For the whole dottore basically adopting the reader, what would he do if reader got sick? And would reader call him dad, dottore or zandik?
Dadtore with his sick child
── ୨୧:il dottore & reader
୨୧﹑synopsis :: more dadtore but with germs this time (the first germs)
୨୧﹑genre :: fluff
୨୧﹑content :: gn reader, child reader, not proofread, also written at one am I'll edit in the morning 😭
୨୧﹑words :: 700
originally this was gonna be another ramble but I was like this could be cute let's write it. as for the name I actually have no idea largely because when I wrote child reader last time I wrote them intentionally without dialogue so I actually didn't even consider it but Dad feels like a very down the road choice
Zandik feels more familiar than Dottore but whether he'd want a kid running around calling him that to everyone is a different question. I think there's a definite Dottore to Dad pipeline
Perhaps you managed, no thanks to your infinite curiosity, to get into the things he'd tried to keep you from. Dottore thought he'd done everything he could possibly do, but children find a way. When you wake up in the middle of the night to him still up and about, he's surprised to find you look barely awake, unsurprising on its own, but you are unsteady and warm to the touch.
That's not good. You've never been sick before. Dottore pauses, hand practically glued to you as he tries to think of what to do. Should he run you a cold bath? Maybe he should leave you or warm you up more so that you can sweat it out easily. He's not even sure what's wrong with you yet.
You're sleepy, it seems, as you're passed out in Dottore's arms before he can even carry you back to your makeshift bed, breath softening against his skin as your head rests on his shoulder. It's such a natural way for you to settle by now, even after only a few months, that Dottore waits to let go. You feel too warm, too fragile. It is the polar opposite of how cold you were when he found you.
He sets you back in your spot on the couch and wraps your blankets tightly around you. Your face is flushed, and you still look far too addled.
Rest and a lot to drink are enough, but they certainly don't feel like enough as Dottore stares down at you, all curled up amongst your blankets. More than ever, you look like a pathetic newborn kitten stumbling about and too small to do anything but sleep and blink with great effort. It's all in an endearing way. Dottore can't have you dying on him, especially not to a fever, but there's little he can actually do to help you and little that says he should be. Fevers are the kind of thing you have to sweat out, often because they're fighting something else. Dottore knows that well.
"Did you touch anything you weren't supposed to?" he asks. Dottore doesn't recall a time at which you went poking around with a dedication to finding anything or that you didn't cut it out the moment he scolded you.
You slowly shake your head as you register his question. It reassures him, seeing as he can't find a reason to doubt that. You've had very few problems with honesty before today. You're trustworthy enough not to interrogate you.
"Then you got it from someone else," he concludes. "You're not uncomfortable?"
Again, you shake your head once the question sets in. That's the best you'll get as you are. Whatever this fever is trying to fight off is not something you found in a petri dish and probably came from your disagreeable habit of being far too welcoming to strangers in the lab. If nothing else, he can find comfort in the fact he won't spend the next few hours worrying if you've contracted a deadly disease or greatly repel properties of the abyss. You're still very safe right here where he's able to watch over you.
Dottore takes a moment to lay you down, a vaguely tender show of practically pushing you over as you've dozed off to sleep again in the time it takes him to act. Dottore collects the mess of blankets around you and pulls them over you, opting to keep you from getting cold unless you get worse or throw them off in your sleep. He finds his overcoat bunched at your feet and drapes that on top of the blankets too, your favourite item of comfort and what keeps you most warm.
Dottore sits beside you in the tiny space between your feet and the edge of the couch. There is just enough room for him. His hand rests against your leg as he waits, watching your chest rise and fall in a steady rhythm. He is pleased to see you sleep well despite the circumstances.
That coat had once been wrapped around you, cold and shivering, and it engulfed you with fabric to spare. Dottore doesn't mind sharing it with you now.

Imagine how funny and at the same time disturbing it'd be for Eggman to talk to other parents about his daughter and compare them to their kids, going by his official mindset and reasonings in accepting Sage as being like a daughter to him
Just Eggman coming up to other parents and judging them and bragging like:
"Your child was created and conceived naturally? Bleurgh that's so gross and easy and boring, you're not special, anyone can do that shit. Mine is way more impressive, made up of brilliant science with code and electrons! Your child has germs and gross bodily fluids and can get sick and die like my 12 year old cousin Maria did? And has the actual intelligence and behavior of an actual baby/toddler and are so dumb unlike my artificial intelligence daughter? Lol that's so LAME. Your children are a nuisance and keep you awake at night? I can just shut mine down and bam I'm child free haha. My child is so smart and loyal and efficient and it's because I'm such a GENIUS!!! She works for me and does her job very well, she protects me from deadly hazards, she blew up helicopters with the swipe of her hand! She sacrificed herself to save me and the world I'm going to rule once! Your child could NEVER and it's because you and your child are nowhere near as great as me and my genius creations!"
And on the subject of getting children toys, he'd just talk about stuff like wanting to turn Sonic and co into robots to give to Sage as toys for her to learn to treat others as toys, mere playthings to play with and break. And on the subject of parents taking children on trips, he'd say that if he took her to places like Disneyland, he'd just be saying that the park is so boring and lame compared to his awesome exciting dangerous deadly parks created to kill people the whole time to get her to learn what a real great theme park is. And that it's not fun if people aren't suffering and dying because that's what puts the amusement in an amusement park!
