Buddie fic teaser

I was listening to "Down Bad" and the idea for this fic came to me. My brain works in funny ways so it doesn't really match the song (at least for now), since it's basically a different take on accident-induced-amnesia.

Anyways, this is just a teaser, I literally thought about it today so it's not done and it might never get finished. Maybe posting it here will help move it along...

No name fic, rated T thus far since the starting point is the shooting.

When Eddie went down, Buck felt a part of himself died with him. It was like an out-of-body experience: he could see himself paralyzed, completely frozen, unable to function because his best friend in the whole world had just been shot. Eddie’s body gave out, hit the pavement, and Buck was pushed to the floor. Eddie was bleeding out right in front of him, and Buck felt himself dying along, but there was no bullet hole to blame. It was all pain, the worst of aches he’d ever known, it was like his heart was ripped apart as Eddie’s body was torn. Eddie seemed to be reaching out, and Buck’s brain went back online. He thought about Chris, about their love for each other and his love for them. Buck had to make it right, so he gathered his strength and wits, and got into action. After dragging his best friend’s body, after placing him in the truck, after tending to his wound, after dropping him off at the hospital, Buck still didn’t feel completely alive. There was a lot of waiting involved, a lot of uncertainty, a lot of crying. When he was told that Eddie was going to be okay, that was when his heart started beating again. Buck ran to the hospital, he needed to see Eddie alive and well for himself. The only reason he hadn’t been right next to his bed was because he knew Chris needed him and, if he was honest with himself, he needed the kid just as much to get through it all. Once he got to Eddie’s floor, Ana was waiting outside the door. She didn’t look as happy as Buck was expecting, all things considered. He wanted to greet her quickly and move on to the room but she stopped him. “Hey, Evan, just, you need to know something before you go in.” “What is it?” Buck was feeling dizzy all of a sudden. “When Eddie woke up, he didn’t… he didn’t remember some things. The doctor said maybe he hit his head or the trauma—” Ana sounded defeated. “What does he remember?” Buck asked, dreading her answer.

I keep on hearing people go all "The voice of the Smitten is such a creep. All he wants in the princess is someone to control and keep as a pretty object. He'd drop the princess if she wasn't the perfect petite maiden like in the damsel route." and I will not stand for the Smitten slander.

Like, he ALWAYS loves the princess no matter what she looks like or how she acts, he loves her for being herself no matter what or who she is. That's the point of his character and I'm tired of people slandering my boy.

Since book 7 part 5 (the part where we meet Meleanor/Maleanor 👀) is coming to EN this month, i would love to see your take on lilia’s proposal to meleanor! i mean they were like little kids right? it couldn’t have been that serious…i think the only reason she even brought it up again is because she could tell lilia still genuinely loved her…(even if he didn’t realize it himself?) but, oh well! You're also wrong if you think Athena only likes Penelope because of Odysseus and/or Telemachus. As if Athena didn't see a young Penelope pull some shit and immediately think "Oh! Turns out, being placed in a civilian family who have no knowledge of your background is actually detrimental to the health and development of a child assassin due to lack of proper support! Surrounded by strangers in a foreign city, Danyal Al Ghul does as assassins do best. He hides. Espionage is one of many teachings one learns in the League, and it only takes half a day for Danyal to construct a new persona to hide behind: Daniel Fenton.

By the time dinner rolls around, Danyal al Ghul is safely and securely tucked behind the face of Danny Fenton; brand new adoptive child of the Fenton family who came from overseas. A shy, quiet little boy with a thick accent and curly hair, with brown skin and blue eyes, and an avid interest in the stars. The best fictions are always cobbled together in a little bit of truth, it's some of the only truth he ever lets through. He apologizes in a meek voice for his behavior early, he didn't mean to be rude, and he watches the three of them eat it up with coos.

Lies roll like silk against his lips, he struggles to meet their eyes and offers them his weakest, shyest smile. It's too easy. It's easy to go from there.

Danny Fenton, adoptive son, shy and awkward and unconfident but friendly. Who struggles in his classes and isn't the brightest, but tries his hardest. He makes bad jokes and has a quick tongue and a sarcastic mouth. He wants to be an astronaut. He's got the best aim in school, and is a terrifying dodgeball player. He's one of the least athletic kids in his grade.

It's like playing two truths and a lie, but there's only one truth, and the rest are lies. It's easy to pretend when he knows it's insincere.

