Rating: 18+! mdni
Me waking up at 5am with the most depraved thoughts about Jean, Connie and Sasha in a college AU that I will be turning into a full fic, here’s the rundown
Starts with Jean/Sasha with a dash of Jean/Connie/Sasha, and then ends with just Connie/Sasha, they’re endgame sorry not sorry (I love Springles) (it’s just because my friends tell me I’m just like Sasha and I am a fiend for Constance Springer)
First of all, you already know that they were all friends in high school, none of that awkward first meeting in History 101 thing
They can’t even remember how they met but Connie and Jean were those middle school bros with the snapbacks and jailbroken phones
Jean was asked to show Sasha around when she moved from the countryside in their freshman year of high school
Okay so now in college basically they all have the plan to just get laid as much as possible
Jk but they just want to party and be part of the crazy college scheme that they used to spend HOURS talking about in high school
“Guys… would you ever smoke weed?” —Jean at one point
Sorry this is still background but like I always imagine them growing up Midwest? I wanna say Chicago but deep down I’m thinking they grew up in like St Paul and they were all fairly sheltered oop
They go to college in Chicago for the big city life and they all apply together and they cry when they all get accepted
So yeah they’re trying to be adults now they rule!!!1!!! It’s so cheesy but they are 18 and suddenly they are like wow this adult thing is pretty nice 😎
Connie is kind of the rizzler?? No shock there but he is actually bringing so many women back to his and Jean’s dorm
The forms I had in college would be two bedrooms (with two beds each) and then a shared bathroom/fridge space?? So Connie and Jean are roommates and Marco is their suite mate in the other bedroom
Jean ends up having to stay with their suite-mate Marco because Marco’s roommate ended up dropping out after a day
Connie inadvertently cock blocks his friends but other while they’d pull as well??
Sorry Jean plays the sweet-romance game because he thinks he’s going to fall in love at a college party the first week 💀 and Connie swoops in making these ladies die laughing
He’s also just super affectionate with Sasha too like she’ll be rizzing up some guy and he’ll swing an arm around her waist “Sash we gotta host parties when we get our house together!!!”
He just means next year, the three of them plan on getting a townhouse together, but it’s enough to scare away the guy Sasha was talking to :(
At one point they have a mini intervention where they’re like “bro how do you do it????” And Connie’s like “what can I say, a rizzler’s gotta rizz 😎🥵”
I don’t think there would be much sexual interest or jealousy between any of them because they’re besties
Maybe in high school they had that drama about liking each other but they’re 18 now?? High school was so last year they are ADULTS remember
But idk maybe Sasha makes a comment about Connie cockblocking her, just an innocent joke, and he lowkey gets offended? “Damn my bad, I’ll let you cook next time ig”
So at the next party, Sasha meets Niccolo and of course they hit it off and Connie’s like okay why is this bothering me who gives a fuck, he ends up bringing a girl back to his dorm anyway so who cares LOL not that guy
Oh I forgot to say this but when Jean brings someone home Connie goes to Sasha’s and they literally share her tiny ass twin bed, usually drunk and watching some movie on her laptop, Ymir is normally in Historia’s room anyway so it works (but Ymir and Connie are homies too so she dgaf)
Anyway after her and Niccolo hook up, Sasha is super bummed?? The three of them are hanging out on campus and she’s like “yeah idk I thought we had something but our conversations just kind of fizzled out :(“
And Connie laughs? He’s like “lmao wait you talk to these people after you hook up with them??”
He explains that the whole point is that you go into it not expecting to ever see them again, that’s how he can be so bold with his flirting/jokes. It’s a HOOK UP not a MARRIAGE
And Jean kind of defends Sasha because he is also a big romantic and is constantly getting his hopes up? Poor guy
So one thing leads to another and (completely sober) Jean and Sasha decide they’re going to hook up???
It’s so awkward when they talk about it lol. Sasha’s like “man wtf how does Connie just not develop feeling for the girls he’s sleeping with” and Jean’s like “right that’s insane we should like, hook up and see” (totally joking) and Sasha’s like “omg yeah good one”
For half of their conversation, Jean can’t tell if she’s just going along with the joke
But it does make sense to them?? Like they will go to the party with Connie who will inevitably bring someone back to their dorm, and Jean and Sasha can pretend like they’ve just met and that they’re hooking up, then in the morning they go back to being friends
Unrelated but they’ve all definitely talked about their kinks before and Sasha hits Jean with the “S-step bro” and he whimpers
Also unrelated but Connie thought that the “Step bro, I’m stuck” things were the funniest shit in the world but that’s when they discovered Jean is bisexual, Jean included lol
Anyway the sex is good?? They are already so comfortable with each other, Jean makes sure Sasha is comfortable and that things feel good, she lowkey helps him with how to eat a girl out properly lol
Also Sasha has insane bedroom eyes and she doesn’t even know it? Her sex faces are unreal. Jean’s fucking her missionary style and he’s like “—this good?” And she lets out a breathy “Yeah, fuck, like that—” and he is like “bro don’t look at me like that or I’ll cum”
Afterwards Jean asks if they can cuddle and she’s like “wtf no? We’re supposed to not make thing a thing, we’re just friends again” and Jean is like “but we’d cuddle when we’re friends. We literally cuddled last week” and she’s like “damn you’re right okay c’mere”
The next morning Sasha’s like “omg! We did that! And I don’t want to do it again” and Jean’s like “wait WHAT” like he’s worried she had a bad experience and she’s like “No no no like I WOULD do it again but I don’t want to like date you!!” And he’s like “oh, good!!! Me too!!” And they high five
Jean goes to his dorm and Connie’s not there but Marco is and he’s like “Marco, I slept with Sasha and we don’t want to do it again 😎” and he’s like “what the fuck?”
Jean and Marco are also on the extremely slowburn train to romance-ville but until then they’re just homies, each other’s confidants
Marco tells Jean “I don’t know how you could hook up with anyone at all? Don’t you want the intimacy and love that comes with being with one person?” Because Marco doesn’t join in on their schemes, he also came from a sheltered childhood but he’s just so honest and sweet and we love our sweet boy
Of course Jean wants that too! He’s just a dumb idiot who thinks with his dick too much(‘: but someday he will learn and Marco will be there for him
Anyway idk about anyone else’s college experience but we had like four different card game variants of like “drink if you have the most unopened emails” or “drink if you are the last person to put your finger on your nose”
So of course they play that one time in Sasha’s room with their friends
“Drink if you’ve slept with someone else in this room” and everyone’s laughing, of course Eren and Mikasa drink, and Ymir and Historia drink, but then Jean takes a sip and it’s like SILENT
And Connie’s like “HEADASS get outta here, your fantasies don’t count” and Jean is looking at Sasha like bro help me
So then she takes a drink
And everyone is like hooting and hollering, but now Connie is silent
Jean’s laughing and telling them “yeah it was just a one time thing lol we’re just friends”
He’s lowkey hurt that they didn’t tell him?? He thinks it happened in like high school or something
They notice he’s upset and they end up confronting him after he avoids them bc we know Connie can’t deal with his emotions xoxo
“I just can’t believe you guys had sex without me??” He means without TELLING me but he’s upset yk. And Sasha’s like “well fine do you want to have sex with us?”
And it’s silent for like four minutes. Also they’re eating lunch in like Burger King so Jean’s mouth is full of a whopper burger as Sasha says this and he just freezes, and then slowly continues to eat
I feel like Connie is straight/has a strong preference towards women, but the idea of fucking a woman with another guy he’s totally down for yk, he’s definitely comfortable with himself and open to experimenting but something about Jean fucking THEIR friend Sasha fires him up??
He’s still the most experienced out of the three of them, never in a threesome but has watched enough of them lol, he even did extra research to prepare omg
He strokes himself off underneath Sasha, who’s being fucked by Jean
And Connie’s an ass? Talking to them like a little shit. “So this is how you did it without me last time, huh? I missed out on all this fun?”
I’ll save the big details for the fic so you have to read it sorry xoxo, but let’s say Jean ends up fucking Sasha’s mouth while Connie switches and begins fucking her? Like your classic Eiffel Tower shit
They definitely high five while fucking Sasha lol but she’s also loving it we know she’s a freak
I bet Connie would feel this weird possession about fucking Sasha? Like he sees how wet she got from cumming with Jean’s cock inside her and he’s like well we gotta out do this, I gotta show her how good I’m gonna make her feel
No warning just immediately rams himself into her, her gasp barely audible around Jean’s cock
And this is when he starts to like “hm I could get used to this”, just an idle thought he brushes off as he slaps her ass, grabbing the fat of it afterwards to thrust deeper into her
I bet they talked about it before, but Connie definitely is all “You gonna let me cum inside you, huh, Sash? Gonna be a good girl and let me fill you up?”
Jean’s already came in her mouth and he’s holding her, petting her hair and playing with her tits as she cries out, nodding and turning back to look at him
I bet Sasha’s fucked out expression is what sends him over the edge
They end up all passed out next to each other with Sasha in the middle, they’re too sweaty and gross to be comfortable but they promise to help wash the sheets and clean up/get breakfast in the morning
But somehow Connie and Sasha both wake up in the middle of the night (she elbows him accidentally), and before they go back to sleep he’s just kind of like, wait wait
And he slips a hand in her underwear just to feel the mess of his cum leaking into her underwear
Omg he’d slip a finger inside her, trying to push it into her again (fuck I love Connie too much someone needs to put me in horny jail)
She’d just kind of whine quietly, half asleep but wrapping her arm around him and shuffling closer, carefully spreading her legs further
He’d finger her for a little bit but her whines and noises start to get too loud, they’re too lazy to move to the bathroom or something so they put a pin in it
Connie does tilt Sasha’s jaw towards him and kisses her though? It’s like the first time he’s ever kissed a girl after sex so it’s kind of startling to him, it just seems too romantic and he can’t possibly feeling this towards his best pal Sasha??
But Sasha’s kissed guys after sex so she’s like whatever lol gnight dude
Things are fine between the three of them because Connie just compartmentalizes his emotions and Jean and Sasha have already fucked
But now when they talk about going to parties, Connie doesn’t really want to hook up with random girls anymore? And he gets pissy when Sasha mentions bringing a guy back to her place
But also Sasha picks up on that and she doesn’t even seem to care about the guys she’s hooking up with?? Jean can see it SO CLEARLY she’s using these other guys to distract herself from Connie
One day Jean shows up at Sasha’s door and is like “so when did you start liking Connie?”
Ends with Sasha crying to Jean about how she doesn’t know? He had a thing for her in their sophomore year of high school? They were each others first kisses? She even had a thing for him once in their senior year, but this is DIFFERENT she knows it’s going to ruin their friendship
Literally Ymir and Historia are there because they were just giving her shit for this too but now they’re comforting her
Jean just had the EXACT SAME conversation with Connie, even with the same tears, and Eren and Mikasa there to comfort him LMAO
But Jean doesn’t say anything about that, he just says she should talk to him about it (just like he told Connie to do) and she’s like lol NO
A couple days later though Connie says the most OUTTA pocket thing?? Something about a girlfriend??
In my mind it’s always Mina just because but idk we’ll see
Connie in an attempt to evade the confrontation of talking to Sasha about his feelings has decided that burying them deep inside himself is the way to go
And Sasha literally texts Jean and is like SEE?!???? He doesn’t like me it’s fine this is fine 🥲
And Jean is like THESE TWO DUMBASSES WILL BE THE DEATH OF ME
Cue him and Marco having to play matchmaker, maybe even fall in love themselves while they’re at it 😗
Idk how it’s gonna end ngl but if you stuck around this long you should tell me your thoughts via reply or ask

Just Between Us | Part 3 | #ShawnMendesWritingCircle
Tumblr media
Part One by @lights-on-mendes
Part Two by @shessoparticular
A/N: I had so much fun writing this, it was aboloutley sick! I would have gone on for ages if i didn’t control myself haha. I do wish it could’ve been a bit longer though but I hope you guys love it.
After Shawn hung up the phone he immediately turned to you with a worried expression on his face. You mirrored his expression and Shawn instantly said “it’s okay, I don’t have to go. You know what, I won’t go...yeah. It’s not like I owe him anything.”
You could tell that Shawn wanted to help his friend out, so you encouraged him. “You should go. Come on, Ben is our friend and he really needs that promotion. Besides, it’s only one date. At the end of the day you’ll be in my bed again not whoever’s daughter you’re going on a date with. Plus you can’t blame him, we have been telling everyone that we’re not together so he probably thought about you subconsciously.”
Shawn sighed and nodded his head. “Alright, for Ben. At the end of this we’ll pretend that this never happened.”
You nodded and got into bed. You held your hands out for Shawn to enter and you cuddled in the bed. Shawn’s arms were wrapped tightly around you se if you were his lifeline, not wanting to let you go. Very soon only the sound of Shawn’s light snoring could be heard in the room. It became a catalyst which drifted you off to sleep.
In the morning when the two of you woke up, you reminded Shawn to give Ben a call as he promised he’d get back to him. Shawn picked up the phone but not before rolling his eyes as the phone rang.
Ben picked up on the first ring and without a good morning said “have you thought about it yet?”
Shawn again, rolled his eyes and sighed. “Yeah I’ve thought about it and I’ll go. For you though, I’m quite happy living the single life currently so I know I won’t like this date. It’s only the one right?”
“Yeah, Yeah of course. Thank you so much, you don’t know how much this means to me bro. I owe you one.” Ben spoke excitedly and then hung up.
For the millionth time that morning Shawn rolled his eyes, sighed and trudged his feet back into bed with you. He began getting comfortable and shutting his eyes just to get a few more minutes of sleep in when he opened his eyes just as fast as he closed them.
“Fuck!” Shawn rushes over to the nightstand where his phone laid and quickly picked it up to call Ben again, putting it on speaker this time.
Ben immediately picked up but this time Shawn could hear music in the background. “Why are you playing music this morning?”
“I’m celebrating man, I just heard great news from your mouth earlier so now I’m partying with a few roommates.”
Shawn sighed and rubbed his hand over his face. “Oh my goodness...anyway, I called again to ask when the damn date was.”
There was silence until Ben spoke “tonight.”
“Tonight?! What if I had said no? What would you have told your little flat mates then huh?”
“Yeah...I didn’t really think that through. I just assumed you’d say yes because we’re bros and we know each other.”
“Bro...we’re not bros like that.”
“Sure we are, you just called me bro right now. Alright bro, I’ll text you the address later bro. Be on time bro. You’ve never been on a date before so I think I’ll have to give my bro some tips.”
“Can you stop saying bro? I don’t need tips from you, I’m perfectly capable of knowing how a date goes.” Shawn glanced at you as you were snickering under the sheets. He immediately thought about your date the night before and how nothing could compare to spending time with you.
“Sorry bro. What’s got you in a bad mood this morning? You just told me you wanted to go.”
“Yeah. But for your sake, I don’t do blind dates. I don’t even know who this girl is.”
“Awww thanks bro. You’ll be fine, and even if you don’t like her, at least I got the promotion.”
Shawn laughed at that. “What did I tell you about bro?”
“Sorry bro.”
Shawn rolled his eyes before Ben hung up. He laid back down on the bed and turned to you. “I think Ben may have had too much to drink on that call.”
“Tell me about it. It’s like 8 am and he’s drinking? I don’t know how he’s gonna handle the actual job.” You both looked at each other and burst out laughing.
“I love you Y/N, you know that right?” Shawn said with a bright smile on his face.
“Yeah, I love you too baby.”
Ben texted Shawn the address of the place he was going to meet the girl and he was definitely dreading the entire evening. You helped him get ready and he wore casual clothes because a whole ass suit was not worth his time. Especially when he wasn’t going to enjoy it.
The specific time of the date was at 7pm so Shawn started getting ready to head off but not before giving you a kiss and whispering some particularly dirty things in your ear of what would happen once he got back. You bid Shawn goodbye as he set off on what was going to be the most horrible evenings of his life.
