g’day !

i’ve seen many studyblr app recommendation masterposts through the years but in the end, i always ended up deleting most of them. so, here is a selected list of the most useful and handy apps/websites for students i’ve been actually using for a while! (all in my humble opinion ofc)

here are apps I actually use for studying !

— scribbr (apa citations). MAN. automatic apa generator for free. you’re welcome.

— notion. the best online writing tool i’ve come across. to-do lists, timelines, code, embeds, block equations, automatic table of contents… you name it. anything you ask for, they’ve got it.

— notebloc. photo/text scanner. this came in really handy during quarantine, but i’ve gotten used to scanning many of my notes/drawings to have them on my phone for whenever i might need them.

— class central. online college courses. some are free, some are not, but if you need more detailed info on a subject bc your professor sucks this is your place.

— quizlet. you probably already know what quizlet is if you’re on studyblr. if not, let me tell you: it is h e a v e n. life savior if you have to review and don’t feel like getting up from bed.

all of these are free ! most are illegal, but that’s fine because in this account we believe in copyright abolition supremacy.

— library genesis. the good old libgen. free research papers and works.

— sci-hub. the long lost sister to the pirate bay, which was taken down (rest in peace). more of the above.

— scribdful. remember scribbr from the generic study apps? well, it isn’t for free. but i got you. here’s how to access those scribbr documents.

— internet archive. digital library, old versions of any websites [wayback machine]… it is basically the internet’s storeroom.

— worldcat. another online finder of books, films, papers, music…

— academia.edu. careful with giving them your personal e-mail bc they are the most annoying site i’ve come across when it comes to spam. for these cases: yopmail.com [temporary email generator]

— sparknotes. a life savour ! online notes on specific literary works. some are free, others require a yearly subscription for only $4.99. i’d say it’s worth it.

— google scholar. you know this one, right? no? it’s basically a filter for google searches so you only get academic results.

— wikileaks + similar alternatives: cryptome, globaleaks, ajtransparency. you know, all the leaked, classified info, pics and vids about corruption, crimes against humanity, war crimes… they make a really good bibliography, as if you were an infiltrated interpol spy. all completely safe (tho you need tor bowser for some of them bc of the possible blocked and censored sites and links)

— e-flux. just a personal recommendation. a great magazine with academic essays on social topics and art. contemporary artists are invited to write about specific topics.

— also, make sure to check your national libraries; many of them keep their catalogues public and online ! here’s an example from the new york public library.

general day to day apps / sites that come in handy more than once or twice.

— google calc. wait. this isn’t in the generic section bc i use this for tracking my monthly expenses. i’m a student which also means i’m poor. here’s a copy of the quadrant i use hehe. money money money – abba (lyrics)

— flo. basically for tracking your period. they have a premium version but i’ve never needed it. i’m just very disorganized so i need an app to remind me of when my period is coming.

— yuka. food scanner to check if the brand is healthy/over processed!!! damn this is such a good way to control what you eat and have an idea of what’s behind each product.

— eat this much. bro. free automatic meal plan generator based off the daily kilocalories you want to eat. IT EMAILS YOU A GROCERY SHOPPING LIST EVERY WEEK. whoever made this is definitely going to heaven. app and website.

— workaway / wwoof / aupairworld. these are quite famous. they’re here bc they might come in handy if you’re taking a gap year like i am, in case you want to travel for free and fully invest on the local culture. i’m going to france this december help!! [they all have relatively expensive yearly subscriptions if you’re poor like me]

— skyscanner. cheap flights finder in case you’re planning to take a trip anytime soon.

— polarr. photo editor with free online filters from other creators. more people who are going to heaven.

— zombies, run ! if you get bored while you’re going on runs like me and you need something to really boost your dopamine levels, here is a zombie apocalypse simulator to play on your headphones. really gives you that main character about to murdered in the eighth season of a bad apocalyptic fox tv show vibe.

i see you’re struggling to find some memorable good films to watch. let me give you a hand.

— mubi / filmin catalogues. these are not for free. i only have mubi, but filmin is also great. still, if you’re looking for film recommendations, you can access their catalogues online and from their respective apps.

— dbox.to. we love illegal sites. this is the best one i’ve found so far for watching films and shows.

— letterboxd. you have to know this one. no? it’s where all the film twitter memes come from, like that one chick ashley that said: troy (2004) - i can excuse historical inaccuracies but i draw the line at achilles being straight.

— imsdb. like imdb but with an uglier design. just movie scripts everywhere, in case you need to check, quote,… whatever.

— playphrase.me. dear santa, i want playphrase.me to be nationalized for christmas. you need to become a sponsor of the project if you want to use it without restrictions: script searcher for thousands of films! maybe consider checking them up?

now it’s the turn for langblr, though y’all probably already know about these. still:

— goodreads. letterboxd but for girls and gay people. book tracker.

— wordreference. translator with many options. i use this one for checking specific words’ meanings.

— linguee / deepl. these two are from the same developer. linguee i use for expressions/sentences and deepl when i don’t feel like translating that entire german exercise on goethe’s faust.

— reverso. another translator, kinda similar to linguee in case you’re not completely certain about what something means.

— urban dictionary. if you aren’t a native english speaker or if you’re too awkward to ask the meaning of the expression that your overly social friend has just said and everyone laughed to but you: urban dictionary is your friendly dictionary for colloquialisms and internet slang.

— chrome extension: language tool. forget about that stupid grammarly; steve jobs had us long before we knew. online grammar checker for many languages. make sure to click the perfectionist mode for more accurate help!

if you like studying listening to something on the background:

— nobody [youtube]. if you want to feel like you’re living in a dark academia film these are the soundtracks you were looking for.

— asmr rooms / asmr weekly [youtube]. if you like ambience sounds playing on the back these are my two favourites.

— simarchitecture [youtube]. i plead guilty to the jury. no, but seriously. if you like having someone in the back talking, simarchitecture has the most chill channel in history. and crazy real-life buildings built on the sims.

these i find interesting about a wide range of cultural & social topics. all of them on spotify !

— the magnus archives. mystery & spooky scary stuff.

— last podcast on the left. cool cinema reviews.

— sip & slay. true crime with two hosts with alcoholic tendencies.

— review from the terrace. chill film reviews.

— camping gathering. cute friendly talk about the host’s ongoing daily life.

— you’re dead to me. fun history from the bbc.

— the 2 lads podcast. remember isaac that cute guy from teen wolf? well his name is daniel sharman and he has a v interesting podcast where he talks about love, sex, drugs, mental health…

— radio garden. not a podcast but an app! if you’re an average radio enjoyer like me this has been my latest obsession. if you’re not a regular radio enjoyer, then you should be. radio stations from all over the world in case you’re looking for new music, trying to learn a language, in need of listening to kazakh talk shows… (you sometimes come across private radios like international airports or county sheriff offices but shhhh)

and, finally, here are yt channels that could come in handy for making up your mind on a specific topic, or even for research purposes. most are about cinema but ok.

cinema related:

— art regard

— every frame a painting

— the narrative art (historic video records from films/directors)

— we need to talk about film

politics:

— vice

specific random subjects:

— wired (ignore the fucking wired autocomplete blahblah and you’ll get what you’re looking for)

— also check universities’ yt channels: you’ll find many many uploaded courses for free ! here’s the mit’s, for example.

Seller Information on Etsy’s Canadian Tax Plans

As some of you now know, Etsy will be forcing Canadian sellers registered to collect GST and HST to roll that tax into their prices as of July 1 2022, instead of calculating it accurately and automatically at checkout. This post is designed to help sellers strategize their approach to this ridiculous change.

UPDATE: (August 30, 2022) Etsy has begun charging some sellers GST and HST on the their seller fees, and is doing it retroactive to July 1. I will update this post when I know more; I haven’t even been charged yet. (September 11, 2022): here is my post on GST on fees; not everything is clear yet.

UPDATE (July 17 2022): For Non-Canadian Sellers and Canadian Buyers

If a customer in Saskatchewan or Manitoba orders a physical item from a non-Canadian seller, Etsy is supposed to charge them provincial sales taxes on their order.

However, Etsy is also charging provincial taxes on sales to British Columbia from outside of Canada, and the BC government confirms that is not allowed. Buyers are supposed to request a refund from Etsy, but as you can see from that link, Etsy isn't moving quickly on this. [UPDATE (August 7): It appears Etsy has fixed this on at least some BC orders from outside the country, but there are still lots of bugs, so keep an eye open for it.]

For those of you who have been overcharged and have applied to Etsy for a refund, please let me know how long it takes.

Things GST-Registered Sellers Should Know

It’s legal to include GST and HST in the item price; see here: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/gst-hst-businesses/charge-collect-receipts-invoices.html “...you have to either show the amount paid or payable for the supply separately from the amount of GST/HST payable on the supply or show that the total amount paid or payable for a supply includes the GST/HST.“ As you know, that isn’t very common with products that are purchased online, though; it’s usually seen when buying a drink in the stands at a hockey game. One location makes it easy; different tax rates make it impossible to do accurately.

CRA reps have told people they can’t remove their tax registration numbers on Etsy: https://community.etsy.com/t5/All-Things-Finance/Changes-to-Canadian-GST-collection-remittance/m-p/138775766/highlight/true#M274389 so I strongly recommend talking to an agent or your accountant if you are considering this action. You don’t have to register for GST/HST unless you are legally required to, or think it might be beneficial to you. Etsy is pushing sellers to register because it saves Etsy some work and makes them more in fees, but no one is required to register until they meet the requirements laid out here: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/gst-hst-businesses/when-register-charge.html Please consult with an accountant, the Canada Revenue Agency, or another expert in this area if you aren’t sure what you should do, but don’t take advice from Etsy on this question.

It is against Etsy rules to tell anyone who contacts you on Etsy to buy the items elsewhere; that includes cancelling the order and sending them an email to your website etc. https://www.etsy.com/legal/fees/#avoidance

Options for GST-Registered Sellers

There aren’t a lot of great ones, since we can’t opt not to ship to Canada. We can:

Comply with Etsy’s suggestions to add the tax to our prices. You can edit each listing individually to change the price in Canada only: https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403156582039-How-to-Add-Domestic-Global-Pricing-to-Your-Listings?segment=selling or use other tools to raise your prices everywhere. Note that digital items can’t use the domestic pricing tool, as it was originally designed to accommodate free shipping. [UPDATE (July 10): The tool is also not available for listing with more than 400 variations.] Remember that GST & HST apply to the shipping cost as well. If you are going to increase your listing prices by the largest amount (15%) and then refund buyers in GST-only provinces, remember that Etsy is collecting fees on the total item price, so you would have to raise all of your prices around 16.5% to come out even. Close our Etsy shops.

Raise our Canadian shipping fees so high that no Canadian will buy from us. This is what I am planning on doing for the moment. I will mention in my policies that I am unable to fulfill orders to Canada on Etsy at this time. I will then email my Canadian newsletter subscribers and let them know that my website is their only option right now, and that prices are cheaper than my Etsy shop anyway. [UPDATE (July 10): While Etsy’s legal policies state sellers must “Charge an appropriate amount for shipping”, Etsy is itself breaking the law in multiple ways while applying the new tax changes (see below). I argue it is completely appropriate to want to make sure our customers are not overcharged tax and otherwise inconvenienced by Etsy’s illegal activities, and since Etsy doesn’t provide us any other way to stop selling to Canada, we are forced to raise shipping prices to honour Canadian law.]

