I adore all your art with cookie and was interested in Sapphicworld- but I’m curious (so plz don’t take this as a negative-) what exactly in your opinion sets it apart from other Queer PBTA hacks like Thirsty Sword Lesbians?

I���d just really like to hear your thoughts about it as a system and world especially given you are a indie developer yourself?

so, a few caveats before i start off — one, i actually haven't played many other pbta games (like for example i know Of thirsty sword lesbians + own a copy that i've poked around in but im not very familiar w it), so i honestly can't provide much in the way of comparing/contrasting it w other pbta stuff in the same vein, and my impressions of sapphicworld are pretty much just contained to the game as its own thing, not so much sapphicworld as a Type Of Game

and two, while i am a dev myself, i'm a huge novice! like, i'm proud of the stuff i put out and i love doing it, but i personally feel like my lack of experience is such that like, i don't think my opinions in this case are particularly informed by my own work as a dev or anything. all this to say im happy to answer this question, i think i just gotta tackle it from a different frame than what ur specifically asking!

BUT ANYWAY. i can still talk abt why im so excited abt sapphicworld in a way that has kind of outstripped other stuff in general, and for me it's about the world 100%. like i honestly spend close to no time thinking abt the fact that sw is even pbta to be honest. not that the mechanics + gameplay aren't important, bc they are thoughtfully crafted and well done and fun, and i'm saying that from the perspective of someone who playtested earlier versions that have now been reworked! it's just like, not what comes to mind first for me — what's exciting and fresh and irreplaceable abt the game in my mind is like. it is fully committed to immersing you in an extremely lush, strange, richly fleshed out world, one with a long history and folklore/mythology and a TON of really fun npcs who all have different subcultures and its own calendar with seasonal holidays and regional terrain with specific fleshed out dungeons/towns/etc to discover and even like, specific FOODS typical to each different region and and and and —

and maybe at first that seems kind of overwhelming, and tbh it is. when i first got into it and i was going thru the playtest document (which if im remembering right was like. ~300 pages shorter at the time than the current playtest doc) i DO remember anxiously thinking to myself "god this is a LOT and idk if i'll be able to retain enough of this to rp convincingly" etc etc. but like... it's just really compelling, and it does an incredible job of mixing humor and gravity and horniness in a perfect ratio that always comes across as intensely earnest and makes it equally easy to have a fun goofy time or a really emotional time, which i think is REALLY hard to do.

and while normally it's hard for me to get thru something that dense and long all i can really say is that i just straight up like it enough and was charmed by it enough to pick away at it until i grasped it and felt like i understood a bunch about the world, which also has a curve to it bc in structure and tone its very different from any of your... idk more Standard fantasy or sci fi worldbuilding, so it's not like u can immediately slot in ur expectations from other settings and just learn some new vocab words, it's a world that from my perspective also Functions differently than a lot of other fictional settings in a way that's a little hard to describe succinctly. (none of this is succinct to begin with but ykwim). it makes me want to gm my own campaign, really really bad, when usually i have always been absolutely Terrified of the idea of gming! idk man. it has a Flavor. it's full of Vapors. u get transported somewhere else reading it and playing it in a way i haven't experienced in a while and a lot of times after a playtest session i felt like my brain stayed behind in sapphicworld for a pretty long time.

i feel like i am sounding a little melodramatic and incoherent but like. genuinely sapphicworld is just a fictional world that i am really bone-deep charmed by and interested in and when i WAS reading thru the rulebook for those first days it did not take me long at all to find myself constantly thinking "i want to play in this world, i want to play in this world, i can't wait to play in this world," and i just think that's really special. and like — just as your curiosity abt comparing sw to tsl was not intended as a diss or a negative, what im abt to say is similarly neutral — im a person who sometimes finds it a little difficult to click with or feel excited abt a lot of the Queer Indie Stuff that i see get popular with other people, bc it just doesn't connect w my specific lesbian + trans experience; not that it feels inauthentic but that im like, oh, idk, i think these guys are just. not My Zone, ykwim. on the flip side so much of the humor and heart and transness and sex in sapphicworld is something that really resonates w me and just Clicks in a way that i have also found really special.

