eevee- they just a babyyy and very catlike i think!! very adorable and soft and will be my best companion. i will let them choose on whether or not to evolve :)). my favorite evolutions though (should they choose to or if i just catch one) would be sylveon, glaceon, and espeon

lucario- my boy will protect us with his life i fear and i just like how cool he is and how versatile he can be and the way it's just one of the pokemons where they can learn (and strong ones too) moves from other elements ugh

gardevoir- she is beauty she is grace will knock you on your face if you piss us off <33

( This whole ramble is in the perspective of a casual player/ fan game enthusiast. This isn't exactly talking about competitive pokemon, just how I've used the megas in the fangames/ROM hacks I've played.....this was supposed to just be about Mawile and Heracross but I derailed lmso).

In Which R rambles about mega evolution:

This might be out of nowhere but Heracross and Mawile are my all time favorite megas ever.

Tbf, they are the megas I've most used,but still. I love them so much. Lopunny is probably third bc I love Lopunny lol. Though while it hits hard, I have struggled with it being pretty frail. Maybe I'm not using it correctly ( I think it's more of an end game sweeper than a start off and destroy everything type of pokemon, though I think it's still that too so. Skill issue on my party LMAO)

I haven't used mega Salamence much, but I have been a victim to it. That thing is BRUTAL, and even with the short time I've used it, it's honestly really fun to use.

I don't think mega Garchomp needs to exist tbh. It's a fun power boost when needed, but overall base Garchomp is just better for me. Lucario is also something I felt.....okay, I guess. It's very cool and can really kick ass but I don't feel strongly about it.

Mega Gardevoir and Gallade are kinda similar to Lopunny but in a slightly lesser scale. Gardevoir in particularly I feel was really hyped up to me ( pixilate hyper voice), but when I used it I ended up feeling underwhelmed. Not saying that this a bad mega, far from it. There's a chance that I either am not using Gardevoir properly or I simply don't vibe with it. Gallade, ironically, I feel like I had a better time with. I don't know why Gallade in particular but honestly I had fun using it.

God there's a lot of megas: okay the Hoenn starters and then I'm gonna ramble about Mawile and Heracross

Sceptile: Love the thing, god I don't think the mega really helps it much. The dragon typing is cool, getting rid of some weaknesses but also adding more - I think it's still a very fun pokemon to use, but also. Oof. Sceptile kinda got the short end of the stick.

Blaziken: I keep hearing how good this mega is and guess what? It is! But also not my favorite. From my experiences, Speed Boost only really works if you have a good set up pokemon on the opponents end. I like to use bulk up as a set move along side speed boost which. Honestly it probably why I probably don't think as highly as mega Blaziken despite this thing literally doing full team sweeps for me. I think just the set up takes longer than I would like. I also think Blaziken is just not my cup of tea in general. Very good pokemon, but surprisingly slow despite how it looks, so I've always felt it should be faster than it is. Though I guess that's why it has Speed Boost. All in all, a very good mega, I've definitely had fun with it!

Swampert: I WISH I USED MEGA SWAMPERT MORE MAN. I LOVE THAT THING. My only real core memory of using mega Swampert was I think when I was playing alpha Sapphire for the first time? And even outside of that I've used it occasionally but never really used it as often as I'd like. If I did it would be top 3 megas for me. At least of the one's I've had experience in.

Okay NOW we go back to Heracross and Mawile. Heracross is in general such a fun pokemon to use imo. It kinda checks the boxes of my favorite type of pokemon to use: moderately, can take a hit or two, and hit back very hard. And while it's mega is slower, it doesn't negate from the fact that this thing is a fucking beast. Honestly with or without a mega, why do you think Kenji doesn't mega evolve his Heracross. He doesn't need to, just slap a choice band/ choice scarf on the thing and watch it destroy. Same can be said with mega Heracross but like. 5x that. Also I've realized the error of my ways on dismissing skill link. Crucial error I will never do it again, mega Heracross has that for a reason and it's to destroy.