If you buy business supplies from Canadian Etsy sellers, try to find their other sites (which will likely give you a proper tax receipt).

[UPDATE: (July 17) One enterprising seller has submitted an Agent and Principal form to Etsy: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/forms-publications/forms/gst506.html which if completed, allows Etsy to charge and remit GST/HST on the seller’s behalf. This is the same method eBay and Poshmark are using to comply with the new laws. While Etsy will probably reject the request, it is worth trying. Let me know if this works for you! (August 7): It didn’t work out for me]

And of course, complain to Etsy about this, and spread the word everywhere!

UPDATE: (June 29, 2022) Tracey from MyCorabella has written a great letter to her MP, and has agreed to share it for copying/editing, if you are planning on sending your own and need a good template. Here it is:

For years, Canadian GST registered small businesses selling via the Etsy platform have been using a tax calculation tool provided on Etsy to charge the appropriate GST/HST by province/territory, and directly remitting taxes to CRA. In response to Canada’s changes to GST/HST legislation regarding collection from online transactions, as of July 1 Etsy is removing the tax tool and forcing Canadian GST registered sellers to instead include taxes in their pricing. This disadvantages Canadian small businesses, it creates confusion for customers as to what taxes they are paying, and Etsy will financially benefit by being able to charge Canadian small businesses additional fees.

The massive confusion Etsy is creating will no doubt lead to many Canadian small business owners inadvertently making errors in sales tax collection/remittance. It will also cost us time & resources in added paperwork and fees as we shoulder the burden of Etsy’s laziness in their poorly executed implementation of this new tax law. However, Etsy will clearly benefit financially by shoving workload down the food chain and collecting extra fees.

This is a far cry from the intention stated in the budget “Applying the tax to the consumption of most goods and services helps ensure that the GST/HST system is fair, efficient and simple”, and does not align with the intention ”To improve the collection of the GST/HST and level the playing field between resident and non-resident vendors.”

The demographic of Canadian sellers on Etsy includes a significant cohort of disadvantaged and lower income people, most of which make less than the poverty line. They should not have to shoulder this added burden while paying more fees to Etsy for less services.

Other e-commerce platforms (eBay, Amazon, Airbnb, Poshmark) have each figured out viable solutions. Etsy is treating the implementation of the new tax law as an opportunity to increase their sales (since they are asking us to include taxes in our prices), charge more fees, and push the true cost of implementation squarely on Canadian small businesses.

Ultimately, this issue will cost all Canadians as CRA and small businesses become buried in the minutia of tiny amounts of potentially overcharged or undercharged sales tax. The solution is clearly to force the large companies operating these platforms to follow the intention of the law which was to simplify and create equity for Canadians for businesses. However, by removing an existing simple tax tool that has existed for years yet failing to create an alternative, and by forcing Canadian small businesses to absorb sales tax into their prices at the cost of added workload, Etsy has done the opposite.

UPDATE: (July 2 & 10, 2022) There have been numerous issues since this rolled out on June 30th (yes, Etsy stopped charging taxes with the tool as early as the afternoon before they said they would). I have posted examples on Twitter and in my updated blog post.

Check your Canadian orders for the following:

Tax not charged on June 30th.

PST charged on top of the GST included in item prices; this is ongoing and the BC government has confirmed it is illegal. BC says buyers should apply to Etsy for refunds on the overcharges, but Etsy Support has not been very competent in figuring this out so far.

GST and PST charged to the customer despite the seller being GST-registered - then Etsy adds the collected tax to the shop’s payment account! Most examples seem to be sales to BC, and happened July 1.

PST charged at too low a rate (5% instead of the higher provincial percentages).

HST charged on registered seller orders, but not charged on unregistered seller orders.

BC PST charged on orders shipped from outside of Canada - this should only be happening with Manitoba and Saskatchewan buyers.

Also, Etsy said they would be charging Canadian tax on our seller fees, but hasn’t so far. There reason will likely surprise no one - they just haven’t gotten around to programming that yet. People seem to be talking about their experiences on the Childe banner so I thought I'd share mine. I already had childe from his first re-run but I decided to pull more on his banner in an attempt at 3 things. Childe c1, c2 chongyun (had him at c1 and plan on building him for cryo support at some point), and yanfei cons (she's arguably my main dps, and I only had her at c1). Unfortunately though I only got exactly 1 of those things. Thus far I've gotten only yanfei cons as far as 4 star characters. No other 4 star characters, just weapons and 5 yanfei cons. I'm not really complaining, I mean she's c6 now and hits even harder than before plus I've always had a soft spot for yanfei character wise too as she seems like someone I'd really get along with, but like, just 1 Chongyun pls? Just one. And Childe didn't come home either. Instead I got Qiqi. I'm not mad about getting Qiqi really, I didn't have her before and I absolutely adore her, she's my daughter, but now I have guaranteed and 35 pity. This admittedly doesn't sound bad but I've pretty much decided to give up on Childe's banner because I want to get Thoma next banner. Problem is, I really really really don't want Hu Tao. Don't get me wrong, character wise I love Hu Tao to bits, I feel like we'd get along super well, but I really dislike her playstyle and would most likely never use her. So now I need to hope my traditionally bad luck with pulling 5 stars early (I've never pulled one before soft pity) continues to hold and that Thoma cooperates. Also fun fact, I actually also lost the 50/50 on childe's re-run banner too at first (to Keqing that time), thankfully I had enough primo left to get him cause I had like 65 pity going in, but it's funny because childe happens to be the only character whose banner I've lost the 50/50 on (I've also pulled on Venti, Zhongli, and Kazuha's banners and won] and I've lost it on him twice. SMH, the other characters are really trying to keep the dangerous fatui man away huh.

Also to the other nonnie that forgot their original genshin account password, so long as you remember the email you used I'm pretty sure there's a way to reset it by going to mihoyo's website. I don't think I can post the actual link to where you need to go because the asks tend not to send if there are links in them, but if you Google how to reset genshin password there's a reddit thread with a link in it that will take you where you need to go.

Anyway, glad to have you back Myuni!

Do you think Julie would think of Les Mis and Hamilton cos Thomas and Kitty are from about the same time period as those musicals? I hope Julie calls Fanny Mary poppins.

Honestly, there's so much to get into, so I’m putting it under a cut:

I gave you *so much* benefit of the doubt when I saw this comment, and assumed that maybe you're an ESL user, just very enthusiastic to share ideas, and I pretty much said so in my reply, but know that at that point I'd already had friends- who fucking know about this, don't you dare think you're getting me alone- tell me that you were being very demanding.

Below was my reply (another email notif):

I'm gonna be honest, I think I responded really well to what I was given, and now that I'd replied, I was pretty certain the situation was dealt with. You, evidently, didn't agree, as shown by your reply to my reply:

A word of advice: when replying to someone, at least pretend like you read what they wrote.

At this point I'm left wondering two things:

What do they expect from me, if a general reply is not it?

How much more shit do they have waiting to tell me to put in my- reminder, JATP/BBC Ghosts crossover, rated T, comedic- fic?

In order to avoid finding out either, I freeze the thread on AO3. I'm liveblogging all of this on Discord.

It's then that I notice that the username on AO3 isn't clickable, so even if I wanted to block or report them I couldn't. I assume, therefore, that they've deactivated, and since them seeing their comments gone and getting angry was the only thing stopping me deleting the comments, I delete the comments.

It's also at this point I see "Mimi" never left kudos. I guess I don't deserve praise until I mention "Bill Cilnton".

There's relative calm for a short amount of time, until I get another comment:

This one is much kinder than the others and doesn't mention any specific, weird, historical events, so the extent to which I think this is "Mimi" is debatable, but bestie I'm weirded out enough that anything that even uses the enter bar unnecessarily and misses out conjunctive words like "because" and "and" is going to activate fight or flight. Update: Carl Birtles is not Mimi or Lulu. Carl was just being genuinely kind and I misinterpreted it and that's on me.

However, "Carl"'s case is not helped by the fact I can't click his account either, that AO3 offers me the ability to report it as spam, and that guess who replies to "Carl"'s comment: Update: Carl, having done nothing wrong as he has, is therefore also a victim in the situation that is being replied to by Lulu. It would seem Lulu is trying to correct??? some of Carl's commentary.

You must think I didn't get a 7 on my English Literature GCSE because you seem to underestimate my ability to compare two texts.

So clearly this is "Mimi", who has also just replied to "Carl". "Lulu" is also deactivated, and I've fallen off the end of my tether, let alone reached it, at this point so I mark it as spam. "Carl" gets to stay bc he said the idea for the crossover was good. Update: Carl also gets to continue to stay because I have it on good faith that he's a stand-up dude.

So at this point you've readily admitted through your inability to shake up your writing style to using at least one sockpuppet to convince me to talk about the "Yugoslav wars".

If "Carl Birtles" is the real(-est) of them, and "Mimi" and "Lulu" are the sockpuppets, by the way, I have questions and ideas about what you do on your free evenings and I want them neither confirmed nor answered. Update: This is slanderous and I want to apologise wholeheartedly to Carl for making assumptions about him and judging his character. Once again, he is not Mimi or Lulu. He's just a normal, cool guy.

And now you come to me, on the day of my daughter's wedding on a different platform, leave me an anon ask in the exact same format as you're so fond of, and expect any different ??

Here's exactly why I will never include anything you have told me to include:

Julian and the Phantoms discussing the Berlin Wall would be highly inappropriate for the largely fluffy, cracky tone of my fanfiction, especially given how recently the event occurred, how many Eastern Germans still experience prejudice to this day because they were born within the old borders of the DDR, and because of how nuanced this, essentially proxy war, was and how ill-informed a huge amount of the world is on the actual factors in play during this time and the Cold War in general.

They won’t discuss Bill Clinton because all of them know who the current world leaders are: they don’t have amnesia, they’re ghosts. The fic is also rated T, so it would be inappropriate to make any explicit reference to “sexual relations”. None of them play saxophone.

Julie wouldn’t think of Les Mis or Hamilton because Thomas is Regency, not French Revolution, and Kitty is Georgian, not Colonial.

Julie won’t be calling Fanny Mary Poppins because she is perpetually stuck in a white dress, doesn’t wear a hat, doesn’t own an umbrella or a purse and was not the nanny or housekeeper of Button House.

The ghosts will not discuss the marvels of modern transportation or how long it would’ve taken to cross the Atlantic on dinghy because the ghosts have seen Friends. The house irl is on a flight path. They know airplanes exist. Alison and Mike pulled up in a car.

I will probably have the phantoms and Willie talk to Pat and Julian about being from the ‘80s and ‘90s. That I will actually probably do.

The Captain will not mention FD Roosevelt because, again, they all know who the current world leaders are, and I doubt he expects a ‘90s pop punk band to have any insider knowledge on the man.

