One thing I noticed in the Fanganronpa Wiki page for the Kisaragi Foundation is that Setsuka is referred to as "Former Ultimate Billiards Player", but I'm not sure if that means that she was a member of Hope's Peak's student body before she was blacklisted bc of her cheating, or just an error coming from the wiki's editors.

If I remember, she wasn't actually a Hopes Peak student at all. She was a symbol of Hope who's main ability was focused around billiards but was blacklisted due to her cheating later down the line so she shifted her line of work to detective work. At least that's what I remember... I may be wrong though so if someone wishes to correct me feel free.

Infinite is connected to Solaris

This is gonna be a long one, strap in.

Infinite, Infinite, Infinite. The most recent in-game villain, and the most powerful in recent history as well. Despite being only around 3 years old, he’s become extremely popular. and half of that is because of the song.

Mephiles, Iblis, and Solaris. Villains over 10 years old that haven’t been used since their original game appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)

Or... have they?

Now I want to say before all of this, this all could be coincidences, me being delusional, or something otherwise. It is ONLY a theory, but for something as crazy as I’m claiming I need to preface with this for my own sanity. 

But i’m gonna cut the bullshit. You’re here to see how I am going to bs my way to saying that Infinite the Jackal is connected to a dead god from what is regarded as the worst Sonic game. 

And, like most of these, I need to start with some house cleaning, some things you need to understand.

1. Time Eater is Mephiles

You might have seen me meme about this before...

...But yeah that’s exactly the situation.

I had theorized this before I knew Ian Flynn thought the same thing. Their identical color-schemes, almost identical aesthetic, and completely identical power-set. 

Even the name Time-Eater, that was Mephiles, and Solaris’s goal. To eat time. 

2. Ifrit is Iblis

Now i’m going to assume you have two questions

If Time Eater is Mephiles, than where’s his counterpart, Iblis?

Who the fuck is Ifrit

Long and Short, 

But, more importantly, 

Ifrit is what caused Silver’s Future post Sonic 06.

Ifirit was their retcon for keeping Silver’s future the way it is (even though they defeat it at the end of sonic rivals 2, causing the future to not be that way, hence why Silver was 3 conflicting backstories. Thanks guys.)

So, when it comes to fire demon that destroys the world and causes the future that Silver the hedgehog lives in, that’s a good amount of evidence already, especially with the preface that Mephiles is alive in the form of Time-Eater. If Mephiles was reborn, why wouldn’t also Iblis? and Ifirit is so uncannily similar theres no other candidate.

For you who don’t know, Ifrit’s story ended being re-trapped in it’s pocket dimension with Eggman Nega. 

3. The Phantom Ruby

The Phantom Ruby... Oh, the Phantom Ruby.

A very new addition to Sonic, and yet very important. It was the leading mcguffin of two games, and is made out to be very powerful. 

yes I know that’s a lot up there, but you need to understand the Phantom Ruby to fully understand this theory. 

It’s also very important that Eggman didn’t create the Phantom Ruby as he claims. He created Infinite, not the stone attached to him. Despite there being prototypes, which does confuse me, but from what info we’re given from the wiki the Phantom Ruby seems to have come from Classic Sonic’s universe, even retreating there after the events of Forces. This is also confirmed in Episode Shadow:

Although, Eggman did name it, seemingly on a whim.

~Tangent Time~

Despite being CALLED a Ruby by Eggman, the Phantom Ruby doesn't LOOK like a ruby, despite being magenta.

Rubies CAN be dark even to the point of being Black, but never connected. They’re usually just one shade.

(And don’t you dare say “The chaos emeralds don’t look like emeralds bc they’re not green. They’re all TECHNICALLY emeralds, they’re part of the beryl family, and even if only green beryls are called emeralds, they are all the exact shades of beryl.)

But what the Phantom Ruby DOES look like, is obsidian.

4. Infinite

For those who don’t fully know Infinite’s backstory, it’s expanded upon on the wiki and Rise of Infinite 

Now that we’re all on the same page, lets continue to him now. 

Lovingly referred to as the “Masked Clown.” Infinite goes about the entirety of Sonic Forces revealing nothing of himself, the only things we know about him are from Episode Shadow and Rise of Infinite. We don’t even see his real face in-game. 

Although we have enough to know that his personality changed post Phantom Ruby, it’s even mentioned on the Wiki. Although how much of that change was spurred on by being beat up by a 15 year old, we’ll probably never know. 

Although his goal has always been the same. Starting the planet over as a desolate wasteland. What a fun dude to be around. Probably the life of the party.

5. Connections

(i’m using Mephiles and Time-Eater intermittently, same with Iblis and Ifrit.) 

Alright, now we’re all on the same page. Let’s move on.

