Suppose Jackie survived, what would be the dynamic between Shauna and Jacki after the fight?

i think the ultimate tragedy of jackie and shauna is actually this fight could have been what saved them if jackie had lived. their shared 'i dont know where you end and i begin' dream implies that imo. the alternative was always that they never talk and the resentment and need for control grows until Shauna eventually runs away and it forces them to grow apart. in a way, the plane crash offered them the only possible opportunity to save their relationship because what was ruining them was their inability to communicate and given the circumstances (literally trapped in the woods together and forced into each others space constantly) they couldn't hide anymore.

lets say theoretically they find food and survive without cannibalising anyone (because without the very specific circumstances around jackie's death I don't think the descent begins at all so they never even consider the hunt). i dont think they would have had it in themselves to be true rivals, at least jackie wouldnt. its not like she loved jeff, the worst aspect for her was shaunas betrayal because she trusted her. at most they have some sulky silent feud for several months that pisses everyone else off - and that would mostly be because jackies just following shaunas lead on it. jackie wouldnt want to apologise first (rightfully) and shauna would likely be avoiding her entirely so they inevitably end up at a stalemate. but then assuming the whole situation doesnt just make jackie off herself (not unlikely tbh) i just dont see a future where shaunas distressed and in pain giving birth and jackie is apathetic to it, even if she didn't love Shauna deeply shes not cold hearted enough for that. shauna almost dying would have put everything in perspective the way jackie Actually dying did, for both of them. and then following that jackie would also probably be, based on her approach to the wilderness, the only one not acting like a weirdo about the baby. she'd end up being the only one whose actually able to help shauna grieve properly.

then following the ice breaking comes all the conversations they should have had and never did, because now jackie knows about shaunas resentment and theres no hiding anymore. they'd probably actually fall out again for a few short periods in the process lmao, purely because jackie would just poke and prod until she got answers to every single question she'd thought up but not been able to ask for several months, which would piss shauna off. and also jackie just wouldnt like some of the answers Shauna gave. so yeah it wouldnt be all sunshine and rainbows and maybe they throw some shit, but they do talk and its probably pretty cathartic. Imo theres likely still a toxic codependency that grows in a new way because in the face of the others reliance on the wilderness, shauna and jackie are even more of a unit.

I like to think jackie would have bridged the gap between nat and shauna too as the 3 non-believers, just because i could see jackie growing closer to nat more than anyone whilst ostracised. especially if it was nat who brought her in that night. think they would have put the travis thing behind them relatively quick. nats too nice for her own good and i think she'd identify in jackies isolation. also just logically i could see jackie being so desperate to escape the cabin she'd wheedle her way into the hunting outings somehow. but thats more just a headcanon.

so yeah i just cant believe they ever would have become enemies. we saw that if shauna had come out and apologised that same night, jackie would have accepted it and come inside. so no, theres no way the fight ruins them forever. thats what makes the timing of jackies death so cruel and tragic tbh, their friendship would have healed given time but now its just this permanently open wound bleeding all over shaunas life.

Since we are overanalyzing stuff, time for me to talk about my view on Shadow Knights.

I like to think of Shadow Knigts as a metaphor for obsession and how trauma can fundamentally change you and your relationships, and this is exampled by all of the Shadow Knight we know (with few exceptions, but I can explain why).

As well all know, the biggest part of being a Shadow Knight is the strong desire to kill the person closest to you, with the majority case being your lord. It is what the required step to change from fledgling to fully developed Shadow knight is. No avoiding it, and that's because relationships have power.

There is no relationship where someone does not have some sort of power over the other, and that is not a bad thing objectively. It is just a fact. From siblings to parents to friends to lovers, all relationships have some sort of power dynamic. I am not talking stronger or weaker, but more like a charge or energy. You trade and share your power like a circuit to a bulb, some relations brighten it, others burn it out.

The trading of power is natural, but Shadow knights are unnatural beings created by a man scourned by every relationship he had, especially with a woman who held so much power over him, so much sway. We have all seen the trope of "I have had my heart shattered so I must make sure no one EVER LOVES AGAIN!", well, to me this is exactly that. The knights are forced to kill the person closest to them, the person who holds the greatest power over them, metaphorically but especially literally when it comes to lords. You cannot have a relationship in fear of harming the other.

The process of being turned into a Shadow Knight is also very similar to how abusers trap their victims, this time to a very literal extreme. They isolate them, make them dead to the world, feed them vile thoughts about the people they care about, and when they do leave, there is a literal calling, forcing them to come back. They can't be around their old relationships because they now fear they are too violent, too dangerous, too broken. They try to act normal, try to be who they once were, but they can't. Cause that is not how trauma works.

The two shadow knights who exemplify this the most are Laurance and Sasha, who are the ones we are the most familiar with. We watch for essentially 150+ episodes of Laurance and Aphmau building a relationship as friends and having that relationship deteriorate as Laurances trauma gets worse and worse, before overtaking him entirely when he has to respond to the calling. I am not going to go into [black] deserved better in either relationship as it doesn't matter what they deserved, this is how the situation played out. Friendship to genuine care to hyperfixation to possession to obsession to hatred, that is how their relationship played out because Laurance was never able to heal. The relationship became toxic because of it, NOT ON PURPOSE, mind you, neither were abusive or intentionally tried to be. Sometimes that just happens and you need to know when to walk away, which is what Laurance did.

Sasha is another character who faced this conundrum with Kenmur, but the only difference was that she had time. 15 years with the knowledge that Kenmur was most likely dead (Irene dimension), and she, to some extent, already mourned. That is not to say she did not freak out when she saw him again, but she wasn't murderous. She was incredibly depressed. Just like Laurance, her love moved on and was even getting married, but her reaction wasn't murderous rage. It was to try and bury her feelings. She had time to be away, time to heal, and while she can never move on (as shown is season 3 when she cries when Kenmur dies despite being in Tu'la) she can allow both of them to heal at least.

