So I just remembered this because I was thinking about something cleg reblogged once (hi cleg because I’m pretty sure you will see this)

The light isn’t drawn red as like a style choice, it’s drawn red because this lantern 💖runs on blood💖, not oil
Just another fun fact about Marzenie for y’all :}
#thinking… what is source of blood#…bc if it’s marze himself or something like that… that is VERY interesting#and can be a metaphor for how basil sacrifices himself to protect others#or rather sunny#quite literally#from what I recall#the main objective of marzenie is to return the Sun to its place#or something similar… after something happened with sol and something#Basil does not WANT to go on this journey#but he wants to desperately for this hellscape to return to normal and more specifically for sol to be okay#because he is literally marze’s god. he views him as the prime perfect deity in this world#he does not WANT to do any of this or any of this journey but he will endure it for sol: the light of his world#and so he sacrifices himself#drains himself physically of his blood to continue on this journey#and I think all of that interestingly parallels basil’s real situation#basil doesn’t WANT to be stuck on this awful scenario. he didn’t want to kill mari he didn’t want to hurt anyone he didn’t want such changes#but it protects sunny. Sunny who could do no wrong#the light of his world. and so he allows himself to be drained and harmed. he takes blame for the photo album denying sunny was responsible#he allows himself to be bullied by Aubrey so long as sunny is not blamed for it#all in hopes he will come back some day and everything can be okay#or: on the flip side if it’s someone else’s or multiple people’s blood it can represent how basil views himself as a leech in a way#as a burden… harming others no matter what he tries to do#saving sol is right. this journey is right. it is the good and heroic and mora thing to do#but to keep himself going on this horrible journey he must drain others. he must hurt others even if he doesn’t want to#I think both interpretations are really awesome and so so cool… so no matter which it is supposed to be (or maybe none at all) I LOVE this#augh…#omori#omori basil
