world, born to very public, high ranking figures, who are on very friendly terms with the jedi, and yet wasn't taken in to the order? well, the reason is that amira was a rainbow child. specifically, she was born after a lot of struggles through conceiving. so rosalie and fliss'aa were extremely overjoyed and very attached to amira when she was born. so they couldn't deal with the idea of 'losing her' and not being able to raise her as a family. obviously the jedi were fine with this and respected their wishes (they're not child snatchers lol) and left them to it. amira's mums had planned to tell her that she was force sensitive, and what that means, when she was older - but they died before they got the chance. the rest of the family didn't know about this, so couldn't tell her when they took amira in to raise her. she only found out when leila and cedar were deployed to her palace and she became close with cedar.

the Mizumi house is largely represented with a diamond/angled square motif such as below. the base shape represents the house as a whole. its the simplest shape because people would most often be referring to the main royal family, and then any derivatives or subdivisions will have variations on that diamond. for example the royal guard has 'spikes' coming off of each corner.

(excuse that its a bit of a shoddy sketch lol pretend its all even and good looking)

a lot of stuff was passed down to amira from her mums. amira's crown was originally fliss'aa's, and amira also got rosalie's guard captain coat and helmet. the helmet looks very similar to this alderaan trooper helmet from swtor, but a more solid back like a clone trooper or mandalorian (I think the half back from swtor is kinda ugly lol at least for what I want)

braids are a large part of alderaanian culture. when amira was a kid, fliss'aa used to help to braid her hair loops like below. after they passed, amira struggled to do the braids herself and started to just tie it as rough, low pigtails. she was still able to do the braids in front of her face since they're in an easier position and also smaller. at some stage, there's a heartwarming scene where cedar (who is also of alderaanian heritage) helps braid her hair for her while she gets to wear traditional alderaanian clothing (taking inspiration from kimonos/yukatas) and they frolick in the fields embracing their culture. not shown here is that amira's clothing has a pattern of spoonbills on it, and that this is also inherited from her parents.

spoonbills are a real life animal that I think are so perfectly star wars animals that they're native to alderaan now. the Mizumi palace is on a great lake*, which also happens to home a lot of spoonbills. so think that the robe has a pattern similar to this yukata but with spoonbills

*Mizumi is the japanese word for lake. as the palace was built on the lake, that's what the family were named for

there's. so much. I could say. about my characters. amira has dark eyebrows from rosalie. and a round face from fliss'aa. she found a kyber crystal and felt a strong connection to it [unknowingly the force] and now wears it on a necklace.

I want there to be a lot of themes about connecting with her heritage - both her culture as an alderaanian, but more personally with her deceased parents too. honouring her parents and her planet.

Super Mario Bros 6

Naked and absolute disclosure here, Super Mario Bros 3 is my favorite side scrolling platformer and will always be my favorite side scrolling platformer. It is a load bearing game that my taste are built on top of. It's the first platformer that truly clicked with me. It is the gold standard for which I compare all games within the genre to. The jump arc, the momentum, the stage length, the density, the secrets, the art, the music. If a platformer doesn't land in the same ball park of quality in these areas, I'm going to want to play Super Mario Bros 3 again instead. Especially if it’s another Mario game. And it's not like I think it's a perfect game. OK, I actually do think that, but I understand that human beings are flawed and may not be able to comprehend its brilliance like I am able to. I know that there are theoretically things that it has been surpassed in, but in practice it has never felt that way. I’ve been playing 2D Mario games my whole life and never have I had the thought "Oh yea, this is better than Mario 3".

Super Mario World is not better than Mario 3. The movement is a bit too loose, the way power ups work is ass backwards, some of the more dull levels go on a bit too long, the spin jump being a separate button is an abject affront to nature, level motifs are sparse, and the game is kinda ugly looking. The game introduced a bunch of stuff I appreciate. The interconnected world map is brilliant and really pushes the exploration elements of the series with its use of secret exits. And it may seem like a small thing, but I adore being able to throw objects upwards. At the end of the day though, I'd rather just play Mario 3.

