Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 🤍
oh gosh babe thank you. I have only within the past year or so become open about my fic writing and openly proud about it, so this is a nice ask to get 🥰🥰 This was hard to do because if I've posted it, I'm proud of it. So I'm actually basically very proud of everything I've published in the past 5 years, but here are some I'm extra pleased with
For the Birds Philip Marlowe/Terry Lennox, written in 2016!
I'm pretty proud of all my Marlowe fics, honestly, and really am tinkering at Marlowe/Terry fics all the time. Of the published ones, I like this one best. The slightly melancholic nature of it, the hazy romance, Marlowe looking at guys much younger than himself who aren't scared to be in love and opening up himself to try it too... I love writing in that period where Marlowe and Terry are having drinks and nothing has gone wrong yet, and this is one of those + fake relationship stuff (fun trope to write!)
And Back The Mummy 2017, Nick Morton/Chris Vail, written in 2017!
this fandom is small and niche but I (brag) do think I wrote the best fic in it. this movie was full of potential and I had a lot of fun unpacking some of the implications of that world. What if your boyfriend brought you back from the dead and now you're kinda fucked up and weird and he's VERY fucked up and weird but you're all you've got. The concepts.... 🤌🤌
Route 117 The Lost Boys/Stephen King's The Body, what if Ace Merrill was David, written 2017
This is just a concept and execution I'm really proud of, brought to you by Kiefer Sutherland being insane hot in the 80s, and me reading a lot of Stephen King and going... yes this disaffected, horrible boy who needs a dad could become a disaffected, horrible vampire boy with a dad
Crabapple Crabs MASH, Hawkeye/Trapper + Hawkeye/BJ, written 2022!
Undeniably proud of this one. Impossible not to be. My big contribution to MASHblr. This big fic that's really mean to BJ, is deeply HawkTrap Endgame, and is deeply steeped in MASH Goes to Maine. Ben Majorbaby, this one is for you and because of you and you made it better, and I'm very proud of the result. Someday I'll finish the prequel HawkTrap fic and that will be for you completely.
Hey Lover Won't You Treat Me Right Perry Mason/Pete Strickland/Hamilton Burger, written 2023!
It would be wrong not to include my big Perry Mason threeway fic. I do not really feel confident writing smut, so this was a big leap for me and I'm very proud of how it turned out! Perry Mason is everything to me and I am proud to have written the first threeway fic for our little fandom 🙏🙏

Hi! Would you say David was obsessed with Michael or had real feelings for him? I saw a girl talking once about how David, even after his brothers getting killed, still talks to Michael to "stop fighting him" and still asks him to join them. I was thinking about that and I wondered if this was just a form to David to tricky him again or he was really trying to convince Michael to give up and stay with him? And if so, would it be because of feelings or because he hates to not get what he wants?
Real talk? 100% honest opinion? David is a repressed bisexual wreck and this movie is as gay as the Fourth of July.
Now I feel like I’ve touched on this a little bit in some of these previous “deep dive” questions (thank you guys so much for continuing to send me these I swear I am on cloud nine right now) but honestly what I personally feel the characters themselves would realistically do/feel/how they would react to things as real beings with complex emotions/backstories, and how this 1h 38m horror/comedy movie treats their reactions are not the same thing.
Look, as much as we love the characters and as writers and fans have expanded on them as much as we can and actually care about them as individual characters with like, actual thoughts and feelings--they’re the monster antagonists of the film. This was also the 80s. They’re not really meant to have complex motivations.
Even when I read the prequel script Schumacher literally cares so little about developing the personalities of the other lost boys that aren’t David he just kind of throws their names in at random when they have to talk, and I know that because at the end when the fifth lost boy that was just in the prequel script had died, they still gave him a line postmortem because they literally don’t care who says the line--they just plug their names in at random.
All the personality we get for the other boys comes 100% from the actors, from how they developed their characters. Yes, they get direction and I’m sure Schumacher had an idea of what he wanted for each one, but I think it was only at a surface level (I would murder someone for a copy of Lost in the Shadow so I could read more about this, but c'est la vie). They’re background props in the movie; I mean I don’t even remember hearing Dwayne’s name in the movie. He’s got like, maybe three lines? One of which we all just choose to ignore as writers because it’s so out of character for him. (I cringe whenever I get to that scene in the movie every. single. time) It took the actors actually caring about their roles and trying to develop them further for us to be able to pick up on all the little things and wring out what personality we can from their performances.
So as far as the David/Michael dynamic. I would say David 100% has feelings for Michael. No doubt in my mind. This movie is gay to the max. I already talked about the reasoning behind David changing Michael in relation to Max. I think he brought him into the cave with the intention of having Michael be Star’s first kill, but I think David and the boys genuinely enjoyed hanging out with/messing with Michael and on a whim David changed his mind and decided to turn him. But if we’re being real I think David was repressing a mad crush he was forming on Michael at the same time.
Tumblr media
That is the face of a conflicted bisexual man who’s suddenly realizing, “Oh no, he’s hot.” I don’t make the rules.
Seriously though, I think David genuinely had feeling for Michael. It’s not like David and the boys hang out with other guys on a regular basis aside from each other, and I see their relationship with each other in a more brotherly way rather than sexual, particularly when you look at their relationship from the prequel script (are you guys tried of me talking about the prequel script yet?). So for David, this would be the first time in probably 80ish years that he’s actually just hung out and had fun with another guy that wasn’t one of his brothers. He’s probably feeling a lot of repressed feelings coming to the surface and Michael’s a good time, so why not? Plus he’s a snack. So I agree with the movie on this part, I think David would have gone through with turning him for his own reasons (not because of Max).
But after his brothers were killed I don’t think David would have still been trying to recruit him. I think the movie is sincere in this line though.
I think movie!David is still trying to get Michael on his side, most likely because of Max (again, from my previous post, I really think the secret villain reveal hurt the characters in the movie more than it helped) because Max still wants Michael to join them because he wants Lucy.
I think if we’re being fair to the character though, no matter how heartless people might think David is, even when it comes to the other lost boys, (I’ve talked about that too) he’s not. This is an 80s horror movie, this is before the villains/monsters were allowed to be complex and have real feelings (fun fact: that tear David sheds in the movie after Marko dies and the Frogs/Sam flee the cave? It was actually because the glass contacts Kiefer had to wear. You could only keep those things in your eyes for like 5 minutes before they dried your eyes out really bad, hence the tear; but Schumacher liked that it fit the scene so he kept it in the movie. That’s the only reason we get even an inkling of emotion from them post-Marko death.) so we don’t get to see the complexity of his character as much as we’d like. I do think Kiefer, the absolute king he is, really did an amazing job of trying to throw in a lot of layers to the character.
So to wrap up my rant here, I personally think there are two answers to your question.
I think, in the movie, David is genuinely still trying to get Michael to join him. Whether it be for Max’s benefit or not I can’t say, but I think, for the sake of the movie, yeah, that’s what that scene was trying to do. I think movie!David is totally crushing on Michael and that’s why he turns him, but I don’t think that has anything to do with why he’s still trying to get him to join after the boys are dead. Pretty sure that ship sailed; it’s all business now.
