the great prince x reader
and it’s just hcs of them falling in love?
love headcanons for the great prince | bambi
Tumblr media
you somehow always knew that he likes you, he never said it; he showed it with his actions
great prince would be a REAL gentleman. for example when you two were walking through the forest after a rain to check on small animals and stuff, there was a huge branch and you had no idea how to cross it... so he PICKED IT UP by his antlers and THROW IT AWAY like it was nothing
in winter he will make sure that you're warm and cozy at night, he will also get up a bit earlier just to find you something to eat
when you're speaking to him, he makes sure that he nods his head from time to time or flinch his ear just to give you a sign that he's really listening to you and that his attention is on you
he will watch you from afar a lot, when you are with your mother, siblings, friends on the field eating
if there is any danger like when a human is around, he always make sure that you are somewhere safe with a lot of food and water (just in case that the human would stay "hunting" for few days longer)
he won't let you take a step outside the safe place he found until he's 100% sure that the danger is gone
this protective side of his always made you think that he likes you more than a friend
in spring, there are lots of young deers that wants to date you or just your attention but only few brave ones acc come to you, because they know that the great prince is always watching you
they HAVE to respect him
he sometimes uses this to protect you from "mean" animals but he really means it in a very good way
he just wants you safe, when you are safe; he can relax, because that's his only job, to keep you safe
of course his "job" is also to watch and protect the forest but to be completely honest, he would let humans kill and burn the whole forest to the ground if that would make you safe
i mean it, he would just take you and run with you away without any care in the world for the other animal (but he would for sure give them a warning that there is a danger coming yk)
he would also bring you small flowers he found on his patrol just to make your day a bit better
if it's raining at nigh or a cold wind blows, he'll make sure that you are warm, basically he'd just cuddle you in some moss
he would show off his antlers a lot, because his antlers are his pride
every time you compliment him his antlers or just take a few second longer look on them, it makes him fall in love with you a little more, because it's just a really huge compliment for him
sometimes when he's feeling playful, he'll play fights with you in a flower field, because it's safe when he "throws" you in the field and it's a lot of fun
he pays attention to your body and face language a lot, so he knows your small details/opinions on things and stuff yk
he'll love you till the day he dies (and he doesn't care if you wouldn't love him back)

Animated 5: The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride v Bambi II
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Simba's Pride {original-The Lion King (1994)}
Actually excellent quality for an animated sequel - amazing songs, amazing cast and characters, amazing story. Who didn't have a crush on Kovu, huh??
Kovu
Because Lion King is basically Hamlat with lions and the sequel kept the Shakespeare theme and is basically Romeo amd Juliet with lions.
Bambi II {original-Bambi (1942)}
The relationship between Bambi and his dad and them trying so hard to come to terms with the moms death Im- 😭

So... Ronna is... a trauma survivor, right?
In Bambi II, Ronno knows what a deer call is and how to describe it--and that's possibly secondhand info, but where did he hear about it? Maybe another deer witnessed a hunter using a deer call and survived to spread the word, yeah. But also--Ronno has a notch in one of his ears, which could very possibly be man-made.
I kind of have a headcanon Ronno did encounter a hunter, but maybe he was kidnapped or taken in for a short time like Gobo in the book. It probably wasn't pleasant, because he only exhibits trauma symptoms. He probably either wasn't going to be a pet or wasn't going to warm up to a family.
The movie is already about healing from trauma, so I'd love looking at it with Ronno acting as a Bambi foil as well as representing the uglier ways someone heals from trauma (overdramatization, low empathy, selfishness, picking fights, acting "tough" but also being a crybaby, claiming to be grown up but also being behind maturity-wise. That last one is clearly apparent; it's suggested that Ronno is a little older than the other kids by his antlers alone. So why's he the least mature out of all of them.).

Another little fun concept illustration of Bambi that I did. Kinda a follow up to the last drawing I posted. I always found the scene of the Great Prince comforting Bambi in Bambi 2 a very dynamic scene. So, using what iv'e learned from art school, I made an illustration of that scene! I used new poses, to challenge myself. Man, the great prince can be difficult to draw, but I did it. I really enjoy the lighting on this one too and I'm damn proud of this piece as well! Please share!
PLEASE REBLOG! IT HELPS A LOT!