Super Mario Land 2 is not better than Mario 3. Again, the movement is too loose for me, Mario’s Sprite takes up a 5th of the screen real estate, and like all Game Boy Mario games, the OST pile drives its leitmotif into a cemetery of dead horses. Please Game Boy Mario games, I’m begging for you to have more than one song. It's a good song, but I'd rather there be 5 new songs than variants of the same thing Ad infinitum. The Non-linearity and the creative stage motifs are unparalleled among 2D Mario, but I'd still rather play Mario 3.

The New Super Mario Bros games are not better than Mario 3. Yes all of them. And it really just comes down to how bland those games are. They all have the same general look and vibe which I find to be the least interesting these games get aesthetically. I even prefer World visually over these games just because it's not milquetoast. The level design is solid in basically all of these games but they don't introduce much new ironically. I like the move set additions like the ground pound, wall jump, and mid air spin, but there's a reason I lump them all together. They could have called it Super Mario Bros 5 Episode 1-4 and the titles would make way more sense. Nothing stands out, so I'd rather just play Mario 3.

So recently I played Super Mario Bros Wonder. On a surface level, nothing seems amiss when playing this one. The visuals are different for the first time in 20 years. Every action has soulful flourish and the animations have weight and personality to them. There is a distinct color palette associated with this game and every level is brimming with visual ambition. Most importantly, you can play as Daisy which strongly distinguishes it from every existing Mario game. The game also controls exactly how a modern Mario game should. You have the same kit you had in New Super Mario Bros Wii, but you have the ability to move at a fast pace with minimal actions that decimate your momentum. Not once have I shamefully blamed the physics of this game for my shortcomings. It's that tight and fine tuned.

On a deeper level though, Wonder has a lot going on under the hood that solidifies it as one of the more impressive Mario titles. The level design is probably what stands out the most about Mario Wonder to me. Each stage is solidly design and slowly introduces its concepts and builds upon them throughout in fair and reasonable ways. This is what's expected of Mario games. Every Mario games since the first New Super Mario Bros has been like this. There's not much to take issue with, but also not much to sink your teeth into. That's to be expected when your levels are designed so carefully that they end up always playing it safe. I think what's been missing from Mario games for a while is flavor. Mario games are always nutritious, but they have no spice. I play them, and then shortly forget about them and don't desire to return, they are simply sustenance. I played New Super Mario Bros 2, liked it enough, and immediately wiped my brain of all data related to it. And I get why these games are made this way. I'm never frustrated by anything or dreading a specific part of these games, while there are some stages in others that I ignore if possible. But I still enjoy the more volatile titles because they take those wide swings and have more personality. I need my Mario games to have an unhinged idea every now and again.

From the soil that is the sturdy foundation of 2D Mario, sprouts the Wonder Flower, and with it, a garden of brilliant and deranged concepts for levels. Mario Wonder isn't about just completing levels, it's about collecting Wonder Seeds. It's more a kin to 3D Mario games where collectibles are used to unlock levels. Wonder Seeds are Power Stars, Shine Sprites, Moons, Cat shines etc. You find these seeds by completing objectives. This means not just beating the level or finding the secret exit, but also completing the Wonder Flower variation of the level. The Wonder Flower is a usually hidden object that distorts the current stage into a Salvador Dali Dreamscape. When this flower is in play, the framework the game is built within becomes far more malleable. The geography around you shifts and comes to life. The character you play as completely warps in how they function. Even the camera angle of this 2D sidescroller isn't safe from this floral menace. The Wonder Flower is a game changer and makes every level more interesting. And the fact that it's optional really leans into the replayability of the game. The Wonder Flower sort of turns the level into a B-side alternate version. Sometimes the Wonder Flower mechanic can be annoying or maybe get in the way of exploring a certain aspect of the level. So there are times where you won't want to activate it. I appreciate branching level structure being handled in this way. It feels more natural to come back to a level to see the Wonder version or Standard Version rather than just have hidden extra level planted inside.