Gene is another character who is obsessive with his relationships after becoming a Shadow Knight, but a big difference with him is that he already had abusive tendencies. He tried to erase his ex's memories so they could continue dating, so after his transformation, his TRAUMA these traits became worse and exaggerated, something that does happen after trauma. It does not excuse nor make sense of his actions but when Gene came back, he came back for revenge but he felt no desire to kill Dante, the person you would assume would be closest to him, because Dante had already betrayed him, so he had no one. There was no one with power over him because Gene was in abusive relationships where he did have all the power, where he was the one burning their bulbs in a sense.

Vylad is another character who has no one he was truly close to either. He was the bastardd child of a lord, he came into this life as an accident, as a mistake. Objectively he should have the desire to kill Garroth or him mom (which 50/50 for Garroth, those arrows man) but here's a big thing for Vylads healing, Hyria. She took care of him and made sure he was okay before sending him off. He was given the tools to heal by someone who doesn't give him permanent reminders of his trauma. He also had time on his hands to heal, where his family was trapped in another dimension or being invaded by Tu'la. He had both time and resources, which is why he is the only one who is truly fine.

I am not going to go into Zenix cause he is... Odd as hell and I don't recall his shadow knight status. He is very complicated character with not enough answers to go with.

Vincent is a full-fledged shadow knight after killing his brother, but the thing is, after purging that relationship he still struggles. He said he had moments of no control but he doesn't anymore, he is in control and that is after time, a very long time. Purging the relationship didn't solve his trauma, it just gave him nothing to obsess with.

Now, there is one last Shadow Knight I am going to go into, and that is Amethyst, the old lady who was in like, 2 episodes. She was a happy old lady who was with her loving husband, and that is all she was because time allowed her to be so. Nothing more. She is a shadow knight who was able to overcome her trauma and live a happy life, but that was with time, and with her husband, whom she grew old with.

Even if the relationship you desire wasn't the one to traumatize you, the memory of that time can be enough to cause damage. Time is what is needed so someone can be able to set their wounds and allow themselves to heal, if they so choose.

Hey guys, so I pulled for Ayo and Jeremy’s current dynamic and energy while filming the bear. I did a combined reading and then the two separately. I got (ten of cups, four of wands, the sun, strength, the magician, nine of pentacles, five of pentacles, queen of wands and the star) Okay so, here the dynamic looks pretty good.  With the ten of cups they’re feeling happy. Harmonious.

They both feel good in this creative space where they feel supported and inspired. There’s a solid foundation here with the four of wands. (There’s that twin flame energy again). There’s a feeling of balance. Progressive energy.A feeling of excitement. Freedom. Community. This is like riding a bike to them. Putting on a second skin. it is restorative for them with the Sun. They feel abundant, happy. They know the assignment with full clarity and illumination. It feels so exciting. The strength cards speaks to risks and open communication. They’re locked in here. They feel strong in their dynamic to get the job done.

To overcome obstacles and I sense there may be some, but nothing too, too serious. With the magician they’re in the land of manifestation and free will in terms of their friendship/work relationship. Honey they are in their creative power together. I cannot emphasize how powerful the magician is and coming up in their overall dynamic mean things are moving and growing especially with the 9 of pentacles coming up behind the magician. Things are growing in the right direction for the long term. It’s stable. Secure. Abundant. It feelsgood.

The five of pentacles is the most interesting card because it's the only card that swings toward negativity here. One of them may have lost something recently. Or one or both might be feeling lonely about something.  I sense this is like covertness. Five of pentacles is a card of lack. It’s a cold card. About loneliess and isolation. I pulled the queen of wands as a clarifier, and I think they are both being very careful around each other. No flirting.  They have an unspoken agreement I feel here. Keep it cute. We’re just friends. We can have the good feelings, but we can’t do it like we were doing before. We need boundaries. We can’t be flirting, especially in front of the people.  With the star though. It’s about emotional renewal. Developing an even deeper connection with each other. Healing their emotional wounds. A soul connection. I’m not just being dramatic. I am also reading this based on their individual pulled cards.

Let’s take a look at Ayo’s cards regarding how she is feeling about J and their dynamic while filming. I pulled (3 of pentacles. 4 of swords in reverse, king of cups, the empress, 2 of cups, the fool) do ya’ll see all these emotions ayo is displaying and experiencing comfortably?she has grown so much in this situation.  With the 3 of pentacles she is contented and ground in their collaborating again. She is focused on rebuilding a strong foundation in their relationship. She feels a mutual respect. Feels locked in working with him for a common goal.  With four of swords in reverse, she’s no longer torn. Confused. She feels ready to move on from stagnation and heal in their friendship. King of cups speaks to her emotions. They are there. She is letting herself feel emotions about their dynamism, whatever they may be. It’s also about her feeling harmonious with him and their work. It’s about emotional maturity. I can sense she’s taking him more seriously as she didn’t really before. She felt he engaged in  flights of fancy about love, but has come to realize the truth.

The empress confirms this. These are similar cards I just pulled so much hasn’t changed, but the empress is about a serious deep connection. Romantic or friendship or both. She feels secure in this connection. Safe. She wants to nurture it. It’s important to her.  The two of cups just cements this.It is about a deep connection between two people. The energy repeats because it is solid. The fool is about new beginnings. Having fun. Freedom. She has let go a lot of heavy emotional baggage she was feeling about their dynamic. The past is in the past. She is in the whatever happens, happens kind of energy. Taking that leap. Not caring where she lands. She feels fearless. This is unlike her, but something has shifted this year where she is feeling more in control with this. She did say she wanted the “Jester’s privilege” with the fool here she finally has it.

For Jeremy I pulled (the high priestess, death, 2 of pentacles, 10 of pentacles, queen of cups, and ace of wands) He is playing it cool. Trying to not do too much. He has learned a big lesson in what he could have lost and is doing all he can to not do that again. He has matured as well. With the high priestess he is being wise. He knows they’re good and he knows what to do. He trusts his intuition on how to navigate this.  He senses the changes in Ayo’s inner world with the death tarot and trusts he can be open with her again (of course with boundaries) but IT is there for both of them. He just feels relieved she sees it too and it has cooled down this strong urge he felt to chase her. He won’t chase.  He is patient. The main thing he lacked before.