I’m going to play a game we’ve played before. I’m going to name something about Infinite or the Phantom Ruby, and add something that’s eerily simmilar to Solaris (Mephiles + Iblis)

All of this Info can be found on the Sonic Wiki

Phantom Ruby: -It is an interdimensional gemstone of incredible power- Ifrit: It is an interdimensional, demonic fire-creature of incredible power- (wow those are, the same description huh)

Infinite: -After Infinite's fusion with the finalized Phantom Ruby prototype, he acquired the ability to generate, destroy, and manipulate virtual realities, which he could turn into virtual reality projections to interact with reality.[32] Said virtual realities are illusions, which Infinite creates by exercising control of one's visual and depth perception by feeding the brain false information- Ifrit: -Described as capable of binding one's soul, the Ifrit can enslave others with powerful mind control powers.- -Ifrit, which manages to use some kind of mind control on Sonic and/or Tails (or Knuckles and/or Rouge, depending on which team the player is controlling), but is defeated by the other teams, and is destroyed.-

Now you might have noticed that the Ifrit-Infinite connections seemed to fit just a bit more-Maybe it was just me- even down to the Phantom Ruby and Ifrit’s OPENING DESCRIPTION being almost copy/paste, which i’m still amazed at.

This get’s to the next part of my theory.

6. Where are they (Mephiles/Iblis) now?

Welcome to~ where are they now!

Mephiles, or Time-Eater, So far is undocumented. It’s said they were “Destoryed” at the end of Sonic Generations, but for all we know it was just the machine additions, and Mephiles was “destoryed” over 10 years ago and he started kicking again.

Iblis, or Ifrit, was locked in it’s own pocket dimention along with Nega, and hasn’t been seen since...or have they?

haha that’s a callback! Do you remember the beginning of this post or is it too mindbogglingly long for your brain to comprehend in one sitting? 

7. The Phantom Ruby is Iblis/Ifrit

let’s talk about the power set of the Phantom Ruby. Interdimentional, very powerful, capable of some kind of mind fuckery.

Ifrit is, Interdimentional, very powerful, capable of some kind of mind fuckery, immortal and is constantly on fire,

You may be wondering about this “Fire” thing. “Solaris was a sun god and infinite has no connection-” WRONG! 

sorry that was forceful.

Infinite used a very specific and strange method to destroy the planet. He made an illusion of the sun, and set it on the planet. Out of all the methods, and interesting choice to be sure. But not for a sun god.

also: “What I find in the ashes, you lose in the fire”

“What are you saying you dumb bitch?” You might be thinking. First of all, rude, second of all, I’m saying that the power inside the Phantom Ruby IS Iblis/Ifrit, hence their connection.

Before I get to timeline and other stuff, some minor things:

The decision to have Infinite take on specifically Silver, and showing Silver being able to withstand a fight against him for a good amount of time, as well as giving them a minor repertoire, which no other seemingly “unconnected” Resistance Fighters get. 

the name “Infinite” fitting the naming scheme if “Iblis and Ifrit” and you know how this franchise is about naming schemes.

Now, where we last left Ifrit he was trapped in a pocket dimension with Nega. 

Where we first find the Phantom Ruby is “In Sonic Mania, the Phantom Ruby appeared on Angel Island after a dimensional breach occurred in the atmosphere.” (via sonic wiki)

Now, it is kinda hard to connect those two lines, but the dimensional causation is there. 

(I could add an ENTIRE subsection of me trying to connected Mephiles to the time-traveling nature of Little Planet, therefore connecting Solaris to Classic Sonic’s world ((and “fun is infinite)) but this theory doesn’t need to be any longer and I cannot physically do any more research.) 

it’s possible Ifrit would be trapped, Mephiles was trapped in the Scepter of Darkness, so it’s more possible than impossible. 

But, Imma be fully honest with you guys, Most of this is because of the song.

If you haven’t heard “Infinite”, What is wrong with you. Go listen to it. Oh my god. 

But, some of the lyrics, don’t totally make sense knowing Infinite’s backstory. But it makes more sense seeing through the lens of the added Ifrit influence.

“And after all this time you're back for more“ (If talking about Shadow, it wasn’t a “long time” inbetween Infinite’s defeat and his rise. And Infinite has no stated relationship with Sonic. However, Solaris and subsequently, Iblis, do.) “When everything you know has come and gone“ “But that's what it takes to be infinite“

Even the name “Infinite.”

He chose that name after fusing to the Phantom Ruby and “ABAndoNiNg hIS pAsT SeLf” 

But, the Phantom Ruby has no connotations of immortality. None specified. it’s possible it’s power could be used to trick the user into immortality, but it’s never specified. You’d think he’d be called “Phantom” or, even, “Zero” (his working-and possibly true-name) But no. Infinite.

Now, think back to the connections earlier, and the info I took from Solaris’s wiki.

“Omnipresent throughout time and space”

Sounds pretty “Infinite” to me.