Wonder is a game that gives you options in how you approach clearing a level and it extends beyond the decision to use the Wonder Flower or not. Far more options are available for how you move your character rather than how the level shifts. Throughout the game you will unlock and purchase badges that you can select before each level. This acts as a sort of load out you use per stage, similar to how you'd select a power from your inventory on Mario 3. Each badge modifies your movement in ways that can drastically change how you approach level design. There are badges that increase your speed that will aid you in clearing levels faster. Glides and double jumps to help in platforming. There are badges that are only really useful in certain situations like the one that gives you the ability to dash underwater. There are badges that aren't functionally super useful but are just fun to use like the grappling hook one. Baby badges that act as an easy mode; Unhinged badges that act as a hard mode. Badges spice up gameplay in a way that is unprecedented, and it's strange how it's unprecedented because this is not a complex or high concept idea. In fact I wish they went further with it. There are some difficult levels in the back half of the game that require expert badge use, but I would have liked to see more levels that were hard, but didn't require badge use. This makes the choice you have in badge selection feel like it matters more because your choice likely led to your victory rather than what it was in my play through: rigid challenge with no room for freedom, or easy levels where the badges were just a bonus.

Despite the level design being solid, it might be the one major mark I have against the game. They feel so meticulously designed that there's not a lot of freedom in what you do despite there being freedom in how you do it. Previously titles were linear for sure and had their fair share of secrets along the way, but those secrets were better spread out due there being more height. Linear only indicates the direction the level takes. It's doesn't have to be shaped like a thin line. Mario 3 and Mario World had more rectangular levels where you could explore high up areas at your leisure. Not just when the level allows it. This is because both of these games gave you ways to fly in some capacity. Mario 3 had the Raccoon power up while Mario World had the Super Cape. There's no power up like that in Wonder that needs accounting for its vertical mobility.

Don't get it twisted. All of these new power ups are winners. The elephant power is visually the most fun power up in the series and its utility leads to some fun puzzles. The bubble power up is offensively devastating and I can imagine bubble jumping being some high level skill within speed runs. The drill is the power up that takes full advantage of the more cramped level design and because if it, this game has hands down the best cave stages in the series. These are all welcome additions, but they don't replace the vertical exploration I found myself missing after I finished my playthrough.

I feel like if that vertical element was in place, this would likely be an all time favorite platformer for me. But it's missing that and a bit more. I feel like despite this being the most different Mario in years, there are some instances where it could have gone the extra mile. It's cool how secret exits and a roamable world are in play, but most of the exits don't lead to sequence breaking short cuts and the extra world being a measly 10 levels is super deflating. Another world of levels between piss easy and ball crushing difficulty would be more than welcome. But we never get that. The Wonder Flower modifications make levels more interesting, but the same motifs as always are being used here. The story being included is a nice change of pace, but it would be a nicer change if it was good. Wonder does a lot of things to impress, but doesn't really feel like its the best Mario game in any category. Except the final boss fight which elevates the franchise in that regard.

So in conclusion, it's pretty good. One of the best 2D Mario games overall. I'd rather play Mario 3 though.

SakuLee.. I actually thought they were going to be a thing when I first saw the show because no way Sasuke was ever going to give in to her advances. And I was right about that last part because he didn't. And gradually Sakura was little by little being a bit nicer about Lee when she decided to visit him at the hospital.. and wow!! For her, that's amazing development because at the time and even now her entire character is based on that selfish love (Kishimoto's words not mine) she has for Sasuke. And so she even said to Ino that the flowers she brought with her weren't just for Sasuke- it was explicitly stated in the Manga- so that visual AND text said a whole lot about her... buuuuuut then that went down the drain real fast too. And so, no this ship doesn't make sense but I think it could've been if x, y and z..