Shawn did indeed, as Ben told him, show up early. He quietly sat down at the cafe and waited for the so called Mr Beese’s daughter to show up. About 10 minutes later he saw a figure approach him.
“Shawn right?” She said and he nodded.
“Hi, I’m Lila. I’ve heard so much about you and I must say you are very very handsome.”
Shawn felt a little uncomfortable having another girl who wasn’t his secret girlfriend call him handsome. He knew he had to be nice so he replied back with “thank you, same to you.” His compliment game had plummeted since he started dating you because he didn’t need it so much anymore.
Lila looked nothing like you. She didn’t exactly give off a pleasant vibe at first. It was more of a ‘I want to take you home and fuck you right there and forget about this date vibe’. Shawn did not appreciate that at all but he had to start small talk with Lila.
As the time went on his attitude towards Lila changed he started to like her personality as he got to know her a little better (unwillingly) and he realised that he would love to have her as a friend. Her cocky vibe started to melt away and he started to see what she truly was.
He liked her. Don’t get me wrong, he still loved you with 1000% of his heart and saw Lila as nothing more than a friend. The way he approached the situation didn’t seem like it though.
It was clear Lila liked Shawn too but more than a friend and she definitely appeared like she wanted to date him and explore the relationship and maybe Shawn being exceptionally nice to her to cover the fact that he really wanted it to end and go home to you gave her mixed signals.
The next thing Shawn knew Lila leaned over the table and kissed Shawn. Shawn’s eyes widened and he froze. As soon as it occurred to him to pull away, the sudden click of a camera from the other end of the cafe went off.
Shawn pulled away and glanced at whoever took the picture. His cheeks became warm and started to go red in embarrassment. He knew he was fucked. He turned to Lila with sudden anger because he knew how bad this looked.
“What the hell was that for? Fuck! I didn’t wanna kiss you!”
“I thought you did. You were being really nice and I thought it was because you liked me.”
“Yeah I did but only as a friend! Nothing more. I- I’ve gotta go” Shawn quickly stood up and started speeding towards the door, leaving Lila confused as ever.
Shawn didn’t go home that night. He knew he should have but he spent hours wandering around trying to process what happened and how he was going to tell you about it. Surely the paparazzi couldn’t have spread that photo that quickly right?
Meanwhile, you were at home waiting for Shawn to come home. After whispering all those things in your ear earlier you’d think he’d try to rush home to make it happen. Hours turned into more hours which turned into more hours waiting for Shawn. Before you knew it you were asleep and Shawn’s presence was definitely not in the house.
You eventually woke up and opened your eyes expecting Shawn to be with you but to your dismay he wasn’t. You started to think the worst and maybe Shawn did like that girl more than you. What if they hooked up? No Shawn would never do that you thought.
To keep those thoughts out of your mind you decided to switch the TV on and occupy yourself with that until your man came back. You switched it to the celebrity news channel because that was where all the drama was happening and you definitely did need excitement at the moment.
What you didn’t expect to see was a picture of Shawn with who you assumed was Mr Beese’s daughter kissing on the screen. You gasped immediately as your eyes went wide but nothing could compare to the feeling you felt in your chest.
Your entire heart was shattered.

Private Time - Chapter Two
Klaine, M, 4k, A03. Summary:  One thing about being in quarantine with your grad school roommates... you hardly get any private time...
Wow, the reaction to this fic has blown me away.  Thank you so much to everyone who reblogged and commented.  It’s wonderful to feel the Klaine love.
And since you asked so nicely, here is chapter two!
Chapter 2
Kurt Hummel prides himself on being able to survive just about anything, from small town bigots to drama school divas.  But this quarantine thing is really getting to him.
It’s not that he has any problems with his roommates, far from it.  He’s known Rachel since high school, and his fondness for her more than balances his aggravation.  Sweet and goofy Sam became part of their trio of friends last year when Kurt had thought about starting a band, and Sam had shown up at the audition.  While the band didn’t take off, Kurt will never forget Sam’s rendition of “Nothing On But The Radio.”  Priceless.
But then there’s Blaine. Even thinking about the guy makes Kurt go weak in the knees.  It’s not like Kurt to be so affected by a pretty face, even one peeking out from under wet curls as he scoots down the hall after his evening shower with just a towel wrapped low around his hips.  Kurt prides himself on his restraint when it comes to opening up to the possibility of romance, but with Blaine, it has been a challenge.
It started with that damn a capella benefit Rachel dragged him to.  As if he needed to spend an evening watching preppy kids grinning at each other while they sang poorly re-arranged pop tunes.  “It’s for a good cause, Kurt,” Rachel had argued.  “And it’s not just the college groups. Everyone at the university can participate.  I would be performing, too, if I wasn’t saving my voice.”
And so an hour into a dreadfully dull evening of twenty-somethings trying to relive their high school musical glory days, Kurt had his first experience of nearly losing his mind over Blaine Anderson.  Amidst a sea of mediocrity, Blaine came on stage and performed Sondheim’s <i>Not While I’m Around</i> without accompaniment.  Kurt felt like he was coming apart.  He was so wrecked that he left the theater immediately after Blaine’s performance and spent the rest of the evening stalking around campus, furious with himself for losing his cool.
That night while his roommates were still out, Kurt indulged himself in a way he hadn’t done in ages. First a lavender scented bubble bath, then a long solo session in between fresh, clean sheets.  It was okay to fantasize about Blaine Anderson, he was just a guy on a stage, Kurt didn’t know him from Adam (and he was way, way hotter than Adam with or without his Apples).  Kurt found himself humming “nothing’s gonna harm you, no sir” halfway through and didn’t even censor himself, reveling in the thought that his fantasy Blaine would protect him from all the demons of the world.
After that, Kurt felt like he saw the guy everywhere – ducking out of the campus coffee shop, running in the early morning chill, giving Sam a warm hug before they parted ways after class.  Kurt had sort of known that Sam was bringing Blaine to see his performance of Macbeth, but had managed to block it out until afterwards, when Sam trotted backstage with Blaine on his heels.  Blaine’s shy smile and soft blush when he offered Kurt his congratulations had rendered him nearly speechless.
And then the unthinkable happened.  They had held off on finding a fourth person to share the rent for several months, mostly because Rachel thought that sharing their single decent shower with two guys was as much as she could stand, but money was tight for all of them and it seemed silly to let the room stay empty.  Before they had even had a chance to advertise the vacancy Sam came home one afternoon with Blaine, announced that he had found them a perfect flatmate, and started giving Blaine the tour.  Kurt had nearly choked on his skinny margarita.
There wasn’t much time to dwell on his crush before the quarantine, but now, Blaine is everywhere. Kurt tries to count how many different black polo shirts the man has, just to prove himself he could look but still retain a modicum of brain power, but he fails miserably.  Instead his eyes keep sliding down to where Blaine shirt’s is tucked around his slender waist, just before his red pants curve over the best ass Kurt has ever seen.
When Rachel announces her <i>private time</i> plan Kurt immediately knows what she is up to. If Sam and Blaine knew her better, they would have caught on faster as well – since when did Rachel Berry mind if anyone heard her sing?  It’s a lame cover-up, but before Kurt can open his mouth and say so, he realizes how useful Rachel’s plan could be.  So he stands up, smooths his hands down over his pants, and high-tails it upstairs to the privacy of his room before his pants get even tighter.
That first night, Kurt doesn’t have any intention of participating.  He’s feeling rather superior, if he is honest with himself. Suddenly randy Rachel and lack of self-control Sam may be taking care of business, but Kurt Hummel doesn’t need any of that.  He puts on his headphones, pulls out an old voice lesson journal, and goes through some exercises himself.  Rachel may have been joking about the need for private rehearsal time, but Kurt is nothing if not career focused, and he hasn’t had much of an opportunity for honing his craft lately either.
After he finishes the exercises in his journal, Kurt gets out his phone and some earbuds – he’s got some vocal tracks on his phone which split the parts, the lead coming through on one side and the harmony parts on the other. Just as he’s finding the track he wants to start on and fiddling with the left earbud, which for some unknowable reason keeps falling out of his ear, he hears a long, low moan.
Kurt freezes, earbud dangling from his hand.  It’s Blaine, that much is obvious from the direction of the sound, and from the fact that it seems to be coming from right next to him, where only a wall divides his room from Blaine’s.  Somehow that one drawn-out expression of need has shot right through him, sparking through his entire body.  Kurt feels light-headed and almost forgets to breathe.
Overwhelmed, Kurt panics. He scrambles to grab the noise-cancelling headphones and clamp them over his ears, and dives under his duvet.  It’s too much, and it’s inappropriate to think about, but at the same time it’s impossible not to imagine.  It’s Blaine, with his hand on his private parts, making that incredibly sexy noise just a few feet away from Kurt.  Kurt is never going to make it through this quarantine.
By the next morning Kurt has regained his equilibrium.  He spends most of the day firmly (but not <i>firmly,</i> Kurt thinks, bad word choice, sternly, yes, very sternly, god that’s hardly better, hardly, stop it, I’m dying, I’m being slain by my own internal monologue) telling himself that he is not going to participate any further in Rachel’s ridiculous plan.  Tomorrow, their next scheduled private time night, Kurt will simply go for a walk. Walking is good for him, he could use the exercise and fresh air, and he doesn’t do it nearly as much as he should. He’ll even wear the new mask he made from a Prada dust bag (there’s no need to abandon style, just because there’s a pandemic).
But on Thursday night when he tells Rachel he’s going out she cackles at him like she’s auditioning for the Wicked Witch of the West, and points with a shaking finger to the window. It’s raining, a veritable deluge. Kurt growls at her and goes upstairs.
Fine.  It’s all fine.  He can do this.  It’s nothing to feel shameful about, even if everyone in the house knows he’s doing it. They’re all doing it too.
Kurt lights a candle (sandalwood), finds some of the expensive body lotion he saves for special occasions, and makes himself comfortable.  Soon his thoughts are wandering to how a certain someone looked this morning, sitting out on the back porch with Sam.  They had both been fooling around on their guitars, and Sam was teasing Blaine about how his hair kept falling into his eyes.  Sam had even reached out and pushed an errant, gel-free curl away from Blaine’s face…
That should have been Kurt. He would have waited until Blaine finished playing a gentle love song (“the things you do endear me to you, ah you know I will… I will”) and looked up expectantly at him, a hesitant smile on his face.  Kurt would have leaned close to Blaine, seeing his long lashes flutter as he softly pressed his palm to Blaine’s smooth cheek.  Kurt would have threaded his fingers through Blaine’s dark hair, and they would have laughed together, barely audible to anyone else, and then Kurt would have pulled Blaine in for a breathtaking, awe-inspiring first kiss.
Kurt climaxes with an unexpected grunt, and then presses his face into his pillow.  That was embarrassingly fast, even for a fantasy.  He’s going to have to do better.  At least he needs to get to the part where he can grab Blaine’s ass in his hands and give it a good squeeze.  Who knows what kind of noises Blaine might make when his ass is fondled just right.  Kurt might even have to think about sliding those tight red pants down over Blaine’s luscious curves, moving his hands up and down and around, letting his fingers explore and press in…
Kurt realizes he’s getting hard again, and much to his dismay, he soon goes for round two like a horny teenager.
It rains all day on Friday, and Saturday morning is equally gloomy, ruining their plans to make lunch and take it to campus for an appropriately socially distant picnic. Sam comes up with an alternate plan that involves bartering for a packet of yeast (the sister of one of his rugby mates thought ahead and purchased large quantities from a restaurant supply store) and making homemade bread, and Blaine sunnily agrees to bike to the other side of town to pick it up.  Kurt volunteers some of his masks to use as a trade, and by noon, they are all assembled in the kitchen, ready to start their day’s project.
Kurt has made bread a million times (okay, maybe just two or three), so they all look to him for guidance. It turns out to be way more fun than Kurt had expected, even more so when he keeps catching Blaine looking at him shyly from under those ridiculously long lashes.  When they all start giggling at the mess they’ve made and Blaine reaches out and tries to wipe flour off of Kurt’s nose, Kurt thinks he’s never been happier.
That night they eat their bread with the remains of various cheeses and drink more wine than Kurt had thought they had left in the house.  He’s feeling loose and safe in his skin when Blaine flops down on the couch next to him, holding out a bowl of strawberries.  “These go great with the bread,” Blaine says, which is what they’ve been saying about everything they have eaten that night.
Kurt doesn’t argue and pops a strawberry in his mouth.  “Yeah, they do.”
Blaine focuses his big brown eyes on Kurt, and then leans in and draws his finger just along the edge of Kurt’s mouth, making him shiver.
“Powdered sugar,” Blaine explains, and then shuffles even closer to Kurt on the couch.  It’s like he’d done earlier today, but this time his voice comes out in a caramel draped baritone.  “You’ve got a little here, too.”  Blaine touches a fingertip to Kurt’s cheek, and then then blushes furiously and lets his hand drop.
Kurt can’t resist, Blaine is simply too enticing.  Blaine’s done all the hard work anyway, his blush speaking as eloquently as any Shakespeare sonnet.  “I think you’ve still got flour in your hair,” Kurt says, reaching out and twining a curl around his finger.  It’s just as soft as he imagined, and Blaine lets out a little sigh in response and leans his head into the touch.
Kurt takes a deep breath, his whole body trembling.  Blaine’s eyes rise to meet his, and Kurt cups Blaine’s cheek and pulls Blaine in for a kiss.
It’s better than his fantasy, of course it is.  Blaine tastes of strawberries and wine, his stubble scrapes ever so gently against Kurt’s skin, and he’s warm and alive under Kurt’s hand.  They move closer on the couch, knees and thighs and shoulders pressing against each other.  Blaine’s tongue darts out to trace Kurt’s lips, and then Kurt opens his mouth and the kiss deepens, harder and gentler in turns, until Kurt forgets that anything else exists in the world except for this.
When they finally part, breathless and wide eyed, Rachel and Sam have disappeared.  Kurt glances at the clock on the wall and sees that it’s after eleven.  Blaine’s glance follows his, and then he beams at Kurt, a mischievous look dancing in his eyes.
“It’s private time,” Blaine says, and Kurt blinks at him, momentarily confused.  The earnest expression on Blaine’s face sure doesn’t look like he’s interesting in putting an end to their not-so-solo activities, and either does the hand he’s holding out to Kurt.

Kiss and Make it Better by annehiggins E | 9k
Both the forces of Heaven and Hell are after Dean and Castiel, but sometimes a kiss really does make it all better.
Sweet little loving and bonding fic.
Retreat into Silence by annehiggins E | 16k | Fluff,  Angst,  Alt!Canon
Written for this prompt by deceptivechasm on the no longer exists LJ simon_says_dean: “Something very traumatic happens to Dean while he's with Sam (or Sam was away) which causes him to stop talking, *again*. Sam didn't know about the first time, and has to ask Bobby (or John) about what happened after his mum died.”
Sweet, adorable, and really schmoopy with added angst.
I Know What You Like by JinxedAmbitions E | 4k | Pornstar AU, Bottom!Cas
Castiel agrees to help Gabriel out by being a production assistant at his porn company. However, when porn star Dean Winchester comes onto him on set, who is Cas to say no, especially when Dean seems to know all the things that turn Cas on most?
Hnnnghgggg.
Consort by Valyria E | 139k [WIP] | Angst,  Medieval AU, bottom!dean
When King John of the West Saxons forms an alliance with a neighboring Christian kingdom, his eldest son Dean ends up playing a role he never expected.
Valyria's fabulous (currently WIP) Medieval AU is a must-read. Definitely a slow burn fic--includes very bad/painful sex, but with a great payoff.
What Was Lost Still Leaves Its Mark by shieldmaiden_of_celestial_intent E | 4k | Hot, Alt!Canon, Sub!Cas, Demon!Dean, Dom!Dean, Praise Kink
Demon Dean captures Castiel and tries to force him to play out a few of his fantasies. Cas soon finds himself willing because Dean still retains some of the good qualities of his human life. It starts out with dubious consent but consent is given later. There is a confrontation where Dean makes Cas strip. If you love Dean's panty kink this figures prominently. This is from Cas' POV and gets romantic and hopeful toward the end. This is canon compliant up to the season 9 finale. Castiel is powered down and has human drives like sex and sleep. Dean dominates him but does not hurt him.
