Just fought my way through a dungeon in SWTOR and had to disable consoles along the way to cut off my target's escape routes. Then we worked out a peaceful solution and now he's working for my allies

so why doesn't he open up them escape tunnels so I don't have to fight my way back out of the compound??? I know for a fact that he fixed the damage so he totally could have done me a favor but nooo I have to fight my way back through this really unintuitively organized resistance base >:(

It’ll always piss me off to see people say they can’t relate to a character bc it’s set in certain time periods or bc of their outside characteristics. One of the best things about of fiction to me is that you get to realize that certain things transcend those « barriers ». Don Draper has touched me the most out of any tv character ever and I’m a black gen z Muslim French girl lol just bc it looks like it won’t be relatable to you does mean it’s not something worth discovering and watching. And even if you can’t relate to something that does not mean the humanity and soul behind the creation isn’t worth the try. Always Looking for something you relate to is a boring way to experience media and will only reduce your horizons

I'm pretty sure there won't be any new star wars stuff that I will get into, because ever since disney took over their content has very much been going downhill, and I just feel like just due to the nature of the system (disney controls star wars and disney also primarily is motivated by profit and cares more about not rocking the boat than making good quality stuff, etc. etc.) it's kind of impossible for anything they make to be good because it's missing the care and heart that star wars originally had.

like stuff is good because it's got heart and if it's got that it doesn't matter if there are plot holes or bad special effects or whatever. and if it doesn't have heart it doesn't matter how cool all the bells and whistles are because it'll still feel empty.

literally none of the new canon besides some of the early disney stuff like Rebels, Rogue one, and bits and pieces of the sequels is anything I care about. I care far more about stuff that isn't even canon anymore and the stuff that is canon now is just ok. Especially it's disheartening that SWTOR, which tbh is my favorite bit of Star Wars, just got completely nixed and replaced by the High Republic. Which maybe it's decent, maybe it isn't, but either way I can't look at it without being reminded that it's replacing my favorite part of Star Wars.

Which would be fine, except that someday SWTOR servers will shut down, and the sequels/hux fandom will slow down and shrink as the movies get farther away and everyone moves on, and then I won't be able to do Star Wars at all anymore, really and that's depressing.

sirius never thought he would stand face to face with regulus again.

they had been ambushed. they had gone out to celebrate the fact that james was going to become a father soon and, mere seconds later, the death eaters had made their way into the pub. they managed to help the muggles escape; however, regulus was standing in front of sirius, his wand pointed at his brother's throat.

regulus had changed. his hair was longer, and his usual elegance had been replaced by something disheveled, and a glint of madness in his dark eyes. his eyebrows knitted together, and there was something sad, something pitiful in his look.

"i could kill you," regulus hissed, regaining his composure, and his wand was in the hollow of sirius' throat. "i could kill you right now, and i would never regret it."

"do it," sirius sneered, putting his hands over his head, his back against the wall, and grinning at his brother. "come on, kill me off if you're so brave, little king."

he let his wand fall to the ground and kicked it with the side of his foot, landing somewhere about three metres away from them.

"i'm defenseless." sirius said, and regulus was glaring at him. "and yet, you're not acting up on that desire. despite how much you want to believe it, you're still the same meek, obedient boy you've always been. they haven't changed you, regulus."

regulus looked him in the eyes, and, lowering his hand, he dropped his wand. "go," he whispered, and there was a certain urgency in his voice. "i'll tell them you ran off, you're more powerful than i am, anyways."

sirius let out a low chuckle. "that might have been the bravest thing you ever did," he said, and, leaving, he squeezed regulus' arm reassuringly, right where the dark mark was etched in his brother's skin. "you know where to find me."

as he escaped behind the wall of the factory, he heard regulus saying he escaped, and deep within him, sirius grinned, and remembered when he and his little brother (could he even call him that now? he had matured, and there was an aching beauty in that, how regulus was not the boy he used to be, once.) used to love each other.

genuine question but is there any fandom where a character is well written by the majority. im thinking about fandom culture and the spread of frustration when people dont write characters well but. honestly in all the fandoms ive been in there's only like, a Select number of authors who i trust to write Well, let alone write Well AND In Character. character analysis and writing and getting inside characters' heads are all separate skills (all of which are trained by roleplaying fyi can CONFIRM playing pretend with your friends is good for you). there's been more than once where I've disagreed with an interpretation that others agreed with, and then I turned out wrong. or i turned out right. like it doesnt matter WHO is right it just matters that differences in character analysis exist, so even if you DO write well AND write in character, your in character is still going to be someone else's out of character

there's this sort of. vibe. that to play in the sandbox you Need to be able to make a castle, and if you can't make a castle then you shouldn't bother, and it completely dismisses the idea that youre in that sandbox to PLAY in the first place. there's this Weight of disappointing someone if you can't build something that they like, but that forgets that you aren't there to build them a castle. like, be KIND. if you disagree with someone then please make an effort to do so kindly. i dont give a shit about fandom discourse but there is a reason kids get removed from sandboxes if they keep throwing sand in people's eyes. but if they don't like your misshapen sand pile, then youre not obligated to change it. even if you yourself end up hating that same sand pile later- youre not building a legacy. youre playing. and sometimes the result of that play is out of character drivel. theres a reason there are so many authors and so few who i like to consistently read and thats because everyone is Fucking Around in their hobby space. hash tag brag or whatever but i can build castles. ive built several that im v proud of. ive also dug holes in the sand for fun and then tripped on them when trying to get up. I often dug a hole and then got up and fucking- whoops, its a castle now, and i didn't realize i'd made something to be proud of until after the fact. the whole time while creating shit i was Convinced it was bullshit that didn't make sense. and then other times i was Convinced it was bullshit and then i was Right and i can look back and go. huh. ew. but it doesn't matter what the end result was, because i had fun playing in the sandbox

this wasn't meant to turn into a ramble but i have Feelings about bad art and art that's badly perceived and how public perception can screw with your head and how making art youre proud of is fucking. it's so difficult!!! it's hard!! it's really fun, which is why i try to make it, but i promise you it is Okay to not tryhard creativity. even if you CAN, it's okay not to do it all the time. or ever, even. fuck around find out have fun etc
