whenever i'm with large groups of people i have at least one moment of Oh God. People Think I'm Either A Man Or A Woman. it's like getting shocked every time lmao party meme but it's they don't know i'm nonbinary
#he looked scared! like i might think badly of him or treat him differently!#i have many gay friends!#i did? kind of come out? to my coworker?#but i mean she already knew i'm gay lmao it's so obvious when you assume i'm a man that i'm not straight 😭😭#i did have to make a split second decision to say either bi or gay and i said gay 😭 i do use both interchangeably personally#bc i use gay as like an umbrella term for not straight#but i know people tend to think of only homosexual and heterosexual lol bisexual people don't exist <3#but really i didn't feel like doing a lesson on what bisexuality is if it was needed so 😭😭#my coworker was cool with it i was like i mean you probably know already but i'm gay lol and she said yeah i knew but it's your business#but um she was kinda outing our ex coworker? and i know she told me bc i'm obviously gay myself but.......#it's not cool to tell me when he only mentioned his bf to her and she said he looked scared that she might judge him.... like it's not cool#to tell period but especially since it was clearly said bc he trust *her* with the info#if they're openly out and the person already knows well ofc whatever you can talk about it but it wasn't like that so#but the thing IS....... that i only really realised she was outing him afterwards? my bad truly. i was uncomfortable in the moment#but for some reason it didn't click why til later#bc like at first i thought it was bc she said something like 😭😭 girl. how should he know you'd be cool with it. we live in This Society.#so i was uncomfy like uhhh. and i said well i mean you probably know already but i'm gay too and even if there's a p high chance that peopl#will be okay with it in this day & age (i didn't say but. bit different for trans ppl. i'm not out as trans) we can never know#so it makes sense to be scared to say it!#and she was like yes! but i am okay with it and he looked so scared! i truly know so many and i love them even more than others!#😭😭😭😭😭 she means well but seriously HOW SHOULD HE KNOW ALL THAT 😭😭😭😭 it doesn't work like that girl.....#i mean ? *i* never told her i'm gay 😭😭 and i've known her for 2 years and a half almost. this guy worked with us for like a few months#anyway i wish i was quicker to realise bc i would've told her out on it like...... really not your thing to tell other people 😵‍💫😵‍💫#still. i am glad i said it. even when it's obvious and wouldn't need telling#it's NOT easy to like. know that everyone knows. not for me at least. especially with the added layer of being trans (AND nonbinary)#bc i don't think ppl i haven't told know that. i think cis ppl are quite bad at like.. knowing transmasc ppl exist lol#so i go by he/him only in italian (no other options lol) and i'm. not really completely masc and don't “pass” super well but when#i present myself as nico and talk abt myself w masculine words ppl just either ignore that and go she! :) or think alright. (cis) gay man#and at work it's the latter after i've worked there for over 2 years. like i'm not out as trans so ppl draw those conclusions#i don't think it'd shock ppl if i said i'm trans but simply put cis ppl at least cis italian ppl dont know shit abt trans men and transmasc

the way dan speaks about his sexuality is interesting to me bc he originally was like yeah on some level i am attracted to women i wouldn’t say i’m totally gay and now it’s like i am a homosexual i would never date a woman
to me it reads as. yes in theory dan has the capability of being attracted to anyone regardless of gender or anatomy. but he just happened to bag the most fuckable emo twunk on terf island fall in love with a boy who would end up being his forever partner and therefore didn't have the necessity to explore his sexuality beyond that, but it was still something that he thought about. i think of people who get into straight relationships and one of them realizing theyre bi but they just never pursued the same gender and then ended up falling in love with someone of a different gender.
i remember talking to a couple people about whether or not dan should be called bi, but as a bi person who has struggled with calling myself bi in the past, i just really dont think that's a call for anyone to make other than dan. he's said he's queer. queer is intentionally not a very well-defined word in terms of a sexuality/gender. queer doesn't mean anything other than different from the norm. nowadays it feels like theres a lot of terms that fall under the bi+ umbrella, or the multisexual-spectrum (mspec) as some people like to call it. idk exactly how it is for dan, but for me, i like the history behind the terms bisexual, queer, and gay so those are what i use for myself, even if you could argue that i should technically call myself pan- or omnisexual. like even if dan is "technically" multi/bi/tri/pan/omni/polysexual, it doesnt matter cuz hes in a gay relationship and he calls himself gay. he has personal trauma and history surrounding the word gay, whereas FOR HIM, the bi label felt like an escape route to be openly queer without seeming "too queer." so his reclamation of the label Gay is so much more than a technical definition.
wait i gotta find a clip of dan in one of the stereos where he literally says "you can call yourself gay even if youre technically this or that you can just call yourself gay" i always think of clipping it and always forget to

This is a really bad take from our favorite extremely-weird-about-trans-men gay. I'm not going to call him cis because he's nb but he is extremely fucking weird about trans men and seems to not have really unpacked a lot of what society and the gay community feeds cis gay men in terms of opinions. Also yes, this post is old, but people are still reblogging it, including some people that I follow, so I'm going to respond to it anyway.