Danyal Al Ghul, grandson to the Demon Head. Deadly, trained assassin. Has spilled blood, has had blood spilt from. Environmentalist, animal activist. He loves the stars. He owns a calligraphy set. A sharp tongue, an even sharper blade. He's clever, quick-witted, he would be top of his grade if he tried harder. He purposely doesn't.

He misses his family. He misses his mother, and he misses his brother. Mother visits a few times a year, so few times that he can count it on both hands. He cherishes every visit, as brief as they are. It helps remind him who he is.

Sam and Tucker are Danny's best friends. They've never met Danyal, but Danyal's met them.

It becomes routine to become Danny Fenton. As familiar and as easy as pulling on a shirt in the morning. Danyal wakes up and is always first to the bathroom in the mornings; stares at himself in the mirror until he can finally see Danny staring back at him. At night, he locks his door and sheds the mask.

Dying throws a wrench in his mask; splits a crack straight through the porcelain. He's able to smooth it over with sandpaper and liquid gold, but it's a little hard keeping his ghost form under wraps. It instinctively wants to shift to show his true self. Danyal can't have that, he's spent four years as Danny Fenton, he'll spend another four as him as well. Even if the feeling of the hazmat suit in his ghost form feels restrictive, like a too-small shirt suctioned to his skin that needs to be peeled off.

He'll live. Er-- well, you know what he means. It's frustrating however, trying to keep his Danny Fenton mask up even as Phantom - fighting in the air is something he needs to get used to, and the sudden propping of powers throws him off. But he is nothing if not adaptive, and he hates that he needs to slow his own skills down in order to keep pretenses up in front of Sam and Tucker.

The first time Danyal summons a sword when he's alone, is one of the few times Danyal gets to grin instead of Danny. He's fighting Skulker, and from an invisible hilt he draws a katana from thin air. It startles them both. Skulker takes a step back at the smile that spreads across his face.

They're both silent as Danyal examines his new sword.

"Do you know what people like me do to people like you, poacher?" Danyal finally asks him, the accent he began to hide a few months in slipping through. He drops all pretense, dragging the flat end of the blade slow and appreciatively against his palm. It's a good make, and when he cuts it through the air, it slices through like butter. He looks up at Skulker with a smile; "are you ready to find out?"

When Sam and Tucker ask about why Skulker seems so skittish around Danny now, Danny shrugs at them and says with a playful smile; "I don't know, I guess I kicked his butt too hard after our last fight." and he watches as Sam rolls her eyes exasperatedly, and Tucker snickers with his own joke.

By the time he reunites with Damian before their 15th birthday, Danyal is buried beneath so many layers of Danny Fenton that his brother will need a shovel to dig him out. He's not sure what he'll find.

Not to be that person, but if Kamala Harris were a white man with the exact same ideals, positions, and beliefs, it wouldn’t have even been a competition. Realising that the worst thing you can apparently be is a woman, is truly devastating.

My biggest beef with the way Annabeth was written in the show is that I think Rick fell into his own trap. Like his whole thing with Annabeth is that just because someone doesn’t look smart doesn’t mean they aren’t. And while it’s about their literal looks for both the show and the book, book Annabeth also sometimes acted in ways that people wouldn’t stereotypically associate with “smart” because I think we’ve all be condition to think bbc sherlock no emotions genius is the only way to be smart. Book Annabeth acts super flustered around Luke because she's a kid and she has a crush on him, she's afraid of spiders, and wanted to see the arch just because she thought it was cool. In general book Annabeth is allowed to be sillier and have a wider range of emotions than show Annabeth without it detracting from the fact that Annabeth is smart. I find this whole "stoic genius" idea is often used to put down teenage girls for being dumb and superficial just because they show emotions and the only way to beat it is to be cold, calculating, and emotionless and most people just aren't like that.

I just found your Itty Bitty Au and I have to say, I love how you've written Perry and the other fairies to be... just a bit selfish? How Perry won't consider turning Dev into a Fairy- not because he doesn't really care about him or thinks there's a moral issue with it, but because if he turns Dev into a fairy it'll negatively effect HIM. Also, super excited to see more of Timmy (both)!

Fairies are not like humans in that they have “Good or Bad” morals. Fairies, by nature, are extremely selfish. They don’t care for human conflicts, human goodness, or human morale.

A fairy’s first priority is doing their job right for their court, and their second priority is doing what they want most. Selfishness is innate for Fairies as Compassion is innate for Humans.

Cosmo and Wanda are outliers in that they care about their godchildren to an emotional degree. It’s what made them the best fairies to be godparents!! Peri… doesn’t understand that quite yet.
