Oh my God I'm in love with this!!

Like absolutely Ian would be that gay boy working at Victoria's secret. I feel like if he worked on commission he'd be such a good salesman and get so many upsells or just huge purchases from being able to be eye candy and a stand-in gbf for the ladies.

Mickey is always hanging around the tills with Ian, shooting the shit when he's bored cause nothing is going on. He'll be chatting with Ian and someone will make some passive aggressive remark about him changing the energy in the store, implying like he shouldn't be in there if he's a straight dude, like just perving on girls, so when he says goodbye to Ian he tugs him down for the most ridiculously lurid kiss, and gives him a smack on the ass for good measure, "Catch you in the food court, carrot top."

Lunches at the food court 🥰🥰🥰 I legit stupidly love food court food and I just want Mickey to be able to get all his favorites sitting in the pretty glass atrium with an orange Julius and a crazy overfilled combo from Panda Express or the teriyaki/stir fry places that are in every food court, shake shack, auntie Anne's, cinnabon, Ian gets pissed when he eats Chick-fil-A, but the franchise owner is actually really cool and chill. ok so. this isn't going to be as articulate as i'd like but i'm also very sleep deprived. i will do my best.

i've made the observation previously that fandoms in general tend to be Weird about gender non-conforming men. things like only seeing us through the lens of sexual fetish, failing to reconcile that a GNC man is still a Man, viewing us as being sinful/deviant/promiscuous/bad queer rep, etc.

but! there's something as of late that i've seen the OFMD fandom do. and it is new. i have never in my life seen something like this.

people are now talking about the GNC men in the show... as if they are women. and criticizing OFMD by bringing up misogynistic tropes... and applying them to the men.

which is... not how any of this works. full stop.

i've seen people insist that stede "became the love interest this season who has no arc or depth aside from being a boytoy to ed. and has given up his career for his man."

which, first of all, bonkers take. this entire season is about stede and ed independently going through their own developmental arcs and trying to figure out who they are + what they want. second of all............ stede isn't a woman!

seeing "ugh, he prioritized his love for a man over his career" framed as a negative instead of an active inversion. and it comes across to me as more homophobic than anything. "ugh... he did this for a MAN." well, yes. because stede is gay. and he is in love for the first time in his life. and he is allowed to want a soft, quiet life with his boyfriend. stede has always struggled in his comphet marriage and has wanted nothing more than to have agency to live the way he wants to and to be in a relationship that is fulfilling to him, with a partner that appreciates his quirks and interests. why are you treating this like a form of misogyny when it is about TWO MEN.

next, seeing people describe izzy hand's death as "fridging." i know that this is part of a wider problem of fans who feel the need to lash out because their favorite character is gone, and find a way to justify their anger (you're allowed to just be Mad btw. you don't need a reason.)

the problem is.... fridging is very specifically the critique of a WOMAN being killed off to further a MAN'S journey. and it also typically occurs at the BEGINNING of a narrative, because it is usually the CATALYST. a man is overcome by grief and wants revenge for what happened to his wife, or his girlfriend, or whatever. this does not work for a MAN being killed off at the END of a narrative, whose death does NOT inspire a wider revenge plot by the person grieving him. like, yeah, zheng wants revenge for her fleet being destroyed and auntie being put in danger, but ed isn't interested in fighting.

it's. well. it's very strange to me. and people are talking about these things as if it's a widespread issue. i'd much rather people talk about the actual issues GNC men face rather than inventing ones on the spot. are you going to insist that stede suffers from the "dumb blonde" trope too and how ruinous this is to Men Everywhere? or that ed's mental health arc is proof that women men are too emotional and should never be in a leadership position, lest a boy break their heart and they have feelings over it? please... some fresh air is needed. some sun. some grass.

(sidebar: i personally do not view izzy as GNC. doing drag one time does not a femme make, and he goes back to being femmephobic by the finalé. but this not change wider fandom perception of the character, which is why i've included him here. apparently, one instance of drag is enough to have people talking about him the same way people talk about the other characters. such is the curse of male effeminacy 😔)

Blankie! (Krashlyn x child!reader)

A/N: I changed it from a pacifier to a blanket. Also was anyone ever going to mention the gender neutral term for niece/nephew?!