ObiRin!! Okay, I know I have KakaRin in the category where I get that people ship it, but not ObiRin- why? Because Rin loved Kakashi and not Obito. And so shipping ObiRin for me doesn't make sense since I am also against other one-sided ships. Rin to me however is an entirely different character from.. let's say Sakura or Hinata and so are the dynamics between them within Team Minato. Rin genuinely cares for both Obito and Kakashi equally, but she doesn't love Obito in a romantic sense. She also didn't chase after Kakashi rabidly trying to get him to like her back, that's why, although Rin showed many gestures towards Obito that really shouldn't be underestimated, I wonder how it would've played out with Kakashi under different circumstances. His resolve and beliefs were already swaying during that mission thanks to Obito- if they succeeded, perhaps Kakashi grew up learning to love that way. Perhaps that would've been Rin. (Or maybe not.)

SakuHina.. just put them together and let them be miserable together? I see many benefits from this tbh. Two of the most selfish characters to have ever existed if not the most selfish characters ever- lump them together, never bother anyone else- problem solved.

SaiIno.. I don't really have a problem with this ship but.. Sai is really gay. I'm sorry but what is he doing with Ino? He found her ugly and they're pretty much together for the sake of.. well kids/next gen stuff. For Ino I think it's fine, Sai sorta looks like Sasuke so it makes sense for her.. but Sai being in love with Ino, canonically? Weird. I know, SaiIno shippers will fight me on it, that's fine, you people have great art though, I'm not complaining.

Jiraiya/Tsunade.. I haven't really seen them being shipped together other than places like IG and Reddit. And some of them were really protective of them- Jiraiya would've always put his WoF above Tsunade which she accepted... why is this a good ship? I don't have much to say for this other than my surprise of their popularity..

Choji and Karui.. apparently their relationship was "explained" in filler novels. Choji simply said he was "interested in her". So they married and made a baby for 'Boruto'. Although 'Boruto-canon', this shit makes no sense.

ShikaIno, look I shipped them. I mean, I used to when I first watched the show because I liked their team-work and I thought Ino's very extra behavior balanced well with Shikamaru's more calm nature. I mean, if anything, he had misogynistic thoughts which he sometimes voiced out loud.. so perhaps a bit ignorant at the time, but I thought Ino was the one helping him with that development partly because of her appearance (since well.. the genre..) instead of Temari, but alas. And I think this is better anyway.

KankuSaku.. LISTEN! Hear me out~ Ship makes no sense at all. BUT. She came all the way from Konoha, saved his life just in time, playing doctor in a way where she didn't need to be all worshipped as a Mary Sue in some weird- godforsaken jail (ESAKA TAKE NOTES), but actually was useful because she learned, developed and took action- then bonded with Chiyo which Kankuro also somewhat has a relationship with- whom he then takes care of the puppets for after she dies.. there are connections and things that can be used to have them bond over. MISSED OPPORTUNITY OKAY- that's all I'm sayin'.

Most of you know how I feel about Sakura, but one of the scenes where I think she DID very much shine (as most of her fans think she so much deserves for some reason)- is when she tried her best to befriend Sai who actually was pretty rude at the beginning. It was Sakura who asked him what he was drawing when she went out to find him and what it meant to him. It was Sakura who tried to figure out more about him to see if she could help him (and their case) somehow- which surprised me pleasantly!! She for once didn't do this for selfish reasons. Now, both Sakura and Sai don't really grasp situations well especially when it comes to Naruto and Sasuke, but they sorta bonded over it a little. Sai while genuinely wanting to understand and Sakura while genuinely wanting to deny. It's not a ship, nor a really good ship- Because Sai.. and Sakura.. but I still wanted to point it out.

Lucifer:

While Lucifer is certainly busy all the time, and tries to balance it by having you in his study as he works, he can’t hide how tired he has actually been for the past 4 weeks.