Mega Mawile is pretty much what all mega evolution should be. Take a honestly bad or mediocre pokemon and give them an extra boost. I think Mawile does that perfectly and GOD, is mega Mawile just a beast. It's not fast, again, but it has sucker punch and huge power so. I don't think I need to worry much there. Play rough and iron head, swords dance if you want to be evil, and man. I just love using this thing. It's so fun. Same can be said with Heracross. These are just pokemon I love to use she would have to be against.

One last note: I have yet to use mega Pinsir, but I hope it's fun if I do.

Wolfe: Fire Type just kinda works here? she takes battling very seriously, but is a bit awkward with the social mess. shes a bit prickly on the outside, but does tend to care a lot about how things are outside. she Does need to be dragged into doing things sometimes though. she seems outwardly bothered by her job, but there is a bit of pride buried underneath all that. TEAM: P!Tauros - Flareon - Houndoom - Magmortar - Incineroar (Signature is Incineroar-- though ive also considered having her be a Dark Type main. the-- Yeah Shes The Mightyena Haver. Yeah Its A Whole Thing.)

Rose: Psychic Type a gym in a large, sprawling atrium/garden. she lies in the middle of a convoluted maze, under a gazebo with a rope swing. she takes it very seriously, despite her outwardly flowery demeanor. she intends to Really test any challengers, and does not hold back. she gives very good advice, and does want to help people get stronger but uh... shes not immune to having a little fun, yknow? TEAM: G!Slowbro - Indeedee - Delphox - Meowstic - Gardevoir/Malamar (Signature is G!Slowbro! she also has a budew, but she doesn't talk about it much. she's had it for a while.)

Lilli: Flying Type oh she is having FUN with this gym leader thing. probably has a fun costume and everything :] id like to believe she has a little bit of contest influence to her deal, shes the one who loves her job most. loves training her team, loves seeing challenger teams, loves hearing challenger stories! thriving. Also She Will Fucking Obliterate You. despite her sillyfun outlook she does Not play around. but she is having fun! :D TEAM: Oricorio / Archeops / Swellow / Salamence / Minior (Signature is Salamence! but she loves her whole team so so dearly.)

Inigo: Ice Type probably one of the most formal of the group. 'normal.' honestly hes just kinda new to the whole thing and figuring it all out. he does his best, but honestly seems kinda distracted sometimes. its a role passed along his family, and he can do it well, but, well, um... um, anyway, really impressive team you have, good job, heres your badge. good luck. :] TEAM: A!Sandslash - Avalugg - Aurorus - Mr. Rime - Lapras (Signature is Avalugg, but the lapras is very important to him too.)

Cocoa: Steel Type most arent even sure shes a gym leader. she just fucking disappears sometimes. shes odd, but very dedicated. rarely speaks, but does what she needs to. she seems almost distracted most times, unless someone actually poses a challenge. ...and then she disappears again. a mystery. (she doesnt have a gym challenge. formally, at least. just fucking finding her is challenge enough-- she just goes around her business not making a big fuss of herself, so people mostly just have to... track her down. she lives in the city though, so uh. good luck. its mostly word of mouth that helps challengers get around and recognize her. she isnt Trying to avoid people, it just... happens. oops ^_^) TEAM: Bronzong / Scizor / Corviknight / Tinkaton / Aggron (Signature is Aggron! though her tinkaton is a fucking Menace on its own too. unrelated, but she also has a spinda she doesnt use for battling that she keeps with her. important :])

Magpie: Normal Type should honestly be a professor… hes just some guy. he helps around a lot, and you only really realize hes the leader once he gets there. he like… actively buries the lead by not mentioning it. he has his “haha im just some lackadaisical guy :)” demeanor on most times, but hes Very skilled at strategizing and quick thinking. …but hes so silly!! ^w^ (he honestly really likes how little people tend to pay mind to normal types. he tends to act like hes not a trainer at all, just a guy who Hears Some Tips Here And There. all fun and games until Silk Scarf STAB Hyper Beam.) TEAM: Porygon2 - Smeargle - Farigaraf - Staraptor/Braviary - H!Zoroark (he has a smeargle out and about most of the time, but his true signature is porygon2.)

