The Beatles mime "Ticket to Ride" on Top of the Pops. We only know this because the Doctor and crew were watching from the future on the T.A.R.D.I.S. and thus the footage was saved for posterity, since it was policy at the time to periodically wipe the tapes at BBC.

This segment replaced a proposed scene in which the Beatles were to appear as themselves in the future using age makeup, a concept Brian Epstein objected to making it canonically his only mistake as manager.

As a massive fan of the Beatles (wrote a thesis on them) and a Christian, I just started working on lyrics for a concept album about Jesus and Judas and John and Paul….

and it is virtually impossible to tell who I am writing about unless I reference Liverpool.

I’m not like…playing into the shipping but I’m not NOT playing into the shipping.

I listen mostly to 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, my favs are the beatles i can talk about them every day, nirvana, queen, the police, elton john, ac/dc and david bowie, I have a weakness for don't let me down which is fine insane and get back, but actual pop and french songs is fine too, my favs are hozier, noah kahan, pomme, kyo, therapie taxi, eddy de pretto, solann and maybe a lot more, my fav are maybe almost sweet music, petit corps and perseides

I'm not going to talk about my ship here because there is a LOT to say, but I can say my fav character of all time is bucky barnes, my celebrities crush are pedro pascal, david tennant, pomme and solann

I have a complete alternate universe, I can write about my characters 24/24 but I write also a book in fantasy ( named flores noctis ) and my fav characters are aewin and eldre, maybe one day I write here about them !!

a nikkei perspective on the title of Paul McCartney's 1979 track "Frozen Jap"

The following text was left in the comments section by a Japanese American listener at a Beatles fan site (The Beatles Bible) regarding Paul McCartney's unfortunately titled, semi-legendary 1979 instrumental "Frozen Jap."

Huge McCartney fan here…and also a Japanese-American. As a fan, I had always sort of forced myself to never address the title of the song. It ruined my image and respect for one of the greatest songwriters of all times. Even as a younger person (teens) in the eighties, I knew and thought the title was offensive/derogatory. It wasn’t till a few years later that non-Asians would acknowledge that “Jap” is not a flattering word (a word that, ironically they chose to use for the purpose of being derogatory). Do I think McCartney is racist? I think there is some in him, but I wouldn’t say he’s “fully vested” yet. In my opinion, a better way to say it is that he may be racially insensitive (or have racial “blind spots”). I think a lot of people have blind spots…but the goal is to evolve and enlighten as the world (hopefully) does. But as far as McCartney being intentionally racist—no, I don’t think so. I think he has blind spots like a lot of people. But he’s not an evil racist (like some of our current leaders).

ALBUM OF THE MONTH—SNAPSHOTS https://johnnyjblairsingeratlarge.bandcamp.com/album/snapshots-live-half-plugged-expanded-reissue  ...Cappuccino and novel reading fueled SNAPSHOTS, an album of songs extracted from my appearances on TV shows as well as concerts and the studio. I released this album in 2003 when I earned the tag "The Tasmanian Devil of the coffee house set." Part of my audience wanted a raw, acoustic album. Hence SNAPSHOTS—a mix of blues, California pop, roots rock’n’roll, and gospel standards ("Workin' on a Building”). Live cuts include energetic covers of Patti Smith’s "Dancing Barefoot" and a Staples Singers-styled remake of "For What it's Worth” (Buffalo Springfield) performed on slide 12-string guitar.

Writers are outsourced in the Beatle-esque "Unresolved (Graham Greene's Script for Laurel and Hardy)" and "Desert Ruby" is a semi-autobiographical "Los Angeles allegory," with images from The Bible and Raymond Chandler. SNAPSHOTS also has 2 of my personal favorites, The Beach Boys-influenced “Like a Father a Son” and "Steinbeck Found the Valley"—an instrumental with accordion, cellos, piano, and trombones by Richard Marriott.
