How to come up with your own OC? Please help me with this

There's a lot of methods for it, both from what I've seen and the one's they taught me in art school- But, for me, personally I like to look at surroundings/media/anything that I like and that might inspire me to create something.

It can be meshing up several concepts together, reimagining of certain ideas or designs I like in media with my own twist, just drawing something on the go, or even paiting something out of my dreams I write down sometimes

Some suggestions I can give is: Make a lot of designs, keep whichever you like the most

Mix and mash parts if you feel like spicing up things

Draw the innitial idea, if you're happy with it keep it, if you start coming up with a lot more things experiment with them until you find a design you like (that's why I've been remaking a lot of my old characters recently)

Find a theme for the design, keep it as consistent or wild as you like (depends on what you're trying to convey or the story you want to tell), and so on

And use references, a lot of them, whether visual or written, it saves a lot of time and helps with ideas

That's some of the stuff I do that helps me create, again, there's a lot of ways to do it and this one's just how I mostly do it. In the end, do whatever you think looks best and get creative, you can come up with a lot of cool stuff just like that.

Some of my most beloved characters came out that way and now I have field days with them so, just try things out and play with your art, don't be afraid to experiment and try with different stuff

Hi babe, I think you wanted headcannons but I wrote this with gaz in mind 🫣

“First date”

“Shut the hell up.” 

You had been sipping your beer, playing 21 questions with Gaz and Soap. The childish game Soap had brought up to finally get Gaz to speak to you.

You peered from behind your pint, face clearly flushed, you could just feel it. The heat of embarrassment telling them out loud the reality of your love life.

Gaz looked at you, drumming his fingers on the sticky and tacky table. 

“You swear? Never been in any relationship?”

You nodded sheepishly, darting your eyes between both of them.

Soap had not stopped shaking his head, “Nuh uh I don't believe it for one second.”

Part of him was secretly pissed, now he couldn’t barrade you on your type of guy, or what your ex boyfriends had looked like or been like. 

“So what is it then? Is it because you’re picky?”

Gaz had taken a large swig of his beer, looking at you, then staring back at the foam around the rim of his cup.

“She’s lyin’ there’s no way…” Soap kept pushing your buttons trying to prolong how he was going to ask you questions.

“Go on then, tell us why you’re so picky.”

You finally looked up, a bit upset at it all. 

“Listen, nobody has ever asked me out. I’ve had some crushes here and there but I guess they never really liked me.” 

“THEY didn’t like you? Tossers all of them, I mean what's not to like?”

Gaz had spoke, eye contact on you, a little furious at what he had heard. 

Soap was smiling, cheesing so hard that Gaz had finally revealed a little bit of something. 

You guys had paid, walking back home, Soap pretending he wanted to go see some of the shops. He walked a little ahead, leaving you two alone. 

Gaz had started,

“Listen, I don’t think you should get down about it, there’s lots of people at your age where they haven’t met who they like.”

“I’m not sad about it Gaz,” you had exhaled, “it’s nothing new, I just think it’s annoying getting the response I always do.”

You knew what he was getting at. As if Soap hadn’t been telling you the past month about “what a cool guy he was,” “yeah he’s serious but I promise he blossoms once you get to know him”

He had shoved you playfully, attempting to make you feel better. 

“Come on then, tell me what you look for in a boyfriend – er or girlfriend.”

You had peered up at him, “I like people who are kind, genuine, who don’t mind talking about their feelings.”

“Uh huh, what else?” Gaz had felt like he could possibly get a little more.

“What would you say to first dates? Like where do you like to go?”

You looked at him, “I like arcades, and mini golf.” you raised your eyebrows at him.

“Arcades and mini golf? What a coincidence! Those are my favorites too!”

You laughed out loud. You knew Gaz didn’t like those things, those were things you did with Soap. It was so hard for him to just say it.

“If you’re gonna ask a loser like me, just ask me Gaz.”

He looked at you stunned, smiling sheepishly at you. He grabbed your hand interlocking his fingers, softly, before asking–

“Alright sweetheart, what do you say? You and me, Saturday night?”

Orsterran Cuisines (from CotC)

OK! Finally done! Since I’m attempting to write again - and my next writing project has a foodie theme - I’ve been checking all the NPC dialogue in Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent for mentions of cuisines, dishes, foods, rare ingredients, or anything connected to cooking. Some of the Memoirs mention food, too, so I included them as well.

It was quite fruitful, really! A lot of towns don’t make mention of food at all (Theatropolis, Rippletide, Berecain, Sufrataljah, Donescu, Clearbrook, Victors Hollow, Flamesgrace or Emberglow), but there are some really nice ones in various places, mostly in Valore and Grandport. I can only check from my current point in the story (which is up to date as I type this post), but I’ll be checking in future in case any more get added.

