When I'm feeling shifty I really wish people would just treat me more like a cat. Like. Pet me when I want to be petted. Throw things for me to chase. Even better if there's another cat therian/catkin/feline nonhuman to act like a cat with me (play-fighting and stuff)

I just wanna say some kind words and how brave you are to post this service of giving nonhuman gear thats nearly non existent. Nonhumans barely have anything to relieve dysphoria and while im a female sea creature ive talked about wanting top surgery for that reason. Its crazy that people dont see the correlation. It truly is amusing that humans and therians that are against you turn around and never bat an eye at monster gear. I always pull up the analogy that therians are basically like magical talking feral animals. Therians are not inherently into non talking feral animals that don't understand humans. Wanting a transspecies partner doesn't mean you are into nontalking animals. Wanting to be seen as an animal during intimacy with your partner isn't wrong. Your human partner seeing you truly as a talking animal isn't wrong, because you have equal power bc what makes something abuse is power dynamics. so really if yall really care about being abuse police then please learn about power dynamics in relationships, and know that anatomy isn't the problem here.

SALLY STARLET NAME-GIVING OBSERVATIONS

Okay, this is just a small theory, but I've noticed how Sally interacts with her fellow neighbors, and I have guesses on how she addresses them, and whether that shows her respect for them (which may change as the Welcome Home timeline becomes clearer to navigate).

To do so, I will list the characters based on whether they are the most or least respected, to make the tier list clear.

SALLY STARLET🌈⭐️: Mainly tiering her first for the ENORMOUS amount of self-respect she has. From that, we can see that she isn't one to lengthen, fancify, or change her moniker in any sort of way or form. She is, of course, Sally Starlet! The kind of pride and integrity that she has for herself is one of her more redeemable qualities, at least in my opinion.

POPPY PARTRIDGE🥧🧶: Sally's home-bodied galpal may be second on the list, but she is the only other neighbor that she constantly calls by her own name. Not to mention the fact that Poppy is the only neighbor that Sally will constantly praise for her talents, try to break out of her isolating lifestyle, and admit her mistakes and goof-ups to (which is something Sally has too much pride to do with any other neighbor)! From that, I can safely say that Sally holds Poppy in the highest regard (maybe even higher than platonically expected, we shall see), which shows through the lack of name fancification.

BARNABY B. BEAGLE🌭🎉: I am mainly putting Barnaby here for now, as he is the only other neighbor yet to be called a fancy moniker, but tends to get Sally riled up for the sake of it. It has often been stated how segments with Sally's plays will often be changed in some silly shape or form, mainly by Barnaby wanting to mess with her (similar to the Fractured Fairytales segment from Rocky and Bullwinkle). She could respect him as a fellow lover of theater and show-biz (as they play around a bit, like in Eddie's Big Lift), but I will hold off on speculations until the update next week.

JULIE JOYFUL💐🎳: This colorful character will be called both "Juliet" and her own name when Sally is exasperated with her. From their interactions, Sally seems to be patient enough around Julie and will be tolerant of the changes to stories and plays that she comes up with.

WALLY DARLING🎨🍎: Our gracious host will be called "Walliford" or his own name for similar reasons. Like any other neighbor, Sally has a fondness for Wally, despite his lack in acting skills, and will ask him for help with prop creation and directing assistance.

HOWDY PILLAR🐛🍓: The neighborhood grocer has only been called "Howardson". Sally seems to have no ill will toward Howdy, and will often call upon him for plays due to his acting skills (which unfortunately lead to advertising his store). Sally seemed to a jab at Howdy from time to time, but can easily be swayed by his scam tactics.

HOME🏡🥞: Has only been called by her own name, and we have yet to see any direct interactions between them and Sally.

FRANK FRANKLY🦋🍮: I have only heard Sally call Frank "Fred" while introducing him, so take that as you will (at least until there is a clearer timeline).

EDDIE DEAR✉️🥖: Poor, poor Eddie. He doesn't even get the privilege of being called a proper name. Sally will often refer to Mr. Dear as the "mailman", and will expect him to wait on her like a servant. To be clear, she isn't the only one to overwork or demean him because nearly every neighbor does so (with the exceptions of Wally, Poppy, and maybe Frank). But at least most neighbors have the decency to call Eddie by his name in any form (though this may show my bias, cause I kin Eddie in many respects).

Anywho, thats all I have to say for Sally, till the update! This is mainly just a drabble of sorts, but feel free to say your piece! Constructively, of course.

a beagle's past memories 🐾

Okay, so yesterday night I thought of how I would handle the triplets' or the Beagle Boys' individuality in my own works. And I came to the conclusion I would make them a hive mind 90% of the time, but make it so they each have unique characteristics that are consitent throughout every story, that are also not very noticable on a casual read.

And then I jokingly said I am going to give characteristics like that, to every member of the Beagle Boys that appears in my favorite Uncle Scrooge story; Only a Poor Old Man (all 9 of them!).

