I think it’s hard to take people who are like «anti shinobi system» and then judges the characters based on their fighting abilities and usefullness, seriously. It’s like “I hate the shinobi system”, *judges the characters based on how well they live up to the standards of it*.
#naruto#anti shinobi system#it’s also so funny how they are usually like this with the girls#it’s like:#why isn’t this 12 year old child solider the strongest and most useful ninja?#the Naruto fandom loves to talk about how messed up naruto is#because of the use of child soldiers#but they suck at internalising what this actually means for all of the characters#and how that is going to influence how the characters act and think about the system the live within#mine

When the test subject they told you was aggressive is actually just angsty and autistic
.
I figured if Wheatley were a human he would probably be part of a team that cares for test subjects. Which involves basic medical checkups and general wellness checks. Maybe in Chells case, since she’s so anti-social, he was tasked to be a sort of companion so they could get more information out of her for testing purposes. :3 he’s classified as a nurse and has basic training in it. But he’s not making sense because he’s kinda scared of Chell at first. She just thinks he’s weird and kinda smells bad.
.
I have a hc on why Chell is a test subject I’m just gonna try to write it here
Basically her mother was too young and poor to raise a child so she felt it better to put Chell up for adoption. The orphanage she was raised in was being used by aperture to scout out children with certain “exceptional skills”. They noticed that Chell was highly intelligent and a great problem solver, but had no interest in spending time with others. She had no friends. And none of the other children noticed or cared when she left. She was probably adopted by a high ranking scientist and raised for the specific purpose of testing. She has little concept of social norms or things outside of aperture because she was taken from a “normal” environment so young. [like. Before she was 10 maybe? Idk.] but it doesn’t mean she’s dumb or anything, she just doesn’t really get it yk. Sorry if this is actually so stupid and embarrassing ignore me
#portal#portal 2#chell#wheatley#chelley#chell x wheatley#wheatley x chell#autism be damned my girl can be a child soldier#testing on people is bad#especially children#but aperture is bad so i wouldn’t put it past them#this is kinda stupid#I also like to just not think abt her backstory at all#I feel like she wouldn’t care much about who she used to be#because that person is dead and all their share is a body and first name#everyone who knew that girl is likely dead too#so there’s no point in searching for answers that don’t exist anymore#Chell is Chell and she’s okay with that#it’s like 3am sorry I just love portal it’s my special interest#yay#ughghvhghdchhf

Yk, I hate that adaptations keep making Peter a high schooler, and not just because it means he never evolves, but because the adaptations now also include wider Marvel, whitch usually (thanks to the MCU) is at the modern day stage with legacy characters and new age teen heroes, meaning that Peter is taking up Miles' spot and you can really tell when they put him next to someone like Kamala Khan or Sam Alexander who are Miles' pals. Tho Peter taking Miles' stuff is just a modern issue overall, just look at MCU whitch just stole and re-skinned Miles' personality, characters, story-beats, even the costume to an extent and then made it worse.
agree 👏
#sci speaks#sci. release the script doctor you did where it actually was miles in the mcu and peter parker is a grown ass man.#it was funny. peter was a really bad intern at stark industries#who stole stark tech on the sly.#and of course. tony catches wind of this because he has cameras everywhere and. those cameras happened to also catch.#him sneaking out of work as spider-man.#and tony ropes him into civil war or whatever because otherwise he could Literally press charges.#and peter's :((((((((#begrudgingly joins tony's side.#in the post credit we see that he's been gathering stark tech to build miles morales some very neato webshooters.#and voil.a. miles is the star of homecoming and. peter is the mentor figure that encourages miles to start small.#miles: but YOU teamed up with the avengers a#peter: do as i SAY not as i DO.#sighs. so little would have to change.#but no more child soldiers and no more over exposure of tony stark. fantastic. superb.#also showing a slightly sneakier peter parker who isn't exactly entirely morally upstanding.#steals from billionares while they're not looking to serve the people who need it.#robin hood figure !! sexy. would falll to my knees for a peter parker like that. would be my favourite on screen peter ever.#and it puts him more in an interesting spot with the villains in the movies too.#if we still go with the route of all the villains being affiliated with stark tech and stealing / using stark tech#then peter is like. in a more complex role in the story. he stole stark tech too. is he better than the criminals?#he uses it for good. he thinks. but that's his judgement.#just i think it would be neat. all the “you're just like me” rhetoric falls so flat in those movies.#but what if it hit different.#but that would be if marvel had the courage to make a complex spider-man movie#where peter parker is allowed to make morally complex decisions asides for “uhh. stupid kid makes stupid mistakes”#sci talks movies