I'm not usually a huge fan of subby!cas because it usually feels ooc to me, but this is. I'm. This is just... Yes. Really hot. Warning for dubious consent at the beginning.
Words with Friends by betty days E | 22k | Human AU, Sub!Dean, Dom!Cas, BDSM |
"Dean Winchester is as straight as an arrow. He’s a lady’s man of epic proportions: the king of the one night stand, the messiah of the friends with benefits paradigm, the emperor of perpetual bachelorhood. Except, apparently, when it comes to his best friend, Castiel Novak. Wherein a longstanding acquaintanceship leads to friendship, then best friendship, then sexting, then dirty talk, then mutual masturbation, then, inevitably, fucking.
Smoking hot and full of feels.
Little Motels by Lovely_Phrase E | 238k | Human AU
After John's death, Dean must travel to California to find his estranged brother and deliver the bad news. He takes Castiel with him, despite the newness of their relationship, and finds himself falling in love while staying in a series of little motels. What he discovers after arriving at Stanford is enough to destroy what's left of him, but Dean isn't willing to give up what they have together that easily.
Wow. This was RIDICULOUSLY long and I can't really believe I finished it. Regardless of the intimidating length (heh), it was a captivating story. Though it edged near soap opera levels of drama at times, the plot was sure, the characters grew and developed, and the writing was excellent. Very good read--highly recommended. Perhaps not for the sensitive (in regards to Drugs or abuse). Also not for john!stans.
Dragon Healing for Pleasure and Profit by whelvenwings G | 6K | Fluff, Wizarding World AU, wizard!dean
When Cas, a zoologist and aspiring author, moves into the house next door, Dean can't help but go over and say hi. He hadn't reckoned, however, on Cas' determination to discover whatever it is that's living in the nearby woods. Dean should follow his instructions and send the guy away, and yet there's always something stopping him. After all, whoever said a muggle couldn't heal a dragon?
OMG AMAZING!! Wizarding World AUs are the best, and this muggle/magical person romance is super sweet.
A Fine Frenzy by the_gabih E | 8k | A/b/O AU, omega!dean, alpha!cas
The rest of Dean's family have these romantic, almost fairytale stories of how they first met their mates. Dean? Not so much. But he's okay with that.
Super hot. Apparently an abandoned WIP, but it's mostly porn so that doesn't really matter.
The Vessel by chellefic E | 7k | Alt!canon, body sharing
When his vessel goes missing, Castiel turns to Dean for help.
I love this fic! Vessel fics/sharing bodies is always a fun and sometimes sexy trope. This definitely delivers on both of those fronts.
There's Only One Sure Thing That I Know ❤ by leah k E | 20k | Fluff,  Alt!Canon
Dean doesn't even get halfway through explaining before Bobby starts laughing. When he lets himself think about it for more than five seconds, Dean can almost see Bobby's point: he's faced down demons, witches, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, angels, and Satan himself and now he's been defeated by the God damn Midwest.
This fic was AMAZING. I want to wrap it up in a blanket and cuddle it. Maybe hump it or something. Idk, I'm flexible.
Unusual by Yosei E | 12k | ABO AU, omega!dean
Now that Sam was in college half-way across the country, Dean needed a roommate in order to keep the spacious apartment (with his own room!) that he'd come to love and call home. With Sam's non-stop worrying, he finally convinces Dean to meet a possible roommate. Who knew that it would be the beautiful dark-winged archangel with a PhD., Castiel Novak?
Come a Little Undone by  FagurFiskur E | 3k | Fluff, Teacher AU, Bottom!Dean, Top!cas
"Well?" Cas prompted, turning his face to the side to look up at Dean. "Are you going to get started?    Something about the annoyed tone in Cas' voice, as if he were the one doing Dean a favor and not the other way around, pissed Dean off enough so that his better judgment took the backseat for just a moment. Unfortunately, that moment was long enough so that by the time it ended, Dean was already straddling Cas' thighs. Written for this prompt: Cas and Dean are teachers. It's the end of the year. Cas is stressed out with grading. How does Dean help?
Short, sweet, and hot. Pining!dean and massages yay.
Sex 101 by betty days E | 50k | Hot, Dancer AU, Alt!Canon, Slow Burn
or: That Time Castiel Asked Dean to Teach Him How to Have Sex. "I want to have sex," Castiel announces suddenly. Dean chokes on his gulp of Baha Blast. Wherein Dean teaches Cas how to have sex, and Cas teaches Dean why to have sex. This fic is filled with music, literature, fluff, angst, smut, feels, and glitter. Lots and lots of glitter.
This AU will just suck you in. God, I love dancer!dean. It started out with some super hot vouyerism, and progressed to self discovery and more super hot things. Yay.
Dean Winchester Is a Gay Virgin by betty days E | 79k | Hot,  Angst,  College AU, Mafia AU, Gay Panic
"Dean Winchester has a grand total of two big secrets: Secret #1 is that he’s a virgin. Secret #2 is that he’s gay. Dean Winchester is a college junior, a full-time mechanic, and a baseball superstar. He's so far in the closet, he can't find a way out. Then he meets Castiel Krushnic, the totally dreamy President of the LGBTQA Alliance at school, and finds out that Cas has some dark secrets of his own.
Wow. This is not what I thought I'd be getting into by the title. I was expecting a nice college AU and then there was unexpectedly the mafia, gritty angst, and family feels. What a ride. If this were a book, I would buy the fuck out of it.
Learning to Breathe by underneathitall E | 114k | Fluff,  Angst,  Hospital AU
Dean Winchester was just admitted to the Psychiatric Ward for minors at Lawrence Hospital after a car accident that killed his father but left him alive. When he finds out his roommate is a kid he used to go to school with, Castiel Novak, they start to make a hesitant friendship. At first, Dean's only focus is to get out as fast as he can without any attachments. Soon after that, he discovers that making friendships with other patients in the hospital and developing feelings for Cas might be what he really needed to get through this all along.
ahhsgahahhHhhh I loved this so much! It manages to be weirdly fluffy and feel-good even though it deals with majorly angsty stuff (mental ward, hello).
Just Kisses by tiptoe39 E | 2k | Hot, PWP
Castiel's not ready for anything beyond kisses. So Dean just kisses him. Everywhere.
Hot and sweet.
Tales from the Bunker of Domesticity by teaandjumpers M | 17k | Fluff,  Alt!Canon
Moments of domesticity between Dean and Cas (and occasionally Sam) in the Men of Letters bunker. Essentially, this is a story about the boys building a home together.
NnoOoOooOoOooo this was so domestic and lovely!
The One With Dean's Anal Beads by triedunture E | 1k | | Hot,  PWP, bottom!dean
Complete PWP: anal beads, multiple, dry/painful orgasms, & dirty talk.
Nnnghhhh
Landing by ladyzanra T | 3k Angst,  Canon!verse
“You think in terms of days, Castiel, but there are no days in Heaven,” Hannah tells him, before he leaves. This, Castiel understands, is the reason she does not stop him.
Fuck everything I'm in PAIN.
Simple As That by ashwinchester4 M | 2k | Canon!verse, First Kiss, First Time
Dean Winchester is not very good at doing things in the proper order. That includes his relationship with Castiel. After Cas becomes human, things begin to change slowly, simply, easily. Until everything is different.
Gorgeous. Simple as that.
Let Your Grace Guide You by angel_kink E | 24k | Alt!canon, wing!Kink,
After Castiel heals Dean at Stull, the hunter finds himself with unexpected abilities. He becomes determined to use his newfound powers, with Castiel’s guidance, to rescue Sam from the cage. In order to ensure that their venture to Hell is successful, they are forced to team up with Crowley, who has his own agenda regarding what’s locked up in the pits of Hell. During the course of their alliance, secrets come out, feelings bubble to the surface, and Dean finds himself once again facing an impossibly dangerous situation in an effort to save his brother.
Napoleon in Rags by linzeestyle E | 42k | Alt!canon, fallen!castiel
“So,” Dean says eventually, breath ruffling Castiel’s hair. “You gonna tell us about this place? “I don’t have to,” Castiel says, pushing himself up on his elbows. “If I’m right, it’s nearby. Near something called Tucson.” Dean looks at him incredulously and Castiel scowls. “I was hiding an invaluable relic, not purchasing real estate. There's no such thing as a hunter retirement plan.
Amazing!! Canon compliant from 8x17 and diverges from there :D
Kryptonite in Shades of Blue and Green by Annehiggins E | 12k | Superhero AU
Dean is the only member of the Winchester family without super-powers and has lived with the threat of being used against him all his life. When Dark Angel finally makes threat reality, Dean ends up trapping them together for two months. A lot can happen in two months. Written for this prompt on the spnkink_meme. Technically Dubcon.
Chasing Cars ❤ by ratherbehere E | 45k | Fluff,  College AU, Stripper!dean, demisexuality, Slow Burn
After an awkward accidental encounter at a local strip club, Castiel discovers his college roommate, Dean, has a secret career as a stripper, and their relationship begins to change and a bond begins to form. They face the joys and challenges of life together and discover along the way how deeply they've come to care for each other.
THIS WAS AMAZING! So much UST, Demisexual Cas, which is my favorite, and a long, slow burn romance where they are best friends primarily. Love it.
A Weekend Project by narrativeimperative E | 16k | Lawyer AU, a/b/o, Omega!cas, alpha!dean,
Castiel Novak is a lawyer for an important firm. He’s also, to his chagrin, an omega. With the help of heat suppressants and some serious denial, it’s not a problem ... until he meets Dean Winchester. And then it’s very definitely a problem.
Literally the best.
Viva by crowleyo E | 38k | AU, Stripper!Dean, doctor!cas, accidental marriagE |
Dr. Castiel Novak swears he will never let his sister talk him into a surprise trip again. Now he has just woken up in Las Vegas with a hangover, an unknown ring on his finger and a beautiful man next to him. It gets even better, though, when Castiel's last memory from the night before is seeing this man up on a stage in a skimpy cowboy outfit. Now, Castiel has to learn to live a cliche.
Hush by Braceyourself & dresden E | 105k | College AU
He'd heard all he needed to know about Dr. Novak, really. Straight-laced academic, prioritizes punctuality, favours the smartest students; it doesn't bode well for Dean.
Wow, so great! Dommy!Cas, teacher/student AU. There is rape in it, but not between Cas and Dean.
The Seraph by Hywar E | 135k | Creature AU, Dub!con, Dom!cas, Sub!dean
Ever since the seraph were discovered, there's been one rule society has had to adapt to: stay out of open water. Powerful, determined and aggressive, the octopus-human creatures are in a league of their own and have no qualms with taking what they want and attacking what they don't. Now, children learn to swim in man-made lakes and beaches are deserted save for researches and the fool-hearted. Dean Winchester is neither of those things. But a hunt has brought him and Sam, his brother, to one of the many abandoned beaches, where Dean is left with no choice but to take refuge in the water. He should be safe, he thinks, he doesn't go too deep - just deep enough to hide himself and to deter his pursuer. He forgot just how fast the damn things could be, and how determined they were once they had their eyes on something.
AMAZING. Love love love! Dominant!Cas who just wants to take care of his willful, human mate. Also tentacle sex. Be warned for dubious consent (because Cas is very convinced he's doing what Dean wants/needs but Dean is not so sure).
Contact by clotpoleofthelord E | 16k | Alien AU, Tentacles
When aliens land on Earth the first time, Dean ignores it. When they land a second time, he's a little curious. When the third landing happens in his back yard, his life gets very complicated, very fast.
Taking Wing by riseofthefallenone E | 44k
Dean frowns around the cave, his head spinning as he tries to make sense of what he’s seeing with his eyes and his echoes. The smell doesn’t hit him until he’s already staggered to his feet, claws clicking on the stone floor. It’s the scent of another bat; different than any kind he’s smelled before. It’s not exactly unpleasant, but it does strike home a realization that turns his stomach inside out. This place belongs to another bat and Dean has pretty much just basically invaded their home.
This is adorable. I didnt know I could get so attached to two gay anthropomorphic bat people.
Rain by The MigratoryLane E | 2k | | Hot,  Canon!verse, PWP
The fact that Dean Winchester was a strikingly handsome man had not eluded him. But the low burn of arousal that now flowed through his veins was entirely foreign not a month ago. Where as an angel the mere sight of Dean’s neck elicited no greater response, now Castiel found that he wanted nothing more than to trace his lips across the stubbled flesh beneath his jaw—to lick and kiss and suck at it until Dean moaned with the sensation.
CASTURBATION!!
Cheers, Angel Eyes by wannaliveindeansdimples E | 20k | AU, bartender Dean, Cop Castiel
Dean Winchester is a bartender. He's noticed a new semi-regular and even given him a nickname. Pretty soon he and "Angel Eyes" become friends. Dean wants more, but is secretive, awkward Castiel ready to give it?
As the author's tags say, no matter the universe or circumstance they always find each other and act all schmoopy.
A Little Slice of heaven by authocracy E | 5k | AU, bottom!cas, wing!Kink
Welcome to A Little Slice of Heaven, where angels stationed on Earth can come, relax, and enjoy themselves. Dance your cares away at our nightclub, or treat yourself to our world-class spa treatments with staff specially trained in the art of wing maintenance. Let our experts turn your stress into pure pleasure. The War is over, and Castiel finds himself bored and lonely in Heaven. He runs into Gabriel, who remembers him from the battlefield and offers to give him a tour of the best places on Earth. The archangel introduces him to his friend Dean, a masseur with magic hands. Castiel, a little self-conscious and shy, doesn't know what Dean means by "extra services" but is eager to spend extra time with him regardless.
Long Time Coming by authocracy E | 13k | Hot, genderswap au
For the prompt: Okay, so in my head, girl!Dean likes her anonymous hookups, likes her slutty biker look and her oversized flannel shirts and skinny jeans. Granted, she's getting a little old for the club scene, but she's always been more of a bar girl. And maybe Sam kind of despairs of her because he's all "RESPECT YOUR BODY AND YOUR MIND DEAN(NA?)" but Dean's never really bought any of that - she likes feeling close to people, and it's hard to with her lifestyle. Plus, there's something powerful about being hot enough to attract as many guys as she does. Thing is, she's not that easy to get off. It takes her time and effort when she's on her own, let alone when there's some guy expecting things of her. And let's be real, a lot of guys in the kind of places she goes to don't really know how to get a girl off. Maybe she's never even come during sex with a guy. Enter Cas.
I love my genderswap fics, and this one is um... really hot.

Giggles. That’s the thing that woke Mel that Saturday. Well, that and almost every other Saturday morning of the year, actually.  She slowly got up from the bed, rubbing her eyes and walked towards the source of the noise, which she already knew it to be some floozy girl sitting on the kitchen counter. And there she was, in fact, legs dangling on the counter and sitting on a stool right in front of her, Mel’s brother, Roger, the reason for the girl’s presence.
She was all giggly and flirty, while not so subtly caressing Roger’s arm and thanking him for the previous night and for the impromptu breakfast he had so kindly made for her. Meanwhile, Roger was literally on another planet: he was nodding along with what the girl was saying, barely paying attention and writing something on a scrambled piece of paper.
They were too busy to notice that Mel had made her way into the room and was now standing on the other side of the counter, preparing some coffee to go. She gazed at her brother, giving him a look that said I wish I woke up one Saturday not feeling like we live in a bed and breakfast for one-night-stands. He scrolled his shoulders and kept on writing. That was their way of saying ‘Good morning’.
They performed that same routine since Mel had started uni and moved in with him and his roommate. They grew up in a small city in Cornwall and since Roger moved to London to study biology, it seemed a logical decision for Mel to attend university in London as well. She was into Physics so her high school professor encouraged her to submit for a scholarship at the Imperial and that’s exactly where she ended up.