Also, with death he has let go of old baggage as well. Old hangups. He feels calmer quite honestly.  He cares more in terms of how things could look. Not really for himself but for her. he Is more cautious and understands the mistakes he made with her. With the 2 of pentacles here he feels things are more balanced. He feels more balance. Less intense or he’s at least able to find balance between intensity and being a grounded support which is a nice balance for ayo in their friendship even though she could probably handle the intensity now that she is feeling her feels.  Ten of pentacles is about him feeling harmonious with her and the work. It’s really grounding for their dynamic. He is thinking about the long term. “I want you in my life forever” queen of cups is the same as ayo’s king of cups.  His emotions have cooled. The intensity is still there with the ace of wands.That fire is still burning, but it’s complimenting her instead of trying consume and suffocate her with the queen of cups there to assist.

Now,  yes. Ayo still does have a partner..i think…I will have to do deeper  reading here but she’s giving me single vibes. They may have broken up. I asked if they were broken up and I pulled the empress, three of swords and four of wands. Also the hangedman ( a pause and delay) with the sun and temperance….a pause in commitment and happiness. A separation to find balance and healing. I’ll have to take a deeper look but my pendulum also swung yes. It never does when I ask if she’s single. I wonder if they’ve been seen together recently? I don’t’ pay attention. If so, sure. The cards aren’t necessarily terrible, but I don’t sense romantic connection or trying to connect emotionally.  Maybe that’s what part of the five of pentacles I pulled in their combined reading means. I sense something happened. This is the first time the pendulum swung yes…well….free will and all that. We’ll see. Toodles!

VENOM 3 SPOILERS AHEAD!!! and veryyyy unorganized thoughts below the cuttt!!!

first of all. OH MY GOD. genuinely this was a beautifully executed storyline, with the most bitter, heartwrenching ending. tom hardy when i fucking GET YOU!!!!!!!!!!

okay. im in actual, real life tears over this movie. venom saved eddie's life within, what? 3 days of knowing him? a week tops? and venom brought eddie back from the fucking dead!!!!!!! DESPITE KNOWING!!!!!!!!! WHAT WOULD HAPPEN!!!!!! despite knowing he would trigger the codex, venom still saved eddie's fucking life! which is especially interesting considering the symbiote in mulligan, which i am assuming was in him for a WHILE, left him to die (fair!) at the end of the second movie! venom saved eddie's life. without a second thought.

also this definitely was a love story between eddie and venom. they literally had their break up arc in the second movie(!) and this tied a beautiful, bitter end to their very tragic story. venom saying, to eddie, what martin said. "until we meet again", genuine tears in my eyes. it showed venom's humanity, everything he learned, from eddie and others. to me, personally, venom is still with eddie. they're living symbiotically, with eddie on one side of the door and venom on the other. nierka(??? i totally butchered that lmao). eddie saying i will never forget you buddy while looking at lady liberty. GOD. eddie isn't alone anymore! eddie won't EVER be alone!!!!!!!!!! despite what everyone told him!!!!!!!!! eddie has venom, maybe not physically right now, but he still has a part of him!!!!!!!! they're both free. they're both. GAH.

also there still is a bit of venom left. in a tiny test tube, at the bottom of area 55. don't think i forgot about that!!!!! he's still there, they never showed us that it actually got destroyed. and EYE believe that venom found eddie, after they blew up. and it somehow, in some marvel magic sparkles way reset the codex. they still have each other, until the end!!!!! TILL DEATH DO THEY PART!!!!!!!!!!!!!

genuinely, the writers cared. tom hardy cared!!!!!!! i don't know how many people he had to keep under gunshot to get this, but he gave us a beautiful trilogy about love and friendship and humanity and finding each other. the queerness of it all, the found family (except the chickens. how DARE eddie give the chickens away. for that alone he should've died).

i missed anne, but i think that her not being there was. good? it was good. she and eddie truly loved each other as friends and whilst i hoped they'd at least have a phone call or a singular scene together, i do get why they didn't! she moved on with her life, and it was time for eddie to move on with his. her telling venom to keep him safe at the end of the second movie. and he did! he gave his own life for eddie's, he kept his promise. i just. GOD. venom keeping eddie alive as the symbiotehunters kept coming and coming and coming. keeping eddie from looking back, and healing him one. last. time. HE DIDN'T EVEN NEED TO SAY I LOVE YOU!!!!! EDDIE JUST KNEW!!!!!!! EDDIE!!!!!! KNEW!!!!!!!!!!!

Natasha thought she knew everything about Y/N from the moment they had become official. Although Y/N had a secret that only Wanda knew about, especially as the two have a history with Hydra. Although Wanda had volunteered thinking she was doing it to save her country, Y/N was captured because of her bloodline.

Wanda was in control of being her keeper, she helped with calming her down whenever she felt overwhelmed or like she was going to lose control. But the friendship between the two didn't go unnoticed by the assassin. Jealousy had sparked something from within and she found herself questioning her relationship with Y/N.

"Do you want a fresh drink?" Y/N asked her at one of Tony's parties.

"Please." Nat smiled at her as Y/N took her glass and headed to the kitchen. Smiling as she got the drinks but soon as she spotted Steve sitting a little too close to Natasha, she felt anger and rage as Nat looked uncomfortable.

"Just a moment Vis." Wanda told him as she noticed Y/N's stare, heading straight for her best friend and dragging her outside the compound. "Just breathe Y/N." Wanda tried as Y/N paced.

"I just." She tried to speak but her breathing increased. It was Vision who had went to ask Natasha to follow him since they both had a plan to catch the two in the act. But what they never realised was that it was the complete opposite to how they thought.

"Y/N." Wanda spoke in a soothing voice, Y/N shook her head no as her body started to change. Her screams filled the air as the bones broke as they changed form. Once Y/N had fully changed, Vision went into protective mode and flew over to tackle Y/N away from Wanda. "VISION!!" She yelled as she used her powers to stop his movements.

Nat slowly approached the the three of them with caution.

"She is dangerous Wanda." He told her as Wanda shook her head no.

"She has nevet hurt me in all of the years we have known each other." Wanda told him through gritted teeth as she went to check on Y/N, running her hands through Y/N's hair as she whimpered.

