SO. bummer post ahead.

Took Nibblet our beardie to the vet as he was Very Not Well lately. Vet says, based on Xrays, that there is a high probability of stomach cancer. We're waiting to get back the blood results.

I got some new followers so for those who don't know this is Apollo he's almost a year old and he's missing his front right arm!

Having a full on (good) meltdown bc Apollo's birthday hat and bandana are almost here and I can't wait to see the little man all dressed up.

Hi, it's me again! When this picture was taken, my hooman fed me a diet of crickets and salad and fruits that she knew I could eat. And it's fine for me to eat crickets but the thing is crickets carry parasites more so than any other feeder insect and the parasites can harm reptiles. It happened to me and my hooman felt responsible, however she was new to beardies and didn't know. I'm not saying that crickets are bad, I'm just saying that you should be aware that they can carry parasites. Better than feeding crickets you could feed if legal in your country or state, superworms, calciworms, butter worms, wax worms, Dubai roaches. do not feed mealworms, they are mostly made of chitin which is hard for your beardie to digest (if it goes in looking like a meal worm you will be able to identify it in pieces when it comes out)

Another thing is crickets are assholes. There's no way to sugarcoat it so I feel it's best to tell you the truth. CRICKETS. EAT. ANYTHING. They nibble at our heads, eyes, toes, tails anything they can get too. It's best to not feed us crickets in our main tank and if you do feed crickets make sure you capture all of them and don't leave any in our tanks over night lest you want us to be a night time snack for them. At night, we don't wake up hardly for anything not even a cricket finding a snack on our heads. So PLEASE KEEP CRICKETS OUT OF OUR HOUSES AT NIGHT.

AND THOUGH I'M A BEARDIE AND NOT A SNEK I FEEL IT'S IMPORTANT TO MENTION THAT if the snek does not eat the live mouse you provided, remove the mouse, the mouse is not you snek's friend they don't have friends and the mouse is probably dining on your reptile.

Please don't bash my hooman, she is only trying to help!

She finally woke up!!! I really miss the lizards when they go into brumation. Glad to see her happy little smile again ☀️

Despite being almost 3 months older, Odie remains baby-faced while Sahr matures into a handsome bullfrog. I guess beard growing genes just don’t run in Odie’s family.
