I kinda miss writing about Catsuki. Bakugou is orange cat behavior in a human body and I wanna tell him pspsps until he tells me to piss off because I’m treating him like a cat.

I also wanna have a big ol’ catboy I can spoil and lie about being perfectly harmless to guests because he’s my precious babyboy. He is not in fact harmless. He’s bitten so many people.

If there was one thing Eijirou knew for sure, it was that Bakugou had a thing for his hair.

Sure, initially it wasn’t a good thing—the Shitty Hair moniker has been a staple since the first week of first year—but after months of getting to know his best friend, that nickname was closer to a term of endearment than an insult at this point. He’d swear up and down that Eijirou’s spiky hairstyle was still shitty, but whenever Bakugou thought he wasn’t looking, whether they were at lunch or studying together, Eijirou would catch the way that he would stare at it, not with disgust, but with interest…and maybe also fondness? Eijirou would say that he was pretty good at reading Bakugou’s moods, but he still got tripped up sometimes.

But Bakugou would touch his hair too. A tweak to the horns on his forehead in greeting, playful yet still careful not to break the gel. An idle twirl of loose red strands when they were relaxing together, a brief moment of contact before he went back to whatever he’d been doing.

And it was strange, but also nice, how his friend chose to give him attention during the day. Their other friends always had weird looks on their faces whenever Bakugou would wordlessly tug on a spike or even gently ruffle them before sitting like it hadn’t happened, but Eijirou always felt warm and fuzzy from the move, and he always bit back a smile from it.

Like right now.

Eijirou chewed on the end of his pencil as he read through his notes for the upcoming test in their hero law class, and he was getting to the section on quirk use policies for non-hero work when he felt the now-familiar sensation of fingers sliding into his hair, down and slightly damp from his shower after training.

He looked up and to the side; Bakugou had that same interested-and-maybe-fond expression on his face as he dug his hand farther into his hair, watching the way it moved as he ruffled it as if he were studying the movements of a villain rather than his best friend’s hair. Blunt nails then scratched at Eijirou’s scalp, and his eyes drooped, all of his concentration now kept on trying to keep his eyes open. He was less successful in holding back a content sigh, and the fingers on his head stilled, though they didn’t leave.

“You like it?” Eijirou glanced over to see a look of genuine surprise on Bakugou’s face.

He nodded, careful not to dislodge the fingers still tangled in his hair. “Mm. Feels nice.”

Bakugou hummed, and his hand started moving with a purpose this time as he started scratching at his scalp again, occasionally switching to massage at the nape of his neck or detangle the knots forming in his drying hair. It was heavenly, and Eijirou didn’t stop his eyes from closing as he slumped into Bakugou’s hand.

He heard an amused snort next to him. “You’re like a fucking cat.”

Eijirou huffed, his lips tilting up into a smile. “You’re one to talk, Catsuki. I see how you always get bundled up in blankets whenever it gets slightly cold outside.”

“Oi, don’t call me that.” His fingers stopped their detangling to tug on a strand, though it was still gentle. “And it ain’t my fault this damn building gets drafty.” His hair was tugged again, in guidance rather than retaliation, and he let himself be led to lean on a warm shoulder, the ministrations starting anew.

Eijirou’s smile grew, and he leaned against his friend’s side. “Y’know bro, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you liked my hair.”

“Nope, it’s still pretty shitty,” Bakugou responded immediately, even as he took care to make sure there wasn’t a single knot left anywhere on his head.

“Sure, whatever you say, man.”