It was interesting to think of the phantoms’ grandparents having been alive during WW2. I wasn’t lying. But there is nearly nothing I can do with this information.

But above all: both sets of ghosts have already adapted to modern life. Because the shows are shorter, and meant to actually be able to fit jokes in them.

If you want to see any of this, write your own damn fic. I don’t own the concept of a JATP/BBC Ghosts crossover.

What you will not do, “consonant-vowel-consonant-vowel”-nim, is hound me on multiple accounts and then change platform to hound me again. I’m absolutely not having it.

I have never received an interaction quite like this before, and I cannot help but wonder if this is because this is my first work in the Ghosts/HH/Them There/Six Idiots/Yonderland/Bill fandom: that this is where you primarily camp out.

So it’s at this point I ask the Them There/Six Idiots fandom if they have/if they know anyone who has had a run-in with this person or thinks they may have, or if anyone perhaps even knows who this is? Maybe I’m just one of many. Maybe this is a necessary fandom evil I was unaware of.

This experience has left me royally freaked out, as one might imagine, especially since my anxiety in general has been acting up due to it being exam season. I want to thank everyone who’s read my rambles on Discord and on here and even listened to them irl and offered support from the bottom of my heart.

➥ a/n: we’re back at it again with another wip i never finished lol. this one is the outline for what was intended to be a social media au (as evidenced by some of the notes i left for myself), though it’s likely that’s not how it actually would’ve come out. i’d love to hear some of your thoughts/reactions, and i hope you enjoy ♡

start w y/n and yoongi goofing off on twitter

the whole y/n eating a moldy grape thinking it’s a kiwi thing

and yoongi panicking bc of it

could transition into them talking about the finale episode of their favorite show: worst chefs in seoul

they’re both huge fans, and equally complete disasters when it comes to culinary skill

yoongi likes the show bc he likes the competition aspect and tbh he got addicted after y/n forced him to watch the first season w them

y/n also likes it for that reason, but the main reason they watch it is bc of a certain kim seokjin

anyway, they talk about the finale, and then yoongi says something about the next season’s ‘nominations’ coming up soon

y/n jokingly says they’re going to nominate yoongi bc of that one time he made tacos with dog food

and yoongi fires back w the time they managed to light the microwave on fire making cup o’ noodles

they agree to let each other live

the two actually do end up nominating each other w/o the other knowing

y/n honestly just thought it would be funny if yoongi got picked and yoongi was like “fuck it why not”

little did they know…..

while the nomination guidelines assure that the selection process is completely random, this is a reality show

meaning for anyone w a brain that’s obviously not the case

contestants are actually chosen by the show’s assistant producers and approved by the chefs themselves and then the higher ups

but who are those assistant producers??

none other than park jimin and kim taehyung

neither of them keep their involvement with the show a secret, and one takes it a teensy bit more seriously than the other

anyway, they’re usually told to find a batch of contestants (that they feel) would conjure up the most drama for the show

it is tv, after all, and they have to keep people watching

and that part is crucial

to their credit, they do (somewhat) succeed for the most part

jimin selects yoongi and namjoon from the nomination pool bc he thinks joon’s clumsiness w yoongi’s nonchalant nature will work for max chaos

and taehyung chooses y/n and jungkook bc while their competitive drives are similar, y/n’s subdued nature has a big chance for conflict w jk’s out-there attitude

(how do they know all this? they’re experts at what they do leave me alone)

y/n (and yoongi, secretly) is ecstatic when they get the emails/DM/whatever that they’ve been “chosen for the next hot season of worst chefs in seoul!”

but then yoongi asks if it’s allowed for them to know each other and accept the nomination

like they’re best friends. is that going to present some kinda problem that’ll get them both kicked off??

should only one of them accept it?

(he’s immediately ready to sacrifice his own nomination bc he knows how much y/n cares about this stupid show)

y/n says they’re not going to let him do that bc they were both chosen, meaning they both should get to go

but—

“it’s fine!! we can just pretend we don’t know each other when we’re on set!”

and so they’re off

to some undisclosed location in seoul

day 0

jimin and taehyung are the first to greet everyone, collecting all four contestants together for a tour of the dorms

and y/n starts texting yoongi in a panic bc both of their dumbasses forgot that the contestants are separated into teams as soon as they arrive

yoongi prolly says smth like i’m two feet away from you why are you texting me

(y/n reminds him they can’t make it seem like they know each other)

yoongi acts like it’s not that big of a deal

prolly says there’s a good chance they’ll end up on the same team

and if they don’t they can just hang out in the dorms when the cameras are off and away

which is when jimin loudly announces that this season, each team is getting their own dormitory

and that contestants will be required to stay in their dorm while filming the season, except for approved ‘outings’ for the show

he moves on before anyone can ask what that means

they’ll be allowed to pick whichever dorm they want to stay in for the first night, since they want to get the contestants’ reactions on camera when they reveal the teams

but after they’re revealed tomorrow, it’s your dorm and your dorm only

y/n and yoongi automatically gravitate towards each other

they end up together in the ‘new’ dorm, which yoongi grumpily notes is practically bigger than their whole apartment

y/n wonders if they ended up in seokjin’s dorm, and gets excited at the thought of this being a ‘test’ to see which chef’s team they’ll be on

to which yoongi asks what makes this dorm his?

“idk i just...feel his aura in here”

“.......okay, weirdo. i’m gonna go ‘feel his aura’ in the bathroom and take a—”

“yoongi!!”

y/n can either ask what yoongi thinks of the other contestants or they can both pretty much blow them off entirely for the time being

idk which yet

day 1

next morning, the contestants are woken up bright and early by none other than our favorite assistant producers

the wake up call comes in the form of a new group chat between the six of them

along with a link to ‘download’ the calendar for the shooting schedule

(which is really an app/virus that disables certain functions on their phones)

((such as most social media and texting numbers outside their ‘parameters’))

after that’s all hashed out, jm & t explain that this group chat is for any and all notifications and updates about the show, as well as any questions and/or concerns the contestants might have

“can i just vote to eliminate myself now and go home?” and

“how do i get this fucking thing off my phone” and

“when do we find out what team we’re on??”

the answers to which are

you’ll find out when filming is finished

and right now!

they tell the contestants to get up and get dressed as their first day on set officially starts now

y/n and kook immediately jump into action and leave the gc

joon lags behind a little confused but follows the flow

yoongi, ever the people person, gets aggressive when they don’t answer his questions about their goddamn malware

“is this even legal?? are you even fucking allowed to just disable our devices like this?”

“what if there’s an emergency??”

“looks like you’ll just have to find out, huh?”

yoongi’s phone then crashes and won’t let him unlock it until the first block of filming is finished

jm: “oops ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ”

day 1 recap

we find out through our superfan what happens during the first episode

(maybe do something like this person is some kinda press/‘news’ account dedicated entirely to w.c.i.s. and the two chefs)

((mayhaps they leak the contestant list before it goes public??))

((jimin and tae could have some kinda unspoken rivalry w them lol))

anyway the story is told through them in a series of twitter threads

(plus a few messages from y/n to yoongi freaking out about the teams they get put on)

first event of the day is: the team announcements

yoongi and joon end up on team kim seokjin and y/n is on team jyp w kook

being split up puts a bit of a damper on their plans, and with this stupid cell block they don’t know if they’ll even be allowed to talk to each other

none of them get much time to react, though, as they’re then shuffled off to their respective kitchens

where they finally meet their respective chefs

and, lo and behold, y/n is goddamn terrified

jinyoung is even scarier in person than he is on tv

“don’t laugh at me yoongi!! this is the guy who made a girl sob on live television!”

“and now ur gonna be the next person what’s the problem lmao”

while y/n tries to get past their fear, they’re given their first official task: work together with their new partner to create a meal of their choice

the catch is that they aren’t allowed any help from their chef yet

and since the teams were just announced literally like 10 minutes ago, none of them have had much of a chance to get to know each other

(the network knows this, and does this on purpose since most of the seasons’ first episodes are spent either arguing or being completely lost)

things go about as well (read: badly) as expected

y/n and kook soon discover their very conflicting personalities and spend the majority of the round bickering back and forth about what to make/how to do it

meanwhile yoongi slaps a piece of sliced cheese directly on the stove while joon runs around like a chicken w its head cut off

in the end, team jyp somehow manages to come out victorious

they cobble together some (semi) edible banana milkshakes to present to the judges

(‘together’ meaning y/n wanted to make plain vanilla milkshakes and kook switched it for banana milk when they weren’t looking)

yoongi and joon tried (keyword being tried) to make grilled cheese

but between yoongi’s cheese-to-stove method and joon dropping their two pieces of burnt toast right before the timer rang

they didn’t get many points

as their reward, team jyp has the honor of picking what they’ll be making tomorrow

they’re given the rest of the day to think and talk it over while team ksj is told to reflect on what went wrong in today’s trial

back at the dorms (now in their separate teams), y/n finds that yoongi finally graces them w a response

(and that they were right about which one was ‘seokjin’s’ dorm)

yoongi tells them about ‘that little shit’ locking him out of his phone and that he honestly just wants to get tf out of there contract or not

y/n convinces him to stay and stick it out, if not for them then for the prize money at the end

yoongi then asks what dish they’re going to pick for tomorrow, and asks if they can pick something he at least has an idea how to make

cue y/n saying that they were thinking of suggesting one of seokjin’s signature dishes but not knowing if kook would go along w the idea

“he kept trying to switch out our ingredients for banana milk and i don’t know how to tell him to knock that shit off”

“honestly you know i’m not one to take charge but he wasn’t even listening to me!! what’s to say he’s actually going to listen to the PROFESSIONAL chef here to help us??”

“aNd SPeAkINg oF THaT”

cue y/n whining about how they wanted to be on jin’s team and it’s not fair that they both got stuck w jinyoung AND a bratty kid on their team

yoongi sympathizes since he was looking forward to them being on the same team, but makes y/n agree that if he has to give the competition a chance then they have to give kook one too

“i mean yeah he seems like a bit of a dumbass but isn’t that why we’re all here? bc we have no fuckin clue what to do in the kitchen?”

hmm...fine they’ll give him a chance

but they still think he’s a lil shit and don’t really wanna talk to him at all, let alone reach some kinda compromise on what to make

they don’t get much or a choice, though, as they both receive a mysterious message from...jungkook? in another group chat?

the contestants find that they have all been manually added to another gc

except this one is missing the two assistant producers who love to breathe down their necks

everyone but jk is immediately suspicious

is this some of trick to get them to screw up?

to break some kinda hidden clause in the contract none of them actually read?

wasn’t that thing they downloaded supposed to block incoming messages like this?

