Finally Normal People by Sally Rooney arrived yesterday and my Man Booker reading list is complete. These 4 were the ones I initially wanted to pick up and I’m sticking with them. ‪28 Dec 2017.‬ Is it just me, or does Emma Mills have the most stunning cover designs? I am OBSESSED with the cover of #ThisAdventureEnds, and it was such a fun read! So when I got a review copy and an @OwlCrate version of #FoolishHearts, the first thing I did was strip the dust jacket so I could get a look at the artwork underneath. this was one of prescott’s more legitimate business deals. he liked to have the legal jobs he took outweigh the.. dodgier jobs. he wanted to keep himself as level-headed and within the law as he could. there was something about working with fashion shows that he quite liked. it was hardly a calming situation, but that was what he liked about it. his job was easy with this, there was hardly anything that was out of place or made him have to question any of the expenses. he rubbed his hand over his face and huffed out a breath. today seemed to be the exception. “why the fuck are they charging a dinner at some dumb restaurant every night to the show? this is.. once a week, maybe. every night? jesus.” prescott dropped the pen down on the table and stretched his arms out above his head. his muscles were aching and he felt like he needed to lay down and just not move for a week. // @beautifulspines

    is it possible to sleep standing up? rupert had never believed it so, but ever since he’d become a father and emily had practically crash landed into his life, it seemed as though she’d made the impossible, possible. he’s holding her in his arms, waving her to and fro. the point had been to get her sleeping, but it clearly had the opposite affect. he’s still gently rocking her, his eyes closed and he’s so exhausted he barely recognises that somebody else has walked into the room, let alone the house. he wasn’t often this soft in front of anyone else, it was usually reserved for when he was alone with her. he felt safe with her, and he hoped...she did too. had you told him before this, he’d have laughed had you suggested him ever becoming a father, now...he still wasn’t sure he was cut out for it, but he loved that tiny firecracker with his whole heart. he’d spent a large portion of his day watching disney films with her, even if it was unlikely she would remember them, and now he’s singing along to one of the songs; peppering her small head with kisses, “baby mine, don't you cry, baby mine, dry your eyes. rest your head close to my heart, never to part; baby of mine.” | @beautifulspines

it had been a short while since the pair had seen each other. lacey had still been pregnant then, actually. that showed how long ago it really had been. she was without any of her children, they were all with her sister and she was just.. having some ‘me’ time. not that that consisted of anything but worrying about the kids and if they were okay. she pressed her hand against her forehead and sighed. she was a mess of a woman. she was trying her best, though, that was all she could do. this was a last minute thing and, for a moment or two, lacey thought mia might not come. not for any reason other than she had her own kids and life to deal with. life constantly got in the way and lacey could certainly prove that to be true. but there she was and lacey couldn’t even begin to hide the happiness on her face. “it’s so good to see you.” // @beautifulspines
