PhantomBat Next Gen 2.0

I remade this post bc I’ve been thinking about it for awhile lmao (click for clarity)

The numbers symbolize age, so 1 is the oldest, and 12 is the youngest. Each square also separates each family. And ofc, these are my preferred ships so maybe your idea of the PhantomBat next gen is different.

Details are always susceptible to change, but notes and details (very long) are below:

1) Abigail “Abby” Crystal Weston: (31 years old) the adopted daughter of Stephanie and Wes. She is Stephanie’s biological daughter that she gave up for adoption when she was 15. When Stephanie got pregnant for the 2nd time with her son, she felt depressed and guilty for her first child. Wes used his investigative abilities and connections to find her daughter and they discovered that she was still unadopted. They quickly adopted her and only years later did they tell her the truth. She is a civilian, but is aware of her family’s activities and acts as an alibi. Fun fact: she is married and has a daughter!

2) Jove Dillon Gordon: (24 years old) He is the adopted child of Barbara Gordon and Valerie Gray. Originally part of the DP universe, he became a liminal through contamination and accidentally transported himself into the DC universe. He was adopted by Barbara and when his origins were revealed, Valerie stepped in to help (and then they fell in love). He’s a hero named Rabbit and has teleportation and time/matter manipulation abilities that he hasn’t fully discovered yet. Fun fact: he is albino!

3) Marillyn “Mari” Maddy Grayson: (24 years old) Dick and Dan’s only child. Her conception was an accident because Dan didn’t think he could get pregnant, but when it happened, they were overjoyed. She is extremely mischievous, free-spirited, and a bit arrogant, but she is brave and bold, often the first one to defend her family. She is a hero who takes on the name Flamebird to fight alongside Dick. She has pretty strong halfa powers and can switch between forms as a hero. Fun fact: She is best friends with Elinor and the two usually travel together.

4) Elinor “Ella” Catherine Nightingale: (24 years old) Jason and Jazz’s oldest daughter. She is tall and very intelligent, having gained both of her parents’ literature loving habits. Compared to Mari, she is more mature and responsible, but she still enjoys a fun time. She has no powers, and takes on the name of Romola as a hero with wolf motifs like Jazz. Fun fact: Her face is a female version of Jason’s!

5) Seth Austin Weston: (24 years old) Wes and Stephanie’s oldest son. He is a great investigator and brawler like Steph. He works as a hero by the name of Warning, since he wanted to have a somewhat similar name to Spoiler. He can be abrasive and he focuses on the big picture rather than details, but he is protective and very loyal. Fun fact: He is considered a player by his cousins.

6) Thomas “Tommy” Bruce Drake-Kent: (20 years old) Tim, Kon, and Dani’s oldest son. When he was young, his dream was to take over the world. He still has that dream as he’s older, and he is extremely successful in taking the steps necessary to recreate the world into a utopia. He is a civilian with no powers, but he uses his money and skills to support and provide for his brother and cousins. He has a bit of brother-complex, but he just really loves his family. Fun fact: He takes advantage of the fact that he has Vlad, Lex, and Bruce as grandparents to further his goals.

7) Alfonso “Alfie” B Nightingale: (20 years old) Jason and Jazz’s only son. He is the twin of Marianne and is the middle child. He has no powers and takes on the name of Remus as a hero with wolf motifs like his mom. He and Elinor are the wolves to Marianne’s Little Red Riding Hood. He is quiet and serious, but he has a soft side. It’s also said that he looks a lot like Bruce. Fun fact: He used to have a very long emo phase!

8) Marianne “Annie” Talia Nightingale: (20 years old) Jason and Jazz’s youngest daughter. She is the twin of Alfonso and is the youngest. She has no powers and takes on the mantle of Little Red in replacement of Jason (he is alive, just mostly retired). She is cheerful and air headed, but she can be a bit trigger happy and has a temper. However, out of her entire family, her strength is extremely strong. Fun fact: She got her blonde hair from her paternal grandmother! (Sheila Haywood)

9) Melia “Mel” Misty Wayne: (18 years old) Danny and Cass’ oldest daughter. She is the twin of Daphne. She is rowdy, mischievous and careless, but also very empathetic and compassionate. She has halfa powers and uses them as a hero named Omen. Like Marillyn, she can also switch between forms as a hero. Her core is one of water. Fun fact: Both she and her sister are extremely talkative, which Cass loves.

10) Daphne “Daph” Rain Wayne: (18 years old) Danny and Cass’ youngest daughter. She is the twin of Melia. She is quiet and shy, but also very brave and excitable when comfortable. She has halfa powers and uses them as a hero named Herald. Like Marillyn, she can also switch between forms as a hero. Her core is one of ice. Fun fact: She has a secret girlfriend that no one knows about.

11) Sean Kyler Weston: (18 years old) Wes and Stephanie’s youngest son. He is a basketball player like his dad and has no powers. He wants to live a normal life, but like Abigail, is aware of their family’s identities and helps as an alibi. Fun fact: He used to want to be a hero, but after watching his family get hurt constantly, he decided to stay a civilian and help in other ways.

12) Kenneth “Kenny” Clark Drake-Kent: (17 years old) Tim, Kon, and Dani’s youngest son. He is extremely bold, cheerful, and adventurous. As a child of both a Kryptonian and a halfa, he is extremely powerful and has abilities of both races. As such, he is considered the next “Superman”. Even at 17, his powers are not far from rivaling Clark’s and Danny’s. Fun fact: He is out and very gay, with a boyfriend that he lets no one meet.

Notes:

+ Most of the OG Batfam and Phantoms are semi-retired. They still patrol and check on things, but since their kids reached the age of 21, they’ve been drastically lessening their heroics. Bruce is fully retired tho and mentors the kids.

+ There are 2 hero teams, one with the older kids (Jove, Marillyn, Elinor, and Seth) and the younger kids (Marianne, Alfonso, Melia, Daphne, and Kenneth). They split up for their hero teams out of Gotham, but when inside of Gotham City, these are the teams they usually regroup in.

+ The only ones with powers are Jove, Marillyn, Melia, Daphne, and Kenneth. The others have no powers, but are varying degrees of liminal.

+ Elinor is considered the de facto leader of the PhantomBat kids, with Marillyn as her right hand due to their efficiency and skill on the field.

+ If I had to powerscale the hero kids, it would look like: Kenneth >>> Jove > Daphne ≥ Melia > Marillyn > Marianne > Seth ≥ Elinor > Alfonso.

