Why do so many people want Luke to be Percy’s rapist when Gabe is literally right there.

since last night my mind is flooded w that one annabeth scene where she's picking up candy for the boys. she said that she would only bring chips and sodas. she didnt. annabeth wanted the boys to like her, so she decided to surprise them w candy, but she has never leave camp (or just once or twice) since she was seven years old, so she had no idea what candy to pick for them. so she picked a lot. because the boys would probably like at least one of those. this is breaking my heart rn.

Just finished the trials of Apollo and I NEED TO TALK ABOUT IT
These books were so different to me because they directly revolved around a topic Rick clearly wanted to touch - abuse. Specifically, familial abuse. Personally I think he’d done it gracefully in a way that really sinks in for me now, but I’m not a victim of abuse and don’t pretend to understand the subject.
Regardless, I think the way Rick wrote Apollo, Lester, was absolute perfection. There’s an art to writing a literal god in first person perspective, and have him be one of the most human characters in the entire franchise.
Lester STRUGGLES. And he’s not perfect at all, he doesn’t even begin to understand everything at the start - not the world, not consequences, not the stakes and not the people around him. But fuck he learns, he learns the hard way, the only way, by doing. And it’s not a linear journey either - between book 1 and his more or less lucid identity in book 5, he goes back and forth between learning, and relapsing to his old ways, and learning again, and trusting and understand and rising victorious in all the confusion. He doesn’t shy away from his emotions - he cries a lot, and gets frustrated, and laughs. He learns to feel for other people. But he also learns to heal himself. And he does it by helping others heal, too.
To me, this red thread tying the books together by a common serious subject, made the reading somehow more whole. I can’t explain it, but Apollo slowly verbalising (well, thinking), realising there are similarities between his relationship with Zeus to Meg’s relationship with Nero, was so satisfying. Although I feel like “satisfying” might be a bit of a harsh word. Mostly I felt proud of him. I /felt/ for him, so very much, for so long. He’s likeable because he’s so human, and that includes both his silly and tragic sides, because these coexist within all of us. And I think he as a character encompassed that beautifully.
Reading that last book, expecting a showdown of sorts between Apollo and his father, and receiving a short conversation, an understanding, instead, was amazing. Because that’s Rick’s way of showing us what’s important. No use trying to fix what we can’t, what isn’t our responsibility to fix, what makes us miserable. Humans have this natural ability to rise from their own disasters and forge out of them their own paths in life. And Apollo did just that. It took him time, but that’s how it goes for all of us. And instead of fighting Zeus, he chose happiness. He chose focusing on what’s important, his old hobbies, his friends.
In a way, I’m bittersweet- I wish he didn’t have to stay at Olympus. I wish he could spend as much time as he’d like on earth. But the thing is, a god is what he /is/. But now, he understands for the first time that he gets to pick what kind of god he should be.
And he chose the human kind.

the fact that we get to watch percy and annabeth’s relationship develop while knowing how they end up at the end of the series has me shaking like a dog. the boy who drools in his sleep is going to become one of, if not the most powerful demigods and he’s going decline godhood for the girl that pushed him in the lake to prove her theory and they don’t even know it yet

[Spoilers for Episode 5/the Ares & Tunnel of Love episode below]
…hey why did people complain about Annabeth seeing the Fates instead of Percy even tho:
a) a new viewer would have no idea what the meaning of the scene is in either the book or the show. In the book, you get Percy’s confusion. In the show, you get Annabeth’s dread. Tell me, which is more ominous? My money’s on option 2
b) it contributes to her fear of abandonment we’ve seen built up throughout the series (which is not a new thing, she had this in the books too)
c) she tells him anyway, and Grover still explains it to him, and just like the book, he calls them “a bunch of old ladies” and dismisses their importance
d) “I can’t believe it but the Fates were right. There’s no getting around this…maybe this is something you can’t dodge forever” aka clearly his casual attitude earlier was a mask, and he’s been thinking about it in the hours between then and the chair scene!

i know that nemesis appearing as gaea would have probably been confusing to both characters and readers but is that not who hazel and leo actually would want revenge on the most? isn't that why they're there at all? also while i'm pondering. why didn't she help them in an act of revenge? she just helped them undergo their business.

