"Hi. ❤️ Once you get this you have to say five things you like about yourself, publicly, then send it to 10 of your favorite followers!"
Sent by: zehrathezebra basicallyanythingcute sharbalibiya <3
1. I like that I'm an awkward, unusual person (even if others don't).
2. I like my taste in people. I feel like a Mom because they're always on point on whether you're best friend is a backstabbing beotch or an angel descended from the heavens.
3. I like that I'm kind of a pushover, but that's better than the opposite right?
4. I like my knack for writing.
5. I like my hands. Lol is that weird..they're like the perfect size, not too big and not too small.
Thanks for sending this :)

After seeing so many, let me kind here, uhm, questionable posts about women from men and women, I must say, I can never imagine myself being with a man who doesn’t support feminism (aka: equality, and a little thing called common sense).

For a few days last week and this past Monday, I worked with a student who will be going into his freshman year, I believe. We got all of the assignments done, and I thought the sessions were going well. He’s a sweet, quiet kid who did his work when I asked him to. We (the clinicians) were warned that he is extremely close with his over-protective mother, and that he tells her practically everything. None of my conversations with him worried me if they were to get back to his mom. Keep in mind, clinicians do not directly speak to the parents. So, the next day, his consultant (my boss) came to tell me that she had been on the phone with his mother for almost an hour the evening before. The mother was apparently saying all the things she wanted us to change, and then she brought up “the Indian girl” who worked with her son.
My boss couldn’t figure out who she was talking about and she was wondering, “Did he read some story about Pocahontas or something?” Then his mom said that girl comes in “all of her cultural clothes” to work, and then my boss realized she was talking about me. Those “cultural clothes” would by my hijab, aka, the headscarf I wear because I am a Muslim woman.
My boss told her that, and his mom said, “Oh, no, I’ve seen her come in all of her regalia before!” Uhm, first, who says regalia?! And, second, okay, my dress code at work is business casual, even if I WANTED to come in my cultural clothes, I wouldn’t be allowed to! Who knows what her son actually said, but I doubt he said anything along those lines. My boss then told me the mom said that, apparently, my headscarf distracted her son from getting his work done. Nah, lady, your son is just trying to find excuses to not do his work, even though, he actually got it all done when he was working with me. 🙊 My co-workers were offended that his mom said that, but, honestly, I laughed SO hard at it!

Do not confuse accepting yourself with stopping your own growth–whether it’s personal, spiritual, social, whatever growth you may be searching for. Do not stop growing as a person thinking that it means you are accepting yourself. Accept yourself for the things you cannot change and do not have control over. You can accept yourself and still continue to grow. Accepting yourself doesn’t mean you accept where you are and then just stop; it means accepting where you are and how you got there and appreciating it for what it is, and then taking all of that to continue moving forward.

You don't care, but I'm sharing anyway:
Bhabhi* and I are learning/teaching ourselves how to sew! I'm super excited! We're learning the basics and then we're gonna try desi clothes! ☺️
P.S.: There’s this great lady on YouTube with the username Chic Francisco (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbcrCHPGSWLwJKpDC_I47YQ) who we are currently watching, in case you want to try to learn, too! (:

At the doctor's office in the waiting room, and I sneezed and the man sitting across from me from said, “Alhumdulillah.” 😊 I love fellow Muslims (and/or non-Muslims who have knowledge about Islam) who do things like that! Saying “Alhumdulillah” when someone sneezes or saying “Assalaamu alaikum”—like, just now! A hijabi just walked out, so we both smiled and said Salaam. 💕 I don't know, it just makes my heart feel happy when people do things like that(:

I’m trying to find the people and things that make me happy and push me to better myself so that I can keep them in my life. I’m trying to let go of those who hold me down and bring out my insecurities because I’m tired of having negativity around me. If I don’t talk to you now, there’s probably a reason why—whether we grew apart, or I didn’t like how you treated me, or because I’m testing you and our friendship—there’s a reason. I’m tired of living like I did when I was a kid. It’s time to grow up and grow as an individual. Part of the reason I am letting go is to find out who will continue to hold on. I thank God for the good people and good things in my life and I pray He continues to grant me (and you) such beautiful blessings.