+ Melia and Daphne are named after water nymphs associated with Apollo, the god of prophecies, within Greek mythology. Melia means “ash tree” and Daphne means “laurel tree”. Both were consorts or desired lovers of Apollo.

+ Seth and Sean have middle names that are somewhat related to their uncles (Easton and Kyle).

+ I assume that in this AU, the Phantoms have cut off Maddie and Jack and don’t share their name anymore. As such, they either take the last name of their spouse or just use the last name Nightingale.

+ Any other notes on names can probably be found in the OG post that is linked above.

+ Bruce cried like a baby at every birth of his grandkids. He cried harder whenever they have names that relate back to him. At the rate that he kept crying at every birth, his kids just let him cry all over their newborns while the Phantoms were like ???? every single time. He is a grandfather of 12 and very, very proud of it.

+ Yes, it was also very weird when people were pregnant around the same time. There were months in between (ofc), but they definitely gave each other awkward laughs whenever they started showing. Danny and Jazz were especially baffled to be having twins one after another.

+ Dani had the most difficult birth because she couldn’t create her own DNA, so she had to drink blood (from Kon and Tim) and eat a lot in order to have a somewhat stable birth. There are lots of science shenanigans I kind of want to get into, but I think it’ll be awkward to talk about here, so maybe I’ll write about it one day. (I love science stuff and world building :3)

+ Damian and Duke are either married/dating their own partners, but Damian has no kids while I don’t really know Isabella that well?? But Duke and Izzie probably have 2 kids as well. Idk what to decide with Sam and Tucker, but they help Danny with his stuff and the kids.

The Acts of King Arthur and His Noble Knights by John Steinbeck

Gawain follows his beloved cousin Ewain into exile. He attempts to use his sun powers to cheat but fails & gets beat up. Then Gawain, Ewain, & Marhalt encounter a maiden, mother, & crone. Gawain takes the maiden for himself & she very quickly ditches him bc he sucks. From here he runs into Pelleas & from there woos Ettarde. Gawain isn't a good person but he's funny & compelling.

The Legend of King Arthur novelization by Andrew Davies

Amazing just like the show. Gawain doesn’t do much until the second half of the book where his involvement with Eleanor of Escalot starts. Extra introspection is always delicious. Full of awesome illustrations.

Gawain of all time I fear. His sun powers have been reversed so it's physically impossible for him to remain awake during the night. His brothers exploit this for pranks, but also strive to help him by strapping him to his horse before dawn so he can ride out with the army. He is childhood besties with Guinevere. Risa, Guinevere's handmaid, says Gawain is the best lover she's ever had. IKTR!! Gawain is the second born son of Morgan here, a bastard, as his elder brother Agravaine is the only wedlock son of Lot. They are Cornish instead of Orcadian, living in Morgan's childhood castle. He's very sweet & fun.

Exiled From Camelot by Cherith Baldry

Gawain is Kay's husband. There's no other way to say it. Gawain & Gareth are eternally loyal to Kay & Arthur both, but do their best to aid Kay as he struggles through the conflict of distrust, & eventual murder, of Arthur's son Loholt. Baldry's writing is always a treat.

In Camelot's Shadow by Sarah Zettel

The first of a series which begins with a romance between Gawain/Ragnelle combined with the story of the Green Knight. He kisses her when she has tusks what more can I say? There's an interesting family dynamic happening as well when she makes an allusion to becoming the sister of Gawain's brothers & Agravain gets upset by it, unbeknownst to her their father Lot threw their sister off a cliff (like the historical Teneu) so sisters are a sensitive subject. I think the family bonds are strongly present here which I always love in Gawain stories.

Gawain is so insanely perfect here. His love for Aislyn (Ragnelle) is so intense & his sense of honor is persistent. His relationship with his mother is compelling, his love for his brothers tender & complicated. He has an interesting rivalry with Lancelot & he’s besties with Dinadan? Good food.

Movies

Knights of the Round Table (1953)

Gawaine is a part of Lancelot’s retinue, along with his brother Gareth the bard. They continuously have silly banter & hijinx. Gawaine stays home with Elaine when Lancelot & Gareth go to war, helping her when her fainting sickness worsens. After Galahad is born, he joins his brother in delivering him to Arthur & Guinevere before he moves on to grandpa Ban.

Prince Valiant (1954)

Gawain is funny here. Valiant knocks him out, mistaking him for the Black Knight, so Gawain adopts him, brings him home to Arthur & takes Valiant’s training to heart. He calls him Val it’s so cute. Later he accidentally falls in love with Valiant’s girlfriend, Aleta, while Aleta’s sister, Ilene, is in love with Gawain. Goofy.

Sword of Lancelot (1963)

Gawain is introduced early in the film. He runs into the hall afraid that he saw Lancelot covered in stuff he thought he was sick but turns out it was bubbles from soap Merlin had given him. (So he was watching Lancelot bathe? Do with that what you will.) Gawain & Lancelot are besties right until Lancelot accidentally kills Gareth while fleeing the castle. He & Gawain have a heartbreaking conflict & most of the battle is cut but Gawain sliced Lancelot’s face, gets bled all over, & then Lancelot has that scar forever. I’m normal about it.

Perceval (1978)

A French adaptation of The Story of the Grail by Chrétien de Troyes set on a stage. Gauvain is so funny & sweet here. After Sagramor & Kay get beat up by Perceval, Gauvain retrieves him for Arthur/Guinevere through friendship & leads him to the king & queen by the hand. Later he chats up the Lady of Lys & when caught with her, uses the chessboard as a shield. It’s epic.

Morte d'Arthur (1984)

In this reading & reenactment of Le Morte d'Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory, Gawain fulfills his exact role as his medlit counterpart, vouching for Lancelot after he's caught in the bedchamber of the queen, & going mad following the deaths of his brothers. He reappears in a dream to Arthur surrounded by beautiful maidens. Classic.

Merlin and The Sword (1985)

Gawain is the fun-loving elder brother of Agravaine & Mordred. He's best friends with Lancelot & cordial with everyone at court from Guinevere to Kai to Ninian to Pellinore. Following Guinevere's kidnapping by a Pictish prince, Gawain & Lancelot enter the Hidden World to save her & part ways onto their own paths. After taking a boat to a mysterious island, Gawain is briefly held prisoner, before a pig-faced girl named Ragnelle agrees to aid his escape in exchange for her freedom, which he agrees to. Despite the concerns of his uncle Arthur & mockery of his brothers, Gawain asks for Ragnelle's hand in marriage.

