My cybies collection grows slowly. Masktchi is my white whale but sadly there's like no listings.

Sadly they can't stay there because they're blocking access to my drawers... hopefully i'll move to a place with a bigger room and enough shelf space for all my junk one day. For now though, everyone but Zatchi is getting tucked away.

Monster High G3 - Frankie Stein - Signature Doll

One of my faves from G1 has made their way to become, yet again, one of my faves in the current gen!

When the dolls first got leaked by that Coffin Bean playset box photo, Frankie was the one I got extremely excited for. I'm a sucker for the preppy-punk aesthetic, and I think Frankie nails that well enough! I'd have preferred a darker blue color scheme but it's honestly a non-issue. I get that the neon blue, pink, and lime colors suit their personality way more. I'm glad it's mostly four colors and just some hints of a fifth one so it's not as busy as Clawdeen's color scheme.

The inclusion of the prosthetic leg makes total sense for the kind of monster they are. Even the little doodles on the leg are nice finishing touches and really brings out their personality. I know the body prints on the earlier batches rubbed off pretty easily, but mine still haven't so I'm thankful. Her lower leg, however, has discolored into a yellowish tint, but I can't capture the accurate color on camera. I don't know if it's because of the print or if the material is just different from the upper legs, but it does bother me a bit. They eyebrow piercing though!!!

The shoes are okay. It leaves a lot to be desired but it's still coherent to their aesthetic. I do wish they were black instead of pink, because like the color of Clawdeen's shoes, they're kind of disconnected from the main outfit.

All of Frankie's accessories are wonderful. The lightning bolt motif is pretty apparent on almost every item, but I don't mind it! This is the core doll so I appreciate that they're introducing their motifs strongly. The clear lightning bolt backpack with the keychain is a fun but I think the little Instax camera steals its thunder (lol) because it's easier to put on them than the other. I appreciate that it came with the photos too! It doesn't come with a little ring for the doll to hold it though, so it's just gonna hang around like a bag.

For the smaller accessories, they come with a pair of clear shades with some lightning details molded on the frames. It's a lot darker on the actual doll but I'm glad it's still transparent enough to show their eyes! I am kinda bummed that they missed out on their water bottle though. I'd have swapped the screechza for it, for sure. They also come with their iCoffin that's molded with a personal touch of electricity.

The jacket becomes rather difficult to put on at times. It's tailored large enough to fit the shirt sleeves but I could never fit it enough for the shoulders to sit correctly. I still appreciate the additional clothing piece! There's definitely some mix and match potential here, but I barely use it unless I remove the shirt and keep their vest on, or wrap it around their waist.

Here's Frankie next to their budget version! Personally, I prefer the budget version because I think the outfit structure is more unique and the shoes are way more detailed than the core version. They also came with a handbag in this one, which I prefer a lot more than the backpack. The shoes also capture the creativity that MH shoes typically have, and they come with some dangling lightning bolts in the back! The pink glasses are from a different doll but I thought the colors complement the shoes more than the blue ones.

Overall, I was not disappointed with signature Frankie. They're still one of my top three signature dolls and my opinion has not changed from when I saw the leak to when I had them in my hands. While I still like the budget version better, this one has more restyling potential and I feel like all their accessories are definitely worth their inclusions.

of course, none other than king943 hSJADJSAJHAS. He’s a little secret I’ll let you all in on: the first person I actually noticed in TXT was,,,,,,, Kang Taehyun hSDHJAHJSDAHSA but he wasn’t my bias. I just thought he was cute (also amused me bc my BTS bias was Taehyung and I found a guy named Taehyun cute), but I didn’t stan them then. I started stanning when I saw ONE DREAM.TXT where they talked to BTS and found them really cute and endearing. Looking into them, they were wild, and chaotic and so fun and also i got rEAAAALLY attached to Soobin. So here I am. There u go, my stanning story.

favorite season and why

Winter! Even if I’ve never experienced snow or winter before, the whole idea of snow is just really fun and endearing to me. One of my bucketlists is to see snow in real life. I think it has to do with the fact that I’ve always been this person to prefer the cold over heat.

what made you enter tumblr?

I’ve always been here! Just not in kpop tumblr. I’ve since deleted my old accounts and shame  but i came back to write. It’s always been so stress-relieving to me, to write without any expectations on my back because I’m thinking about grades or a competition. Also Soobin simping is a daily thing and I gotta release it somewhere man

are you happy with where you are in life right now? why or why not?

Yes. I may not be the richest or the prettiest, or smartest or whatever, but I have a good family that loves me. I have good friends that support me and I have TXT and BTS to help me cope when things get overwhelming. I have a job that gives me a little bit of income (it’s not too common for college students here to get jobs like in the US, most of them just focus on acads) and all the means to continue my education amidst the pandemic. So really, I’m grateful for where I am now.

to see the boys in real life but for it to happen only once in your lifetime, or to meet the boys via online fan meeting as many times as you can in your lifetime? why?