leans out a window. it is not salem’s fault that oz uses child soldiers to guard his fortresses. it’s not her fault that he made a deliberate strategic choice to recruit children into a war they didn’t even know they’re fighting. (and it certainly isn’t her fault that he’s been getting kids killed in training for decades before she made her first move!)
he has been trying to destroy her for thousands of years while salem lived in exile, not fighting back, until one of those grown-up child soldiers found out the truth and gave her something to fight for. if your defenders are all children because you set up your fortresses to masquerade as schools, if you for decades continually made the choice to use children as unwitting human shields then you don’t get to blame the enemy when children die on the front lines. YOU PUT THEM THERE.
#meanwhile the youngest of salem’s handpicked agents is in her mid-twenties when the war begins#children start training for the huntsmen academies at thirteen AT THE OLDEST…#rhodes thought nothing of training cinder for the academies when she was TEN.#literally fanon salem is just people blaming her for the fucked up system oz created because she…goes to war to tear it down#like no. sorry. the one using almost exclusively child soldiers is the one responsible for children dying in battle. she’s right.

It's weird to think that with Jordana being a teenager in the middle of a revenge journey and Cinder being an adult who is at most 20 years old who likes to beat up kids, that leaves Jay as the second oldest (probably the less... immature if you compare him to the other two) in the Wolf Clan after the 60-year-old tiger.
#There is no conceivable universe in which these three get along#The three of them are a mess and probably the most emotionally unstable team Ras could have put together#like one of them has had amnesia for 6 years#The other is using a technique daily that can drive him crazy#and Jordana is already halfway to becoming Azula at the end of ATLA#I can't imagine Cinder and Jay having a friendly conversation to begin with#and in LP AU it is worse because there is a child soldier in the team too#Truly the most wonderful team#ninjago#jay ninjago#Cinder ninjago#Jordana ninjago#Ras ninjago#Also I don't know how old Ras is#I just go by the vibes#ninjago dragons rising leaks#Ninjago dragons rising#jay is like in his early 30s in my hc btw

Sharing my writing on this website feels weird but
Imagine an Azriel that doesn’t exist. He’s a ghost in the eyes of the world, he isn’t known publicly, by the courts or even by his closest friends.
His job is the night courts spy, his job is to be sneaky and unknown, so why would he be a public figure? Why would there be records of his existence?
There are rumors about a male made of shadow, it’s a horror story maids tell the children of lords, so they behave. It’s an urban legend among the higher fae, the night courts monster that has no problem going undetected through your wards.
The high lords have a suspicion that a shadow spymaster exists, but they’ve never seen him nor do they have any proof.
Azriel who makes appearances as often as the planets align, whose existence is only confirmed to the Inner Circle of the night court. Even then, they rarely meet face to face, only relying messages through letters and notes.
An azriel who doesn’t exist, but desperately wants to.
#do you guys GET IT#HE ISNT A PERSON IN THE EYES OF THE WORLD BECAUSE OF HIS USE#HE WANTS TO EXIST AND BE KNOWN#something something Eris is the first one outside the night court to officially meet Azriel#At a court ball to celebrate the high lord of nights marriage#he sees a man out of the corner of his eye on a balcony and approaches him#azriel is taken aback but entertains the conversation for a few brief moments before disappearing once again#something something azris happens and azriel discovers he has value beyond being a fucked up former child soldier#somnas.writes#azriel acotar#azriel shadowsinger#acotar#a court of thorns and roses#acotar au#azriel centric#my pookie#Rhys wanting to know azriel more but due to the nature of their positions he can’t so he has Cassian know him instead#Cryptid!azriel