But if this character was allowed to exist outside the sphere of a 90 minute movie? If he was allowed to deviate from furthering the agenda of the “secret villains” plot? No. No way in hell would David still be okay with Michael after what he’d done to his boys. He’d being flaying him alive.
Thank you so much for the question! It was such a good one! ❤️ Feel free to send me any more! I am always down to answer these kinds of questions. (I’m genuinely surprised anyone actually want me opinion on this stuff. It’s bonkers. You guys are amazing.)

The Craft: How a Teenage Weirdo Based on a Real Person Became an Icon
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
“We Are The Weirdos, Mister.” A phrase you’ll find printed over t-shirts, pin badges, mugs, earrings, tote bags, necklaces, and more all over the internet. It’s the most iconic line from The Craft, a film released 25 years ago that still has a rabid following today. For anyone unfamiliar with The Craft, it’s a line spoken by Fairuza Balk’s Nancy, an inferno in black lippy and sunglasses, the de facto leader of a homemade coven made up of outsiders who have taken the raw deal the world has given them and rejected it by learning to harness the power of nature. This line is everything. We are no longer going to be victims, it says. We will no longer be afraid. We reclaim our space, our power. That we are four teenaged girls will no longer mean we have to watch out for ‘weirdos’ – because it is us who are the weirdos. Mister.
“Nancy is the one everybody wants to be,” says Peter Filardi, the man who created Nancy, Rochelle, Bonnie, and Sarah all those years ago, chatting to Den of Geek from his home, an original poster for The Craft peaking out from behind him on the wall. Next to it is a poster for Chapelwaite, the series Filardi is currently showrunning with his brother Jason, based on Stephen King’s short story, “Jerusalem’s Lot,” a prequel to Salem’s Lot.
“Nancy is the one who is particularly put upon and who finds the power to get revenge or get justice and is going to do that with no apologies. I think it’s how we all envision ourselves or would want to see ourselves, I guess. Here we are 25 years later. Why do you think we’re still talking about it?”
It’s an interesting question because we very much still are talking about The Craft. With Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, A Discovery of Witches, His Dark Materials, and of course last year’s remake of The Craft, we appear to very much still be in the season of the witch, but none is quite as resonant and impactful as the original The Craft. Watching it back 25 years after its release, it’s still just as relevant.
The very first script that Filardi sold was Flatliners, the story of arrogant, hot-shot medical students who plan to discover what happens after you die by “flatlining” for increasing lengths of time. Filardi’s script prompted a bidding war and the movie became a big hit, starring Hollywood’s hottest: Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, and William Baldwin.
After Flatliners, Filardi had been working on a script about real life teenage Satanist Ricky Kasso, (“He was one of the first to really put the hallucinogenics together with the music and the theology and then sort of brew them all up into this really volatile cocktail,” Filardi explains), so when producer Doug Wick approached him about another supernatural project, Filardi was game.
“He said he would like to either do a haunted house story or something to do with teenage witches. And because I happened to be working on what I was working on I was pretty well-schooled in earth magic and natural magic and Satanism and all sorts of stuff. And we just started talking, and we hit it off, and we decided to develop and create The Craft together,” Filardi recalls.
At the time Wick had just two full producer credits to his name – for Working Girl and Wolf – but he would go on to produce swathes of heavy hitters including Hollow Man, Jarhead, The Great Gatsby, and win the best picture Oscar for Gladiator. Meanwhile, Andrew Fleming, director of The Craft and co-writer of the screenplay, had made horror thriller Bad Dreams and comedy Threesome, and would go on to make several comedy movies as well as many hit TV shows – he’s currently working on season two of Netflix’s popular Emily in Paris.
Filardi’s story was always going to be about women, and it was always going to be about outsiders, the memories of high school still fresh enough for him to remember the pain. “I’m sure it’s like this for every kid. You have memories from those high school years of horrible things that happened to people around you, or were said or done and just the petty cruelties,” he says. “I’m glad I’m an old man now!” (He’s not, he’s 59).
Rewatching and it’s certainly striking how much empathy you feel for the girls. Sarah (Robin Tunney), who is the audience’s way in to the movie, lost her mother during childbirth and has battled mental health problems, even attempting suicide. Recently moved to a new neighborhood with her dad and step mother, she is instantly the outsider at her new school, and is immediately treated abhorrently by popular boy Chris (a pre-Scream Skeet Ulrich), who dates her and then spreads rumors that they slept together. Rochelle (Rachel True) is a keen diver, subjected to overt racist bullying by a girl on the swim team, while Bonnie (Neve Campbell) hides away because of extreme scarring she has all over her body. Before Sarah arrives, the three dabble in magic and protect themselves as best they can from the horrors of high school by telling people they are witches and keeping them at arm’s length. It’s the arrival of Sarah, though, a “natural” witch with some serious power, that turns things around.
“I think that maybe traditionally Hollywood would have done a version where the women were witches like Lost Boys,” Filardi says. “The women were witches, and they had this power, and they’re the dark overlords of their school or something like that. And that’s exactly the opposite of what worked for me and how I thought magic works in general.
“Magic has always historically been a weapon of the underclass, for poor people… Think of England. People of the heath, who lived out in the country… The heathens, they didn’t have a king or an army or the church even behind them. They would turn to magic. And that’s kind of what I saw for our girls. For real magic to work, you have the three cornerstones of need and emotion and knowledge. And I hate magic movies where somebody has a power and they just do this and the magic happens. I think it’s much more interesting if the magic comes from an emotional need, a situation that really riles up the power within.”
These witches aren’t evil and they aren’t even anti-heroes. Instead, this is pure wish fulfilment for anyone who’s ever been bullied, or overlooked, or been dealt a particularly tough hand, and this level of empathy comes across hard in the film. Watching now and so many of the themes are so current with reference to issues of racism and the emergence of the #MeToo movement.
“I did not write it as a feminist piece per se,” says Filardi. “I really just wrote it as an empathetic human being, I think.”
There’s extreme empathy dripping throughout the script, but don’t mistake that for pity. The Craft deals in female empowerment and just plain fun. It’s here that one of The Craft’s enduring conflicts arises. Are you Team Sarah or are you Team Nancy?
The correct answer of course, is Team Nancy…
“It’s always harder to be the good guy or the good girl,” laughs Filardi.
After all, before Sarah shows up, the other three are doing fine – surviving, doing minor spells, and looking out for each other. The influx of power Sarah brings allows the group to up their game and together they each ask for a gift from “Manon,” the (fictional) deity who represents all of nature that they worship in the film. Bonnie wants to heal her scars, Rochelle wants the racism to stop, Nancy wants the power of Manon, but Sarah casts a love spell on Chris. Sarah is either taking revenge on Chris, or she’s forging a relationship without consent, and it’s a move which eventually leads to Chris’s death.
Meanwhile, Nancy is someone who just refuses to be a victim, despite the fact that of the four she’s clearly had the toughest life, living in a trailer with her mum and her abusive stepdad. Nancy won’t allow the audience to pity her. Nancy doesn’t let things happen to her, she makes her own choices, whether they are good ones or not. When newly empowered Nancy is running red lights, with Rochelle and Bonnie whooping in the back, and Sarah telling her it’s all gone a bit far, “Oh shut up, Sarah” feels like the right response. While Sarah might be technically correct, we are rooting for these girls to be allowed the pure joy of something they have created between them.