I agree with the first point, that accurate and concise language should be around. That is why we have the word lesbian (however we notably don't have a gay man version of lesbian, because gay has become an umbrella term for better or for worse). But words can mean more than one thing, and sometimes two hyper-specific words can be not contradictory for someone!
Use of "straight women who fetishize gay men" would normally not make me raise an eyebrow since they exist, but this guy's weirdness about trans men makes me wonder who he really means by this statement.
"Bi lesbian" isn't ahistorical at all, it's been used since the 70s. Ppl will really just call everything they don't like ahistorical, won't they?
It's not inviting men to prey on lesbians when a bi lesbian exists. Bc straight men who fetishize lesbians will probably also fetishize bi women! Fetishization by straight men isn't bad because lesbians don't like men, it's bad because it's fetishization. Why are we back to blaming bi women for men's actions?

Okay me angy here I go getting riled up again! If I see any more pisscourse about ace/aro not being part of the queer community, queer is a slur, men are inherently evil monsters, I’m just gonna assume you’re a TERF. Ace discourse back in the 10’s is exactly how TERFs started their rise to power.
Start out by drawing a line in the sand that (awful) people agree with. Now there’s proof that you can start boxing in certain identities. That means (general) you can start making specific definitions for things.
Queer is now a slur again. Queer actually hasn’t been reclaimed. People agree with that. You’ve just torn down an umbrella identity that everyone was able to gather under and unite behind.
LGBTQIA+ is actually the Correct Way to talk about the queer community. Actually we need to drop QIA+ because queer is a slur, intersex isn’t a sexuality/gender and is just a weird medical condition, and A stands for allies (instead of aro/ace bc we already decided that they aren’t part of the community) and we don’t want those sick CisHets infiltrating our community.
LGBT is now the proper accepted term. That means you must be Gay Lesbian Bisexual and/or Transgender to be part of the community. If you aren’t doing LGBT correctly then you are trying to infiltrate the community and steal resources (and those resources are never defined). Only LGBT people are safe.
Oh, except bisexuals. They’re dirty cheaters bc they get to pass as straight and thus aren’t Oppressed Enough like us Pure Gays. How dare they be into men. Only Good Gays get to be into men. If a lesbian ever thought about a man in any vague romantic/sexual way then they are Impure. Men are the true evil of the world bc patriarchy. The only type of man you’ll be safe with is a gay man bc they don’t want to SA you when they see your shoulders/ankles.
All men are the root of all evil, except our good example gay men, who coincidentally are usually white and follow the good gay stereotypes, which are feminine in nature. Femininity is Good and Safe. You can trust anyone who is Feminine, and you can distrust anyone who is Masculine. Men only exist to take advantage of women. Women must be protected at all costs.
Wait. We allow transgender people in the community. That means either a Dirty Evil Man is cosplaying as a woman, or a Pure Innocent Girl got taken in by the evils of masculinity and patriarchy. Trans people are bad since they are being taken over by Evil Men, and/or trying to infiltrate the community, which we already decided is bad. Trans people aren’t Pure. The T in LGBT gets dropped.
Also if you’re nonbinary someone pulled the wool over your eyes. It’s just a phase and you’ll fall into Woman Lite soon enough. There’s no such thing as an amab nonbinary person. Men are evil, and nonbinary is Woman Lite. If you dress in any way that’s not feminine or androgynous then you are doing it wrong.
Congrats, you are now a TERF.
And before you say “that’s not what happened!” I saw every single one of these talking points come out in real time. It was slow. It wasn’t sudden. It was pushing the boundary little by little until you boiled the frog. And now with acecourse coming up again I can all but guarantee that this cycle will happen again. So! Some things to look out for and deprogram.
