Aubrey. I wouldn't say that I hate-hate her, but the way everyone acts and treats her makes me dislike her by a lot. Characterization is something I see quite often, especially in ships, that many people seem to get wrong. I'd say more but I know some people will be quick to hop on and rant to me about how I'm wrong (especially proving my point on them).

I think only a few people actually manage to make me like her, such as @navi-is-tired teehee

Anything that makes Basil be a scaredy cat, all smiley, fixing his childhood by making his parents good, etc etc. like it's not my cup of tea. BASIL. I’m sorry but like… He isn’t a scaredy-cat, far from that, actually. He’s braver than SUNNY, he isn’t scared of much. Most of his fears come from feelings such as trusting, abandonment, not stuff like horror, fire, even death, probably. He won’t forgive everyone in the friend group fast, he won’t! Especially someone like AUBREY. The friend group won’t go back together easily, maybe it shatters, maybe it doesn’t. BASIL won’t magically get better post-game either. There needs to be a lot for him to be like that again.

OKAY so like.

… There’s a lot of things I hate about fanon. A lot, really. So let’s start with the first one. BASIL isn’t at all a scaredy-cat. He teases SUNNY a lot for things he fears, but at the same time, helps him through it. He acts as a guide to SUNNY, both pre-incident and post-incident. He isn’t scared, he’s brave, he won’t be that scared of dead bodies, gore, blood. And stuff like that. BASIL isn’t just a cute uwu boy, nor is he an unforgivable demon. He is neither of these. He is not “more feminine” than SUNNY either, SUNNY is a lot more feminine, even having a potion where he turns into a girl in his headspace.

He is not obsessed with SUNNY, either. He’s really not. BASIL is understandably scared of leaving, and Sunflower isn’t a codependency, either. BASIL is understandably stressed from the fact that SUNNY is leaving and he’s the only other one who knows the truth of the incident aside from him and he doesn’t want to be the only one in faraway who knows about the incident. He also doesn’t know that they would reveal the truth at some point, which adds to it. BASIL is not the one obsessed with SUNNY, and SUNNY is most definitely not the normal one. One of SUNNY’s only reasonings for coming out of his house is because the desire to save HS!BASIL did carry over to RW!BASIL. KEL is not the only reason SUNNY came out, and he is most certainly not the only one who kept SUNNY alive. SUNNY also do remembers so much about BASIL. His taste in food, his taste in fruits/vegetables, his favorite food, his opinions on smoothies, his photo album. BASIL is “different” from the rest of the friend group because he looks physically different, and their relationship is different as well.

SUNNY doesn’t hate BASIL. SUNNY really doesn’t! He forgives BASIL, even hugging him after he stabbed his eye out. If anything, BASIL would be the one to have emotions like that for SUNNY, but it does have to be pretty repressed.

… Another worst part of Fanon is where BASIL is portrayed as weak, helpless and needs his SUNNY/AUBREY/KEL to stand up for him. He can stand up for himself, really. The thing is with him, is that he thinks that he deserves the mistreatment.

BASIL, I guess? I mean he’s my blorbo but at times he’s portrayed as “soft, cute, helpless, weak, and scared” a lot of times. BASIL would not cry in SUNNY’s arms after a horror movie man. He really wouldn’t. If anything, SUNNY would be the one to.

if we're talking younger KEL, he definitely pisses his pants mid-movie, but older KEL has matured (at least a bit) so he probably won't be affected

she isn't affected at all, but she does get a bit embarrassed when you hug her arm

"fight for you? i'd beat the shit out of anyone that tried to touch you." she squeezes you tighter, because she knows you'd do the same for her.

i cant decide if she isn't scared of it at all or is scared but doesn't show it,, so that's up to you

MARI

she chuckles and makes a bet with you

she giggles when you hug her before the movie even starts.

"oh? looks like i won that bet, huh?" she laughs again

afterwards, she'll hold you tight and snuggle you if you get particularly jumpscared

Sunnflower Headcanons- Movies

Happy birthday to the most rockin person I know!!! @posebean you are creative, you are lovely, and let’s be real I kind of owe you for the little nudges you gave me to get more involved and now we have this amazing friendgroup and friendship...just wowowow. Take some of your faves

Kel and Sunny are the ones in the friendgroup who most enjoy a movie, and when Sunny and Basil start dating they begin to have a standing Thursday night movie date.

They sit in Basil’s living room with various snacks around them curled up together under a thick blanket. They watch through the entirety of the Disney franchise, a handful of truly bad romcoms, comedy movies that cause Sunny to chuckle (the mark of a fantastic comedy) and oddly enough, every single fast and the furious movie. 

It’s great, the best part of both of their weeks. They get to just turn off and not talk for a few hours. They cuddle, alternating who holds who, and almost always end up falling asleep together on the couch. 

There is one single hiccup to movie nights- scary movies. 

As I’ve said before I think Sunny is a total horror movie nut, but I think Basil totally hates them. He’s already a pretty nervous guy, and horror movies would only make that ten times worse. After what happened with Mari, his fear and aversion turns into a whole phobia. But he loves Sunny and he knows Sunny enjoys them a lot, so he ends up in a conundrum. 

Sunny has told Basil a thousand times that he doesn’t care if they don’t watch anything scary, and that he’s unattached to what they watch on their movie nights. He just likes to spend time with Basil and the rest of the group. Basil however is determined to get over his fears. 

Basil asks the Hooligans (the only group of people he knows who would be dumb enough to agree to his plan) to come to his house and watch scary movies with him. Exposure therapy right?

Wrong. 

They’re only about 45 minutes into the first movie before angel is shrieking, Mav is hiding behind the couch, Kim is yelling at Vance for picking such an awful movie, and Basil is just hiding his face and shaking. Kim, the only non scaredy cat in the room, calls Aubrey who in turn calls Kel who had been hanging out with Sunny. All three of them go to visit their blonde friend, who is sitting on the couch surrounded by Hooligans in various states of distress

Aubrey handles her friends, Kel deals with the mess aroudn the room and putting on a better movie, and Sunny takes care of Basil. 

He brings Basil’s hands down from his eyes and holds them both in his own hands, staring at his boyfriend and waiting for him to speak. That’s their way- Sunny doesn’t talk and Basil talks too much. Finally he explains his plan. That he had just wanted to watch something Sunny would like. That Sunny shouldn’t have to watch the same things just because Basil was afraid. 

Sunny reassures Basil that he doesn’t really care about what they watch, and he doesn’t really like to watch horror movies with anyone but Kel anyway. They have a system of their own. Their movie night is more about being together, getting to just be the two of them. That means all the parts- including Basil’s endearing fright around anything with so much as a slight jumpscare. 

Basil feels stupid for causing such a ruckus, but Sunny just kisses his forehead and makes room for himself on the couch next to Basil, who turns into his arms automatically. By this point Kel has put on a movie that is more Basil’s speed. Something animated and soft with a happy ending. Aubrey and the hooligans have stopped yelling by this point and they become transfixed by what’s happening on the screen, crowding around the couch and beginning to demand the popcorn from one another. 

Basil settles his head against Sunny’s chest and closes his eyes. The visions he would normally see after a horror movie are non existent, washed away by the warmth of his boyfriend and the comfort of their friends all around them. He falls asleep before the movie is halfway done