Nancy is an amazing creation, and Filardi says he couldn’t have anticipated how much the character would resonate.
“I did not envision the great look that Andy Fleming brought to her,” he smiles. “But Nancy was inspired by a real girl, whose older brother lived in a trailer in their backyard, and just had a hard go of it. She’s true to the one I wrote. She always embodied the earth element of fire. Each of the girls is their own earth element. There’s earth, wind, water, fire. And you can pretty much guess who’s who…”
We could speculate but it’s perhaps more fun to let the audience decide for themselves.
“Nancy in the beginning was always the constructive aspect of that element. She’s the light in the fire in the dark woods that draws the girls together,” he explains. “When she’s all passion and raw nerve, she’s very much like fire, but then when she crosses Sarah and gets overwhelmed with the power of her new abilities, she becomes the destructive side of that same element and burns the whole thing up. But she’s a fantastic character. I think that Fairuza Balk just elevated Nancy to a whole other level. I guess that’s what happens when you’re blessed with the right actor for the right part.”
Exactly who the true protagonist of The Craft is is something Filardi still contemplates. What is notable is that though, yes, Nancy, Bonnie, and Rochelle do at one point try to, um, kill Sarah and make it look like suicide, which isn’t a very sisterly thing to do, they never really become true villains. By the end, the only fatalities are sex pest Chris and Nancy’s abusive step father, and both deaths could reasonably be considered accidental. While Bonnie and Rochelle are stripped of their powers, they aren’t further punished, it’s only Nancy who gets a raw deal. Driven to distraction by her surfeit of power, we find her ranting in a mental hospital strapped to a bed.
Filardi’s ending was different, though he won’t be drawn on details.
“The original ending was different. I’ve never really gone into the detail of what the original ending was. Well, the original ending was just different…” he says, mulling over what he might say. “So, let’s see. Well, Chris always died… and it was just very different,” he hesitates. “I don’t really get into it because there’s no real sense. It is what it is. I always like in a movie… Having two different children and you love them both for different reasons, but I would have never wanted to be hard on the girls in the final analysis in any way thematically.”
One element of the script that saw slight changes was the motivation of Rochelle, after the casting of Rachel True.
“To be honest, I think she was the exact same character. She was picked on by the swimmers. There was an added element that she had an eating disorder. She used to vomit into a mayonnaise jar and hide it on the top shelf of a bedroom closet. But other than that, she was really the same character,” he says. “Andy Fleming and Doug Wick, I don’t know who came up with the idea, but they cast Rachel and she added this whole other element to it, the racial element, which I think it was great and I think totally appropriate.”
Though Filardi didn’t work on the remake and hasn’t actually seen it, he’s able to see for himself, first hand, how well the film has aged and how it continues to endure for young women – he has teenage daughters of his own.
“I see them going through all the same stuff that I watched girlfriends going through. And it hasn’t changed all that much,” he says ruefully.
“It’s funny. For years, they had no idea what I did for a living. I think they just thought I hung around in the basement. And one daughter was like… She was going to school with somebody whose father was in a rock band or something, ‘Nobody in this house does anything interesting. Everything’s boring.’ And it was around Halloween and they were showing The Craft at the Hollywood Forever cemetery. I took them to the cemetery and it was great. There were boys dressed in Catholic high school uniforms and women all in black and with blankets and candles and wine and snacks. Amidst the tombstones, they set up a huge screen and showed the film. So, that’s when they first saw it. And it was really fun. A really nice thing to share with my daughters.”
Things don’t change that much. High school is still horrible. Magic is still tantalizing. The outfits are still fabulous. And Nancy is still a stone cold legend. The Craft is an enduring celebration of outsider culture that we’ll probably still be talking about in 25 years to come. After all, most of us, at one time or another, feel like the weirdos.
“I think of it as the story about the power of adolescent pain and self-empowerment. I think of beautiful young people who are just picked upon or put in positions they shouldn’t be or don’t deserve to be, and having the ability to fight back and weather it and survive,” says Filardi when we ask him what he’s most proud of.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
“I’m also proud of all the great contributions that the other talented people brought to the script. All I did was a script, but you have actors and directors and producers and art directors and production designers who just… Everybody seems to me to have brought their A-game. I didn’t come up with Nancy’s great look. Other people get all that credit. Like you said, you see her on t-shirts. So, so many people just brought so many things. I guess I’m just proudest to think that a bunch of strangers come together and connect to the message of the piece, and together just make something memorable all these 25 years later.”

AN: New story that I’ve had in my head since I had winter break from school. Gotta love Kiefer Sutherland as David in “Lost Boys”. Never underestimate the power of a vampire with a mullet. Hope you all enjoy!
Warnings: none that I know of
“Don’t look now,” my best friend said, elbowing me in the ribs. “But that guy over there is checking you out.” I rolled my eyes and rubbed my side where her elbow had made contact with my ribs.
“Yeah right.” I snarked. I turned around to walk out of the video store when I noticed the blond guy standing by the entrance looking at me. “Wait is it the blond guy? With the blue eyes?” I swallowed as I looked over my shoulder at my friend. She nodded as she watched me with wide eyes. I slowly turned back to the guy that was watching me from the entrance. Taking a deep breath, I walked forward until I had nearly passed him. Without looking back or making eye contact with him, I walked out of the store. Once we had made it down to the carnival portion of the boardwalk, my friend and I broke into giggles.
“I can’t believe that you just did that!” My friend roared with laughter. I doubled over with laughter before hitting her arm.
“You should have warned me before I caught him staring! I can’t believe that you clocked him first!” I giggled as we got our laughter under control. Once we were sure we wouldn’t make a scene as we walked down the boardwalk, we started in the direction of the food court.
“Why would I warn you first?” She nudged me again. “Cute guy watching you.” She shivered a little. “I would give anything for someone like that to look at me the way he was looking at you (Y/N).” I rolled my eyes again and walked up to the register to place an order.
“Sure.” I shot over my shoulder. “Can I get a pretzel and a medium soda?” I handed over the cash and moved off to the side with my friend. “You know I hate you sometimes.” My friend snickered before her eyes went wide. Her hand flew up to cover her mouth and she started quickly tapping on my arm that was resting on the counter. “What? What’s wrong?” She wouldn’t say anything but kept looking over my shoulder. “(F/N), what is wrong?” My friend shook her head and quickly turned away from me, leaving me standing there waiting for my food with a confused look on my face. “Where are you going?!” I called after her. I shook my head as I watched her retreating form.
“I think she’s just attempting to give us some space.” I jumped at the smooth voice that sounded from behind me. I quickly turned around to see the same blues eyes belonging to the guy I saw watching me at the video store. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.” He chuckled. I let out a quiet chuckle at the look on his face.
“That’s alright. I just did not expect to see you again.” I pushed a stray piece of hair out of my face. “I’m (Y/N).” Sticking out my hand, I smiled at the boy while blushing a little bit.