All men are not inherently evil. All women are not inherently good. Masculinity isn’t inherently evil. Femininity isn’t inherently good. Queer is not a slur and is an extremely useful umbrella term for those who don’t know which label they fit under, or who don’t want a specific label. Yes, queer can still be used as a slur (I have been called queer in a derogatory way) but it is one the community has reclaimed. Trans people aren’t trying to trick you. Amab nonbinary people aren’t “lesser” than afab nonbinary people. Nonbinary is not Woman Lite. There is no such thing as a morally pure sexuality. The queer community is welcome for all who identify as queer; yes, even that person. Policing and oppression olympics is not a litmus test for “pure enough” for joining the queer community. The queer community is for Everyone. That’s it. That’s all.

Mild rant on Alastor bc I'm tired.
*takes deep breath*
I was going to stay out of this so rip to my inbox.
Does anybody remember the whole ace doxing list on here? The whole discussion of not shipping gay characters with the opposite gender? The rep for pan/bi representation and the steps to do it right? Does anybody remember when ppl on here discussed how aros and aces aren't a part of the queer community bc they're not 'gay enough' in a way? Bc I do. That was about a decade ago. And I remember when Alastor was first introduced in the pilot and ppl not accepting he was aroace back then.
It doesn't matter if Alastor is entirely aroace and if he's capable of dating or not.
What matters is we still have so little ace representation and acceptance, especially aroace rep, that a few years ago when a real person Jaiden Animations came out as aroace, ppl tried to destroy her, bc even with a perfect valid explanation of her just saying aroaces are their own thing and she just doesn't want to date, ppl treated it like she was lying or was trying to sneak into the queer community and was straight or all the other horrible things yall might remember "fans" did to her.
Alastor being aroace isn't about being the rep of "Aroaces can feel attraction!!!" bc be real honest.
How many aroace popular characters can ppl list that a regular person on the street is going to know? Bc I've heard all their arguments to invalidate their representation.
Jughead? Oh you mean Cole Sprouse who made out and got it on with Lili Reinhart playing Betty bc he found her sexy? Oh but in the old comics he's a gay character whose in denial. Yelena Boleva? Who? Oh that woman? She's hot she's just traumatized and needs to find the right person. Charlie Weasley? Oh he was only in the books? He was confirmed as aroace through a passive comment most ppl didn't know about from the author that never used the term? Luffy? You mean one of the most shipped characters in One Piece? No he's just an idiot/childish so he doesn't understand girls are pretty. Caduceus Clay? Sorry I didn't watch Critical Role whose that? Are you sure he's aroace? He feels gay to me.
I can list more ppl, but I'm sure most ppl couldn't.
I remember the whole discussion of the pan/bi representation argument of "Yes! We know pan/bi ppl can date the opposite gender. But straight ppl don't know about pan/bi nearly at all or don't accept it," so showing it as gay, who know the term more, until it's shown clearly the character is queer and not "confused straights" they then can have opposite gender attraction. Bc sooooo many pan/bi characters end up "straight" at the end of their show/book. Bc I remember when ppl refused to accept that Deadpool is pan bc of his wife and started freaking out when he dated a nonbinary person in the comics or helped that one genderqueer person he knew.
Representation is about showing to ppl what they're not understanding about the identity in the plainest sense of the words of the identity, then when there's enough rep to show they're not all the same, then you can have the ones that break the rules.
Alastor whether or not he wants to date doesn't matter. What matters is this whole situation blew out of proportion bc ppl refused to accept that some ppl don't feel comfy shipping him. Bc they see themselves in him and don't want that. BUT! Also ppl under the aro and ace umbrella also have no rep and wanted to see him breaking the stereotype they probs have yelled at them of "You can't have a partner you're aroace I forbid it" and wanted to see thru their own experiences how that would be done.
Here's the problem.... As someone who has read a lot of aroace headcanon fanfics as an aroace....... A lot of ppl who are allo don't realize aroace "crushes" are missing emotions... That's why they're aroace. And they'll write them like they're the same just "muted" or "needs to warm up" kinda thing. Or make the character's love "childish" to explain the lack of romance/sex. Which is messed up. And that's the problem here.
Alastor didn't need to be this blown out of proportion of a situation. The problem is ppl found him sexy and the classic "But aroace hot, they can't be aroace bc why hot?" discussion got brought back up without the gentle post format discussions and instead it was a lot of shippers on tiktok with tiny word counts arguing a complex issue.
Ppl should be allowed to ship whatever (except problematic I know yall too well), especially if they see themselves in the characters and especially if they have the same identity and want to explore that!!