rounding myself off before i ramble for like five more paragraphs but just as one more morsel of something i like abt sapphicworld that is a little more concrete than me spinning around the room yelling "I JUST LIKE IT OKAY": one of the most fun parts of character creation is getting to mix and match your kind (sort of like ancestry/species, the form ur physical body takes) with a subculture. so u get things like a werewolf babe (cookie! babe being a subculture that focuses on being Like, Totally Hot), or a centaur knight, or a minotaur debaucher, or a vampire cowboy, or an organist (cthulu-y tentacle guy) scenester, or a skeleton wizard, etc etc etc etc — there are SO MANY to pick from that when i was trying to bait my friends into playing w me i couldn't find a convenient way to list them all so ppl could start thinking abt their characters. and every possible combination basically is interesting and amusing and fun and practically THROWS a great oc into your lap and i literally think i could amuse myself endlessly just Making Characters in sapphicworld and never actually playing w them.

[panting, disheveled] so tldr. i like it. uh. what sets sapphicworld apart from other ttrpgs to me is that i have fallen balls to the wall in love with the very soul of it to the point where i don't even really think about it in comparison to other games at all and it has just become an Experience to me and i suppose i cannot guarantee anyone else will fall into insane homosexual hysteria in the same way but here we are. HOPE THAT HELPS

I have no one to tell this too so im gonna tell this to you, since your my favorite author and i love talking with you. I have an idea for an ARG series, and i wanna take it out but i wanna wait till im older at the same time. Cause i dont fully know how to make an ARG but i feel like the concept i have, id love to do. And i have the ideas and i write them down. Or like mostly the concept of it. But it has some cool factors of where the people can see the character at the start and finish of it. The ARG itself is depending on people who watch or view the content though. Or like what they do because certain things will impact the series/characters and the endings. Not only that but people also get to view things because if i ever do end up doing it, the character has a diary. Its about mostly normal stuff at first but as the series goes on and what happens to the main character the diary gets more. Offhanded…. In a way. And like in the background of like the series or in certain things of it itd have chapters/page numebrs/pages that people would be able to find from like a wattpad book where they can actually read what the pages says. Since the only thing about the pages that will be readable will the the chapter/number/date/title. And itd correspond with the chapters and stuff on wattpad as theyd be titled that or with those stuff. Theyd get to see what the character wrote down and it also fits into what happens in the like episode. Itd fit in for the overall series as theyd get to see what slowly happens to the character and their thoughs. Itd be a depressing series though. Got tons of ideas for it!!!!

That sounds amazing! As someone who wants to keep creating, I say go for it whenever you have the time. Practice making, watch tutorials on how to make it so you could learn and grow with your creation! Make it in different sequences, make it in a non chronological order based on scenes you really want to do, it's your choice! That's the beauty of it all! You get to choose the progress you're making. And the best of all, no one can tell you otherwise bc it's yours! So keep making it, write everything down, learn everything abt the genre but remember to rest from time to time when you feel burned out. And if you ever need someone to playtest it, I'm here! Ly ❤️

ok adding to this again bc theres more somehow

so not all of the placeholder lines in far harbor are tts, some of them are recorded by (presumably) one of the developers. (ive found 2 different people in there so far. no im p sure theyre not todd)

most likely some devs did it this way for efficiency (the creation kit has the option to record dialogue in the program itself when setting up quests. which is quicker then having to make a file w tts, making sure the filetype and everything is correct, putting it in the right folder, getting the ID it needs to have from the ck, and then naming it some arcane combination of letters and numbers so the game plays it at thr right time. butbthen my experience is w the skyrim ck. mayne the fo4 one has tts built in i dont fucking know. maybe some recoded it themselves bc they were in a seperate office who knows)

so i find that, let it simmer a little bit, and go do the vault 88 questline (my dedication to distractions truly knows no bounds) and i go to hallucigen inc to get something (back entrance, i already cleared it)

and then i hear it

is the same guy as one of the placeholder developers

and listening to it knowing that it makes it clear that it likely wasnt meant to be a final voice line (a bit of awkwardness thatd be unusual for an emergency alert, which would more likely be an automated voice of some kind)

and im guessing they just... forgot to change it in further in development? like its an emergency announcement in one building, its not something someone is going to nessecarily remember as important further down the line. odds are whoever was in charge of directing VO (or giving the vo director the script) for that section just missed it buried in the files somewhere, or assumed it was a final line.

