hello... 😅 uhm, first of all, i truly am sorry in advance for being awkward 😭 but for once i decided not to let my awkwardness keep me from sharing (what i think/hope are) positive thoughts with a stranger on the internet, so here i am.
i'm not around much and legit only made this acc bc like you i'm a late bloomer here and needed as many outlets for my yizhan/wangxian obsession as i could get my greedy hands on, in the big year of 2023... sigh. anyway, as an avid lover of meta/analysis posts since my early fandom days began around 15 (oof 🥲) years ago, finding your acc was such a lovely surprise. i agree with your views a LOT, and really appreciate how eloquent and well-written your posts are! even more so bc there's a lot i still don't know and most of the time the source material is very hard to reach and/or understand due to the language barrier, so having other turtles to rely on to access those, even if filtered by their own biases/opinions, is wonderful. besides, such input coming from a new fan is also comforting and imo refreshing, juxtaposed with that of older fans... it keeps the fandom alive and all that jazz. it's also very brave given how ruthless some folks can be on the internet, and on this corner in particular 😮‍💨 it just felt like reading my own thoughts written by someone else sometimes. i gasped and nodded at your posts soooo many times djskdjdj thank you for that!
(btw you followed me back the other day and i legit fangirled irl bc ??? whatttttt 😅 i still think it was an accident but okay omg djskdjdj AHEM. sorry)
then today i logged in and read your recent posts feeling squeamish about sharing more thoughts and as much as i 100% relate to you saying that kind of attention makes you anxious, i just... idk, i had to let you know i enjoy everything you post, even though adult life has kept me from being able to read it all so far. i understand you stepping back and i respect that decision, i'm not by any means asking you to go against what you know is best for you. at the same time, i can't help but hope you'll still show up every now and then bc your posts will be missed 🥲 i guess the whole motivation behind this is that it just made me sad to think your valuable insights will be something i'm yet again late to, if that makes sense?
djskdjdj again, i'm so sorry for being awkward and weird and dropping all of this on your inbox unprovoked. you don't have to reply (or read this AT ALL omg 😭😭), in fact i'm so embarrassed by this that you'd probably have to reach me through inquiry lmaooo 💀 anyway, have a great life, thank you so much for the great job, bjyxszd etc ❤️💚💛
Oh, don't be anxious! I'm really not a big deal.
Thank you for dropping into my inbox! I love hearing from other turtles, especially relative newbies, like myself! One of my fav parts of coming out of lurking mode is getting to talk to other people. I kinda follow back anybody who follows me, cause it seems polite? I don't know tumblr etiquette. I just follow the tags when I get the chance.
I appreciate the encouragement! I try to avoid dramatics, so I'm sorry for the upset last week. The situation is largely resolved, and I am feeling more okay. I kinda backed off because I wasn't sure of my footing here in fandom as compared to others, especially as I do think I have some takes that fall outside fandom consensus. Again, I don't mean to rock any boats and I'm not invested in convincing anybody that they should have the same opinions as I do. Hearing from turtles who do want me to continue posting gave me some more confidence there.
So, yeah, I expect I'll post some more as I have time. I'd like to post more on dd (cause he's my fav). I'd also like to try to figure out gg cause that dude is so confusing to me. I do have RL stuff going on, and I don't have the time to be super-active outside of occasional posts. But I'd like keep posting stuff. At least until I get all my Yizhan thoughts out.

Normally I keep to basic tags or empty reblogs for this fandom, but I'm gonna open my mouth for this one. Sorry if you don't want this in an ask but I felt it was more appropriate to send it here than as a comment on your post.
I didn't even know what vore was until today (how tf did I dodge that coming from the spn fandom lmao). One more thing to filter out I guess. Anyways. I assume it's implied that the anon was asking about vore as a sexual kink, otherwise they'd have used other terminology. In this fandom, yes it apparently incriminates people that age up characters. That is a no-no here since the characters are canonically under 18. There's also an assumption in this fandom that minors are not the one creating and/or consuming this content.
"I'm confused, do teenage boys not get hardons?" Apparently in this fandom, no. They don't. Or they do but you can't acknowledge it. (Also, just want you to know that when I read this I legit lol'd. The problem at that age is usu preventing boners. Getting one is easy.)
For some reason, this fandom has deemed violence is more morally/ethically appropriate than even a hint of sexuality. They view that sexualizing characters under 18 in any way, including even kissing (idk if you were here for that), is unacceptable. That being said, that difference in moral/ethical correctness might be marginal. There's still some backlash against violence and dark themes.