Gawain and the Green Knight (1991)

The most faithful adaptation in English. It tells the story with a unique format of Gawain already set out in his journey to meet the Green Knight recounting the story in chunks while resting at inns. The costuming & sets are bright & colorful, Bertilak is jolly & full of life, Green Knight is camp but also has a fun detail that his voice is raspy after getting beheaded. They kept the script alliterative like the poem which was cool.

King Arthur (2004)

Gawain played by Joel Edgerton is so sexy here. The movie isn’t good but it’s fun. Did I mention Gawain was hot?

Sire Gauvain et le Chevalier Vert (2014)

Leave it to the French to make a super horny version of SGATGK. Beautiful short film with little guy Gawain making out with Lady Bertilak/Sir Bertilak. His pentacle heraldry is front & center here. Loved the Green Knight’s deep gravelly voice. Kinda sexy.

TV Shows

The Adventures of Sir Lancelot (1956-1957)

Gawain is introduced while mourning the death of his brother whom was killed in the battle that ended just before the start of the show. He has a fragment of a sword that was left in the wound, which he discovers, with Guinevere’s help, matches a chunk broken off Lancelot’s sword. Gawain challenges him to a duel to the death, but Lancelot spares him, & they reconcile. Later, Gawain is a friend to Lancelot, even lending him his sword.

BBC The Legend of King Arthur (1979)

Gawain is the eldest Orkney brother, son of Morgause/Lot, nephew of Arthur. He rules. He’s first introduced backing Gareth up when he wants to joust Bors for fun but Bors is like, “Begone fetus.” Gawain also vehemently discouraged Agravain from confronting Arthur about Lancelot & then let his lil bro fumble & refused to talk to Arthur just dipped out with Gareth. So funny. Big bro behavior. He also recognizes incognito Lancelot by the way he fights, goes on grail quest, & fails miserably. His fight with Lancelot over the death of Gareth is the most heartbreaking it’s ever been in my opinion. They fight until Gawain is falling over from exhaustion & just groaning about his revenge. Mordred’s betrayal is the final nail in the coffin & Gawain dies of heartbreak.

Merlin (1998)

Gawain is introduced alongside his father Lot when everyone comes to meet the “boy king” who just pulled the sword from the stone. Gawain supports Arthur, Lot doesn’t. Gawain joins Arthur in what is developing into a war against the rebelling kings, including Lot. Arthur ends up riding up alone & challenging Lot to a one on one, & gives him Excalibur to hold, which convinces Lot that Arthur is legit, so Gawain rides across the field to embrace his father (cries). Gawain loses in a joust to Lancelot which leaves Lancelot as Guinevere’s knight. Gawain leaves with Arthur to do battle, & they return to Camelot falling apart. Gawain & Lot advocate for Guinevere, whom Mordred says should be burned at the stake, but Lancelot has to rescue her. At the final battle, Lot is mortally wounded & Gawain holds him as he dies (cries harder).

Kaamelott (2004-2009)

Gauvain is a silly goose. I haven’t watched very much of this show but I love that he’s besties with Yvain.

Starz Camelot (2011)

One of the first Gawains I ever loved. He’s introduced in episode 3 as a warrior Leontes tries to enlist for Arthur with the help of Kay. He can’t read & is convinced to accompany them back to Camelot after Kay promises to teach him to read. He has two swords & he’s a really compelling character.

Rising Impact (2024)

A cheesy sports anime that stars Gawain. He falls in love with golf and moves to Tokyo to practice where he meets the local champion, Lancelot. They become friends & get scouted by Merlin to enroll at Arthur's Camelot Academy where they are trained to be professional golfers. At a competition with the British school, they golf against Tristan & Percival.

Sonic and The Black Knight

Gawain is "played" by the red echidna, Knuckles, and a boss fight encounter for Sonic. He dual wields two swords collectively called "Galatine."

Agravaine is super important here, Mordred’s confidant, his big bro who supports him whole heartedly. Agravaine’s wife Laurel is also important here, but from the ladies side. He has super hard hitting lines throughout & plays off Mordred’s philosophies really well.

Agravaine is among Guinevere’s knights! He’s one of many that attempted to defend her when Meleagant comes to kidnap her. He’s present throughout the books, popping in & out of stories & then a partial catalyst alongside his brother Mordred for the fall of Camelot.

Sir Agravaine by P. G. Wodehouse

Agravaine of all time. He’s short, he’s nervous, he’s average looking at best. A total sweetheart that volunteers his aid to a likewise average looking gal named Yvonne who comes to court seeking aid against a dragon. On the journey they fall in love & marry. Adorable illustrations throughout.

Modred, A Fragment by Edwin Arlington Robinson

A tiny story that essentially covers a single conversation between Modred, Agravaine, & Colgrevance. Agravaine seems more hesitant to utilize Colgrevance in their plans as he's an honorable knight worries the trap will backfire. I think it speaks to his character that he wants to see justice done but values the life of others.

The Queen's Knight by Marvin Borowsky

Agravaine is so insane here. There’s no heterosexual explanation for anything he does. He wants Lancelot so bad it makes him look stupid. From literally moment one he’s obsessed & enlists solely because Lancelot invites him personally. Agravaine's also skilled in dressage? What a guy. He’s mentioned by name in the newspaper article about the book published in 1955 which is so cool. My boy is famous! Content warning for Mordred pederasty.

The Legend of King Arthur novelization by Andrew Davies

A great book based on a great show! The author of the novel also wrote the show! Agravain gets extra depth here. His inner thoughts are really compelling, his aspirations to attain the level of recognition Lancelot takes for granted, his reluctance to kill people to reach his goals, & his remorse after he does anyway.

The Chessboard Queen by Sharan Newman

Guinevere Evermore by Sharan Newman

Agravaine is the eldest son of Morgan le Fay/Lot, older brother to Gawain, Gaheris, Gareth, & Mordred. He’s a well-meaning guy, if painfully awkward & a nervous wreck. He frequently calls family meetings with his younger brothers to discuss matters so they can stand as a united front. He helps Gawain manage his sun powers disability & remains fiercely loyal to Arthur, whom he consistently calls “uncle.” He’s also chill with Lancelot for a change. Once Agravaine realized Lancelot had been tricked/trapped by Elaine, he went to the tower they were in & brought Lancelot a horse to help him escape. Agravaine’s pro-adultery & made a pact with Gawain, Gaheris, & Gareth to protect Guinevere. After Morgan retires to live in the Lake Kingdom, he becomes king of Cornwall, where he eventually dies of old age.

