why do this?

i just really like spore and making creatures in spore. it helps me practice my creature creation abilities.

can you make my oc in spore?

as of right now i do not take requests. i generally find characters and creatures i want to make by them appearing on my dashboard. refer to the Request Beast.

what is in your icon?

captain thunderhide, my main spore space stage captain.

what is peeling?

peeling is when i remove all detail parts from a creature and show the bare sculpt underneath - anything that is not eyes, mouth, hands, feet, or limbs will be removed. it is a tradition around these parts

what are "original spores"?

original spores are spore creations that aren't based on existing media - ocs, copyrighted characters, or otherwise. usually, they're just making things to make them in spore, or are based on simple prompts such as "a plate of spaghetti" or "a penis".

do you use mods?

i exclusively play this game with mods.

can i download the creatures you make?

only if the original creator of the design is okay with it and requests a png. please note that in order to successfully download the creatures, you will need to download every mod used to create them.

i will not always be able to say what mods i use to make something, so it's a gamble if you don't have all of the ones i use.

how do i mod spore/do advanced creature creation like you?

darkedgetv's FAQ is a very good resource to begin. i started there, and it's where i recommend you to start if you're interested in spore modding. it also contains many other mods i have not listed under the cut.

as much as i disagree with the process of using a discord server to contain vital information and resources, the davoonline spore modding community discord is also a good source of resources and mods that even i do not use.

have you heard of [in-development indie sporelike]?

yes. i have heard of all of them.

i hold no interest in any of the currently in development indie "sporelikes". i believe they are trying to reinvent the wheel and overall they do not interest me.

what editor mods do you use?

a lot, so they'll be under the cut.

not mods, but highly recommended for enhanced playing experience

4GB patch - Tutorial - patches spore [and other 32bit programs] to be able to use 4gb of RAM. recommended if playing a highly modded copy, and makes the game more stable.

Reshade & ReSpore - post-processing injector & shader that alters the appearance of spore, giving it more detailed shading and vibrant colors. i use this for gameplay and screenshots. runs on GPU power, so excellent if you have a strong graphics card

HD graphics fix - this doesn't actually seem to work for my copy, but it alters the textures of base spore to be more high-quality.

mods that are absolute must-haves

these mods are ones that i use in almost every creation, and add a lot of QoL to the editors. if i forget a mod in a creature png i post, it will be one of these.

Dark injection - THE spore mod. it's likely a lot of other mods you'll download will mesh well with dark injection. you can turn off whatever you don't want to use through the installer.

Universal Property Enhancer - a library mod that many other mods require

The Smoother - a useful tool for building muscles and smoothing out your creatures' bodies

Enhanced Color Picker - a requirement for super detailed creations, enables hexcode color picking and color wheel selection beyond normal limits of spore

[UPE] Infinite Part Scaling - allows scaling of parts near-infinitely, beyond the limits of the original game

Project Skyncraft - adds new creature skinpaints

Unshackled - adds nodes and limbs for creating custom wings, heads, hands, etc. a little bit unstable, i mostly use this for wings.

Spore Stacker - allows stacking of any part

Subtle Rotations - reduces part rotation snapping

Advanced CE - adds building editor manipulators to the creature editor

Every Part Costs Nothing - self explanatory

Rotate Anything - lets you rotate anything, including feet and hands

Advanced Creature Paint - allows for individual coloring of parts on a creature, like in the building and vehicle editors

How do I enter?

Fill in this form to register as a writer or artist and submit your prompts for fellow creators! Signups will close on 3rd August.

How long do I have to create something?

Signups will close on 3rd August and prompts assigned shortly after. Creators will then have until 16th of September to finish their piece, at which point all submissions should be posted to Tumblr using the #garreth weasley fest #garreth weasley fest 2025 hashtags!

The ao3 collection will reveal all works on 15th September and this Tumblr page will share entries from the 2025 hashtag throughout the week.

What kind of content can I submit?