And all the other parents would be deeply disturbed and freaked out like what the actual fuck is wrong with this man please get him away from me. Which everyone ever does immediately by default in his world because duh it's the fucking infamous Eggman but they just found a bunch more reasons to add to the millions ahdjfjsbglsbfksh he's fucking crazy I love him. Do you understand now why it's unsettling like Ian Flynn said the Eggman and Sage dynamic is meant to be, as this is based on exact things Eggman said in the game lol

Every time i think about the still ongoing pandemic i get incredibly angry.
we could've put a stop to this in 2020 if we just let the wheels of capitalism grind to a halt for a month or two, but no, god fucking forbid we stop endlessly toiling away for someone else's profit for even a second.
Capitalism and The Basics Of Germ Theory came into conflict with eachother and capitalism fucking won, and now we're going backwards on our common understanding as a society of microbes, people are refusing to wear masks even for things that aren't deadly diseases because it got turned into a fucking culture war issue for some reason.
We all knew what to do, we all knew exactly how to stop the spread of a virulent disease thanks to a thousand years of science and research and understanding history, and we just didn't fucking do it because some rich assholes wouldn't've made quite as much money as they would've if we just died.
Thousands died, thousands are still dying, and thousands more have been disabled, and thousands more will be disabled, and this was preventable, this was so fucking preventable and i will never not be angry about it.
Staying home and not getting a haircut and not going out drinking with your friends for a few weeks was too Traumatic, and compensating people for the time they'd have to take off work would've cost the government Too Much Money, and wearing a fucking piece of cloth over your face was too Uncomfortable, and vaccines are giving your kids autism and turning the frogs gay,
and now there's a million fucking variants and even if you get vaccinated for one it still won't help with any of the others, and you people are still going out to coffee shops and bars and stadiums and concerts and swapping this disease around like it's a fucking trading card, and people are dying at a higher rate than ever and it's not even news anymore, and just
fine.
you assholes all win, all of you!
the bare minimum i can do to keep myself and others safe isn't even that effective anymore, because no one else is fucking doing it, i might as well start licking toilet seats and not even wash my hands afterwards for all society at large cares,
so everything is worse now for everyone, and we're never fixing this because you people just don't *want* to fix it, and at this point it's so entrenched that fixing it would take far more effort than preventing it ever would and even *that* was too much for you people
so you win.
the virus is here to stay, and people are going to keep getting sick, and it's going to keep tearing their bodies apart, and there's just nothing any of us can do about it because it's just the new normal.
and just ignoring it is easier than wearing a mask out in public, and getting your booster shots every couple of months, and avoiding crowds of people, and keeping your distance, and installing the proper ventilation equipment, and providing your employees with the proper ppe, and learning to live with an airborne pathogen in a way that isn't obviously stupid and dangerous,
everything is worse and we're not fixing it,
is this what you wanted? are you happy about this?

I was at the airport for 4 hrs with a mask on (with exception to when I ate dinner where I sat 6 feet away from everyone) then boarded a 3.5 hour flight in between 2 strangers with my mask on the entire time.
Just so I could visit my family, not bring any diseases to the kids, then go home and not bring anything to my friends back home.
If you can't wear a mask for 5 minutes while grocery shopping, then you're pathetic. Period.
(Not to mention people with CF a congenital disorder that causes mucus buildup on the lungs that will never be able to be cleared fully have to deal with wearing a mask for longer when they're at the hospital due to how deadly a simple cold can be for them. So I don't want to hear any of this "I can't breath" bullshit.)
Wear your goddamn mask. Bonus points I was sneezing up a storm because the cold weather makes me nose runny and no one was giving worried looks because I had my goddamn nose and mouth covered so my germs stayed to me.
-fae
weirdest side effect of the pandemic is how many people i know who get sick and say 'but my covid tests are negative so i should be fine' like you know other illnesses. exist. right.

We'll be talking about "Why Childhood Immunizations Are Important" in greater depth in the following post, so let's get to it! As a new parent, you may feel overwhelmed by the prospect of immunizations and childhood vaccines. Vaccine schedules are actually advised by authorities as well as organisations, just as the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as the American Academy of Family Physicians, which cover roughly 14 distinct sorts of diseases.
Vaccinations not only protect your youngster against deadly diseases, like tetanus, polio as well as diphtheria, but they even keep other kids safe by actually eradicating or drastically decreasing harmful diseases that used to travel from one kid to another.
A vaccination is actually a dead, or weakened version, or perhaps a component of the germ that causes the disease in question. When kids are actually exposed to a disease in vaccine form, their immune system, which is none other than the body’s germ-fighting powerhouse, is actually able to build up antibodies that prevent them from genuinely catching the disease if and when they are actually exposed to the real disease.
Over the years, vaccines have really produced considerable discussion over safety, however, no solid proof of harm has actually been uncovered. And although children can have a reaction to any vaccine, the crucial thing to understand and grasp is that the advantages of immunizations much outweigh the possible negative effects.
Monitoring Vaccination Status.
Studies suggest that roughly one-fourth of preschool-aged children are missing at least one standard vaccination, despite the fact that the majority of parents and doctors do an excellent job of maintaining or keeping up with immunizations. Your child will not be able to attend school in most states without a complete immunisation record. When a baby is ill, doctors might forget to give them a shot. It is critical to catch up on vaccines that were missed for any reason.
Most vaccines can be given at a later date to catch up if your child missed a previous one. All of your previous vaccinations are still effective. The vaccine regimen will simply be resumed by your doctor. Also, don't worry too much if your child needs to get more than the recommended number of doses of vaccination at once.