“David.” He shook my hand and leaned against the counter a little more comfortably. “So….” He took a quick look around and seemed to be fishing for something to say. “Come here often?” I giggled at his line. He lowered his eyes a little and let out a breathy laugh. “Yeah I know. Terrible line.”
“It’s fine.” I smiled at him. David looked up at me through his eyelashes. “I’m serious David. It’s fine.” David finally looked at me fully. “To answer your question I do come here often.” David chuckled and smiled. “What about you?”
“Yeah. Pretty much every night.” David took a look around the boardwalk. “I’m normally here with some friends though.” I nodded.
“Yeah. Me too.” I pointed a thumb over my shoulder. “But looks like we both got ditched.”
“Looks like it.” David agreed.
“Pretzel and a medium soda!” I turned to grab my order before turning back to David.
“Well since we both got ditched and it would be entirely silly for us to spend time on our own on the boardwalk….” David trailed off. I smiled as I nodded my head.
“Why not?” I asked as David turned away.
“Then right this way.” David joked. I soon fell into step next to him. “Is there anything you desperately want to do?” I shook my head as I started to eat my food.
“Not really.” I shrugged. “I mean aside from eventually going on the Ferris wheel but that can always wait until later.” David led me over to the picnic benches by the beach. We took seats across from each other as I continued to eat. “So tell me about yourself David.” He shrugged.
“Not much to tell.” He responded as he leaned over and tried to take a piece of my pretzel. I gently swatted his hand. “Born and raised in Santa Carla. Live on my own with some of my friends.” A shrug of his shoulders brought his hand back to his lap. “Cause a little trouble here and there but that’s about it.” I smiled over at David. “What about you?” I handed a piece of the pretzel to him as I shrugged.
“Same here. I live with my friend. Work at the video store from time to time. Otherwise I usually just hang out with (F/N). Either on the boardwalk or somewhere else in town.” I glanced over at David.
“I haven’t seen you at the video store before.” I shot David a look. I had definitely seen him in the video store before. “Ok ok.” David held his hands up in defense. “Working at the video store before.” I laughed which caused David to smile.
“I usually work mornings and early afternoons. Before Max comes in.” I responded. “Then I tend to go back later to make sure Max doesn’t need my help throughout the night.”
“I take it he never needs your help?” David asked. Chuckling, I shook my head.
“No he never does need my help at night.” I smiled over at David. He smiled back. “But that’s alright because then I get to hang out on the boardwalk all night instead.” I shrugged. “Hey, check this.” I nodded at the trash can that was behind David.
“Bet you can’t make it.” David said with a chuckle, looking back at me from having looked over his shoulder.
“Bet I can.” I shot back, leaning a little close to David. He leaned in towards me and smiled again.
“If you miss, spend the night with me. Do whatever it is I want to do.” David wavered. I cocked an eyebrow.
“And if I make it?” I asked. David tilted his head slightly.
“If you make it, I’ll do whatever it is you want to do.” He shrugged. “If you want me to leave you alone, I’ll go. If not then I’ll do whatever it is you want.” I nodded and took David’s outstretched hand.
“Deal.” We shook on it and David slid over on the bench enough that I would have a better shot at the trash can. I picked up the cup and aimed at the can. I took a deep breath and aimed before throwing the cup. We both watched as time seemed to slow down as the cup arched in the air before hitting the side of the can and bouncing off the rim. My face fell and David’s smile grew as the cup hit the floor. We turned to look at each other at the same time and I sighed. “Alright. What did you wanna do for the rest of the night?” David leaned towards me again with a smile that sent a shiver down the back of my spine. Not a bad shiver. A good one.
“Something you would never expect.” He said. I rolled my eyes and stood up. “But first I think you said something about eventually going on the Ferris wheel?” He stood up with me.
“I can always come back and do that some other time.” I shrugged it off. “Let’s do whatever it was that you wanted to do.” David nodded and offered me his hand. I took it as we weaved our way through the crowded boardwalk. There were more tourists now that the sun had nearly completely gone down. We soon ended up by the various booths that lined the outskirts of the boardwalk. David let go of my hand and got on one of the motorcycles that was sitting next to the booth. I jumped as it started up and David smiled as he let the bike warm up.
“You scared of a motorcycle (Y/N)?” He laughed as he smiled up at me. I shook my head.
“I just didn’t expect it to be that loud is all.” I said with a shake of my head. I shifted from foot to foot as I decided if I should get on the bike or not.
“Come on (Y/N). It's just a motorcycle. It can’t hurt you.” David coaxed as he watched my reaction. I bit my lip as I thought this through. I was getting on a dangerous bike with someone that I had literally just met going who knows where. And on top of that, I was leaving (F/N) behind on the boardwalk without any idea about where I had gone. Then again she had been trying to get me to be more adventurous. Shaking my head I finally took a step forward towards David and the bike.
“Are you sure about this?” I was standing next to David on the bike. He balanced it perfectly as he nodded and watched my reaction.
“If you are really worried about (Y/N), we can do something else?” David offered, his expression softening. I nodded.
“Alright then.” I put my hand on his shoulder and swung my leg over the bike. David turned his head and I could of sworn I saw him smirk as I made myself comfortable behind him. I wasn’t sure where to put my hands until David pulled my arms tight around his waist.
“Just hold on tight.” David whispered over his shoulder, giving my hand a squeeze. “It’s going to be a fast ride.” Before I could respond, David had revved the engine and taken off in a flurry of dust. I held onto him tighter and pressed my face into his back. After a while, I managed to pull myself away from him and look at our surroundings fly past us. I started to smile and when David looked over his shoulder at me, I saw him smiling too. As David looked back in front of him, he let out a yell of excitement. Little did I know the ride I was in for.

Marko would be able to do hoedown throw down by Miley Cyrus. He would’ve listen to that bop and had the whole choreography down, david would end up shutting it down by the tenth month of Marko playing the song.

Is it Opposite Day?
