So little thing I have to say, just a little advice, not forcing anyone to listen:
Look, you don't have to agree with someone's opinion, but at a certain point it's just an opinion, not worth starting a massive fight over. You can not agree with my opinion, you can not agree with anyone, but for gods sake, do not start a fight over it. Imo esp if it's over a small thing, I just see that as immature and pointless. Like okay, someone didn't agree with you, and you start a pointless massive argument over something not really worth starting one over, fantastic, want a gold metal of immaturity? First place! A trophy of overreacting perhaps? Amazing! Want a cookie for your glorious work? Here ya go.
For now on if you start pointless fights on my tumblr posts, I will simply delete the message, no one likes being stressed out over TINY things, and I will delete it. If it is over politic opinions, and if you start a massive argument over politics, Idc, the message is being deleted if it's on my posts. I may share a concern abt stuff, RARELY, but it's just an opinion or a concern at the end of the day, if you don't agree, just at least don't be a dick. AND READ THE WARNINGS AND BOUNDARIES ON THE POST BEFORE YOU REPLY, THANK YOU. Also I would appreciate if opinions weren't forced on my tumblr, much appreciated. Everyone has their own opinions, we aren't all a singular drive hivemind, we aren't all cardboard cutouts. Istg don't try to act like it's that way, what rock have you been living under. Anyways. What I said here still stands. Do not bring toxic bullshit onto my posts, putting it lightly. If you don't like an opinion, and are about to say something that will likely start a fight, just don't reply at all. Commen sense; be a decent human being, at the bare minimum. We usually don't say anything unless it needs to be said, so yeah. ~ Northern Nightmare System

A common question and critique, both in feminist literature and in (online) feminist spaces, is ”Why aren’t the good men doing more for women? Why are they still so passive despite being the 'good' ones?”
Okay, so the answer is actually pretty simple.
At best, these self-proclaimed or so-called "good men" don’t care as long as it isn’t inconvenient for them personally.
At worst, they either secretly or openly enjoy women‘s oppression, humiliation, violation — both due to mere sadism and due to the fact that they actively benefit from it, personally as well as systemically.
That‘s why "good men" are nearly non-existent. Some might be allies when it comes to certain topics (though probably not for genuine women-oriented reasons, and yes, intention matters), however, they‘ll still be misogynistic and oppressive in other ways, or tolerate those who are.
And the concept of a "good men" who‘s "passive" is completely ridiculous. If you, as a member of the oppressor class who‘s advantaged by our systemic & worldwide oppression all the damn time, think that not doing anything makes you "good", you‘re merely a bystander, and hence a (silent) enabler. Not a "good man who‘s just being passive".
Silence is complicity.
They don’t deserve to be labelled as "good". Not harming us with their own hands is the barest minimum. And we deserve to raise our standards, and we also deserve that our sisters raise theirs.
Women for Women. That‘s it. That‘s the only way.

Wait. I can barely find Hong Haein appreciation posts that focus solely on her as a character and her journey and her relationships with her family outside of her love story. What I'll find in the tags are posts about her love for Hyunwoo or just... Hyunwoo. And yet she's the one with the terminal illness. She's the one who's been through so much and was the most enjoyably complex character in the drama. Like where are those lengthy appreciation essay posts that center Hong Haein? I'm obsessed with her yet I feel isolated about it womp womp.
Edit: There needs to be Hyunwoo slander actually.

Lmfao so good news and bad news: I have been afraid of being fired for basically the last three years, since I started my current job, because I am not great at it, and I got told I’m getting let go today, but they are having my last day be in three weeks or so bc a merger is happening then, and they’re giving me severance and calling it a layoff, so honestly it’s about as okay as it could be and having that ongoing anxiety go away (to be replaced with same old “gotta find a new job” anxiety) is kind of comforting? anyway everybody wish me luck job-hunting lmao

last thing, i think as a superman fan, we generally accept that Clark is just a person trying to do good things, but i think people also forget that the concept of "the nice guy" trope has been cheapend to mean something else and that unless there is genuiness to the act, its lip service

Sometimes I forget I'm an Omega until I randomly get into playing an otome game for fun and a fictional man shows me just one single ounce of respect and kindness and genuine care, and I'm immediately planning a wedding and considering whether I'd be willing to give birth to his kids after all if he REALLY wanted kids and adoption wasn't an option.