Exactly How Many Shots Should Kids Get
It is still a lengthy list, even after combining vaccines to reduce the number of shots. A typical vaccine schedule by age 2 is provided below.
Just one shot protects against measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR)
Four doses of the Haemophilus influenza type b vaccine to prevent meningitis and other complications of the common cold.
Polio immunizations three to four times (IPV)
Diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis immunizations total four (DPT)
Three hepatitis B vaccines
If your child does not get chickenpox on his or her own, he or she should get one varicella (chickenpox) immunisation around the age of 12 months at the earliest.
Three doses of the vaccine against rotavirus, an infectious agent that frequently results in debilitating diarrhoea.
Four doses of a vaccine against pneumococcal illness, which can cause ear infections and pneumonia.
Your child will require booster doses for DPT, IPV, MMR, and chickenpox between the ages 4 and 6.
Every year after the age of 6 months, children should have a flu shot. As a matter of fact, preventing hepatitis A with the vaccine is strongly encouraged for all kids. An immunisation records form is necessary because there is a lot to record.
Conclusions Regarding Vaccinations
Remember this in order to make vaccines for your child easier:
Immunizations frequently cause redness, pain, and fever at the injection site. Talk to your doctor about these potential negative effects and find out what signs need a visit.
Inquire if your doctor's office is a part of a register that tracks immunizations. In the event that you lose your immunisation paperwork, you can quickly and easily access this resource.
Find out if your doctor's office has a system in place to notify patients about immunizations. This type of system will contact you via phone to remind you of upcoming vaccines and to sound an alarm if any of them have been forgotten.
Don't forget to bring your child's immunisation record to every doctor's appointment, and get a signature and date from the doctor for each immunisation your child receives.
Vaccines are among the safest, finest, and most effective medications available; thanks to them, several once-common but now-rare paediatric illnesses have been eradicated

New, Dangerous, Pests
In Nature there is something called hybrid vigor. This means when you take one plant, microbe, animal, fish, or insect from one place and cross breed it with another plant, microbe, animal, fish, or insect it gains strengths that were either not apparent before or developed because of the mixing of genes. Similarly, when you take something from one location and move it to another location, the lack of competition in the new environment allows it to dominate and run unchecked.
All over the world, one of the greatest dangers to environmental conservation is this form of unchecked cross-breeding or transplanting vigor. We all now Purple Loosestrife, which is a lovely looking plant, now choking out indigenous species of marsh plants, changing the feeding and breeding habits of insects. The red squirrel came from Europe just as our gray squirrel went there (and is considered vermin pest). Plants in your garden, imported as decorative enhancements, have spread as weeds, and are choking out indigenous plants everywhere (Ireland has put the Himalayan Rhododendron on the “most wanted” list).
You may remember what happened when the African bee was cross bred with the South American bee to improve that bee’s pollen gathering capability, only to result in “killer bees” swarming and actually killing adults and kids as they spread past the Amazon, up through Mexico and into Texas.
Another insect has joined the ranks of “killer” invaders, in Australia. A small ant from South America was inadvertently released, has spread rapidly and because of its practice of community defense, has few enemies that survive its attacks. The conditions in the jungles of the Amazon are so severe, these little ants have evolved a poisonous bite coupled with a gang warfare in which one ant can summon thousands to its defense all with poisonous mandibles. So deadly is this insect, that the Australian government has posted rewards for its destruction in Queensland.
The same accidental importation happens with germs as well. We all know about Covid. But did you know that a Foot & Mouth outbreak in Britain happened because a pig came from Vietnam? Such accidents happen all the time, and all local immune systems, pesticides, and even vaccines are not effective, until adapted.
We live on this planet together, microbes, humans, flora, and fauna. We have to get along in our own specialized environments and when we have the opportunity to visit other environments or have flora or fauna from these foreign places visit us, we need to be respectful of the powers of Nature, the ability for hybrid and transplanting vigor to make our lives better and worse. Either way, in the end, one microbe, one plant, one ant taken out of its environment and placed in your backyard will irrevocably change the world you live in daily. Sometimes it is for the better and we are happier with daffodils and tulips, chickens and pigs, coconuts, and pineapple. Sometimes, it is better to keep our defenses up.

Do you know, however, that many diseases and viruses can survive on things for days or weeks? The carpeted floor brings up small pollutants into the air every moment you step through it. Dust particles can become stuck deep inside the fabrics, making it challenging to clean with standard machines. We all adore our pets, but what are we doing to protect them from this virus? With the help of our ground-breaking cleaning services, you can prevent them from all viruses. Well! We do not use any fragrances. So, don't waste your time now anymore.

TLDR:
Our orphanage has, as of 4/12/22, two days to raise $730, or their water purifier, their only source of safe drinking and bathing water will be taken. Without the purifier, they will have no way of getting clean water, as they can not afford to buy bottles. The unpurified water will expose the orphans to deadly illnesses, germs, and bacteria. This could quite literally cost lives.
I sent everything I had, but am unfortunately in the middle of getting evicted, and also now have multiple sclerosis that may be paralyzing me and can't work a job to help support them. Please, reblog. Send this to your friends, or any blog that will care. I have a template for messages and instructions on how to find helpful people here. (coming soon!!) (I'm also working on an about God Provides post to direct people to.)
If every one of my followers donated $1 , we'd be two thirds of the way there, already! Please, I'd you have anything at all to spare, it can make the difference between these kids sickness and healrh. There's proof of all of my history with the orphanage on my blog if you search up Yazid.