Poly!lost boys x GN! reader
Now tonight was like any other night, but Paul caught a wonder scent that he never smelt before on the boardwalk, David was confused on what Paul meant until he swore he got a sniff of something good, the same had happened to Dwayne and marko. All four boys were confused one why this thing whatever it was was causing them to react like this, that’s when it hit David, it’s their mate the one they were never wanting to meet because of this lifestyle. Marko was already gone before David could tell the boys, usually David would be pissed about this but Marko is more chaotic than some would like but if Marko brought back their mate then the boys could talk to them! Dwayne was looking at Paul and David while thinking about all the possibilities that could go wrong with their mate. These poor boys won’t know what to do if they get rejected. Marko on the other hand was having the time of his life with their mate, he was chatting away with them until the flirty comment happened “you know blondie you remind me of a cat, with the way you act. But you know what? You can be my cat if you like.” As (y/n) smirked. The poor boy didn’t know what to do if he was still alive he would turn red as a tomato but he just stood there as (Y/n) started walking away from him. The next night, Paul decided he can get their little mates to blush, oh boy was he wrong. (Y/n) was looking around at some clothes that the twisted sister look alike would love. Paul walked over and started talking to (Y/n) when he did his pickup line, (Y/n) replied with “hmm you seem like a man whore, but you know what why don’t you be my man whore.” With a winked that left Paul not working. The next night Dwayne was sent to get their mate to come to the bikes with him, now Dwayne knew he wouldn’t have trouble getting them to follow since he was quiet, mysterious, tall and dark. Dwayne saw them and started making conversation about the book they had with them, (Y/n) kept on giggling while Dwayne was playing with their (long/short) hair, what Dwayne didn’t expect was (Y/N) saying a pickup line about books with a smirked "Boy, you must be a library book, because I can't stop checking you out." Then they just walked away while Dwayne just stood there confused on what to do so he went back to where David and the others were. David was getting frustrated at this point because their mate was making this harder than needed to be. David decided that tonight he would handle this, when he saw (Y/N) he went up to them smirking while about to say a pick up line that was when (Y/n) smiled back at him “you know? I was looking for an ice prince tonight to spend some time with.” David stood there stunned until (y/n) started walking over to where the boys and their bikes were. (Y/n) looked back at David with a smile asking “so what’s the plan for tonight?” David looked at his boys and smirked when he got them to ride with him to the cave
I’m so sorry for how long this took to come out but here’s one of the stories for you!! @whaturcapableof

Pirate lost boys?? Like David is the captain of the ship and it’s just Dwayne Paul and marko as his crew. Along the way they meet star and laddie they end up joining the crew. David meets Michael and is like “yea this idiot is joining as well” so it’s just them going around causing chaos? Yes? No?

Poly!lost boys x gender neutral reader
For a request maybe poly!lost boys x s/o and how the boys would react to us becoming Laddies mother(or father whatever you’re comfortable with) figure? Sorry, but Laddie is my baby😭
Of course babe you got it!
It was like any other night with the boys and laddie on the boardwalk, while usually Star would have the small boy it was actually (Y/N) who was taking care of him. David didn’t really like the idea of (Y/N) having to take care of the kid while they fed but Star was out with Michael on a date so Dwayne suggested it since laddie loves them more than anything that includes the stuff bear he owns. (Y/N) has been taking care of Laddie since they met the boys in their own way but since that was two weeks ago that they spent time alone with the boy, they decided to have a nice movie night with Laddie. The movie night started out great for the two until (Y/N) realized that it was almost midnight, which was confirmed by a yawning Laddie sitting next to them, they decided to get a hot bath started for the boy so he can wash up and have a decent bath since he lives in a actual cave with four vampires who don’t know how to wash themselves in a tub or shower. Paul was the first one to the house out of the other three, he was sitting on the roof waiting for David, Dwayne and marko to show up, what he wasn’t expecting was his love to walk in with a cleaned Laddie. David and Dwayne ended up showing up when (Y/N) was reading a bedtime story to laddie while Paul was, according to him, feeling his heart beat fast because the love of their life was reading to the kid they all care about. Marko saw the other guys out on the roof while being confused he flew up to the window where the boys were, when he looked inside he saw (Y/N) tucking in Laddie and kissing his forehead goodnight now since the little kid was in their room for the night Marko decided to go and knock on the front door. (Y/N) knew who it was and opened the door, smiling when they saw their favorite curly blonde boyfriend who decided to give them a kiss on the cheek. After the curly blonde was the twisted sister look alike who they just absolutely love that tried to get a make out session out of them, after their twisted sister came their mysterious, tall, quiet boyfriend who is looking at them with so much adoration in his eyes who gave (Y/N) a forehead kiss. The platinum blonde who never showed that much affection out on the boardwalk on nights they were there looked at them then smirked before giving his favorite kitten a kiss on the cheek. That night, well morning, was spent in the room with blackout curtain with a mattress on the floor to fit all five bodies on it for a cuddle session while the boys were smiling like crazy because of how much love they can feel coming off of their mate for the small boy in the next room. Dwayne was the happiest out of the three because the boy he cares so much for now had another parental figure in his life. David, Paul and marko had one thing in common in their one little brain cell they shared, a baby with their mate. For now though watching their mate take care of Laddie was enough for the four vampires who had fallen asleep listening to the heartbeat of the love of their life.
Hope you like it @smenny ! It sucks because it’s been a while since I had done anything fanfic wise but still

Runaway bat
Poly!lost boys x Gn!reader
It was a normal night for the boys and Y/N while normally the group of five would be making jokes and figuring out what to do for the night. David had decided that night would be a perfect night to catch an attitude with Max before returning back to the group of four. Y/N was having the time of her life with the three boys, before David came back, but realized all of their moods changed from the normal moods while the poor thing didn’t realize what was happening David was walking over with the grumpy look he usually wore. David took one look at Y/N and sighed then went back to smoking his cigarette while Y/N wondered what could be wrong until they heard those words they weren’t ready to hear from her mates “I think it's time for you to turn.” The three other boys just nodded along with what David said to them, Dwayne stood there next to Y/N who in turn pushed the brunette away from them. Paul had decided to try and talk until Y/N spoke their mind “you know I’m not ready to turn yet David, you all know I’m not ready to turn, Hell I don’t even think I am ready!” Marko stood chewing on his gloved thumb while looking at the one they all care for but he didn’t know what to do or how to handle it. Poor boys, after Y/N had walked away from the group and went straight home, what they didn’t expect was the four following them home to make sure they got there safely. After the boys saw their little bat get home safely they all went back to the cave and went back to the area they all sleep in during the day. Unknowingly to the four sleeping vampire their mate were packing, they packed four suitcases with clothes and shoes and grabbed their keys, Y/N decide they were going to spend some time away from the boys so they are going to another state and spending time with her family in New Orleans while the boys decided to handle the situation on their own. The next night David, Dwayne, Paul and Marko all went to Y/N house to go and get them for the night but before any of them got their Dwayne to notice something was off, he couldn’t hear Y/N heart beat. Paul ran up to the door and started knocking when Y/N didn’t answer. He looked for the spare key that they told the boys where it was, Marko went up to the bedroom window and looked at the emptiness of the room. Marko floated back down over to David with sadness in his hazel eyes “they’re not home and everything looks empty I think they left David…” which caused David to look over at Dwayne who had a note in his hands. Y/N left for New Orleans and won't be back until the boys learn that they aren’t ready to turn yet. David growled at the fact that Y/N decided to run away, but he held sadness in his eyes. Dwayne spoked up “So riding to New Orleans now? Or wait until later?” With that David smirked while pulling a cigarette pack out of his coat “we ride tomorrow boys, we ride tomorrow. For now let’s go and get some dinner shall we?” This had all three boys hollering with joy.
Sorry for posting this so late and for it being short this is for @whaturcapableof so sorry for it being this late!

Stephen King's coming-of-age drama Stand By Me is a timeless tale of four friends, just as relevant today as it was on its initial release in 1986. The film is based off a novella by King called The Body, and was directed by Rob Reiner. It was received well by fans and had largely positive reviews, with critics praising the performances of the young stars. Reiner calls it the favorite of all his projects, and King loved the adaptation. But what would a 2021 version look like?