Nibling. It’s so freaking adorable.

Sorry for any mistakes, please enjoy.

Blankie is often what Y/n called the blanket Aunt Lyssa had gifted to the small child.

It didn’t seem like much but to Y/n it was the greatest thing in the world.

Keeping the monsters at bay and acting as a shield whenever it was around Y/n, it was hard to separate the two.

Ash had often resorted to getting up in the earlier hours of the day, seeking into the child’s bedroom and grabbing the blanket to wash it.

Ali was a bit more forward with it, but making a promise that Blankie would always come back nice and warm from the dryer really helped.

But unfortunately, on a day like today, neither methods were an option.

Today was one of Y/n’s soccer games that were with kids around the same age, some a little older but not by a lot.

Y/n was use to mom and mommy towering over like giants, Y/n was even okay with Sam at the height she was. But those were all people; to Y/n, who would never hurt a fly.

The older kids on the field were a different story. Y/n had seen some of them play before, and the height advantage they had didn’t help one bit.

“Hey bubs, what’s up?” Aunt Chrissy and Aunt Toby were visiting Orlando on a brief trip they couldn’t resist seeing their nibling’s first soccer game. Along with Aunt Kelley, who was currently analyzing Y/n’s opponents.

“Don’t like ‘em.” They both narrowed their eyes looking where Y/n was, to see if they would see who Y/n was talking about.

“Who bubs?”

“Other team. Tall and scary.” Y/n brought Blankie closer, using it as cover.

“I promise they won’t get you, bubs.”

Y/n still had a look of uncertainty, Ash and Ali came up to their family, done getting the chairs and snacks from the car.

“Still no like ‘em.”

Ash and Ali gave each other a confused look, looking at Christen or Tobin to clarify.

“Y/n doesn’t like the players on the other team because they’re tall and scary.”

Ash and Ali suddenly understood why Y/n was clutching onto the blanket tighter than normal.

“Hey Y/n, I promise they’re just like your Aunties when you play soccer with them. They’re just more your age, okay?”

Y/n still wasn’t completely okay with going onto the field.

“And what Mama said, remember Blankie can’t go on the field with you.”

Y/n held Blankie tighter if it was even possible.

Kelley had been listening to the conversation, walking over to Y/n.

“Hey kid listen...” Kelley started to whisper to Y/n until Y/n had a small look of shock Kelley pulling away, “Think you can do that for me, kid?”

Y/n nodded quickly running over to Ash, “Here Mama. You need Blankie more ‘em me.”

Y/n jogging over to the team the kid was on left Ali to ask, “Kelley what did you say to our child.”

“Oh nothing just that Mama needed Blankie to keep the homophobic snakes away.”

“O’Hara you are so dead!”

The game wasn’t as intense as any of the women were use to, more of a game of pass than anything.

Y/n was doing well but it didn’t help being one of the younger kids there, the older ones taking over the ball and the game.

But as the family watched the ball being worked down the field, they also saw Y/n running with an older kid next to Y/n who was doing a fast jog.

Ali and Ash knew it was nothing, just two kids running next to each other.

Except when the older kid started to slow down, Y/n took the advantage to go in front, the older kid now tailing Y/n.

Everything seemed to be going fine until Y/n tripped on thin air.

Going down fast the older kid didn’t have time to stop, stepping on Y/n’s ankle. The kid moved off as fast as possible, once they could.

Ash was the first one on the field, not caring if the game was still in play, Ali close behind her wife.

Once the ref realized what happened, he stopped the game, going over to Y/n.

Y/n sat up, eyes glossing over, holding the ankle.

“Hey how bad does it hurt bubs?” Ashlyn asked while trying to see the ankle.

“Bad.” Was all Y/n said.

“Hey we need to see your ankle Y/n, can you move your hands?” Ali’s soft voice made Y/n comply, wanting the pain to stop. Ali rubbing Y/n’s back, trying to calm Y/n down.

