NOTES: Act one has three major blackouts: the scene between Arabian Nights and One Jump Ahead, the scene between One Jump Ahead and Proud of Your Boy, and the last 22 minutes of the act, which is all of Friend Like Me and Act One Finale. There is also a head that blocks center stage and the action is often lost behind it. Act two is much better with no blackouts and only some heads on the bottom that are worked around well. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. There’s a lot of chatter and rustling from the audience, but the sound is otherwise excellent. Includes playbill scans.

NOTES: Closing show! Or “rock concert” if you ask Christy Altomare. Yeah so this is a pretty obstructed video. Everyone was really excited so people were standing up, people were moving around, and honestly I had a little trouble paying attending to my viewfinder with all of the tears streaming down my face. Like Beetlejuice I would say it’s mostly like highlights, but all of the things that happen in the center part of the stage are captured really well and the video is DEFINITELY Christy centric. “Journey to the Past” is complete and gorgeous and you will cry. First act starts around when Anya meets Dmitry and the second act starts during “Crossing A Bridge.”

Helpless When She Smiles… Second single from Unbreakable. Even tho the song itself is beautiful, this was a terrible choice for a second single. Any Other Way, Panic, or Unmistakable (if they really wanted another ballad) were single material. I would say Something That I Already Know, but the chorus sounds a lot like Inconsolable. Also, I didn��t know til much later on but this is actually a cover. Yep. BSB didn’t have a cover for Never Gone (although if they’d stayed the course, Don’t Disturb This Groove would’ve been an official cover). But I digress. This is a cover of the original version by the Dutch singer Bastiaan Ragas.

AJ starts the song off after the lovely piano opening. So he’s talking about a very enigmatic woman. She has secrets. She doesn’t tell the truth but at the same time she doesn’t quite lie. She hurts him and he thinks he might leave but… she comes back. AJ sounds addicted to her. Not good, dude.

Here comes the chorus with Nick leading. And they’re tossing metaphors at us. They sound so whipped by this chick. Worst part is that they clearly know they are. That’s that classic BSB self-awareness for you. House of cards, reckless fire… This all tells me they are weak in the face of this woman. She can literally do anything and they’ll just be like “okay.”

Brian sounds constipated in this song. It sounds like he’s not breathing properly or something. But Howie is in the background doing marvelous things. This is not a healthy relationship at all. But they appear to like being this girl’s pawn. All she has to do is snuggle up close and bat those pretty eyelashes at him. Or in this case, smile.

There’s another chorus and a short guitar solo before Howi hits us with…

When she looks at me I get so weak

That’s been more than obvious.

They do the chorus once again with everyone giving various ad libs every so often. Then it ends. This relationship sounds kinda one-sided. She definitely doesn’t seem that into them as they are to her. She is clearly not treating them well and taking advantage of them but… She has a pretty smile. All she needs to do is flash those pearly whites.

It’s funny because in the video the girl never actually smiles.

The ending of this song is second on the list of most beautiful endings after Show Me. It’s tied with What Makes You Different. Tbh it’s more about the arrangements in the background. I can excuse Nick’s I have a bad cold singing in this case. But it’s just so pretty. Kudos to whoever did that arrangement.

Still, I will make another masterlist here, copying the info from my German musicals with English subs post and adding here also the ones in French and Russian and Hungarian. As before, There’s multiple versions for some musicals and if you want my personal correction of which to watch, based on the quality of the video, accuracy of the subtitles, and overall cast and design, I’ve put a 💙 emoji next to them. Actually, I’m putting a 💙next to all my favourites that I’d recommend the most.