and I didnt notice it my first time through hallucigen, and im willing to bet the late stage playtesters didnt either. and even if they did, they probably already did the rest of the VO at that point, and scheduling a whole recording block for just a couple lines that only appear in one building is just a hasstle.

digging through far harbor voice files in LVF for reasons and apparently bethesda left in placeholder files??

only reason i found this is because they used some preexisting base game characters voicetypes to host these files. like you just look in the voice types tab and fucking pickman is there

all of these are TTS, most likely for playtesting before they implemented the final voice acting

even weirder is that the lines arent specific to one character? like some of these seem to be player dialogue. and others seem to be NPC dialogue meant to be said to the player. like youd think theyd at least keep it consistent so theyd know what goes where but i guess not??

first thoughts of high school years

- i like that going to classes increases your sims skills bc im tired of my teen sims having barely any skills and going into adulthood

- idk how to join the cheerleader squad and my sims been going to school for a whole week

- the town is super pretty and the pier is adorable. though wish there was some rides/attractions that my sims could do that arent a rabbit hole because it would make great pictures

- so many glitches. my guy sim wants to ask out his sister. the mom wants to ask out her son. my sims prom date asked out her brother and he said no so now she doesn’t like him. 

- build & buy and cas are amazing. there’s so much good stuff that i can see using outside of the pack.

- getting detention for skipping class is pretty cool

- the social bunny app feels really cool but honestly it can get a bit tedious and annoying. i feel like a lot of my sims won’t use it outside of this playtest.

WHAT I WANT EVERYONE TO PLAY IN CAMPAIGN 3: *but like it’s just, what I would like to see and these are in No Way predictions gfdjhs*

Liam: He looked like he was having so much fun being animals while in character as Caleb, so i think he’d be so entertaining as a druid. Also maybe he could branch out and play an even slightly less humanoid race (half-elf, human, halfling, you know), even if it’s just like tiefling or something. I don’t thing he’d go as stereotypical as to play a satyr druid but something like that could be fun?

Marisha: People have been saying paladin forever and they’re So Correct i wanna see Marisha as a paladin so bad (plus just someone in cr playing paladin as a base class instead of multiclassing and only getting a few levels). As for race i have no idea, but i think it would be hilarious if she was the first animalfolk pc, like a grung or minotaur or uhh harengon or leonin or LOXODON. i don’t think anyone will do that but it WOULD be iconic gfhdkj

Travis: Bard. bard bard bard bard bard. he would be INCREDIBLE, and with branching out with high CHA characters with Fjord, i think he’d have fun playing a non-archetypal anti-Scanlan, really just because i also need another Sam/Travis pc feud bc they’re amazing playing against each other. And also just because i love going for the most chaotic thing, of course im going to say tabaxi. Would he EVER? No absolutely not. Should he though? 👀

Laura: I have had this in my head for MONTHS and i Do Not Know where or why this idea birthed, but earth genasi fighter or barbarian. One: Martial class because i’m in love with Grelnok from the ESO series and Laura deserves to just, chop body parts off, yeah. I fully don’t know where earth genasi came from but its just the vibe man. I would love this character so much. 

Sam: I heard someone on tiktok say artificer once and i cannot let it go. He would be an AMAZING artificer, probably doing absolutely stupid stuff with the infusions (aka the best stuff to do with infusions), but also, as we’ve seen in c1, he’d play such a specific type of chaotic support that i’d love to see with a different sort of genre of character. For race, the Small trend HAS to keep going, but dwarf is just too obvious for a builder. FAIRY on the other hand... come on. come on. Sam Riegel fairy artificer. is that not the best thing you’ve ever heard. gfhdsjk

Ashley: If Travis can’t play a tabaxi, Ashely absolutely can. Why? i have absolutely no idea. I feel like she would be so good with literally any combo i could come up with, but, as people have been saying, she seemed to really like monks, with Beau and Fy’ra Rai, so i think like a really gentle, soft spoken tabaxi monk, who like. kills people in the most blood rending way possible would be RIGHT up Ashley’s ally and she deserves to have badass kills where she like slits people’s throats with her claws.