they werent lying that knuckles series barely has knuckles in it
#i pirated that shit Btw just so we're clear. also gonna talk about it a little bit in the tags#nothing too spoilery but also might not wanna read if you want to go in knowing absolutely nothing? idk#anyway he WAS a main character still he was present for a decent amount of the first couple episodes#but the amount of screentime he gets just starts dropping after that . hes barely there at all in the second half ???#and it feels like theres a lot of scenes mostly focusing on wade and his problems and not near as many for knuckles and his whole deal#overall it feels more like a wade show with knuckles in it than a knuckles show with wade in it. which sucks#and human characters having plot relevance isnt the problem here i dont mind human characters at all i think they can be really fun#its the fact that the human characters are taking over the story and spotlight when the show is called knuckles#and all the marketing makes it look like knuckles is the main focus#and i also would have preferred if they just went with a differnet character to be knuckles' human friend#because i dont particulraly care about wade. and the knuckles (and sonic and tails) i know would not be friends with cops </3#well at least the story wasnt knuckles training wade to be a better cop like a lot of people were expecting but thats like.the bare minimum#also aside from the issues relating to knuckles' screentime (or lack of screentime) i thought the ending was unsatisfying#regardless of all that though there WERE some parts i enjoyed or found kind of funny or whatever. because knuckles so cutesy as always#knuckles being a cute little guy is the most important part of the show actually#and i liked the parts with sonic tails and maddie even if they were only there for like 5 minutes#(i really wish those three had gotten more screentime. i feel like they could have easily worked in at least one more scene with them)#and its a minor thing but the opening sequence is cute. was honestly expecting just a title card or something#overall the show is just . kind of okay i guess. not the worst thing ive ever seen but still disappointing ? idk how to explain..#my expectations also werent very high in the first place#so maybe im being a bit more generous than i would have been otherwise. idk#and i definitely would not recommend this to anyone who already dislikes the sonic movies . youll probably hate this more#like people who thought the human characters got too much screentime in the second movie would lose their minds if they saw this

if i have to see one more post about disney from people who don't work here or at least live in the area i'm gonna lose it
#saw a post that was talking about how disney doesn't actually care about queer people#and while like. yeah. i mean. i guess sorta that's true? but also they do pay for trans healthcare#for employees. btw. no other employer i've ever had has explicitly covered that in my insurance#also working here has EASILY been the job where i feel the most comfortable being trans since i came out#and where i get misgendered the least. it still happens and it's been an issue but like#overall it's better here. disney also lets me use my preferred name on everything#universal did not do that btw at universal i was forced to display my deadname to everyone at my location#so it's not as black and white as 'disney hates queer people' and i'm not trying to be a bootlicker i'm just stating these facts#that people probably don't know? at least people don't seem to know this?#but it's easily the most supportive work environment i've ever been in#and yeah a LOT of that depends on location and leadership and other things. i have trans coworkers who have struggled more than i have#but like. overall. i don't think people realize that it's actually a pretty halfway decent place to work#and yeah there's some HUGE issues but it's an oversimplification to say that it's just The worst and should be burned down etc.#and it's like yeah i KNOW it's the bare minimum but it's still more than i've gotten anywhere else i've worked#and yes a lot of it is also due to the union's hard work here and not the company itself but still#the fact that the people making posts like that clearly do not actually live here or know anything about how things work here#i'm just like. please shut up you don't even know what you're talking about#this post i saw earlier had people in the replies STILL spouting the 'disney will just pack up and leave lol and then where will the florid#economy be?' and they sound so fucking stupid like what the everloving fuck do you mean move somewhere else#people think it's a little theme park as if it's not the literal size of san francisco???#anyway i'm just in general begging people online to shut up about things they don't know shit about.#like. you don't have to have an opinion on everything. you can just. shut up.#anyway that's my ranty tags post for the day bye#win rambles

pt 2 of dudley and his attempt at redemption
he goes to therapy after he moves out. he comes to the realization that he was part of the problem
he didn't talk to harry potter for years
he didn't talk much to his parents either
but he still talked to them
he got a girlfriend, broke up, got a girlfriend, broke up
he missed the way that sweet sweet girl made him feel
but that time in his life is over, even if that wonderful girl will always hold a place in his heart
but he meets someone through a friend
she's beautiful. she has short black hair and grayish brown eyes, she has a square frame and a long hooked nose
dudley’s stomach flips pleasantly
she is kind and funny, she loves hiking and moths and can't draw to save her life, she hates tea and coffee and fizzing drinks but loves water and milk and tomato juice, she likes dark chocolate and is allergic to bees, she has four sisters and a little brother who is in junior high, she is 5’10” and wears heels everywhere, making her even taller
it took a while for him to ask her out, but he does, and she says yes (dudley is shocked, but his friend tells him he's selling himself short)
they go on one date, then another, and another
the woman, asks him to make things offical. of course, he says yes
they get married after 4 years of dating
they have two little girls
and the first has unexplained disasters. she's wild and once dudley could have sworn he saw her flying. he has a funny feeling about that.
when she was eleven, a letter came along with an old woman who explains that his daughter was a witch (dudley isn't surprised)
it took a lot of digging to find harry, but he was determined and even if it took him three months
his wife took it well, or as well as she could. she just started laughing when dudley admitted to being cousins with one of the most famous wizards of their century
meeting harry is weird. he's grown and has a beard and a leaner body, but he's the same height and still has scars littering his hands and arms.
but harry is kind, and he helps him
he explains things to dudley, gives him recommendations on books and tells him that he was apart of a war and the wizarding world is still healing, so to be careful
so when his eldest daughter is sent to hogwarts with harry’s children, she is ready
his youngest never receives a letter
but he makes sure to not favor either. he doesn't call anyone a freak or stupid or evil or unworthy of magic. he makes sure they're both included in everything.
and his daughters grow up happy
dudley dursley is 37 when he apologizes to harry potter.
dudley dursley is 37 when harry potter tells him that even if it's not excusable, he’s willing to give him another chance

