my bf and i made a jesskas stardew valley au and we have been playing like crazy nonstop like it’s all i think about right now so here’s a bunch of doodles for it 😍

in the au jesse is the farmer who moves into town from the city and lukas replaces a character named penny, basically living her life (they both share interests in a few things and both have such kind, caring personalities so it fits trust me bro). for those who don’t know… penny’s life in game is kind of horrible. if you are familiar with the game, i’m sure you know what penny’s deal is and the dark reality she is living with her mother who happens to be an emotionally abusive alcoholic. so lukas deals with that, along side a few other things that kind of make his home life way worse (i’m so sorry lukas) but finds solace in the new farmer that he hadn’t met until about a whole year into jesse already living in beacon (pelican)town.

I'm rewatching all the Marvel Defenders shows on Netflix and as much as I mock the MCU now, I need non-Marvel fans to understand that I was and still am a fan of "Daredevil fighting the gentrifying assshole who bought out the police force because ACAB both as a lawyer and vigilante of the community" and "Jessica Jones fighting the man who mind controlled her into doing unspeakable things and forming a community of fellow survivors and allies while dealing with PTSD in a range of both healthy and unhealthy ways" Marvel. always found this little parallel between how scott speaks about buddy cole vs danny husk fascinating:

#on its own this is a cool (probably unintentional) echo of how scott talks about two of his biggest characters #but of course being the buddy-cole-documentary person and the only person who's mentioned scott's ptsdiva podcast to him upon first meeting #(true fact he hadn't heard anyone mention that podcast since it finished releasing and that was a big part of my first impression)#i'm so excited to hopefully dig into the deeper implications of this #bc throughout scott's career he's used buddy as a way to process his thoughts on a variety of topics and to speak his mind #BUT. after he recovered from his cancer. he didn't immediately launch another buddy cole side project like he did so many times #(and i mean MANY times that's why i have a whole goddamn timeline for buddy cole side projects)#no. after he recovered from cancer he wrote the *danny husk* graphic novel #and there's also an interview from around that time (i can't find it rn but i know i have it bookmarked) where he low key blames buddy cole #for how he's always been typecast as the gay-best-friend. which while buddy cole is proudly a stereotype #he's still the exact opposite of that trope bc he has agency. and that's why scott made so many buddy cole side projects #while he was paying the bills with gay-best-friend roles in the late 90s #so what was it in this case that made him go ''actually i don't want to write from the perspective of someone who's better than me''#and embrace a bit of danny husk energy?#i haven't read his danny husk graphic novel yet but i do have some theories #but idk actively theorizing on here (especially as someone who is friends with scott) feels a bit too far so i'm gonna leave it at this #a cool parallel. an interesting timeline pattern. an indication of one of the questions from my next interview #i would say ''i wonder if anyone else has noticed this'' but come on jess you're the only one who would have seen both these things

I very much know this is because Jessica Cruz's origin story was written by Geoff Johns in a shitty comic, but by God is there so much going on there. Like damn.

Like there's the really, genuinely compelling stuff, for example the presence of ring horror and loss of control w Jess and Power Ring/Volthoom + the implications of that (character wise, both before and after JL 50) which is just SO interesting (and angsty!) to me personally

But then there's also more plot holes than you can shake a stick at as well (where did Jess get her ring. Guys it just showed up who died where did she get it from GUYS-)

All interspersed between some of the worst character writing for other Justice League members in existence (Wondy fans you know what I mean) and crazy ass plots out there

#anyways was writing a meta (got distracted halfway through so dont expect anything as always) and i opened this issue for panels and guys.#What. first off i remembered this being weird now but what the fuck. second im not a wonder woman fan and this shit is now heinous to me.#why would they do that. also what was the general plot of that entire arc what the fuuuuuu #anyways. shits crazy that comic sucks except for when jess and/or vic + jess do things but anyways #it has left me with a bit of a conspiracy theory to be quite honest with you all. in terms of the plothole mentioned there. like to be fair #i have a couple theories bc i dont remember this being explored or making sense fully (although i could be forgetting) but yeah.#need to check comicvine and a few other things to see if my conspiracy theory is at all plausible but like. theres a chance. its not a #preferred actual outcome to me because i find a different one 10000x more compelling but crazy if true to the theory #blah #no this isnt coherent and doesnt make sense. deal.#jessica cruz