From where she was standing, Mel noticed a mass of wavy brown hair lying on the couch, feet on the coffee table and book on the lap, trying his best to concentrate on his reading. That was Brian, the third roomer of the apartment. He studied Physics as well but was almost four years ahead of her. He was one of Roger’s best friends and co-founder of a band named Smile, which the two of them had formed a few years before: Roger played the drums, while Brian was on the guitar. They had struggled for a while to find a new singer since their former one left, but eventually another friend of Roger’s, Freddie, joined and things started to work out okay again. The only thing missing was a bass player, but they were working on that.
“I think I should go, thanks again for last night Rog” the girl smirked at Roger “Give me a call sometime”
He smirked back at her as she went toward the door, but Mel knew he would not have called her. That’s just how Roger was like different girl every weekend, sometimes two, one incredible night of passion and then they would never hear from him again. Mel could not understand how those girls put up with him being such a jerk. Although she might have understood why they fell for him at first: he was actually handsome and he was in a band, so that did half of the work.
“Just when I think you could have changed and actually cared about that girl enough to make her breakfast, you ruthlessly shrug her off like that” she teased him.
Roger ruffled her hair passing behind her “There’s no hope for me, little sister” he said jokingly “and also, Brian made breakfast. Thanks mate, by the way”
Brian flipped him off without even lifting his eyes from the book, then added “What time do you get off work tonight Mel?”
“I have a shift from 9 am to 1 pm and then from 2 pm to 7 pm. As usual. Why you ask?” she said, already picturing the answer.
“Do you have any plans after that?” Brian said casually.
“Why. Do. You. Ask?” she repeated more forcefully.
“Well,” he said cautiously “we’re playing at the Riz tonight and you know it’s always kinda… well, it’s not popular, we were wondering if you wanted to come see us. You know, so that we have at least one person in the audience”
Mel snorted “No Bri, you know I hate that place: there are only middle-aged men that make unflattering comments to every young girl who enters the bar”
She didn’t have to look at him, she knew he was making puppy eyes at her, so she sighed “Fine! If – and I say if – my afternoon shift doesn’t kill me, I’ll try to stop by…”
Brian joyfully thanked her, and she excused herself to go get ready for her job.
She worked on Fridays, Saturdays and basically anytime she could at a local shop called Biba: they stored famous and expensive clothing, which she could only admire the beauty of, not being an expert on the subject. It was just a small job to make some extra money and help out Roger with the rent.
As she walked through the doors she was welcomed by her co-workers Mary and Chelsea: all three of them were hired on the same day and had been working there since summer. They often chitchatted during breaks but weren’t properly friends, well Mary and Chelsea were, but Mel never hung out with them outside of work, which was why she was surprised when Mary asked her
“What are you doing tonight?”
“I kinda promised a friend I would quickly stop by the bar where they’re playing, before heading home. But I have all the intention to blow them off in favor of sitting in front of the telly, watching Coronation Street” she answered, already picturing the warmth of the blanket and cup of tea in her hands. “You doing anything special?”
The two girls exchanged a look and Chelsea said:
“Well… a friend of ours is throwing a party near Ealing’s main building and he asked everyone to spread the buzz. Apparently, someone challenged him to gather the biggest number of people he could. There will be music and, hopefully, a lot of alcohol. You interested?”
She almost denied the offer, but she had to admit she was actually pretty tempted and then realized she hadn’t been to a party in a bit.
“I’m in” she finally said with a smile.
The three of them worked peacefully till closing hour and then headed to the party together. She had to admit they were quite good company and they seemed to get along pretty well.
The party was held in the exhibitions area in the Design department of Ealing College, which was unused at that time; Mary and Chelsea knew their way around since they both studied design there. The place was not that crowded but there must have been at least three hundred people, mostly students and half of them was already tipsy due to the pints of beer that were being distributed at the entrance. The girls grabbed one each and dove into the crowd, making their way towards the dance platform.
They chatted for a bit, laughing and starting to feel the alcohol inebriating their mind as they begin to feel the rhythm of the music. While they were dancing Mel felt someone passing behind her to reach Chelsea, grabbing her by the waist and almost making her spill her drink.
“Oh my God Tom I almost spilled all of this on the girls” Chelsea screamed.
He apologized quickly, gave her a kiss and offered to get rid of their empty glasses.
“Are you okay?” Mel asked, seeing the annoyed look on her face.
“No… Yeah… I’m sorry about Tom, he’s – well he’s my boyfriend but we’ve been through a rough time and I didn’t expect him to be here.” she said and thought I hoped he wouldn’t be here.
Chelsea didn’t exactly know how or when it had started but for the last couple of weeks, things between her and Tom had been… different. They had been together for almost three years and known each other since grade school, but all of a sudden, they were unable to communicate with each other without fighting. That’s why she had hoped to have fun that night, trying not to think about the fact that she was considering the idea of breaking up.
“Don’t worry doll, we’re gonna make sure you have fun tonight.” Mary said “C’mon, let’s dance” and she dragged both of them on the dancing floor.
They danced a couple of songs, then the band announced the end of their set, so the girls decided to go for another drink.
“Go find a place we can sit, I’ll go get the drinks” Mel offered, and she made her way to the counter and ordered three more pints. She thanked the bartender and fumbled to keep all of them in her hands when suddenly someone bumped into her back and she lost grip of one of the glasses, pouring the drink on the floor and on the shirt of a guy next to her at the counter.
“Hey would you mind looking where you’re going?” she furiously said. But the person who hit her was already mixed with the crowd.
“What a jackass”
Mel turned around to meet the eyes of the person who just spoke and realized that was the guy she had spilled the beer on.
Her eyes widened as she said “I am so sorry for your shirt”
She grabbed some towels from the counter and added “Here let me help you”
“Don’t worry I was headed home anyway. My band just finished the set so that’s a wrap for tonight” he said jokingly
She grinned “Wait you were playing just now? You guys were good! What do you play?”
“I’m the bassist” he said smiling “It’s very kind of you, but I know we’re not that good” he chuckled.
“Well my brother’s in a band and they replace the bassist almost every two months because they’re all shitty and I was there every time… So trust me when I say that you are actually pretty good”
He flushed and quickly answered “Well in this case, thank you”
They were standing really close, while she was dabbing the towel on his shirt and when she looked up he was looking at her.
He smiled at her and she could feel her cheeks flush bright red, as she smiled back, thinking he had the most handsome smile she had ever seen.
She was brought back to reality by the new band coming up on stage and making the crowd cheer.
“I should go find my friends” she said picking up the pints
His smile vanished and he tried to hide the disappointment “Sure, I think I’ll head home anyway”
She saw him smiling slightly before she turned on her heels and headed towards the tables. She was still smiling when she sat beside Mary.
“How come you only have two?” she asked.
“Oh, well I didn’t feel like drinking another one all by myself” she shrugged her shoulders, restraining a smile.
“What are you all smiley about?” Chelsea asked smirking.
Mel couldn’t help but picture his smile again and chuckled “It’s nothing, I think a drank too much of that stuff, I feel all tipsy” before realizing she hadn’t even asked him what his name was.
Chelsea was not at all convinced, but she decided not to investigate.
She was startled by hand over her shoulder and when she looked up she saw Tom, who said: “We need to talk”
She got up, already knowing how this would have ended up, but decided to confront him once and for all.
“I’m all ears” she said when they distanced themselves enough from the crowd
“What’s going on Chel? You’ve been avoiding me for weeks”
“I’m not avoiding you… I just – I just need a bit of time”
“What for? Don’t you trust me enough to tell me what’s bothering you?”
It was always like that with Tom. Everything was about him. She was so sick of that.
“No, Tom, it’s not you” she snorted “I just think I need a bit of time to sort things out”
“What does that even mean? Are you telling me you want to break up?”
“NO! I didn’t say that! Christ Tom, you are always pushing my buttons!” she yelled, scoffing and rubbing her forehead. She continued calmer “Look, I love you, but you can’t deny we’ve been fighting a lot recently and seem to have lost the ability to communicate properly.”
He looked her dead serious in the eyes and she cautiously carried on “Don’t you think we need a break? I don’t mean breaking up.” She quickly added seeing the look on his face “I just think – carrying on with our lives trying to sort things on our own and then maybe-”
“Maybe what Chelsea?” he blurted out “Are you suggesting we see other people? Oh fuck, is there someone else?” he said running his hands in his hair “Please tell me it’s not John” he added pointing an accusatory finger at her.
“What? No Tom no! We are roommates but he’s my best friend and yours too by the way.” She replied, hurt by his insinuation.
“Tom there is no-one okay? I just want to be by myself for a while, God why can’t you understand that!”
“Well maybe you should stay on your own forever” he spat out “I’m done with this shit. Call me when you’re back being yourself Chel”
He said that with a poisonous tone however she couldn’t help but think he was right. He left, and she felt tears stinging her eyes. She had to get out of there: she bolted through the crowd excused herself with the girls and rushed out in the hallway before they could catch her.
All she wanted to do was scream from the top of her lungs she had had enough. As she walked rapidly towards the apartment where she hoped to find John’s comforting arms, tears started to stream down her face.

New Beginnings: Chapter 2
Hello, my lovelies! I’m so happy to see that a number of you are already really enjoying this story. I’m already having a lot of fun writing this story and reliving some of the shenanigans I got up to during my first year of Uni, so hopefully you’ll continue loving this story as more events unfold!
I wanted to get this chapter written and posted a bit sooner, but I decided that I should finish and post the last couple chapters of the story I was writing for my other fandom so I could put all of my focus on this one until I get into a bit more of the fun stuff for this multi-chapter fic. I can’t make any promises about how often I’ll be posting for this story, since I’m going to be very busy with work and moving over the next few weeks, but I’m gonna do the best I can to post AT LEAST once per week.
Anyways...I hope you like this chapter that’s mostly background/filler leading up to some real fun stuff in the next chapter! ;)
***
Rae stood in the open doorway to Izzy and Chloe’s bedroom and cleared her throat to signal her presence. The two girls stopped the conversation that they were in the middle of and looked over at Rae with friendly smiles, but she still felt guilty for intruding.
“Hey, uh, sorry if I interrupted the conversation you were having. I just wanted to let you both know that I’ve done all the unpacking that I can handle for tonight, so if you two were still willing to let me come shopping with you, I’m ready whenever you two are.”
“Oh, no problem, Rae! You weren’t interrupting anything,” Izzy said as she climbed down from her lofted bed using the wooden frame of the bed as a makeshift ladder, “we’re just about ready to go as well, just give me a moment to slip on my shoes!”
“So, uh...what were you two ladies talking about a moment ago?” Rae asked as she stood awkwardly in the doorway while the two girls in front of her got ready to go into the city to go shopping.
“We were just discussing our next door neighbors. They’re quite friendly, don’t you think?” Izzy asked.
“Oh, uh, yeah...those lads seem kinda cool, I suppose,” Rae added casually, since she hadn’t really gotten the chance to talk to any of the boys extensively earlier that afternoon.
“I agree. They are also pretty fit, right? It could not have just been me that thought so, right?” Chloe asked with a giggle as she looked at the mirror on her desk to give her makeup a last minute touch-up before the girls left.
“No, I agree. That boy, Chop...He was pretty cute and he’s really funny as well,” Izzy replied shyly.
“I’m more partial toward the boy in the glasses, Archie. Something about that ‘nerdy yet cute’ look he has going on is very charming and I really like it. What about you, Rae? Which of our neighbors caught your eye?” Chloe asked with a suggestive eyebrow raise.
“Oh, I—uh...I don’t know. They were all pretty nice. Archie seemed really friendly though, so I look forward to getting to know him a bit better, maybe.”
“I see...well, in that case, you can have Archie all to yourself. I’ll take his quiet and broody mate that didn’t say much but was able to help us loft my bed. I don’t recall his name though…”
“Finn...uh, his name was Finn,” Rae recalled almost immediately, much to her surprise given her limited interactions with him.
“Ah, perfect. So it’s settled, I’ll call dibs on Finn,” Chloe said as she grabbed her purse off of her desk and swung it over her shoulder, “now...who wants to go shopping?”
***
Chloe had driven Izzy and Rae into the city to go shopping and the trio were able to find the last few things each of them needed in addition to a few odds and ends that Izzy had assured the girls would make the dorm feel “just like home”.
“Just like home”...there’s no toddler making noises in the wee hours of the morning and mum and Karim aren’t trying to sneak secret snog sessions in the kitchen when they think that no one will notice, so I’d say it can’t really get much further from feeling like MY home.
Despite the giggles and eye rolls at Izzy’s insistence that they needed a minimum of five more strings of fairy lights to accomplish the aesthetic she had gotten inspiration for online, Rae and Chloe agreed without further persuasion, allowing Izzy to take the lead to help decorate their shared dorm room however she deemed fit.
When the three girls were thoroughly exhausted and could hardly stand to step foot into another shop, they wholeheartedly agreed to grab dinner from a nearby Thai restaurant together before they headed back to their University.
“So Rae, please don’t take this question the wrong way because I’m so glad that you’re gonna be sharing a dorm with us, I truly am,” Chloe began as she used her spoon to scoop a portion of the chicken curry they had ordered to share between them onto her own plate, “but I gotta ask...why did you choose to move to our dorm so close to move-in?”
Rae had been surprised by the sudden change in the subject of their conversation and nearly dropped the serving of Pad Thai she was putting on her plate once she heard Chloe’s question.
“Oh! I didn’t choose your dorm, technically. I did the ‘Random Roommate Selection’ and was placed with you ladies because I was determined to be a good match for you all,” Rae explained.
“That makes sense, I guess, but why were you only placed in our dorm about a week ago rather than a couple months back when Chloe, Maddie, and I were randomly matched as well and put into this dorm together? Did you sign up for University housing super late?” Izzy asked as she accepted the shared plate of Pad Thai from Chloe who had just finished serving herself some of the noodles as well.
“No, I signed up a few months back and was placed into a dorm with three other girls at first. We were all chatting online for a while since we all lived in different areas and couldn’t find time to meet up, but that group of roommates wasn’t a good match for me…” Rae trailed off as she took a bite of the curry on her plate, secretly hoping that the two girls would be willing to drop the subject.
“Why not?” Izzy asked in curiosity as she and Chloe began eating their food as well while waiting for Rae to elaborate further.
“Uh, the girls I was first rooming with were a bit mean to me...for a while I was content to just deal with it and hope for the best, but one of the girls kept trying to make it abundantly clear that she didn’t want me to be her roommate and that I wouldn’t fit in with the other girls. One day I checked my email and found out that she had submitted paperwork on my behalf for me to be placed into a new dorm, saying that I was unhappy with the roommates I’d been matched with,”
Rae paused briefly to take a bite of her food and to give Chloe and Izzy a chance to say something if they wanted to, but the two girls just looked at Rae with rapt attention as they waited for her to continue with the story.
“Eventually, administration in the housing department agreed to rematch me with other roommates, but it took a while to find a dorm with a vacant bed space. The morning Izzy first reached out to me to welcome me to our shared dorm with the first I had heard about it and I had to double-check that everything there had been worked out at the housing office. But I’m here now!”
“Oh god, I’m so sorry that those other girls treated you like that, Rae!” Izzy said as she reached out to place a comforting hand on Rae’s shoulder.
“Yeah, I can’t believe that bitch would make you feel so unwelcome and then go behind your back to have you moved to a new dorm!” Chloe scoffed.
“That’s so mean! I’m so glad you’re with us now instead. I called Chloe and Maddie so excitedly when I first saw that we had a new roommate placed into our dorm,” Izzy added with a giggle as she took a bite of her food.
“She really did,” Chloe confirmed with a smile, “and it’s definitely the other girl’s loss because you babe, are bloody fantastic!”
The three girls continued making small talk and telling each other about their families, what they were going to school for, favorite hobbies and pastimes, and any other random topic of conversation that came to mind as they devoured their three shared entrees and even chose to order scoops of the coconut and green tea ice cream that this restaurant was rightfully famous for.
