Due to recent experiences, I am feeling an urge to make an anti-drug-style PSA except it's warning impressionable machine-learning-curious teens to never, ever try a thing called "Huggingface transformers Trainer"
Not. Even. Once.

I dont know if anyone noticed in the manga but in ROR, Apollo was known as a "an ordinary God who had nothing".
Chapter 82
Tumblr media
Who had nothing.
You're telling me that sunshine pink lovable boy Apollo was born DOMAINLESS ??
Cause what else would a "God who had nothing" mean other than being domainless ?
From the myths we know that :
When Athena came out from Zeus's head, she declared herself the Goddess of Wisdom and War
When Artemis was born she immediately aided her mother in the birth of Apollo, she was born as Goddess of Childbirth before she became Goddess of the Hunt.
And then we have ROR Apollo who was born basically useless, which is why his hard-working makes more impact now that I think about it.
Dude went from 0 a literal nobody to an Olympian with pure hard-work, he worked for his titles and powers. Do you know how much you need to be mentally strong for that ?
Cause you can't tell me he wasn't mocked in his early days !
I mean just look at what kids do in school, the teacher calls you up, you make a mistake then you become the target of mockery for a whole week or worse you become target for bullying the whole entire year (or even years if you stay at said school).
Apollo must have faced the same thing from Gods and instead of spiraling into depression he decided to ignore them and pursue his dream of becoming someone. (Of course we don't know if he got bullied but honestly I can't see it otherwise.)
Meanwhile Myth/PJO Apollo was born a God of Archery and 3 days old killed python then 3 years later became Olympian cause his daddy is Zeus ... and that's it ?
While ROR Apollo was born to be ... well just there, he had to learn Archery from scratch to become the god of it, he had to learn medicine from the bottom to the top to become the god of it, he trained day and night and it was thought pure hard-work that he became an Olympian not because his old man was Zeus, he is an Olympian because he deserves that seat.
And this is why I love the dude !

Silly Atem headcanons
He’s always loved wearing dark clothing. He didn’t get to in Egypt because wearing black in Egypt? Not the best idea.
The first upside he discovers when he gets his own body: piercings & tattoos.
He and Yugi have a duel to decide who gets the top bunk bed.
He likes seeing depictions of Ancient Egypt in media. Of course he points out a LOT of the inaccuracies, but he enjoys the stuff. He laughs at old mummy horror flicks and thinks the pyramids in Sonic the Hedgehog are fun. He also really likes Raiders of the Lost Ark (he doesn't know if there was a real Staff of Ra, but he really wishes he had one) and LOVES The Prince of Egypt (he tears up every time he rewatches it).
But he's not the least bit amused by the conspiracy theories about aliens and Ancient Egypt. It's one of his worst triggers. The first time he heard about it was when Jonouchi showed him Ancient Aliens for fun. At first, he thought it was funny. Until he found out some people actually believed in it. Let's just say don't ever bring it up, unless you want to send Atem into a two hour long rant.
Museums are an interesting experience. To give you an idea of what he would be like visiting a museum featuring Egyptian artifacts:
Tumblr media
He’s a Disney princess. He loves animals and is friends with them. He will stop and admire a beetle or a lizard he comes across, he feeds the birds at the park, and he's basically the King of Games AND Cats. And he's the same with animals that most people wouldn't consider 'pet friendly'. He will gladly give a lion scritches on the head and snuggle a python.
However, he doesn't love all of them. If there's one thing Atem's really afraid of, like have an actual phobia of, it's crocodiles (and gators by extension). He's from Ancient Egypt, after all. He would be kinda like FX'S Archer:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Atem can easily hold his own in a fight, even kill a man himself. Being a prince of Egypt, he was trained in combat and warfare, from hand-to-hand to sword fighting. Even when he’s lost his memories, he still can fight from muscle memory (“Where did you learn how to do that!?” “I don’t know!”).
HATES the cold. He bundles himself up as much as possible during the winter and prefers to stay inside under a heated blanket or near a space heater with a cup of cocoa.
His first time visiting a Christian church is...interesting, to say the least. He likes how it reminds him of the Ancient Egyptian religion because of the hymns, incense, wine and bread, and processions. It does get awkward: like when the plagues of Egypt come up, or every time Atem asks questions about ANYTHING, or when he learns about Jesus Christ ("He sacrificed himself and was resurrected to save humanity." "Hey, me too.")
The photo album on his phone is a lot like a middle aged dad’s. It’s mostly cats, scenery, or Yugi and the gang, and a bunch of them are out of focus or aimed wrong. He almost never takes selfies and he looks surprised or confused in a lot of the ones Yugi takes with him.
He likes watching old movies or listening to records from Grandpa Muto’s collections. This is how he becomes a Rolling Stones fan. Yugi and Anzu are also able to find modern music he would be into, like Seal and David Bowie. He also likes listening to Taylor Swift with Anzu. Jonouchi introduces him to Nickelback as a joke, but Atem ends up liking them.