All you know is that Diavolo has made the meetings more frequent and they are taking a toll on him

And since he means that much to you, regardless of if you wish to acknowledge it or not, you have to ask what is going on once he stands up and walks over to reach for another bottle from his shelf Lucifer does not drink that often and he certainly doesn’t try to avoid work by drinking.

Just what could be making him act this way?

“Lucifer, you have to tell me what is going on.”

He stands on his side of the desk just pouring another glass down.

Curse him for being elegant and showing his forearms while doing so!

And then he dares to look at you with full focus and furrowed eyebrows and he is about to say something and he looks like-

‘no. You are human.’

Fuck.

“Come on! You know I won’t tell anyone!”

He does trust you at least after so long.

"Very well. I will tell you since it has something to do with a human. If, by any chance, you spread the information, the price you pay will be a heavy one."

He can’t intimidate you that much but you know when he is serious.

"You see, recently, Diavolo has had more issues than ever with someone we like to call ‘code soul stealer"

“Uhn,, and that is?”

He takes a sip of his drink and holds the glass while looking at you.

“Apparently, a pesky human added ‘I now own your soul’ in their terms and conditions on a web page and some application. With this, they have stolen many souls and Diavolo has grown even more concerned these past few weeks since the page is just gaining popularity.”

Oh fuck, oh fuck. Thats you that he is calling a pesky human! You only did it as a joke because you saw a meme! It wasn’t supposed to make an enemy out of you to the prince of hell!

How are you supposed to tell Lucifer that? How will he react?

Maybe if you do tell him it will actually create more good than harm?

Or, you could hide it for the rest of your life and- no! The honest way with Lucifer is the best way. He trusts you enough so you have to trust him too!

“Lucifer...I am the pesky human you are referring to...”

He drops the glass. 

“I swear I had no idea souls were actually real and now I own a lot of them! O-On the good side I went viral 4 weeks ago so...oh, that is why you’ve been so busy....sorry.”

Lucifer says nothing.

He just falls into the chair in the most dramatic way you’ve ever seen.

He covers his face with both hands and groans into them loudly.

If you were not ‘code soul stealer’ you would laugh at him right now. But he has to figure out a way to protect you now.

Mammon:

You see, dating Mammon means that you two will bicker plenty.

However, it is usually silly stuff that you bicker about like; are gold or silver lines better on this cup of tea or not?

He just loves you too much to get into a serious argument with you.

However, Levi dragged you both to play a spy/heist game that just came out and Mammon cannot accept to lose such a challenge.

He is not proud that people call him thief, but he is proud and believes he has the skills to back up his many enrichment-plans

So the fact that you won against him for 3 times in a row is UNNACCEPTABLE under this dark, dark sky.

Mammon denies it all. ‘i went easy on you’; ‘I did it cuz you are happy when you win’ and ‘please, don’t you know who I am? I am THE Mammon!”

And while he is cute while bickering, sometimes it becomes unbearable.

So, you do what any normal human would: you challenge him by listing your biggest ‘heist’ ever.

“You don’t know who you are talking to! I have created a heist unlike any other! I have stolen a million souls so far! The DevilTV refers to me as – unstoppable soul collector!”

Levi left long ago so Mammon is standing there completely stunned with the stupidest look on his face so far. He kind of looks like a blowfish.

Still, he runs and puts a hand over your mouth and whispers:

“Don’t yell! We don’t want others to know that we run that business!”

Excuse him? Who is this –we- he speaks of?

“You will add your boyfriend to those plans, won’t you?”

Mammon will not let shock stand in the way of money or souls. You can explain to him how you managed that later but for now – just add him as your accomplice.

Satan:

You love your boyfriend.

You really, really do.

You love seeing him so excited and focused on finding clues to the newest Devildom mystery that you chose to let him have his fun by not telling him YOU were the one he was searching for.

And while you love him that much, you are about to ruin the whole game.