"What is going on?" Nat questioned as she watched both Wanda and Y/N in her wolf form.

"She is from a long line of werewolves and she was taken by Hydra." Wanda told her. "Hydra had her kill someone in order to activate the curse and ever since I have been their for her."

"I just." Nat looked at Y/N's whimpering form.

"Y/N had never cheated on you." Wanda stated. "Sorry, it's just that your thoughts are very loud and I couldn't control it." Nat just nodded as she gazed at the grey wolf. "Y/N loves you so much Natasha and she comes to me when she fears she can't control herself. She is afraid of hurting you so she kept this secret from you."

"She's hurt." Nat stated as she noticed the blood on her fur.

"She will heal." Wanda told her. "There is a lot that comes with this knowledge Natasha and Y/N needs you to be impartial."

"I love her Wanda and I will not go anywhere." Natasha spoke firmly as she knelt beside Y/N. "This secret won't come between us." Wanda smiled as she watched the assassin started to stroke Y/N's fur. "I don't care that she turns into a wolf, all I care about is her health and happiness."

"I love you too Natasha." Y/N whispered as they soon noticed Y/N had changed back, Wanda was fast to give her the hoodie she had on to cover her bare form. "And I am sorry that I felt as though I couldn't trust you with this."

"That's ok." She whispered as she brushed Y/N's hair from her face. "Let's get you inside and we can have a bath and watch a movie."

"I would love that." Y/N kissed her softly as Wanda cleared her throat.

"Well, I guess I best get Vision in line before he gets everyone to turn on Y/N." Wanda told the two as she soon disappeared, leaving the two lovers under the stars as Nat pulled her back in for a loving kiss.

Analyzing the versions of Terusai

How well it fits within canon and with the characters general personalities

Explanations:

Kokomi and Kusuo: Theyre already close friends and Kokomi has been shown to have a crush on him, when his powers went away, he stared at her and did say that her face would be considered pretty. Also the combination of gorgeous and psychic would be unstoppable.

It would also help both of them out, both of them get considered more than human, by their family especially. Kusuo already considers Kokomi to be a regular girl which is part of why she likes him so much, platonically or romantically. I think that opinion would do wonders for her, she would be allowed to have a break and wouldn't have to keep up her performance around him. And for Kusuo, Kokomi doesn't know him extremely well as shown by her fantasy version of him. However, she could get to know him better as time progresses. Even if she does learn about his powers, she would be shocked at first obviously, however she would grow to accept it, and given how shes been treated and how she is favoured by God, and her ability to guess people thoughts on her with extreme precision (see: average boy from the 3 legged race) her experiences border on psychic, this would allow her to be able to see Kusuo more as a regular boy than most people who know do, an example being Kuusuke.

It would also most likely help with their familial issues given the similarities. Both their older brothers have their issues, albeit different degrees, this would allow them to understand each other's problems and therefore let each other work through it.

Makoto and Kusuo: Who doesn't like enemies to lovers? They hate each other but they keep interacting, one time Makoto even halfway hugged him, strange behaviour to a guy you hate, not to mention how many times Makoto has randomly showed up at Kusuo's house unannounced. Also, Makoto is shown to be very jealous of Kusuo due to his friendship with Kokomi, a good twist on this would be that he's jealous of Kokomi but can't handle those feelings so he copes in the strangest manner. This would improve Makoto's character and the fanbases opinion on him. He is definitely the most hated Saiki K character, why? Because of his blatant obsession with his own sister, if you remove that, you can focus on his better qualities more. He's a funny and interesting character with a great design but that gets overshadowed by the sister thing.

Aside from that idea, it still works even if you keep the sister issue. Learning to love someone else would be good for him. His obsession hurts him and especially Kokomi, so being separated from her would give both her time to heal and him time to learn to love someone else, and allow the siblings to develop a healthy sibling bond.

Kokomi and Kuusuke: I believe it would be toxic as hell. Kuusuke has been shown to be actively hostile towards her (and most people) and given how much of her pride he shattered, she probably holds a deep grudge against him. I think if they were to date they would act nice to each other around people but it would be very strained and fake, but they would end up trying to best each other constantly, Kuusuke because he dislikes her, and Kokomi because she dislikes him and to regain her damaged pride. They would be like the couples who actively despise each other but Kuusuke and Kokomi would not tell people that.

However, in the scenario of a healthy relationship, It could benefit them in some ways. As I said with Kusuo, Kuusuke doesn't consider Kokomi anything more than a regular girl, (he actually believes that she's less than that, or more accurately, all humans are, except Kusuo and he likely places himself between the two categories.) Since he doesn't consider her godlike, she could be free to be herself, and be somewhat free from that pressure. On top of that, Kuusuke figured out her entire characters based on about 20 minutes with her, so there wouldn't even be a point of being a perfect pretty girl since he already knows who she is. I would say it would help him get over his competitiveness against Kusuo, however, I doubt he thinks highly of anyone else's opinion so Kokomi's input would have no effect on his behaviour. However, seeing the Cambridge scenes, he seems extremely lonely, so companionship, romantic or not, would benefit him.

Makoto and Kuusuke: Honestly, there's no telling how they would react to each other, they have no dynamic to go off of. However, everything I said about Makoto and how Kusuo would improve him, goes for Kuusuke as well so it would impact Makoto at least, and with Kuusuke, as with Kokomi, it would help dwindle his loneliness. Also, they have a lot of comedic potential, they are both very eccentric and strange men, being around each other's influence would probably amplify those traits. Imagining the amount of disapproval Kusuo and Kokomi would have about it is great on it's own. Overall, they are up to interpretation, they can be whatever the viewer wants them to be, and that in of itself is wonderful potential.

My personal opinions on them

What does "Positive but neutral" mean? It means I like the ship but I do not indulge in actively shipping it. Other than that, I post about Makoto and Kuusuke everyday without fail, I love Kokomi and Kusuo's friendship and see them more as best friends rather than lovers, and I am not very fond of Kuusuke and Kokomi (as a ship, as characters I adore them)

Overall, I respect all ships and the people who ship them.