The story of the movie is told through the point of view of Gordie Lachance (Wil Wheaton), who, as an adult, reads in the newspaper that his childhood friend Chris (River Phoenix) has been killed. He begins to write a recollection of a childhood adventure with Chris and their friends Vern (Jerry O'Connell) and Teddy (Corey Feldman) in which they go on a quest to find the dead body of a teenager in their neighborhood who had gone missing. Some older teens led by the terrifying Ace Merrill (Kiefer Sutherland) also seek the body, wanting to claim the glory for locating the boy. Ace threatens, bullies, and belittles the younger boys, pushing them to their emotional limits. Gordie, who is mourning the death of his kind older brother Denny, finds the strength within to stand up to Ace, defending himself and his friends.

The drama touched audiences and remains a fan favorite, retaining its legacy over thirty years after its debut. Much of the magic of the film was credited to the casting, about which Wheaton said, "Rob Reiner found four young boys who basically were the characters we played." Were the film to be remade today, it would be necessary to recapture the striking chemistry and lovely acting that made Stand By Me so special.
Tumblr media
As the film's point of view character, the role of Gordie requires a lot of sensitivity and strength. Gordie is an imaginative, reflective boy who has lost the only family member who noticed and appreciated his talent for storytelling. At the tender age of 12, Gordie feels invisible in his own home, cast aside in favor of his athletic and charming older brother whose death has rocked his family. His father is not handling grief well, acting gruffly and dismissively toward Gordie, who just wants to be seen. Gordie feels like the shadow cast by his older brother will forever get in the way of his relationship with his parents. He seeks closeness with his friends, particularly Chris, who acts as his cheerleader, telling him that his parents simply don't know him, and that one day he'll be a great writer.
Wheaton's portrayal of Gordie was powerful and poignant, and it earned him a spot on VH1's "100 Greatest Kid Stars." The boy who replaces him would have to be a skilled actor and a bankable star, and Jacob Tremblay is both. At a young age, he has already garnered praise from critics for the dramatic heavy-hitter Room, and his performance in another King story, Doctor Sleep, was so effective that he disturbed all of his adult co-stars. Tremblay has shown enormous range and star power for one so young, and his winning relatability and potent depths would bring Gordie Lachance to a new generation.
Tumblr media
As the naïve, silly comic of the group, Vern is often picked on but is resilient enough to brush right by the taunts. He is the one who introduces the idea of the trip to the group, asking them if they want to go see a dead body. He was under the porch digging for a jar of pennies he had lost when he overheard his brother talking to a friend about spotting the dead body of Ray Brower. Vern's desire to find the body coincides with his yearning to be a town hero instead of a "town loser." He is so often dismissed and ignored that he seems keen to prove himself. At first glance, Vern may seem a little slow and merely there to be a source of comedic relief, but he just like the other boys is facing an unfamiliar and yawning future, and he is trying to reinvent himself via an act of bravado.
RELATED: How Old Are Stranger Things' Child Actors?
Stand By Me was O'Connell's very first film, and his breezy, natural skills are effortlessly presented. Similarly, Lonnie Chavis is relatively new on the scene but has already won audiences and adult co-stars over with his maturity and adaptability. A keen observer of life and the human condition, Chavis was able to dive into his roles with electric energy and a firm grasp on reality that won him a significant role on the hit show This Is Us. Chavis would be a fun, fresh face to experience on the silver screen.
Tumblr media
Teddy is perhaps the most tortured and erratic of the group. He suffers from a frightening home life with a father who has PTSD and takes the worst of his episodes out on Teddy, including an incident wherein he held Teddy's ear to the stove until it almost burned off. Despite this, Teddy venerates his father, holding sacred the fact that he "stormed the beaches of Normandy" in World War II. Teddy is often given over to fits of rage and sorrow, attempting suicide by standing in front of a train and getting into a screaming match with the man who runs the local dump. Teddy, in a way, is a symbol of the aftereffects of war, something still very close to home at the close of the 1950s when the film takes place. The window of innocence seen in the '50s would soon give way to the turmoil of the '60s, something that these young men are about to face along with adulthood.
Feldman was already a rising star when he appeared in Stand By Me, and the film stood as a testament to his position as an up-and-comer. His turn as Teddy Duchamp was truly incredible, marking a high point in the actor's career. Another such up-and-comer is Dylan Gage, who broke the hearts of audiences with his sweet, plaintive, and effective portrayal of young gay teen Gabe on the comedy Pen15. Fans of the show were gobsmacked and undone by Gage's performance as the middle-schooler coming to grips with his sexuality, finding the earnest performance gracefully executed. Gabe was also a theater actor, playing a sort of Edward Albee-esque character onstage across lead actor Maya Erskine, showing off his comedic ability and wonderful range.
Tumblr media
In the 1986 movie, the late River Phoenix played Chris Chambers. As the narrator, Gordie says of Chris, "He came from a bad family and everyone just knew he'd turn out bad...including Chris." Chris Chambers is the leader of the group and Gordie's best friend, but he has trouble seeing the light in himself as much as he sees it in other people. His father and brother are violent toward him, and he has become convinced that he is worthless and will never amount to anything. He struggles against the turmoil of lowered expectations, desiring to advance academically but not being permitted to due to a suspension from school and access to the economic security that his friend Gordie has. He tells Gordie that they are bound to go separate ways because Gordie, unlike the rest, will have the opportunity to go to college, and he won't want to hang with losers like them. In the end, it is revealed that Chris pushed himself to graduate high school, attend college, and become a lawyer. He bravely tries to intervene in a bar fight where he is stabbed to death.
RELATED: Why Lost Boys Was Almost Like The Goonies (& Why It Changed)
Like Chris, Phoenix faced a difficult home life, sensitive emotionality, and a premature death. The talented young actor offered an abundance of heart and fire for one so young, and his performance in Stand By Me is one revered by fans. To replace him would be no easy task indeed, and that is why the role should be taken up by someone whose popularity and talent are pronounced. Noah Schnapp of Stranger Things has proven himself a valuable and enlightened actor whose star is beginning to shine.
Tumblr media
Ace Merrill is not only a terrifying bully in Stephen King's Castle Rock, but a kind of symbol of childhood trauma and death. His palpable presence onscreen casts a pall over the film, acting as a dark and heavy cloud that disrupts the sunny bubble of childhood that the four young boys wish to hold on to. A notable turning point for Gordie occurs when the boy aims a gun at Ace, confronting his newfound comprehension of death and the unknowable consequences of the future all at once.
Sutherland was chilling as Merrill, his presence onscreen almost Shakespearean as he stalked through the hamlet of Castle Rock, Oregon. His smooth, detached performance is icy and effective, convincing audiences that he might pose a deadly threat to the boys. To match such a profoundly unnerving performance would take experience and poise, both of which Asa Butterfield has in spades. The young star of Hugo and Sex Education has enough clout to carry the bully off with aplomb.
Tumblr media
The older version of Gordie is not visible through much of the film, but his voice carries the story. He is the audience's lens through which these characters are seen and the mirror of adulthood that many viewers face. At the end of the film, his words, "I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?" reflect thoughts that many people have had. Richard Dreyfuss plays the role tenderly in the original, and a return of Sutherland would be a fun nod for fans of the original as well as an echo of what happens with adulthood. Sutherland and Tremblay also bear a passing resemblance, so he would fit the role nicely.