just from the way michael talks about lucifer and not the other archangels i do think there was something going on in the whole department of "i raised lucifer [but not raphael and gabriel]" because. it just. i mean. they framed lucifer as a Youngest Child and gave him Youngest Child Syndrome to parallel sam when lucifer. is a middle child? so it kind of implies that michael & lucifer were separate in some way from raphael & gabriel. but given that gabriel and lucifer have scenes where they're clearly familiar which each other in a brotherly way (lucifer literally starts trying to lecture him in 5x19 despite. everything) and raphael has a throwaway line about lucifer (albeit in a negative way) in kind of the same way that gabriel has a throwaway line about michael (again. in a negative way) so clearly there was SOME overlap. but michael just never talks about any of them except for lucifer except for HIS throwaway line of “my brothers are dead” in 15x08 which. wasn’t even the main point of his sentence lmao. so like. what happened. was it a thing of michael raising lucifer who in turn raised raphael who in turned raised gabriel? did lucifer raise gabriel AND raphael while michael followed god around like the good son he was and stopped by periodically to check on lucifer and by EXTENSION the other two? was michael’s favoritism just that blatant and part of the reason he and raphael grew so distant from each other even though they both remained in heaven. who the fuck knows!!!!!
#like. maybe this is just me. but wouldn't it have made more sense to make lucifer the youngest instead of gabriel.#and have gabriel be the second-oldest. because i mean michael and gabriel are USUALLY grouped together in religion anyway!#the soldier and the messenger! it would've made sense! and then lucifer would've come along as the actual youngest child that outshone#all of them. does that make sense.#<-2025 ME TALKING I WROTE THIS POST BACK IN 2022 AND IT'S STILL USING THE OLD POST EDITOR LMAOOOOO#HELLOOOOOO OLD TUMBLR I MISSED YOU#ahem. anyway

I lied. Put your clothes back on. I wanna discuss dying and/or dead platonic relationships in the hanahaki au. I'm just really fascinated by the implications of this trope.
Has anyone considered what to do with children who don't feel loved ? With parents who are queerphobic or colorist or misogynistic? What does society do with a daughter whose vision goes dark because she knows her father hates gay people? A son who is suffocating on hydrangea petals because his mother keeps giving him bleaching creams as birthday presents? A non-binary kid who coughs up blood because their favorite brother is a red pill podcaster with millions of followers?
That barbed dread in the pit of their stomach when they look at their admired loved ones and realize, "if they knew i was different, they'd hurt me".
When there's demonstrable proof that you won't be safe or worthy unless you've physically/mentally mutilated yourself to your family's standards, how can you not just die inside? Does it not pain you to be so imperfect?
And the fact that these families mean well! That father doesn't want his daughter to go to hell! That mother doesn't want her son to be punished for his dark skin by this white supremacist society! That favorite brother truly believes adhering to strict gender roles will make the rich capitalists respect the common man!
When the pain you've caused your family is seen as merely an investment in a better future, how does it feel to know the only thing you've ensured for them is an early death?
That's kinda fucked actually.
#hanahaki#fanfiction#fanfic trope#worldbuilding#this could get dystopian real quick#because since thats child abuse cps would definitely be involved#there's gotta be multiple private industries dedicated to taking these children and hypnotizing them into forgetting their first families#and then like#turning them into the perfect company soldiers#mentally and legally vulnerable children with literal holes in their chests where there families ought to be?#“its free real estate!”#like yeah we'll cure you but also you gotta pay us back ☺️#btw how do you feel about joining my new religion? pay no attention to the white man in jesus cosplay who we all worship 🥰#mine#{speculative}.tag