Danny becomes ghost king and that comes with quite a few perks.
A huge power boost from the crown and ring, he’s pretty much the most dangerous ghost in the zone.
The keep and all that exists on that floating island is his and it is a massive castle/fortress that magically provides everything a king could want inside without need of upkeep.
The power to transform himself into a gigantic, terrifying Eldritch abomination to enforce his will upon others.
Many ghosts now treat him with respect, bow before him and do as he commands
BUT the vast majority of ghosts DON’T.
You see the zone has been without a ruler for so long. Most denizens don’t want a new one. Danny may technically be their king.  He can technically force all the ghosts to do as he says with pure might on his side.  But on a good day roughly 85% of all ghosts throughout the zone have decided “Screw that, I didn’t vote for him.”
It’s essentially that whole scene in ‘Monty Python and the Holly Grail’. “Beating up the previous monarch and stealing his hat and jewelry is no basis for a proper government.”
Danny’s already busy with his human life and protecting Amity park from ghosts who are still going about attacking the town like nothing’s changed.  Does he REALLY want to deal with the hassle of collecting taxes from those who already hate him enough, or making and enforcing laws when he’s in no way trained to be a ruler? Hell no, he’ll take all the perks and if there’s ever an emergency, he’ll force his will to be done, but beyond that, he’s an all powerful king who’s basically treated as just another ghost in the zone by most.
Now that that’s all set up, lets get into my pitch for a crossover.  Someone from another franchise ends up teleported to the ghost zone and Danny needs to get them home escorting them through the infinite realms running into all sorts of ghost along the way.
“I thought you said you were the king here?”
Danny: “Sigh, it’s complicated.”
Johnny: “He is. He’s just also the king of little bitches.”

fwiw and i have no idea what the artists are doing with it, a lot of the libraries that researchers are currently using to develop deep learning models from scratch are all open source built upon python, i'm sure monsanto has its own proprietary models hand crafted to make life as shitty as possible in the name of profit, but for research there's a lot of available resources library and dataset wise in related fields. It's not my area per se but i've learnt enough to get by in potentially applying it to my field within science, and largely the bottleneck in research is that the servers and graphics cards you need to train your models at a reasonable pace are of a size you can usually only get from google or amazon or facebook (although some rich asshole private universities from the US can actually afford the cost of the kind of server you need. But that's a different issue wrt resource availability in research in the global south. Basically: mas plata para la universidad pública la re puta que los parió)
Yes, one great thing about software development is that for every commercially closed thing there are open source versions that do better.
The possibilities for science are enormous. Gigantic. Much of modern science is based on handling huge amounts of data no human can process at once. Specially trained models can be key to things such as complex genetics, especially simulating proteomes. They already have been used there to incredible effect, but custom models are hard to make, I think AIs that can be reconfigured to particular cases might change things in a lot of fields forever.
I am concerned, however, of the overconsumption of electronics this might lead to when everyone wants their pet ChatGPT on their PC, but this isn't a thing that started with AI, electronic waste and planned obsolescence is already wasting countless resources in chips just to feed fashion items like iphones, this is a matter of consumption and making computers be more modular and longer lasting as the tools they are. I've also read that models recently developed in China consume much, much less resources and could potentially be available in common desktop computers, things might change as quickly as in 2 years.