Though the role of Gordie's older brother is a mere cameo, he is a weighty presence in the film. Much of Gordie's character hangs on the approval of his older brother, and the motivation to find the dead body leads Gordie to a profound understanding of death, life's ultimate conclusion. When he gazes upon the body of Ray Brower, he not only understands the finality of existence but the phenomenon that took his brother away from him. The actor who plays Denny Lachance has to sparkle. He is handsome, charismatic, and kind, and the original cameo by John Cusack was just the ticket. Movie star Tom Holland would be well suited to such a task. Universally adored, sweet, and bankable, the star of Spider-Man is the perfect choice to play Gordie's beloved older brother in a Stand By Me reboot.

I'm curious to know your favorite Alex role! Why is it your favorite?
Haha a fair question!
For most of my life it was Bill S Preston Esquire. From Excellent Adventure to be exact (though Bogus Journey was my favorite of the two movies). I had older siblings that showed me the movies quite young and they caught my fancy. It was funny in High School when I shared them with my friends and I finally clued in to all the innuendo that had gone over my head  as a 5 year old. There was something just so…. likable about him? I also 100% attribute my love of history to that movie. I always wanted to be as optimistic and outgoing as Bill.
In high school I had a small group of friends that were just as obsessed with the 80′s as I so we watched a fair number of movies together. I know The Lost Boys came up and I’m sure I was in a room while it was being played but I remember being so horrified by Alex’s hair that I just could not deal with it. Fast forward to this past fall after a series of events and a best friends love for Kiefer, Lost Boys came back to the table. I was still really hesitant mostly because I still couldn’t get past Alex’s look as Marko. I then REALLY watched the movie and fell in love with it.
And before I freaking knew it I was completely infatuated by Marko. I think what I find most amazing is how with a role where he has such few lines he expresses SO MUCH. Alex has the most amazing facial expressions. I just found it incredible that after so long of not wanting to watch a movie because I didn’t like Alex’s look I ended up loving his role so much. I am always just completely in awe of his talent. He is just super incredible.
So I would say Marko is probably my favorite role right now, but omg Bill is so precious and I will never stop loving him~

Requested by @theeblueehazee
AN:Thanks for this request! I love David in “Lost Boys” and I love Kiefer Sutherland so to do this was awesome! And thank you for letting me run with it!
AN: I’m sick and this probably isn’t going to be the best work that I’ve done but I somehow found the energy to do it so I’m getting it done.
The Santa Carla Boardwalk. Territory of the Lost Boys. Offspring of Max. Of course the territory wasn’t off limits. Everyone was just kind of warned not to go there. Especially since Star had some beef with the boys. The way she told the story, she got out fighting and biting. The way Max told it, she was given a choice, leave or die. Either way Star had left Santa Carla and started her own clan. They hadn’t been going as long as the boys but they certainly had more members. And they certainly were more than capable of holding their own. Something Hazely made sure Star remembered. While David has his small band, Hazely had her’s. And as much as David and the boys disliked Max, Hazely and the girls disliked Star.
“Hazely! I told you not to go near Santa Carla!” Star yelled. The sound echoed around the cavern as Hazely slowly stalked towards the center. She tilted her head and gave Star her signature smirk.
“Had you?” She cocked her head. “I don’t quite remember ever hearing that.” Star snarled and launched herself towards Hazely. “Ah ah ah.” Star stopped inches from her.
“Go near the boardwalk again and I won’t hesitate.” Star warned. Her fangs and yellow eyes became prominent as she grabbed Hazely’s chin. “You know better girl. I won’t take anything less.”
“Of course you won’t.” Hazely said as she jerked her head out of Star’s grasp. There was a short staring contest before Star turned and made to leave the cavern. “Because you don’t want us to be like you.” The echo sounded dead as it bounced to Star. Without even looking over her shoulder, Star continued to walk out.
“No I don’t.” She muttered before taking a worried look behind her. She knew, deep down she knew, that if Hazely went to Santa Carla she would run into Max. And she would run into David. She just didn’t know who would be more dangerous. The Lost Boys or Hazely.
Hazely waited until she was sure Star had left the cavern before turning and putting her fist through a rock. “Girls!” She yelled out, pulling on her gloves to hide the scrapes that now littered her hand. “We’re going for a ride!” Five girls made their way into the main area of the cavern and gathered around Hazely.
“Where we going?” one of the girls asked. Hazely zipped up her jacket and smirked as she looked at the girls that had gathered around her.
“Santa Carla boardwalk.” She said as she made her way out to the motorcycles that were waiting for them outside. They all got on the bikes and took off into the night. It was a two hour ride to Santa Carla but the time flew by just as the girls did. It was late when the girls finally arrived on the boardwalk. There weren’t too many people out but Hazely could see the bonfire smoking away further down the beach. “How hungry are you girls?” She could feel her fangs descend at the thought of finally having a good feeding.
“Surf-nazis?” One of the girls asked. Hazely nodded as she started to lead the way to the bonfire. She made sure to keep her transformation almost non-existent as they walked down the beach. The music got louder and the smoke got heavier the closer they got. Keeping to the edge of the party, Hazely led the girls to a hill in order to watch the small group of surf-nazis. She made a motion for the girls to stay where they were while she scoped out a place to attack.
Laying low and edging along the outskirts of the party, Hazely kept her eyes on the group. She watched their patterns as they drunkenly danced around the fire. She didn’t pay attention to the sound of boots crunching leaves coming up behind her nor did she acknowledge the brush of wind that followed the person’s coat.
“Anything I can do to help you?” Hazely jumped and bared her fangs at the newcomer, who bared their fangs to her.  She stumbled back before finding her footing and making to attack this new person. He took up a stance similar to her’s. Then he took a look at her. “Wait.” His stance dropped while her’s got more defensive. “Why do you look familiar?” Hazely’s eyebrows knit together as she cocked her head at this boy.
“What do you mean?” She asked. “Familiar? I ain’t never seen you before in my life.” The boy took a step closer to her with his hands up in defense. His yellow eyes slowly changed to blue and his fangs disappeared. Hazely kept her fangs out as she watched the boy circle around her.
“Like I’ve seen you before.” He appraised her as he turned to face her again. His eyes went slightly wide before he smiled at her. “Hazely. Missing from the Santa Carla boardwalk. 1987. Been gone for two years.” Hazely’s eyes widened and she took off running at him. He turned at the last minute, causing her to fall to the ground. Just as she rolled on her back to get back up, the boy offered his hand to her. “I’m not going to hurt you Hazely.” His voice was soft and even though every nerve in her body told her to trust the boy, she waited to think this through. If he knew who she was and what she was, who knew what else he knew. “I’m David.” Her eyes went wider than they already were. This was THE David. The David that Star had warned her about. Hazely didn’t know what to do. If she took his hand, Star would go off on her. If she didn’t, he might go after her and Star would be there to finish the job. So she did what she thought was right. She took his hand.