Now, if you have the time, please read this entire post to understand their story. I am asking sincerely, because this story deserves to be heard! This is a story of people who even in the most dire situations have cared about my illnesses, who have fought through so much because their hearts are genuinely full of love for their fellow humans. And these people are in trouble. They need our help to survive.
Working here has changed my world, and I think Yazid is changing the world all around him. Proof of all of this is in my blog, just search Yazid in it.
Hello everyone! My name is Maddie (Madison McClain if we're being fancy) and I've been working for the past year fundraising for the orphanage run by my best friend, Yazid, called God Provides Orphanage! It's located in Buguri, Uganda. We met by chance, and became instant friends. Now, I consider him family, along with all of the members of Team God Provides. Although this is a Christian orphanage, we're all from different backgrounds, and faiths, and that is all accepted.
Yazid is truly the most amazing person I've ever met. Even in his worst situations, and even in grave danger, he'll take the time to care about my medical issues first, and tell me to rest even when I know he could use my help. His mission in operating God Provides orphanage is to provide kids with a sense of hope, unconditional love, and faith in their futures. He's taken care of families, orphans, sick children with parents who couldn't afford their medicine, anyone he kind find. He's helped so many people, and saved so many lives. And he's been my best friend for a year now.
Unfortunately, Yazid and the orphanage have fallen into a string of tragedies that have made things for them very difficult.
First, one of the orphans, a preteen girl, almost died from starvation. Fortunately, I had the money at the time to pay for her treatment with metabolic salts, and she was okay!! I was beyond relieved when I heard she survived, I cried in my friend's car the whole way home.
Yazid has a tendency to overwork himself...even to the point of illness. And so recently, he was hospital for acute renal failure, and came serious close to dying. This is something my mother almost passed from a few years back, and it's only by a miracle that she survived. Yazid never shows fear, so when he began talking about what to do if he lost his life, I knew he must be seriously struggling. But luckily, with the help of people here, he got out alive, and was able to get all the treatment he needed to survive!
Then, upon returning home, he found that the kids had used the food and supplies improperly, as their temporary guardians were not used to how to ration and use them. The children had not eaten in days, and he was terrified. Luckily, again, through help from your kindness, the kids were able to eat, and Yazid was able to pay past due rent.
But then, just the other day, only days after getting out of the hospital, Yazid was attacked and beaten. Their water purifier, their only source of safe water, broke down recently, and these people were hired to fix it. However, they are now demanding the balance owed, and as of 4/12/22, we only have two days (including today) to pay them the balance before they come and remove the water purifier.
This could cost children's lives. Without safe drinking and bathing water, they are exposed to deadly illnesses, germs, and ameobas. All of which could sadly VERY EASILY kill a child.
Please, we NEED your help. You truly can make the difference between sickness and health in these kids. Please, spread this post. Message it to blogs you think seem kind. Put it in your discord servers. Put it in your Instagram bio and advertise it on your story. Anything. It would mean so much. And if you want to help more, consider joining our volunteer discord! We also count it as work experience, so if you need a reference for your resume, consider helping us and gaining some skills and experience you can list on it! Seriously, this work is what got me hired on the spot for my first job. It's a big help!

JW.CC.2022. Day 1.
‘Ok, everything will be fine; you will not get eaten by a dinosaur, you will make friends, you will not run out of hand sanitizer and you will not catch a deadly disease.’ Ben Pincus mentally repeated to himself as he leaned over a trash can.
‘You will, however, get terribly seasick.’
He sat up and checked his watch, only 30 minutes in and he had already lost his breakfast. ‘Nice going Pincus.’
Ben didn’t even want to go to this camp, he was perfectly fine reading in his nice germ free, dinosaur free, bully free room. But did his mom ever listen to him? Care about what he wants? No! She was to busy working on dinosaur island to listen. And, of course, now that he was finally going she was working on the mainland.
And his dad was never around, his job as a construction worker took him all over the country, while Ben stayed home with Grandma Pincus. But at least on the rare occasions he did get to hang out with his dad, they usually blew stuff up for work, or on the fourth of July, or at Christmas because why not? And Grandma liked to read with him, while they had their carop juice parties because it was healthier than tea.
‘Oh well,’ he thought, ‘it’s only for a week. I can handle that.’ He slowly raised his head and took a look around; kids as well as adults were yelling and laughing, some played games, one kid in a yellow jacket was reading a book with some kind of dinosaur on the cover.
‘Oh, that reminds me,’ he pulled a brochure he picked up at the station out. Ben flipped through it, tons of fun things to do on the island but what interested him was the last page entitled: “Jurassic World: Evacuation Plan.”
‘You never know, could come in handy to know.’ He thought as some egg came to his mouth, ‘if I don’t puke all over it first.
. . .
‘Ok, that is seriously nasty,’ thought Yazmina Fadoula as she saw some poor kid with his head in a trash can. Just over half an hour into her journey, and this was the third person she’d seen barfing. ‘It’s just for another hour, and then I’ll be away from all that.’
The boat was crowded from bow to stern, barely enough room to move, probably exceeding maximum capacity limits, but she didn’t care. Yaz found an empty seat, thankfully on the end of a row, and pulled out her sketchbook.
It was new, her mom had gotten it for her so she could sketch her adventures as they came. Along with new pencils, a sharpener and, may she never need them, mechanical pencils.
Her mom was such a wonderful person, Yaz’s hero, really; A single mother who always found time for Yaz’s track meets, whether they were downtown or across the country. She loved to play games with Yaz, especially poker on rainy days.