The truth of the matter is this is such a huge issue that just keeps happening bc ppl are too used to fandom queer spheres where ppl already know aroace means "off the table" and so they want to play with qprs or grayromantics/sexuals not knowing what that entails bc there's sooooo lil aroace rep that actually explores being aroace and a lot of ppl don't know the basics, and even how very different aroace "off the table" is when you aren't the classic "uwu I'm just innocent and have no friends or importance to the plot so just ignore me and have me be adopted by one of the main couples as a 'kid' figure."
Not to mention that a lot of ppl still think ace means aroace. That aces can't date bc there's ppl who don't know that romantic and sexual attraction are different!
I'm just.... So tired. So very tired of having ppl shout at me what it means to be aroace and being unable to look up the lil aroace rep we have bc of this issue I've seen a million times is all.

hii sorry what is mspc lesbian? idk if I write that right but it's your Last post.
please if you can explain I don't indurestand
honestly, please don’t worry about not understanding it, seriously don’t. it’s all complete bullshit anyways but i will still try and explain it for you the best i can.
“mspec” is basically an umbrella term for multiple different “identities”. just think of it as how gay (or sometimes queer) is used as an umbrella term for the lgbtq+ community as a whole. like we’re all gay. but we use lesbian, bi, pan, etc. to be more specific.
but said mspec “identities” include bullshit, such as “bi lesbian”, “pan lesbian”, “straight lesbian” and more 🙄
they’re all complete contradictions to what a lesbian is (which is a non man loving a non man). all these “mspec” lesbians claim that lesbians can like men and still be a lesbian, they can date men and still be a lesbian, and even that men can identify as lesbians.
hell i’ve even seen them go as far as saying this shit about gay men (not bi men who also like women, gay men who only like men, bc that seems to confuse people for some reason) but the other way around saying that they can like women. and i’ve even seen them say that lesbians can date gay men. lord help me.
and fuck me, i’ve even seen them say shit about “mspec lesbians who aren’t attracted to women”…???? would rather shove a fork up my ass than have to think about this bs for much longer. its mostly on twitter (bc of course it is 😒) but still.
i’ve seen a lot of them say that “mspec” doesn’t equal liking men. which, sure. whatever. but then what the fuck is point of putting all this shit in front of ‘lesbian’???? like lesbianism includes everyone who is a non man who like other non men??? who the fuck else are you trying to include 💀
if you like men, you can’t be a lesbian. if you are a man, you, get this, can’t be a lesbian. simple as that.
it’s just a whole thing of them saying men can be involved in lesbianism, which they. can. not. it’s literally the whole fucking point of being a lesbian. and men do not, and will never be, apart of lesbianism. lesbian is like the only fucking identity that doesn’t include men in any fucking way and people (mspec lesbians) want to shit a brick over it when we say that.

Hi, since the other night when Harry said “isn’t all of this sparkly music” during a fan’s coming out, the phrase “we’re a little big gay” he told years ago came back and with it some annoying comments. Like people saying that it was biphobic, ignorant,….
What do u think about it, bc every time someone bring s back to light that quote there’s always some debate.
I think gay can be also used as an umbrella term and that his intentions weren’t malicious but just to make feel at ease the fan.
I honestly have zero patience for people like that. He obviously meant it as an umbrella term because only an idiot would think that “gay” is the only other sexuality besides straight. People are just looking to fight and to invalidate the point of what he said. Ignore them.

It absolutely baffles me when it comes to the lesbian community in TikTok. There's been so many posts about it on my FYP and I'm getting tired of it. :(
Like the only rep I've seen them giving is being really exclusive to mspec and multigender lesbians. It's mostly(on the side I've seen it, ik there's a lot more to it, but i just haven't found myself on that side yet!) about lesboys or/and demi gays & lesbians .
Like have a little open mind will ya? Discovering what you like and how you decide to use labels isn't a ?crime¿ They're there to help you out and it's not bad that some may use contradicting labels if they feel it's what best works for them.
Also bc demigenders aren't inherently always side by side with the person's AGAB or sex in general. Still they argue about the person being straight even if the person in question may be a nonbinary ( or something under the umbrella specificly nonbinary or trans umbrella in general) demiboy who uses the lesbian term bc it describes best their attraction. It's really stupid that the demigender lesbian/gay discourse is just exclusionists trying to argue that they're just straight. As we all know that they in fact are not.
