Highly recommend the anime!! It’s 12 eps long, u can probably find it if u search like “watch land of the lustrous online” and made by the same studio which made… uh Beastars if you’ve heard of that! And the new Trigun Stampede! They make GREAT CGI animation :)) anyway the anime is beautiful animation and characters, great music, great sound design, great voice acting!

I’ll say the story is pretty weird, but that’s what it’s supposed to be like! A little brief summary about Land of the Lustrous/Houseki no Kuni 🫶my fav anime

Far in the future the last beings on Earth are Genderless Rock Beings Like Steven Universe but Anime and Without Musical Numbers. They’re immortal! The characters are gems. Rocks. And they are being hunted by mysterious divine looking spirit people called Lunarians who want to shatter the gem people (the Lustrous) and make them into JEWLERY and shit ☹️ anyway the story follows one gem, and their changes throughout their journey to uncovering the mysteries about the world! Why are their only gems? Who are the Lunarians? Are there other creatures? Etc. anyway the anime gets u up to about chapter 33 or smth. There’s about 100 chaps in the manga so far, and the story continues further :))

The characters I draw the most that you’ve seen (cairn and laphos)-just for your reference-are from the manga! 🙏the manga is highly rated and ranked #12 top on myanilist which is epic let’s just say things get darker😎 love this series!

All around his familial relationships are shit to say the least. He doesn’t trust easily, he’s paranoid, cold hearted on the outside, and violent. Like a mad dog he’ll snap without warning, his fangs are always bared, and his lips are always curled in a snarl. He’s hooked on cigarettes and booze, and he can’t last without his mood stabilizers. He works at an underground fight club and can often be seen sporting bars, even if he isn’t of age for a plot. The club is a front for the gang. I do often prefer to write Sam in a violent dystopian like setting where crime is rampant, bodies are in the streets, the city’s in chaos, etc. Think the purge almost. Otherwise, he’s just got a rough life on the streets in a gang. ( His age can vary for the plot btw! 🍪 is fine with me. I primarily write him as 20 default, and 25 the oldest though. )

for the beastars au I like to imagine that joestars shapeshift at roughly the same time and when they do change they see their little child in their beast form as well and they're like p r o t e c t- and cuddle the little baby. just imagine snake bird joseph curled up with little baby Holly and she's so so fluffy. Honestly I imagine her as a sort of duck/rabbit sort of animal bc she just gives the energy, but idk if you have anything for her yet. And then Holy doing the same for Jotaro. And Jotaro doing the same for Jolyne-

Food Chain and Natural Predators be damned, they're going to love and care for each other so freaking much. They are Pack and Flock and every other word to define it, they must stick together and keep each other safe

Joseph is probably the most touchy feely out of them all. He's already a pretty physically affectionate guy, so when he's a beast it just gets cranked up to 11. And while Holly has already kinda been established as a rabbit/river otter, you're absolutely right in how cuddly and fluffy she is. She's definitely on the smaller side compared to all the other Joestars, and when she was a baby she was tiny. Joseph would sometimes spend the whole night wrapped around her, grooming her fur and cuddling together

With Jotaro, while he and Holly do spend a decent chunk of time being affectionate, a lot of their time on forced nights is spent swimming together. Holly spent hours teaching him how to swim, and even when he gets older and he easily dwarfs her in size, he always looks to her for guidance and direction in the water. He's viciously protective, but Holly is just as much if not more so since...... well, river otters are apex predators and there are some kinds that regularly throw down with and hunt crocodiles and win

and just. Jotaro being super cuddly with Jolyne. When she was a baby, Marina was one of the only people he'd let anywhere close to her on full moons. And while this protectiveness slowly died down over the years, it was always still very prominent. Most of their forced transformations were spent in the house sleeping, but Jotaro would also sometimes take Jolyne to a body of water so they could swim together :>

also, I had a fun idea of for the most part, the beast forms are "easier" to control as children. As a child, you aren't saddled with the crushing social expectations of life. The world is so bright and full of magic and so little is understood and that's what makes it so fun. The beast forms are just another part of who they are, they don't understand why it would be considered strange or monstrous

that isn't to say their upbringing has no affect on their control. For example, the Brando children (with the exception of Rikiel) all have very poor control because of a lack of proper, healthy guidance and toxic environments. However, in those first few years when they're infants and toddlers...... they're still themselves. Children are subject completely to their whims, not even being able to comprehend cause and effect yet. They rarely act differently from when they're human, now they just have a couple more limbs

It's perfect for animatics. It breaks characters down into incredibly simple archetypes for a very common dynamic of "the serious one" and "the emotional one," meaning that pretty much any two characters can be fit in, even if they only vaguely matched the archetypes (especially considering that "the emotional one" and "the serious one" are very common ways fandom will oversimplify characters).

this is more a design headcanon thing to how i draw him but to me he has a round-ish face. nothing against people that draw him with like a long-ish face, but seeing his portrait sprites ingame i was always like. hehe round boy.... cute fluffy cheeks

on that note. i think hes built like a beanpole lol.. hes tall and lanky but muscular..? like not very visibly so. visibly he looks like a lamp post but he packs a surprising punch. he does NOT have much resistance though.. like a glass canon. hits like a truck but you sneeze on him and he crumples (this is true) (exaggeration. he has good endurance in a fight but every hit hurts him pretty bad. i hope you get what i mean.)

final design note.. i think he has stupidly long eyelashes . i suppose hes fine with them because they make it easier to appeal to the Public but sometimes he probably does wish he had shorter eyelashes.