Hi, I’m so sorry this ask is long and probably messy but I saw you talking about Allison and Klaus and I’ve been thinking about them a lot so here’s something:
I’ve seen a lot of people hating on Allison at the end of season 3 for making a deal with Reginald and “getting Luther and Klaus killed” when she clearly didn’t know that was gonna happen and there’s no way she would agree to do that.
Like they specifically have a problem with her making a deal with Reggie but, what do they think Klaus was doing? Do they think he was too stupid or too naive to make a deal? Is it not a deal if they don’t shake hands? Because I think Klaus was playing his own game and they just fell for the “I’m hanging out with dad because he’s nice now” act.
Reginald tried to use both of them to get the others on board with his plan but that didn’t work because, despite everything, they still respected their siblings decisions. Allison could have rumored everyone and be done, but instead she committed the crime of… actually talking to them and maybe putting on a fake smile? Klaus could’ve been very manipulative and insistent, enough that Lila told him to back off.
In the end, Luther got killed because they weren’t willing to go that far and Reginald had to find another way.
Yep yep yep. I think you are 100% correct. Allison clearly did not know what she was agreeing to, and she risked everything she could to undo the harm.
People have been falling for Klaus's shtick since the first week after season 1 came out. He says he is just a carefree silly who doesn't know better and can't do anything and the fandom says "yep!" or "I can't believe the writers would do this to him" instead of looking at the incongruencies as deliberate choices for them to examine. This is regrettably not new.
I think it is worth SERIOUSLY questioning why people are so charitable with Klaus and assume the absolute worst possible of Allison. Because you have hit the nail on the head. They are extremely similar characters, who have almost 100% the exact same flaws, and yet one is the fandom darling and the other's tag is about 80% people talking about how much they hate her.
#the umbrella academy#klaus hargreeves#allison hargreeves#tua meta#HOW FUN to use that tag again thank you anon!!!!!!!!!!!!#I missed out on s3 meta because I was doing chemo for stage 3 cancer#so it is nice to get back into it.#also: I am going to hear about Allison sexually assaulting Luther#1. she stopped. She realized what she was doing and she stopped.#2. Klaus has issues in that department as well#which is natural!!! They were child trafficked soldier billionaires and both used their charisma or LITERAL POWERS to get what they want#Of fucking course they are messed up in that way#She stopped. She is not an irredeemable monster. She is a person who went through THE WORST THING POSSIBLE and had some nasty reactions#Get the fuck off her ass