The Book of Mordred by Peter Hanratty

Agravaine is a cousin of Mordred whom he meets at boarding school. After getting caught in bed with another boy, Agravaine was sent there to give his father time to smooth the scandal over. He mistakes Mordred's philosophical talk regarding otherness to mean he knows Agravaine's secret & he freaks him out as he desperately tries to remain closeted.

First Knight novelization by Elizabeth Chadwick

Hear me out. The 1995 movie is bad, but Chadwick’s book is pretty damn good. It obviously focuses mostly on Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot, but Agravaine’s semi-prominent role in the movie is expanded somewhat & we even get his pov! He’s honorable & interesting.

By Camelot's Blood by Sarah Zettel

Agravain is present in each book of the series, but this final installment is about his arranged marriage to Laurel. It's so delicious. Perfect characterization. He’s the type that’s actually extremely anxious all the time but it manifests to everyone else as cold & withdrawn. He doesn’t even know Laurel, they’re a “pair the spares” situation, but actually have a lot in common, particularly their devotion to their families & countries. Word comes that Lot is dying, he’s been mad for years after Morgause disappeared, so Laurel/Agravain head north to deal with that. Laurel has magic so she helps combat the supernatural forces at play. The couple fall in love during this whole time it’s very sweet I love them so much.

Movies

Knights of the Round Table (1953)

Agravaine first appears alongside Mordred & Morgan at the sword in the stone. He’s sent by Mordred to intervene as Arthur travels through the woods but runs into Lancelot/Elaine instead. After getting his ass kicked, he doesn’t do a lot aside from appear at Mordred’s side the whole movie. At the end he jumps Lancelot outside Guinevere’s chamber, gets his face burned off by a torch, then comes back for round two before Lancelot kills him which was pretty metal.

Morte d'Arthur (1984)

In this reading & reenactment of Le Morte d'Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory, Agravain fulfills his exact role as his medlit counterpart, scheming with Mordred & subsequently slain by Lancelot outside Guinevere's chamber door.

Merlin and The Sword (1985)

Agravaine gay as hell for Lancelot once again. Introduced by Merlin’s narration as a villain, Agravaine’s first order of business is to get drunk with Gawain then try to fight Lancelot for literally no reason. Agravaine tries to tackle Lancelot as he walks by but gets caught by Gawain, “Gently, gently, little brother!” After Guinevere’s kidnapped by Grak, Arthur leaves Agravaine behind to watch Camelot. Word comes of Arthur’s death, & Mordred crowns himself king, with Agravaine just hanging out vibing, though he’s aghast when Arthur turns up alive. Later he goes with Gawain to retrieve Lancelot/Guinevere from the Hidden World. At the end, he stations men outside the chamber to catch Lancelot/Guinevere, but when Mordred goes to “fetch” Arthur, he returns instead with Excalibur, having killed Arthur. Agravaine is horrified by the unjust death of his king, but succumbs to the sunk cost fallacy, proceeds with the plan, & dies in the battle.

TV Shows

The Legend of King Arthur (1979)

Agravain comes to court with Aunt Morgan & younger brother Mordred. He’s immediately on Lancelot/Guinevere’s case, openly rejecting Courtly Love (for heterosexual reasons). After spying on the couple, he talks to Gawain & Gareth about it, though they yell at him & desperately try to get him to understand it’s none of his business. After Mordred pretends he doesn’t know anything, Agravain goes to Arthur & explains his position, concerned over Arthur’s honor. He’s scolded & sent away like a wounded puppy as none of the others side with him. Later Morgan comes up with a plan to feed Guinevere “truth teller” peaches to make her confess. Guinevere gives her peach to Guido who eats it instead, & dies, leaving Guinevere accused of murder. Agravain is horrified & starts to panic, saying, “The Queen is guilty of much but she is innocent in this. If she is condemned, we are damned!” Studying him in a lab. These events morally degrades him. Later he’s eager to frame Guinevere as if she’s slept with Lancelot, which she hadn’t, then deliver her to the stake, where Lancelot kills him.

Later, after Guinevere is accused of murder, Mador de le Porte is going to fight Lancelot, Gareth takes a boat ride with Bors to talk with him about faith & whether or not Lancelot will win in defense of Guinevere as it's a righteous cause. Later, after Guinevere/Lancelot are caught together, Gareth goes with Agravain to the stake where she's to be burned. When Lancelot & Bors come to rescue her, he's trampled to death by mistake.

Mordred is uniquely grounded here with entirely valid concerns for the well-being & stability of the kingdom.

Content warning for pederasty as Mordred is portrayed as a repressed gay man who eventually sleeps with a youth before embracing his sexuality afterward, even developing a relationship with Colgrevance during his time undercover "defeated" at Camelot.

Idylls of the Queen by Phyllis Ann Karr

Mordred is Karr's babygirl & it shows. The book is first person Kay's perspective, but Mordred is his worstie & they go traveling together in pursuit of Lancelot so he can defend Guinevere from the murder accusation after Patrise is poisoned. Mordred plainly knows more about himself (ie, Arthur is his father) than he's letting on, & he's descending into a kind of madness about it, which Kay is perplexed by.

The Book of Mordred by Peter Hanratty

The Last Knight of Albion by Peter Hanratty

Mordred is introduced as a neglected child of Arthur living with his witch mother Morgause in the woods. Sensing apparent danger, she abruptly leaves him, but he's found by Palomides & brought to Arthur, not knowing his mother has been burned at the stake. After arriving at court, Mordred struggles to find his place, befriending a young Galahad, then his cousin Agravaine, but not quite fitting in anywhere. He's well-read & nurtures his own philosophies about the world. He develops an eating disorder among other self-destructive behaviors. He goes on Grail Quest with Lancelot & Galahad. He advocates for the well-fare of monsters they find along the way, defending them from Galahad who would see them all murdered. In book 2, it's post-Camlann, & the protagonist is young Percival. He travels around Britain encountering many people displaced by Mordred's war with Arthur as well as meeting Mordred himself. The third book in the series in German & I haven't scanned it yet so I don't know how the trilogy ends. :^(

A Camelot Triptych by Norris J. Lacy

Norris J. Lacy, beloved editor of the Vulgate, blesses us with his own retelling full of entirely good takes. He's a genius. The first part is told by Merlin, second part by Guinevere, & finally Mordred says his piece. It's a fascinating structure which allows for enough narrative openness to indicate the unreliable narrations of each protagonist. Mordred is painted in a starkly unflattering light before we hear his perspective. It's heartbreaking to see how the tragic events of his life shaped his belief. His rationale makes a surprising amount of sense. Despite the perception of his traitorous acts, he believes he's acting honorably by taking down the tyrant Arthur for the benefit of the country, going so far as to say it's not murder if he dies too. It's evident by the time the narrative reaches him, he's resigned to his fate, but considers it a worthy sacrifice.