Am I saying Infinite is the new Iblis Trigger? Yes.

Region Mags

Region Mags are regular installations across the world map that grant various boosts to players when fed.

Each Region Mag grants its own unique ship-wide boost, in addition to a rare drop rate boost to individual players that feed it enough.

These boosts are only active per region, so if the Aelio Region Mags are starved, it will not affect Retem. Similarly, feeding Retem Region Mags will not affect Aelio.

R Mag Boost [All]

Also referred to as the “Full Stomach Bonus” in the overview, this is a bonus granted to all players for 24 hours upon being fed enough.

If a certain Region Mag’s Full Stomach Bonus isn’t active, it will be marked on the map as asleep.

In order to make it easier to re-activate the Full Stomach Bonus, a sleeping Region Mag will gain more points from wish list items.

It currently takes a combined total of 1,350,000 points across all players to activate the Full Stomach Bonus.

Each Region Mag has its own Full Stomach Bonus, and point totals are not shared, so feeding an awake Region Mag will not contribute to waking up another one.

R Mag Boost [Personal]

A boost to your drop rate, based on how many points you've contributed to Region Mags. It has three levels.

Level 1 - 100 points - 3% Drop Rate Up

Level 2 - 200 points - 9% Drop Rate Up

Level 3 - 400 points - 20% Drop Rate Up

Upon activation, the personal boost will last for two hours and the duration cannot be refreshed until it is activated again.

Activating a higher level of the boost will not refresh the timer.

Even if you insert thousands of points worth of items into a Region Mag, the boost will only go up to a max of level 3 with a two hour duration, so be careful.

Wish List

Each Region Mag has a Wish List of items that rotates daily - a specific item (+200%) and a general category (+50%).

These boosts are multiplied further if the Region Mag's Full Stomach Boost isn't active, meaning a specific item can have triple or quadruple its normal value.

Along the same vein, what do you think of the relationship between the unknown god and Kaenri'ah? In Albedo's trailer they seemed to reference two new elements (time and being) and if perhaps the unknown god is the god of time, then does Khemia make use of "being" in its creation of life?

In Mihoyo's other game (honkai) they introduced a new "type" about halfway through the story which seems to me to be similar to the abyss in Genshin. The quanta type is independent of the three types that were present from the beginning of the game and it's tied to an abyss style region called the Sea of Quanta. Maybe I'm reading too much into it and they don't plan to imitate what they did in Honkai but?? Time and being as new "elements" introduced a few years into the game seems possible at least?? Maybe they're exclusive to delusions bc there's only the seven Archons at this time so no one can grant time/being visions lol

Major spoilers for Khaenri’ah and minor spoilers for the unknown god

:DD I’m glad you read my word vomit haha. I love talking about lore so much, ty for enabling me. 

What do you think of the relationship between the unknown god and Khaenri’ah?

The logical side of my brain thinks:

They either have nothing to do with each other and Mihoyo really likes using the same star for everything and Khaenri’ah just happens to live in the void or sky so the easiest way to distinguish citizens from there is the star (or it was just hot to put star pupils in and you know what, they were right). 

Or there’s some sort of connection between the Eclipse dynasty that ruined Khaenri’ah and the unknown god. Since genshin really likes to do that (see Zhongli and everyone calling him Morax before 1.1 dropped). 

Re-watching the prologue cutscene and “we will be reunited” (Gonna refer to this a WWBR) Aether drew the same two stars into the sand which makes me believe that either a. stars literally have nothing to do with anything and Teyvat only knows how to draw one star (which doesn’t hold up well considering Mona’s outfit and pin) or b. there’s some kind of connection there. The way Paimon phrases her question she says: 

“But when you wanted to leave and go onto the next world your path was blocked by an unknown god?”

It implies that Aether and Lumine have already travelled through Teyvat since we see two yellow stars travel over Liyue and Mondstadt. I know Aether was sent into some sort of deep sleep and only now awoke and met Paimon (since in the trailer we can see the lantern festival and the genshin upload was in march (chinese new year is in feb) but I’m not super sure on these details but I’m pretty sure it’s canon that this happened based on WWBR). 

Then when the unknown god appears and the same 3 red stars appear [tumblr throws a fit when I try and upload this]

She refers to us as Outlanders and calls herself 

“The sustainer of heavenly principles. The arrogation of mankind ends now.”

This could be a reference to “being” that was in the Albedo trailer while Dainsleif is “time” since time is "not something he lacks". If we’re going on the theory that Dainsleif is actually a god then maybe they are fighting? Or in some type of push and pull war. It would make sense since the Unknown God believes in heavenly principles (so the rules either set by Celestia or Gods themselves) and believes mankind is arrogant and wishes to either destroy it or remove it entirely. The complete opposite of Dainsleif who believes in mankind and hates anything relating to the Archons.