Hey, I was wondering. Did you also find it weird that the first time Yoichi talked to Deku he didn't properly introduced himself and jumped right into his backstory? He didn't even tell his own name. Not only that, but after finishing his backstory he took Midoriya's hand into his own. After he just talked to the kid for the first time. What makes it weirder is that, as stated, he didn't even introduce himself first.
Not—particularly? Okay, so like, I love me a Creepy OFA and a Yoichi with some dark spots, as I’ll discuss below the cut, but my thoughts tend to go in different directions than this. Forgive me if I’m misreading you based on my experience with fandom parlance, but your usage of “weird” here comes across to me as implying suggestive, even scandalous, motivations from Yoichi, a kind of sensationalistic Stranger Danger, and that’s just not a read I ever took from the scene in question.
Though Yoichi may not have known this, Deku didn’t need to be talked through who exactly he was seeing. He figured out who Yoichi was within seconds of the dream starting, between already having been told the story of OFA’s origin with the two brothers, recognizing All For One’s voice, and AFO and Yoichi addressing each other as Brother.
Yoichi said at the end that he wanted to show Deku more, but Deku was only at 20%. Deku’s low integration with the power limited how much and how long he could interact with the vestiges—that limitation came back up in Banjo’s first appearance and was still in effect until Vestige!AFO “forcibly drew [the vestiges] out” during the war. With the OFA vestiges stated to be far more latent and vague prior to Deku, the dream encounter was probably the first time Yoichi ever managed to directly address one of the bearers! If that connection was still patchy and Yoichi didn’t have a lot of access to Deku’s mind yet, he might not even have known that Deku had already been told the story of OFA’s origin. Presumably, then, Yoichi was trying to get as much across as he could in as little time as possible—hence leading with a version of the backstory that quickly communicated who he and AFO are, why AFO is a bad dude that Yoichi is against, and how One For All was first created. He just didn’t have time for more details than that, and every second he wasted on introductions would cut into other things he could be showing Deku instead.
I don’t think he shows untoward initiative in taking Deku’s hand. Deku was already reaching out—indeed, he was reaching out for Yoichi, albeit the Yoichi of the past. Deku also doesn’t drop his hand when the dream fades and Vestige!Yoichi staggers out of the dark, which he easily could have if he were feeling wary. Instead, his hand is still extended when Yoichi reaches back for it, telling Deku both to be careful and not to be afraid. I think the touch is intended to be reassuring.
No, it’s not how you’d want to behave with a stranger in real life, but the mindscape isn’t a real-life space and Yoichi isn’t some rando on the street. He’s the driving voice of One For All, the fateful power entrusted to Deku, and a man who spent nearly his entire life under AFO’s thumb. Given those factors, I don’t read Yoichi as being particularly suspicious there, or hold it against him that he gets right to business.
None of that is to say, though, that there’s nothing sketchy about Yoichi! I think you can read quite a lot into him that the canon would rather you not, and can go even farther than that if you’re willing to put your own spin on things for AUs or the like.
(Hit the jump.)
For starters, I’ve never liked the tendency of the OFA bearers to refer to each other by number rather than by name, something that starts out kinda sporadic but gets exacerbated considerably in the endgame. It makes them feel militaristic, even self-dehumanizing, which is particularly galling when Kudou starts intoning piousness about peoples’ quirks being embodiments of their individual wills and desires. Hey, Second, if you think AFO should be afraid of quirks because of the people behind them, maybe try using those peoples’ names.
I also desperately wish we could have had a version of the story that was willing to explore Yoichi as a hardliner making sweeping proclamations about how an oppressed minority should use their meta-abilities when he himself doesn’t have one of those meta-abilities and therefore is at very little risk of being killed by an anti-meta mob. My ideal Yoichi would hear about Stain's crusade and say, “He's going a little too far, but he's not wrong.”
Seriously, I’d love it if BNHA would acknowledge Yoichi as being legitimately, admirably far-sighted about his brother’s machinations, but also that he only has the luxury of that long-term outlook because his brother is attending to all his basic needs. Yoichi doesn’t have to worry about food or a place to live, he’s in no physical danger with his terrifying older brother looking out for him, and he has no dependents of his own. That’s all because his brother is keeping him locked in a vault against his will, of course; I’m not saying he should be fawning and grateful to AFO! It’s just that he comes across as very strict and inflexible when he fails to recognize that not everyone can take for granted the sustenance, shelter and safety he is so ready to reject.
I wish the story could acknowledge it as a character flaw, that Yoichi is so sheltered and isolated that he can’t empathize with people who will make bad bargains if it means helping their loved ones, people who are living every day in fear and are desperate for a way out of that fear. Heck, I’d like it even more if Yoichi could empathize with that (he’s got all the reason in the world to both love and fear his brother, after all, and they did grow up on the streets!), but his own unbending viewpoint leads him to assert that it’s more moral to starve to death than accept a deal with the devil, and so that’s what everyone should be willing to do.
And of course, that’s all just about Yoichi as an actual person, which the thing in OFA definitively is not, no matter how the story treats him. During the mindscape conference post-war, he says outright that he and the other ghosts within One For All are, with the sole exception of All Might, just quirk vestiges, not real souls. Every day, I wish for a version of BNHA that was willing to take that distinction seriously! I’ve got tons of thoughts on how OFA could have been made creepier and more of a challenge for Deku to overcome simply by treating it as a power instead of a person, a power with its own dictates and drives, a “will” detached from a conscience or true self-awareness.
As a bonus, this would also have let the endgame have its cake and eat it too with Demon Lord AFO. Allow the real man nuance and affection for people, a motivation for his megalomania that goes beyond “Because that’s what my favorite comic book character did,” maybe even (how shocking!) a willingness to entrust his fortunes to his chosen heir. Save the cartoon villainy for the quirk, which manifests with AFO’s face and mannerisms but is really just a mindless drive to consume, no more sapient than an AFO-themed chatbot.
That’s what I’d have liked All For One and One For All to boil down to, really: one a quirk that exists to devour and the other a quirk that exists to destroy the devourer. And somewhere in all of that, the Deku who wants to use One For All to save and the Shigaraki who wants to use All For One to destroy have to center and find themselves.
(Ahem.)
That’s my oversharey thoughts on Creepy OFA and Yoichi as an actual human being with objectionable traits and uncomfortable belief structures. But canonically?
I suppose Yoichi and the others in OFA being hardline anti-AFO militants—which they sort of are and sort of aren't, because their writing lacks consistency—could feed into a willingness to come on stronger to Deku than is entirely kosher. I wouldn’t call that behavior “weird,” though; I’d call it “urgent,” or possibly “anxious.” If I wanted to argue that Yoichi willfully chose a narrative that would discourage sympathy for AFO, maybe I’d throw in some words like “peremptory” or “dissuasive of asking inconvenient questions,” but even those suggest a level of calculated, dogmatic malice towards AFO that I just don't read Yoichi exercising there. His focus is on explaining the origin of One For All, not demonizing AFO—he could surely dig up much worse memories, if that were the aim! If anything, the memories he chose gave more room for a nuanced AFO than the full story did!
Whatever I think of Yoichi's rhetoric, in any case, he certainly didn’t come off to me as some kind of closet pervert or underhanded groomer because he took the hand Deku had already extended towards him in a gesture of comfort and solidarity.
Apologies again if that's not what you meant in calling him weird, but please understand that these days that is the context I most frequently see people using “weird” to not-so-subtly imply.
#bnha#shigaraki yoichi#bnha ofa#no. 2 green#bnha afo#quirk metaphysics#let ofa be creepy!#does not mean make it weird#yoichi is a soldier in a multi-generational secret war talking to the inheritor of that battle#not a total stranger trying to recruit an uninvolved and oblivious child into a cult#i don't have much use for the guy as a person or as a character but at worst he's been made desperate by his circumstances#not made a rational choice to become a two-faced manipulator because he wants to make his brother to look bad#stillness answers