So, of course after making such jokes I decides to actually do it, and I spent 90 minutes researching and writing this, so here you go!

Firstly 176-831: he is the goofball who things often tend to workout for. The reason is because he goofed off and went fishing and found Scrooge's hding spot along the way.

Now for 176-824 and 176-825: 176-824 is a pretty good liar who is always pretty suspicous of Scrooge while 176-825 always goes along with 176-824 and spoiling his lies with obvious "wink wink" behaviors. The reasons are that in this panel 176-824 makea a pretty natural lie, while 176-825 makes it seem obvious it's a lie. The reason for 176-824 to be always suspicous of Scrooge is that he was the one directly lied to when Scroogw told the Beagle Boys to jump in his money (and they broke their heads because of this). So I think it makes sense it would turn his suspicios of Scrooge.

Continuing to 176-840 and 176-830: 176-840 is the planner and sort of leader and 176-830 usually tags along to 176-840 and likes to listen to his plans in order to help. The reasons are that 176-840 is the one who came up with the plan who ultimately beat Scrooge, and 176-830 is the first one to take action in executing the plan after 176-840 told them about it.

Now, for 176-838 it's quite simple: 176-838 is a very proud Beagle Boy who will always lift up his kin (sometimes into defeat). The reason is that in this panel, when Scrooge beat them in eveey turn, he is the one that tells his brothers they haven't l lost yet!

176-836 is the most practical Beagle Boy who wants usually wants to get away with the score as soon as possible (but he still falls to Scrooge's schemes most of the time). The reason is that after beating Scrooge, his first thought is to go to court and claim his money, very practical.

With 176-837 I think it's kinda funny: 176-837 would be the one usually the Beagle Boys depend on to help them out in the last minute, their trump card, if you will, even though he screws up every time and doesn't seem to have any special talent. The reason is that his only appearence in this comic is this panel, he shows up at the very last minute and makes no impact, the Beagles still lose.

Finally, 186-811: 176-811 is the slacker who does nothing for the team and mostly hangs out in the background. The reason is basically that he doesn't appear anywhere besides the lines I recently discovered that imply 9 Beagle Boys in the story, and maybe this blurred(?) number in this panel, and he does nothing in that one either, so I think it makes sense for him to be a slacker.

I actally discovered his existence only a few days ago when I realized those lines look like the rough Beagle Boys to the right of them, and the colorists probably just didn't notice! I originally wanted to male his number 176-832, because that is the average of all the Beagle Boy's numbers here, but I then discovered that in the last panel shown, you can barely make out 176-811, so I decided to go with that.

So yes, to answer your question: I am clinically insane.

A Quick Note on Death and Therianthropy

TW: mentions of animal death. Nothing super graphic but I thought I would make it as obvious as I can.

I wish there were more discussion about therianthropic origins that are outside of the spiritual/psychological/physical … like there are so many ways to be a therian or become one that I don’t see discussed at all. I also don’t know if there’s any discussion being had on how pet death may affect therianthropy, which is most of what I want to talk about here.

For example, my scenthound dog theriotype is specifically of emotional origin. I had never heard of anyone describing their experience this way , and I started using this term for myself nearly a year ago because calling my dog type just “psychological” didn’t feel right. I also think there may be a past life connected to this type as well, but I feel less focused on that part

This theriotype specifically came from my childhood dog and her death. She was a boxer beagle mix. Her death is integral to my identity because it happened right around the time I was questioning being a Vizsla dog, and it changed my perception of that theriotype forever. I was no longer a Vizsla but rather a mixed/uncertain breed of scenthound dog, and how I view myself as this theriotype has permanently changed to look more like my childhood dog. Dark masking, occasionally white markings, black claws against tan paws… quite the opposite of the uniform color of the Vizsla, who is a golden rust from nose to claw.

While I still do feel connected to Vizslas, especially the general short haired dog with floppy ears look and their behaviors, they just aren’t quite *me* anymore because of this.

I feel like pet death, or even just death in general is overlooked as a source of therianthropy or certain theriotypes… I think ultimately it comes from a place of deep empathy, which is why I felt “emotional kin” was more accurate to my experience than “psychological kin”. Thinking about this really makes me wonder how many experiences and awakenings aren’t talked about that include death in some way. Are there bovine therians who awakened as such after seeing one die on a farm? Are there deer therians who saw one of their own being hunted and realized then that they were one? Are there therians who found their kintype after being exposed to taxidermy of them? And, are there others like me who witnessed the death of their beloved nonhuman family member and watched their identity shift right before their eyes? What about therians with family and close friends who are therians? When they die, will they feel the sudden pull to “adopt” the theriotypes of their loved ones, so that a part of them is always there? So many questions, and I fear not enough research or discussion to answer them. It’s interesting to think about, at the very least.