Or dainsleif has nothing to do with the unknown god and is just a final challenge to the player who will then face off against the Unknown God.

In this theory, this would make the Unknown God the god of time, which is also equally as valid. Since she does talk about time and how the arrogation of mankind ends now. I think it’s right to assume that Khemia makes use of being in its creation of life since we see Albedo talk about chalk and turning things from “nothing” (it’s not really nothing, he’s still using something or the “being” in order to transform it) to something. 

If Dainsleif uses Khemia or even created it then taught it to the people of Khaenri’ah to help them survive in their archonless land, that could be a valid reason why he believes in the strength of mankind. Since the unknown god’s power seems to consume the person trapped within (as we see in the prologue). Plus in WWBR we see first hand how destructive that power is. This could also be the time where Dainsleif lost faith or hated the celestial beings.

In WWBR, according to the wiki it states that our sibling was taken to another point in time, in an unknown location. But this event leads the sibling (Lumine) to become the leader of the Abyss Order. 

Lumine says: 

“But until the abyss has engulfed the thrones, my war with destiny will see no end.”

Lumine seems to know about the archons and the abyss mages follow her so it’s safe to assume that the “abyss” she refers to is either something entirely new or the red blocks we see here. It seems as if she’s trying to change destiny which could be why Dainsleif wants to save her. 

I will say right now, I really hope the theory that Paimon is secretly the unknown god doesn’t come true. I know it’s funny and I would enjoy seeing our emergency food pull a turned table on us but unless there are more instances where it’s hinted or it’s handled really well I would not like it. I just finished a manga and I felt like I was watching 20M plot twists happen in the span of 3 pages. I would totally be okay if the unknown god and paimon were somehow related (I can understand that) but I unless it’s handed really well or as the story progresses and we get more info on paimon. it would just be really out of left field. I haven’t seen any theories on this and I honestly try and stay away from lore posts until I’ve finished mine because I feel that might make my ideas biased.

The “everything must be connected into some kind of plotline or I will make it a plotline” brain thinks:

Now, this is just be spit balling and making up my own headcanons with no lore to go off on. This is pure indulgent stuff with no research to back it up besides very loose threads. 

I’d like to believe that since the Eclipse Dynasty was the last dynasty before Khaenri’ah fell. That might be what is being depicting above in WWBR. Perhaps khemia backfired or the unknown god turned against the people for their arrogance (I’m not sure if people know the myth but in short terms, a giant stole fire to help the people who were cold. He was punished for going against the gods and saving the people, this could be similar to Dainsleif). 

Perhaps Lumine and Aether had stopped this event from happening and as they were about to leave, the unknown god appears and separates them for their arrogant actions against the Gods and sends Lumine back to the past. Without her brother she ended up failing in saving Khaenri’ah. Or, the image we see is actually the future and she goes back in time to try and prevent that event from occurring, still trying to beat destiny but this time in the future. 

Or another idea, Lumine has only seen the evil that’s depicted and hasn’t personally met any of the archons. We actually got to meet Venti and Zhongli so we obviously want to protect them from Lumine’s point of view, that might not be the same so she aligns with the abyss order that tries to control Dvalin. So her goal is to somehow defeat the archons and that could be why the Cyro archon is trying to collect them all in her war of peace. 

Honkai and quanta

It’s kinda funny but there’s no reliable wiki source for this sea of quanta like there is for genshin, or at least I couldn’t find anything. I think they might nod at certain things between the two but I think it’s totally fine to believe they might do some sort of crossover and take some inspiration. We have Mona who was able to read the stars and Scaramouche who said the sky was a giant hoax so I think time and being becoming new elements is very possible. But I don’t really know a lot about Honkai so I can’t really say too much about it haha.

OKAY so the biggest and probably most obvious one is the colours!! by which i mean: the dark backgrounds are things that didn't happen while the light ones were memories!! so much of this fic was me colour coding shit and hoping it made sense lol also on the colour thing i only used red text for like. big moments

uhhhhh what else. pretty much everyone mentioned during the interlude sequences for the vault are either ffs shadows players or ffs npcs (carlos and mrs weatherspoon are two of my favourite grand siesta npcs we made and zion is zion punchface, ty is tyler leatherman who are both og shadows, and tucker is tucker thane who was our s17 playoff birth)

um the purple brackets in the desert are mx chicago fun fact little fact just for me :)

“Yeah? Well, when do I get to see that 7 foot vertical leap then?” “They got that wrong, you know.” “Oh?” “It's 8 feet.”