Knights of the Round Table (1953)

Modred isn't Arthur's son but appears to be his nephew (Morgan, his mother (I think?) is the "step"-sister of Arthur). He's contesting Arthur for the right to rule, but fails to pull the sword from the stone. After Agravaine fails to assassinate Arthur thanks to an intervention by Lancelot, a war between the two factions breaks out, Modred, Morgan, Agravaine, & the other regional kings versus Arthur, Lancelot, Merlin, Gawain, Gareth, Percival, & the loyalists. After Modred loses, he, Morgan, & Agravaine join Arthur's court & lay low for many years, plotting. They repeatedly attempt to expose Guinevere/Lancelot's love, but fail until after Lancelot's wife Elaine passes away & he returns to court for good. That's when Agravaine exposes the affair & sets the battle of Camlann into motion. Modred doesn't die here, but mortally wounds Arthur. After Lancelot & Percival put Arthur to rest, Lancelot battles Modred to the death & kills him.

Sword of Lancelot (1963)

Mordred is introduced early as a knight of the Round Table & Arthur's bastard son. He has a tiny falcon Griselda he carries everywhere on his shoulder & talks to. (Agravaine got replaced ig.) Mordred has a romantic relationship with Vivian, a handmaiden of Guinevere's, whom he manipulates into spying for him. He's the butt of jokes from Dagonet for his obvious jealousy & desire to be recognized as Arthur's heir. After exposing Lancelot/Guinevere, he eggs Arthur on in the war against Lancelot. Ultimately, Lancelot & Lamorak are banished to Brittany, but Gawain comes to fetch them after Mordred killed Arthur. Lancelot returns to Britain to battle Mordred & kills him in a sword fight.

Camelot (1967)

Mordred is introduced late in the musical, but he's so cunty in his leather outfit. Tragically his song Seven Deadly Virtues is cut. He bamboozles Arthur & worms his way into the king's confidence, carefully approaching the subject of Guinevere/Lancelot. He eventually reveals the affair & brings in his brothers & friends to lend aid to his cause. The final battle at Camlann isn't shown.

Excalibur (1981)

Mordred is a product of Morgana transforming herself into Guinevere & becoming pregnant with him through Arthur. She raises him in isolation as the land around them withers & the remaining knights search for the Holy Grail. Young Mordred is played by director John Boorman's son. He wears golden armor which reminds me of Greek or Roman armor that has abs carved into it. His helmet has a face as well it's cool. He lures Percival to Morgana's lair where they attempt to trap & kill him, but he escapes. Much later, Mordred has reached adulthood & at last goes to Camelot to meet Arthur & challenge him. It's not until Arthur is restored by the Holy Grail that he's able to ride out, retrieve Excalibur from Guinevere, then go to battle with Mordred. Merlin's ghost shows up & tricks Morgana into using the last of her magic to cover the battlefield in fog & costs Mordred his advantage. He strangles her to death & then battles Arthur, but he's struck through the chest with a spear, hitting Arthur with his own sword before he dies. Iconic. Gorgeous film. 10/10.

Merlin and The Sword (1985)

Mordred is Arthur's bastard son by Morgause. He's pretty lame & whimpy, weak & cowardly. He tries to impress Arthur but fails continuously, even with auntie Morgan's attempts to help. He's besties with Agravaine. He helps facilitate Guinevere's kidnapping by Grak. In the extended cut he has a yucky incest relationship with Morgan that we're going to ignore. He's present at Gawain & Ragnelle's wedding then the next we see him, he's working with Agravaine to expose Guinevere/Lancelot together in the chamber. Mordred goes to Arthur to try & get him to see that Lancelot has betrayed him with the queen. Arthur refuses, but they have a brief heart-to-heart & embrace. Mordred stabs Arthur in the back & steals Excalibur. Agravaine is shook but they push onward. Everyone dies except Mordred who flees Lancelot & returns to Morgan. She summons a dragon but Lancelot defeats that too & Merlin helps by killing Morgan. When Mordred sees he's beat, he tries to surrender, but Lancelot kills him immediately it's kinda funny how anti-climactic it was. Not Mordred's most courageous portrayal, but I like the movie as a whole.

Camelot (1998)

Listen, trust me. I know it's ugly. But hey, written by Peter S. Beagle, okay? Mordred is the son of Morgause/Arthur, arriving at Camelot from the Isle of Avalon where he was raised. Arthur embraces him immediately. Things go awry quickly as Mordred notices the love between Guinevere/Lancelot. When he brings it up to Arthur, Mordred sees for the first time there are limits to Arthur's love. He decides he has to prove it to his father to get him to understand, & sets a trap to catch the couple together. It works, except he didn't account for pro-adultery Arthur, who actually knocks Mordred out himself to allow Guinevere/Lancelot an escape. Later as the factions divide up, Gawain on Arthur's side, Palomides on Lancelot's, etc, they try to reconcile on the field, when a fight breaks out & the battle commences. Arthur is mortally wounded in the fray, which stops the fight immediately. Guinevere, Lancelot, & Mordred run to Arthur & tearfully fuss over him. Vivian & Merlin appear to take Arthur away to Avalon, where his spirit reunites with Morgause.

Arthur & Merlin: Knights of Camelot (2020)

This story follows the plot of Alliterative Morte Arthure. Arthur has seemingly abandoned Camelot in the interest of conquest of Rome. Modred, his bastard son, remained behind & has usurped the throne. He's destroyed the Round Table in favor of a rectangle one with himself at the head. Arthur's loyalists, Agravain, Bedivere, Lucan, & Guinevere try to resist him, but when Modred's magic lady Antigone kills Agravain, they know it's useless. Bedivere & Lucan depart to retrieve Arthur which leaves Guinevere at court to continue resisting Modred's attempts to rule & increasingly forward advances. Guinevere resists him she's the best it's lowkey funny he acts all tough but he's clearly intimidated by her, as she says herself, she's known him since he was a child & refuses to fear him. But eventually he bribes a priest to marry them & they're kneeling at the altar when Lucan shoots & kills the priest (lol) as Arthur's men descend into the hall & kill all of Mordred's men. Eventually Mordred's forces are overpowered & he surrenders at Arthur's feet. Arthur refuses to kill his son & banishes him instead.