Bambi Two has an absolute chokehold on me
I did in fact cry during Bambi 1 and 2. Both times because of Bambi’s Mother
Something about an 1h 15m animated film of two grieving deer royalty learning to be father and son makes me so emotional and will forever remain in my favorite Disney movies
This scene? The one where Bambi is dreaming of his dead mom? Tears
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“But I feel so alone/I’m always with you, even when you can’t see me”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The whole montage of Bambi and his dad? Peak
It’s probably also on Disney Plus, but it’s also on Youtube

I'm watching every Disney movie in alphabetical order.
Tumblr media
The List:
I took "the" out of all the movie titles so everything wouldn't be toward the end. And I did everything alphabetically rather than by release date because I wanted to get a proper mix of the different eras. I would die trying to watch all the 2000s Disney movies in order, so I feel like the eras being mixed would fuel my motivation to continue my watching spree. I have a few rules for this watching session.
🧸No movies from Pixar, Fox, Marvel, or any other Disney-owned partner
📀No Direct-to-DVD Sequels
🐭No shorts, Fantasia, or anthologies
Aladdin Alice in Wonderland Aristocats Atlantis Bambi Beauty and the Beast Big Hero 6 Black Cauldron Bolt Brother Bear Chicken Little Cinderella Dinosaur Dumbo Emperors New Groove Encanto Fox and the Hound Frozen Frozen 2 Great Mouse Detective Hercules Home on the Range Hunchback of Notre Dame Jungle Book Lady and the Tramp Lilo and Stitch Lion King Little Mermaid Meet the Robinsons Moana Mulan Oliver and Company One Hundred and One Dalmatians Peter Pan Pinocchio Pocahontas Princess and the Frog Ralph Breaks the Internet Raya and the Last Dragon Rescuers Rescuers Down Under Robin Hood Sleeping Beauty Snow White Sword in the stone Tangled Tarzan The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Treasure Planet Winnie the Pooh Wreck-it-Ralph Zootopia
Extra Fun:
🐇To make things extra fun I have decided to watch the movies with @bhunyee.
🪞A list of references made in Twisted Wonderland
👑I came up with a list of Disney tropes for every movie that I watch:
#1 Racism or the portrayal of non-white racial groups in poor taste #2 Using minority groups, such as LGBTQ, for comedic relief #3 General ickiness or an obvious dirty joke #4 Twist Villain #5 An animal sidekick for a humanoid main character #6 Dead biological parent(s) #7 Has a sequel or spin-off #8 References / Easter Eggs for other Disney movies #9 Has at least 2 bangers #10 Things you wouldn't expect in a kids movie(alcohol, smoking, corpses, etc.) #11 No magic or fantasy #12 Disney "prince/princess" doesn't end the movie as true royalty #13 Well known lost/deleted/cancelled/edited media or hidden background

Ojalá saquen más fanfics de ellos dos, siempre quise saber más de ellos. 😭💘

The field where we met by NamyGaga on DeviantArt.
________
Recreation of the moment when the Great Prince of the Forest (Bambi’s father) first met Bambi’s mother when they were both young. At the end of the second Bambi film, the Great Prince takes Bambi to a field where he tells him that there the place where he met his mother. Bambi asks what he was like and the prince says almost identical to his son. I wanted to recreate this scene as I imagine it, using the original background of the field in the film as the background.