and still I'm hung up on this video!
youtube
And guess what? I have another theory!
So, as you can see by the title, it's about who Macaque made a deal with. And if you watch the video, you'll find out it was with none other than Python Demon! Who's that? Well, basically a big red snake demon with very similar abilities to Macaque. But what if I told you I don't believe Macaque made a deal with this demon but was instead trained by him?
It would explain why he sounds fairly confused by Xiang Liu's question annnd this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, here's what I'm getting at, we all remember that memory Wukong witnessed in the pagoda, right? The one where Macaque was laughing like a maniac? Well consider the following, what if, after a long time of training with the Python Demon, Macaque eventually decides to go off and do his thing (attacking the pilgrims.) He and Wukong fight, and, let's say, Wukong says something that sends him off the edge.
Making his powers go haywire as well because of all the strong emotions he's feeling, similarly to Mk above.
Link to my first theory:

Since I like the idea that Hera genuinely cares about Leo, I've also thought about ways she might show it and. And I've decided that, Understanding that becoming 16 is Important for mortals, she basically dropped a basket with a pair of peachicks in Leo's lap for his birthday
They're an Indian peacock and peahen pair from the same clutch that he's named Gear and Tinker and they are his babies
They're also, while mortal, not exactly Normal™ as they're smarter than an average peacock
They were also slightly confused about being Gryphons due to being raised alongside Heloise and Abelard's chick but have eventually stopped trying to collect chunks of gold bigger than them
Gear is more mischievous while Tinker is more aggressive and reserved
They will both jump on Leo's unsuspecting back, though
He started training his balance and awareness for the sake of not being constantly knocked to the ground
Georgie likes playing tag with them even though sometimes they peck too hard and leave marks
They both adore Annabeth but despise Thalia
Their opinion of other non-Waystation residents depends on how many treats they give them
Y'know how a lot of zoos have free-roaming peacocks?? Yeah, that's what happens once Leo and Calypso finally open up their store; wherever you look in the store, they're There
Leo also brings them along when hanging out with the local foster/homeless kids and they adore the attention
Tinker will steal food from your plate if you look away for one second (peafowl are, in fact, omnivores that will eat anything if given the chance)
Gear is more picky
Apollo really likes them because they will commit war crimes to get rid of any snake they see; he thinks they'd have been a big help against Python
Gear keeps trying to steal Lit's sword with the Gryphon chick's help
Josephine is adored above all but Leo for always sneaking them extra food
Emmie is mildly disliked because she keeps trying to stop it; she's very good at helping them preen, though, so she gets a pass
Sssssarah avoids them because they will attack her if no one else is around
Tinker dislikes Jamie for no known reason but Gear loves him
Calypso doesn't know how to act around them. She has tried everything to win them over. They don't seem to hate her, but they're certainly not fawning for her attention unless she has food either. Leo finds her concern about getting them to love her funny but tries to help anyway
Tinker will fight the battle ostriches if left unsupervised
I might add more if I come up with anything else

Hi! You mentioned there are online tutorials/sites for learning Comp Sci and OSINT - any recommendations? Thanks!
Hi! You got lucky that today is the day I check my inbox lol. So. For comp-sci: - CS50X from Harvard is a public avaiable course on youtube I'd 100% recommend. These are the undedited (so far) lectures of 2024: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LPJfIKxwWc&list=PLhQjrBD2T381WAHyx1pq-sBfykqMBI7V4&ab_channel=CS50
This gives you all the basics you need to understand how coding and pcs in general works. (I had comp sci in my university course)
- Freecodecamp is a website full of FREE tutorials on several programming language. Advice: learn python. You will understand later on.
- The rest really depends on what you actually want to learn and why - each programming language has its own purpose and application. OSINT: -There is this full course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwA6MmbeGNo&t=205s&ab_channel=TheCyberMentor (But you can find more on youtube.) - Bellingcat's resources: https://www.bellingcat.com/category/resources/ -IntelTecniques: https://inteltechniques.com/ - Osint Newesletter: https://osintnewsletter.com/
But here is the catcher: if you plan to do osint it heavily depends on where you live. I'm in Europe, so it means I'm under GDPR, therefore I must abid to stricter regulations than a US OSINT analyst. A lot of data that might be considered public domain in the US(big one: conviction records) are not in europe, and you won't be able to access it unless you are a registered private investigator at least (but in my case it's rare that I go after people, that's not a part of any task I might encounter at work). Not only that, but a lot of the avaiable tools are designed to work only with specific countries in mind for various reasons and there is a big bias on US-based investigations. If youre' not in the US I recommend you reach out to your local OSINT or cybersecurity professionals association, they usually have resources and specific information, a lot of times for free. Also keep in mind: OSINT has a lot of different applications and it depends on what you're doing with it. Journalists might work more with satellites and images (a thing I know nothing about), debunkers will definitely understand social media more, if you do business intelligence you will look more at news sites, trademarks and deposits and so on to reach your conclusion. You did your course... Now what? I recommend getting on CTFs, like tracelabs that I've linked above, but there many of them (osint dojo for example) or Kase Scenarios. These are safe environments to practice on (except for tracelabs since it deal with actual cases of missing people and it can lead to... not so good leads, allow me to leave it there) You should also understand how intelligence (as the discipline) works. There are several resources, but my favourite is definitely Psychology of Intelligence Analysis. It's a series of declassified training documents from CIA analyst Richard Bauer, that was based on Daniel Kahneman (yes, the "thinking fast and slow" author, and I also do recommend this book) research on euristics. Intelligence is fundamental because OSINT might be helpful to gather the data, but the data then needs to be processed, analysed and you also need to get a conclusion from that analysis. Studying intelligence will help you avoid a lot of pitfalls that happens when you do an investigation, such as not understanding when you know enough, if you're being a victim of your own bias, if you're missing something or if you're going with the right approach. But I have to admit that the best of training I've received so far is from my local OSINT association because I've been able to train with people that work(ed) in the military, get their advice and have a deep understand of the work itself (and the reason why I have decided to actually make cyber threat intelligence my job, even if I work for a private company and I have no interest in working for the government). And yes ethics is a big thing for the OSINT community.
I hope this is helpful enough!