Truly an inspiration!
Yaz knew she would miss her the second Jurassic World invited her to camp, but she couldn’t lose the sponsorship, and her mom deserved some girl time without her.
Before she knew it, she looked down to see a perfect picture of her mother had appeared on the page. Well. . . not perfect, no paper could capture her true beauty. But it was good enough for now.
“I miss you, mom,” she whispered to the paper. Then, she turned the page to begin drawing the boat. She knew her mom would love it.
. . .
“What up Brooklanders? Brooklyn here showing you the best of the Jurassic World ferry!” The camera panned over a mixed crowd of people: Some excited, leaning over the edge of the railing, some nervous, fiddling their thumbs and others playing on their phones. One girl was even drawing in a book!
The recording showed the staircase to the top deck, the bathroom entrance, and a spectacular view of the ocean. Brooklyn’s voice narrated the whole thing. “That’s all for now folks,” it finished, “I’ll show you the island when I arrive in about an hour!”
It was posted about half an hour ago, and already had thousands of views and likes. Tons of comments saying how lucky she was and to have fun and recommending things she had to do while there; Like riding a triceratops, or eating at the muffin shop.
But Brooklyn wasn’t looking at that. She was focused on the 107 dislikes, and the nasty comments saying ‘Great! Now I know where the ferry bathroom is… on the ferry! Who would’ve guessed?’ And ‘Let me know when you see the dinos! That's the only good thing about this channel!’ and so on.
Other commenters jumped to her defense, starting comment wars, but Brooklyn didn’t care. She only cared about proving these guys wrong in her own way.
Brooklyn sighed, she wished her parents were here, either of them. Usually, when she goes on a vlogging trip, one of them comes with her. And even if they didn't do the hike, climb the glacier or punch the shark, they were always there afterwards; Waiting to hug and congratulate her, to tell her how good she did and that those negative posters were just jealous jerks.
But when the park invited her to camp, she knew they couldn’t come. But she didn’t want to turn down the offer, they were a major sponsorship that she didn’t want to risk losing. Besides, this was her chance to prove she wasn’t a baby who needed her parents every time someone hurts her feelings.
And anyways, it was only for a week, she could text or call them at any time during her time at camp. She’d be fine.
. . .
‘Arrive at camp, make friends, steal some samples, maybe get a tan. Yep, pretty normal vacation,' thought Sammy Gutierrez as she paced the lower deck of the Jurassic World Ferry.
She stopped when she noticed a girl with pink hair taking a video. Not the first one she’s seen filming, but she thought she recognized the girl for some reason.
‘Get a grip, Sammy Girl,’ her sister Sue's voice rang out in her head. Not in a mean tone, but in a nice, calling one like she usually used when calming her or an animal down.
‘Yeah, just because you lied to mom and dad, and now you have to save our farm from a greedy corporation line in a movie, doesn’t mean you can’t have fun.’ It was her brother, Johna’s voice this time.
‘Oh, knock it off Johna!’ Sue’s voice cut in.
‘Just sayin.’
‘No, he’s right Sue!’ Sammy’s thoughts cut in. ‘I did lie, and now this is all on me!’ Sammy knew it really was her fault when her mind couldn’t come up with a rebuttal in anyone's voice.
She did it to save her family's ranch, their livelihood, but at what cost? They told her not to take the offer, it wouldn’t matter to Jurassic World if she went or not, but it meant everything to manta corp. . . .
And her family.
She loved her family more than anything in the world, and she would do anything for them. Even risk her life for them. Even if they hated her for it.
Sammy knew she’d miss mom’s pies, and dad’s steaks. Sue yelling at the game on Sunday and Johna’s snarky remarks. Even gran’s badgering about when she would get married, even though it wasn’t the 1950s’ any more and she was only 14-years-old.
‘It’s only for a week,’ she thought as she began pacing again. ‘I can manage a week. I've done it before at camp Kikiwaka.’
‘But never with this much pressure on your shoulders.’ This time, it was her own voice with the treacherous thought.
. . .
‘Almost there dad, almost there,’ Darius Bowman thought as he rubbed his raptor tooth necklace.
The ferry ride was an estimated hour and a half there and 2 hours back, less with good currents. It had already been an hour and 20 minutes since leaving Costa Rica, so any time now.
Soon an announcement came over the speaker: “Welcome Dino Lovers!” A cheerful voice rang out, “We will be arriving in about 15 minutes. You will soon be able to see the island Isla Nublar from the front of the ferry. We hope you have a Jurassic time!”
Darius jumped up from his seat, he stuck his book on dinosaurs under his arm and ran to the railing on the top deck. He was lucky to get a spot before they were all taken. ‘Almost there, dad,’ he thought for the millionth time since he won his trip.
If only his dad could see him now. . . but alas, he had lost his battle to cancer months ago. He never even knew Darius had won a trip to the magnificent, dino filled island.
Darius had taken the loss pretty hard, but he still had his mom and brother, Brandon, to help him through it. He loved his mom, never doubt that, but his dad was the one who got him into dinosaurs. The one who came up with dino puns whenever he could. Who surprised him with dino toys, movies and books when he was little.
Dinosaurs were just their thing, like gaming was Brandon and Darius’s thing, if that made sense.
He looked down to see a girl in a black leather jacket pacing the lower deck. ‘Must be excited,’ Darius thought, ‘after all, who would be nervous to go to Jurassic world?’
. . .
