Yesterday my husband and I took our old beagle to my favorite place on Earth. It was just going to be the two of us because we wanted to look around all the shops and eat at a nice restaurant. But when I let Sam outside before we left she looked back at me through the glass porch door. I looked at her white face and I couldn’t help but wonder how many summers I have left with her. So I packed her food and her water bottle and loaded her into the car. We had an absolute blast. We ate at a weird little restaurant with outside seating so she could come with us and it was actually delicious. We went to the beach and she rolled around and dug in the sand. We just sat and watched her play because we haven’t seen her move like that in years. We walked the rocky coastline and we carried her when she got tired. It was a perfect day. We rescued Sam when she was 6, so to me it doesn’t seem like she should be so old…but she is. I cherish every day I have with my little beagle love ❤️