This post has a ?kinda¿ open ending bc i don't actually know what to put here as i wrote this in a flash of impulsivity and didn't even know where it was going myself/nbh

i think tim is bi not gay. and yeah i think the reason it always came across as off is because they basically introduced this very bland random character (bernard) whose sole role is to be tim's bf and feels very detached from anything about tim up until this point? i mean twt tim stans who woobify him enough already dont care but it's just jarringly done
oh yeah sorry i used gay as an umbrella term i know he’s bi 😭 the interesting thing is if tim had to date anyone i do think it should be a civilian bc he needs to have a definitive part of his life that is not entrenched in vigilantism and keeps him grounded to reality. but bernard is a bit of a bizarre conduit to use and then comics nowadays rarely produce anything compelling anyway so even if that dynamic does have potential it’s certainly not going to be capitalized on in a way that’s really meaningful.. albeit i do like that the writers recognized the significance of tim revealing something personal about himself to bruce and that being a big thing bc as far as his original robin tenure went tim was very adamant about separating the two parts of his life to the point he almost suppressed the civilian part esp where bruce was concerned, and that was obv not healthy
ig for me the disconnect with fandom comes from the reasoning popularly used for why he’s not straight. like it either has to do with his interactions with ariana and stephanie which i think it is a bit shortsighted to call queer coded bc they’re clearly products of dixon’s misogyny. or it has to do with the kon relationship, a hyper focus on which to me says people don’t equally value the other relationships in the core four. like if it was any of the other core four who died would people automatically ship tim with them too bc he would obv be incredibly upset and desperate to bring them back? the core four comes off as such a wonderful friendship to me and i personally kind of hate the whole prerogative that if you’re in a friend group it’s obv at least two of you will date. i like them as friends and i think it’s fine to keep it that way
i just wish people’s engagement with why tim could be queer was more interesting. i’m definitely open to the idea but it has to come from more than authorial misogyny and a reaction to a particular character dying

Out of curiosity, why do you feel like you’re aromantic? I only ask because I’ve been very seriously thinking that I’m aro, but I keep second guessing myself. I think it would help to hear why another person is aro, but I just don’t encounter a lot of people or bloggers who talk about it.
Feel free to ignore if you want, people irl and on this site are still really weird about aros, so I totally understand not wanting to get into it
Ooougha okay so i have thoughts™ and you are about to get them all good luck lol i get to how i feel in terms of being aro towards the end. I promise this is all building up to that even tho it'snot gonna seem like it at 1st x_x.
(tl;dr: it took me 5 years to feel like i loved my husband and I'm not even sure the love i feel is romantic or not bc it feels the same as how i feel for my friends but overall I'm not even sure what benefit there is for me, personally, to ID as aro bc what's even the purpose of labeling our sexualities, political or personal? (it's a mix of both)
There's, from what I've seen, really two purposes to labeling one's sexuality.
1) political coalition building. -> Hi i am a Gay man and you are a Lesbian we are not The Same but we have political interests that are The Same and we are more powerful and safer together let's have each other's backs. And when there's an issue that affects only you I'll still show up for you and when it's an issue that affects only me you'll still show up for me.
And
2) community and communication. -> hi i am a gay man and you are a man also interested in men (gay/bi) lets be in a community and/or relationship
(Please dont come at me these are both huge over simplifications! I'm build up my thought process to a more complex idea!)
Neither of these things are mutually exclusive, of course, and these are only sorta loose ideas I've seen some people express here and there.
I only note them bc people who focus on number 1, political coalition building, are more often (not always!) a little more down on "micro labels," whether they are exclusionist or not, bc it, they argue, in some way muddies the waters in terms of coalition building. If there's so many niche labels now and we're creating more and more niche labels then we're creating more and more divides and not focusing on keeping each other safe under the same umbrella.
I've also seen the argument that making more and more niche micro labels is related to individualism and commoditization under capitalism. Like "look you too can have ur own special flag and identity! Now buy all this merch to show it off! Give us money!!!"
Which, for both of these concerns, i am sympathetic to to an extent. (Except out right exclusionists, fuck them.)
People who focus more on number 2, community and communication, are generally, in my experience, much more in favor of micro labels. Say ur like me, I'm asexual but I'm also gay but maybe aromantic, but then where does the gay fit in? Oh geez idk. But wait! There's a sexuality that breaks being gay while also aroace down! I have a word(s) for myself! Which inarguably feels good. It makes me feel understood and normal. And now i can find other people who experience sexuality just like me. I can find a small community to feel at home in. Right?
---
i have laid out these two general ideas. The possible purposes i might have for naming/labeling/understand my sexuality.
I approach my sexuality from a political standpoint AND from a personal standpoint which I think most people do bc again they're are not mutually exclusive.
