Ran into this gorgeous sand rosary made with sand from Harwich, Cape Cod. The blue and white pater beads reminded me of the cresting waves crashing and foaming on the shore 💕

This gorgeous bracelet was inspired by New Hampshire's Mt. Monadnock. Beads from soil are combined with purple amethyst beads (to represent the "purple mountain majesty") and green stones (to represent the pine trees that dot Monadnock year-round). These mountain beads are a gorgeous way to wear your favorite hiking and bird-watching locations!
Available in bronze, gold, and silver. Featuring beads crafted from soil. These are a perfect accessory for the Mt. Monadnock Purple Finch Earrings!

Totally in love! Sent off a gold "The Hike" necklace today and it is absolutely gorgeous. The colors work so well together with the gold wire giving it even more of a fall feeling. And I love the gold claddagh clasp with the green tree agate beads 😍😍😍

Shipping an elephant bracelet today - with beads made from Nepal sand! I love the adorable elephants; the mix of gold, red, grey, and cream; and of course the gorgeous sand from Nepal's Indravati River (with mica chips that make it sparkle!) 🐘

Wedding Walk
Baluva recently participated in a Wedding Walk!
The walk was held in Peterborough, NH at Depot Square. I was not only very excited to be featured in the walk, but honored to have the booth at the Sharon Arts Center.
Tumblr media
For as long as I have lived in New Hampshire, I have known about the Sharon Arts Center and the New Hampshire Institute of Art. I admire their work in promoting local artists and was beyond excited to have a booth in the shop for the day!
Check out their Facebook and information about the Sharon Arts Center on the NHIA website.

Camp Erin Breakfast!
One thing I am really excited about is volunteering with Camp Erin.
Camp Erin is a bereavement camp for children and teens. As someone who lost her father at a young age, I would have loved attending this camp.
I recently met up with one of the camp’s volunteers, Pam. She has been an incredible resource for me and I look forward to seeing her every camp session. Her compassion, energy, and enthusiasm for Camp Erin is evident in everything she does. And I was incredibly touched this year when she came and gave me a Camp Erin quilt - I officially felt like I was part of the family!

Meeting up with Pam has made me very excited for this summer’s Camp Erin session! The Moyer Foundation is such an amazing organization and it’s such an honor to work with them.

Inspiration and the resulting design: This three-strand Swarovski crystal necklace and earring set was created for one of my friends. The inspiration comes from when my sister and I went out to visit her. One of the things we did was watch the sun set off the Santa Monica Pier. It was so beautiful that I decided to use it as inspiration, combining the pink crystals with the sand to highlight the sun's pink glow. It was so much fun to make!

Rainy Day Earrings
Tumblr media
Making some earrings for loved ones on this rainy day. Sand from Iceland, Egypt, and Igiugig, Alaska (respectively). I love this mother-of-pearl earring design. It's so simple and classy. And I LOVE that these beads, made from sand all around the world, are going to make their way to Australia!

Working on some beads from Igiugig, Alaska on this rainy day! I have sand from two beaches there. I’ve already worked with the black sand and am very excited to start on their precious white sand.

Hydrangea Rosary
Tumblr media
I made this one-of-a-kind rosary because the lavender color of these beads reminded me of the beautiful hydrangeas that bloom on the Cape every summer. To round off the whole theme, the pater beads are made from Cape Cod sand!

Baluva’s Wire-Wrapped Malas
Tumblr media
These beads are made from desert sand given to me by a friend. I wire-wrapped them into a 108-bead mala. The sand turned out absolutely beautiful and looks gorgeous with the bronze wire. I absolutely love the red soil and hope to get to the American Southwest some time to see it for myself!

Craft Fairs!
It’s craft fair season and I will occasionally sign Baluva up for one. Here’s a photo from the Harwich Cranberry Festival’s July craft fair.
Tumblr media
My favorite part of craft fairs is talking to people. I love hearing about their favorite and most meaningful places. I talked to someone once about her deceased son’s favorite place and ways for her to incorporate that into a necklace she could wear to remember him. There was another couple who told me about their beach wedding and ways to incorporate it into an ornament. The love people have for a place breathes life into it.
While it is rewarding to talk to customers and hear stories, there’s a lot that goes into craft fairs. And it’s not just the prep - though that is a big part of it. For example, I have an old wrist injury that has been flaring lately while I work on jewelry, so my turnover rate has been slow. But besides that, being “on” all day with a chronic disease isn’t easy. To combat any flares, I pack a ton of water, food, and a few things to help with pain if I start feeling bad. The biggest lifesaver, though, is going to these fairs with people you know. It’s always fun to share that experience (and to have someone watch my booth while I run to the bathroom!).
That said, this time, my friend Stacey (from Golden Anchor Art) also had a booth. It was so great to bond for the weekend because we don’t get to see each other as much as we want. We were both absolutely beat after the show wrapped up, though!
Tumblr media
(There’s a reason we look this good - it’s still the morning!)
The Harwich Cranberry Festival craft fair was a ton of fun - and I can’t wait for the next fair to hear more stories and connect with more people!