Why do you have to do me dirty cj,,,,, prolly online. I may not get to hug them or anything but I get to talk to them still. As may times as I want to. my cousins and i had just watched markiplier and danandphil play five nights at freddies, and we were spooked, so we started watching spongebob in the middle of the night.

i had an eeyore stuffed doll that i called doofy for some reason and i always slept with it. i had to leave it in kenya when we moved, but i’m on the hunt for another stuffed friend.

i have a necklace that my aunt gave me a few years ago. i always wore it to feel close to her.

the rosie project by graeme simsion. i got it at goodwill, and even my dad liked it. my dad very rarely likes the books i pick.

none yet, but there is a starbucks in our town that i’ve been to a couple of times. not only was it my first starbucks visit, but i’ve had some very good memories there.

Could you do an intro post for vixx like you did for sf9?

so for those of y’all who read my sf9 intro post, i’m sorry bc this is prob gonna be a lot longer I”M SORRY how can you guys ask me to do this for my faves

vixx (synonymous with “concept kings”) stands for “visual, voice, value in excelsis,” which is meant to say that vixx has the best vocals/visuals and all that but after 5 years many people think that the “v” in vixx also stands for violence oops. before debut, they were in a survival show called mydol with a few other trainees. under jellyfish entertainment, vixx debuted may 24, 2012 with the song superhero. since then, vixx have been known as concept-dols because of the way they incorporate themes into their teasers, outfits, mv and go way beyond in terms of expressing these particular concepts.

one thing you have to know about vixx is that they’re relatively popular but somewhat overlooked because they create music and concepts that they are interested in, which don’t necessarily overlap with what the majority of the kpop consumer body wants to see or hear. but they don’t care. they are happy making music and are grateful for all of their fans, no matter how small or big their fanbase is.

(another thing: vixx is literally 80% legs)

I-Doll Fukuoka 8

This is kinda late but a few people said they did want to see a report, so here is a small one! I-Doll was on October 9th on a Monday - it was a public holiday, but unfortunately because not everyone got that day off and Doll Show in Tokyo being on the same day, there were less vendors than usual. However, Dearmine attended as a vendor for the first time which I think more than made up for that. I hurried right over there as soon as I got in because I knew they’d get swamped with people quickly and it would be hard to get photos, and there was already a line. They had the samples of their newest dolls on display and available for preorder - these ones aren’t out yet. 

Those blond ash-skinned DearPets - Oz and Storm - sure are cute in person, I do kinda wanna get a DearPet one day.

They also had a whole load of other dolls - mostly from their DearBeans range - including previously released limited colours and some that were limited to this event. I had been lining up just to get close enough to take photos, but when I saw all the Beans there.... well, I was worried that when I got closer I didn’t want to be the person who left the line without buying anything, but then when I got even closer and actually saw all the Beans up close I realized that I probably wouldn’t be able to leave without buying one even if I wanted to ._. Looking at them on the website is one thing, but seeing them right in front of you...

I actually took a really long time to decide, though, and I ended up letting 3 of the people behind me go first. I was waffling between one of the grey ones, the event-limited yellowy one or a black one, but as you may already know, I got this dude. He was displayed in a pink nightgown (you can see him in the photo) but was slightly cheaper without it so I got him naked, as I wanted to buy him clothes at the event itself anyway.

Rachel and Angelica were stunning in person, too...

Dearmine had real cute bags, too! Anyway One of my twitter/insta mutuals choco.tan was also there selling a bunch of cute 1/12 miniatures she’d made, so I got some pancakes.

She’d also brought along her adorable Rudy, who I am a huge fan of and always make sure to take a pic of when I see her! Rudy is a honey delf Corni, another doll I really want. (I want both Kid and Honey delf Cornis, but I have different plans for each)

The teeny little dealer shop Fukuoka has called Doll Shop Eden also had a booth there with some of the newest dolls they’d gotten in. I really like that special grey-skinned Dollzone Miss Kitty.

A bunch more sellers - many had Halloween-themed items.

That’s the booth of another mutual, I always get a cute hair accessory when I see her. I got a bunny-shaped one this time.

Not all the ‘big’ dealers went to Doll Show! I got that sailor dress from them at May Dolpa.. I really like their clothes but thanks to Dearmine I was just looking now.

It’s always fun seeing how dealers decorate their booths. This one has a YoSD Kanon sitting up there next to the pink star...I was really tempted to enter the lottery for her back in May along with Renee to be honest, she’s pretty cute with different eyes (I’m not really a fan of the dull-looking eyes Volks gave her).

The heads/eyes of those two girls were for sale...tempting.