“but wait, yoongi, then how were we able to…?”

but as of right now, they don’t get any answers

and they’re all too afraid to ask anyone but each other

“well we’re all here so...we might as well get to know each other right?? :D”

this is where we get our first in-depth look at the four people stuck on this show together, who in their lives nominated them and why

(y/n and yoongi’s lying skills are put to a bit of a test as they each rush to pull stories right out of their asses)

kook talks about bambam and says his nomination said smth about “adding banana milk to everything f*ckin thing he makes”

he doesn’t really get why that was enough to land him a spot on the show but he thought it would be pretty cool to be on tv and just went along with it

namjoon talks about hobi and emphasizes that he’s not that bad of a cook

he just gets nervous and confused when it comes to recipes and cooking which expresses itself in the form of his unabashed clumsiness

joon then asks if they’ll really be prevented from having any outside communication until filming is finished

he, like yoongi, questions the legality of deceitfully installing the block on their phones

y/n says there probably was some kind of hidden clause that allowed them to do that, as they “can’t imagine seokjin would take part in a competition that abuses its contestants”

to which joon replies that they don’t actually know seokjin so they can’t really ‘imagine’ anything about how he will or won’t act

right as yoongi is about to jump in and tell him to back off, jungkook decides that that’s way too much legal talk for him

he forces changes the subject back to the gc as a whole and says that even if they’re prevented from talking to their friends he’s happy they’ll “at least have each other :D”

y/n feels like part of that is directed at them and feels bad for how they thought he was ‘just a dumb kid’ before

namjoon, however, is still hesitant

he’s not sure if this chat could get them in trouble in regards to the show and their contract and what not and says that they all should probably delete it just to be safe

but that is unanimously vetoed by y/n and kook (and yoongi, reluctantly) and they decide that if the block allowed it to pass through then it must be allowed

before joon can argue anymore, they all receive a message from tae in the ‘official’ gc

he briefly explains the lights out policy of the dorms and tells them that they’re probably going to want a good night's sleep for their ‘big day’ tomorrow

yoongi then says smth like “well...guess that’s lights out then” and jk responds excited as ever w “night guys!! see you all in the morning! :)”

and y/n can feel their soul leaving their body for even thinking anything ill about him

day 2

contestants are woken up bright and early by alarms they didn’t set

(“oh great, so they just hijacked every app on our fucking phones then”

jimin tells them all to hurry up, get dressed, and meet the chauffeur outside bc they can’t afford to be late

(“literally! every second you waste is money docked from the network’s wallet! so get your asses in gear, guppies!”)

y/n and kook get outside first, but yoongi and joon are nowhere to be seen

y/n decides to text the q & a gc to get the dirt on seokjin

they kinda start sucking up to jimin and tae to see if they’ll reveal any info, particularly about what the chef is like and if it’s possible for him to talk to the ‘other’ team’s contestants

and while the producers are pleasantly surprised that one of the contestants actually want to use that gc for something other than yelling at them

they unfortunately can’t give much info besides what most people already know

and confirm that one of the chefs talking to the other’s students was probably not allowed, but that it’s also never really happened before so they’re not really sure lmao

(“taehyung!!” “what? was i not supposed to say that?”)

jimin cuts the conversation short there as yoongi and joon arrive and they all get on the shuttle for the set

taehyung does say one last thing tho

“good luck!! hopefully they don’t tear u up too bad!”

but first

our superfan gives us the downlow on the competition and how it works

after being split into teams, the contestants will rotate between ‘training’ w their chef and competing against each other in timed trial rounds

prizes can be won for both events, but the ones for the trial rounds are generally more competition based while the ones for the training rounds are more about luxury/quality of life while filming

each trial round win counts as a point towards the team’s score in the competition

only trial rounds affect this score

once a certain number of points has been reached (5), that team moves into the next phase of the competition

instead of working as a team, they are split up and now have to work against each other to win the favor of their chef

and in the finale, after one last big cookout competition, an individual winner is chosen and crowned a ‘former’ worst chef in seoul

once the contestants arrive on set, the chefs reiterate that today is just a training round

(they all let out a collective sigh of relief)

and it’s a good thing everyone woke up so early bc they’re just in time to learn how to make breakfast!!

“it’s not like we had much of a choice-oof.”

“anyway! team jyp, since you won the pretrial round yesterday, you get to decide what both teams will be learning how to make today. so, y/n, jungkook. think carefully. what do you want for breakfast?”

y/n is about to suggest seokjin’s signature strawberry and cream crepes when jungkook, who is still half asleep, blurts out “omelette”

(also i’ve decided that jackson is the host of the show now and i’m not changing my mind)

and it’s decided. they’re makin’ omelettes

(y/n is only a little bit peeved)

shuffled off to their separate kitchens, y/n is reminded of just how terrified they are of jinyoung

sure, they thought he was scary yesterday when they realized they were on his team, but now he has to actually teach them and they can’t help but think he’s going to make them into an idiot sandwich by the end of the day

as such, they try to keep half-asleep kook in between them and jinyoung at all costs, even if it meant running around the kitchen like a lost puppy

jinyoung, fully aware of how the show portrays him and how fans view him, notices this almost instantaneously

but he unfortunately doesn’t get to pull y/n aside to address it before jungkook starts digging through the fridge for banana milk and almost throws the entire carton of eggs on the floor

professional chef jyp mode: on

and they’re off

it’s a little difficult with y/n dancing around the kitchen anxiously and jungkook’s absolute aversion to being told what to do (as y/n predicted), but jinyoung manages to whip them into shape long enough to (barely) make a ham, cheese, and “green onion? wtf is that?” omelette

team seokjin, however, does not favor as well

yoongi apparently doesn’t know what tf a green onion is either and just throws in whatever green vegetable he can find while jin is struggling to keep namjoon from setting himself on fire

….and it turned out to be celery

that, plus joon somehow managing to burn the omelette to a crisp, costs them the training round

y/n and kook start to celebrate their victory and actually working as a team when jackson informs them that their ‘prize’ is they get to eat what they cooked while the other team gets whatever is left over on the catering table

“i hope you listened to your chef!”

“...jungkook, please tell me you used actual milk in this”

“um…”

back at the dorms, the contestants share their thoughts on their first day of training, as well as their first official day w their chefs

(also include y/n saying something about their banana milk omelettes actually not being half bad)

y/n immediately recalls how much they were terrified of jinyoung, almost cutting their finger off when he glanced over their shoulder when they were slicing the green onions

jk agrees, adding smth about how he didn’t think a scowl could ever be so intimidating

“it reminded me of my mom’s face when she found out i tried to pierce my own ears in the bathroom in middle school!! i was too afraid to push the needle all the way through and walked around with it in my ear all day until one of my teachers finally noticed and sent me to the office!”

...ok jungkook

during all of this, yoongi and joon are both like...wtf

“seokjin was literally nothing but nice to us. even when namjoon almost set his sleeve on fire lmao”

“hyung how did u manage that” “doesn’t matter”

jungkook thinks the difference in the chefs is hilarious, but y/n is only upsetti spaghetti

they go on a bit of a rant about how badly they wanted to be on jin’s team

saying something about how jinyoung is scary and mean and they’re almost positive he can sense their fear or something and probably use it against them while jin’s team would be so much better on the sole fact that they wouldn’t feel like he would turn them into an omelette for getting something wrong

cue jk being all babey asking “you...don’t wanna be on a team with me? :((“

and y/n immediately PANICS and tries to explain that NO, it’s not HIM but yoongi saves their ass by saying that seokjin is just their favorite and that’s all

jungkook feels better, but then namjoon is like “hol up. we all just met. how could you possibly know that?”

insert more y/n fumbling and jk confusion

yoongi (once again) covers w some bullshit story that he was able to just guess that based on what y/n’s said in the gc so far

joon wants to question it further, but jungkook informs them that the lights out call just came in before he can

another yoony/n sigh of relief

in private, y/n freaks out to yoongi for almost blowing their cover to the others

prompting a short conversation over whether they think they can trust them or not

y/n admits that they’re warming up to kook, but is a little suspicious if namjoon will keep their secret yet

convo ends with yoongi saying something like “well, the kid’s right about one thing. at least we know we have each other”

resources that i use for my userboxes and other things that are free (with links lol) and applicable examples:

Userbox Maker: Since we’re talking about userboxes, this one is indeed a no-brainer. The interface is easy and simple: You type the message, you change the colors, and then voila. The site doesn’t have images to add to the userbox ID square, thats up to you to put something there later.

What does it offer me?/Pros:

well, it offers you a way to make really easy userboxes with a color scheme (some are premade, others you can choose the colors) and resizeable text.

Cons:

The whole ‘Use this code in the English Wikipedia’ to get the box is LOST on me completely. im savvy but im not that savvy! What i normally do is enlarge and cut it, make the background transparent, then make the edit from there for what I need. Is that illegal? Who knows.

The colors of the premade color schemes are very dull and kinda washed out/ muted. You can change the color scheme of you box manually in the hex boxes, but even then they’re not as bright as you would hope. But hey, its free, what can you do? Here’s the color hex site that I use: X and here’s a pixel art maker bc I know the kids love that: P

LunaPic: Allows you to make transparents, flags, and other little photo edits like crop and filters. Con is that you have to have the thing you want to edit saved on your computer already, thus if you wanna do a quick edit of something in your clipboard you have to save it first aka, a hassle if you’re trying to meme

What does it offer me?/Pros:

See all those tabs right there? each one has a bunch of effects and things that go with them, so you’re bound to find something useful on the site no matter what you’re looking for, complete with sliders for easy adjustments. There’s color tinting, watermarking, transparency, pixelations, and the list goes on. You can also draw but its no PTS if you catch my drift.

There’s a editing history at the bottom of the page for you to see what you’ve done to your image. The site automatically carries your image over to the next tool you click on (if the tool is applicable to it, such as Draw from Color Tint). This is also a con if you accidentally edit your picture to something else entirely, but the history allows you to jump back an edit.

No flash needed for a lot of them!

Cons:

The site it massive in your browser, and because of the automatic drop down when you hover, you end up getting this overlap over the category and may end up clicking what you didn’t mean to. Easy fix is zooming out to about 80% to combat the overlaps. Because of this, if you’re going to use your phone, do it in landscape mode. wont be the best experience but it gets shit done.

site has ads but not pervasive ones. if you really dont like them, use an adblock.

For flag editing, the colors are a little rough, and require pretty damn good memory of what the right colors you want are called if you want a richer or more specific look. there is a color wheel though, which i believe is new.

Bloggif: another photo editing site, but its hella retro kinda. I believe the site is originally french so hey. lets you make old internet type gifs and icons, complete with glitter effects,fx effects, and even little smileys to add to your stuff.

What does it offer me/Pros:

Truth be told: not very much! There are only 20 editing tools on the site to use at your leisure, a significant downgrade from LunaPic’s 200+, but what it lacks in editing it makes up for the lovely retro feel it has. There is gif support, including deconstructing gifs if that’s your flavor, and the infamous glitter tools kids love these days!

some of the tools actually have lots of options with them, for example, the ‘Animated smiley’ tool, which offers 16 smiley shapes, numerous little add ons, and the ability to upload your own image to edit into this ‘smiley’. There are options at the bottom for the blink speed (Rapide, Moyen, Lent, Aucun which in layman translation is Fast, Slow, Slower, Stopped).

can support small images and larger images, but i wouldn’t recommend trying to over power the site. Here’s an example of the smiley tool in effect:

It’s fast! And really easy. You can do it from your phone as well!There are photo collages, animated text with effects on the letters and a few other things.