Why does he think it is appropriate to own 48 pairs of the same Sherlock Holmes outfit with THE UGLIEST MATCHING HATS YOU HAVE EVER LAID YOUR EYES ON.

First, he wore them in his ‘detective office’ only. Also known as the Lamentation house storage room for cleaning products. And that was fine, it was.

But then he started to wear them inside the house and in the garden. The saddest day was when a cat knocked the ugly hat off and ran away with it. Oh praise that cat! Praise the little paws!

However, he has gone too far.

He knows no bounds and shows no signs of stopping.

He started wearing the outfits OUTSIDE! In the middle of cobblestone paths of the main street while you were trying to have a nice date!

"Who knows where the soul snatching culprit could be hiding? I must wear this outfit everywhere to catch their clues. Trust me.”

That is it.

If one more iguana-looking-ass demon points their finger at you two and snickers as you walk past – he will have a rude wake up call.

How is it possible that he is trying to catch the culprit that is you but doesn’t pay any attention to you?

So, when you arrive home and he walks into the mop closet to add another unrelated photo to his crazy whiteboard as a clue – you tell him to sit down for a moment.

“Satan, honey, I have something to tell you about your soul snatching culprit.”

That definitely got his attention.

Finally! He is actually looking at you!

You lean down and gently kiss his head.

“I am the culprit you’re looking for. How does it feel to completely miss something right under your nose?”

He freezes up and throws a pen towards the whiteboard. It just bounces off and hits him in the back.

“You....you mean to tell me that,,, the biggest Devil Mystery TV phenomenon is ACTUALLY YOU?”

You are met with complete disbelief. Satan demands a detailed explanation on how you did it. He even tells you to use his whiteboard to retrace your steps!

Belphegor:

Will Belphegor ever actually publicly say that he has changed because of you? No.

Will he ever actually admit that to other brothers besides Beel when they’re talking in the late hours of the night in their room? Oh, absolutely not.

Will he tell you? Yes.

Yes but.. He will leave something out.

Sometimes Belphie looks at how you smile and remembers things that make him famous in this realm.

Yes, he is one of the most powerful demons and yes, he has a reputation of rebellion and the biggest steak of unattendance in RAD but

He is also a fairly famous scholar.

His papers and research are cited on the regular.

But when you smile and say a witty joke – he remembers that most of them focus around him proving just how dumb or naïve humans actually are.

But, you’re human and he hopes that you never see those.

Except that you do.

Because he is so famous it is no surprise that while looking for research papers to reference for your next assignment you saw his name while browsing through

And while you love him - you will not allow him to just diss the whole mankind.

So, you grab one of them from the library. Walk home, go to the attic while he is napping and open it up, putting it right on his face.

It takes a couple of seconds but he feels something is wrong and his hand reaches for it.

When he pulls it away, he is met with his thesis that was further developed from the seduction speech class assignment.

It sets it up as: ‘Seduction speech as a matter of blatant deception that humans always fall for but could never recreate.’

You are not even that mad at it to be honest.

But proving him wrong is always fun. And little does he know about your biggest secret ever.

“I will cut right to the chase and say – fix your bangs I want to see the way your eyes look when I tell you this!”

“I wonder who messed up my bangs with the academic paper in the first place?” is what he replies but his hand is already on his forehead.

“Whatever. Prepare to be amazed! I am the one the elders of the devildom are always ranting about on TV! Yes, I am the ‘pesky little human’ who is stealing away ‘edible’ souls! How is that for your thesis now? Is that not true deception?!”

He likes your smile still. You’re standing in front of the bed looking at him with sparkling eyes and clenched fists while striking a pose. It is silly really but he smiles.

Because you are.

And while he will ask you a bit more about that claim, he is just happy to know that maybe his next academic paper (which everyone eagerly awaits) will be tad more positive to your kind.

Diavolo:

You got an urgent call from Barbatos.

On the doorstep he told you that Diavolo needs you in his study.