The noise was so loud in the helicopter, Kenji could barely hear his own thoughts. Not that he had much to think about: He was spending the week at Jurassic World in some camp. When that was over, he’d probably spend a few weeks in the penthouse before heading home.
‘Maybe I’ll see dad. . .’
“Mhh.” He scoffed at the thought. ‘As if! I haven’t seen him since Chrismass, and only for like 2 minutes. Not that it matters!’ He sighed, ‘but it would be nice to hear his voice once in a while.’
His dad didn’t even tell him about camp; One of his butlers told him three days ago casually, like it was no big deal. He tried to call him for more details, but his assistant wouldn't let Kenji through. He tried to call Candy, his dad’s girlfriend, but she too didn’t answer. His mom and dad split up years ago, and he hadn’t seen her since ThanksGiving, so no way did she know anything.
He didn’t know anything about the other campers, other than they must be rich and powerful to have gotten here. They probably came in their own choppers, or private yachts. . . they probably got to see their parents more than once a year. . .
He felt the helicopter start to descend, not in the usual place, but that made sense since it wasn’t a normal trip to the island. “Thanks Jake!” He yelled, trying to be polite, but he got no reply. ‘Probably couldn’t hear me,’ Kenji thought as another worker opened the door for him.
He put his sunglasses on, despite not facing the sun, and looked at the group; A girl with pink hair, one with a black leather jacket, another in a gray jumpsuit, a boy with his head in the trash can and the other with an excited face.
‘It’s only for a week, Kenji, you can do this,’ he thought to himself as he walked to join the group.
. . .
If you made it this far, thank you and I hope you enjoyed. I know day 1 was First Day At Camp, but I thought showing what the ride was like for everyone would just as good. And no, I don't know Sammy's Sister's name or if she has a brother. And I made a lot of stuff up based on what the campers say about about their home life. Also, this is my first post so go easy on me, and yes, I do over think everything. Hope you enjoyed!

TOS Crew-Phobias
Been thinking about And The Children Shall Lead and how the kids play on everyone’s inner Beast, and trying to decipher what fears each crew member may have based on what the children made them do and see.
The asterisk means it’s either an approximation because their fear is too specific, or if they had this fear they’ve since developed means of coping
James Kirk: Autophobia
Autophobia: Fear of being alone
I feel like this one’s pretty obvious. People tend to make the argument that the Enterprise (the ship itself) is Kirk’s overpowering true love, but I don’t think that’s it. It’s more the friends and the life that he’s made within The Enterprise that he’s terrified of losing. Some of the places we see Jim at his most upset and afraid in the series are when he feels he’s been abandoned or is forcibly (and seemingly permanently) separated from the crew. How visibly upset he is on the empty Enterprise in This Side of Paradise and The Mark of Gideon, lashing out at Spock when the crew reluctantly relieves him of duty in The Deadly Years, and his deep resentment toward Deela when she kidnaps him in Wink of An Eye. This is also further reinforced by his actions in Star Trek: The Motion Picture & The Search for Spock. He’s also one of the two characters (the other being Sulu) where his fear counts as an actual phobia and not a hypothetical phobia, ingrained personality trait, or symptom of Neurodivergence.
S’chn T’gai Spock: *OCD (fear of losing control)
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Obsessive thoughts that lead to repetitive actions.
If anything what we might perceive as OCD-like (or at least Neurodivergent) behavior may be typical of the Vulcan condition. I don’t think Spock has OCD, or at least I don’t know enough about it to say for sure, but what came up whenever I looked up “fear of hurting others/losing control” it came up without fail. While we don’t actually get to see whatever is making Spock’s hand tremble, momentarily defy orders and act as though everything is fine. I think we can surmise that his Beast convinced him that following the order would somehow hurt Jim or that he would be possessed/controlled to do so. Operation: Annihilate, Amok Time, Plato’s Stepchildren and essentially Spock’s whole character arc prove this to be true.
Bones: *Hyper-Empathy/Thanatophobia
Thanatophobia: Fear of death, dying, watching others die and/or others watching you die
There is a headcanon that Dr. McCoy is autistic with the hyper-empathy symptom, meaning he has a really hard time watching others suffer. This may have been the reason he became a doctor in the first place, or became worse/was triggered by his father’s death. While not technically a phobia and we don’t see Bones face his Beast in ATCSL. Evidence from other episodes supports this, Miri, Metamorphosis, Plato’s Stepchildren, The Empath, and For The World is Hollow & I Have Touched The Sky all heavily support this.
Scotty-Astrophobia
Astrophobia: Fear of getting lost or dying in space
Seems like kind of a ridiculous fear for someone who builds, maintains, and lives starships to have right? Maybe, but if that is something he’s deeply afraid of, it would make his surpassing ability to make certain the ship doesn’t explode despite impossible odds make plenty of sense. I don’t think it’s space itself that freaks Scotty out, it’s the idea of being stuck out there and/or suffering the cold and grizzly death that is getting sucked out into space does. So he does everything in his power to ensure that never happens. Out of all the supporting characters, the events of the episode that sparked this post aside, Scotty seems to have the best handle on his fear, the most condemning evidence that he’s got Astrophobia occurs later in season 3. He freezes up in the Jeffrey’s Tube during delicate work in That Which Survives. As well as telling his love interest that being bone deep afraid that you’re going to die in the cold vacuum of space is a perfectly normal thing to constantly think about in Lights of Zetar. Still, he is uncommonly steely-eyed and level headed whenever he has the con, even in the face of his fear. I used to theorize that maybe he was afraid of failure/imperfection, but Scotty’s Jerry-Rigs and Duct-tape way of doing things doesn’t lend itself to that idea. What stuck out to me was his comment “we’ll all be lost, forever lost!” in And The Children Shall Lead that made me think Astrophobia would be a good fit.