Flash not needed for all of them!

Cons:

‘Swiss army knife of photo editing’ is a bit of a stretch since there are so few tools.

For smilies, there is no free placement of the little effects. They pick a spot and stay there. To layer, you have to reupload the smiley and drop another effect.

Blingee: ye olde blingee.com, lets you make blingees for that really early 2000s feel. TRES IMPORTANTE: to make blingees you need to set up an account (its free). You also need to use firefox (if DDG works im not sure i havent used it with that browser) and update your flash to actually make them after setting up an account. IDKY but it does not work with chrome whether you fixed your flash or not. the site gives you options to share your blingees as well, and you can also see shit from like ...2006 sksk

What does it offer me?

The ability to make blingees. What more can you want? If you’ve been online and a little tech savvy for a lot of your childhood, you may even have a blingee account still. the site is still active hasn’t updated its look for a WHILE, but it’s a pleasing site to look at.

Variety is of the essence here, as there are more than just blingees to create. There are internet postcards and stamps as well, with lots of little effects to add like sparkles and glitter and backgrounds of your problematic kins.

hey guys have you read mona’s manga yet bc there’s a lot of free chapters now! (instructions on how to use piccoma under the cut)

these are the first few chapters when you open the page, right? you can read the ones marked as 0¥ in red

but for the rest, you’ll need a piccoma account

if you click that first yellow rectangle, it’ll take you to a page to make a new account that should look like this:

as you see, you can make an account by linking it to your facebook or twitter. i believe that if you use the app, there’s an option to link it to your google account, but in order to download it it’s likely that you’ll need a vpn or some way to download japanese apps, as it’s region-locked. i personally used qooapp

if you don’t have an account on those websites/don’t want to link it, you have to follow the instructions in the upper part of the screen

first, you have to input an email address on that first text square

once you do it, this rectangle will turn yellow, like that. with that, you’ll receive a verification email that looks like this:

to complete the verification, you have to click that link. it will only work for 180 minutes, so if you don’t click it in that span of time, you’ll have to register again to receive a new link

when you click it, you’ll get this:

obligatory questions are marked with a red dot (so, all of them)

on the first one, you have to input a password. it has to have between 8 and 16 alphanumeric characters, though symbols can also be used

on the second one, you have to input a username

third one, gender: first answer is male, second is female, third is no answer

fourth one, your birthdate. you won’t be able to change it once you create your account

then, your favorite manga genre. you can mark as many answers as you want, but one is enough. first column, from top to bottom, are: romance, drama, underground/lower class (?), gourmet (?), slice of life. second column are: horror/mystery, fantasy, action, sports, novels (yup, there’s light novels in piccoma too, including all the honeyworks ones!)

once you finish, the last rectangle should turn yellow. when you click it, that’s it! you’re finished!

now, onto mona’s manga!

now that you have your account, you should be able to read the third chapter without trouble!

however, what about the latest ones, the ones marked as P61? in order to read those, you’ll need piccoma points, the page’s purchase system. you can access the purchase page by clicking on those paid chapters and then on the yellow はい rectangle

the purchase page looks like this:

as you see, they’re bought in batches so you can’t get exactly the 61 points you need for a single chapter. the smallest batch, 300 points costs 300 yen, which equals to roughly 2.84 USD or 2.39 €. with the smartphone app, however, you can buy a 100 batch for 100 yen, which is roughly 0.94 USD or 0.79 €. if you buy the 1 000 yen batch, you’ll get 30 for free, if you buy the 2 000 yen you’ll get 80 points free, the 5 000 yen gives you 250 and so on, as 1 point = 1 yen. the points will expire after 180 days of your purchase.

important: if you buy your points in the app but then login in a computer, these points won’t transfer. if you buy them in your phone, they’ll stay in your phone and you can only use them through there and vice versa. for that reason, i don’t recommend logging in and out or else you’ll lose the points. however, if you buy the points and exchange them for the chapter on the same device and session, you can read that chapter everywhere else as long as you’re logged in, just not use the rest of your points

and this is everything about the points!

however, you’ve noticed that there’s another type of chapters, the ones with this symbol (which are most of them):

good news: you can also read these for free!

though, if you click them while they’re grey, they’ll take you to the purchase page too

once every 24hrs, you can read one of the ones in blue for free, and after you read them once, you can reread them as many times as you want in the following 72 hours

if you’ve read the 3rd chapter, which had that symbol but in blue, the fourth one will have turned blue too and the third one will have a text:

that text marks the hour countdown as to how much time you have left to reread the third chapter

and, even though the fourth chapter is blue, you can’t read it as you’ve already read a blue one today. wait until tomorrow and you’ll be able to read it too. and so, day by day, you’ll be able to read the first 19 chapters of the manga for free! (and the other free ones to come in the future)

even if you can’t understand japanese, i totally recommend reading it! the drawings give you a pretty good idea of what’s going on, but even if it doesn’t really make sense to you, the art is cute and fun and you’ll get to meet new characters and new sides of the ones you already know! it’s really really great

Update Pt. II: Self-Realization and What I’m Going to do with my Old Posts

i.e. You ever experience having Big Fear of saying something on a subject, but being scared someone/something is going to Crash Down on you with a c/o about how Wrong you are? Here’s how I’m dealing with emotions and expectations and Big Fear of Consequences (incase it helps, but its just my personal experience + thoughts) 💕❤️💗

*this is still just an update on what’s been happening in my life?? So this is literally just what I’ve thought about, processing and dealing with. It’s not really meant to be like - here’s a full-out well-explained educational post with an ending conclusion on the subject. I’m literally just recounting events of what happened and how I feel like I’d do to a friend irl - so I hope you guys can take it as such as well!

It’s not a big deal but I think it’s good to process, share and talk about overcoming my own personal issues with you guys!! 💕❤️💗

So:

There’s one day where I woke up (when I was still without my laptop) and saw someone comment on my old post. I have tumblr linked to my email for certain notifications - just so I can screen and know what to expect when I come into my inbox/replies.

Basically, it was an old post that I wrote trying to help anon but I was factually incorrect (to the point where I cringed at the first sentence and then shamed myself to bed 5 hours later) This made me realize my Top 10 Nightmare of Tumblr Paranoia had came true (at long last).

It’s probably bad to expect it to happen? But it happens y know. And I’m actually glad they commented because phew I want to actually make this blog a place where I can actually help people and talk about things more objectively. So heres the thing:

I’m going to go back and clarify parts of it. I’ll mostly keep most of the content intact because I think I had good intentions, I was just Lacking A lot of Fundamental Theory and Boy That’s Not A Good Thing For An Astro Blog NOT To Have.

I want to keep it as a process and archive of how far I’ve come and how much I’ve grown/learnt. I’m? decidedly not that proud of my earlier works - and there’s things I’m still concerned about that I want to go back and address/re-edit so it could be better. But I think it’s low-key kind of fun to see who you are in the past and how present me would view past me now?

It’s like a scrapbook of my astrology journey as well - like yeah I was wrong on things, but seeing me do more research and making actual pieces of work to complement my studies is like a portfolio of what I’ve done, how far I’ve come, how my objectives have changed (if they have/haven’t) what I could stand before but couldn’t stand now, or maybe some inspiration/insights that I lack now that I might’ve had before. Idk? I just think it’s a cool neat thing to not delete or erase, or Big Fear people will come see because it’s. It’s just there and it’s me.

BUT I do think? I should make it Good for everyone who still have access to the past works. It’s basically in my masterlist so it’s available to literally everyone who decides to check. And it’s NOT good if people get the wrong info because I lacked the knowledge and wrote it in a post, and still made the post accessible to everyone. That’s just.. irresponsible? On my part. And how I put everyone else up to it as well bc of my irresponsibility.

That’s Not Good. So I’m gonna do better to scan through past works and hash it out bit by bit, it’ll take some time but I’ll start with the one that was pointed out - and work my way to other ones as well just to check if they’re ok or not ok.

For Those Who Has The Big Fear as well:

I mentioned at the beginning, this is just me talking about what I want to do about it. I just wanted to share that experience, how I feel (Complete and Utter Shame, that was mixed with Embarrassment and Horror at myself - took me a good 3 days to Process my Feelings and came to that conclusion) -- and just y know -- I’m sure this is not just a Me Thing where you see your past stuff and you Know you’re embarrassed to talk about it. But. It’s not a bad thing. And here’s me living through it.

I think in the future - I’ll continue to be embarrassed by my lack of knowledge because I have a lot to learn. There’s plenty of people - you, me, this new person who seems to know terms you haven’t heard of before, this other person who has very formed opinions on things based on their own knowledge - who learnt things and know things.

It’s? difficult to be on top of it all the time, or know everything if you haven’t learnt about it before. So don’t be ashamed or scared that you don’t? Know everything?

When you’re beginning to learn a subject, I don’t know about others, but me and my friend have this Big Fear of saying the wrong thing or coming off too confident in something that’s Wrong and then someone coming after you/calling you out for it -- it was a mistake, or a lack of knowledge but you can’t be faulted for that.

How are you supposed to know something if you didn’t know? That also can’t be shamed. Maybe because we think we have to be accountable for ourselves and our lack of knowledge-- so we don’t offend someone Big who may be more knowledgeable and personally offended by just-- a person not knowing something.

I think we fear the consequences, sometimes more so than talking about it or enjoying the subject in open-ness to each others who have similar interests (there’s also an issue with inadequacy and comparison, but we’ll talk about that later see topic headers below).

I think the idea that we could get Wrecked and Hurt, Completely Mauled Over by something or someone’s influence/ideas that is Larger than us - intimidates us at a moderately core-level into Not Addressing It (i.e. Not Taking Action/Talking). Because the repercussion seems to be... wild, and Maybe We’ll be a ScrapeGoat of an Unfortunate Event and Thats Not Cool At All Yikes.

Addressing All The Fears (a Bundle Around This Big Fear Context)

I’ve talked about it before, like way back earlier in the days. But I’ve always had a Big Fear of this. That’s part of why I get so intimidated when someone I like/look up to follow me?

There’s always the tiny nagging suspicion and doubt underneath my anxiety regarding this topic - like I’m unsure whether they’re going to see how I talk, what I say, what I’m providing for others and cast judgement that it isn’t good enough - like maybe I’m wrong about something and I’ll have to live with it (unreasonable but still, a Fear) and they can See that and Know i’m wrong. That’s a big Shame and Embarrassed feeling for me (i.e. making a fool of myself, which is?? essentially what this is on)

I think throughout my time here... I’ve begun to slowly mend my ideas about that fear. Part of it is because I’ve learnt more, I’m more active in using my skill-sets.

It’s because I have this blog - that I decided I’m going to start it, and it’ll keep me active in learning that I got to build up my skill-set and kept myself in-check from there. I got to interact with different topics and themes, double-check my own understanding of topics/subjects, sure I don’t know anything and everything. All of this is just what I’ve learnt, and me actively learning as I go - and while it was -- Big Fear and Unstable Ground for a while, eventually I learnt to rely more on -- the support system and people who do appreciate you, like you, what they talk about with you.