All of them - except for the only one of them named and characterized, Bentilais san Sk'ar, who plays a major role in the Empire of the Hand -- died in the same shuttle crash that disfigured Grievous and led to him becoming the cyborg we all know and love.

Here's my takes on two of them. While pre-Clone Wars isn't usually the timeframe I deal with, considering the impact they have on Kaleesh history, and several characters in particular, I wanted to show them off here.

Balati yui Serket - Medic and Wife of Grievous

Name origins:  Balati is taken from Bēlet-balāṭi- one of the titles of Gula, the Sumerian goddess of medicine, and Serket, the Egyptian scorpion goddess who protects against poisons.

A lithe, bronze-scaled Kaleesh from the Kunbal Jungle, the medic of the Izvoshra was recruited to the Kolkpravis in 39 BBY.  Her clan's "inheritance" from the Bitthaevrian conflict was been a (solar powered) field datapad, originally belonging to a Jedi healer. It contained data on botany and chemistry, and Balati used it to compare to Kalee's native plant species and devise new healing slaves, potions, etc.  She also took note of what plants have natural insecticides, theorizing that if it works on little bugs, it might work on the big ones too. 

She tended to have a very practical attitude, not much in the way of bedside manner, and a tendency to tell her patients off for “stupid” injuries, not caring for rank or role in such situations.  In matters of medicine and healing, she ruled with an iron claw.  Despite her brash attitude (or more likely, because of it), Balati was good friends with Ronderu lij Kummar and Bentilais san Sk’ar, probably because of how much time she spends patching the two "melee" fighters' wounds, compared to "ranged DPS" Qymaen jai Sheelal.  Her friendship with Sk’ar soon developed into a crush on the strike force master, though she was uncharacteristically shy about telling him.  It was no secret to the other female members of the Izvoshra, blademaster Ronderu and huntress/scout Ahoshu kek De'vana, both of whom would tell Balati to stop being stupid and just jump the violet-scaled warrior already.     

When Ronderu died in battle in 37 BBY, Balati was almost as upset as Qymaen, and the two took comfort in each other, which resulted in Balati becoming gravid.  She became Grievous' first wife after Ronderu, laying two eggs -- her sons {who need names - they later marry another of my OCs, Ve'tani, Sk'ar's niece and future Khagan of the Kaleesh).  Balati tried to push aside her feelings for Sk'ar, thinking Grievous needed her more – for the good of not just her new lover and Khagan, but all of Kalee, or so she told herself.  Truthfully, she still loved Sk’ar, but knew both males were not the type to “share”.  She did love Grievous in her own way, understanding far more than his other wives that she will always be second to Ronderu’s memory, and not resenting him for it, but trying to give him at least a little relief to his grief.  Perhaps he understood, if only subconsciously, as he was also second in her heart. 

She and Grievous together invited sisters (Wives 2 and 3 – need names) to join their family, after rescuing the two from a village that had been almost completely destroyed by the Huk, except for a traditional village creche (a practice long-abandoned my most Kaleesh during the Huk War, given the insectoids' disgusting, quite literal taste for Kaleesh eggs). The sisters had been on hatchling-minding duty when the attack struck and fought tooth and claw for their charges, managing to save them and kill a pile of Huk, despite being untrained civilians. Polyamory is customary for Kaleesh, especially among those serving in the Kolkpravis -- to add to the marriage at least one non-combatant so that their hatchlings would be cared for in the event of their deaths, and the sisters proved to be perfect additions. 

For a time, things seem to be going well – the Huk have been pushed off Kalee entirely, and between the four of them, they had four hatchlings to keep them busy.  But Grievous knew that it was only a matter of time before the Huk returned, so he lead the Kolkpravis off-world, driving the Huk off of Abbaji Minor and Oben, and taking the fight to Torvarskl.

 In a panic as the Kaleesh start eyeing (planet) Huk itself, the Yam'rii cried to the Trade Federation, who use their connections in the corrupt Senate to manipulate the Republic into sending in the Jedi.  The Kaleesh fought back valiantly for a few weeks, suffering terrible losses in the Kolkpravis , until Balati lost a leg when a Jedi attacks her, despite her being a medic, trying to help another warrior.  Grievous, horrified at the thought of watching another lover die in front of him, surrendered, in order to spare hers and the other Izvoshra's lives.  With her injury, Balati was no longer able to assist on the front lines, but at least she could still be a medic, even if restricted to using crutches to get around with her stump of a leg.

Grievous didn't outright say anything, but Balati knew he blamed her for the war ending in such an anti-climatic way, and they argued, a lot.  Their marriage was not exactly a happy one from that point on, as Grievous was in a mood after the war ended for no longer having a "job", while Balati's skills as a medic were still in-demand, made worse when Grievous took wives 4-10 in quick succession, without consulting the existing ones like he was supposed to, mostly for political reasons, but also to try, not too subtly, to "kriff" his grief away.  They tended to bicker and fight more than anything else, which more often than not dissolved into angry sex (though no more eggs – a medic knows how to prevent such things when not wanted). 

In 28 BBY, the worst year of the post-ceasefire famine, the Intergalactic Banking Clan made its offer to Grievous -- work as their enforcer, and they will buy out Kalee's "debt", which will allow traders to come back to the system, alleviating the famine, and stop both the Huk raids, and the Republic's "inspections". Suspicious, but seeing no other choice, Grievous agreed, but asked for a "signing bonus" first, for the IGBC to give Balati an artificial leg, to replace the one the Jedi took. The IGBC agreed, and brought both Balati and Grievous to Muunilinst for the surgery (really to test how well Kaleesh will respond to cybernetics).  The new leg, and weeks together during transit and Balati’s recovery, went a long way towards fixing Grievous' and Balati's strained relationship, and she left Muunilinist with both her cybernetic leg, and once again gravid. Grievous stayed behind, and began his work for the IGBC. 