My Disney Villain Categorization because I have lost control of my life
Disclaimer: I am ONLY counting movies from the Walt Disney Animation Studios line-up. That means, no Pixar, DisneyToon, no live-action, etc etc.
If y'all ever want to know what kind of Disnerd I am..... here ya go. I don't come up with theories or headcanons. Instead, I categorize! So here's the giant list no one asked for lmao:
~~~
There are Four Major Categories:
Totalitarianism
Personal Grudge
Means to an End
Ambiguous
Each category has two sub-categories, plus sometimes an extra sub-sub-category:
Totalitarianism: The Selfish Tyrant & Imperialism
Personal Grudge: Rise to Power (Aka, Hate Your Dad) & Obsession
Means to an End: Animal/Child Cruelty & Forces of Nature
Ambiguous: Intangible & It's Complicated
Without any further ado, let's dive in!
Tier 1: Totalitarianism
The Selfish Tyrant
What it says on the tin. Already a monarch, already has power, and just abuses it for their own personal reasons.
Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland)
Prince John (Robin Hood)
King Candy/Turbo (Wreck-It Ralph)
King Magnifico (Wish)
Imperialism
Even if it's not literally imperialism, these are the villains who are interested in "spreading" their power, to subjugate others for their own selfish needs, etc.
The Horned King (The Black Cauldron)
Ratigan (The Great Mouse Detective)
Gov. Ratcliffe (Pocahontas)
Shan Yu (Mulan)
Lt. Rourke (Atlantis: The Lost Empire)
Alameda Slim (Home on the Range)
King Runeard (Frozen 2)
~~~
Tier 2: Personal Grudge
Rise to Power (aka, Hate You/Your Dad)
This formula was particularly popular during the Renaissance (almost HALF of those films employed this!)
Ursula (The Little Mermaid)
Jafar (Aladdin)
Scar (The Lion King)
Hades (Hercules)
Yzma (The Emperor's New Groove)
Dr. Facilier (The Princess and the Frog)
Hans (Frozen)
Bellwether (Zootopia)
Obsession
These are the villains who don't want or need more power, but rather are fixated on the protagonist, for one reason or another.
Revenge:
Evil Queen (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)
Captain Hook (Peter Pan)
Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty)
Shere Khan (The Jungle Book)
Amos Slade (The Fox and the Hound)
Bowler Hat Guy (Meet the Robinsons)
Callaghan (Big Hero 6)
Control:
Most of these are toxic romantic abusers, but familial ones are counted as well.
Lumpjaw (Fun & Fancy Free; the Bongo sequence)
Lady Tremaine (Cinderella)
Gaston (Beauty and the Beast)
Frollo (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)
Jack-in-the-Box (Fantasia 2000; the Steadfast Tin Soldier sequence)
Mother Gothel (Tangled)
Ralph (Ralph Breaks the Internet)
~~~~~
Tier 3: Means to an End
Cruelty
These are the villains who have no real interest in "power," but are willing to use unethical methods to get what they want (usually monetary or material desires).
Animal:
Cruella DeVil (101 Dalmatians)
Edgar (The Aristocats)
Clayton (Tarzan)
Child:
Every single Pinocchio villain (besides Monstro lol)!!
Medusa (The Rescuers)
Sykes (Oliver & Company)
McCleach (The Rescuers Down Under)
Forces of Nature
What it says on the tin. These aren't really "bad guys," no matter how scary they appear. They're just Nature and a source of conflict for our heroes.
Monstro (Pinocchio)
T-Rex (Fantasia; the Rite of Spring sequence)
"Man" (Bambi)
The Wolf (Make Mine Music; Peter & the Wolf sequence)
The Rat (Lady and the Tramp)
Black Bear (The Fox and the Hound)
The Firebird (Fantasia 2000; the Firebird Suite sequence)
Carnotaurus (Dinosaur)
Te Ka (Moana)
Don't Fuck with the Fae
Same principle as Forces of Nature, only fantastical/supernatural examples, and as a result, are often more petty or cruel. But mostly, they don't actually do any harm when left alone. But if you cross their path....
Zeus (Fantasia; the Pastoral Symphony sequence)
Chernabog (Fantasia; the Night on Bald Mountain sequence)
Willy the Giant (Fun & Fancy Free; Mickey and the Beanstalk sequence)
The Headless Horseman (The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad; Sleepy Hollow sequence)
Madam Mim (The Sword in the Stone)
Tamatoa (Moana)
~~~
Tier 4: Ambiguous
Intangible
I'm just gonna list the films that have a sorta "villain"-ish, in the sense that there's a major conflict/theme that hurts the protagonists, but is mostly very.... vague or metaphorical.
Dumbo (society/prejudice)
Lady and the Tramp (classism/animal cruelty)
The Fox & the Hound (yes, I counted Amos Slade and the Bear previously, but the "true" villain is Prejudice)
Brother Bear (ironically, would fit under "Obsession/Revenge"..... if the target was more than just an ordinary bear)
Chicken Little (society/bad parents)
Bolt (reality)
Encanto (generational trauma)
Strange World (generational trauma)
It's Complicated:
Honestly, I straight up could not decide on a category for these movies because their "villains" are much more complicated than your average Disney antagonist.
Lilo & Stith
Treasure Planet
Raya and the Last Dragon
And finally!
No Villains:
Here's the handful of Disney movies with absolutely ZERO villains or major antagonists or themes that can be interpreted as the "true" villain/conflict.
(I don't count the Heffalumps and Woozles, because they only exist in Pooh's dream lol)
Saludos Amigos
The Three Cabelleros
Melody Time
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Winnie the Pooh (2011)

So I'm watching the special features disc of my Bambi platinum edition (for research purposes), and they have a featurette introducing Bambi 2 (which was then called Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest) and I'm literally vibrating with the urge to pause and infodump every 5 minutes I am so fucking normal about this movie