TV Shows

The Adventures of Sir Galahad (1949)

Mordred is introduced alongside Bors as the favorites to win the joust, but they're both defeated by a Fair Unknown who reveals himself to be Galahad. Mordred appears in every episode as both Arthur's advisor as well as the antagonist trying to undermine Galahad's rise to knighthood. He's so funny to me, the way he wrestles Galahad to the pull the sword from the stone, tries to torture him, his cunty fits. Love it.

The Legend of King Arthur (1979)

Mordred is the youngest son of Morgause/Lot. He comes to court with his aunt Morgan & brother Agravain, immediately gossiping about all the court's goings on. He nudges Agravain into his obsession with Lancelot/Guinevere, strategically abandoning the cause when they fly too close to the sun & rouse Arthur's ire. He's clever & obedient to his aunt Morgan. He's a smooth talker who hypes his brothers & sucks up to Guinevere/Arthur, fully convincing them he's a good & honest knight. After Arthur & Gawain head to Gaunes to challenge Lancelot, Mordred usurps the throne & allies with the Saxons, against Morgan's wishes. When Guinevere returns to court, she plots with Bedivere & Griflet to warn Arthur, who returns to fight Mordred. Mordred feigns surrender before stabbing Arthur, receiving a mortal sword blow in return.

Merlin (1998)

Mordred is the son of Morgan le Fay/Arthur. He's raised at Tintagel with his mother & some fay people. He grows to manhood faster than normal & shows up at court as Arthur returns war. Mordred fans the flames of animosity between Guinevere/Arthur by exposing the affair & turning the crowd against her. But she's rescued from the stake by Lancelot. Mordred ultimately goes to battle with Arthur. He's nearly defeated when he stabs Arthur & receives his death wound. So sassy. So sexy. Cunty. Fierce. Not here for a long time but here for a good time.

so. i need help making rent. i am working, but i'm disabled & the only person in the household making money. last yr was constant trauma for me & it's coming up on the yr anniversary of my baby brother's death. between flashbacks & pain flares, i don't know how else to make it thru the coming month.

work has been hard, flashbacks are constant, & i need to take time off a few times a wk to visit my mom to make sure she's taking care of herself. currently i have less than $500. i need 1100 for rent. utilities is 260. i've been putting off buying meds i need to try to save money.

i have art comms open, but they're not enough. i physically cannot work enough hrs to pay all of this alone, & my partner has been job searching for months with no luck. no jobs want to accommodate her disability, & most wfh positions are either in too high of demand or just. not real listings.

since i keep asking for help, i want to let folks know what happened last yr for those who weren't around. long story short, my youngest brother died last may, & it sent me into a spiral of being incapable of taking care of myself for months. i still have mult sobbing breakdowns every day.

i lost my grandfather the next month, my childhood best friend/cousin a couple of months later, & my aunt was put into hospice & expected to pass during all of this. her dx is terminal & it's miraculous she's still here at all.

in dec my partner of 2 decades was hospitalized & put in the icu on a ventilator after a severe, life-threatening asthma attack. it necessitated us moving into a new home bc the old one was full of mold. the rent here is nearly 400 dollars higher per month than at the old place, but it was the only one available on short notice.

Absolute Batmans little robins.

So, Absolute batman is around 20 in my understanding, and there is no Batman without a Robin.

Keep in mind that I have only read one of the absolute batman comics bc I am rather busy.

So here is what I am thinking about: how he met the kids. (Martha adopted them bc he wanted nothing to do with a couple of kids.) Well, at least Dick Jason and Tim.

Dick - Went to the circus performance, saw the death and tried to console the kid who clung to him and refused to let goy so Martha was like, yes, adopting this small traumatized child is a great idea. Dick is delighted to have a big brother. Dick went out as Robin to track down the person who murdered his parents. There was no murderer. It was a genuine accident, but dick pushes Zucko off a bridge, and Batman caught him at the last minute. Bruce realises the kid is an absolute (ha, pun) menace and gets forced into mentoring him when he realizes who the menace is. I imagine he's around 14.

Jay- Jason stole the batcape off of Batman. Originally, Bruce was impressed and also super baffled. Robin looked at Jason in a dead end, clutching the cape and pointing a rather sharp knife at them, that Martha would love the kid, and offered him food. Batman did not approve of any of this, but he couldn't really do anything. Jason is a sweetheart and wants nothing to do with Robin or vigilantism. He cries when Martha enrols him in school, and he helps around the house. He meets alfred at the library and immediately makes the man like him, so now the two have a little book hour every weekend, with tea. Jason helps out a lot around crime alley. He volunteers and all that and meets a rich kid at a food shelter. I think he would be 12.

Tim - Compromising pictures appear about the Joker in the media. And then Martha finds an envelope for Bruce in the mail. She gives it to him. It has pictures, a lot of them, about both Batman and Robin, and Bruce and his brothers. And also, about Martha. It's clear they have a stalker, and Bruce tells his brothers to be careful and more vigilant. Meanwhile, Jack and Janet Drake get arrested or something, and their kid appears on Martha's doorstep a month later, claiming that he has to talk to Bruce. "I need you to pretend to be my family from my mothers side." He says. Yes Tim is fucking unhinged. Yes he blackmails Bruce and the only reason he gets away with it is bc Martha is in the kitchen. He lies to Martha that her mother was the cousin of his grandmother and therefore the waynes are the only living relatives he has. He has paperwork, and terrifies Bruce a little. Jason absolutely loves the kid and finds Tim super cool. Dick thinks Tim is like an amusing little dog.

Alfred finds an envelope in his living room, threatening to leave the Bat alone with pictures from as early as a day ago. It makes him curious and a bit amazed. The threat doesnt work ofc.