Luci: Poison Type she takes rose’s brand of annoying and dials it up to 11. she leads challengers on with ridiculous challenges and puzzles and tricks– just to see what happens :) oh no getting tired?? what a shame! here she was excited to see an interesting match… her team has Incredible synergy, and some fairly good coverage. she takes control and keeps it. she doesnt lose often, but when she does, she Remembers. she is, as they say, A Bit Petty. TEAM: Toxapex/Glimmora - Salazzle - Crobat - Toxicroak - Gengar (Her signature is either Toxapex or Glimmora. whichever i eventually decide fits th bill better. gengar is a pretty close runner-up though.)

1) dragonite. it was always a staple in my team and its abilities were unmatched....i'd grind my dratini as hard as i could bc that was the only way i could beat cynthia’s garchomp (her whole team but esp her garchomp....). having a strong dragon type honestly made me feel invincible. dragonite and empolen were the two powerhouses of my team. also it's shaped like friend

2) piplup my beloved starter <3 water starter superiority

3) absol. something about how it can detect natural disasters with its horn before fleeing into the mountains gives it such a tragic feel.....and the fact that it's seen as a harbinger of doom.....absol get behind me.

4) gardevoir. i always loved gardevoir’s ethereal vibe and the flowy dress and the fact that it can see the future and will give up its life for its trainer.....

5) gothitelle. first of all the design is serving so much cunt second of all: “...unleashes psychic energy and shows opponents dreams of the universe’s end. these dreams are apparently ethereal and beautiful. it acts somewhat detached because it has seen the end of all existence.” hello????? pokemon plagued by beautiful devastating apocalyptic knowledge??? sign me UP

Skeledirge. are we seeing a theme here folks. i like alligators and lizards. it's my favorite new starter and i think it's just so fucking haunting and cool and ghost/fire is a NIGHTMARE typing to go up against.

Gardevoir. i don't think there's a single generation with ralts where i haven't actively sought one out, esp since fairy was introduced as a typing. i love it so much.

Flygon. i never get to use it as much as i want to but its design is truly incredible. i love everything about it. it's such a cool little dragon and having one on the team makes me feel adventurous

My favorite thing to do with ocs when my mind comes around to it is giving personalities to their teams. My latest brain worm is Cande's new team.

Stoutland - Chill but reliable. A very good leader and great at search and rescue missions.

Boltund - A Very Energetic Pupper. Always moving, gets excited easily. Used to alert other rangers if comms aren't working.

Arcanine - Big Gal who's surprisingly bashful, and sometimes is unaware of her size. Tries her best. Good for keeping people warm and caring others on her back.

Gyarados - Certified Puppy. Very sweet and energetic. Used for traveling through water and the sky ( yes Gyarados can fly).

Gardevoir - Generally calm and serene, but also tired of her trainers bullshit. Psychic abilities are good for moving things and are good at emotional support for people and pokemon.

Chesnaught - Friendly fella, loves playing with kids. Tank, good at protecting people and pokemon, as well as having the strength to move debris.

I think the funniest of this bunch is Gardevoir. She's very tired with her trainers recklessness - though it comes from a place of worry. Cande tends to push himself a lot bc of her situation ( her and her siblings are pretty poor, so Cande takes other jobs on top of being a ranger to keep things a float. Xia being sick puts a lot of stress on things, pushing Cande to work harder). Though Chesnaught is usually the one that's stopping her from committing murder lmao. She is. Very tired.

my knowledge of pokemon is SO spotty past the first two gens and most of my knowledge is from my wife so i think most of these are gonna be mostly VIBES instead of specific pokemon so if yall have suggestions im all ears

feon: honestly not sure wjat to do about feon since like… they might just BE a pokemon, you know? like a legendary dragon pokemon with the ability to take human form. but i also feel like that is a really weird answer to give considering all the sex they have with humans.