I am in some way not straight (and not cis but not talking about that right now). I have faced violence and discrimination for my sexuality. I want to name my sexuality in order to identify myself with a political movement. I name my sexuality so when I take political actions or make political demands, it is understood by others that i am doing so in solidarity with other people who have face similar oppression. I want to name my sexuality so i can better articulate the problems I face. So other can go to bat for me (and I will go to bat for them even if the issue isnt mine!)
For example, back in the day when ace ~discourse~ was much much worse, I was threatened with corrective rape (irl for the record) but instead of anyone standing in any sort of solidarity with me, i was told i was misappropriating corrective rape. (Which still just fucking blows my mind but besides the point.) This is why exclusionist can fuck off btw. Instead of anything productive they just were yaknow evil. Ugh anyway
I also faced discrimination at the doctors when asked my sexuality. I was honest and said asexual which lead down a whole rabbit hole of bullshit. The coalition building purpose would look like, "i have faced discrimination at the doctors for my sexuality and so have you so lets team up and support a bill that protects patient autonomy and rights"
And on the personal side i can talk to other asexuals who have faced the exact same problems i have. I can find empathy and understand in a way i might not from an allo cis gay guy (that's not dunking on any allo cis gay guy! For the record. We just have different experiences and very similar ones too!).
So you can see the benefit of either approach right? Maybe i just wanna call myself just queer or just gay or just ace and be done with. I have my coalition and maybe my community it still very broad but it is there.
Or maybe i wanna figure out why it took 5 years to feel like i loved my husband. Or why maybe my love for my husband doesn't really feel any different than my love for friends? Should the love i feel for my husband even BE different from the love i feel for my friends? Am i actually even feeling love? We've been together for 12 years what different does it make now anyway?
I feel like I'm probably aro but i also feel like I'm not and I'm "only" asexual.
Things that affect aros affect nearly all of us. We're all impacted by amatonormativity. We all struggle with getting next of kin rights with our chosen family, just to name a couple things. Discussing and supporting aromantism will benefit us all.
But what about discussing someone who is ace aro and gay? Maybe? Idk? Does being aroacegay bring anything new to the table? Or is it just another flag to profit off of for some fucking corporation? I dont know!
For me, is there even any separation between being ace and aro and gay or is it just the same part of me being looked at through too many lenses?
And all of this is what i think and feel when i think or feel like I'm aro x_x which is to say bud i have no fucking clue lol.
All i really know is i will fight for anyone under the queer/lgbtq+ umbrella regardless if it impacts me and i hope and pray that when people like me need the same kind of support everyone else will also fight for us too.
I think I'm done now. Sorry u got this whole ass mess lol. x_x if you have any questions comments or concerns you can DM or anon me any of them :3 I'll happily address them

character asks: worlds greatest?
SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG ANYWAYS
Plastic man-
Sexuality Headcanon: he likes women men and anything else so long as it’s legal and safe and he doesn’t care imo to necessarily label it
Gender Headcanon: trans man with a funny little sprinkling of bugs bunny gender nonconformity as well
A ship I have with said character: Zauriel/Eel 💖💖💖💖💖💖 also John Henry/Eel 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
A BROTP I have with said character: Same as above ^ bc i prioritise their canon friendship moments a lot but also I love thinking about the hilarious dynamics Eel had with Helena, and his relationships with Bruce, The Terrifics, other JLers like Kyle and his solo characters like Paco, Morgan and Edwina are just fun as well
A NOTP I have with said character: there’s soooooo many plastic man ships i hate more then anything but sorry im forever a b@tpl@s and W00zypl@s hater I will never see the appeal
A random headcanon: HMMMMMMMMMMMMM I think around most people Eel puts on that super goofy hero look or like some other form of exaggerated look but when its people he is actually attached to and close with and it’s like private settings he'll unintentionally or not look more relaxed and like how his old self used to look
General Opinion over said character: One of my oldest favourite heroes 💖 One day i promise Ill read all his comics at least his DC ones Ive already read a good chunk. I think Every other plastic man fan probably hates me or would if they knew my takes but that’s okay because I trust myself best about him anyways
Steel (John Henry)-
Sexuality Headcanon: GAY MAN!!! HE LOVES MEN. HE KISSES MEN. HE DOES ON DATE WITH MEN. AMEN.
Gender Headcanon: Transgender man because only the realest hunks are
A ship I have with said character: Zauriel/Eel/John Henry also just Eel/John henry in general. I am also endeared towards Clark/John Henry.