Nyota Uhura-Nosophobia
Nosophobia: Fear of contracting deadly disease
Uhura’s fear seems to be dying a slow and painful death by disease, one where she is irrevocably physically/mentally altered by her suffering. There’s evidence for this when she sees the appeal of immortality in I, Mudd, and that she’s scared she’ll end up like Chekov in The Tholian Web. Nosophobia is not hypochondria (convincing yourself that you have a disease/compulsively self-diagnosing) or germaphobia (extreme fear of germs and sickness). Nosophobia is more long term, an irrational fear of things like cancer and Alzheimer’s and other such conditions as well as potentially deadly viruses. It seems to me that if Uhura were to die she’d rather it be quick and painless rather than endure that sort of battle.
Hikaru Sulu-Cleithrophobia
Cleithrophobia: Fear of being trapped
Again, someone I thought maybe was afraid of failure (afraid of failing by destroying the ship with the swords in ATCSL) before I picked up on a very interesting pattern I noticed from The Corbomite Maneuver. Sulu gets really fatalistic and/or agitated when it seems like he’s trapped with no way out. He hyper fixates on the countdown when their trapped and condemned to destruction by Balok in The Corbomite Maneuver, he makes dark jokes while trapped and freezing to death on the planet from The Enemy Within. He seizes up instead of fleeing or fighting the Law Givers in Return if The Archons, and even panics a little when they’re trapped by the giant hand in Who Mourns For Adonais (and usually Sulu is insanely chill under pressure). Cleithrophobia gets confused with Claustrophobia often, but Celthrophobia has much more emphasis on the trapped and no way out elements than just enclosed spaces. So him being terrified by being unable to move because it’s surrounded by swords actually makes a lot of sense! Honestly, I find it uniquely fitting that a flyboy with an enthusiasm for growing things would be agitated by places that do not allow growth or flight.
Pavel Chekov-Proditophobia (in reverse)
Proditophobia: Fear of betrayal
Proditophobia is the fear of being betrayed, but there is more evidence to suggest that Pavel is waaaaay more terrified of betraying or being disloyal rather than being the victim of that action. There’s certainly evidence for it in both The Trouble with Tribbles and Day of The Dove, where he is driven to act out violently on the behalf of those he feels deep loyalty towards, in his head, allowing someone else’s reputation to be trashed counts as disloyalty. And The Children Shall Lead also shows us, at least at this point in Chekov’s character development, he feels more loyalty to Starfleet than the Enterprise crew (something that certainly changes/evolves by the time the movies roll around). The case might even have been that he was all bark and no bite and really wasn’t actually going to kill his Captain or mentor, he was just hoping they’d believe him so that they’d go peacefully and he wouldn’t have to worry about betraying Starfleet at all. I used to think maybe he feared punishment or retribution, but he’d never break any rules if that were the case, and if I know anything about this feral gremlin of an Ensign, he’ll do that in a split second if someone questions his loyalty.

“So cute,” whispered Y/N as she stroked Kiyoto’s hair. He had fallen asleep just as the game ended, lulled by the steady buzz of chatter and the sound of cheers. Y/N stayed in her seat, waiting for the stands to clear slightly before heading down to the court where Kiyoomi stood. He met her halfway, wrapping an arm around her waist to steady her. His lips pressed to the top of her head, squeezing her waist tightly.
“Sleeping?” asked Kiyoomi, brushing aside Kiyoto’s hair.
“He probably thinks volleyball is boring.”
“Or he’s three years old and tired from pre-school. Did you have fun at least?”
“I’m sleepy, too.”
“I saw you cheering for my service ace earlier,” said Kiyoomi.
“Tou-chan?” mumbled Kiyoto, turning his head in the direction of Kiyoomi’s voice. Y/N leveled a deadly glare at him, mouthing that he needed to be quieter, but the damage had already been done. Kiyoto lifted his head, blinking slowly, before thrusting his arms out towards Kiyoomi.
“I’m sweaty,” Kiyoomi warned, but he reached out and took Kiyoto from her anyway. “Was Kaa-chan mean to you?”
“Hmm.…I had school. I didn’t wanna go,” Kiyoto said, pressing his face into the side of Kiyoomi’s neck. His voice was muffled by the face mask he wore and often refused to take off in public. It was a habit that Y/N was glad he’d picked up from Kiyoomi. It made it easier to hide Kiyoto’s face in public and from paparazzi. Though it was well known that Kiyoomi had a child, they’d refrained from showing his face on social media.
“Did you wash your hands? Little kids have all kinds of germs,” said Kiyoomi. From the way he spoke, he made germs sound as if they were the plague. Kiyoto pushed his hands out and flipped them over, showing Kiyoomi just how clean they were.
“Kids are so dirty,” agreed Kiyoto, nodding his head solemnly. Y/N rolled her eyes, huffing slightly as she contemplated letting him know that he was a little kid too. Kiyoomi nodded, leaning down to whisper something only Kiyoto could hear. There was a certain anxiety in having a child and Kiyoomi had fumbled through it at first. When Kiyoto had first started walking, she was sure she’d be widowed as Kiyoomi seemed to suffer a heart attack with every tentative step that Kiyoto took. But, Kiyoomi had tackled fatherhood like he did everything else with dedication and care. She remembered how he used to wake up at night and take a few moments to go watch Kiyoto sleep. The sight of him resting peacefully, without a hint of worry or care, eased Kiyoomi’s fears.