So many tiny clothes! I got Jasper’s (my new Dearmine) from here. You can actually see the set in this photo if you look closely...  There was another set I wanted but I didnt have enough for it, although its probably for the best that I got the one I did because the pants are stretchy - they’re made for obitsu11 but dearbeans have bigger thighs and non-stretchy pants might not have even gone on.

Nekomasshigura was also there selling some eyes,

and some custom heads,

and also showing off ‘Vivimol’, a Nekomasshigura original head-sculpt.

I was also surprised that Sen came here, considering they’re an actual store in Tokyo so it seemed weird they’d come all the way down here when Doll Show was much closer. They had some nice stuff and it looks like they brought a sizeable load of their inventory but as before, I didnt want to look too closely as I’d already spent enough money today.

There was some obitsuroid shenanigans next to Dearmine’s booth - I’m not 100% sure if Dearmine were running this too or not.

On to the collection area! It’s very, very small compared to other doll events - especially Dolpa, where the collection area is almost as big as the dealer area, but there was still a lot of dolls set up - most of them MDDs.

Many like these are familiar faces at most doll events in Fukuoka.

I-Doll is organized by the same people that organize a ‘hand-made’ fair called Hand Art Marche, and its typically on the same day close by. During I-Doll in Tokyo, Hand Art Marche is usually also at Big Sight but in a different hall with a separate entry fee. Since Fukuoka’s one is smaller, they put both I-Doll and Hand Art Marche in the same hall, and a ticket for one gets you free entry to the other. I didn’t take any other photos except for this one but they always have a lot of interesting crafts and stuff there - and there’s usually a bit of overlap between the doll and craft people. Anyway, that was I-Doll Fukuoka 8! It was a little smaller than previously, which worked out well because I spent so much at Dearmine. I’d like to see I-Doll Fukuoka get more companies to visit in future!

July 5 - July 12 ♡

my stay in London was amazing and I thought I’d share a little about each day of my stay ♡  Of course I was there mainly for Vivien, and there was just so much, but I referenced my journals and picked out some hi lights <3  ♡ 

July 5 - My Mamita and me arrived in London late at night; on the plane I watched Beauty&TheBeast 2017, read my Vivien book, and listened to Taylor Swift ♡ 

July 6 - National Portrait Gallery day ♡  We met everyone a part of the Vivien Leigh Circle and received a beautiful welcome Vivien tote bag, pin, schedules & such! I found Viv’s portrait in the gallery and even other OH stars (like JoJo Baker!) Me and my mum ate lunch at a pretty little French cafe decorated with vintage French posters ♡ I bought Vivien postcards from the Gallery, and we went to the afternoon lecture with Adrian Woodhouse (when I got his signature!!) and saw so many photos I have never seen of Viv. Then we viewed the Gallery archives of Viv and again saw many photos&clippings of Viv I’ve never seen <33 After we saw Buckingham Palace! <33

July 7 - Dear Vivien rest in peace ♡ V&A Blythe House Vivien archives viewings ♡ Saw SO much (btw I took photos of literally everything I saw this whole week!) Things we got to see include Gertrude Hartley’s Vivien scrapbooks, her beautiful head piece she wore in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Vivien’s journals, and letters Vivien wrote and received ♡ We also saw 2 3D slides of Vivien and they were so amazing it looked as if Viv was right there </3 For lunch me and mum went to another cute outdoor Paris cafe <3 We saw Big Ben, I tried my first gin&tonic (Viv’s fave drink) and it was so good omg. At night was the evening memorial at St.Paul’s “Actor’s” Church. It was so beautiful, my heart was so happy and everyone was there for Vivien <3 The Church was filled with beautiful Vivien photos and white roses, we had champagne to cheers to Vivien, and I even met Tarquin Olivier (who called me pretty and I almost died) and he signed my program <33 almost full moon tonight <3 

July 8 - Walking tour around London of Vivien related sights <3 We visited Durham Cottage, Waterloo Bridge, Eaton Square, the Old Vic, and many theaters <33 We all had white roses and photos of Vivien; My mom and me met another mother/daughter fans and we had lunch with them... we met so many people and fans and everyone was so lovely, I miss them all so much. Later that day I met a black cat with striking green eyes and he sat in my lap <33 Also we had watermelon margaritas :**)

July 9 - “Loving Vivien Leigh” at Queen Mary University - The love we all have for Vivien is just so amazing. We listened to lectures from Vivien authors, and people who personally met and knew Vivien, we all made collages of answers to why we love Vivien and such <3 we had tea and finger foods and Kendra Bean signed my Vivien Leigh book <3 The show and tell was absolutely incredible. It was full of costumes, letters, theater programs, magazines, photos, videos, fan art, dolls .... too amazing ♡ Tonight I had fish and chips, hot peanuts, visited Harrods <33 