A BROTP I have with said character: GUY AND JOHN HENRY!!!!!! Also again always John henry's relationship with other superfam members like Kara and Lois and such. With Helena and that one spy guy from his solo and Natasha and other JLers im forgetting…… OH i liked how he interacted with that one hero from bloodlines a lot too!!!
A NOTP I have with said character: uhm i guess any straight ship with John like Lana/John…. Sorry
A random headcanon: I think he probably organises like friendly football games with other heroes who he's on close terms with just as like a fun bonding activity usually also along with food like barbecue picnic style but then it like always gets super out of hand and a villain probably crashes it but he still does it every year anyways
General Opinion over said character: I LOVE HIM MORE THEN ANYTHING MY FAVOURITE GUY SUPERHERO FROM DC……… of all time ever maybe?!?!?!?!?!?! I am very very very scared for his upcoming solo but I really really really hope it’s good because he deserves it……… such an important and overlooked superman character
Zauriel-
Sexuality Headcanon: Gay as like an umbrella term. Probably specifically nblm but the only thing Zauriel knows is they’re a dude liker and it took them joining the jla to find this out. Also extremely asexual
Gender Headcanon: Nonbinary/Agender. Gender of shrug emoji. Gender of feeling both attached to human ideas of masculinity and femininity and then not at all. Most of all gender of being hot
A ship I have with said character: Zauriel/Eel once more 💖💖💖💖💖 as well as John henry/Zauriel
A BROTP I have with said character: I think Zauriel's friendship with most of the JLers is really cute but i especially love their relationship with 90s Aquaman its so fucking funny. In my head also Zauriel had a sprawling in depth growth arc of gaining the shadowpact's trust and becoming their bestie forever especially Rory's. I also think it'd be fun if Zauriel befriended more bird based heroes
A NOTP I have with said character: whoever the hell during the 2000s was shipping Zauriel with like supergirl…..
A random headcanon: I might have said this before but I do think Zauriel is extremely extremely into collecting especially objects with some form of importance whether that be cultural, personal, etc, and i do think after a while with JL help they'd probably get an official degree in archivist science w/e. Anyways Zauriel librarian or like museum curator arc is what im saying
General Opinion over said character: MY BESTEST FRIEND FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Genuinely the only only only good Angel character DC has and easily one of the best debut heroes of the 90s I really really wish Zauriel took off more and that they kept along their og characterisation more where Zauriel was like a bitch and implied hated god and Heaven and just wanted to be a superhero “mega Christian Zauriel” makes me want to cry. Either way. I love them so much sm
Huntress (Helena Bertinelli)-
Sexuality Headcanon: LESBIAN. LESBIAN NOWWWWWWWWW. NO MORE HELENA DATING MEN
Gender Headcanon: trans woman because I'd simply like her to be
A ship I have with said character: Renee/Helena and Dinah/Helena and Karen/Helena are the main ones coming to me
A BROTP I have with said character: Her with the birds of prey obviously……. Also her with the JL and such…… I think she should be allowed also to have more friendships with the Justice league international especially i want to see her hanging out with Guy and Tora and Bea and so on!!!!! Idk if they've ever met before but i also think that Via Dinah Helena should meet and hang out with Zatanna so they can be #bad bitches together. Same with Vixen actually
A NOTP I have with said character: ANY STRAIGHT HELENA SHIP!!!! I hate you V1c/H3l3na I hate you D1ck/Her etc etc etc etc etc
A random headcanon: I MISS WHEN HELENA WAS A SCHOOL TEACHER so I think Helena probably helped open up a lot of school schemes for her students if she hasn’t already in canon!!! Things like clubs especially a book club and school trips and so on. I imagine she'd probably really want for them to be able to see School as a safe or reliable environment if other things in their lives aren’t going well that she can’t just get involved with easily as a vigilante
General Opinion over said character: MY FAVOURITE WOMAN OF ALL TIME…. I LOVE THAT SHES MEAN I LOVE THAT SHES FILLED WITH REVENGE I LOVE THAT SHES MESSY AND CAN BE EASILY PISSED OFF AND YET SHE TRIES SO SO SO SO HARD ANYWAYS TO BE SUCH A DAMN GOOD HERO!!!!!!!!!!!! In a server I was literally just talking about her so i am full of helena loving anew

biphobia online and irl is nasty. maybe i should use these accounts as more of a journal sometimes. but whatever from other queers it’s nasty and dehumanizing of bisexual+ and is right alongside straights with the “epistemic contract of bisexual erasure” from monosexuals. the offense taken when we use that term—popularized by a gay man—the offense over us speaking, being slutty too much or not enough, wrong gender of partners depending on the day.