Codywan Dad!Obi Tatooine Fam Clone Rebellion/Death Star Come Early Au

The Death Star finishes like 10 years early. Mainly bc I watched the Obi-Wan show & wanted Uncle!Obi raising bb!Leia

Bail is in Leia's role in ANH, only he is executed after being forced to watch Alderaan destroyed. Leia stowed away on his ship & was also captured but is held prisoner after witnessing this

Obi-Wan manages to break into the Death Star & rescue her, in this 'verse making it out alive with her. Owen & Beru *also* survive, & he has them flee Tatooine with Luke, and takes Leia to meet up with them on—idk??? Somewhere. Just a rando stopping point, bc they lowkey become like space pirates for a while

Ok not really *pirates* but maybe more like Robin Hood? Or travellers who do odd jobs, or... idk

Basically the idea is they're gonna be living on a spaceship for the next year so however that comes about 👍

We get some tension btwn Owen & Obi-Wan. Like, reluctant brother bonding. They shared a brother—Owen never knew Anakin, but he knew Shmi, and she spoke about him so much Owen grew fond of him as well. As far as he knows, the Jedi, of which Obi-Wan is the face, are responsible for spiriting away a young boy with promises of escape from harsh circumstances and instead exploited him & got him killed.

This is not a Jedi hate fic, but Owen is biased against them. He's also very much got judgmental quiet middle child vibes.

It's also gonna play into how Obi-Wan feels about his Jedi culture. He's got a lot going on with every thing that's happened, and denial/shoving it down can only last so long.

Beru is a bamf, obviously. She also has a more nuanced view on Obi-Wan—or rather, she doesn't let hurt and resentment cloud her view on him, bc Owen *does* understand more of the nuanced view, he just denies it to himself bc he's hurt & worried for his family.

Beru draws Obi-Wan subtly more into the family dynamic, basically like oh I see him brooding on the edges probably thinks he can slip away on us again haha right "oh hey I *really* need you to help make the [Star Wars varient of mashed potatoes] 🥰"

Beautiful manipulative bamf. Honestly, she's the one carrying the braincells—Obi-Wan is reeling from the trauma of opening himself to the Force for the first time in a decade only to be hit with the screaming slaughter of Alderaan (another genocide from Anakin's hands), Owen is being a grumpy (stressed) fuss over the babies. She's got the coolest head on her shoulders.

Beru immediately adopts Leia as well. Owen is a little wary but also that is a Baby she has Trauma he is grabbing the biggest fluffiest blanket for her already

Luke & Leia are in a weird position of being like cousins but also siblings, bc of the whole being raised apart thing & Leia kind of trauma bonded to Obi-Wan as her parental figure after everything, but they click immediately.

Luke thought of Obi-Wan as "that weird hermit Uncle Owen doesn't really like" and now is lowkey picking up on the Lore

Esp since the twins are terrible about eavesdropping on Serious Adult Conversations. Obi-Wan catches Owen & Beru up on what happened & they decide to avoid settling anywhere for a bit but instead hop around space in the Outer Rim to avoid detection

Obi-Wan intends to slip away actually & try to somehow destroy the Death Star (oh god just give Leia ALL the attachment issues), but at the first port they hit they're met with absolute shock—

The Emperor and Vader have been assassinated. The Clone troopers have taken charge of the galaxy.

Rodger and Teagan are Toodles' parents. However, she's adopted, which is why she often refers to them by name. (teacase aaaaaahhh)

Sprout is chubby bc yes.

Finn has a really low pain tolerance. He would cry over stubbing his toe.

Shrimpo is secretly extremely protective over Toodles. If anyone harmed her, he'd kick their ass.

Glisten is a gay uncle figure to Toodles. So is Boxten. (jewelrybox go wee)

Sprout and Cosmo have a crush on each other, and while they never made it official, they act like a couple. (fruitcake go brrr)

While Cosmo is really good at baking, he CANNOT cook actual food for the life of him. Give him a microwave pizza and he'll find a way to set it on fire. He always has to ask either Ginger or Sprout to cook for him, or he just gets take-out. How many wrong ways can you use a microwave? Cosmo's done them all.

Boxten struggles with social interactions. He never talks to anyone he doesn't know unless he absolutely has to.

Boxten has glasses. Even though he's supposed to wear them all the time, he usually only wears them when he has to read something because he thinks they make him look like a geek. (insecurity alert)

Dazzle is slightly shorter than Razzle, so the two of them walk a bit funny, but it doesn't cause them pain and that's all that matters.

Despite not being in Brightney's book club, Razzle does enjoy reading, but he's not the biggest fan of Dazzle's reading tastes, so it usually puts him to sleep.

Gigi teases Cosmo and Ginger by saying they're dating. (They're not though, this isn't- well, I am in Alabama, but you know what I mean!)

when she learns the wand was forcibly taken from him she doesnt give it to him, since its a political thing he Can't™️ have the wand, but she teaches him how to use their powers and 'lets' him read from the spellbook. he writes his own journal/spellbook and they collaborate in the future when they get along.

Tango is the crown prince Lucitor with his younger triplet brothers Skizzle and Impulse. Tango is the fraternal sibling out, looking more like a Mewman than a Lucian but still can self-ignite and heat does no damage. His mother Queen Tempra secretly wants/plans his downfall bc she thinks it would look bad for the Crown King of the Lucitors to look like a mewman cosplying a Lucian.

Jimmy Richpidgeon is the Crown Prince of the Pidgeonlegs, looking exactly like mewman with pigeon legs, wings, and voice. Cousins to the Butterfly's, Cloud was married to a cousin of the Pidgeonlegs, Waffle Armistice, who was the younger adopted sibling to Dust Pidgeonlegs who went on to marry Cyntthia Pidgeonlegs, who gave birth to Jimmy Pidgeonlegs. he also picks on Grian for being passed over on the wand and reign and the Pidgeonlegs are a monarchy not a matriarchy and he gets to rule someday.

I never decided on a name but the idea was that when Brandon got killed and Ned had to go riding off to help his boyfriend fight the war, everyone decided that Benjen should get married bc no one knew if Ned was gonna live or not.

HOWEVER 👆 before they could get him married to a Karstark or Umber or something he had a fling with like a Flint girl or someone else from a relatively minor northern house. So he pulls a Robb before Robb and everyone’s like 🫥 okay whatever she isn’t our first choice but fuck it you’re the backup just get married to her.