The fest will be prompt-based for both art and fics. When signing up you will be asked to submit three prompts for your fellow creators. This can be anything from a word to a scene. Full prompt rules are below the cut.

|| Just having fun with some friends (@hoiststowline and @dommiso) and a prompt we made while we were chatting on discord. Enjoy! ||

Prompt: A bot runs an important item up to your place of work.

It was pretty easy to miss if he hadn't seen you with it before. An inconspicuous black notebook, spiral bound and plenty used if he had to guess sat tucked under a data pad at his work station. You'd kept it with you at all times, so he's certain you had to have been in a rush to forget it like that. He picks it up and turns it over to see pen scribbles all over the back of it. Little doodles of plants and animals and a few sketches of his medic badge. He's be hard pressed to admit that he did the same thing. First Aid knew you had to be busy today too, what with all the new environmental laws in place. He'd better get this to you so you can do your work proper. He tells Ambulon and the others he's taking a break and sets off to your work site. By the time he's made it to rolling down the dirt road you've already called him three times. The first time to see if he'd seen it, the second to ask him if he's sure he wants to bring it, and the third to check and make sure he knew where he was going. Patience it's your strong suit it seems. No matter, he will be the one to put you at ease when he brings you that much needed notebook. Once he's pulled up outside the low building he's rethinking how out of place he actually looks. A red and white ambulance, no sirens or lights, just parked at a building with what looks to be not a lot of employees in the middle of nowhere. Good thing he's determined to help you. First Aid sucks up whatever reservations he has and activates his holomatter avatar. A moderate looking female human with bright red hair, big blue glasses, and a surgeons mask. He gives himself a once over in his mirror and heaves a sigh. Maybe the mask is too much? You're a scientist though and this is a lab. Humans wear those here right? Before he can question he's appearance you're already calling him a fourth time. "Hello, I'm outside." "I can see that," you laugh. Of course you would laugh, "People are wondering what an ambulance is doing out here. I'd get inside if I were you." The folks at your work must be bored or something because he's only been out here for a few minutes at most. "I'm on my way." First Aid hops down from his cab and makes his way to what he assumes is the front doors. You're already standing at just inside and opening the door to meet him. "Ooh! Who's this cutie coming up to my work?" First Aid tries to stop the smile from spreading over his face. He always did like them a little flirty. "I have your notebook," he reaches into his lab coat and fishes it out to give to you, not failing to notice you grazing his hand in yours as you take it. "Thanks Aid. You really didn't have to. I know you're busy and all." "It's no trouble, really. I'm glad I can help, and if I'm being honest," he steps forward to invade your personal bubble while pulling down his mask, "I'm glad I get to see you." Without a second thought you lean in and plant a sweet kiss over his scarlet lips. There's an odd tingle considering the avatar is made of light, but it's still real enough to give you and him both butterflies. "I'll see you at base then?" "Maybe after one more kiss," you smirk pulling him in again by the lab coat.

Among the Stacks (65K) by @rhosmeinir - Nearly a year after Aziraphale returns to Heaven, he vanishes from existence, leaving Crowley bereft on Earth. How will our hero cope?

Angels Don't Dance (Rated Mature, WIP currently at 50K) by @sixshotsinatumbllr - Crowley is assigned to investigate the unexpected uptick of infernal energy being produced by Bush Doofs in Australia. He brings Aziraphale along for the ride. It goes... well, it goes about as well as you would think.

Exit Wound (Rated Explicit, 5K) by @prinxlegolass - This is a story of love, loss, coming home, and everything that never was; a re-telling of an Irish Celtic Myth that has been sanitised and long-forgotten. Taking place one hundred years into Early Christian Ireland, it weaves themes of spiritual colonisation with the ineffability of a great plan and the parts of us that are never truly lost.

The Season of Nightingales (Rated Teen, Podfic) by @nosferatini - A nice and accurate prophecy of the season following the parting ways of an angel and his demon—if such an Ineffable Plan were written by a benevolent God…. As the effort to thwart Heaven’s wiles is complicated by unexpected friends, an ex-Inspector Constable, a guileful Metatron, and a Heavenly floor full of the Blessed Dead—Aziraphale and Crowley find that navigating their relationship is not mutually exclusive from saving the world from Armageddon.