During Grievous’ four years of work for the IGBC, Balati at first had regular contact with her husband, but it started to become more and more rare as the Banking Clan slowly restricted his access to home, until he unexpectedly returned to Kalee – breaking his contract early with the Banking Clan when he heard about the Huk’s desecration of the Oben burial grounds – clearly breaking their terms of the ceasefire in a way that even the corrupt Republic couldn’t dispute.  Seizing the opportunity to finish what they started, Balati fully supported her husband when he rallied the other Izvoshra for a strike mission to Oben.

Balati was pulled from the wreckage of the Martyr by her old crush, Bentilais san Sk’ar, but her cybernetic leg had been torn from her body during the crash, ripping open her stump in the process.  She died of blood loss in Sk’ar’s arms, while whispering Qymaen’s name, hoping that in death, he had finally found peace.

Ahoshu kek De'vana -- the Huntress

Named for Ahoshu, an Akan (African) goddess of hunting who kills poachers, and Devana, the Slavic name for Diana/Artemis

The huntress and scout of the Izvoshra, from the mountain/boreal forest region west of Kaleea, who joined Qymaen and Ronderu around the same time as Sk'ar. She was knowledgeable about animals, their behaviour and habitats, geography, and acted as the Izvoshra's advance scout, reporting back to Qymaen Huk locations, types and numbers, helping him to plan his strategies. She playfully made fun of Sk'ar at first for being a "city boy" (since he's from Kaleea itself), and had a huge amount of respect for Ronderu, admiring her battle mask and her skill with her lig swords. Her preferred weapon was a bow, as she liked long-ranged weapons but considered rifles, like those used by her Khagan, to be too noisy. For close range combat she used a shoni spear, which doubled as a hiking stick.  She could often be found after a battle picking arrows out of dead Huk.  A western Kaleesh, De’vana, like fellow Westerner Sk’ar, had violet scales, though she often painted her exposed scales with green warpaint (which might have been partially made from Huk ichor), acting as camouflage in the forests she stalked. 

After Ronderu's death, she became frustrated at fellow Izvoshra Balati yui Serket, who she knew loved Sk'ar, yet married Grievous, thinking he "needed" her more, and called Balati out on her bullshit.

After the ceasefire, De’vana starts to realise just how damaged the Huk occupation had left Kalee’s environment.  Farmland had been burned, air and water polluted, and wild prey animal stocks depleted.  For a civilisation like the Kaleesh, where hunting and gathering still played a huge role in their food production, this was a major problem.  She proactively started replanting the razed forests, and protecting animals from the increasingly desperate population, acting as a hunt guide to minimize further damage, while still ensuring her people were fed.

In 30 BBY, two year after the ceasefire and the subsequent famine, the Huk, no longer content to just sit back and watch the Kaleesh suffer, begin their slavery raids again (calling it "reparation payments" to get around the Republic’s bureaucracy), only this time, the Kaleesh could not fight back (or at least they were not supposed to -- many did anyway, though they couldn't in the organized way they did before).  Huk raiders destroyed De’vana’s reforestation tree farms, and killed whole herds of animals just to leave them to rot and deprive the starving Kaleesh of another food source. 

De’vana went to Sk'ar for help (since Grievous was being watched).  The two Izvoshra gathered a small guerilla strike force, the kind Sk’ar specialised in, and start to fight back, successfully destroying several Huk raiding parties, only for Grievous to be forced by a Jedi "inspector" (at lightsaber-point) to stop them. It doesn't come to violence, but Grievous was disgusted at himself for even the thought of having to raise a weapon to his Izvoshra. The incident would become known as the "Izvoshra Rebellion", even though only two out of the eight were involved. 

De'vana was grateful for Sk'ar's assistance when no one else would, or could help her, and the two of them became mates. Though they never formally married, nor had any eggs, they were devoted to each other, for as long as De’vana lived.

She died in 24 BBY, along with the rest of the Izvoshra in the Crash of the Martyr, excepting Grievous and Sk'ar.  Badly burnt in the explosion of the shuttle, she was dead before the wreckage hit the water of the Jenuwaa Sea.  

De'vana's death affected Sk'ar more than the warrior would ever openly admit, as he did not want to fall into the same trap of grief as had consumed Qymaen. He never took another serious Kaleesh mate. Decades later, while serving in the Empire of the Hand, he became rather notorious for his sexual appetite for alien reptilians, especially Trandoshans and Barabels, seeing them as casual fun, without the ... complexity that a relationship with another Kaleesh would entail. He told himself that, even as he kept going back to a certain Trandoshan over and over ...

They have a very beautiful friendship. Definitely Two Souls that have most likely met time and time again that were always made to be friends. They definitely lead on each other a lot more than others would assume from the outside looking in. I also feel like part of the reason why people are aware of their friendship but just not how deep it is is because they're both also very much so aware of the public perception. I do feel like sometimes people within fandoms kind of don't recognize the toxicity in their own fandom bubbles but also like the weird vibes between her and fandoms. I will never understand why people who are fans of either of these groups ever fight with each other when they're literally supposed to be brother groups. But because that is the fact of the matter it definitely makes it feel as if all of the members from both groups are very careful about how often they will mention or bring up each other so if and kind of downplay how close some of the members are with each other. And again trauma bonding I talked about it in quite a few of my other love readings basically or ideal type readings a lot of fourth and 5th gen boy groups I have trauma whether it's from having to be on the survival programs or just watching and taking in all of the generation trauma on how batshit insane fans have become and how companies are bending to the will of these fans. Because of this it has created way more than you would expect friendships that have a cord that deal with just trying to see that heal each other's traumas.

I'm yapping to myself in the middle of the night at like 12:00 a.m. just as I'm about to go to sleep and I'm thinking about how for three whole seasons this series has focused on the platonic relationships between Yeonwoo, and the gang while sprinkling bits of Yeonsol's romantic relationship in between.

Season 1, we were focusing on Yeonwoo, Nari and the whole entire bullying plotline that was season 1, and my God was it so very good.

It was essentially exploring Yeonwoo, and him branching out outside of Junhyuk and their codependent relationship. At first Junhyuk was supporting it too but that's the thing with codependency. Things change too much and both parties start to regress. Season 1 was the beginning of that, and it was also the beginning of the cracks in Junhyuk and Yeonwoo's relationships showing. Season 1 is such a very good starting block on Junhyuk, and Yeonwoo's relationship along with starting to unwrap Yeonwoo's trauma/ptsd. I can honestly like talk about that alone for ever but let's move on..

