“Virtually all of Sam Jones’ occasional dates as a leader featured him in a purely supportive role with a medium-size all-star group. This set is a bit different, for Jones is often in the forefront, heading a trio also including pianist Kenny Barron (who switches to electric piano on one song) and drummer Keith Copeland. Barron is actually the dominant soloist during a program consisting of three originals by Jones, two by Barron and the opening Thelonious Monk tune “Rhythm-A-Ning,” although Jones has his spots. The NFL’s best remaining free agents, by position

The new league year is here, but not every big name has been signed yet.

The official start to the new NFL league year is here, with a new collective bargaining agreement and all. It also comes at a time when the world is upended by the coronavirus pandemic, but other than changes to travel and locking down team facilities, NFL free agency is continuing unabated.

With the legal tampering period beginning on March 16, many deals were already agreed upon before free agency actually began. Some became official right at 4 p.m. ET when the new league year kicked off, while others have yet to be finalized until teams can conduct physicals. We’ve also seen a high number of franchise tags this offseason, with players like Dak Prescott and Chris Jones sticking with their teams.

Even after all that, there are a slew of free agents looking for a landing spot in 2020. Below, we’ll point you to the best available players at each position, with updates throughout free agency. Note that not every signing is included, namely for players at the bottom of the roster.

Quarterback

Holby City S19E42 - Baggage

Bit of a damp squib episode for me tonight.  Could this have anything to do with the gut-punch news of Bernie’s impending departure?  Well, it certainly didn’t fill me with the joys of spring, but I think the episode fell on it’s own merits.

Firstly, I’m not a huge Donna fan, never have been.  So for her to dominate a storyline was never going to put the ep in my top 10 anyway.  But one thing I do have to ask is, what is with Holby and the spate of super-smart, super-mature, reasonably unrealistic tweens that we’ve been buffeted with recently?  I’m sure there are many kids out there like that, but I doubt they’ve all got relatives in the same hospital employ, and frankly, tonight’s kid just felt really contrived (I’m blaming the writing here, not the actress, btw.  Can’t imagine those lines carried off that well by anyone).

Secondly, so Rossini and Nina The Snake have decided to give it all another go, amidst the backdrop of some poor patient.  I say, and?  And then I yawn.

Finally, it was lovely to see Dom’s mum back, I do like Carole, and I also liked the heart to heart about Dom’s childhood and how she felt she should have supported him more.  I’m pleasantly surprised that he and Lofty haven’t gone straight into a hook up (though I doubt it’s completely off the cards), because with the lack of finesse that the current writing displays, I really wouldn’t have been surprised if they’d gone there.

Finally, and perhaps most jarring for me, was how off I felt Hanssen was tonight.  He did have a stellar moment chatting with the precocious Mia, but his interactions with Nina early in the episode felt utterly discordant (Hanssen bad mouthing Sam Strachan and comparing his baggage to that of a large station?  Uh-uh.  Then again at the end with Rossini and Nina.  Also totally off.  Who the hell did they have writing for him tonight?  (Don’t get me wrong, I totally buy the matchmaking bit, just not the dialogue that went around it.)

One final quick mention - liked to see Morven admitting she had a boyfriend.  But could they really not have let her say the name?  Coz I’d dearly love to know if it’s still Cameron, since it’s not been mentioned once since the union episode, and I have been left wondering...

(Another final quick thought - so we got our standard 2 mins of Bernie.  Best hold on to that with both hands, and hope she at least gets the full 2 mins screentime in her final episode, would hate to see her cut to 1...  I’m not bitter

“Fourth Jailbreaker Arrested With Rose,” Toronto World. January 3, 1909. Page 01. ---  William D. Jones Taken in Huntington, W. Va., After Arrival of Inspector Duncan. --- Alex. Rose, the most dangerous of the seven Toronto jail breakers, will be again in the toils in this city tonight.

It also developed after the arrival of Inspector Walter Duncan and Detective Tipton in Huntington, West Virginia, that another of the septet has been captured, namely Wm. D. Jones, alias Williams, who was at the time of the ‘delivery’ being retained along with Budd Copeland for breaking jail in Newcastle, Pa. He was arrested shortly after the arrival of the Toronto detectives, who identified him, and he was last night sent on to Newcastle to stand his trial.

With the capture of Rose and Jones, this makes four of the septet who broke jail last July, who have been heard of.

Only three, however, are in custody, Churchill, who was caught in Texas, having been let go. The others still at large are Ed. Lee, Clark and Copeland. A telegram was received at detective headquarters from Inspector Duncan yesterday afternoon stating that they were leaving at 3 o’clock for Toronto with the prisoner. They will arrive some time this evening.

It is understood that Rose’s identification in Huntington was the outcome of a correspondence between himself and his mother, which has been kept up since his hasty departure from the city. They did not address their letters direct to each other; but it is said thru a medium in the same house, queerly enough, in Hamilton, where Constable Barron was murdered some years ago.

The Hamilton police were notified about the arrest of Rose, or Mitchell as he was known, and they communicated with the local police.