On to the list, then! I’m not used to Tumblr, so apologies if it’s not formatted correctly.

Atlasdam: Crimson Crab Pie (Capable Culinarian), and River Fish (Liquor-Loving Fisherman)

Herb Wine: a drink from the Frostlands - remember to drink in moderation, Isla says!

Berry pies: a favourite of Elrica’s.

Snow Beets: From OT1, but from the Frostlands. Naturally sweet.

Embershroom cooking method: (From Isla’s letters) “In Emberglow, the city which glows like dying fire against the night, the people harvest embershrooms. The name comes not only from the place it’s found, but also the way the mushrooms are prepared - embershrooms are cooked by roasting them slowly over the embers of a bonfire. In snowy regions, it’s im-purr-tant not to waste a single spark.“

Alpaca Cheese: from the memoir between Pia and Varkyn. From I’cirlo. It’s distinctive aroma can put some people off, but it does go well with wine.

Ketchup apparently exists in Orsterra, too. Isla mentions the condiment in one of his letters.

Catnip Juice. Another thing Isla mentions. Possibly a kind of wine for caits.

Ah yes. Time for a new addition to Alistair's Funhouse story. I'm finally convincing myself to write the next chapter TvT. Anyways, Alex is the next soul in line. Alex is Cassian's best friend and he will go missing relatively a few weeks after Cassian's death. Please keep in mind that every character involved in Alistair's Funhouse is mine. Along with the storyline and plot. Remnant and agony do NOT exist in this world. Vengeful spirits and lost souls will come from emotions such as anger and sorrow.

So please don't barrade me with comments saying that I stole from Fnaf because this story has nothing to do with it. While it is inspired, it is in no way connected to it. Anyways, I'll post more about them later once I have a few more chapters written. You CAN do fan art for the established characters such as Alex, Cassian, Spade, and Alistair along with, Azeral the bear that I had previously posted. Just remember to give credits. heavy shit that i really need to share. dont read if you are not feeling like handling someone's sadness rn. cw: verbal abuse, education. most likely

today a university professor for the first time made me cry.

i tried my best, but was called a stealer (as in, i used images from the internet, instead of going outside and doing my own), an unworthy author who just comes up with excuses all the time to cover up my own unoriginality (i tried to elaborate on my idea and understand why he was being so insanely picky) and of course, everything i did is just generally speaking boring, dumb and barely legible. he raised his voice at me, constantly asking if i 'understand what he is saying', while verbally pouring shit on me. i couldn't take it.

i am already feeling unworthy enough. i do not feel like a proper artist and designer, and my mental health has just been pretty bad rescently. this doesnt help. i feel like i am drowning in anxiety, sometimes just laying down all day because it paralyzes me.

i feel disgusting. almost as if i was used as a doormat, to be stepped on. i am so tired. i dont know how am i supposed to finish his subject, if every time i get such treatment.. its painful to be barraded for 10 minutes straight, especially about something you did and kind of even liked

Nome social na escola: a barreira de alunos trans

Nessa semana de volta ás aulas, estive pensando sobre nome social nas escolas, e como são uma grande barreira para muitos alunos trans. Afinal, apesar de ser permitido por lei, há muitas coisas que dificultam sua inclusão.

Se você é uma pessoa trans não assumida ou não aceita, já deve ter tentado trocar seu nome e sendo barrade com frases praticamente prontas: "Você precisa dos seus pais para trocar o nome" ou qualquer outra variação. Por muito tempo eu jurei que isso poderia fazer sentido, mas hoje vejo que além de injusto, é prejudicial.

O nome social é uma questão de identidade das pessoas trans, eu sei que se fosse totalmente liberado, sempre haveria algum engraçadinho para colocar um nome irônico nas listas de chamada, mas e os alunos que realmente querem um novo nome?

E garanto algo: quantos mais nomes sociais são cadastrados nas escolas, mais cresce a vontade dessas pessoas de ir á escola. Ou vai me dizer que não é boa a sensação de validação de sua identidade de gênero? Você não sofrerá com erros de nome, pois poderá denunciar essa transfobia para a escola. Agora, quando esse direito não é assegurado para todes, há risco até mesmo de evasão escolar. Imagina ser uma mulher trans, chegar na escola de maquiagem, e ainda assim ser tratada por seu nome masculino, terrível, né?

É por isso que eu digo, mesmo que vocês, pessoas trans que ainda estão na escola, não consigam trocar o nome na chamada, não caiam nesse papo que precisa de autorização dos pais. E espero que todes vocês tenham um ótimo ano letivo!