It doesn't make sense to me since the show literally has scenes with sex and sex jokes with teenage characters as well as physical and sexual violence against children. Yet. If someone points out or analyzes these things, they will be bullied sometimes to the point of leaving (idk if you were here for hosegate or when people were being called out for analyzing the rape metaphors in s1 and s2). The environment here is such that it is impossible to have a good faith discussion about these topics... And if you can't discuss it bc it's so taboo then exploring these things in writing or art, even if it's just implied, is also taboo. And these are just for the topics already in the show.
Yes like you said it's purity culture. It is funny to me that in this case, cannibalism is OK but vore isn't. And it's also funny to me that a love scene would be less acceptable than cannibalism since sex is not OK (graphic or implied) but violence is OK (graphic or implied). And if fiction tastes reflect people irl (not my belief, but has been a repeated topic of fandom discourse) then the fandom is more OK with cannibalism irl than making love. It's wild.
Sorry for writing so much and getting a bit off topic there 😅
Uhm, THANK YOU SO MUCH for dropping this in my inbox. I completely agree with all of your points.
And pretty much sums up the entire point I've been trying to make since I've been in this fandom. I will never, ever, understand, the very American pov I might add, that approves of violence, lets their children watch violent films and play M rated violent video games, but then won't let those same kids go see the PG 13 or R rated movie because tHe ChAraCteRs HaVe sEx for fifteen seconds. And if it's a movie about a person experiencing sexual violence? Forget about it. That's the only kind of violence they won't let their kids see.
I've seen it time and time again with people in my life, my parents themselves to an extent, and definitely extended family were like that when I was younger.

Hi! Intro post! This top part will b OOC and the cutoff is gonna b IC! Let's get into it!
Another pokemon rp sideblog of @too-many-hyperfixations , who has already created @xxfrosted-heartxx . OOC posts will be tagged Mod Icy Speaks just like my other pokeblog for convenience. Ground rules: Be nice. To me and to each other. Queerphobia, racism, and generally being a jerk is gonna get the block button. IC hate is fine, but keep it IC.
No nsfw. I don't want that here, 'nuff said.
Tag appropriately and yell at me in the notes if I forget to! A tag of PKMN irl helps with posts of this genre that could be unreality. It's dicey territory, but that's what I've read the ppl who benefit from tagging in that way want. If this blog is triggering for you and I haven't tagged right, tell me! Everyone has a right to have their filtered tags work and I don't wanna hurt someone by accident. IC stuff under cut!
Hi! Call me Vapor, you freaks don't get my real name bc I still have a mafia after me and this is the internet. ...They ain't good at being mafia people, but the point stands. Sometimes my gf is gonna wanna yell into my void here and who am I to deny the urge to scream? Cafe updates will be posted here too for those of our patrons who want to know the latest before coming in. If those posts annoy you, just block the tag "Café Updates", which may be a lot bc most of our customers are pokemon and Idk the owners. That said, I'm guessing y'all want more elaboration on the title of this blog. Me and my gf managed to break free of Giovanni's grip with the help of some of our, ahem, gifted patrons. Now we run the cafe together and live on the non-cafe floor! We have an eevee as our companion. He has no desire to evolve, and that's best for all of us because I'm used to normal types as you can imagine. You might be asking why we have no rattata. Seeing as we get to be free from crime, we decided that our rattatas should get to choose if they wanna start a new chapter in their lives with someone else too. Both of them went to a reputable shelter to find someone to live with without worrying about TR sending people after them. As for the space and time thing? Here's a phrase I've learned to use a good amount: Don't worry about it.

diff anon but i agree bcs i had similar experience! 2019 was hell, some ppl on here even refuse to speak of charles by name when talking about him. it was so hard to find ppl who support both seb & charles. but my IRL friends don't know F1, i usually also watch with my dad but he's just a casual fan, so sticking it out here is the only option. now the atmosphere is much better, in part bcs of blogs like you! thank you for simply spreading good vibes & positive energy ❤ (& sebchal worms ofc 👀😳)
Ah, thank you 💕🥺 I’m happy that I can help in some small way! And yes, the worms are vital 👀👀
I’ve heard the same thing, yeah. :/ I understand having favourites - and, equally, having people/characters you just can’t stand - but for the most part if I don’t like someone I just...don’t blog about them? Whereas I feel like some people absolutely revel in their hatred and vitriol and take more pleasure in tearing down the person they dislike (and their fans) than they do talking about things they actually enjoy.
I have to say I’ve been in...worse fandoms in terms of fan behaviour, where bullying was “normalised” by people who felt they had the moral high ground and that their horrific behaviour was somehow “justified” because they were the self-appointed good guys...where influential groups/users actively encouraged witch hunts and harassment and sending threats and all of that disgusting stuff. I’ve seen far too many real people be hurt and made to feel unsafe and uncomfortable in fandom spaces because some of the more rabid fans felt the need to defend fictional characters to the point they blurred the lines between reality and fiction, and on top of that felt absolutely no remorse. But that’s less of a compliment and I guess more of a commentary on what’s, unfortunately, seen as “normal” in certain fandoms/fan communities and...honestly it’s horrifying and inexcusable.