is a reference to edric's wiki page that i think about far too much. also the spirit of violence stuff is like og s3 wiki lore where we said (with agreement with the tigers) that edric, paula, and josh recieved part of landry when they got hit with performance enhancing demons and i think about it so much especially bc we subsequently lost all of them

for the aus i really tried to still stick to the actual dates of those seasons and stuff so like for the hall rivers really did pitch both the game that josh died and the one kirby came back in and it kills me so much. oh, and the figure who materializes next to edric at the end of the hall sequence is cedric gonzales :)

oooo okay here's another one: the first bit of the edric drowning bit is an expanded scene that was mentioned in light that shines! and the edric and atlas scene in the middle of the horizon section was actually taken from a prequel to that fic that i was working on all the way back in feb, just rewritten a little!!

i knew the whole fic was leading to edric missing the funeral; to me, it was always gonna be the pivotal moment. that's why you see so many little references to it scattered through, but the part where we revisit his dad's funeral is probably my favourite callback in the whole thing– it's just these two moments juxtaposed 60 years apart and i'm very proud of it.

i love using actual game text in my stuff and there's a couple examples of that here: loot quotes for the opening and end mainly! also this is one fun thing for me but all the bon ever quotes are from songs i was listening to a lot while writing those sections (i listened to a lot of bon ever writing this thing oops)

I see why events are such a drain on sp now. yukis design for this event tho slaps whenever he showed up in practice it put a smile on my face! also I feel like I’ve been super super lucky w/ gacha? like I’ve gotten at least 1 ssr everytime I’ve like done a pull for cards... the event is fun though! definitely adds a lot more incentive to keep up with doing the practices and stuff now that I have classes again lol

I joined a3 when the english server just started so it took about one? two months? for the first event to happen (and then they didn’t stop coming and they don’t stop coming and they do-) and i remember how, before that, i felt like the SP weren’t especially to use a lot, aside from doing your dailies and getting the first clear missions, you don’t need them THAT much, and then the events came around and proved me that alas, SP are useful and you’ll cry for them.

Yuki’s design is so so good!! he looks so amazing it’s so good aaah

and ooh :O i do wonder if there’s an ssr rate up for new players tbh, my luck has pretty much ran out in EN server lol but i recently joined the JPN server (which is faaar ahead of us) and i do get goodies much more easily... Still i hope this luck will carry through!! SSR SSR SSR.......

Glad you’re enjoying the events though!! it does make you more interreacting with the game than you do normally and ahah that sure helps keeping up with the practices! hope you’ll get toons of xp from it ;O  (and tbh doing mindless A3 while working on class works pretty well for me dLFKDJ since it’s rather low focus-energy for the events it can turn in the back while i’m studying)

for now it might be too early because you need lots of cards and leveling up materials, but the thing with events is that if you probably would rather limit your SP use per representation. 

I’ll put some tips between the cut but also i am talking about more gameplay stuff that often requires having a certain amount of characters or leveling up material: so you don’t have to worry too hard about it, but it’s a guideline for the future.

You will want:

IF You have Event Cards:

-Event Cards, hopefully fully leveled up or trained.Even the R brings some boost during event though check  if the boost is worth it. SR and SSR are definitly worth it

-if you have event cards, put them as the leader of your team (according to the type of the card, for exemple current SSR Omi is Drama so you need to set him as lead in your Drama team), as it is the card that ends up showing up in the “support” screen.

-If you have a R as leader (with no SR/SSR cards that could take their place) you’ll be better off setting a team in the “Team 4/5″ slot that is the team you intend to use for full power. R as leader tends to bring your power down, so this is the way to both keep your R as leader to help others while also keeping your own fire power.

-Note that Event cards from Gacha are more powerful for the events that are the cards you can get in rankin up.

-Birthday cards’s stats seem lower than event cards when you see them in the list but they can also have a little more impact on your result, so they’re still very good to have. or check out.

-You’re not obligated at all to have event cards to do well in an event, but the SP use will be drastically different. I remember an event where i had every gacha cards bloomed once and even when it was at its worst, i never had to spend more than 2 SP for an Encore. Meanwhile while lacking event cards it can easily go up to 5 SP or more for an Encore. So it depends on which events you want to invest. on the long term you’ll want to check the event lists and see which are the cards/characters you want (keeping in mind all of them come with a backstage story you can’t read otherwise), and ranking up can deserve at least one attempt at pulling the event gacha.

IN GENERAL:

-On the long term you will want to fully level up all of your SR and SSR cards, bloom them when you can, and eventually train them (this later takes a lot of materials so it’s not your priority). The best bet to do that are Yuzo cards bc manual leveling up is hell. (note that event cards have higher raw stats than the base cards too)

-To try to maximize your points, once you have enough cards (i’d say at least one SR or SSR of each character) your life savior would be to use Link Skills. those are specific combos that multiply your total points by a certain percentage. They’re different for each categories, but it helps. At the bottom of the page, you’ll see an optimal link option for each character. 

-When you are playing an event and you don’t have any event cards, you will want to build your team around which is the main support card you’ll find, in the best case scenario with the Optimal Link Option. For exemple: Drama Omi.

if you can combo all of them you will have an optimal %. The wiki show you in the “Optimal” screen what is the best team when you’re looking for combos around only one specific card.