A lot of people are missing that this whole situation is basically Daemyra's midlife marriage crisis. Their honeymoon stage is over, shit hit the fan, things got real, things got heated, they had their first major fight, they split apart for some space (well Daemon did), and now they're seeking connection and support and intimacy from other people, because they're struggling terribly alone. Mysaria and Alys are those other people. However, the elephant in the room is that they desperately need to talk to each other and work out their problems, like everyone has been urging them to, but they've been avoiding doing so like it's the damn plague. They'd rather twist and untwist themselves into knots that admit they need each other. But make no mistake: they will reconcile, it's just going to take a minute.
#it's definitely going to be the last episode#because the writers like to see us suffer#but i've survived three divorces before#i'm a tough girl i can handle it#(lord you know i'm not your strongest soldier#please give your child some respite 😭🙏)#but clearly both my parents are struggling rn#people think it's just daemon and that rhaenyra couldn't care less about him anymore#but y'all are just projecting your indifference or dislike for him unto her#he clearly means a lot to her still otherwise she wouldn't be this bothered#they're just too stubborn to reconcile yet#daemyra#daemon x rhaenyra#rhaenyra x daemon#rhaenyra targaryen#daemon targaryen#house of the dragon#house of the dragon s2#hotd#hotd season 2

Atla live action 😐
#thats my honest reaction 😐#to be fair ive only seen 20 minutes of the s1 finale bc my parents are watching it but. mmmmm kinda mid#like. the casting is definitely an improvement since the last time they tried a live action but it feels like the writing falls flat#or maybe im being harsh bc ive only heard negative criticism on it beforehand. but fr anytime u bring up the original its already#good and not just because its the original. so much fucking detail went into it to the point of someone noticing azula wielding mai's knive#to how well thought out irohs character is used as a way of uniting the cast especially as zukos foil#i heard that sokkas sexism was toned down and i have to agree that feels like a cheap move. like i get WHY they think it would be better#but its not about how that reflects on real world its about how it affects the story. sokka starts out as a misogynistic asshole because#it makes it that much more impactful when he changes. toning that down makes it flatter and makes his character development weak#and someone pointed out they didnt even make him wear the kyoshi warrior uniform and i know it feels like such a small detail but#come on man. they did that in the original because not only does it help him really walk in their shoes - wearing 'feminine' clothing and#makeup and having suki explain its significance but it also ties in with the shows theme of harmony and intersectionality#i was also disappointed when they had the fire sages explain how the water tribe draws power from the moon because in the original it was#IROH who explained it to aang and everyone else BECAUSE we as the audience is under the impression hes with the 'bad guys'#and it builds up to how he learned from the other nations which reconciles his past as a war general and his character overall#AND its an excellent starting point for the cast and audience to understand how the nations arent as closed off as you would think#plus you would think its only fire nation doing propaganda but they expanded on that with earth kingdom censorship and it WORKS#a lot of things in the live action also feel arbitrary like. they gave momo a near death experience for 5 minutes for no reason#im firmly on the stance of bringing back filler moments instead of putting major events right after each other so that u give your#audience a sense of time passing and to really absorb the story. but i think thats more like shock value than filler and yeah its a small#thing to gripe about but those things build up and its really annoying. the thing abt avatar filler moments is that however small#its at least meaningful. hell even the beach episode emphasizes how isolated zuko and his friends are as child soldiers#i also swore to never watch the first live action since it was that bad but i really liked the stylized tattoos they used for aang#anyway. those arejust my thoughts. im not gonna watch the rest because im a ride or die for the original aftr growing up and#rewatching it at least 20 times as a kid. but theres definitely room for improvement and i wish ppl wouldnt take it as 'better' just cuz#netflix is adapting it. i wouldve killed for them to just reanimate the entire avatar series and touch NOTHING ELSE no redub#no changes to the story. just reanimate the thing and leave the rest alone and youd make easy money just the same#ALSO its very jarring not hearing jack desena and dante basco voicing sokka and zuko cause their voices were the most recognizable to me#i get that its because its live action but im allowed to feel a little sad abt that. and uncle irohs accent was really soothing#yapping