One thing which genuinely bothers me is Annabeth's perception in the fandom. How she's seen as this cold, stoic, emotionless, reserved and intimidating girl. When in reality, she's a character full of love.
Annabeth, who immediately cried and felt attached to Cerberus after playing with him for a few minutes because she wouldn't get to play with him again.
Annabeth, whose deepest desire, which the Sirens lured her with, is saving Luke and having a good relationship with both her parents.
Annabeth, who believed in Luke's goodness, even after all the countless terrible things he did simply because she had faith in his humanity.
Annabeth, who cried in Percy's arms before entering the labyrinth and refused to reveal the last line of the prophecy because it said to lose a love worse than death and the idea of losing any of her friends is too painful, heartbreaking and worse than dying.
Annabeth, who kissed Percy before parting with him in St. Helens because if he's going to die, she at least wants him to die knowing she loved him.
Annabeth, who took a poisoned knife for Percy during the war because she'd rather die herself than let him die.
Annabeth, who convinced Luke to switch sides by reminding him of the promise of family he gave her. Which in turn, influenced Luke's decision to end himself to destroy Kronos. Hello, she saved the world with the power of love.
Annabeth, who spent months after months losing sleep and searching desperately for Percy when he went missing.
Annabeth, who kissed Percy to eternity in public at their reunion, not caring what anyone is going to say or think. An asteroid could've hit the earth, and she wouldn't have cared.
Annabeth, who told Percy “I love you” when falling in Tartarus because if she was going to die, she wanted them to be her last words.
Annabeth Chase is a sweetheart, who has always felt things deeply and she's so full of love. And I think it's time we let go of the “cold-hearted annabeth” headcanon because it's not true, that's not her.

percy is the type of boyfriend who casually puts his hand over the table corner when annabeth bends down from her chair to pick something up, because he doesn’t want her to hit her back on the corner when she comes back up
he’s also the type of boyfriend who puts his hand on her back and steers her if she’s distractedly looking down at something while they’re walking, because he doesn’t want her to walk into something or someone
and he does these things without even thinking

I also like the connection that Sally had with the Medusa myth which will make the later events when she uses Medusa’s head hit that much harder.
also OBSESSED with the changes that were made to the medusa scene. the way it honored her story and made her out to not truly be a “monster” just because she was cursed yet still gave her the ability to be a threat to the trio which allowed the story to continue with the original plot was all great. also percy sending her head off to olympus in an attempt to reconcile with grover and annabeth felt like a much more personal and trio centric reason for him to send it off. i rlly liked it.

one of the subtle details that I personally find fun in PJO is how Percy spends like two books noting how Annabeth is taller than him, and then finally that he hit a growth spurt and ended up taller than her. and also the note about how later, he’s one inch shorter than Jason. Percy’s totally just a tad bit insecure about his height.
but then there’s a subtle implication in all of that of Percy possibly finally ending up taller than Annabeth because he started going to CHB. Like, there’s some implication that Annabeth is tall to begin with (particularly given how Magnus is described as tall, it’s probably family genetics) and that she’s very physically fit from growing up at CHB, but also we know that CHB has the whole food thing where all the food at CHB is like, all-natural and whatever. And we know that Percy grew up with Sally struggling financially and Gabe explicitly neglecting him. So there’s that secondary implication that Percy finally hit his growth spurt after he got regular access to some nice good-quality food :,)

When we finally make it to confirmed romantic Percabeth and Athena pulls the “I don’t approve of your relationship with my daughter” bs card, we’re going to watch Percy’s war flashbacks in real time a split second before he says the equivalent of “DISRESPECTFULLY, choke” as he proceeds to turn down godhood and launch himself into hell.
It didn’t hit as hard in the books but the tv adaption of the Echidna sequence? Athena punishing Medusa because of Poseidon and then punishing Annabeth because she can’t punish Percy? Percy “Annabeth would push me down a flight of stairs” Jackson uno-reversing and pushing her into the arch stairwell because he knows what sort of bullshit is it is to be punished for something you didn’t do by a [step]parent who’s made you desperate for their approval? We haven’t even made it out of book one and Percy has already shown Olympus just how much he does not care about them, but especially when it comes to the safety of his friends.