-If you have an event card, especially if you have more than one/a different one than the support one, you will want to build your team manually by looking at both event characters you have (or more) and see how you can build your team to maximize their combo while keeping the event boost

-I’m already talking about more high level stuff but if you already want to start using links, if you have enough cards for that, focus on leveling up cards that you can use for the Links in priority. (note that it’s always a priority to level up your event cards tho bc other people will use them)

-On the long term when you will have multiple cards for each character, do take the time to check which card is best. For exemple if you want a link with say, Citron in Drama, but you have a comedy Citron and an Action Citron, compare their drama’s stats to see which is the highest and the one you’d rather use.

About the Shows themselves:

-The least time you have for a show, the more points you will gain for doing them. if you need to discard some shows, it’s best to discard those which will take the longest time

-Ideally you’d want to keep your kamebuns for the Encore, since they cost a lot of SP and they always happen after you already used some before that.

-Note that if you use your SP on a play that will fail, you will be able to continue this specific show and spend more SP on it. FOR EXEMPLE: if, especially for an Encore, it still says you will “fail” the play after using 5 SP, you can use 5 SP, look at the “failed” screen, and then go back to the preparing show screen and use more SP to try to get the points missing for you.  Obviously this is really SP consumming so you don’t have to do that, but it’s good to know it’s a possibility. (on the JPN server, when i just arrived i tried participating to events with very low cards. I had to use 11 SP for one Encore. Never again.)

OUTSIDE OF THE SHOWs:

-You can pause the Practice Lesson anytime you want. if you go on Menu>Pause, it’ll bring you back to your homescreen. It means that the lesson will not trigger more event show, ultimately sparing your SP while waiting for them to refill.

-However during the pauses you cannot access any others lessons.

-BUT!! you can also just QUIT the lesson room from the same menu. If you still haven’t maxed the flairs and the crowns, you will lose any progress made during the lesson, but if they’re both maxed, you should be okay? i THINK the progress made on the rank XP doesn’t get lost. Though any progress in leveling up the affections of some cards will be.

NOW IN GENERAL: 

-If you want to rank up you will have to use diamonds.Honestly it’s best preparing yourself in advance if you think you’ll rank up for an event. But for now that’s really too early for you, unless you aim for the SR.

-especially early on what you will want is just clearing the flairs and crowns (free diamonds and the dialogues, that are all saved in the Mini Chat tab in the story mode), and especially unlocking the event story. (in this event, it will take reaching 700 points to unlock all of the story, take it easy, you will get it cleared with no problem, since it’s generally the “lowest investment” reward. Note tho that the point system is different from Seasonal events (like the Valentine day event is) and the Play Events)

-All i said are more long term things, see if you can/want to apply them early on.

-Right and there’s the bentos: you will want to aim for them, as you can only use them during the limit of the events. You will do best to use them outside of the events to rank up to unlock chapters. Note tho that, especially at low level, it means you’ll level up quite fast, which will refill your LP and SP, so once you level up you can go back to events to clear your SP and then come back to grinding.

-if i’m not mistaken, i was about level 56 when i unlocked all of the chapters from the first act (ie, up to the end of chap 4 : Once more with feelings). For reference’s sake, when i started playing the JPN vers recently and used that trick of using the bentos to unlock stuff, i leveled up a lot pretty quickly. I think it took me 2 weeks to get to level 56 without events on the EN server but it took me far less in JPN server while using the event’s bentos to my advantage

i hope it’s not too confusing? it’s not something you have to think too hard about just now, but it may help you out on the long term.

hey what was the point of civil war? like, as a movie fitting into the larger narrative of the marvel movies (and also as a standalone film) what was the point of civil war? was it just for marvel to say that they did the civil war plotline? bucky’s arc, maybe? it made this whole big deal out of the sokovia accords (?) and split everyone apart only to (in terms of the movies all the avengers appeared in) bring them back together immediately thereafter in infinity war, the stakes of which completely negated any conversation about the accords or meaningful reflection about their fallout like

what was the point of civil war??

(breaking this down further bc I can) the movies released between civil war and infinity war were:

doctor strange (which, to be fair, I did not see, but i’m like, 90% sure it doesn’t have any of the major avengers in it or deal with the accords)

having just read the wiki page, it does not appear that the events of civil war are mentioned in any way

guardians of the galaxy 2

is in no way connected to any of the plot points from civil war

This time including the squad as DnD characters, Liz facts, Noelle getting her yaoi education, and more

I’ve only played Dungeons & Dragons once (1) in my life so I’m no expert! I’d consider my thoughts suggestions (like with my takes on the charaters’ MBTI types, which I’m not an expert of either): 

Noelle as a Wizard sounds right, since she definitely can’t do anything reliant on physical strength. She would be an asshole and attempt things like building a Clone Army

AKARSHA THE BARD. Rogue sounds too cool for her

Diya: I actually want to say she’s a Ranger because the Wiki on 5th edition says “The Beast Master archetype forges a connection between civilization and beasts, allowing the character to interact with animals in certain ways including gaining an animal companion to control.“ Fighter and Knight also sound plausible though! 