***
With the boot of Chloe’s car full of apartment decor and bags from the various shops they had gone to and their bellies stuffed full of delicious food, the three girls piled back into Chloe’s car as they began the drive back to their dorm.
“Are you two ladies planning to join any clubs or organizations on campus?” Izzy asked with her body angled sideways from the passenger seat of the car so she could talk to Chloe while she drove as well as Rae who was seated in the backseat.
“I’ve thought about it. From what I’ve heard, clubs and organizations are great for incoming students who want to meet new people and make lots of friends,” Chloe began, “plus it always seems like all the girls in movies that join sororities and clubs have so much fun at Uni!”
“Do you really think so? You and I must watch very different movies because all I ever see about girls at Uni that join sororities have all sorts of drama, wild parties, and sometimes get murdered,” Rae replied with a laugh.
“So I guess that’s a ‘no’ to my question, huh Rae?” Izzy asked with a chuckle.
“I guess that also means that parties and stuff aren’t really your scene, huh?” Chloe asked.
“Yeah, perhaps not. I’m not completely against it, but I just never really partied prior to Uni and I don’t imagine that changing too much, you know. Do you ladies party and stuff a lot?”
“Not too much. I was really involved in the theatre and dance department at my school, so we’d get together and party sometimes but it was a very close-knit group and it felt more like a family than just a hundred random students getting drunk together,” Izzy explained.
“I guess you could say that I was pretty popular at my old school. I was on a few different sports teams and I was pretty involved in Student Government, so I had a lot of connections with a lot of people. I enjoy meeting new people and having fun, but I would never force you to come with me if you didn’t wanna or make you drink or do drugs or anything like that if you don’t want to, if that’s what you’re worried about,” Chloe said, glancing at Rae in the back seat to be sure that Rae knew that she meant what she was saying.
“I wasn’t worried about that, I was mostly just curious, but thanks for letting me know, Chloe!” Rae replied with a reassuring smile.
***
Chloe pulled into her assigned space in their dorm’s parking lot as the evening sun was beginning to set low in the sky and the three girls each took some of the bags and items from the boot of Chloe’s car so that they would not need to make more than one trip. The three girls scanned their student ID cards at the door to their dorm community that led to the courtyard leading back to their dorm, where they saw Chop, Finn, Archie, and a few other guys that they had not met earlier that day kicking a ball around in the grassy area that was in the center of their octagonal residential community.
Rae hesitated as she watched the guys playing footie while Chloe and Izzy kept walking towards their dorm, but as soon as she locked eyes with Finn—who was still very shirtless—and he shyly waved at her from across the distance between them, she turned away from the group of boys and walked hurriedly to catch up to her suitemates.
Once inside their dorm, each carrying as many boxes and bags from their recent shopping trip as they could fit in their arms, they parted ways to begin decorating their individual spaces and to organize all of the new things they had purchased.
“Oh! Are you ladies back from shopping already?” Maddie asked from her desk in the far corner of the room she shared with Rae where she was sitting and watching a movie on her laptop.
“Yeah! We did some shopping and then grabbed dinner together,” Rae said as she carefully placed the various bags she was carrying onto her desk so she could begin going through the bags if necessary, “I thought you were gonna be going out with some friends tonight.”
“Yeah, I still am, just a little bit later than I had initially planned on. The friends I was gonna meet with had a similar idea to you lot and wanted to get some shopping done before things got busy with welcome week events later this week.”
“Oh, if we had known you could have definitely come with us even if you didn’t have anything to buy just so we could all spend time together and bond a bit more.”
“Yeah, but oh well! We’ll have plenty of time to hang out over the next week or so. My friends should be back pretty soon too and then I’ll probably be out with them until late at night, I think.”
Maddie returned to watching the movie on her laptop while Rae emptied the various bags she had and began to decorate her side of the room, since she had done the brunt of the major unpacking before going shopping.
Despite being taller than most girls she knew, Rae still found herself struggling to hang up the various band and movie posters that’s she had chosen from her extensive collection to bring to Uni with her without standing on top of her lofted bed to give her the height boost she needed.
As Maddie had guessed, before long she received a call from one of the friends she was meeting up with and she bid Rae a good night before rushing out the door of their dorm.
“Oh wow, Rae! I really like what you’ve done with your side of the room,” Izzy said as she walked inside and pulled out Rae’s desk chair to take a seat.
“I love the colors you chose for your bedding, Rae!” Chloe exclaimed as she walked further into the room as well and leaned up again the narrow wall separating Rae and Maddie’s small closets along the far wall of the room, “I really think the lavender throw blanket we chose will match nicely with your navy blue and white polka dot bedding!”
“Thanks! I really like how well my room and decorations are coming along as well,” Rae said as she glanced over her shoulder at the walls on her side of the room that had been barren less than an hour ago but were now partially covered with posters of some of her favorite bands and musicians.
“I just wanted to come in here and say that I’m feeling pretty tired and Chloe and I were just gonna turn in for the night.”
“Yeah, I got up really early today to drive here for move-in and I’ll probably be going to bed soon too, so I completely understand,” Rae said, suppressing a yawn as if it had been brought on by the mere mention of how tired she felt.
“Good night, Rae!” Chloe said as she leaned forward to give Rae a hug before turning to walk out of the bedroom.
“I’m so excited to be living with you, Rae! Sweet dreams and I’ll see you tomorrow morning!” Izzy said as she gave Rae a hug as well and walked out of Rae’s room with a quick wave.
Rae closed the door to her room and found the box where all of her pajamas and comfortable clothing that had not been organized were packed still and pulled out a change of clothes. Once she had changed, she opened the door to her room just a crack—in case Maddie got home once Rae was asleep so she would know that it was alright for her to walk inside—before climbing clumsily onto her tall, lofted bed and climbing under the covers.
The standard-issue dormitory mattress was firm yet too lumpy in all the wrong places and every time Rae shifted on the bed to adjust, the plastic-y crinkle of the mattress cover made it impossible to do so quietly. Try as she might to make her dorm bed as comfortable as she could, it was only now as she lay in bed that she began to regret not cherishing her hand-me-down pillow-top mattress at her mum’s house.
My back is going to be so stiff in the morning…
Rae groaned quietly as she tried to find the most comfortable position she could manage, but as soon as she slipped her earbuds into her ears and turned on one of her favorite music playlists, Rae’s exhaustion took over and she was able to fall into a deep, much-needed slumber despite the unfamiliar setting.
***
Why is it so fucking bright?
Rae rolled over in her bed, onto her stomach to sandwich her face between her pillows in a futile attempt to block out the early morning sunlight streaming through the exposed window beside her bed that she had inadvertently neglected to draw the blinds closed on the previous night.
Rae had almost dozed off again when she heard the loud conversation and laughter of a group of students walking on the sidewalk just outside her window.
Why the fuck does our dorm have to be on the ground floor and right outside the tennis courts?
When she accepted her fate and knew that there was no chance of her falling back to sleep, Rae decided that she might as well wake up now. As she sat upright in her bed, she noticed that Maddie was curled up on her side facing the wall nearest to her bed and snoring loudly as she slept.
Rae sat quietly on her bed, scrolling through some of the email notifications on her cell phone that she had been putting off opening as she tried to decide what she wanted to do now that she was awake.
When I was at home, if I wasn’t in class or working, I’d seldom be the first person awake.
Most mornings if I was free, mum loved sending me on errands or to do favors for her while she “watched the baby”.
Leila also loved to wake up her “big sissy Wae-Wae” at dawn because I was the only one who knew how to cook her breakfast just right and who could sing along to all the songs in her princess movies…
The last time I was awake this early with nothing I had to do was...well, too long ago for me to remember, clearly!
Rae carefully climbed down from her lofted bed, making sure not to make too much noise that would ending up waking up Maddie, and straightened out the blankets and pillows on her bed.
Well...since I’m the only one awake right now, I might as well take a shower and get ready before the others are awake and I’d have to wait my turn.
Rae walked over to the closet on her side of the bedroom and pulled out her clothes to wear today. She brought the pile of clothes into the bathroom, closing the bathroom door behind her, and set it on the counter beside the sink for her to put on after her shower.
Rae reached into the cupboard below the sink and pulled out the small purple basket containing her shampoo, conditioner, and any other shower essentials she would need and walked over to the shower to get the water started to heat up.
Hanging on the towel rack on the opposite wall was a large purple bath towel—a gift from Izzy, since she found it best if the girls had color-coded towels and shower baskets to keep their items organized and separated—and Rae hung her dressing gown on the hook next to it before getting undressed and stepping into the shower.
Finding the perfect water temperature took a bit of trial and error, but as soon as she found the perfect setting, she allowed the warm water cascading down her body to help soothe some of the built-up tension from the stress of yesterday.
In the span of one day, I went from living with my parents and baby sister to living in a different part of the country with three girls that are little more than strangers to me.
Rather than dwelling on all the things that have changed for her and could go wrong, Rae took her time showering and letting the water relax her, since she knew how busy the next few days were going to be as she continued trying to make the transition into University living.
When Rae turned off the water of the shower and used her towel to dry off, she stepped out of the shower and wrapped the dressing gown around her body, tying it snugly around her waist to keep it closed.
Rae walked towards the door of the bathroom and opened it slightly, just to make sure that her roommates had not woken up while she was in the shower, before closing the door again to continue getting ready.
Rae was in the middle of brushing her hair to evenly distribute the leave-in conditioner she used to make her long hair easier to manage when she could hear the faint sound of someone knocking on a door.
“Hello?” Rae asked as she opened the door of the bathroom to see if someone was waiting to use the toilet.
When she noticed that no one was outside the bathroom door but she could still hear knocking, only significantly louder now, Rae panicked slightly in realization that she was the only person awake in her dorm and there was somebody knocking on their front door.
Well shit…
Hopefully if I wait long enough they’ll think that no one is here and go away!
Rae waited in the hallway between the bathroom and the common room waiting for the knocking to stop, thankful for her dressing gown since she had been interrupted in the middle of getting dressed. When there was a few moments of silence, Rae assumed that the person at their front door had left and she breathed a sigh of relief before walking back into the bathroom.
As she grabbed the handle of the bathroom door to close it behind herself, the door creaked audibly and the knocking at their front door began again, slightly louder than it had been before.
Ugh, dammit…
Rae quickly glanced in the mirror of the bathroom to ensure that her dressing gown kept her sufficiently covered so she could answer the door and quickly get back to getting dressed.
“Hey, sorry it took so long for me to come to the door,” Rae said as she opened the front door before she had paid any attention to who was currently standing outside of the door.
“Good morning!” Archie said with a wide grin before glancing over his shoulder and motioning with his hand for someone a short distance away from him to come back over here.
“Hiya Archie! What brings you to our front door so early in the morning?” Rae stepped into the doorway and closed the door partially behind herself to avoid waking her suitemates by speaking too loudly as she talked to Archie.
“Well hello there, Rae! Such a pleasant surprise to see you this morning,” Chop said as he walked into view to stand beside Archie, “we didn’t interrupt anything, did we?”
Chop gestured towards where Rae stood at the door with wet hair and wearing only a dressing gown and wiggled his eyebrows, but Rae just scoffed and ignored his playful joking.
“My suitemates are all asleep still but I was the first one awake and I figured I might as well get ready before the other girls are awake. What can I do for you lads?”
“Oh, well, the lads and I were going to go get some breakfast from the student dining hall. I was just waiting for Chop and Finn to join me, but Finn suggested that we see if you and your suitemates wanted to join us as well,” Archie explained as Finn walked to stand on Archie’s opposite side outside of the door, running a hand through his messy hair in an attempt to tame his bedhead.
“You wanted me and my suitemates to join you for breakfast?” Rae asked as she turned to face Finn with an eyebrow quirked up in question.
“Yeah, ‘suppose so. It seemed like the neighborly thing to do, but ya don’t have to if ya don’t wanna,” Finn mumbled somewhat sleepily as he stretched and tried to contain a yawn.
“I really appreciate the offer, but the other girls are still asleep and I’m not really too hungry in the mornings, so sorry but I don’t think I’ll be joining you all for breakfast this time. I hope you guys enjoy your breakfast, though,” Rae added with a smile.
Rae saw Finn’s expression shift slightly and if she didn’t know better, she could almost swear that he seemed disappointed, but Archie spoke up quickly, preventing her from dwelling on that possibility for any longer.
“No need to apologize. If the other girls wake up soon or you change your mind, the invitation stands and we’d be happy to have you join us.”
“Yeah, or if not, maybe we all can hang out a bit later today,” Chop added hopefully.
“Maybe yeah,” Rae said before glancing down at her dressing gown after a moment of silence had passed, “so I’m gonna go finished getting dressed now, but you boys enjoy your breakfast, yeah?”
Rae chuckled at the blush that crept into Finn and Archie’s cheeks as they followed Rae’s gaze to her dressing gown and back up to her face before the three boys waved goodbye and Rae closed the front door again once they had walked a short distance away.
“Who was that?”
Rae whipped around with a hand clutched to her chest in surprise when she heard Izzy ask the question sleepily from the doorway of her bedroom as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
“It was Archie and our neighbors from 112 that we met yesterday. They just invited us to breakfast with them, but I declined since I thought you were all still asleep. They said the invitation still stands if you want to join them though,” Rae explained once the initial surprise had passed.
“Oh, okay. Chloe was just waking up as well. Were you in the shower when they started knocking? I’m so sorry, Rae! I must have been sleeping pretty deeply if I didn’t even hear them knocking!”
“I had just gotten out of the shower. No need to apologize though, it wasn’t too big of a deal.”
“Alright, well, I’ll go ask Chloe if she wants to go to breakfast and see if Maddie is awake as well and you can go ahead and finish getting dressed now.”
Rae walked back into the bathroom and closed the door behind her before finally getting dressed and brushing through her hair to allow it to air dry.
As soon as Rae was exiting the bathroom, she saw Izzy walking towards the door.
“Perfect timing! The other girls are awake now too but we aren’t very hungry yet. We thought that maybe we could explore the campus a bit and maybe see if the gym on-campus is as impressive as everyone says it is. Would you like to join us as well?”
Rae noticed that Izzy had changed from her pink pajamas into a t-shirt and workout leggings and had pulled her hair back into a simple braid to keep it out of her face.
Well...I’m certainly not the type that looks like I’d belong in a gym, but if my roommates want to go as a group, would it be weird of me to decline?
“Uh, yeah, I’ll join you guys,” Rae replied a bit hesitantly.
“Perfect! The other girls should be just about ready to go now as well,” Izzy replied excitedly as she turned around and walked into her bedroom.
Rae walked into her bedroom to slip on her sneakers and she noticed Maddie seated on the carpet beside her closet tying the laces of her running shoes.
“Oh, good morning, Rae! Are you coming with us as well?”
“Yeah, I figured I might as well since you girls were coming too,”
“That makes sense. I’ve heard that the gym on campus is massive and really nice, so we’ll see if it meets my high expectations,” Maddie replied with a chuckle as she stood from the ground and pulled four water bottles for herself and her suitemates from the mini fridge beneath her lofted bed.
When all four girls were ready, they left their dorm together and walked the long way to the campus gym, making note of the various buildings they passed on the way there.
The three-story gym was indeed massive and all of the equipment they saw in the gym appeared to be brand new and very high quality, and all four girls were simultaneously impressed and intimidated.
“It looks like everyone had the same idea as us and wanted to come check out the gym today,” Maddie commented as the four girls continued walking around the gym to familiarize themselves with the different rooms, equipment, and machines that were already in use by other gym goers.
“Do you ladies want to actually work out or just walk around and see what there is?” Chloe asked before her attention was pulled away briefly by two incredibly muscular boys that passed by them towards the staircase the girls were standing next to.
“I really don’t feel like working out this morning,” Izzy stated before chuckling slightly, “after the long walk to get to the gym, I’m actually feeling pretty worn out and now I’m just hungry.”