They could tell it wasn’t broken, worried it could still be serious Ash grabbed Y/n and carried the kid off of the field.

Setting Y/n down in one of the chairs, Ali and Ash take another look at the ankle, Ali says, “We need to take Y/n to a doctor, have an x-ray. Just to make sure it’s nothing.”

“Yeah, that’s probably the best thing to do.”

Y/n held Blankie close as the doctor came back in with the x-ray, “Well, good news, it turns out it’s just a bad sprain.” All of the women were relieved but Y/n was still nervous with the doctor in the room.

“Just keep some ice on it, we’ll send you home with some painkillers that are also muscle relaxers and it should heal up in less than a week.”

The moms thanked the doctor who headed out, Ash helping Y/n down from the big chair, “You ready to go home bubs?”

Y/n nodded, already trying to rush out the door.

Ash held Y/n against her chest, the young one ready to fall asleep, Ash slowly rocked Y/n.

“Shhhh, go to sleep bubs, you need it.” Heading to Y/n’s room, Ash laid Y/n in the small bed. Ali following to tuck Y/n in. Making sure Blankie was covering Y/n.

Ash kneeling next to Y/n while Ali was sitting on the edge of the bed.

Ali started to hum a lullaby her mom use to sing to her, Ash rubbing Y/n’s head, making sure Y/n fell into a deep sleep.

Anti-Gay Censorship in CDrama and US Drama: A Comparison

Chinese Censorship: As long as you can plausibly tell any children in the room that your characters are not fucking and are not literally gay married, go ahead and let your characters be their best gay selves. 

If characters love each other deeply and want to express it through words and actions, that’s cool, just find a word that isn’t, like, “husband” or “wife” for their relationship.  知己  is a good one!  But “like a true sister/true brother” is also acceptable. Obvious tenderness and joy in each others’ presence? Totally great! 

Men, in particular, should have and express a full range of feelings; if they are very emotionally repressed, they need a good friend to help them overcome that strange, unhealthy way of being.

Adopting kids together? Sure! The kids can call both parents some variant of Aunt or Uncle but it’s also cute if they just add “Dad” to each parent’s surname.

Again, as long as you can plausibly say that their two dads aren’t fucking each other--even if they are no women in sight for decades at a time and they take every meal together and give each other backrubs--it’s all good, and in fact is a lovely way to tell a story about a family.

As for happy endings - well, unless it’s a comedy, *someone* has to die tragically so they can be reunited in their next life, right? Because otherwise is it even a story? 

Beautiful mourning and funeral scenes are such a great way to show how deeply characters care for each other, as well as being an opportunity for craploads of exposition, as characters explain the plot to their deceased loved ones.

But when deciding who to kill, it’s ok if the hetero characters take the hit. (If you can kill them within minutes of their wedding that’s optimal, but it’s also fine to kill them at another important occasion). Please make sure that anyone (gay or straight) who can’t have a happy ending in the current story promises to meet their true love in the next life. We don’t exactly encourage spiritual stuff, but we’re not made of stone. 

If you insist on having your queers stay alive and end up clearly together, make sure you can prove you’re doing it to extract extra money from the audience. (Again, though: can you even call it a romance if nobody dies? isn’t it weird if nobody dies? *wistful sigh.*) If audiences want to pay extra for the novelty of queer characters not dying, that’s awesome and you should milk them for every yuan.  

American Censorship

As long as the evangelical Christians who keep our advertisers on speed dial can be 100% convinced that a hero isn’t gay, we’re good. So if the hero cares deeply about their best friend, they should separate at the end of the story.  Also they should punch things or people whenever they have a feeling about anything, to prove they are masculine and therefore not gay. And they should randomly make out with opposite-sex hotties if any are available.  

Bonus points if the hottie has also made out with the other point of the definitely-not-love triangle at some point, because that means neither dude is gay. 

Women who are friendly with other women, or who have, like, practical hairstyles, should talk about wanting babies. Our advertisers know that all women want babies and the only way to have one is by being heterosexually married to a dude.

If your heroine has a bestie who actually has a child already, the child should call your heroine “Auntie” because that’s what straight ladies like to be called. 