Season 2 goes more in depth with Yeonwoo and the gangs relationship. As they all solidify their friendship with bits of Yeonwoo and Haesol's romantic relationship progressing. Yeonwoo and Haesol's relationship in season 2 is definitely a b plot (it honestly is for a lot of the series) especially as the main plot that is their school life is kicking into high gear and Yeonwoo is forming a deeper bond with Yeseul in regards to the drama with Jinwoo.

It's also a really good way to solidify his character as someone who cares about other people but also highlights how he can also be very self-destructive in the way he does that.

That season is just perfect because when Junhyuk tells Yeonwoo "what you're doing now is no different from self-harm" it really hits home to how his self-destructive tendencies are very close to him hurting himself just in a way that isn't physical now it's a lot more emotional, and mental.

It shows you that even though he appears to be getting better he still has a long way to go.

Season 2 really hones that in and then we go over to season 3.

That entire season is just Yeonwoo, Junhyuk and there Middle School past. Its about Yeonwoo facing his trauma and codependency head on. Its uncomfortable and painful to read because that's how dealing with trauma is in real life. They needed that break because Yeonwoo needed to see just how much he was not only hurting Junhyuk with being complacent in there friendship but also himself. In my eyes even though Junhyuk was the one protecting Yeonwoo, Yeonwoo was the one keeping things in place. He was the one that held that leash that refused to let Junhyuk go and Junhyuk didn't want him to let it go either. That's codependency and the way that Esol took so much time with them. Showed how much they care about each other and how even though they do love each other they can still hurt each other... augh!

Everything in regards to their friendship and the writing of season 3 is so good I just love it!

I genuinely adore Yeonwoo and Junhyuk so very much they are so very important to me and to me when I think about them they are the epitome of platonic sworn siblinghood.

Only recently in season 4 have we been getting major development with Yeonwoo, and Haesol's romantic relationship, and when I realized that I genuinely laughed out loud because what do you mean.

It really hones in how for three whole seasons the main focus of this series was the friendships that were happening healing from trauma. The romantic relationship that is the main part of this series was kind of a b plot.

And I personally love that.

I absolutely love that. I love how for the beginning of this series most of this series is actually Yeonwoo development as a character. It isn't just because of Haesol but it's also because he was willing and finally ready after years of staying in that comfortable bubble with Junhyuk to open himself up to other people, to not be scared of human interaction especially after what he went through and after he has the full right to not trust anyone after the most heinous crime was done to him.

Allow for people to care about him and for him to care about others in a healthy way.

I'm so very happy that this series takes so much time and effort in showing you just how important platonic bonds are for people and how they can change someone for the better.

Like I love Haesol and Yeonwoo with my heart but goodness if Yeonwoo, and the gang and their shenanigans, all the mess that they have been in throughout this series does not make me feel just as much Insanity as the main couple doe!

I love them all so much and I love how this series balances friendships and romantic relationships so very well. It doesn't just dive straight into the romance after Yeonwoo confesses to Haesol. No, the progression between their relationship is slow but it's also realistic and in that time as they take small steps to strengthen their relationship Yeonwoo also strengthens his relationship with his friends and as I think about that more and more I just get this feeling, this intense joy because never in any other piece of media that I have read or watched have I seen this much consideration and this much balance between romance and friendship.

You know what that's a lie because Kimi ni todoke was amazing at doing that and that is one of the few animes that is up there with my favorites because of how very good it is at balancing romance and friendships.

Not only that but now we are starting to unpack Haesol's obvious trauma regarding family and the whole she has a twin reveal has had me hook line and sinker.

Twins in media and real life are usually treated horrible. They are either the same person or one of them dies because ppl hate the idea of having two ppl who look the same but don't act the same. That and they eventually become estranged because the ppl around them don't treat them as separate ppl and they start to resent each other and they break up.

Haesoo coming into the mix. Him having always been there for Haesol since the beginning. Him having to live with the man who abused them both. Him having only Haesol as his motivation to keep moving on is so very devastating and it is the perfect way to hammer in the very stories central theme of family and friendship.

Kang Haesoo was Haesol's only friend when they were younger. They where the only ones keeping each other safe and happy and there separation hurts so bad.

There reunion hurts even MORE because of how horrible it was. Like omg Haesol was cold with him and what makes it worst is she has ever right to be.

There is so much nuance in there relationship and I hope Esol takes as much time with them as she did with Yeonwoo and Junhyuk because they are just so very tragic and after Yeonwoo/Haesol, and Yeonwoo&Junhyuk, Haesol&Haesoo is defiantly going to be in my top five fav relationships in these series in that order because they are complex and interesting and if they don't end up reconcealing like how Yeonwoo and Junhyuk did they are going to be disgustingly tragic and I'll actually cry.

Thoughts I had while watching episodes 6-8 of Bridgerton Season 3. Yes, I finally watched all of Bridgerton. Yes, I have many thoughts about episode 5, but I need more time to compose them. Don't read more if you don't want spoilers.

-Yay Francesca & Lord Kilmartin. I adore this couple almost as much as Polin.

-Eloise & Pen's first real talk in Pen's bedroom. Maybe they'll get their friendship healed.

-Why does Lady Danbury despise her brother?

-That little dance in the church 😍😍😍

-I get why Cressida did what she did. I would've done anything to avoid marrying an old creepy dinosaur as well. But she just makes everything worse and worse.

-That talk between Portia & Pen. I suspect it is supposed to be sweet, but I hate it, especially after seeing how things have been in the past. I don't trust or like Portia.

-Violet unable to show Francesca & John the same level of excitement & love as she gives Polin is hard to watch.

-Pen's sisters suck.

-I really, really, REALLY wish Colin had known the truth before he proposed & they had sex. That is something they changed from the book, and not for the better.

-Oh lord, Cressida is a horrid writer & both she & her mom know it 😬

-Benedict is not handling Anthony buying his place at the art school well. I hate that Benedict is denying his creative abilities. The man has talent and he's so hurt and doesn't believe in himself anymore, and it hurts to watch.