The girls chuckled but all agreed to go get something to eat rather than actually working out at the gym.
As they walked the short distance to the student dining hall a couple buildings over the girls continued chatting and obsessing over how many fit boys they saw during their short time exploring the gym.
“Hey, Rae, do you think the boys from next door are still at the dining hall?” Chloe asked as she held the door to the dining hall open for the other girls.
“I doubt it. It’s been nearly two hours since they stopped by to invite us to breakfast, so they probably finished a long time ago,” Rae replied as the girls stood in line to swipe their student ID cards and enter the dining hall.
“Hmm, I wouldn’t be so sure about that,” Izzy whispered as she nudged Rae’s arm with her shoulder and nodded towards a group of boys sitting in a booth against the far wall of the dining hall.
“Oh, well I suppose…” Rae began, but she lost her train of thought as soon as her eyes met Finn’s from where he sat when he glanced up and noticed the girls entering the dining hall.
Those short moments that seemed to last an eternity came to a halt when Chop looked over to determine what Finn was looking at and he saw the girls as well and waved his arms broadly to beacon them closer.
“Rae! Izzy! Chloe! Girl that I don’t know the name of! It’s so good to see you ladies!” Chop called as soon as the four girls had walked into earshot of their table.
“Hello! I’m sorry that I didn’t get to meet you all yesterday, but I’m the fourth suitemate in dorm 113, Maddie. You must be Chop, huh? I’ve heard a lot about you from the other girls,” Maddie replied with a chuckle as she introduced herself to the boys sitting in the booth.
“What are you lads still doing here? Rae said you stopped by at half past eight to invite us to breakfast,” Chloe asked as she stood beside the booth where the boys were currently trying to scoot closer together to make space for the girls to join them.
“What do ya mean? We’re Uni guys now and this dining hall claims to be ‘all you care to eat’ so I’m gonna take the opportunity to eat all that I care to eat, since I’m paying the same price for the student meal plan anyways!”
Chloe slid into the booth in the space beside Finn and Izzy took a seat next to Chop while Maddie pulled up a chair from a neighboring table that was not using it and placed it at the end of the table. Rae looked over to see Archie smiling at her and inviting her to take the seat on the booth beside him, which she accepted with a smile.
“We technically haven’t been here the whole time,” Archie explained once everyone was settled in their seats, “Chop forgot his wallet and we had to walk all the way back to his dorm for him to go get it. And then we, uh, sort of—” Archie trailed off with an embarrassed chuckle.
“We got lost,” Finn finished Archie’s statement with a chuckle as he looked up at Rae across the table directly in front of him and gave her a poorly concealed crooked smile.
“It’s your fault! I warned you all that I have a terrible sense of direction and yet you lot still let me lead the way,” Archie added defensively, causing the whole table to break into laughter.
“Well, unlike you lads, the girls and I already found time to explore a few buildings around campus and visit the campus gym, so we decided that we earned a nice, filling breakfast!” Chloe teased as she, Izzy, and Maddie stood up from the table, “We’re gonna go grab some food and we’ll be right back. Do ya want me to grab you something, Rae, or do you wanna come with us too?”
“I’ll stay here, but if you can grab me a muffin or a scone or something like that, I’d appreciate it!”
The girls agreed and walked to the other side of the dining hall where all of the food was arranged while Rae and the three boys remained seated in the booth.
“I was secretly hoping that you would change your mind and join us for breakfast,” Chop admitted as he grabbed his glass of orange juice and took a drink, “all three of us were, honestly.”
“Yeah? Well I honestly didn’t think you all would still be here when we decided to eat here as well, but I guess I’m sort of glad that we were able to join you all as well. I felt bad for declining earlier this morning and I didn’t want you guys to take it personally.”
“No need to worry,” Archie replied with a smile, “we knew that it was really last minute and you ladies might not even be awake yet, but last night when we decided to have breakfast together in the morning Chop and Finn insisted that we at least invited you all.”
“And don’t take it personally if Finn seemed a bit curt earlier this morning,” Chop replied with a chuckle as he playfully elbowed his mate’s side, “he was adamant that we be good neighbors and invite you to breakfast last night, but when we were actually trying to leave for breakfast, he refused to get out of bed!”
“Yeah, I’m not really much of a mornin’ person,” Finn mumbled with a small chuckle.
“I’m normally not too friendly in the morning either, so I get it. Thanks again for wanting to invite me and the girls to eat with you. That was really nice of you guys to do,” Rae said as she looked across the table at Finn and gave him a small smile before turning to smile at Chop as well.
“Yeah, it’s no big deal, girl! If we’re all gonna be living in the dorms for the year, we might as well get friendly and hang out from time to time like neighbors do, you know?” Chop added with a wide grin.
The three girls returned to the table and passed Rae an oversized muffin that she began nibbling on as the group continued chatting and joking around until the guys mentioned that they needed to be heading back to their dorm soon, since their other suitemates were trying and failing to set up the flat screen TV they had purchased earlier that morning while Finn and Chop went to eat breakfast with Archie.
“So, are you boys planning on going to the ‘Welcome Week’ block party for all the first year students tonight? Supposedly they hire a DJ and have lots of free food and games and fun things to do and it lets all the incoming students mingle a bit. It’s supposed to be a lot of fun,” Chloe explained as she angled her body slightly to better face Chop and Finn where they were seated in the booth.
“My older brothers all went to the Welcome Week Block party when they were first starting Uni here too, but they said that it wasn’t as much fun as they hoped it would be, so I don’t know that I wanna go,” Chop explained.
“Hmm, I see. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go either, but how about we make a little deal. If the girls and I end up going to the party tonight, you boys should come with us too. How does that sound?” Chloe asked as she rested her elbow on the table and leaned her cheek on her hand with her head cocked to the side as she waited for their reply.
“That sounds reasonable to me,” Archie replied with a shrug.
“Uh, yeah, alright, I guess,” Finn muttered with a nod.
“Alright, my dear, it looks like you have yourself a deal. Just swing by our dorm and let us know if you all are heading out to the block party and we’ll definitely join you ladies.” Chop replied with a wink and a cheeky smirk as he and the other boys stood from the table.
“Perfect! I look forward to seeing you boys around, if not at the block party later tonight, then maybe we can make our own plans to hang out soon, yeah?”
Chloe and the other girls said their goodbyes to the boys and waved as they left the dining hall before beginning to discuss their own plans for the rest of the day as they finished eating their breakfast.

If you wanna be added to the tags or if you asked to be tagged but I didn’t add you to the list, please lemme know and I’ll be sure to make sure you’re in my tags list for this fic! ^_^
A/N: So as I continue writing chapters for this story and brainstorming what events and details from my own experiences I want to incorporate, I’m realizing how many awkward experiences I had while living in the dorms. You’ll hear a lot more about some of my other awkward experiences (and some of my wild shenanigans because I was letting loose and getting a tiny bit crazy for the first time since I had all this new found freedom, but that’s a whole separate matter hahah) as this story progresses, but I just found it necessary to share that with you all.
Also, Rae’s little sister is 100% based on my niece that is almost 3 years old because she is adorable and when I think of young children that are a little annoying at times but their cuteness makes up for that and then some, my niece is the first one that comes to mind. I seriously adore her so much! ^_^
I think some of you have some theories about things that could be coming in future chapters and/or you are trying to figure out which characters are significant and why, WHICH I LOVE, so feel free to keep your theories coming…I won’t necessarily confirm or deny them, but it’s still cool to know what your thoughts are as you’re reading through the chapters!
(I’m really excited about the next chapter, so don’t hold me to this, but I’m gonna try to get that chapter written and posted ASAP which could be within the next couple days, possibly…just saying)
Until next time: Stay awesome, my friends! :)

For the past five years, the residents of Bravo's Summer House have invaded the easternmost tip of Long Island, NY to escape the hustle and bustle of work-week Manhattan. In season 5, filmed during the pandemic, they're sequestering together for the whole summer, amping up the tension and heightening the outbursts.
RELATED: Summer House: Where To Find The Cast On Instagram (Season 5)
Since the reality show premiered in 2017, the cast has changed some, but the drama has remained the same. Of course, a number of these up-and-coming professionals stand out from the rest, if only to prove that even with youth and beauty, the struggle can still be real.
10 Luke Gulbranson
Tumblr media
He may be the worst of the best, but Luke brought inter-house dating/two-timing into the mix as well as an argument that was one tequila shot away from turning into a brawl. OG cast member Kyle Cooke took umbrage with the Northern Minnesota native's treatment of women, as he'd been playing both Hannah Berner and newbie Ciara Miller. (Ciara didn't take the bait, but Hannah fell hook, line, and sinker.)
The thing is though, Luke is a working actor, most recently appearing alongside Kaley Cuoco in HBO Max's The Flight Attendant, so it's hard to know if his cad-like behavior is genuine or if he's "auditioning."
9 Lauren Wirkus
Tumblr media
The now married (since June of 2020 as well as expecting) identical twin of Ashley, brought the confidence of a person who knew someone always had her back. Housemate Carl Radke had no chance when he was in a relationship with Lauren because when they'd have a fight, he'd end up being double-teamed by the Wirkus Circus.
She left the series after season 2, but while Lauren was in the house, she made her presence known, such as when she smashed a cake in Carl's face, or in season 2 when Lauren stepped back and gave the floor to Ashley who smashed a watermelon on it to make known their twin anger at Carl.
8 Stephen McGee
Tumblr media
Thus far the only representative of the LGBTQ community, he brought attention to the struggle of trying to balance living his life as an openly gay man (dating Travis) and getting along with his conservative southern family.
In seasons 1 & 2, the event planner was a bit of a pot-stirrer. Giving off a very nice and almost innocent vibe, Stephen appeared to be someone to whom people felt safe in confiding. However, he'd turn around and expose those secrets the minute he felt left out or angered, such as when Stephen got fed up with Carl's treatment of BFF Lauren and revealed Carl's little-known same-sex romantic encounter.
7 Ciara Miller
Tumblr media
As with The Real Housewives of New York, Bravo rightly decided it was time to add a POC to the all-white cast. The Atlanta native was introduced as a friend of Luke's, but because of her confidence, broke free of the association and created her own identity and friendships.
RELATED: Summer House: Ciara Miller's Age, Net Worth, Instagram, Job & More
Ciara, although a part-time model, brings a bit of gravitas to the show via her profession as an ICU nurse who was on the frontline of the COVID-19 relief efforts. Because she likely saw real-life drama in her professional life, she doesn't need it in her personal life, keeping her head while those around her are losing theirs.
6 Paige DeSorbo
Tumblr media
The native New Yorker and fashion influencer (her bedroom at the summer house looks like a giant walk-in closet) has emerged from the crowd as the voice of reason, and like Ciara has managed to stay above the fray, presumably because she has a non-cast member boyfriend, Perry, hence no on-premises entanglements.
Paige has also evolved into the role of in-house counsel/therapist, intervening to advise, negotiate and point out when there's enough blame to go around. Because no one is perfect, she's been known to stir the pot when someone gets on her bad side.
5 Amanda Batula
Tumblr media
When we first met Amanda she was Kyle's beleaguered girlfriend. Even though they were in a committed relationship, he saw no reason to stop seeing other women--especially after drinking too much, which seemed to be every waking moment of the weekend.
Because of that, the guest-cum-cast member had chronic Resting Cry Face, as she often screamed at him. But there's nothing like a long-awaited engagement ring to say all's forgiven. Amanda is very self-assured in her relationship, coming to Kyle's defense against anyone who "comes after my man," and recently left her full-time position as a graphic designer to become the Creative, Branding and Marketing head of Loverboy, a hard teas and craft cocktails venture started by Kyle. Their wedding has been postponed more than once.
4 Hannah Berner
Tumblr media
No one can take a conversation from zero to 60 like this roommate. The podcast host (Berning in Hell and the new Giggly Squad with pal Paige) is the epitome of free-spiritedness and has made no secret that she's not just looking for love but looking to be loved. Perhaps now that, on season 5, Hannah has gotten over Luke by getting under new guy (now fiance) Des Bishop, she will calm down.
Unfortunately, this co-host of Bravo's Chat Room is often hard to like because she constantly starts fights--especially with Kyle. The phrase "hurt people, hurt people" comes to mind when it comes to this young woman who, even when smiling, seems rather sad.
3 Carl Radke
Tumblr media
They say life doesn't give you more than you can handle. If this is true, then Carl can handle a lot. His brother passed away, his parents' marriage failed and left his mother devastated and using her son as her sounding board, and the sales professional lost his job. On top of all that he had to come to terms with his escalated drinking. Those who recall his earlier season relationship with Lauren, and more recently with current housemates Paige and Lindsay Hubbard, know that as a boyfriend, it'll be awhile before he's ready to settle down.
RELATED: Summer House: Why Some Fans Aren't Happy That Carl Radke Quit Alcohol
Although Carl seems determined to get his life under control, beginning with his position working for Kyle running Sales and Business Development for Loverboy, there is a deep emotion that could be construed as anger under the surface, evidenced by the fight between Kyle and Luke, which had bystander Carl the first to lunge at Luke fist raised.
2 Lindsay Hubbard
Tumblr media
Piece of work is a phrase that comes to mind when talking about this blonde bombshell with brains to match. Lindsay is ambitious and business-savvy, and not one to hold back when something's on her mind. She's at once an older sister/advisor to the house's younger female squad, yet when it comes to romance needs a mentor of her own.
Over the seasons we've seen this alpha female have the same confrontation with former cast member/lover Everett, current cast mate/former lover Carl, and current boyfriend Stephen that goes something like: "You should kiss the ground I walk on; You should only focus on me; You should make 'me' a sandwich." There's a fine line between having high standards as to how you want to be treated and wanting to be treated like a Disney Princess. Lindsay seems to be standing on it.
1 Kyle Cooke
Tumblr media
This guy is the gift that keeps on giving. The hard-partying entrepreneur has kept it interesting from the pilot by always finding a way to make it all about him. The quintessential Peter Pan, the 38-year-old is everybody's big brother, yet can be the most immature person in the room, unaware that his frat boy days are behind him.
Kyle seems to be one of those people who cannot be confined, hence he chooses to accept the risk of being an entrepreneur rather than work a 9-to-5, and why it took awhile to remain loyal to Amanda, whom he proposed to in season 3 (2019). The couple has yet to marry, citing the global health pandemic as the reason. Although this was probably a factor, Amanda might secretly suspect what viewers have known all along: she might want to wait until Kyle grows up.

Spoilers: Prt 1 Ch 1
Summary: reader meets John Smith, who is just as strange as she is by miracle or something else?
Warnings: language
Parings: 11 doctor/reader, reader/unseen character
Word count: 1619 words
A/N: sorry I drag this out a bit but I promise it’s going somewhere. BTW it’s a little dialogue heavy. P.S. I’m making the reader Pansexual so if you want you can imagine different genders on the people she dates.
I check the list for the fourteenth time, ‘maybe mum was right I can’t even remember what’s on my grocery list for longer than two seconds, how am I going to handle living alone.’ I have just moved out, I’m 18, and ready to take on the world… ok maybe not the world but at least I can take on the shop, yeah that sounds good some, Mac and Cheese, a little bit of milk, and hand in my resume for a job. Todays gonna be good, as long as I can find a room mate, ‘NOPE! No bringing yourself down today, TODAY IS GONNA BE A GOOD DAY!!’
                                                              -------------------
Today sucked, I got the groceries, I got the job, but apparently I have to make rent tomorrow and without a roommate I can’t afford it! I just spent over $200 on a weeks worth of groceries, everything is over-priced! I should just curl up into a ball and die. *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* ‘What the hell,’ I open up the door to find an overgrown twelve year old wearing a fez, really? “Hi, I’m ummm, John Smith, yeah you seem the type,  I need to use your apartment for a sec, thanks”
“wha-” He cuts me off mid sentence.