If you want to have obvious gay people in your show, you need to either make it for a subscription channel like Netflix, that doesn’t need ad revenue, or put them in a scene that can be completely cut out when the homophobes notice it.  

For bonus points, blame Chinese censors when you refuse to have gay main characters in your franchise! Even though your films flop so hard in China that they barely cover the cost of marketing. 

Even on a subscription service, if you want your queer character to openly declare their love for their partner, it’s best to have them do it in response to harassment or death or feeling upset about something, not because they’re, like, happy.  

When a gay character dies - which they should, because otherwise is it even a story? - some other characters can have a brief conversation to indicate that they were gay and somebody noticed that they died. 

If the character was super important, their friends should have an informal gathering to celebrate their memory, rather than a proper funeral. 

Proper funerals are for proper people.

We've seen companies lie on their talents and coerce the idols to say and do certain things to hide stuff. It happens all the time.

JIKOOK NOT LIVING TOGETHER

Honestly speaking, I haven't read too too much into them sharing rides more so than I do with the things they say that hints at their living situation: Jimin saying he loves to wake up next to Jungkook, describing how Jk snores to the members while they all listen keenly as if they've never shared a room with Kook too, saying he was with Kook at 4am caressing a phone in his hands and all those other moments.

I've gotten dragged by my edges for saying this in the past but I'll say it again, a lot points to or pointed to them cohabiting. Especially since Jimin didn't have his own habitable space in his name when everyone else had. They do live together.

BUT NOT ALL THE TIME.

That still is my response when I see people fighting over the internet about this car sharing thingy. Jungkook is not the only member Jimin stays with- now he has his own place so he must be living by himself. But historically, JK is not the only one he's stayed with.

I mean, I've joked one or two times about Jimin locking Kook out of his own house or even choosing to stay with friends for a while during arguments. Don't that presuppose I believe their living arrangement is situational?

If you watch Run episodes or the behind scenes you would know there are instances where they each arrive on set separately which seem to imply they arrive to set from different locations. Why come to set at different times if y'all are coming from the same place and share the same car??

Then sometimes the things the members would say would raise questions, like Taehyung saying he asked Jimin to come over on JK's birthday or Jin asking to wait for Jimin at the dorms after schedule on his birthday when Jimin was riding with Kook.

Of course Jimin told him he couldn't make it which implied to me he and Jin go home together sometimes too- either cos he lives around Jin's house or sleeps on Jin's couch. (Humor intended somewhere😅)

This of course is corroborated by moments he's shared videos of himself with Jin riding home together after work- having a sing song along the way etc.

And if you backtrack you'd notice its something that had been going on since his birthday in October. Because during the concert we saw them sharing a ride but in subsequent Run they were coming to set at different times and somewhere in December is when he'd told Jin he wouldn't be able to make it back to the dorm- someone did the walk of shame the next day I just know it🤭

Personally, I wouldn't make much of it as it's always been like that even before October. There are moments you see them consistently sharing rides and some moments they are not. Why? I don't know. Could be family visiting one of them, a fight, where need of personal space, literally a myriad of things. They are adults not kids anymore.

They share rides sometimes because it's convenient- whether because it takes them to the same vicinity or schedule. If it's not convenient for them to share a ride- either because they have different schedules or aren't going to the same vicinity- then what's the big deal?

When you say Jikook are not living together, I hope it's not to insinuate they are broken up or anything like that??

Other than that, I think the logic is simple, if you think they live together because they share a car then certainly now that they are not sharing are car then they don't live together. It's as simple as that.

I think for some of us, saying they live together is because of more than the mere riding a car together and more so about the things they say about eachother together with that carpooling situation. For instance, thanks to Jimin we know Namjoon has his own home and don't live with the others. If he shared a car with Suga it wouldn't mean he lived with Suga.

It's the same with Jikook.

Like I said, Jungkook is the one with the place. What if his family comes to visit and having Jimin there is inconvenient?? What if his friends come to visit? Or he just needs his space?? What happens to Jimin if they live together? Does he hide in the broom closet then??