so assuming they are a trainer, they would definitely have a charizard. feon would pick pokemon that looked really Cool and would probably mostly have dragons.

caed: i think at least for the aesthetic/patriotism he’d have to have at least one pokemon that was dragon and/or fire type. im gonna say he has a centiscorch because devin had one in their sword/shield team and i liked him a lot. and caed would have at least one steel pokemong for sword boy reasons. probably that sword/shield pokemon everyone hates thats just a sword and/or shield.

but also he just has a cubone. for SAD boy reasons.

allene: definitely psychic pokemon!! im not sure which ones. she’d probably want pokemon that could help with her work in one way or another so she’d defs have a rotom. i think that’s how it’s spelled. she’d also have at least one ice type to help her traverse harsh voswainina winters.

lysithea: primary types i can see for her would be fairy, dark, and water. she defs has one of those fancy new rapidashes. maybe a ninetails just bc it suits her idk. the one that looks like a key ring with the headcanon that it could help her pick locks lol

fidelity: i think fidelity has two kinds of pokemon: 1. relatively weak ‘mon that are cute, frequently common/unwanted sometimes early route mon that ppl always try to get rid of, like an unevolved caterpie or furret. does cutiefly fall under this category? i have no idea when in its game it pops up i just know it has fidelity vibes. 2. pokemon abandoned/unwanted by other trainers for various reasons. maybe it looks scary but is weak. maybe it’s just stinky because its a gloom (coincidentally my favorite pokemon when i was a child).

clemence: i have nothing other than new pokemon snap to base this on, but i think she’d have a gardevoir. idk why. just has the right vibes. maybe a carbink idk anything about it but i think clemence would collect rare/lesser seen pokemon, but not necessarily powerful ones. i think she would take pride in finding hidden gems and bringing them into light. not in like a boastful, egotistical way, but clemence is someone who finds satisfaction in polishing and bringing appreciation to the rare gems.

Also was i the only one who just used the same team that i’ve been using this whole time..? (So basically there were no legendaries in my team as i love my team way too much to replace them) I also went in blind and just had mentality to just “go with it” once i realized they were competitive built but i did end up giving items to to those i havent give an item and also try to strategise because i am no competitive player as i cant even build my HSR characters without help. But even if i did beat each elite four + Kieran in one try, i would either have one or two pokemon alive and it was a struggle but hey! It shows you dont need to make a new whole team and that your old team should still be good! (my poor starter keeps dying)

lucario is the objectively correct option to vote for. i like it just fine, and i won't complain about its furrybait design (<- incineroar stan), but like cmon. its the lamest one here and we all know it and we know it. they tried to replace mewtwo with it in smash and ill never forgive that

ok since i’m so hyped here are my predictions for mikus pokemon and designs (and vocaloP) for project voltage: (disclaimer, the vocaloP choices are probably super unrealistic im not super knowledgeable on vocaloP and i don’t know who they could reasonably get this is just my very limited and biased view)

👁️‍🗨️psychic: meloetta (already confirmed)

🌊water: primarina (already confirmed)

🔥fire: skeledirge (already confirmed)

🌱grass: rillaboom (already confirmed)

⚪️normal: ok i’m gonna be pissed if either normal or fairy isn’t jigglypuff. fits the music/singing theme perfectly AND is pokemon #39 which is the miku number. if they’re cowards or put jigglypuff in the fairy slot, then i could see exploud or chatot for the music theme or maybe even lopunny for the twintails? oh or obv farfetchd cuz it was in the kei art. probably farfetchd.

this design might be closest to regular miku. or they take it in a lass/schoolgirl direction?