Error Handling in Python: Try, Except, and More
Python, like many programming languages, uses error handling to catch and manage exceptions, preventing your programs from crashing. By implementing proper error handling, you can ensure smoother user experiences and more maintainable code. In this blog, we will dive into the basics of handling errors in Python using the try, except, finally, and else blocks.
Tumblr media
Basics of Error Handling in Python
Errors or exceptions in Python come in many forms: ValueError, ZeroDivisionError, FileNotFoundError, etc. The simplest way to handle these errors is by using a try and except block.
try:
    x = 10 / 0
except ZeroDivisionError:
    print("You can't divide by zero!")
In this example, the code inside the try block attempts to divide by zero, which would normally cause a crash. However, with except, the program catches the ZeroDivisionError and prints a user-friendly message.
Multiple Exceptions
You can handle multiple exceptions by specifying them in the except block or by using separate blocks.
try:
    x = int(input("Enter a number: "))
    result = 10 / x
except ValueError:
    print("You must enter a valid number!")
except ZeroDivisionError:
    print("You can't divide by zero!")
Here, if the user enters something that is not a number, the ValueError will be caught. If they enter zero, the ZeroDivisionError will be caught. Multiple except blocks allow for more granular error handling.
Using else and finally
Python allows for even more control using else and finally. The else block executes only if no exceptions are raised, while the finally block always runs, regardless of whether an exception occurs.
try:
    file = open('data.txt', 'r')
    content = file.read()
except FileNotFoundError:
    print("The file does not exist.")
else:
    print("File read successfully!")
finally:
    print("Closing file.")
    file.close()
In this example, the else block runs if no exception occurs during file opening and reading. Regardless of the outcome, the finally block ensures that the file is closed.
Custom Exceptions
You can also define your own exceptions by subclassing Python’s built-in Exception class. This is useful when you need more specific error reporting for custom scenarios.
class NegativeNumberError(Exception):
    pass
def check_positive(number):
    if number < 0:
        raise NegativeNumberError("Negative numbers are not allowed!")
In this case, a custom exception is raised if the number is negative, offering precise control over error conditions.
Conclusion
Error handling is a critical part of Python programming, making your code robust and user-friendly. By mastering try, except, else, and finally, you can prevent unexpected crashes and create a smoother user experience.

So I found this blog, ,,40+ personal questions for your character" and I just had to do it with Alcestris (link here)
What's their favorite song? - Beautiful Creature by MIIA
How well do they sing? Do they sing in the shower? - Sings very well, she's a musician in the present. She does not sing in the shower tho
What exotic animal would they keep as a pet? - A python
What is their opinion on children? - She likes them, she doesn't mind babysitting and being around them
What is their SECOND favorite food? - Fried Fish