-I think what I hate most about Portia treating Pen decently is the fact that I can't believe it will last, nor do I think that Portia is being genuine. I think this is all cause she's trying to keep Colin's favor. And it frustrates me. Because Pen deserves better.

-The unfolding flower thing was cool.

-Oh boy, I feel so bad for Francesca. She just wants to be with John & be happy. Definitely bringing up some feels from my own engagement.

-Lady Danbury & her brother 😔

-i hate aimless Benedict.

-Colin twirling Pen is everything. I love happy twirling.

-I really appreciate the deaf representation this season.

-Cressida's red dress would be stunning if not for that horrendous giant bow.

-Cressida, I get that you are at the end of your rope and are making poor life choices, but I really hoped that you'd grown as a person.

-The love I have for Lady Danbury is more than I can express.

-Also, that is a gorgeous chess set.

i became too invested in this. some of these ships i haven't thought in years, so it was nice to relive the times i was obsessed with them. i narrowed it to one ship per media/fandom and just like my tag-buddy, I'll provide my questionable reasons/propaganda.

REASONS/PROPAGANDA

Sydney Sage/Trey Juarez:

so when i was first reading bloodlines, i read online that sydney gets a human boyfriend in book 2. i had heard about brayden but never in the context of HIM being the boyfriend, so i thought he was the random dude in book 1 (wasn't he, unironically, called hayden??) who asked sydney out. i was theorizing who that boyfriend would be until my brain went: "omg.... IS IT TREY??" and got soo hyped. i loved their interaction in book 1 and thought exploring them in a romantic setting would be so interesting, especially with the implication of trey having a major role. they are so similar (growing up in a cult, daddy issues, both being smart) and yet, trey has some adrian-like traits?? charming, popular in the dating pool, laidback... and it would create some tension between sydrian??? imagine adrian watching trey and sydney date and feeling discouraged because she found a human "version" of him?? and with trey being a warrior, he would try to get sydney to have the alchemist side with them and push the "moroi are evil" narrative, creating more doubts for sydney to rebel! BUT THEN SYDNEY HELPS TREY REBEL AGAINST THE WARRIORS!!

i love their friendship as is, and know for a fact they wouldn't last that long but man... i would have eat up their failed romance.

Rachel Berry/Sam Evans:

ah yes. my first ever rarepair. since that one episode in season 2 where she and finn helped sam with his young siblings, i fell in love with them. if you were in the glee fandom, you know every single couple was problematic one way or the other (this is the writers' fault). yet somehow, every relationship sam was in, it was the healthiest the woman he was with ever had. and i wanted that for rachel! i ate all the crumbs this show gave me, which were... almost nonexistent. the big difference between this rarepair and the others on this poll is that, in the show's final season, THEY BECAME CANON. I WAS SO HAPPY. they were very unpopular because it came out of nowhere and the writers only put them together to give rachel a love interest for the final season (and give the storyline they planned for finn to someone else), which... fair. but he was so caring, encouraging her to follow her dreams and telling her the tough truth about things she didn't want to hear. it was so good to see rachel heal from finn and her failed broadway dreams while with sam. (also she was less insufferable with him).

but then, ha... they broke up on the third to last episode of the series. so she could be with jesse who showed up out of nowhere on that same episode, after he "left" 4-3 seasons ago. don't get me wrong - i love st. berry! jonathan groff and lea michelle have chemistry! love ambitious broadway wannabes being a power couple! but why not, i don't know, put the storyline she had with sam with jesse instead so it could be more organic and avoid crushing my dreams???

Clarisse La Rue/Silena Beauregard (PJO):

this isn't a rarepair compared to the previous two, but within the pjo fandom, it isn't as popular (surprisingly?? at least in ao3. i'm so out of the loop). first time reading pjo, little old only thought of clarisse and silena as best friends. but as i got older and read more fan analysis of the series, i realized the tragedy of these two. either 1) clarisse had an unrequited crush 2) they dated and didn't work out 3) it was a failed situationship. the daughter of ares, the girl people in camp-half blood are so scared of because she is mean to everyone and can (and will) beat the shit out of them, had a wholesome friendship with the daughter of aphrodite, and one of the nicest people in the camp?? and this friendship appeared because silena helped clarisse with her "boy problems"??? and then clarisse basically protected and comforted silena after what happened with charlie?? no spoilers for those who haven't read the books, but they parallel a famous greek mythology couple and their ending hurts. still love silena/charlie, but god... poor clarisse...

can't wait to keep rereading the books and suffer once i get to their part!

Gary "Eggsy" Unwin/Roxy Morton (Kingsman)

everyone prefers hartwin and merlin/eggsy, but i can't help but love mortwin. i watched the first movie and loved their small moments. loved how they bonded over being the underdogs in the competition and, instead of becoming sworn enemies, they recognized each other as worthy opponents. their small fun, friendly-rivarly banter was cute. part of me was relieved they stayed as friends in the end... but i couldn't help but be soo disappointed. the chemistry? it was there!! even taron egerton said there was potential to explore a romance if given the chance! plus, i'm a sucker for well-developed friends-to-lovers.

never watched the sequel but after reading what the writers did to roxy, i'm glad i didn't and never will. i can now create my own sequel in my head and read fanfics of the story they deserve 😌

Bella Swan/Leah Clearwater (Twilight):

i want to thank this one brazilian fanfic i found years ago (and never wrote down the name and lost it 😔) for presenting me with this ship. everyone talks about bella/alice, bella/rosalie, bella/carlisle... but what about bella/leah??? think new moon, when bella has just been abandoned by edward, meeting the werewolves through jacob and therefore leah, who is still dealing with the whole paul/emily thing. they can still start out with leah hating bella but they can bond over being abandoned by their boyfriends and heal from it, and in the end realize they don't need them anymore - they can have each other!

i also love if edward still comes back and bella is conflicted, and it's a edward/bella/leah love triangle (apparently people ship edward/leah and how i never heard of it?! imagine the drama!!) i will take anything where jacob isn't involved