July 10 - Visit to Notley Abbey - before leaving I got myself a pretty pink shawl! Notley Abbey was so magical and beautiful. It was Alejandro&Kevin’s wedding anniversary, and they married at Notley, so it was extra special! seeing photos of how Vivien decorated Notley comparing them to how it looks today was so surreal. We had tea and biscuits, toured the grounds, and had a lovely day all together. We went out for a group dinner, saw new photos of Vvien’s beloved Tickerage Mill (which I sadly could not attend to see the following day) and visited a Vivien ground mosaic ♡ 

July 11 - last day in London - Visited the V&A to see Vivien costumes and such <33 Saw her Duel of Angels Christian Dior gown, Caesar and Cleopatra headdress and costume sketch, and a little archive viewing display <3 After, we got to experience some England rain and had high tea in a gorgeous Italian cafe (I had sweet peach for Scarlett!) We finished up some shopping and went to The Ivy for dinner <3 (where Vivien would go to eat when she was just beginning theater shows) and had Sheppherd’s pie with pink rose and cappuccino after. 

July 12 - Traveling back to NY I watched Julie and Julia the film and had Darjeeling tea for Viv <33

Friday Faves

Hi friends! Happy Friday and happy last weekend of 2018. I feel like I haven’t seen you in so long! We have so much catching up to do. I’ve spent the past week enjoying the holidays with the crew and each day has been incredibly full. There were many days that have blurred together – so often I can’t remember what we did yesterday – and this week, I’ve found myself constantly wondering what’s happening and what day of the week it is.

The girls are the best ages right now and it’s been my favorite winter break so far. We go to bed, and instead of feeling totally spent, I can’t wait to wake up and do it all over again. I also don’t miss school drop off AT ALL. We’ve slept until at least 8 or 8:30 every day (a Christmas miracle! Just don’t ask what time we go to sleep), and it’s such a treat to enjoy slow mornings instead of the usually before-school hustle. We’ve had such a blast together already and I’m already sad we only get one more week of break. Yesterday while I was putting Christmas stuff away, P said, “Why are you taking down the decorations?” I explained that Christmas was over so it was time to put things away and get ready for New Years. She said, “I’m so sad right now. I miss Christmas already.” Me too, girl.

Some fun pics from the past week:

Gingerbread decorating party with the cousins. I picked up these gingerbread sets at World Market on Black Friday and they were PRE-ASSEMBLED, which was clutch. We listened to Christmas music while we decorated, and the kiddos ate about 5 pieces for every one that went on their house. Doin’ it right. 

Cheese board from our girls’ night gift exchange. My friend asked me to make a board, so I rolled up with my enormous paddle and all of the cheeses/toppings in a bag. It still came together pretty well and I added some festive touches (rosemary, pomegranate) along with the usual staples (different cheeses, charcuterie, Skinny Dipped almonds, Whisps, Simple Mills crackers, olives, jam, mustard, dried fruit, fresh fruit, etc.).

Holiday nails. I still love the dip powder! I found an awesome place in Tucson if any of my local friends want the info. 

Christmas Eve, getting ready to head to my dad’s house. We feasted on tamales, enchiladas, beans, rice, and a festival of desserts before opening gifts with dad’s side of the fam. The weather was also gorgeous so all of the cousins could run around and play on their backyard playground.

Our favorite guy was missing the festivities, but we’re excited to see his face again soon.

No egg nog was consumed in his honor. It just isn’t the same without him exploding it all over the kitchen.

Santa came!! The girls were pumped. They loved all of their gifts, but some of the hits were the melting snowman in their stocking, the enormous giraffe, this doll house, this ET book, and their Caboodles. They’ve absolutely loved filling them with little treasures. P also asked for “gym clothes” this year – I told you guys that she’s really into running right now – so she really enjoyed trying on all of her new outfits. She’s rocked athleisure every day this week.

My dad and stepmom got Liv a Hatchimal and watching that thing hatch was a hoot. We were all huddled around the Hatchimal intrigued and elated by everything that was happening. You’d think a live baby animal was being born at my dad’s house. No, it was an electronic bird pecking its way out of a giant toy egg. What is this life?

Cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning. We had brunch here at the house, so I made nana’s famous egg dish, the best cinnamon rolls, mimosas, and coffee, and madre brought over tamales, rice, beans, grammies, and coffee cake. I also set out a cookie tray from all of the baking we did over the past couple of weeks. (It makes it so easy to freeze everything and they set it all out on xmas. It tastes totally fresh and you can have a better variety that way!) We spent the day eating, opening gifts, drinking mimosas, and watching Christmas Story before heading out to see the new Mary Poppins movie. (I LOVED Lin and Emily Blunt, but don’t hate me.. I found the music to be underwhelming. We still had a great time and let’s be real, if you put me in a dark room with an enormous vat of popcorn I’m going to be happy no matter what happens.)