Not to mention the past year has been extremely difficult for a lot of people for a variety of reasons. Many people use fandoms as an escape or respite from their real lives, to talk about the thing they love and share or make content. So I would never want to contribute to making this a negative, unsafe space for anybody, because no one deserves that, regardless of what they ship or who they support. There’s an actual person behind that screen, and some people should really think twice before typing something that could potentially have massive consequences.
But also...I think everyone’s entitled to curating their own online experience by utilising the tools that are there for that purpose. If there’s content out there that’s upsetting to you, or that you’re just tired of seeing, there are ways of filtering tags, either through Tumblr’s built-in feature or third party extensions like XKit. If someone’s behaviour is upsetting to you, there’s always the block feature. It’s not personal, and it doesn’t make you a bad person or anything. Those tools are there for a reason. Just because it’s online doesn’t mean it’s not real or that it can’t hurt, or that your trauma is somehow less valid. Take care of yourself, always 💕

people seem to forget that one the beautiful things about internet nowadays is that you can mostly filter what you want to see or not
i do ship buddie and yes I believe some things are a stretch, but honestly? that's why I'm here and I find it amusing more than the opposite
i don't mind Taylor - I actually like her, even if there's a take or two that I not particularly fond of, and what do I do in this case? I ignore things. I read the beginning and think "ok, this isn't for me" and I just keep scrolling.
I used to not mind Ana either, I'd actually defend her, but then I saw what some disabled people were saying about her character and I decided "well, I'll stop talking about something I don't know" and I stopped engaging with it. But then the thing about GW came out and as a latina i was pretty pissed, so I took to block things about her, since most of the defending didn't feel right to me. And that was it, end of the story.
My problem with all of it is that the 911 fandom today is mostly buddie. and again as much as there many takes i don't agree with, it has to be recognized. There are means to keep in your bubble, mostly because people normally don't want to see things that are buddie negative so they'll avoid you naturally. But when someone posts something that will stir the mood of people and, knowing this, they deliberately put it on the tag where said people are going to see? that's looking for trouble. There's some things I have to say that aren't very popular around here that I don't tag at all because if you decide to fight me on that is because you searched for it or because someone else posted it in the tag - and seriously, go fight them, not me.
What I'm trying to say is that I think we all need to learn how to ignore things better and, more than that, I think that if I want to say my piece I can do it from the safety of my little bubble. And I'm not here to be called racist and misogynistic - which are very serious accusations and people use the words way too freely - just because someone went digging in my blog and decided they could come tell me their opinion.
sorry laying it all out on you Alicia sjshdkjsjs
I'm just tired and pissed and you're been pretty level headed about all of this
oof yeah the whole ana situation especially is so messy tbh bc im right there with you on your opinion on her - i used to be pretty neutral about her but then i saw posts from disabled people in fandom pointing out where she got it wrong in all of 3.12 and became less so. like i didn’t think she was some evil irredeemable monster by any means but the show also never made a point to correct her about it so idk like it’s just not my place to be like “oh it’s fine” bc nothing was ever addressed on that front and it’s not fine clearly
all of that to say that it’s totally understandable why people dislike her and don’t wanna see her on their screens. but i will say that even still, the language that some people use towards her and the way they choose to go after her (on things that are completely separate of those valid criticisms of her) are really gross. so like idk it’s kind of this thing where no i don’t think criticisms of her are inherently misogynistic/racist at all, but just because there *are* valid criticisms of her doesn’t negate the fact that misogynistic/racist language is still used towards her and then dismissed. imo just because a character did something offensive i don’t think it makes sense that we collectively don’t critically think about the way she’s treated by fandom and excuse things that make other communities in fandom (like latinas, for example) uncomfortable and hurt. like i just think about irl if a WOC made an offensive suggestion, it wouldn’t justify attacking them with racist and misogynistic sentiments bc it’s just not fucking necessary to make your point. So that’s kinda where i am with all that
oh and then the whole thing about GW came out and people who aren’t even latinx and clearly don’t actually care about the latinx community (considering the way they talked about ana before they knew all this, or even the way people talked about eddie as well) used that as a shield for their own racism and as a free for all pass to just say whatever the fuck they wanted to say. shdjdks sorry for the mini side rant but this fandom is so frustrating ahaha
but yes also agree that people weaponize big flashy words in this fandom without giving much thought to it lol and yes people also definitely go looking for shit sometimes and that’s entirely their problem. people can post whatever they want and if you go looking in a circle you know isn’t for you then thats on you. and the reverse is true - if you post something negative in a tag that is supposed to be a space for whatever that thing is, that’s also very much on you