Listening in on their current discussion, Y/N had to laugh. They were having a serious conversation about the puzzles at school with all the gravity scientists held discussing the solution to climate change. As they reached the bottom step, Kiyoto demanded to be put down, throwing his arms out enthusiastically towards Bokuto and Atsumu. It seemed that Hinata had disappeared sometime after the game, no doubt following Kageyama somewhere.
“You wanna play?” ask Y/N, narrowing her eyes at the two fools. Atsumu had missed a serve during the game and hit the ball right at the back of Bokuto’s head.
“Down,” commanded Kiyoto.
“Oi, Yoto-chan, did you see my line-shot? What’d you think?” asked Atsumu holding his hand out for a high-five. Kiyoto shrunk back, hid behind her leg, and shook his head wildly.
“Don’t touch,” he said. Y/N snorted and turned to Kiyoomi who wore a grin so satisfied, someone would have thought he’d been handed a billion dollars.
“Play,” said Kiyoto. He walked forward; head held high as he went to meet Bokuto near the net.
“He’s much more confident than I was as a child,” said Kiyoomi. He rested his head on her shoulder, breathing in the familiar floral scent of her perfume mixed with fabric softener. She thinks that the horror of childbirth had softened him, made him less hesitant to touch her even when there were people watching.
“Well, half of him is me,” said Y/N, smiling fondly. A look of intense concentration crossed Kiyoto’s face. There was such a solemnity to him as if everything he was doing required all his attention and care. It was something he shared with Kiyoomi. Y/N had not thought it was possible to love someone as much as she loved her son, but every day she would find something new that would cause her heart to grow threefold.
“Ojisan,” Kiyoto screamed, stomping his feet as Atsumu and Bokuto laughed at him. “Gross, gross, gross.” His hand was covered in a thin layer of Salonpas, the bottle hung in Atsumu’s hand.
“Did Ojisan make you cry?” Y/N asked Kiyoto. She dug around in her purse, pulling out a packet of wet wipes and set to clearing the snot and drool from his face in seconds. Wiping his hands free of the sticky substance, she entangled her fingers with Kiyoto’s muttering softly to him. In seconds, he had calmed down. His sobs faded into slight hiccups leaving Kiyoomi slightly stunned at the sudden turn of events.
“Why don’t we go sit and wait for Tou-chan to get ready?” Y/N said. Struggling with her bag for a moment, she looped it over her shoulder, heaving Kiyoto up into her arms. Despite how heavy he seemed, cheeks rounded with youth and one too many yakult, she gave little indication that she couldn’t bare his weight.
“Kiyoomi, don’t take too long,” she warned.
FUN FACTS:
Kiyoto can be written with several different kanji, but the ones Y/N and Kiyoomi used were for clean/pure and human.
Atsumu actually hates being called Ojisan because it reminds him that he’s getting old.
Kiyoto likes volleyball, but he doesn’t like when his classmates ask for autographs.
Y/N held up the Itachiyama and Nohebi jerseys in front of Kiyoto to decide what school he went to in the future. Kiyoto fell down between them, so she still doesn’t know which he likes better.

Istg I end up learning so much from your fics lol. So in your recent chapter of Dissembled I saw that one of the things Maddie removed from Danny was his spleen. Which immediately made me go "Uh oh." Cause when she said appendix, I thought well whatever, that's fine. But this organ from what I knew...shouldn't be removed willy nilly.
So I searched up the function: "it fights invading germs in the blood (the spleen contains infection-fighting white blood cells) it controls the level of blood cells (white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets) it filters the blood and removes any old or damaged red blood cells."
And i thought, holy shit this is very bad. He's already showed symptoms of being unwell, his ghost healing properties are slow, and without such a vital organ, I'm imagining something very ominous. It's like he's literally slowly dying.
So I searched up what happens if someone doesn't have a spleen, to confirm: "Someone without a spleen is at increased risk of severe, or even deadly, infections from these encapsulated bacteria." And that its possible to live without one with proper care but that you're still at high risk for shit like Streptococcus pneumoniae, Neisseria meningitidis, and Haemophilus influenzae.
Danny doesn't HAVE proper care 😭😭 he's probably severely dehydrated and malnourished like--
Imekitty where are you going with this!! I'm terrified!! And she's all "I'm going to prove you're not human" but like ok Maddie, we'll see how you react when he reacts to this exactly like a human would 💀💀
You know, I'm always really happy when someone points out something like this!
I actually already knew secondhand that you can live without a spleen because my cousin was hit by a golf cart when he was a kid and, long story short, had to have his spleen removed. Twenty years later, he's still alive and doing fine.
You definitely can live without it, but you are correct that it's not like other organs you can live without. Like you really don't need the gallbladder and you can live just fine with one kidney, but the spleen is one that changes your life more significantly when it's gone. Generally speaking, you need to take extra precautions to prevent infections because your spleen is no longer able to filter your bloodstream to help protect you.
Fortunately for Danny, Maddie is very sterile and clean in her work and gives him plenty of antibiotics after procedures, and she knows this is especially important after removing his spleen.
Or perhaps unfortunately because at this point, he kind of wants to just die already.
Anyway, I don't want to spoil anything, but I hope it's not too much of a spoiler to say that I set this up more for the sequel to this fic and not so much the end of Dissembled. And uh...well, I won't say more than that lol.