Min: Barbarian with high Strength and no Intelligence and Wisdom

I don’t want to say too much because I want to save things for the sequel, but here’s some stuff:

She actually played against Diya in youth leagues before she transitioned. That’s why she recognizes Diya+specifically approached her to sign the baseball club form while Diya doesn’t recognize her. At the first club meeting Liz tells her “I was at one of your games when you were little” -- This is purposefully ambiguous/misleading (sounds like Liz was just watching) because she passes and doesn’t want to out herself to a bunch of club members she doesn’t know well

After transitioning she quit baseball and switched to softball. It was weird being the one trans girl on a team of cis dudes, and additionally when she was younger she sort of felt like she had to prove she was a girl; she naturally has feminine taste, but she’d overperform it by 25%. It wasn’t until she got close to Chryssa and found out she also liked baseball that she reclaimed her interest in it

She has a nice resting face so strangers tend to ask her for directions

Akarsha was reading some yaoi so it came up in conversation, and since Noelle had never heard of it Akarsha gleefully educated her (to Noelle’s horror). Noelle was extremely scandalized that Akarsha kept sending her inappropriate images, and Akarsha was like “i’m doing this out of the kindness of my heart! it’s for ur education!! me: Master Teacher. call me sensei”  

Following this Akarsha changed her chat name to YAOI SEME as seen at the beginning of the game

I was planning on making the sprites blink! I’m still a bit sad I didn’t end up doing it

It’s supposed to be fall 2008 when they’re in high school, but I took a LOT of artistic liberties when it came to the references. For example, Akarsha makes a Durarara reference even though the anime didn’t come out until 2010, and there’s a lot of modern memes that ended up in there too...I couldn’t hold back...

The IGF trailer video is especially modern-day meme-wise -- since it broke the 4th wall, it was like, all bets are off. Don’t think too hard about it!

I wanted to put a lot of 90s and early 00s hits in the game for the nostalgia factor, like Complicated, Rock Your Body, Dilemma, etc. I think it would’ve made the experience even more surreal for players who are around my age!

yep! it's made in renpy! I actually started out in twine -- twine is impossible if your game is like longer than an hour and is image heavy. the engine started lagging so bad it would take 30 secs to do anything

LOL it's hard..it's a lot of money. I don't think I would

(but you could use that money to save many more lives! utilitarianism)

hmm...i honestly sucked at this and could only work on it on breaks lol...if you can try to work it into your school projects, like some bit of it...

other than that i cant think of anything LOL it's hard

12. How did you organize yourself making such a long game? Any tips? 

it was SUPER hard to organize, i was really lost until i split it into 4 sections with each character. so if you're planning on making a game this big definitely think about forcing yourself into sections like that

the art was the most confusing to do bc of how many assets there were. i was going to say "have consistent naming conventions" but that's literally impossible LOL it'll always become inconsistent no matter how hard u try

13. What part of the game took the longest (writing? art?) 

writing, actually, despite how much i complain about art assets. it's really hard making sure the structure and themes come across correctly. like pacing is so hard. art is like #2 biggest time sink

14. How early in did you write the Akarsha/Min skateboard scene?

that came pretty late haha i put it in at last second

15. Are the characters based on real people? 

they're all inspired by combinations of ppl i know! i wouldn't say based on them, tho. for example min is like a combination of 3 friends i have, strategically arranged to play her part in the story

character design is design so u still gotta be deliberate about it

16. Who’s the other cat on the computer? (they’re referring to the cat on my desktop wallpaper) 

that one's maru! he's a famous japaense cat. he's super photogenic

definitely getting to put specific Asian-American experiences into it

18. Any writing advice? 

definitely have other people beta your writing as soon as possible! they always catch stuff you missed. also this is like a cheat, make your characters really extreme. like find one aspect of yourself, and turn it up to 11 and make it into a character. that way they'll be relatable and memorable at the same time. i think most people don't make their characters extreme enough so they're all kinda samey

i wanna add on but it got kinda long so ill put a cut. i spent way too long on this (> an hour) and its a bit messy but i gotta stop addin to it

i do think the game continues without the player, but im not sure to what extent, and im not sure if its specifically stated. sans mentions timelines keep resetting even if you havent reset the game at all. i think this could mean either: 1. sans is aware of all timelines, but cant distinguish between the resets of a single player in all the resets hes aware of, 2. the game does continue without the player, as in frisk and/or the monsters run around the underground without you, but loading a save counts as a reset, or 3. (my personal fav) the game continues past the [neutral/pacifist] endings, but if you load a save/reset after the game has ended, sans knows this and just has to deal with that..

