Kantha (Bengali: কাঁথা) is a form of embroidery originating in Bengal region, i.e. Bangladesh and the Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura and parts of Assam. It has its roots in nakshi kantha, an ancient practice among bengali women of making quilts from old saris and rags by sewing them together. In modern usage, kantha generally refers to the specific type of stitch used. The kantha needlework is distinct and recognised for its delicacy. The stitching on the cloth gives it a slightly wrinkled, wavy effect. Today, kantha embroidery can be found on all types of garments as well as household items like pillowcases, bags and cushions.
While it is an increasingly diversifying art form, traditional kantha embroidery motifs are still sought after. Traditional kantha embroidery is two-dimensional and are usually of two distinct types: geometric forms with a central focal point, carried over from the nakshi kantha tradition and influenced by islamic art forms; and more fluid plant, floral, animal and rural motifs with stick-figure humans depicting folklores and rural life in Bengal.

THE STUDENTS OF BANGLADESH ARE DYING.
The so called students league called BCL or Bangladesh Chatro league, who are basically the rabid dogs of the rolling government of Bangladesh are attacking, assaulting and killing the students protesting against the Quota system that gives off government jobs for the children and grandchildren of freedom fighters of the liberation war. Our own prime minister called us rajakar (traitor who betrayed Bangladesh to Pakistan in 1971) and said anyone who isn't the child of declared freedom fighter is a child of a rajakar. So the students created a slogan "who am I? Who are you? Rajakar, rajakar!" Ignoring the irony of the slogan, the pm set her rabid dogs on the students, my people are dying because she (pm) refuses to let go of nepotism. We can't use our freedom of speech. Please help us.
Our Internet is being cut off, our accounts are being hacked, our electricity is said to be gone soon. SPREAD THE WORD.

Hindus are being gangraped, lynched, and having their property destroyed in Bangladesh rn. Amidst all the news coming out of there don't forget about the minority that always ends up dealing with the brunt of chaos. in 1971 most of the victims of the genocide were Bangladeshi Hindus and everyone conveniently leaves this detail out.
(And i know some mf will either no true scotsman this or say that it's all lies and that all the videos coming out are fake or propaganda from the BJP or something instead of another event in a long chain of violence. The Hindu population has crashed from 30% at independence to 9% today. Estimates say that in the next 30 years, Hindus will be extinct in Bangladesh)

y'all might find it controversial but let's face it, Bangladesh's political turmoil is one thing; vandalizing and posing threats to people is another. from what I've been hearing through the internet (which continues to show the rare ground footages), Hindus are in fear. Bangladeshi Hindus.
1971. 3 million Hindus were KILLED. 200,000 hindu women were R@PED.
i am aware that making this religion specific is what makes this controversial, but it is necessary. when harm is caused on the basis of religious identity, there's no other way around to mention it!
if the world could step forward to speak up on Palestine, it could also step up to speak on the atrocities in Bangladesh.
international authorities continue to issue releases concerning the protection of Bangladeshi Hindus, but serious delay in such action has been noted.
we don't want 1971 to repeat. I hope we start to speak up before it's too late.

India Cuts Power Supply to Bangladesh Over Unpaid Bills

India has reduced electricity supply…

Khona was a poet and astronomer from Deulia village in Bengal, best known for Khonar Bochon, a series of couplets and short rhymes which imparts advice regarding agricultural and rural life. Born somewhere between 800-1200 A.D., Khona defied social and cultural norms of her time when women were rarely taught to read. Her husband Mihir was the son of the philosopher and astronomer Barahmihir, who was one of the navaratnas (nine gems) at the court of Chandragupta II. Khona lived in Chandragupta's court in Pataliputra for a time with her husband and father-in-law. According to legend, Chandragupta was so impressed with Khonar Bochon which benefited the farmers of his state that he named Khona the tenth gem of his court. Khonar Bochon remains relevant to the agricultural life of rural Bengal to the present day.

Yusuf Darwish is a devoted husband and father living in Gaza. Like many families in the region, he has faced unimaginable challenges, especially in the wake of ongoing conflicts. Yusuf's life took a tragic turn when his young son was injured during a recent war. The boy suffered severe injuries to his face and hand, a painful reminder of the violence that surrounds them.
Tumblr media
Despite the limited resources and medical facilities available in Gaza, Yusuf has remained hopeful. He has sought treatment locally, but the medical care his son requires exceeds what is available in the region. The injuries have not only affected his son physically but have also taken an emotional toll on the entire family.
Tumblr media
Yusuf is determined to find a way to get his son the help he desperately needs. He believes that specialized medical treatment outside of Gaza could provide his child with a chance for recovery and a better quality of life. However, the journey to access such care is fraught with challenges, including financial constraints and the complexities of crossing borders during times of conflict.
Tumblr media
Despite these obstacles, Yusuf is reaching out for support. He hopes to connect with organizations, charities, and individuals who can assist him in securing the necessary treatment for his son. His story is a poignant reminder of the resilience of families affected by war and the urgent need for humanitarian aid in regions like Gaza.
Tumblr media
Yusuf's plea is not just for his son, but for all families facing similar struggles. He dreams of a future where children can grow up without the shadow of war and can receive the medical care they need to thrive. With the right support, Yusuf believes that healing is possible, and he remains committed to doing everything he can for his beloved son.

On Slide 3 you can see the vile genocidal fantasies of hindutva ghouls towards grieving Palestinian mothers and children, and yet they'll whine about safety of Hindu women just to demonize Muslim men. Please remember every accusation from the Hindutva genocidal majority is a confession.

This is what hindutvavadis - even the soft sanghis here on tumblr - support and align themselves with. This is what they believe and what they vote for.
