every time jun has gone back to China for activities I become more and more done with XCSS (Pledis China)... it's so clear they're incompetent and don't understand how the Chinese entertainment industry works 🙃

#either that and/or theyre deliberately sabatoging jun #which like... i do abide by the whole 'dont attribute to malice what you could attribute to incompetence' thing #but also at this point its ridiculous...#a very summarized version is that in china its very common practice for companies to collaborate directly with official fanbases #so fanbases can organize events and provide promotion and support etc.#like its hard to explain but fanbases are more official organizations that are an important part of the entertainment industry #its basically a job for some people #but xcss/pledis has not been properly communicating with juns fanbases (jfortepiano and jun bar)#and its been causing a lot of issues #theyre also not following certain social media conventions for events apparently #all of which is hurting the promotion of juns acting activities #its also not a good look when every other actor has this fan support and jun either doesnt have any or has last minute stuff put together #bc the fanbases were not given proper notice/communication from the company #also im saying this as someone who has actually defended pledis (korea) for many things so like #yall know i wouldnt be complaining about this if it was just a small thing or there was some other explanation for it #the best explanation is that theyre incompetent and are treating c-ent like its k-ent when its not #but after all these years shouldnt they have learned by now and hired people who know what theyre doing??#might delete this but i needed to rant #its also frustrating when so called carats insult jun for doing solo activities and act like he thinks hes above svt #when hes not even getting proper support for his solo activities from the company 🙃#like no babes i promise this is not easier for him 😭#also i have to wonder what the xcss employees even do most of the time...#as far as i know they dont have any artists that promote solely in korea so jun and minghao should be their main priotities right???#but they seem to do jack shit whether chinaline is in korea or back in china to promote stuff #like not even the bare minimum half the time #ugh anyway #melia.txt

i have got to be so real and honest with you all i am going to be sad forever if rwby never gets finished. "it's just a show" "it's not even that good" i don't CARE i've spent a decade growing up with it and it's so special to me :(

#blahs #rwby #it's just such a bizarre position that we're in rn #rwby being rt's flagship meant it always used to feel so certain that it'd get to go as long as it needed #i never even thought about cancellation as a possibility until around v9 #and even then after v9 ended i was fairly optimistic #and now the show's been off the air for a year and the fandom's not really active THIS is when we get hit with rt shutting down #so i have all this sadness over a story that's very special to me maybe never coming back but the fanbase is kind of subdued about it #it doesn't feel like the show even really gets a mourning period #esp bc there's a chance it could come back i don't think people know if they should be mourning it?? it's all very weird #if it doesn't come back it's so strange to think such a huge presence in my life might go out so quietly #anyway i love you rwby i miss you rwby :(

its truly not that i have a problem with ppl continuing to engage with a persons work after theyve been called out for being problematic or whatever but the way m//lanie m//rtinez stans literally just convinced themselves all the allegations were false, called the alleged victim a liar and then proceeded to pretend it all never even happened is frankly chilling to me

i do think the amount of comparisons between black sails and ofmd - both favorable and unfavorable tbh - is a little out of hand lmao like even before the flint vs stede poll there was a lot of it and its like. they are completely different shows with completely different goals. i just saw someone call ofmd a "black sails ripoff" and honestly what the fuck are you talking about. is black sails a pirates of the caribbean ripoff?? is there only allowed to be one television show about pirates and everything else is a copy?? or is it just the fact that there are also gay characters in it? im just like there are PLENTY of real and good criticisms why does it always come back to this. let them exist separately

my rewrite where uhhhhhhhhhh. everything is the same except the writers actually care about female characters. a lot of decisions were made because of actresses no longer being available so plotlines like fish's are more or less the same but like, Ivy either gets to grow up normally or is never a child at the beginning to start with (you can go the weird plant body route if you have to keep her relatively younger since this is a prequel ig), and I don't... even know what to make of KK or Isabella, and Sofia should just be fucking. dont tell me there isn't a single female italian bodybuilder who can act, I don't believe you. let her be buff. let her take up space. let her be huge and wear vintage fashion.

also Oswald is fat and trans

something a lot of band fanbases on tumblr do that really irritates me is that they'll post a photo no ones ever seen before with no context and then caption it with a woefully unfunny one liner and then when you ask them the context of the photo 6 times out of 10 they will not answer or not give you a source for the photo. and like they assume everyone knows waht the photo is from already. andif you dont then youre just an idiot i guess. info sharing in band fandoms in general has always been kind of an enemy to me. like am i crazy or do so many fans leave other fans in the dark about stuff and gatekeep things like photos or interviews or information in general. its so odd. maybe i am crazy. i have insecurity issues so maybe im imagining things. maybe im just projecting or something. i dont know. not sure

#its V time again oh boy!#time to think about characters from an old ass show no one else cares about!#like at least some older shows still have dedicated fanbases but this one is just kinda in the background #obscure old scifi shows my beloved #its ok though I know in my heart that Mike was a chaotic bisexual and Martin was inove with him <3 #fandom #hyperfixation #neurodivergence #Mike and Martin shouldve kissed that is all #seriously though i highly recommend watching the original 80's miniseries/show its so good #its a clear allegory to fascism and has really good character dynamics #and it has Robert Englund playing a very sweet alien that doesn't speak english very well bc he was sent to the wrong place #though the aliens are definitely built from the harmful 'lizard person' concept #it was based on a novel called 'it cant happen here' which was written in 1935 and its heavily antifascist #but the studio thought the original script was too much so they swapped the fascist out for aliens #its really good despite very much being a product of its time #unfortunately the antisemitic nature of the lizard-person trope wasnt really talked about so it flew under the radar #but the core message is very clearly calling back to and criticizing the nazi party #its even directly pointed out by a jewish character at one point saying they need to help or risk repeating history #i just think its very good and should be watched and also I want more people who Get It