Taliesin: It’s so obvious. It’s SO obvious. We are long overdue on a Taliesin warlock, and you just KNOW he would go so over the top with it. Like, yes he’s most likely actually going to be the playtester for one of Matt’s homebrewed classes or subclasses, but like also, the potential for Taliesin pc/patron interactions. they would be AMAZING you can’t tell me otherwise gfhdjdh. For race he could do literally whatever he wants. Satyr, warforged (Aeormaton?), vampire, aasimar, uhh fuckin centaur. i just know i’ll be obsessed and they’ll be Gender. ghfdjk

i got chosen for the ea playtest and i had an interview today!!!!!! i was surprised i was chosen in the first place bc the survey questions were "how often do you play 2k, fortnite, pubg, fifa.." and i kept putting never never never until overwatch and i put daily and 10+ hours per week. i got chosen for that and all i had to do was answer questions about overwatch and talk about my passion for it. i didnt even playtest a new game all i did was talk abt ovw for an hour and theyre giving me mass effect andromeda for free!!! i made the ea employee laugh a lot and he said he had fun talking to me. i also inspired him to want to play. literally the reasons why im MIA a lot is because im either playing overwatch or working on ovw cosplay. this is so special to me im glad i could share my love for it to ea

ive been trying to stay quiet about this project on this blog bc last time i hyped it so much, only to drop it like a week later. but tldr, The Prince and The Hound (formerly the bunny-cule comic, and formerly formerly the bunny cult comic) has been completely reworked (again), and will be a playable visual novel here in a bit, with the first playtest/demo/proof of concept going live in about a month or so.

ive already finished the coding (its being made in ren.py, so that is not as impressive as it sounds) and script for the demo and im just making the assets, doing the animations and graphics, and finishing up the polish work right now.

anyways, im really excited about this project and just wanted to keep yall in the loop, bc i kinda designed this whole story with an audience of pedantic comic nerds in mind, so like, it wouldn't exist without yall, especially since the thing that inspired me to start working on it again was one of you recommending the webcomic "i am the grim reaper" to me a while back

I never expressed this, and Im really tired and hungry but I dislike that I feel I gotta explain some context for everything I do regarding Pardo, but I will because I’m still getting vagued for ‘woobing him’. My friends with similar interests are getting vagued for 'woobing him’ and I don’t like any of that. (Vaguing as in, someone says: 'some people make Manny this sweet baby’ THOSE SCENARIOS ARENT HYPOTHETICAL, you saw it once somewhere, assumed it woobification of the character by a user and are now vaguing their content!) this post is to debunk 'woobification’. If you don’t wanna read this it’s under a read more and just block my personal tag 'ignore oh my god’ but, okay, first things first:

Pardo fills A LOT of exceptions to a favorite character I was willing to make, just ONCE. I normally don’t like characters like this, AT ALL, the 'remorseless killers’ if you want to call them that. I knew the shit that would follow liking him, more than anyone else.

The thing is, Pardo barely fits the seriia/ characteristics. I’ve discussed this in depth before but, think about this before you tell me for the 100th time he did it because he wanted to, that fame/attention or whatever was his motive.

We are never given Manny’s real motive; how do we know? Richard doesn’t even know what it is! If he knew what Manny was doing, he would’ve mocked it openly bc Richard is supposed to know everything, he’s omniscient. There’s more points obviously but I covered it before and I’m tired, and done talking after this post, anyway the sum of it is, that’s why he’s interesting to me.

I also have AUs, and I lightly RP. I fully support Multiverse, because it helps character building by putting them in a different setting and playtesting how they handle it. It’s fun seeing how one differing choice can change things!

I normally don’t put my AU work in the main tag but sometimes I do fully tag because it provides context to the source material. Tho sadly the initial context of the piece is lost.

How boring are you to not imagine and create scenarios outside of the raw canon? We’d have no content if we didn’t play or bend the rules just a little. Are comic book writers bad for making the heroes and villains switch roles in a single universe? We can’t give them personality or backstory bc they should remain half-done slates and caricatures? We can’t change their appearances to fit an interpretation? Why? Be creative, CREATE, we’re not trying to make you feel dumb or that you’re outside some loop. It’s not hard to ask if you’re confused. Creative people aren’t some impossible to understand enigmas. We are people, we have opinions and feelings just like anyone else.

Just please understand I’m not woobing canon Manny, it could be an AU. If he’s smiling, happy, it likely IS AN AU. Heck maybe I just wanted to see it so I drew it, or maybe I drew him smiling while being violent to stay, 'canon’? Honestly though, almost every pic I draw where he’s smiling is an AU. If that’s woobing, if giving him some personality is wrong, what the??