“Oh, wow, you don’t have much, do you? Not even a telly. Please tell me you have food like Jammy Dodgers, you can’t live with out them.” ‘Wow, ok he’s odd, I LOVE IT. Finally someone as weird as me… maybe weirder’ “Uh yeah I make my own bisquits so I don’t need to buy much baked goods.” I say trying to defend my dismal living state.
“Oh you bake goods for you, now do you have a window facing the west?” he asked, looking around.
“Yeah it’s that one.” I point to side window “it’s the one facing West.”
“Hahaha” he burst into laughter ‘wow, he actually laughed, ok granted it was an awesome joke, but nearly no one laughs at my jokes… mainly because I tend to repeat them, but that’s another story.’ He creeps over to the window and looks out of it.
                                                            -------------------
I walk over with some tea and Jammy Dodger’s since he seemed to have such a preference to them, I notice he is holding a glowing stick? But decide to say nothing “so as this is my place and you’ve been sitting here doing god knows what,” I check my watch “for two hours and forty five minuets, what are you doing?” He looks at me as if he is considering something. “How do you feel about traveling to faraway places and different worlds?” ‘Oh wow not what I was expecting.’
‘Are you giving me an opportunity to run away?” He started to smile even wider, “Maybe.” He said one word as if he held the world in his hand. An image of my tiny little cutie of a nephew, pops into my head, and my face falls “I really hope you’re not, because if you were, I would do something incredibly stupid. I would actually go and… I can’t. I just moved out and I think my mum would have an aneurism if I ran away now, and I really think that if I left I may never come back.” His smile faded and he went back to looking out the window. “You know if you spend any more time here I might have to start making you pay rent.” I joke hoping that will lighten the mood. “REALLY!” he said, his face lit up. ‘Oh shit I was joking! Well I do need a roommate, and who better than some weirdo who has been looking out my window for almost three hours… This isn’t going to end well.’ “Ok sure, um we can split rent and yeah…” I say wondering if this is seriously happening.
“Great I’ll pay my rent once a month, by the way I may not be here all the time.” He says, running through all of it as if I would change my mind at any moment.
“Ok, wait why?” I question, trying to process this entire conversation and trying to remember where it began.
“Oh well… like I said I travel.” He muttered as if it explained everything. “No that’s not what I mean, if you’re always traveling why stay here?” I ask curiously. “I don’t know, I guess I just need something normal in my life.” He says frowning slightly.
“Pfftt…HAHAHA… and ... you think hahaha you’ll get that here!” I say trying to stop my laughter at the obviously serious situation ‘wow I am immature’
“Well maybe you remind me of someone.” He answers beginning to smile again.
“Who?” I manage to breathe out between laughing.
“I DON’T KNOW SOMEONE! Besides I just lost two people who are… were very special to me and I guess I need something stable in my life.” It was deadly quiet, he had a lot pressed deep, deep down. I hope all that pain doesn’t consume him; maybe we’re even more similar than I had realized. His smile returned as he said “So where do I sign.”
                                                              -------------------
“Y/N WAKE UP!” An unseen dumbass screams into my ear.
“WHAAAT! WHO! WHERE!” I scream jumping off the couch looking around “YOOOOOOUUUU!!!!!” I yell seeing John, my bow tie wearing idiot of a best friend is back I turn around and see another familiar face“ALICE! How are you!” she seems shocked, weird
“I’m… good, how are you.” She says carefully.
“Great, guess what!” Silence answered me, people have long since given up on trying to get inside my head, John used to try, bless his soul. “I was invited on a date. They are the cutest thing, so sweet but with a bad streak. You know because I always pick the healthy relationships… we’ll probably end up killing each other but they’re just so… so” I repeat trying to find the right word.
“Cool?” Great he’s got that grin again, I hate that grin.
“I was trying to avoid” I fake a shudder “That, word, so I will just go with awesomely amazing.”
“yep this is going to end terribly, remember the last time?” John has gotten used to my dating habits, but he’s never even been in a relationship as far as I know so he can just shut it.
“Yes-” I begin
“And the time before that.” John continues.
“Yes but-” I continue
“And the time before that.” John repeats
“Yes!” I yell trying to get him to stop
“And the time before that.” He begins to wear a smug smile.
“YES OK, I GET IT. I suck at picking the right person, but maybe I don’t want something long term.” I finally get in.
“Oh yes the ‘I’m never getting married and I’m never having kids but I will still coo at every baby and cry at every wedding’” He says using a poor imitation of my voice.
“Ok, first of that sounded nothing like me, and secondly Alice you’ve been really quiet, usually you would have taken one side or another, or made one your self. Are you sure you’re ok?” Alice’s eyes widened, she looked to John as if to ask for help, he just shrugged ”Well I guess it’s ok to not want either of those things but still enjoy them, but a long term relationship doesn’t have to end in marriage and it’s a really nice thing to have someone there who will love you through thick and thin, even if you know it will end, it’s just nice.” She says trying to defuse the tension.
“Mmm, that does sound nice, shame I suck at picking ‘em, see ya.” I say as I walk out the door.
                                                              -------------------
“Now where have you been?” John says trying and failing to act responsible.
“It’s 9:00pm I was gone an hour and a half! What do you mean where have you been?” I yell completely pissed off at the world.
“I was kidding, wait … what happened?” he asked shocked
“Well…” I began
“ALICE TALK ABOUT GIRL STUFF WITH Y/N!” John screamed with his usual, oh god, get away, attitude.
“What!” Alice and I scream simultaneously, alas he was already out the door before I could kill him.
Alice shuffled awkwardly before asking “So what happened?”
“The usual they treated me like they were better than me, and I made my sense of injustice vocal.” I sigh defeated.
“oh… did you punch them?” She says, smirking.
“I wanted to, but no I kept myself under control thank you very much.” I reply proudly.
“that’s good… wait have you punched someone before!” she laughs shocked.
“Mmaaaayyyybbbeee” I giggle, enjoying the conversation.
“Oh my god, y/n, why.” Alice gasps shocked.
“She was a jerk and she deserved it, you should have heard the things that bitch said.” I respond in defense.
“Was this before or after you punched her?” she asks getting caught up in the drama that is my life.
“Nah, but socking her in the face seemed to shut her up.” I say chuckling at the memory.
“HAHAHA, then what happened?” she asked.
“I stormed out of there and ate ice cream and watched Marred at First Sight.”  I replied.
“Whats that?” she asked confused.
“The greatest show to make fun of, don’t worry, I’ll show you.” I say already going for the wine.
“Now?” She asks excited.
“Sure.” We watched the drama that these poor idiots put themselves into and laughed until John came back looking panicked and he told Alice they needed to leave. You know, Alice was acting real; it gives me an odd sense of Déjà vu.

[fanfic]  Morning Meeting
Characters:  Ken, Daisuke, Takeru, Iori||Pairing:  Ken x Daisuke/Daisuke x Ken Word Count:  3,004||Chapter Count:  1/1 Notes:  College AU.  Absolutely smut and pain and Kaiser-free.  There is an attack pancake, of sorts, though. Summary:  Ken hasn't met his fourth roommate for more than a handful of minutes. He doesn't even know the redhead's name. But that's all about to change...with a pancake on Ken's head.
Ken pulled the pillow over his head and tried not to listen to any of the sounds drifting through.  He needed a thicker pillow.  If anyone had <I>ever</I> told him that sharing an apartment with three other people would have been so noisy – especially in the morning when he really needed his sleep – he wouldn’t have bothered.
And still the noises trailed in.
He hadn’t lived here more than a couple of weeks and he mostly recognized his apartment-mates on sight.  Takeru was the blond who wanted to be a writer, Iori was the brunet who spent just a bit more time in the study of swordplay than most people did in this day and age – not that Ken could really protest because he studied judo himself – and the third…
The third Ken could only identify as the redhead, because most of the time their schedules didn’t cross enough for Ken to spend more than a few minutes with him, and most of the time the third guy was doing something that made anyone in the area facepalm.  Ken hadn’t ever met someone who could pull that often as much as this guy could and did.
The noises weren’t quieting down.  Ken ground his teeth and grabbed for another pillow.  He had to <I>study</I>.  He wasn’t going to get the grades his brother did without working for it.  Osamu could get good grades just by walking by a class.  <I>He</I> had to study.
No sleep, no studying.  He refused to avoid sleep.  That wouldn’t do him any good at all.  He’d seen that the hard way.
The noise kept on going.  He thought it might even be getting louder.
He was going to have to get up.  He didn’t want to.  But unless he asked them, they weren’t going to stay quiet, and that meant he wouldn’t get his sleep and that meant that he wasn’t going to pass the next couple of tests.
He wasn’t going to let <I>that</i> happen.  Not on <I>his</i> life.
Ken drew in several deep breaths in the hopes that this would help him.  He at least managed to roll out of bed and find his bedroom slippers.  He ran a hand through his hair, knowing it would be a lot spikier than he preferred wearing it.  He had the <I>worst</i> bed-hair.  People told him more than once that he kind of looked like his big brother when he first got out of bed.
He’d never seen it himself.
But now he stalked his way out of his tiny room and toward the noise, that only got louder now that he didn’t have the insulating pillows and closed doors between him and it.  That made him even more annoyed.
“All right, say it again.”  Takeru’s voice was the first one he recognized.  “How did you do it?”
“I told you already!  Three times, already!”  That one he didn’t recognize.  Clearly the other roommate, the one who wasn’t Iori.
“Yes, but I didn’t believe you the first three times myself.”  That was Iori.
Whatever was going on, part of Ken started to want to know what it was.  The rest of him just wanted them all to shut up or take their argument somewhere else.
The kitchen didn’t have a door to it.  Ken stalked through the opening with all the fury of a slammed door anyway.  He’d always had a knack for drama and he put it to full use right now.
“I am trying to sleep,” he snarled, his voice low and dark and full of rage.
He always got like that when he missed out on his sleep.  Osamu teased him more than once that if he didn’t get his afternoon nap, he spent most of his time snapping at anyone who got in his way.
Ken wasn’t going to argue that point.  It was, after all, correct.
All three of them turned toward him.  Takeru and Iori looked more than a little surprised.  The third…
This was really the first time that he’d seen their other roommate and been anywhere close to a mental condition to really let his looks or his name sink into him.
He was a redhead; Ken recalled that much.  He had deep warm eyes like cinnamon and a mouth that was wide open, either because he’d been about to say something or just in shock at someone stalking into the kitchen as if he owned it.
Ken technically rented it, just like the rest of them.  That was good enough for Ken.
Ken now set his hands on his hips and glared even harder.  “I’m trying to sleep,” he repeated.  He didn’t think he needed to say anything else.  Iori and Takeru tried to stammer something but he just shook his head.
But the third one moved closer.  “Uh, sorry about that.  It was kind of my fault.”  He waved one hand as if that would help explain anything.
Ken didn’t care.  “Whatever it was, don’t do it again.”
Takeru and Iori were looking up at the ceiling.  So was the other guy.  Ken knew he’d been told his name, but it wasn’t coming to mind, not right now.
Maybe if he got some more sleep.
He turned on his heel, intending a dramatic departure to go back to bed and forget this happened for another couple of hours. At least he so intended until something wet and goopy fell on his head.  He stopped where he was.  He reached up to touch it with the tips of his fingers.  Then he turned around.
“Why is there an uncooked pancake on my head?”
Takeru coughed.  “That’s what we were yelling about.  Daisuke was making breakfast and he kind of got a little overenthusiastic.”
Ken’s eyes cut over to the redhead:  Daisuke.
“I want this pancake off my head.”  He also wanted to pretend this morning hadn’t happened and maybe meet Daisuke under better circumstances.
Because Daisuke was cute.  Very cute.  Especially when he looked like he wanted to melt into the floor under his feet.
Daisuke hurried over and tugged the pancake off before it could actually start dripping into Ken’s face, babbling apologies the whole way.  Ken just shook his head, reaching up to see how badly he needed a shower.  He usually preferred to clean up in the evening, but he wasn’t going back to bed with pancake batter in his hair.
He was going to need a shower.  A nice long hot one.
He might not even be able to get back to sleep at this point.  If he’d slept all the way he would’ve been fine.  But now he’d woken up.  He’d gotten out of bed.  He’d interacted with people.  He would have to take a shower.  Not only did all of that eat up precious sleeping time, but by the time he got back to sleep anyway, it would more than likely be time for him to get up anyway.
This just did not look like one of his better days.
“Look, I’m sorry,”  Daisuke said, his back to Ken as he dumped the pancake remains in the trashcan.  “I cook when I get nervous.”
A stress cooker.  Just what he needed in his life.
A cute stress cooker.  He’d encountered worse people to spend any amount of time with.
“What are you nervous about at this hour?”  Ken wasn’t sure of how much he wanted to know, but the question came nevertheless.
“I’ve got a test later and I’m not sure if I’m ready for it,”  Daisuke confessed.  He glanced toward Ken, then blinked, eyes going beyond him.  “Where’d they go?”
Ken turned to see Takeru and Iori were no longer there.  He tried to breathe.  “I think they went back to bed.”  Jerks.  Doing what he couldn’t, since their classes started later than his.
Not that he wouldn’t have done the same thing if their positions had been reversed.
“I really am sorry,”  Daisuke said.  Ken looked back at him the moment he started talking.
Their eyes met.
Whatever Daisuke was saying, he stumbled to a halt, the words choking in his throat, his cheeks flaming red, and he ducked his head, staring now at the floor.
Ken could feel heat creeping up his own cheeks, and he swallows, trying to make sense of this and not knowing anything else to say but, “It’s all right.  You weren’t doing it on purpose.”  At least he hoped not.
He swallowed.  “I’ll be back.”
He didn’t wait for a moment but hurried to the shower, not wanting to be seen in the blue shorts he sleeps in and with pancake goop drying in his hair.  Not anymore.
He showered.  He scrubbed from top to bottom and then carefully combed his hair until it was back in the style he preferred, looking less like a wild man and more like a civilized human being.  He even got dressed.  He’d get by without sleep.  As much as he disliked it, he’d done it before and he knew that he would do it again.
There was someone to talk to.  Someone he’d never talked to and yet even with those few words exchanged, he felt like they were just kind of picking up from a start he didn’t remember having.
By the time that he made it back into the kitchen, Daisuke had cleaned up all of the mess and even finished a proper breakfast.  If one liked pancakes, that was.
“I made some for you,”  he said, as soon as Ken was in the kitchen again.  He hesitated.  “I didn’t know if you’d want some, but...”
Ken smiled.  No sooner did the expression appear on his lips than Daisuke relaxed.
“I’ve never had them, but I don’t mind trying.”  He’d never been much for Western-style cooking, but after all of this, he thought it would do no harm.
The two of them sat down and started eating.  Daisuke still had pancake mix stains, not just on his cheeks and lips, but on his arms and shirt as well.  Ken wasn’t sure if he wanted to brush them off or just stare at them.
He’d never, ever in his life experienced anything like what being around Daisuke made him feel.  He’d dated a few people over the years, but nothing all that seriously.  His goal of being an architect came first.  So he’d focused on his sleep and his studies and whatever minor bits of relaxation he couldn’t actually put off, and as far as he was concerned, that had been more than enough.
Until he met this pair of amazing eyes that went on forever and laughed and he didn’t feel as if they were laughing at him, but invited him to share the joke, even if he didn’t know what the joke was.
They talked.  Ken couldn’t have said who asked all the questions.  They took turns and he learned.  Daisuke was taking mostly business classes with a few extra courses in home economics and cooking:  his goal was to start a ramen chain of his own one day.  He hadn’t decided between having a solid physical store that was in one place or between a portable cart.
“When I was a kid, I liked the idea of going from place to place,” he said, tracing a finger in his pancake syrup.  “But the more I think about it, the more I’m not sure how that would work with building up a clientele and being able to stay dry.”
Ken nodded; being dry would be a major factor in his choice of where to eat.  There was something to be said for watching rain or snow fall behind the safety of four walls as well.
Before he knew it, he’d offered to sketch out a few ideas for a potential shop structure.  Daisuke's eyes lit up at once.