You learn to appreciate the systems around you - the ones who interact and likes or ask and talk about stuff. The Fear and Responsibilities gets less and less fearful, because I’ve built trust in others - and it’s a reality check: that not all that’s in my head is good for me. Not even myself and my own thought is as good to me as the reality you live/have around you sometimes. And thats -- a fortunate thing, that’s something to not be taken for granted, and something I have to be thankful for. It directly addresses possible issues I didn’t know I had -- about how much this was weighing on me, by relieving me from it bit by bit as well.

And that’s what I should note on, because even just a solitary ‘like’ on a social media site-- when you’re scared or unsure of whether you’ve made a right call -- is enough of a support for you to rest a little easier, knowing someone else got what you intended and support you morally as well.

Standards and Logic: Ideals

I still get Big Fear because of my own ideals - like sometimes I have a mean voice? That just goes ‘you’re an astrology blog - your core/most basic requirement is to KNOW basic facts about astrology’ and then it goes ‘you NOT knowing something about the subject -- something basic, and STILL getting it wrong is absolutely irredeemable’

You know what’s the worst part about the mean voice? It’s because it’s my brain, it’s how I reason and logic. This is how I hold my own standards and ideals, and no matter how kind I am to others, my own core self isn’t kind to myself. Fundamentally --- since I couldn’t resolve it, I believe it’s my standard and is underlying in how I treat others too (even if I actively work to Not Let That Happen or Be True, it’s still a part of me).

I don’t want to treat others like that. That’s the scariest part. Part of the reason why it’s so hard - is because we see reason why our mean voice makes sense. To me, that’s objectively the ideal and standard. I already gave it my consent and agreement by understanding it’s logic - and now I fear it.

A part of me just going through this - is confronting this standard issue and my ideals. I think -- all of us who have Big Fear in some ways, understands the logic in just being Good at what you start out to do. Fundamentally, objectively. It kinda makes sense that if you’re going to write about biochem - you should get it right so you don’t fuck up about it.

But I think you all can tell now - reading it in third person - how you’re allowed to make mistakes? If you’re willing to say that to someone else and understand that-- even if you write about biochem, but you might’ve missed a few marks because you got the answer wrong--- it doesn’t mean you’ve completely jeopardize the subject itself and everyone who’s a master at it. You’ve just made a mistake. And everyone - realistically - realizes how little it matters when you admit or realize you’ve made a whoopsie.

Making Mistakes - Accepting Being Wrong To Not Become an Asshole

A mistake is a mistake, it’s a human error. People fuck up sometimes, but -- we learn from our mistakes.

It’s just a matter of accepting it in the first place? Being able to accept the mistake is what differentiate being an asshole to actually not letting it hinder you and moving on.

I think -- just in my case -- I can see why it’s easy to cling on. If you only have your skill-sets to hold onto to, it’s hard to accept any other form of opinions or ideas that challenges it. I think that’s -- ego -- but also defense/offensive action.

Not -- ‘im offended’ but more like, a tactical offense. I’ve seen people who manipulate others because they only have their skill-sets. Making the audience sway in their narrative and perspectives because they say it’s the ‘truth’ and that they’re knowledgeable or have experiences. I don’t necessarily agree with what they do, but that’s -- not on me, and I don’t care because that’s not something I?? feel comfortable addressing.

I offered this brief example - because it’s the opposite of ‘well I don’t feel adequate about my knowledge, maybe I shouldn’t say something because I don’t have anything to offer?’ - here’s an example of someone who has knowledge, and is saying something. But is perhaps doing it in a way that isn’t... ideal as well.

So if you think about the alternative: Which would you rather be?

We just gotta know how to deal with it and address all the different elements to it as we can (what we’ve touched on earlier: own voice, judgement from others, concrete-starting something and self-expectations, fearful of expectations, not accepting being wrong or making mistakes as an OK thing to do, and how to deal with it kinda)

Future Embarrassment (Continuous habit of being Embarrassed and Feeling Inadequate About your Skill-sets/Knowledge)

I’ve always thought about this - like how do I stop myself from being embarrassed and ashamed when I can’t fault myself for not knowing before - the only solution I can find for myself is just to do good.

Not suddenly go research and be on top of it with information + overloading myself like That kind of Good-good (‘im good at what I do’ -- not that type of good, confidence in skills doesn’t cover up insecurities and fear, but you can be confident in other areas you can shine light on better about yourself!)

Do good to me is to chew what I can, say when I can’t, have good intentions and offer the things you CAN give. If it’s insight, clarifications, open-opinions - most people who are coming to you and asking for you are people who appreciates intentions. Just as you expect the same back.

The most consistent thing I’ve ever done is to just be in the mindset of wanting to be good and pushing myself to be good. I’m not saying I’m like -- 100% whole-heartedly a Good Person. But if I just focus on my intent, how it underlines everything, keeping things clear with that intention in mind. As long as I aspire to be good to others, there’s not much else anyone can say to harm me or my motives I think.

Maybe I’m not that good in terms of skill-sets, but more in terms of wanting to do objectively the best that I can, and wanting the best for others. That’s the two things I keep in my mind and goals; in your own heart. Regardless of everything - these two things will keep you going if you truly want and work towards it.

Comparison to others/Inadequacy

I think that to others - maybe other people who have the same goal in mind; maybe same heart, maybe this would mean to do what they can and perhaps they are capable of achieving skill-sets, overcoming insecurities with knowledge and Not Feel Overwhelmed.

But I know that’s not for me? Not how I work or the best I can offer - of course I attempt it too and yeah it works sometimes, but my constant and my ideas haven’t been about being right or correct whenever I post or say something (although I strive to try and do it right, as much as I can) -- it’s always been about realistically - what can I do, what can I give that’s 100% me and what’s needed/capable of doing?

It’s hard because there’s also -- ideals about what IS the best solution. Like when presented with the same problems, same ask. You have two different people who share the same ideals and thoughts - both agreeing that the best way is to do it ‘like this’ - but one does it better and the other watches it knowing they couldn’t have executed it as flawlessly.

And maybe you’re the other - but that, doesn’t make it any less obvious when you see it in third-person that the other person has their own gift and methods that is just as valuable as the one who did the good execution. They provide and support one another, just have to find their wings and respect, appreciate and cherish (lift up) one another’s skill-sets and capabilities as well.

It’s hard to apply it back to yourself -- that your thoughts, words and knowledge is valuable to anyone or that it’s Not lacking in some ways. What you see of yourself - there’s others who sees it in a more tender way than you do. What you can control, and what you can do best, is to not expect yourself to be unrealistic - but expect to be realistic about what you can provide, if all else fails, anyways.

Stick to your guns - I’m basically just trying to say that. The feeling of inadequacy (that’s literally the core of it, underneath the shame) is fine -- and yeah. I don’t have? I’ve written alot but I hope this comes through well.

I’m working through it but I hope, this helps a little. If you’ve read it at all. It’s long and rambly, but I hope this -- helps? Anyone else? Or just myself who’s working through it. But -- I hope this gives strength or support to anyone who needs it. Thanks for reading if you’ve read!!!

okay, something that i really fucking hate both on this hellsite and even on facebook now, is people writing posts about those scammy bullshit survey sites where they’re all like “hey! i made $1,000 for a new phone by using this website! and all i have to do is sit and watch a few ads for a few brands and write some feedback!! sign up today!!!! *posts screenshots of their bank account to show that they’ve been paid certain amounts for certain surveys*” like im so used to it on this hellsite, that i’ve learnt to just scroll past those posts from those big blogs that endlessly reblog those posts.

but it really troubles me that bigger mainstream websites like buzzfeed and junkee (in australia) caught wind of it a while ago, and started to write/re-share articles about sites like swagbucks and toluna being good ways to make some backup cash on uni breaks or whatever. but they’re scams. you know how i know??? because i signed up to these sites for an experiment to see if i would get paid even just $5 for a survey or the sweepstakes (god knows fucking what really lmao) on one of the MANY sites that sites like toluna are also linked to. it’s an endless run around of stupid accounts that you forget that you signed up to. like for one website idk, surveycompare (which i’ve since stopped receiving emails from and i’ve deleted all those emails lmao) sent me to another website called mint surveys (if i remember correctly) and i had to sign up to that before i could used surveycompare or whatever the fuck bc they were somehow linked to each other. and i’ve since found a few more looking back in my emails, like opinionworld and mysurvey, which, again, were linked to each other or whatever.

but my main rankle with this is that the sweepstakes winning or gift card or monetary reward they promised from whatever fucking website i was on, never got sent to me. i never got a $2.50 pay for some shitty 20 minute survey that i did. i never got a $25 paypal gift card sent to me via email or on that particular account. like i honestly dont know how the fuck these tumblr “micro-influencers” or “influencers” (if they can even be called that) and even mainstream media websites are just consciously getting people to sign up to scams. like okay. i know that the tumblr people are getting poached, in a sense. bc i got hit the other day with this bullshit from a bot or corporate account:

and these survey websites are the main sources of scams on this website.... and the fact that the tumblr influencers are peddling them to people in precarious positions (like low-income student payment uni students) or to impressionable young followers, as a good idea of idek a side hustle??? is beyond fucking ridiculous. as an fyi, you’d be extremely, extremely lucky to make even the “i got $50 for a survey!” bullshit claim..... when 95% of the ones i got sent were literally $2.50 or $5 or even maybe $15, but you’d never receive any of that money.... is fucking laughable. please shut the fuck up.

outside of tumblr, you’d think big media sites like junkee and buzzfeed would have some sense of accountability in telling uni students to join scam schemes.... but they fucking don’t. don’t join swagbucks. don’t join toluna. hell, don’t even fucking join neilson or whatever the fuck it is, no matter how much these popular posts with several thousand notes claims these sites are “legit” and “the best in the survey business!!! they’ve been doing it for like 100 years!!!”

just please fucking exercise some critical thinking and don’t join them. because they’re a huge fucking waste of your time.... and you’ll never actually receive that gift card or that sweepstakes prize or that prize of $50 for completing some bullshit customer feedback or whatever...... unless you spend literally every single fucking waking moment of your fucking day on those sites. i’ve done some of it for you with this post.

Chapter 1/10 of It’s A Handheld Disaster

Fic Summary: Teenage life is hard enough, but with the added weight of their lives, both Simon and Baz thrive online in a fandom for the British crime show, Gastrell, about the genius Huxley and his "flatmate" Sam. Through Tumblr, they find each other, and sink into something more than just being mutuals.

Chapter Summary: A shitpost is taken a little too personally, and an argument breaks out. In true Baz fashion, he seeks to prove himself right in the most ridiculous way possible.

BAZ

Morning routines are the most menial shit in the realm of existence of arbitrary tasks.

Everyone seems to have them, yet nobody really has a set one. For example, my step-mum has a long, seemingly pointless hour of simply facial cleansers, serums, and hair products. When I’d asked her years ago why she does it all, she shook her head and said “You’ll never be an aging woman, Basilton.”

I couldn’t quite argue with that.