“What do you want with me?” She asked as he pulled her up. They stood facing each other. “You clearly know who I am and what I am so why don’t you just spill.” David smirked as he motioned towards the party.
“Why don’t we eat first?” Hazely turned to call over her girls. “Then we can all sit down and talk.” David turned to call over the boys. The group said nothing to each other, following the orders of their leaders. Together David and Hazely led the group down onto the beach. Sharing a look, they each raised a hand before giving the order to eat. What came next was a mess of blood, screams, and chaos. Before long, David and Hazely started the assent back onto the hill. The girls circled around Hazely and the boys circled around David.
“Those are the Lost Boys?” The general chorus of the girls snapped Hazely out of her thoughts about David. She nodded before gently pulling off her gloves. “Which one is David? Do you remember the stories Star used to tell us? What are they doing so far away from the boardwalk? Which one is Max?” A flurry of questions ambushed Hazely. She held her hand up, stopping any further questions.
“No more questions.” She looked over her shoulder to see David looking at her. They nodded at each other before turning back to their groups. “Mingle with the boys. Ask them anything you want. I don’t care.” She turned to walk over to meet David. “Just don’t run off.” Hazely shot over her shoulder. The girls watched her as she finally met up with David before becoming distracted by the boys.
“They seem to be getting along nicely.” David chuckled as he looked at the chaos that was two clans meeting for the first time. Hazely nodded.
“They’ve heard stories their entire life.” Hazely said without taking her eyes off of David. His eyes met hers and she shrugged. “Star.” David’s expression hardened and he nodded coldly.
“That’s where she ran off to.” He growled. “Did she take Michael with her?” Hazely laughed.
“As if!” David’s head snapped in her direction at her raised tone. “He took off the second she told him she wanted a clan of her own! He wouldn’t do what you had done in a million years!” Hazely leaned up against a tree and crossed her arms. “Never had the guts. We could never figure out why you changed him.” David slowly moved in front of her.
“Because Max thought we needed his mother.” David hissed. Hazely nodded. “She wouldn’t do it without her sons and Max was right about that. But we didn’t need her. Just like we don’t need Star.” Hazely nodded again before feeling a strange pull towards David. He must have felt it too because he started to lean in towards her. “And we don’t need her clan.” His breath fanned her lips and she looked up at him, just as defiant.
“We don’t need your clan either.” Hazely hissed back, trying to ignore everything in her telling her to grab his jacket and pull him towards her. “There was a reason Star left. What was it?” Her hands slid up to his collar, gripping it hard. “Tell me.” David stared her down as she pulled on him.
“I don’t know.” David whispered. His expression softened. He realized why she had been coming to the boardwalk. She was trying to find out what had caused the split. Why there were Lost Boys. And Lost Girls. And what that feeling was in the pit of her stomach that told her there didn’t need to be two clans. It was the same feeling that he felt in his stomach when he watched her explore the boardwalk every week for the last few months. “I don’t know.” He shook his head and tried to break her grip but it was strong. He needed to get out of there before he did something he regretted. Even though he was questioning just how much he would regret it.
“You know something David.” She whispered. “Now tell me.” She pulled him closer and David put his hands on her waist to stop him from falling on top of her. “TELL ME!” Her voice barely raised above a whisper but he heard her yelling. His mind raced as he knew what that meant.
“Not here.” He shook his head. Looking over his shoulder he realized they must have driven here somehow. “You got bikes?” Hazely nodded at him confused. “Follow us then.” He spun away from her and made his way back to the group. “We’re headed back boys.” The boys turned and followed him without question.
“We’re following them.” Hazely ordered the girls. They all made their way back towards their bikes. “Where are we going?” She asked David when she fell into step with him.
“You know that old resort that took a header into the fault back in 1906?” David asked. Hazely nodded. She remembered the stories Star used to tell her about it. The other girls wouldn’t remember the stories since Star never mentioned it much to them but she did. “Being the first turned has some perks.” David didn’t speak but Hazely heard him clear as day. He smirked at her when he realized that she had heard him.
“We’ll follow you.” Hazely and the girls got on their bikes and followed David and the boys to where they had parked their bikes. Hazely pulled up next to David’s bike and looked it over.
“You just need to keep up.” He smirked as he started his bike and took off. It was a short ride from the boardwalk to the resort. David and Hazely dismounted and waited for the rest of their clans to catch up before heading into the resort. The boys enjoyed showing the girls around while David motioned for Hazely to follow him. “This way they can’t hear us.” David led her further back into the resort before stopping by what looked like the pool. “Has Star ever mentioned anything about vampires having mates?” David looked at the pool, not quite avoiding Hazely but choosing to pretend that he had the upper hand in the situation. When in reality, he had the upper hand just as much as she did.
“No.” She inched closer to David before falling into place next to him. “Is it important?” David sighed as he turned to face Hazely. He didn’t want to have to explain this to HIS mate. He had hoped that it was going to be an easy ‘this is what it feels like and hey by the way we’re mates’ but apparently it wasn’t going to be like that.
“It’s when two vampires are meant to be together.” Hazely looked at him carefully. “There’s a pull. It’s unexplainable. It’s just there. Like a feeling in the pit of your stomach.” He carefully got closer to Hazely and reached down to take her hand. “Like you are going somewhere but you don’t know why.” David was holding both of her hands now and staring down at her with an expression she couldn’t quite place. “Looking for answers to a question you don’t quite know how to word yet.” They were chest to chest now. “That’s what it feels like when two vampires find out that they are mates.” David moved one of his hands to cup Hazely’s cheek. Her hand had moved back to his collar. “That’s what we’re feeling....” David’s head tilted as he started to close the gap that separated him from Hazely. “Right now…” She stood a little taller so it was easier to reach him. “Because we’re….” His mouth hovered above hers. She could feel his breath mixing with hers and if she had a heart she knew it would be pounding out of her chest.
“Mates.” She whispered before their lips finally connected. The whole world around them seemed to freeze. The two clans didn’t matter anymore. Max didn’t matter. Star didn’t matter. It was just David and Hazely. That was until Hazely was ripped away from David.
“HAZELY!” He screamed as he shifted and his fangs came out. His yellow eyes snapped open and focused on his mate standing at the other end of the room from him with a stake at her throat.
“Stay away from her David.” Star’s voice rang in his ears as his mate struggled against her hold. His eyes stayed on the stake at Hazely’s throat.
“Don’t do this Star.” His voice dropped an octave and came out as a growl. “Don’t you dare.” David slowly stalked towards her. Star pulled Hazely with her as she moved, trying to keep distance between the two of them and David. “Just because you’re mate ran off doesn’t mean you can fuck with mine!” Star hadn’t even heard David’s voice that loud or that concerned.
“Who said I was?” Star teased before gently pressing the stake into Hazely’s neck. “Stay away from her. And nothing will happen.” In the blink of an eye, Star and Hazely were gone. David raced back to the common area, barely acknowledging that the other girls were gone too and the boys were watching him with what could be construed as fear on their faces. He reached the entrance to the resort and stopped before stepping out into the growing sunlight. He growled as he clenched his fists. He would get her back. Of that he was sure. And Star would pay for it.