What could you do that Barbatos can’t and will help Diavolo? Does such a thing even exist?

You walk inside of his office and are pretty sure Barbatos did not want to go inside because of the fact that a rat could be hiding under the mountain of papers that are all around the room.

Usually, Diavolo immediately stands up, lights up the room with his smile and stretches out his hands for a hug.

Now? He hears the doors open and looks at you with a weak smile while his head is resting on his elbows from behind the desk.

He has never looked worse.

“Barbatos said you called for me?”

You are unsure where to begin with this so you state a fact while thinking of questions to ask.

“He has? I have done no such thing?”

Great. Now both of you are confused.

“Can you tell me what is going on?”

Diavolo sighs and his smile is still nowhere to be seen.

“The elders have been so annoying lately. I understand that the biggest threat to the Devildom and everyone’s life here still has not been identified but there is nothing I can do except search!”

Just what threat is that? What could be making Diavolo so miserable?

“They keep comparing me to my father without actually offering any ways of fixing this!”

“I will try to offer some way if you tell me what the threat is!”

There you are, making a grand exclamation and promise while trying to avoid papers on the floor. Diavolo sighs again.

“A human is ruining our business! They somehow set up a page that allowed them to own souls by consent in some application under the terms and conditions. I mean, this has never happened before! Humans were never expected to think of that or have access to such means! And the name they used was fake. How am I supposed to find them and then burn them in the darkest pits of hell as the elders want me to?”

You stop trying to avoid the papers.

Did...did he just say darkest pits of hell? Did he just say the elders want YOU burned?!

How are you supposed to fix this? It was a fucking joke! You did not imagine this could ever happen!

“Diavolo you promised you would protect me no matter what, right?”

His eyes are serious when you say that. “Yes. I will. Is something amiss?”

“Diavolo.... I am the enemy your elders want to burn.. PLEASE DON’T LET THEM! MY SKIN JUST ADJUSTED TO THIS TEMPERATURE!”

Diavolo looks at you and laughs like never before. It is cute, it is childlike. His laugh finally lights up the room.

He thinks you are joking.

He thinks you are joking and abruptly stops once he realizes that you did not join in on the laugh.

You were just trying to crack a joke and make him feel better, right? There is no way that is true, right? But judging from your reaction he knows it is.

So, he grows serious once more.

He runs to embrace you.

“Please tell me you are willing to make a compromise because the elders do not care about how your skin adjusts to the temperature.”

A - Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?) 

He’s never affectionate publicly. Behind closed doors, though- well maybe he’s not your stereotypical lovey-dovey type, but hey-ho, he shows it in his own little way. A few hugs, but mostly through making you things. Music boxes, little figures and robots that wind up, you name it, he’ll try and make it. 

B - Best Friend (What would they be like as a best friend? Where does the friendship start?)

He’s not a friendly man, typically. He’s cold, and driven only by his motives. It takes a long time for him to warm up to you, but when he eventually does he is always by your side, whenever you should need him. Be it for violence, or for an ear to pour your thoughts into- even though half the time you swear he’s not listening completely. 

C - Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Heisenberg likes warm cuddles above all others. The kind where he can pull you close and hold you there for a while- he likes feeling you against his chest. It’s comforting to him, after years of no affection and a torturous living experience. 

D - Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking, cleaning, ect?)

Karl is not particularly skilled in any domestic skill. He’s very mediocre at cooking, and he can’t clean to save his life- his factory is littered with dust and other probably very harmful particles. He isn’t very good in a domestic environment at all, really. 

E - Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Blunter than a broken pencil I’m afraid. He’s never had to hide something from you in the past, so why should this be any different? He would not want to beat around the bush here, he’d annoy himself with pleasantries and euphemisms. 

F - Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? Do they wanna get married?)

He’s perfectly fine staying as partners, without marriage looming over the pair of you. Quite frankly, he doesn’t think it’s worth it.  “A piece of damn paper to show someone your fucking devotion? Bullshit.” 

