Roman Catholic emerging from the sewer to vouch for all three points and adding on that Noble Bell College resembles the Notre Dame cathedral

Anything regarding the existence of religion in TWST is going to be a long conversation but Rollo's beliefs toward magic because of his past and the way he executed his plan are all reminiscent of how narrow-minded and desperate Christians can get when they want something, even without an actual God to "do things in the name of" like Frollo did.

Maybe all that can be exhibited by any other character, and his "doing this for your own good" mindset that comes at the expense of others is also shown by Riddle and Vil with their own things like rules and beauty, but Rollo's whole existence is just plastered with religious imagery that he's more associated with catholicism than anyone else

In terms of his personality or behavior, it's his savior complex and self-righteousness down to how judgmental and easily displeased he is with others or behavior he finds unpleasant (and how he tries to hide it with a handkerchief) are also all so…. grossly Catholic

I could've made a separate post entirely for this part but I loved all the meta people made before/during the event's release about how Malleus having horns invokes imagery of the devil, and then you have Rollo who is... the way he is...... that's how you get a catholic nightmare of an event story with glorimasque loool

I think the main reason we all think of Rollo as Catholic is just how guilt ridden and repressed he comes off

It's more of his basis on Frollo that makes people associate him with Catholicism lol and I think it's what the writers are using to build upon his character.

For me, though, it's less on his repressed guilt that makes him feel Catholic and more of the disgust that he shows towards certain people and their actions. The way he puts up that handkerchief and subtly expresses his disgust feels very familiar XD there's just something so characteristically Christian about the gesture that I can't explain it. Anyone can be disgusted at someone and be judgmental, but it's the way that he tries not to be rude in front of others, the way that he covers his mouth. It feels familiar.