And benjens like waitttt I really wanted to go to the wall to freeze my balls off with a bunch of other men :(((( but does his Stark Duty and marries the girl and the rest of the war goes on and baby is born. However a few weeks later the mother dies of post partum complications and Benjens like I would’ve made a bad father anyways and fucks off to the wall

Ned’s like sorry ab that I can take the baby I already have one adopted child. And the family is like ur bum brother got our daughter pregnant then left the baby here when she died the least you could do is let us keep her. And Ned says Yeah no argument there

And so the girl is raised mostly by her mother’s family but is still allowed to go to Winterfell relatively frequently to establish cousin-ly bonds and what not. And even as a treat every now and then she’s allowed to visit the wall to see her dad

I imagine she’s kind of sickly and awkward and kind of annoying but also really friendly. Overly eager to please and make friends (trying to make up from her lack of parental love yk how it is). She’s not a stubborn hardhead in the traditional northern way but in a “if I keep being nice to this person they’ll like me eventually” way like she absolutely refuses to give up on any task she puts her mind to. She’s so pathetic I care for her.

Also Sansa thinks she’s annoying and Arya thinks she’s weak and annoying. The only family members who actually like her are Bran and Rickon she is soooo friendless

Finally, the fic is out, A Monsters' Ball the pro-exy team MSBY Black Jackals (ft Andreil and some rabbits). Details like team line up and positions, alt jerseys, layers and some backstories beneath the cut.

So, our team line up and some details (and yes, I do have a colour coded spreadsheet to keep track of all this, which Neil and Sakusa constantly mess up by being the wrong year for their age bc they're babies, but ages are rough because no everyone has a declared birthday/age) with some art breaks between:

#4 Captain Meian Shuugo - 29, backliner, 5yrs MSBY, 5yrs college, from one of the country's best high school teams, 1 season as captain, trying really hard to be mature and not find everyone's antics funny, eternal rival to Hirugami Fukurou, captain of the champions, the Alders.

#20 V.Captain Hirugami Shouko - 26, backliner, 2yrs MSBY, 5yrs college, from another top high school, middle child of 2 pro-exy players (two of the earliest adopters before it got big, probably ppl who went to uni with Tetsuji and Kayleigh), younger sister of Alders captain Fukurou, joined the Jackals out of desire to say fuck you to her older brother.

#2 Amani Kanoka - 23, striker, rookie MSBY, 5yrs college, from a private all girls high school that became the best in the country, known as the Queens of Exy, very shy, has a lot of confidence issues, that she handles by being the best on court.

#5 Nathaniel Wesninski - 24, striker, MSBY rookie, 1yr Baltimore Wildcats, 4.5 yrs EAU Ravens, 0.5yrs PSU Foxes, joined the Foxes after only a year playing in a nowhere team but was quickly poached by the Ravens at Christmas that year and was a regular member the team the next year under his real name, very flighty, big fan of secrets, no idea how to handle the Jackals' chaos (they're like the Foxes but without the trauma).

#12 Bokuto Koutarou - 24, striker, 1yr MSBY, 5yrs college, one of the top 5 strikers in Japan in high school, another top high school team, ultimate himbo, might have committed tax fraud, has a word of the day calendar he's trying really hard to use properly, known for super sharp angle shots and for just bodying people and the ball.

#15 Sakusa Kiyoomi - 22, striker, rookie MSBY, 5yrs college, championship highschool team several yrs running, one of the top 3 strikers in Japan in high school, collegiate MVP, Team Japan 2016 squad, Team Japan U19 rep, grumpy baby, very into properly folded handkerchiefs, do not touch, preferably do not interact outside of court, speak to him via his adorable cousin or not at all unless saving him from bugs.

Halfway through the team stats, time for some art. The Away Colours! Maybe the racquets change to white too, idk I couldn't be bothered to recolour them though.

Ok, back to the second half of the team:

#3 Andrew Minyard - 25, goalkeeper, 2yrs MSBY, 3yrs USC Trojans, 2yrs PSU Foxes, best goalkeeper and rookie awards during his rookie season, didn't really tell anyone his plans after university just kind of vanished, only told a handful of people he'd signed for a team, Neil thought he was dead, he has a motorcycle now because city traffic is awful on his sports cars and the stadium is walking distance, sometimes plays defensive dealer.

#6 Inunaki Shion - 26, goalkeeper, 4yrs MSBY, 3yrs college (dropped out to go pro), middling high school only competed nationally once, the vodka aunt of the team, here to get people drunk, instigate drama with the monsters and then sit back and laugh, actually very soft on the youngsters, tolerates stupid nicknames like Inu-san and Wan-san (never get tired of that being translated Mr Dog and Mr Woof).

#9 Adriah Tomas - 27, backliner, 1yr MSBY, a transfer from European leagues, surprisingly fast for his size, just happy to be here, comes across as a bit of an airhead, but is usually right next to Inunaki instigating chaos and then pretending he doesn't understand the language enough to know what happened.

#10 Oliver Barnes - 30, backliner, 2yr MSBY, Team USA 2016/2012 Olympic squads, transfer from America, big friendly softie, dad of the team, actual dad of a 5yo girl, starting to consider retirement into coaching so is happy to spend the end of his elite career with these idiots.

#13 Miya Atsumu - 23, offensive dealer, 5yrs MSBY, Team Japan 2016 Olypmic squad, Team Japan U19 rep, from a top high school, considered the best dealer in Japan in high school, signed straight from high school, a particularly offensive dealer, easily doubles as striker, all rounder (all Jackals are all rounders but the dealers in particular), demanding and thoughtless jerk but not trying to be nasty, can come across as arrogant but is the first to accept his own mistakes.

#21 Hinata Shouyou - 22, defensive dealer, MSBY rookie, 2yrs playing street exy in Brazil, middling high school team on the rise, player backliner in high school despite wanting to be a striker, but learned to play all positions in Brazil, sometimes move position based on what team they're facing, general ray of sunshine, obsessed with exy, does meditation and yoga in the sunrise preferably on a beach.

Ok, team done, have some more art because yes, I did layer these team pics up slowly from the base dri-fit layers to the armour/padding to the jerseys.

The Jackals provide uniform everything from base layers to padding to anything like compression sleeves, knee/arm pads and everything else. Armour is provided by them to ensure it's up to regulation and team standards, the Jackals require some kind of shoulder padding (most of the team has detachable shoulder pads, while Bokuto and Sakusa who prefer more shoulder rotation and just more coverage respectively, where seperate bicep/shoulder pads). I've talked more about armour on older wip posts, but they're based on lacrosse chest pads. Brief version: strikers were shorter, around the vitals, backliners generally are longer on the sides to protect the ribs, goalies have more coverage because duh, and dealers wear whatever they like. Every single one has either hollow rigid or extra padded piece over the centre of the chest because, especially in younger players, a ball to the chest can stop your heart.