au in where about halfway through the war the soldier says “fuck this” and instead takes yosano with him and runs away from the war.
and when he gets back home and he finds that while he’s been presumed dead, his family’s been treating his little brother like shit, so he takes him with him too.

people on tiktok well on all social media sites actually will loudly critique the fact some people (especially those who only watched the movies) “didn’t get the point of the hunger games” and then turn around and say gale is the worst person in the universe and treat him like he’s a monster, and that all these traits are innate characteristics completely isolated from the circumstances in which he lived and the people around him. like girlie i think maybe YOU didn’t get the point here either.
#obviously this isn’t to say you need to or were “supposed to” like gale#there are a lot of good reasons to criticize him. esp wrt his sense of entitlement to katniss.#but he’s not supposed to be a Villain™️#like he’s a poor traumatized (brown coded) boy whose very valid anger was used to groom him into a perfect soldier.#kind of almost like it’s a critique on the militarization of young boys. esp those who are underprivileged.#which doesn’t excuse his actions & it doesn’t mean you have to like him#but it’s enraging when people act like he is a heartless monster who is unredeemable or whatever. like. oh that’s not….#bonus points if they babygirlify cato and clove (and marvel and glimmer) and cry about how they’re just kids#+ “they were only the way they are bc of the capitol 🥺”.#like yes it’s a big point that they were kids groomed to be child soldiers because the capitol pressured and “rewarded” career districts#to churn out child soldiers and whatnot. but that. ok.#truly just how do you hold the belief that to an extent excuses them or at least makes them sympathetic—#—but then not extend that empathy to gale. side eye.#esp bc a lot of the stuff is taking potshots at gale to uplift peeta/everlark.#like. uh! okay!#obligatory disclaimer i don’t actually like gale. however i am at my limit on weird and bad and inconsistent takes on him.#yeah he sucks. almost like that’s because he was horrifically oppressed by the captiol + then was groomed to be the ideal soldier by coin.#crazy how that’s the point.#and AGAIN. doesn’t EXCUSE what he does. but it’s important to acknowledge bc it v much contextualizes who and what he is and does.#the hunger games#gale hawthorne#i don’t think i need to tag this in the anti tag but lmk

something something if Ethan lived he and Alabaster would have the same arc in different directions
#Ethan going into the army being stoic and basically just a child soldier for his mother and losing the war was the best thing for him#because it meant that he could finally discover himself without needing to be useful for anyone#he could finally discover what happiness and love truly meant to him#whereas Alabaster went into the army as a happy teen who thought he could change the world#And losing the war was the worst thing that ever happened to him because he lost everything in a single day#causing him to become stoic sad and only having little glimpses of his former happy self#god Ethabaster being a mirror of each other is my favorute thing#ethan nakamura#alabaster torrington#alabaster c torrington#ethabaster

me looking at every crumb the yaoi has dropped thus far for my own headcanons and stories:
#captain laserhawk#captain laserhawk spoilers#rambles#Dolph being a child soldier is so deliciously angsty on its own#But it’s gonna be so fun to explore in my road trip au#Because my HC is (for now) that Bullfrog was in a very bad place before becoming a member of the assassins creed#So it be a fun contrast once I actually do something with this au#I kinda felt bad I paused my au to plan it out instead of just going for it#But maybe it’s good i did that because now I get to use the yaoi as reference