Oster project would be cute for this one i think! or 40mp

❄️ice: Alolan Vulpix, cuz there was already a pokemon x miku crossover with alolan vulpix. maybe lapras or frosslass or amaura tho if they don’t go with that.

gotta be tons of pale blue, maybe some pink thrown in. i wonder if they’re gonna go with the cute route or the elegant route. ooh maybe she’ll be snow miku-y

👻ghost: i can’t wait to see this one. it’s kinda hard to pick tho? i could see oricorio, but that might be used for the flying spot. gengar is basically the ghost type pokemon so i could see that as well, but i think it’s gonna be rotom. i’ve seen fanmade rotom mikus before and they’re perfect. i hope it’s that

this miku is gonna be so spookyyyy. i’m thinkin a lil mischievous and sharp teeth and stuff. wispy twintails. ik she’s an electric gym leader but iono vibes

🗻ground: this one’s tough. palpitoad/seismatoad fit the music/sound theme but they’re ugly so i’m doubtful. could go for the fan favorite in wooper/quagsire but idk if they would. idk if wooper has the same impact in japan as he does here. nidoqueen maybe? final answer wooper ig

🪽flying: could be farfetchd. i kinda forgot it was also a flying type. i would love oricorio miku tho. ideally with parts of each form incorporated into her design, but if they just stuck to one form, i’d say pom pom for the vibes or sensu for the color.

hello! i've been reading genesis for...oh god, since 2017-2018, i think. and it's been a blast, i love the series a lot! it's a really unique storyline with one of my favorite characters (mewtwo, beloved) and your art is fantastic! i was wondering how much of the storyline you have planned out/had planned out, and how much of it has changed over time? and how far along we are in the storyline/how much is left before the end. i hope you have a good day!

Oh wow, you've been around for a while lol Hi friend!

I'll be honest, Genesis had the most bare bones of starts. I created the characters for what I thought was going to be a one-off costume month long challenge, with some other old ocs to fill out the roster. I had zero plan to create a story with these new characters, since I was brand new to the idea of having a story based off of pokemon game play. I've always been a first and foremost Zelda fan and was actually slowly picking at my own Zelda story at the time but I couldn't quite get the story to go the way I wanted and I was determined to draw that comic first.

And then I drew this:

This is the first time I drew Prime, and a younger M2-K, I think. One of the very few things I drew before I launched into starting Genesis. Y'all might recognize this scene from the first few pages of chapter 2 lol. I was riding off of that high of finishing my first long-term project and now I had somewhere where I could start. So three months after that October challenge, I decided screw it, I'll just draw this pokemon comic as a practice, be done in like 2-3 years, then work on Zelda again. And then lol here we are almost 7 years later.

A lot of my planning has gone like this; I draw a thing, and then work it into the story somewhere like threading pearls on a string, then I add more beads in between the pearls as I go.

So Genesis has points that I know I'm going to hit (the ending has probably the thoroughly written script of all of Genesis and I'm quite happy with it) but a lot of it is in a fuzzy grey area of I only kinda know what's going to happen next, I just need to write how to get there. It keeps me engaged with the story and the few drawings I have as story concepts are the juicy carrots I dangle in front of myself to keep the motivation going even if I'm going through an art rut or if work has been particularly draining.

As for things that have changed? Alcina didn't exist in the beginning. I sketched up a gardevoir gijinka in my sketchbook bc I needed K to talk to someone. And then she stuck around. Heph wasn't originally planned either, and he actually replaced this guy:

Talil was originally going to be the one to fix K's prosthetics, but that's all I really had him around for, and he eventually got scrapped. Which is a real shame, because heliolisk is one of my favorite Kalos mons. I did later use the concept of shorting out K's prosthetics when he fought a luxray in chapter 1.

I can't remember when V came into being, but I think it was sometime after Genesis had started, but well before she was introduced. She was originally supposed to be that one mewtwo from the Genesect movie (and that's where the V in M2-V originated from, M2-K was originally short for Mewtwo-Kalos. And then I made it worse by going alphabetically :) )

As for how much longer are we going to have? We've definitely passed the halfway point. But since I've had a revelation and added [REDACTED] in to the story, chapter 3 got longer unexpectedly and is gonna be split into a surprise fourth chapter. And then an epilogue, but //handwaves that's farther down the line.