Regardless, it’s a part of life. The routines. Wake up, morning routine, morning activity, eat, afternoon activity, usually afternoon snack, evening activity, dinner, night-time activity, sleep.

A boring, underwhelming cycle of the day.

Although, I suppose it’s shittier for me, since the homeschooling doesn’t give me a chance to do much besides sit and read. Of course, I have my car and I can drive off to whatever. Hell, father even suggested I get a job to occupy myself, but I don’t quite see the point given how much money we have (and the risk factors with moving around so frequently).

So, here I am. Finishing my classes in a matter of months, then having an entire year of pointless bullshit.

Needless to say, my entire day’s routine isn’t the most thrilling. Wake up at 10 on a good day, check social media and emails, then just lay here until I can’t wait to piss. Piss. Go to eat breakfast and get greeted by screaming children and my poor step-mum trying to wrangle them in. Go upstairs, go back online, see whatever’s on my dash, reblog some shit, then try to do something vaguely productive. Check Archive, check email again. Nothing’s on the emails, ever. Text Dev and Niall, who get awfully pissed since they are in school. Get more food. Eat. Bring tea upstairs, despite the disdained look from our maid (who hates collecting my piles of mugs). Write for a couple hours. Take an afternoon nap, if I please. Wake up and sit there (again). Maybe lonely wank. Go back to the bathroom, stare at myself in the mirror for a good few minutes. Sit on the toilet for half an hour for no reason besides the fact that my phone seems more interesting while sitting there as compared to sitting in bed. Sit then on the bathroom floor doing the same thing. Go back to my bed, listen to music on my phone and work on my laptop. Write, maybe scroll. Get dinner brought to me as they tut that I should be more active. Eat. Go downstairs for an evening workout (they’re right, I shouldn’t confine myself to my bed). Come back, do exactly what I do for half the day until I pass out somewhere around 3 am. Repeat.

Dream life for an 17 year old. Social life of a god.

It’s shit to say (and sort of embarrassing to share) that there’s sort of a social media presence around me. Not quite the Instagram model bullshit, but based around fan life.

Yes, it’s a laughing stock. That’s where my popularity lies--a mixed grab-bag of various ages gathering around various platforms to enthuse about certain topics. And I’m somehow lucky enough to have the slightest bit of popularity here.

As in, a large following. A large, somehow active following.

It isn’t exactly thrilling as one would like to think. Sure, it’s fun to see a scattered group of regulars pop up, and I have my mutuals, but it’s a sad existence to sit around and make various shitposts with nothing better to occupy my mind. Or, at least, that’s what Dev and Niall tell me.

All in all, I blame Fiona. She’s the one who got me into the show, saying she thought the character was a bit like me. After I saw it, I found the three connections she’d grasped at.

Gay, dark-haired, and violinist.

As if that’s a rarity.

Yet, surely enough, I did love it. The cinematography, the characters, the storyline. It was intriguing--captivating.

It doesn’t hurt that the online community was still on the smaller side when I first got there. The show was only a season in when I made my blog, and I’ve stuck through all this bullshit to get me here. One of the regulars. Reposted everywhere, uncredited usually. Big fics, large interactions. Shitposts with thousands upon thousands of notes. I’m recognizable; a suggested name.

Don’t get me wrong, the attention is spectacular. I love interacting with people beyond this depressing household, and they’re usually fairly nice (usually) (except those ravenous for an argument). It’s just awkward to share at times when people ask why your mobile’s got 99+ symbols next to the apps and you just shrug and say “I’m shit at checking it” to avoid the conversation because most people see it as childish.

It’s a shame, really. Especially since I feel emotionally attached to these goddamn fictional fuckers.

I suppose that’s what makes it all the more personal, then. Even the shitposts mean something to me.

Which is what makes this is a long, winded way of saying fuck whoever’s arguing with me about whether or not Huxley is a fucking Ravenclaw. (He is. Hands down.) How’d I get here, staring at my mobile in disbelief at a brief back and forth post turned fight? Because it feels like a reasonable question to wonder.

I got here because, as almost all mornings, I woke up, opened my phone, read my notifs, then sat here, thinking of something. Anything. Then, in a tired haze, typed out a single text post on tumblr.

It takes me a moment to fully process, mouth robotically chewing my eggs as I contemplate my answer.

My phone lights up with the new notification, dragging my attention away from my laptop as the words slide down onto the screen. “@gaystrell mentioned you in a post!” I hate to admit that I get a little pattering in my heart, urging my hand out to grasp the mobile as I pause the Youtube video currently playing. As I read his words, I slowly blink out of my excitement.

He must think that since he’s this big bad blogger, he can call me a tit right out in the open. (Although, he is talking to me, so that’s a plus) (No! No no no, bad validation, Simon. Bad). What, with his thousands of followers and fans of his own, he thinks he can try to say shit out in the open?

Fuck it. He’s either getting a DM or a bloody fist fight from me. I’ll take a train to wherever the fuck he lives (which is somewhere in England, since that’s what his bio says) (and his aunt lives in London, since he’s posted about visiting her) (I really do wonder where he’s from and how close he might be--what if I run into him one day?) (No wait fuck I don’t want that anymore).

Clicking on his blog, the little person drop down gives me the option of a message. I barely think as I type it out, vision going spotty from the adrenaline of the twinging anger.

At first, I grin at it, watching my lone message appear into the empty chat. It’s so freeing--so powerful to send it. I pride myself, in the moment, for this solid move of communication. Of course I’m fucking proud. I messaged the arse myself and gave him a space to fight.

Maybe Penny’s right, I should dial down the confrontation, but it’s just the internet. Nothing important happens through a stupid little argument over Huxley’s true Hogwarts house (although, I’m sure I know I’m right in my heart), but it is a bit of fun to fuck around with someone. It’s a distraction. And that’s why I’m here, afterall. To have a distraction.

Penny thinks it’s a bit silly, but she doesn’t really complain. All she’s ever said was “I thought we left fandom stuff behind us when we were 14.” She said it over lunch, watching me scroll through my at-the-time new tumblr.

It’s funny, I thought I did leave it behind when I was younger. It seemed unneeded as life shifted. I’d just found a stable foster home, with someone who was going to keep me for a while. I found Penny a couple months before I deactivated my old account. I was happy; we were free. I didn’t need a venting place.

Shits been sort of hitting the fan recently, though. No uni plans, David’s been getting more controlling, and of course, Agatha dumping me. It all crashed on top of me a few months ago, and somehow, the only place that I could find healthy coping was online. So, I started fresh. Made a blog and settled in. It’s not big, but I’ve had a few posts get noticed. I have a good few hundred followers, and one nice anon who asks me how I am every few weeks. It’s not a lot, but it’s comforting.

I feel at home here, even with a little discourse.

Well, only when the discourse is answered. Which, in this situation, I don’t know if it will be, given it’s been over an hour now and Baz hasn’t answered.

I’ve wondered for a while what Baz stands for. He refuses to answer it in asks; he always says it’s too personal. He’s sort of odd like that--never posts pictures of anything that could be linked back. Seems sort of creepy, but then again, a lot of people follow him. It’s reasonable to want space.

Maybe that’s why he’s not answering. He probably wants space of some sort, but it’d be at least decent to answer someone who tried to have a discussion (that’s at least what I’m calling that message I sent--a discussion starter).

I frown at my phone, keeping it on silent as I slide it into my front pocket and settle into my seat in maths. I’ll say it--I sulk in class, a little bitter that I don’t have his attention (despite the fact that he seems like he’s always active online, which seems odd). Eventually, I exhale and try to let it slip away. There went my one interaction with him. My few seconds of the weirdest fucking bliss online, gone.

Then, it happens. As the class is ending, I pull out my screen just enough to see and there it is. A clear notification telling me he’d answered. Oddly enough, it’s just him sending me a link to a Google Doc.

Weird.

I ignore it for the moment being, letting myself ride the wave of relaxation that I actually got a reply. It passes my mind until I’m sitting in the back of Agatha’s car, listening to Penny and Aggie in the front talking about whatever’s on their mind. The rides are sort of awkward as of recently. At least Agatha agreed to drive me home (it’s a good 45 minute walk, if not) after some convincing from Penny, but her and I don’t really chat. It’s just the two of them.

Given that time, I have a chance to pull out my mobile and thumb through what was sent.

I click on it, not expecting that much (or, really, not expecting anything at all). Yet, the second it pops up and loads, my jaw drops.

“Jesus fuck,” I say aloud, scrolling through it. Penny turns her head, frowning as I stay locked on my screen.

“What? What’s wrong?”

“No--no nothing,” I say, waving a hand. “It’s nothing.”

“It’s got to be something for that reaction,” she says, keeping turned in her seat as she eyes me up. “Just tell us, Si.”

“I mean it when I say it’s nothing.” My voice gets quieter as I shift, reading the title. “It’s just fandom stuff. It’s really nothing.”

I hear her disgruntled huff as she turns back, mumbling something about me reacting too dramatically to this. “It isn’t even real.” It’s said under her breath, yet it still rings clear in my ears.

It isn’t really fake, either.

Hell, this is six pages of real. “Why Huxley Gastrell is, Without a Doubt, a Ravenclaw”. Shared by Basilton Pitch (is that his actual name?!). Fucking hell, it’s detailed to no ends. You’d think, with this much writing, there’d be pages of pointless filler where he’d just type “im gay hi huxley is also a gay we’re all gay here aren’t we”, but no. It’s full, grammatically correct sentences detailing his points.

It’s a bit much to read in the car, so I settle my mobile face down onto the seat as I’m left reeling. That… was a bit more than I’d expected.

Whoever says that having a flair for the dramatics is pointless has clearly never met me, because I wouldn’t quite call this masterpiece of an essay “pointless”. In fact, I should send it to academics. Rename it “A Study In Multi-Dimensional Characters and their Associated Generalized Personality Traits”. I’ll be hailed as a genius, as I deserve to be.

I crack my knuckles, and see the little person pop up.

Surely enough, it’s @bi-sammy’s name that he has listed online, Simon. It’s curious, he has his last name listed as “Snow”. Although, the smallest part of me believes it’s a pseudonym. Given our interactions, I doubt he’s clever enough to think of a solid pseudonym. And, even at that, why pick Snow?

Either way, it’s surprisingly endearing. Simon Snow. Sounds sweet. Sounds innocent.

I watch his cursor turn on, then his icon goes grey after a few moments. My heart starts to trip, making my cheeks begin to flush. Is… he ignoring this?

No. He can’t be. I put in hard work and dedication into this work, and I deserve the respect I’d sent into it. Fucking hell, three fully developed points (his devotion to intellectual work, his effort to step out of public light for Sam’s sake, and his overall lack of ambition for moving forward). I clearly set it out, and ended it properly; I’d proven that Huxley is a Ravenclaw. Case and point, opinion made, the end.

And, here I sit, watching him have the audacity to open it up then close it back. That was my hard work put in there, and he closes it? Who in the name of all that is sacred thinks he’s that above other people to the point where he just ignores--

Oh. He’s back on. Nevermind.

He’s… probably a school student. It’s roughly the time that most classes end, I suppose.

I make a mental apology to him, despite having never ranted directly to him in the first place.