Set Yourself On Fire (Rated Explicit, WIP currently at 112K with one chapter left!) by @rofell - A Sapphic fic: Azira and Crowley are old high school enemies who end up as dorm roommates. They couldn't possibly have anything in common, right? A love story that spans decades, about dealing with your shit and becoming the person you were meant to be.

The Travel Sweet Illusion (Rated Mature, 6K) by @secretlywingedphantom - What if Crowley did, in fact, secretly pass something to the angel in the final 15? A somewhat-silly one shot about an angel and a demon preparing for the worst. But in the most delightful and delicious of ways.

Whatever I Like Best (Rated Mature, 1.8K) by @naturallyteal - The Secret Dream Diary of a Good Omens fan (anonymous, he) who contracted a severe case of the fandom-typical brain rot from watching S1 & S2 too often, reading too much fanfic on AO3, and spending altogether too much time engaging on tumblr, digesting gifs, fanart and meta. He dreams about Good Omens every night.

Write A Way (Rated Explicit, 73K) by @angie-words - Azira Fell and AJ Crowley are both successful authors in their own right, invited to speak at the same national book festival. Despite a falling out a couple of years ago, they've never actually met - so this event is going to be awkward for both of them. Right? As it happens, it seems they share a love of a certain TV show... and being very active parts of its fandom (yep, it's Fanfic Writer Crowley and Fanfic Reader Aziraphale time!)

It’s almost time to sign up for 007 Fest!

What is 007 Fest?

007 Fest is a month-long July celebration of all things Bond! This year marks our 10th Fest!

This year, the storyline we are following is dueling conferences. Agencies from all over the world are coming together in the spirit of cooperation and trust. It’s JELLYFISH Con!

For four days, agencies will show off their new tech, brag about the skills of their agents, showcase anything and everything. The goal? To form new alliances between agencies, inter-agency agent partnerships that can be called upon in times of need.

Everything is a little tense when trying to get naturally suspicious people to work together, but the biggest challenge might not be anything anyone predicted. It might be the convention happening on the floor below theirs: The International Mystery Writers Convention.

It's up to you, the support staff, the hotel staff, the B team who make things run smoothly to ensure that's what happens this time, too. When you sign up for Fest, start thinking about how you want to fit into this world. It's not critical, but there are some fun bonus challenges that build on some role play elements. Don't worry about which agency you might be a part of; we will be assigning time-zone-based stations for Fest depending on the demographics of sign ups.

During July, decide on your goals at the beginning of each week in July. Completing these weekly goals helps save the conference from that week’s threat! (But if you don’t complete them…well…maybe your station’s part of the conference ends up a little more lava-covered than it was before…yes, even though you’re not anywhere near a volcano… Luckily, you can help each other out!)

I don’t write or art! Can I still participate?

Absolutely! If you want, you can only make social goals—hosting or joining watch parties or Discord chats, for example.

We also have fun immersive goals/scavenger hunt activities that don’t involve writing or arting.

Additionally, the ‘creative’ goals don’t have to involve fanfic or fanart; if your weekly goal is to make 5 James Bond memes or three headcanons, we support that!

And if you want to make a “hold my beer” level of goal, we also offer prompt tables and other challenges!

You can also participate without goals during certain weeks or the whole month if you want! 007 Fest is as chill or as high-key as you want to make it.

It's Secret Santa time again in the Batpham discord server! I got the same person as last year, Strawberry_Avalanche! Which i don't mind! I just think it's funny. This is based off one of the provided prompts, featuring the Danny Phantom siblings (Danny, Jazz, and Danielle) ending up isekaid into a Studio Ghibli film. I had multiple ideas for different films, but this seemed the most straight-forwards. So the three of them are taking a snooze on Totoro!