i know that in media you're constrained with things like budget, time slots and stuff, but sometimes i'm just like. my god. the insane shortcuts people take to write "smart / intelligent" characters, especially in plot-heavy stories, always pisses me off. they write them like they're sherlock holmes (bbc version, derogatory) but they fail to realise that even sherlock holmes (arthur conan doyle) was written with a lot of thought, suffered his own subconscious prejudices and had to learn from mistakes.
i guess what i'm trying to get at is—"smart" people don't magically get good at things overnight, the only difference between them and others is how much they're willing to go through to hone their mental acuity. which means when they try something new, they're going to make obvious mistakes, not understand how things work beyond the surface level, and make mistakes in judgements (like when you don't understand something well enough, your analogies and metaphors aren't 100% accurate or concise).
but it feels like there's a assumption hanging over our heads that, as readers, we don't WANT to see the smart one go through the entire nitty gritty of the learning process. we just want to see them do cool things, piece the puzzle together with a flourish, and clap our hands at the end. and in some parts, yes! that is what i want to see! but i am also interested in how they pieced it together. the joy of mysteries is, to me, that everyone is exposed to the same pieces of information, and we're given the chance to try to piece it ourselves. but then the smart character comes along and interprets those pieces of information in a not-obvious way to us, and it's cool!! years of living with a mind that is primed to turn things over in their head, to make sense of things, reveals to us how differently we experience the same reality, and it's wonderful. i'm able to learn from someone who sees life differently than me, and interpret information differently than me!
but right now i'm often left out feeling flat and confused in the mystery-type plots i've seen. the smart person will have been exposed to information we didn't even get the chance to see and interpret, and then they piece things together and everyone in the story claps their hands at the artificial pedestal that's been propped up under that character's feet. explanations of in-setting magic that can be retconned in and out at any point in time, so there's no logical consistency for us to nitpick or understand, so there's no basis to stand on that the story should be taken seriously. plot twists that make no sense as a gotcha. so many things!!
like. this particular example just my beef with g*nshin, so ignore it if you don't agree or smth. but the use of red herrings in the stories piss me off. the red herrings are either too obvious or nonexistent. they always use some random guy acting suspiciously and have the other characters react to it, as if we can't understand it on our own? but like. these red herrings, in the real world, aren't even red herrings. sometimes people just "act suspiciously" just by virtue of being human, not because they're complicit in some bigger overarching plot. sometimes people just stutter because of their anxious disposition, not to hide a guilty conscience. sometimes people are just defensive and irritable because they're a defensive and irritable person, it doesn't mean they're the ""bad guy"" who you need to crack down on and interrogate even further, especially if there's literally nothing that indicates this character is guilty other than their outward appearances.
but like. the smart characters/protagonist almost never get proven wrong. the stutterer was guilty all along and they're just a bad liar. the defensive guy is selfish and obnoxious, they're defensive because they're hiding something, not because it's a natural reaction on having one's sense of privacy and personal space violated.
the game sure loves trying to do nuance with "not everyone is 100% good or bad, we're all Flawed" but they can't put their money where their mouth is. everyone who is not guilty acts in completely transparent and "good" ways. everyone who is guilty acts in completely opaque and "suspicious" / "bad" ways. end of story. how the hell am i supposed to think anyone in this game is smart when they don't even have to use their brain to sift through, critique, weigh and interpret information? what use is there to do so? just use your eyes and ears. the stutterer is nervous for hiding a secret. the anxious is guilty. the angry is scornful.
there's also another rant here about how g*nshin fucking sucks at writing unique and flawed characters, because they like to make everyone the Specialest Guy In The World, but that's for another day.