i do agree that sans and gaster may have worked together in some form. gaster is an enigma, we know next to nothing about him or sans for that matter (it honestly reminds me of spamton, but im not sure if i really have a point there). we do know that gaster was the previous royal scientist before alphys, and that he fell into the core which seemingly erased his existence from the minds of everyone in the underground (link for W.D. Gaster's wiki page, where this is mentioned). sans uses weapons called "gaster blasters" (thats its sprite name), and has a workshop (wiki link) where you can find a broken machine, blue prints, and two accessible drawers (+2 inaccessible ones).

its hard to tell what the machine is bc its covered, and the blueprints are also apparently hard to read, being written in symbols (wingdings are symbols rather than letters). it can be made out that the prints are for a machine though, so something has to be legible there. interesting point: alphys is also said to have bad handwriting, and was theoretically a scientist along with gaster. im either thinking it was sans, gasty, and alph that wrote the prints, or it was just sans, and they all got shit handwriting lol.

moving on to the drawers, one just contains a badge, maybe a lab id, but thats it. the other one is far more interesting, the contents change depending on things the player did, im just going to list all of it; a photo album with pictures a happy sans with of people the player doesnt recognize (always shows), a photo of you and all the friends youve made in the underground (after the pacifist ending), and most interestingly, a photo of '3 poorly drawn, smiling people with the words "dont forget" write in lowercase' (only found in a later update, after the player talks to clam girl and learns of a character names suzy). who the people are is up for debate, we got no descriptors, but we do know two things. 'dont forget' is deltarune's ending theme, and sans always talks in lowercase.

so i do think the two worked together, and i also think you got a point with the splash zone thing. sans and papyrus dont really have a background, the snowdin shop keep mentions they just kinda showed up to snowdin one day, no explanation:

this might be a stretch, but it could be bc no one remembers that about them. i personally like to think gaster was apart of the skeletons' family somehow, and gaster falling into the core fucked his family up as well. comic sans, papyrus, and wingdings are all fonts used by the three characters, there was a cut song named grandpa semi (mentioned on gaster's wiki, also the brothers are apart of the serif font family), and toby tweeted early concept art for pap (link goes to tweet) thats mentions he "has a brother named comic sans" "and a ___ named ___" in redacted text. i do also wanna point out, 'times new roman' (nother font) also appears on the paper; it may have been just what came mind before papyrus (there is a note to the side, in all caps, like how pap speaks referring to the name as a parental figure) but its not redacted like whoever the other note mentions is, its just crossed out, but still readable. there is also a redacted character sprite in a test room that only says "redacted" in wingdings when spoken to (also mentioned on gasty's wiki)..

it may also prove interesting to bring up; there are two entry number 17s for the true labs section, both are inaccesable in game. one appears to belong to alphys, where she states how monsters cannot handle determination like humans can, and that monsters with too much of it results in the amalgams. the second is entirely in uppercase wingdings, and it reads as follows:

i like thinking that^ refers to deltarune, connection made in the beginning. sans always wants to go back to something, and my original thought was back to the world of deltarune or even the dark world. hell, there may end up being truth in that, well have to wait and see, but for now i just say he wants to go back before the core incident, back where all those friends of his were. he wants to go back to where he was happy.

gaster however, seems to want to go forward. hes described as brilliant (by his followers), he created the core, hes persisted even thought he fell into the core and was "shattered across time and space" (again, said by a gaster follower), and now whats he up to? he talks about darkness growing, which is the main plot of deltarune..

that also brings up a similar question weve had before, who are the two people gaster is asking opinions of? does that mean gaster was in sans' picture, meaning it might refer to sans and alphys? or could it be the player and vessel of deltarune?

it seems like were just gonna have to wait and find out, unless the skeletons are end up a big joke about internet theories and all that, haha god i hope not

Broke: kris hates the player character, is depressed and feels like a puppet on a string

Woke: kris and the player are both 2 halves of a single brain cell and they opened a dark fountain just to keep the player coming back

ok so basically I think the player is keeping Kris alive, which is why Kris puts the soul back in after taking it out and why they move like that. But like... if there's no problem to solve, no game to play... then the player does not open the game, and does not control Kris. SO. kris has to keep making problems to make sure the world is interesting enough for the player so that the player keeps them alive until they can finally get rid of the player.

either that OR kris is possibly aware of when the game shuts down. i think this might b because i remember sans saying something in undertale about how he FEELS it when the game resets. he remembers. but then again he also said that like... when you weren't playing the game it continued...? which is why resetting and opening a new game after completing pacifist to do genocide is the worst thing you could do. if someone could provide evidence tho id appreciate it bc all my memories from undertale are years old.