G - Gentle (How gentle are they both physically and emotionally?)

Unless you’re shaking like a leaf or have specifically asked him to be gentle with or around you, he’s not going to be. He’ll treat you much how he treats most others- with a little bit of affection for zest and flavour every now and then. 

H - Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it, and what are they like?)

While he likes cuddles, he isn’t a huge fan of hugs. He thinks they’re too short to show any real affection, and often get in the way of whatever task the recipient is trying to perform.  

I - I Love You (How fast do they say the “love” word?)

S l o w l y. This man has gone through some stuff, and doesn’t want to get attached to people despite falling for you. Give him a chance. 

J - Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What are they like when jealous?)

Okay so he may be “non-committal” in a loose sense of the term, but this man is one jealous motherfucker. And he gets angry. I’m talking  punching the wall, lashing out and breaking shit kind of angry. It’s mostly because of a nagging fear that not only will he lose you to someone you think is better or less monstrous than he is, but also in part due to a feeling that because of what he was forced to become, he isn’t good enough to keep you for himself. 

K - Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

He kisses you on your hands or neck mostly. Those are his favourite places to kiss you. He occasionally kisses you on the inside of your wrist. If you have any scars as well, he’ll kiss them. 

L - Little Ones (How are they around kids?)

It depends. Sometimes he’s the perfect uncle figure, others he’s a whirlwind of rage. If you’re taking him to see some children for a prolonged amount of time, please check how he’s acting and feeling on the day so there isn’t some sort of horrific accident. 

M - Morning (What are mornings like with them?)

There’s nothing special about them, he’s usually up long before you are. He doesn’t leave anything like a hot beverage behind, unless it’s a special occasion that he’s remembered- like a birthday or anniversary. 

N - Nights (How are nights spent with them?)

He often tells you to go to bed before him, as he’s usually working on something, and would rather not have to worry about you being down in his factory and workshop. 

O - Open (When do they open up about themselves?)

When he’s extremely angry. He gets riled up, then will start to spill facts and secrets while hardly even realising it. 

P - Patience (How easily angered are they?)

He has a very short fuse and a violent temper, to say the least. There’s a reason the man swears so much. Though he will often apologise if he’s scared you after an outburst. 

Q - Quizzes (How much do they remember about you?)

He remembers the basic things at the very least- Your name, your habits on eating and drinking, what you do to amuse yourself. He’s quite observant, actually. 

R - Remember (Favorite memory with you?)

He made you a small music box once. The past part of his day, or his entire week, was seeing your smile as you opened it and listened to it for the first time. It was the widest he’d ever seen you smile, and he loved the feeling it gave him. 

S - Security (How protective are they?)

Very. One particular other Lord- “Lady Super-Sized Bitch,” as Heisenberg has dubbed her- is very interested in your presence, and Heisenberg has made it very much his business to keep you practically under lock and key to keep you safe. And when Ethan Winters comes around? Ooh, boy. You ain’t leaving his sight. 

T - Try (How much effort do they put in?)

He does try- through making trinkets and gadgets to both help you and show his affection. Sometimes it may not always seem that way though, with his outbursts and his tantrums. 

U - Ugly (What are their bad habits?)

He smokes. You tried to get him to quit once, then stopped when you realised it made him more irritable. 

V - Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

He’s not that concerned. If he’s still kicking... Well that’s all that matters to him. 

W - Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

He’d feel that something’s wrong, something’s not right- a cog missing from a machine, in a sense. And he hates that feeling. 

X - Xtra (Random HC)

This man would die for some ice-cream. You bring him a tub of the stuff- BAM, instant good mood for the next like two days. 

Y - Yuck (Things they don’t like either in general or a partner?)

This man is not fussy, in the slightest. 

Z - Zzz (Sleep habits)

He basically doesn’t, he gets so little it’s a wonder he can actually function normally.