“That would be amazing!  Takeru says you’re really, really good at that kind of thing!”
Ken’s cheeks tinged a bit pink once again and he ducked his head.  “I’ve always liked the idea of building things.  Creating things.”
“I’ll make you some of my very best ramen,”  Daisuke promised.  “You like ramen don’t you?”
“Sure.”  He’d never had anything made for him, not like this.  Not by someone like Daisuke.
He didn’t think he’d ever met anyone like Daisuke in the first place.  This guy was one of a kind.
Ken liked the idea of that.  To know someone who was that unique, that rare, that special.
“It’ll be the best ramen.  Just you wait and see!”  Daisuke promised, and Ken smiled.
“I don’t doubt you at all.”
Daisuke wanted to throw every bit of ramen he’d made into the trash and start over.
“This is just not going to work,” he groaned, staring at the noodles in front of him.  They weren’t good enough.  They could never be good enough.
Takeru lounged in the living room, close enough to the kitchen so he could hear Daisuke’s complaining and snicker at him.  The two of them had known each other since they were eleven and Takeru knew every complaint Daisuke had about his skills in cooking.
“Should I call big brother so he can lend a hand?”  Takeru teased.  Daisuke jerked upward at that.
“Don’t you even think about it!”
Takeru’s big brother wasn’t the kind of professional cook that Daisuke wanted to be.  What he was, was a musician, one of the best in the country – if not the world, if one asked Takeru.  But he still knew how to cook and he made certain he and his band-mates didn’t survive off of fast food while they toured around.
He’d tasted Daisuke’s food before.  Daisuke had no idea of what he thought about it, because he’d never been able to stick around long enough to find out.  Sure, Takeru <i>said</I> he liked it, but that wasn’t necessarily true.
The idea of someone like Ishida Yamato tasting his attempts to make ramen for Ichijouji Ken sent chills all through Daisuke, and not the good kind that looking at Ken sparked off.
He’d seen Ken before in the apartment, but he hadn’t really paid much attention to him.  Their schedules made it difficult for them to spend more than a handful of minutes around each other, so he just hadn’t thought about it.
Until the day he’d tried to make pancakes, ended up with one on the ceiling, gotten into an argument with Takeru and Iori over it, and then Ken stepped in there, and everything changed.
He wanted to say things to Ken.  He wanted to do things with Ken.  He wanted to try every rare recipe he could get his hands on and see if Ken liked them.  He wanted to go to movies with Ken and to go on long walks and talk to him, find out even more than they’d somehow failed to talk about the few times they’d had time to talk to one another since that morning.
Now that they’d met one another, Daisuke couldn’t imagine his life without Ken in it.  He’d never believed in soulmates but if such a thing <I>did</I> exist, maybe Ken…
No, he couldn’t be that lucky.  If the world were kinder to him, then maybe…
Well, it wasn’t, and he would have to deal with it.  He would spend what time he could with Ken now and they’d go their separate ways, even if Ken really did design a building for his future ramen restaurant.  He would pay for it and say thank you and they’d drift apart over the years.
That was what happened.  He’d gotten used to it.
With a deep sigh he pulled his attention back to the ingredients and started to sort through it all one more time with the intent of making the best ramen that he ever had.  This was for Ken.
Ken hadn’t strangled him for tossing a pancake on the ceiling and said pancake falling onto his head.
Ken deserved the very best.  So Daisuke was going to make sure he had it.
By the time Ken came back into the apartment, he looked ready to fall over where he stood and not move another inch until morning.  Daisuke hurried over right away to guide him to the nearest couch.  Takeru and Iori were out somewhere doing whatever it was they did when they weren’t at home and were out together.
Daisuke hadn’t ever asked.  He wasn’t sure if he wanted to know.
“I’ve got the ramen,”  he said once he thought Ken was aware enough to listen.  “Are you hungry?”
Ken blinked a time or two, then nodded.  “I don’t have the plans drawn up yet, though...”  He trailed off as if he expected Daisuke to put the ramen away with that.
Daisuke, of course, did not.  He just made certain he had a good steaming hot bowl of dinner ready.
“That’s okay.  Maybe this’ll help?”
He brought the ramen in on a tray, along with some of the green tea he knew Ken liked.  Their schedules still conflicted more than they didn’t, but he’d made a point to have all of this ready tonight.  He’d probably regret doing this instead of studying or sleeping, but he didn’t care.
Ken tasted it carefully, his eyes slowly lighting up more and more as the flavors sank into him.  He flashed a brilliant smile toward Daisuke.
“This is delicious!  What do you call it?  I mean… other than ramen?”
Daisuke blushed a deep cherry red at that.  “Just ramen, right now.  I might think up a name for it later.  But you really like it?”
Ken gave him a very deep and serious look.  “I love it.”  He finished his bowl in just a few minutes, with every indication of having told the absolute truth.  Then he asked what almost every chef and cook in the world loved to hear.
“May I have some more, please?”
Daisuke’s heart pattered with delight.  “All you want. All you have to do is ask.” The End Notes:  Well, the way to a man’s heart...

LOVED your fic recs! You mentioned that you had runner-ups, what are they? I'm curious because we have similar fic tastes and I've read most on your list.
Thanks mate! I’m glad you appreciated that and yes, I was originally going to post 15 fics, but I cut it down to 10 because I’m a lazy bastard. The following are honorable mentions to my treasure trove (or part two, view it anyway you want.)
Make a Wish by AcrobatElle
Rated: E
Noted Features: Wish Realm!AU, Canon Divergence (Season 6), Wish Realm Fix It, Older!Killian, Porn with Feelings
Author’s Description: Stuck in the Enchanted Forest after her wish was granted, Emma seeks out Killian. She doesn’t expect what she finds.
Rose’s Review: If I were a bigger cunt than I already am, I would just download this fic and sent it to A&E and be like “See this? This is what you should have done you bloody fucking wankers instead of going for the laugh!” (I’m not bitter I promise.) This isn’t just amazingly crafted Captain Swan smut, it’s amazingly crafted Captain Swan smut that rips out your heart and makes you weep for Wish!Hook because he’s just so unhappy but so gracious and in love with Emma (all Killians are in love with all Emma’s, let’s just face it). He really could have been bitter but he’s just so accepting and encouraging of Emma and his main verse self that it makes you want to curl in a corner with a bottle of rosé and weep to “White Flag” by Dido. It doesn’t make you cry because it’s angsty, it makes you cry because they just fucking love each other so much and Wish!Hook kinda gets the raw deal because he has no Emma of his own. He arguably doesn’t really exist but you still feel bad because despite the fact he was unhappy that doesn’t mean he didn’t have a good heart. Ugh. Just read it and have feels.
Put me in coach, I’m ready to play by killians-dimples
Rated: T
Noted Features: Modern!AU, PR!Emma, Athlete!Killian, Baseball & Killian
Author’s Description: PR Director Emma Swan moves to Pittsburgh intent on restarting her life. But playboy shortstop Killian Jones is making her job a hell of a lot harder with his antics.
Rose’s Review: Guys, baseball and Killian is my absolute weakness. I’m completely gaga for baseball player Killian. I honestly got a lot of Bull Durham and For the Love of the Game vibes from this (I don’t know if the author watches Kevin Costner baseball movies, but I sure as hell do because those are the only good Kevin Costner movies there are) with a twist of Trouble With the Curve (I love baseball movies, shut up!). This is unfinished and I seriously want to see where BK goes with it because I love it so and the tension between Killian and Emma is just getting started. As for usual, Killian is a hot mess with a heart of gold and Emma is the hard ass who is working to put him in line. There’s only a few chapters to this (and a super awesome smutty one-shot here: [LINK]) but I do love the tenderness displayed between them when they’re just hanging out and watching the Home Shopping Network. BK does an actually incredible job of giving Killian an air of loneliness without bluntly saying he’s a lonely guy during a scene where he’s having a conversation with a telemarketer he’s on friendly terms with. Before you even read Emma’s thoughts on the subject, it really just strikes you that this version of Killian has no meaningful relationships outside of David and Robin. I really hope she revisits it but it’s only five chapters in and I fucking love it.
Walking in a Straight Line by msgenevieve
Rated: M
Noted Features: Modern!AU, Drunk Kiss, UST, Slow Burn-ish (because they’re idiots), Roommates!Captain Swan, Lawyer!Killian
Author’s Description: It’s one of the oldest stories in the book. Two old friends have a few too many drinks, two old friends share a kiss. Happens all the time, right? But what happens when only one of them actually remembers it?
Rose’s Review: Technically this isn’t finished but where the author left off makes for a decent enough ending. This fic really pulls at you with the sexual tension and angst between Killian and Emma to the point where when they finally happened, I literally cheered in my seat and basically made a scene on the bus I was on. They’re so frustrating in this story and the rest of the cast (especially Mary Margaret and David) are notably agitated by it as well, which makes the ending result very satisfying. I am actually amazed that David and MM were friends with them for so long and just didn’t lock them in a room one day so they would finally just break all the damn tension. Walsh is positively wicked in this fic, knows all of Emma’s weaknesses and plays on them so well that you can’t help but flinch when he all but metaphorically stabs her and twists the knife. Killian is almost as much as an emotional mess as Emma is and the weight of his emotions is crushing, but not to the point where you start to hate Emma (which has happened to me with some fics.) All and all, the ending is worth the amount of emotional torture this fic puts you through.
Stardust in Your Skin by midwestwind
Rated: T
Noted Features: Soulmates!AU, One Shot
Author’s Description: Emma Swan may believe in magic and curses and fairy tales but she absolutely does not believe in soulmates.
Rose’s Review: I don’t usually read Soulmates!AU, but honestly this barely constitutes as an AU and the soulmates aspect is subtle, which is why I love it so much. The soulmates aspect is not overly played and I would argue meshes well with the whole OUAT True Love mythos. I love the constellation element to the soul marks and the added element of different constellations from different realms. Emma’s reluctance to buy into the soulmates thing is so characteristically her, and her mixed emotions of curiosity, anxiety and reluctance towards Killian’s soul stars is very palpable without being entirely in your face. The tenderness and vulnerability displayed in the final scene between Emma and Killian when she reveals her soul stars is so powerful and well written that it gave this one-shot a real place in my heart and a place among my favorite fics.
The Worst by alchemystique
Rated: T
Noted Features: Henry Centric, One Shot, Future!Fic, College!Henry, StepDad!Killian
Author’s Description: His life is so weird, weird weird weird, he used to think it was so cool but who the hell would believe him if he told them David Nolan was his grandfather - oh and also Prince Charming, no, seriously, like, the actual, real life husband of Snow White - and his mom is around here somewhere, probably figuring out the amount of time it takes to break in and sneak past security, or cataloging every emergency exit on campus. Weird.
Rose’s Review: I love everything about this one-shot here. It makes me laugh every time I read it because though it’s a much older Henry which we haven’t seen yet, the voice the author has chosen feels very organic and realistic. His exasperation with everyone, especially with Killian and David, is hilarious. Though Captain Swan is not the real focus here, I really love the depiction of Emma and Killian in this. They seem so comfortable with their relationship and I really love the lack of jealousy on Emma’s end towards all the co-eds and college moms ogling Killian. The ease and comfortability is just so refreshing because it’s Captain Swan and there’s always drama, and the lack of serious drama is a breath of fresh air. The banter is just so natural and loving and Henry’s lack of surprise/what-took-you-so-long-Killian reaction to their engagement is incredibly amusing. The best line: “Oh my god, my mom and Killian are literally True Loves, you actually can’t get any closer to it than those two unless you’re, like, Snow White and Prince Charming, and my mom could kill you with a toothpick for even having dirty thoughts about him”
The Dark Horizon by qqueenofhades
Rated: M
Noted Features: Black Sails!AU, Black Sails/OUAT Crossover, Pirate!Emma, Lieutenant!Killian, Pregnancy, Angst, Jones Family Dysfunction
Author’s Description: The Caribbean, 1715: Royal Navy Lieutenant Killian Jones and his brother, Captain Liam Jones, have just arrived to help pacify the notorious “pirates’ republic” of New Providence. But they have dangerous allies, deadly enemies, and no idea what they’re getting into when they agree to hunt the pirate ship Blackbird and the mysterious Captain Swan.
Rose’s Review: I’m going to admit it, it took me awhile to get into this fic and that’s mainly because I’m a terribly shallow bitch and for some reason huge paragraphs bug me (this is such a minor thing and something that is definitely easy to get over), but regardless I pushed through my bitchiness and actual read it because I love both OUAT and Black Sails, and goddamn. It’s very good fusion of the two worlds and it was fascinating to see a Captain Swan variation where Emma is more of the “moral corruptor” than Killian is and I do love the twist on that. I have to say the character I loved the most is Black Sam, who is just the unsung hero and moral support for everyone in this story. I was like “goddamn, I need this guy on the legit Black Sails show.” I’m more a Vane fan and he isn’t featured as much as Flint and Miranda are, but I could live with that. You really don’t need to watch Black Sails or have that much knowledge of it to fully enjoy this fic, which you definitely will because it’s so action packed. This fic is unfinished and I eagerly await to see what the author does with it.

My Fading Taste to Korean Dramas
I know that, I was a fanatic of the K-dramas. Dare I say, I was one of those peeps in our school who devoted his entire senior high school to k-dramas. I was very into it. But somehow, I get derailed.
I really don’t know what happened to me.
At the beginning of my class in UP, I really tried to continue watching Korean Dramas, I watched Mr. Sunshine and Miss Hammurabi. But I really had a hard time watching it, first because my roommates are sort of judging me for it. Because apparently, they don’t believe in the KDrama montage. I really thought I was the “woke” one in our room. But hell was I wrong.
Maybe they are the ones who are awaken by the society. That life isn’t some love fantasy that are perfectly created. That beyond those perfect smile of the actors and actresses are the horrid realities. They romanticize a lot of things, being a doctor, lawyer, business, detective, and even a weightlifter. But I realized that life is a lot more than those dramas. That the reality is more cruel, that everything is so vicious to survive.
I watched the reality in PGH, on how people everyday are dying, waiting for their turn, but still have nothing. Why? Because the system that we live in right now isn’t perfect. Because what those Korean Dramas told me is that the Medical field is a cool way to live, that there are lots of exciting operations, lots of love life and interests, and lots of competition. In a way, those are true in some korean dramas. But actually it isn’t. It is a place where actual people die. Where people die because they don’t have enough money to pay, where people wait and wait even if what they need is intensive and immediate care. Why do they have to wait? Because they are poor. Because they are not priorities. While those people enjoy the eye-candy cinematography and the flirtatious banters between the main leads, there are lots of people dying. Life is at what is at stakes inside the hospital. But a lot of hospital don’t even accept these people. Because of the bills, because they can’t afford it.
Another thing to point out is the mouth-watering actors and actresses they use to portray these people. With their aegyo and their sharp dressed looks. Korean movie makers and even series makers are very competitive, even music producers. I don’t know but ever since a lot of these actors and actresses commit suicide, I never have been fond of Korean dramas anymore. Because what lurks behind those lines are depressed actors, with their sexist remarks on how they keep on protecting the female lead. On how the world egotistically revolves around them, and how they have no regards on the people that supports them. One of the killers too, are the fans. They keep on pushing these artists, when they are in a relationship, they bash the one who has less fame. Accusing him/her of using the other. I also want to point out on how these Korean actors and actresses are stuck in an era where they believe that men are better than women, that there are only two genders i.e. male and female. That men are destined to find the leading lady, or are destined to be with one another, or destined to find their mate. Can’t they just stay alone? Be friends? Support each other? Without not normalizing being alone? They get teased when they are alone because they want to be. They tease them for being a homosexual, bullying is even rampant everywhere. The parental pressures are very high because expectations are being established. Yet what they choose to feature is a girl wanting some quickie with a boy because she was infatuated by him and vice-versa?
This is why I started cringing to lots of korean dramas nowadays. Because the spark has been outshone by the light of truth.