as much as i think culturalism obscures capitalist society and racial capitalism and its relations. as much as media makes me furious and these shows are tied to state building and nationhood; as much as we can’t say capitalism the way we should, most if not all media we are presented with not being actually radical…it makes sense why bisexual+ want to see ourselves and with other bisexuals. we would like it to be legible. at its core it is liking anyone—not different than pansexuality but like everything under the umbrella /the same/. not transphobic, not exclusive, and has history of not being so.
if we define who we are, as bisexuals or under the umbrella, then we could create media like it. that’s different and outside the box. i find gay men are a lot more accepting of bisexual men but to a point so a lot of these shows will have a bisexual character and a gay character together. for two women that could be a toss up—usually if the person writing it is bisexual will you have that but often both get erased as monosexual.
I will be 33 soon. I’ve been bisexual (…mostly, i did think i was a lesbian and vastly preferred women younger bc…trawma) my whole life but i spent my 20s not giving a shit what people said about us and not thinking biphobia was a big deal. convincing myself we have no issues bc, like a self fulfilling prophecy, i would end up woth a man anyway. Being told what i like by people who don’t eveb want me tk be bisexual. Being alienated from everyone is HARD and having a group be overwhelmingly people of color, OVERWHELMINGLY BLACK, and a large amount of trans people….people not giving a shit and us being erased from history, radicalism, and even the most basic of “liberatory” things like television and film (and even w sex and rships when ppl complain abt puriteens or whatever the fuck moral panic of a moral panic but not bisexuals…HMMMM)
this was abt sth else lol

also the authors commentary really seems to imply (if not outright state) that rose is bi, and dave is gay.
(this turned out pretty long so i put it under a cut)
i mean- i just reread homestuck, so i knew rose was bi (theres a very small throwaway line in the game with john), BUT i figured dave was bi too?!?!? not gay?!? the thing is... i really cant tell if hussies joking about certain comments! like saying one of the reasons davejade failed was bc it was straight. he also uses "gay" as sort of an umbrella term (UGH) because he does call dave gay outright but in the same sentence calls karkat gay too (albeit kinda jokingly) when he canonically is bisexual.
daves whole thing with his sexuality is that he kept all those feeling repressed for a long time, in an effort to keep up his "cool guy" persona. so really, you COULD say the romantic aspect of his relationships with jade and terezi are just... an extension of that mindset??? but... huh... whuh...... i never got that feeling from the original comic?!?!??!?!?!?
and here-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i also took this very literally and thought he was saying "no im not gay, because i like both" but was too embarrassed to say that outright, and just said "what no", but... i guess! technically! this could be interpreted way differently, as just dave getting embarrassed and wanting to backtrack and deny what he was saying completely. and now i feel silly!!!!!!!!
and here, when he finds out dirk is ssa in some way,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he then says
Tumblr media
WHICH GETS CUT OFF! soooo MAYBE? its fully intended to be unclear???
am i stupid 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 am i misinterpreting everything?!?

thank you @wishbonedean for saying it like it is:
#yes! i don't understand the bi erasure going on #cas has canonically enjoyed sexual encounters with women before #i can only *hope* people are using gay as an umbrella term when referring to cas but like #he's bi everybody #cas is bi #dean is bi #stop bi erasure #let us have our canonically bi character wtf #him and dean have such bisexual narrative arcs it's not even funny #not to mention the inherent misogyny that sexualizing a woman doesnt have to mean anything if you end up falling for a man #he clearly had a connection with meg too but fuck her right? #i swear #also supports the shitty narrative that whoever a bisexual person ends up with dictates their sexuality #not up for debate if this is challenged #youre biphobic if you downplay his canonical romantic/sexual relationships with to support the destiel ship #destiel does NOT require the bisexual erasure of EITHER character #cas died upon confirming his bisexuality and dean died in the bisexual closet #it's bad enough *without* the erasure thank you very much #and yes it *is* important to understand there is a distinction btwn gay and bisexual experience bc while they share some similarities #they both have their unique qualities and pros and cons #and erasure from monosexuals (gay *and* straight) is one of those #monosexual primacy drives people like dean into the closet to the point that they have no clue they are missing out on half of themselves
ok but where are my fellow bisexual castiel truthers huh where are my bi4bi deancas siblings in arms huh where are my cas-is-gay-but-as-in-the-umbrella-term people HUH WHERE ARE Y'ALL WHERE