He stays active for a good bit; long enough to show he’s reading. I assume that he’d just close off and message me, but after minutes, I notice a little highlighted comment pop up on the last sentence.

Each word makes me grin like I haven’t in a while. A wide, cheek-creasing grin. There’s something so sweet to that--so personal. It feels like a note passed to me in a classroom under the tables. Like a cute “Blink if you like me”, although I doubt he has quite an intention.

Nevertheless, it warms my chest, sending my head back as I smile. I’m not sure whether or not it’s the satisfaction of winning, or his words, but I laugh outwardly into the room. It stays with me, reverberating onto my skin and my throat.

I look back at the comment, then leave it untouched. If he won’t remove it, then I won’t either.

With a glance at our personal messages tab, I figure that’s that. Even field, no more argument. No more interaction. It’s a bit of a shame, given the effort I’d just extorted for his sake, that he hasn’t answered in our chat.

While I’m disappointed to close off the document, I smile at it one last time. Sometimes I have to move on from random people, especially when they come on a bit strong.

Except, I find, moments later that I’m wrong about one thing--the moving on. He didn’t just stop his interaction, but instead made a public post.

This time, I really laugh. A full bellied, hand-covering-mouth laugh.

I’m sad too! There was a lot on that account that meant the world to me, and stuff that I hadn’t thought to save since I just didn’t think my entire account getting obliterated without warning would be something I had to worry about. I really liked all the jokes I made recently about hiveswap stuff, and I really miss having the catalog of teal fam bullshit from early troll call release. It’s small stuff, stuff that I still have since I’m the one who drew it, but it’s the context that’s sentimental.

Honestly, I have no idea if they will. Besides the fact it seems like staff is just utterly incompetent according to some accounts I’ve found from people that used to work there, and also just. In general in how they handle this fucking site (by which I mean: they don’t) with their entirely tone-deaf announcements about the situation we’ve all been dealing with as well as ignoring all questions from anyone, about anything....

It seems unlikely?

I’ve been trying to contact support since this happened on the 17th. I’ve sent a total of 4 termination support requests, and probably 5 or 6 follow up emails to those requests with absolutely NOTHING sent back to me in response. Nothing. I’m not even getting automated email replies when I do follow-ups to my submitted tickets.

Maybe it’s just the fact it’s the holidays, which I would really like to believe, but it’s unlikely. I’m going to keep sending them requests an emails, maybe if I’m lucky someone who knows how to do their job will work there for a week and help me out before they realize it sucks and they quit.

The other part that’s bullshit? I can’t even register the same account name(s). They come up as already being taken, but don’t link back to anything if you search the url. They couldn’t even delete my blog right.

It stinks. In a really stupid fucking way, I owe part of my career to creating that tumblr account like eight years ago. I met so many friends and made so many connections through that account. I hate to say that things like that which only have sentimental value - since it’s not like I’ve lost any of my friendships or my entire career bc of it granted though my career IS taking a small dent now that nothing can link back to me from any reposts - get to me so much when they’re lost, but they do.

Alright, I’m gonna be real with you all.... I am broke af rn....

And I need help....

This fund is specifically for Sizecon bc I’ve been going for the past 2 years it’s been active but it’s also a part of my income since it’s the only place I sell stuff at....and I need to start preparing for tickets and such now if I’m planning to go this July 28-29th in NY (tho we’ll likely be staying about a week).

With the calculated costs of con tickets, plane tickets, hotel room, food & transportation, as well as pet sitting while we’re gone, the total has come up to at least $1,300 needed for the trip.... (some of it was rounded and some I don’t even know for sure so it could end up being more tbh... I wish it wasn’t)

Our living situation changed in the past year and I've been struggling to make ends meet (esp after our massive vet bills ending in 2 birds passing anyway in Feb)and now have no money I can save for this con at the end of July...

Longer and more painful situation under the cut.....

But tbh, I had been thinking about setting up a donation pool in general with how bad things have been going. I already had patreons and felt hesitant to start one, but with my depression being so bad for so long and unmedicated, I’ve had a hard time keeping up with those and don’t feel I’ve really earned the money till I’ve finished what I owe... And I owe so much now that I can’t even try to take on commissions to make up for it.

I tried getting health insurance a while back to cover behavioral health bc that’s what I needed most to get me to work regularly again... but it turns out all the clinics for that out her suck ass apparently so I’m just wasting all my money and I feel like an idiot and now it’s just another thing to stress over... I feel dumb even admitting/explaining it but $400/mo for health insurance is something I can’t even afford and I need to fix that asap now bc I’m literally running out of money. Not to mention all the vet bills we had back in Feb when Birb’s health declined again and then even the budgie, who we both inevitably had to put down only weeks from each other... I never asked for help then tho I probably should have... We spent over $1k just in that month with trying to help them and then just for paying for euthanization and ashes... Also part of the reason I got so behind on work stuff. I’m still hardly coping (and actually tearing up just writing it out tbh).

Our living situation changed in the past year and I hardly said much online, but it’s just been Zuka and I mostly paying for the house bills since her family went to live in CA in an already furnished house for a year to do a job with someone. They had a good deal and took it, and while I’m glad to finally having the house to ourselves, it’s been hard doing everything and paying on bills more... And I feel horrible I can’t even help support Zuka more and myself bc of my health insurance bill that I couldn’t even use to help solve the real problem: my crippling depression that I’ve been dealing with horrifically already with the past 3 years (technically longer but it’s been so bad to the point where I wish I had disability for it bc I’m not working to make any money and I’ve been living off savings for that long and now I’m running totally dry). I currently have less than $1k in my bank account shared between my checking and savings... I have more in my paypal, but like I said, I don’t even count all of that yet until I finish my work owed in case of needed refunds.... After this next billing coming up in a few days for the end of the month I’m gonna have close to maybe $500 left.... My patreons have helped me survive scraping by just for this long at least but even that isn’t enough right now and things are dire. I’m really feeling fucked rn. Like I said... any bit helps. I could go into it more but honestly it’s just... I don’t wanna bother writing out more pathetic shit about myself and I’m sure nobody wants to bother reading it either and I don’t blame you... I get even more depressed just thinking about it. Everything has just plummeted and I’ve been wanting this year to be better and have been really trying but there’s only so much I can do without the proper care and medication I need.... I feel most of it is my fault and I’m just a useless piece of shit that’s continuing to be a burden but that’s what severe depression does.... It’s been a while since I’ve even wanted to consider suicide, but boy does not existing or being conscious at all sound great...

Please help me if you’re able... I’ve been in a rough spot for a while now... Thanks for bothering reading any of this if you did.

Happy Monday, minna-san! I hope everyone had a good weekend. We are getting soaked wet since this whole week and maybe next week, it will be raining non-stop. However, we have some awesome news to make the day sunny and fun. You know the drill. First off, the chapter resumes this week so let’s what new move will Luffy use to defeat mama’s boy, Dogtooth. Next, this past weekend, we left off where Luffy won’t budge even after the beating he took from Sanji. The Vinsmokes have arrived so the tea party started. At the end, BM’s kiddies and chess army have marched out to get their revenge for Cracker’s defeat. They’re out for blood, and they want Luffy. Will he and Nami be able to fend off an entire army? Let’s keep our fingers crossed. Now on with the news! First off, Tongari-san was planning to visit us, but with this rainy week, he doesn’t want to catch a cold, but he sent us an email. Tongari-san wrote that something awesome is gonna happen next month at the tower. He mentions that there will be a game event called Tongari Scoop. In this event, it involves you being a reporter where you must gather clues and solve them. The topic is Sanji. You must take good photos of Sanji. We’ll leave link with details. Anyway, if you solve the mystery, you get a free bromide card of Sanji w/in the camera or any way of the official scenes from the anime. Don’t worry, they will have rules in English for foreigners. Participation fee is 600 yen. You purchase your kit at Tongari Island on the first 3rd floor. Next, Mugiwara Café will have three inspired menu dishes from the live action show. For beverage, they have DJ Oumu’s TRO juice which stands for “tropical red orange”. It will come w/ a piece of orange, blue pineapple jelly flavor, and a chocolate music note. Now that’s a classical drink. For dish, they have Puggy’s masquerade nasi goreng, an Indonesian dish that has fried rice w/ ham, eggs, and a sausage with ketchup along w/ a cherry tomato to top it off. GUA! That’s a topsy turvy dish to crave for. For dessert, they have Anne’s fluffy hair matcha w/ a piece of orange, a matcha cake flavor, chocolate music note, matcha flavor powder spread all over, and some whip cream drizzled in orange flavor syrup. So divalicious! Boys are sleeping, but they’ll wake up as soon as they hear Mugi Café which it means they’re hungry for their dishes. Those lunkheads. Anyway, the menu will be released next month. Moving on, it has been announced that Log Gallery 2 will end on Nov.30th, and you still have time to go see it before they renovate the place again. Also, they will have a ticket campaign event. Tommorow, they’ll give away 2 bromide card design if you purchase the park & live or park ticket. The park & live pass will give a bromide card of the live attraction design. If you purchase the park pass, you’ll get the Straw Hats in their formal wear. These are limited time. Campaign starts tomorrow. Also, the tower will also have another campaign where you can make your own bounty picture. Just take pic of yourself, and post it on their Twitter account. Your pic will be included in Luffy’s Endless Adventure. It will go from now till end of October. Next, it has been announced that Shanghai will open their own Mugiwara store on Nov.18th, and they’ll have loads of awesome Chinese themed goods along w/ other official merch. Taiwan will open a 2nd Mugiwara store. Details of opening will be released later on. Next, Ichiban Kuji started taking order for another second set of cute plushies. This time, they have Nami, Zoro, Sanji, Robin, Marco, Ussop, Franky, Whitebeard, Ace, and Reiju. They’ll continue to take orders until they have more in stock. Next, Kumamoto will have a produce campaign where you can order a box of oranges inspired by Nami. For a box of 2 kg. of oranges, you’ll get a free postcard of Nami’s childhood w/ Sanji, Zoro, Luffy, Ussop, and Chopper. For a box of 4 kg. you’ll get a free postcard of the whole Straw Hat gang. They will take online order from Rakuten, Amazon, Wowma, Yahoo, etc. They will only deliver w/in Japan. They’ll take orders now. We’ll leave a link for those interested & live w/in the country. Gain Garage are now taking pre-order for these awesome pop-up smartphone covers of jolly rogers of Luffy, Ace, and Law. They’ll have them available in iphone X, 6, 6S, 6S plus, 7 & 8 plus. Next, DMMVR Theater has announced that the 3D show will start on Jan.20th, and if you purchase ticket, you will receive one free towel of either of the two designs: one w/ Luffy & Ace or Luffy w/ the rest of the characters. They will also have a campaign where you must retweet their ad, and will give away a free 2018 OP sexy calendar. Winners will be informed by direct message. They’ll have two more contests for more prizes to give away. To participate, you must follow their Twitter page, and retweet their ad. Calendar campaign will end on Oct.29th. Second contest will commence on Oct.30th till Nov.12th. The last contest will commence on Nov.13th till Nov.26th.