Alright, I'll send a lighthearted ask. Who out of the konoha 13 has almost burned the kitchen down trying to cook breakfast? Other categories include "not allowed in the kitchen" "doesn't know how to cook" etc
I actually drew a comic of this like nine years ago ive been meaning to redraw and post online..... oh wait that was just for genin team 7. I'll save those for the comic, but here's the rest of them:
-Shikamaru can read a recipe and probably believes he'd be very good at it if he'd bother trying, but he never bothers trying up until he starts living with Temari. Only then does he try, fail miserably, and feels like a fucking idiot about it. -Choji can't, contrary to popular belief. The extent of his cooking is flipping cuts of meat at the bbq hibachi place. -Ino can cook but it's nothing special, she's used to rotating chores around the house what with her family's business. The boys make her cook on missions by stroking her ego. It only works half the time because the other half she's bossing them over the fireplace.
-Lee can not make anything besides protein shakes, but he will enthusiastically cheer whoever is cooking on! -Tenten volunteers to cut the vegetables and she does a very good job at it. She's not allowed to cook. -Neji has to do all the damn work around here.
-I do not think about team 8. -Ok fine. Hinata never learned how to cook. -No one ever bothered to ask Shino if he could cook so we don't know. -I'm torn between Kiba being absolutely incapable of cooking, or being really good at making all-natural homemade kibble and being like "it's fine its ingredients people can eat, just eat it"
-Sai is probably competent at preparing hardtack and jerky.

dude its always "be yourself" till youre trans and now suddenly oh i get to nitpick every little thing about you oh that gesture was very feminine made you look like a girl oh youre wearing a shirt thats cream coloured? seems a little feminine to me oh you paint your nails? so youre a girl after all like ???? youre giving me mixed messages here am i meant to be myself or am i meant to conform to your idea of what a man is in order to be accepted as one by you
#⚠️#one time after i came out my mum saw me lounging around in a black t shirt and she was like oh it made you look like a man thinking it was#compliment but dude i got so mad i was like for fuck sake is that seriously what i have to do to be considered a man is lounge around in a#black t shirt??? lounging around is masculine???? what????????#i was also just a very angry person in general but still that really confuses me#had a psychiatrist note down shit about my appearance saying whether they thought it was feminine or masculine (they thought it was all#feminine) which was fucking crazy cause i went in for an adhd diagnosis#people just find out youre trans and suddenly start acting like experts on whats feminine and whats masculine and what makes you either#gender like shut the fuck up#can also come from people who they themselves accept some cis men are feminine and some cis women are masculine but suddenly as soon as you#try to transition now you have to be masculine or be feminine or youre not valid in their eyes#its fucking crazy#like if i showed them a dude with long hair theyd be like thats a dude with long hair but as soon as i have my hair long im told to cut it#i can show them a dude in a skirt and theyd probably laugh thinking its funny or some bullshit but theyd still think its a dude in a skirt#but if i wear a skirt suddenly im a girl#i know at the root of all this they truly believe people cant switch genders cause in their minds sex and gender is the same but still its#so annoying especially when they pretend to be accepting or think theyre being accepting and when you challenge them on their transphobia#they get all mad at you and act like youre being rude for criticizing them for doing the bare minimum whilst also just continuing to be#transphobic#like yeah you use my correct name but when im not around you use she/her for me and you say i **want** to be a boy instead of i am a boy bu#when i talk to you about this suddenly im the bad guy like its my fault youre using language for me thats transphobic#like ok man. whatever.#sorry for asking you to be a decent fucking human being toward me and treat me with respect#its like people just treat trans peoples gender like something they can just dismiss like its nothing liek we're just playing pretend or#something#like god its frustrating. i need to cut my mum out of my life fr

i. get the vibe that the more mainstream zelda fans are allergic to the idea of liking characters who like. do bad things
#the groups and works i avoid are ones that make characters who do generally questionable things into morally good/perfect people#idk. whenever people get nasty or w/s it seems to be when people ask reasonable questions abt the series’ morality#recent example in mind but like. idk. with more personal/petty examples i feel like people will just sand a character down to being nicer#or more decent to fit some mold and maybe while its still similar to canon its a lot less interesting#idk this is just a mini rant ill delete it later. god forbid we enjoy characters who make bad choices and are mean#idk i dont usually leave my little hole but it feels like the worst zelda fans are deep in purity culture regarding characters#and don’t analyze the text beyond what youre told and never going any deeper bc it would require thought and discomfort#idk ig with [character] (cuz i know thisll get picked ul by tag stuff) i just. dont like how he just gets turned into a decent guy?#like hes an asshole but thats it hes more pleasant than anything? its not not canon but its not interesting. its neuters him#yknow? like hes down for robbing people at the bare minimum shut uo about tax fraud he’s a thief literally in the text#im going off the rails. bht i feel like people lash out at characters who are unignorably grating or morally impure#and sand down the ones whose flaws can be ignored. ofc i feel like the main 3 esp with these last few games get the worst of it#and i can get why considering the issues baked into how this series work but it just makes a lot of things boring
