#bakugo slander

It's pretty telling that a lot of Bakudeku fics are set in AUs featuring at least one item off this list:

Midoriya always had a quirk (so therefore no quirkless discrimination)

Bakugou never bullied Midoriya

Inko is abusive/neglectful...for some reason & Bakugou is protective...for some reason

Hisashi is in the picture but he's abusive & Bakugou is protective...for some reason

Class 1-A or Dekusquad are assholes & Bakugou isn't...for some reason

Midoriya & Bakugou didn't meet until U.A. (so Bakugou never knew he was quirkless, etc...)

Midoriya never went to U.A. (usually involves pro hero Bakugou and civilian Midoriya)

Quirks never existed

I could go on.

The point is, a lot of Bakudeku fics either completely change their pre-canon dynamic, drag others down to build Bakugou up (to the point where it's massively OOC), or they make it so Bakugou got everything he wanted while Midoriya never got the chance.

The mha fandom has always tried to sugar coat Bakugo's actions. it been thing they do for ages. like, they know what he did was bad. they know that it hurt Izuku. but instead of just finding something healthier to ship they twist around his story to make Bakugo's abuse towards Izuku more "valid". Like claiming his mother abused him as a child or other things like that, when in reality its canon that he was spoiled as a child, and the only reason he acts how he does is because he's just a bad person. or they just completely change his character or his background. it's almost like the subconsciously know their ship is odd.

So, might be a strange question on my part. But aside from the obvious of the ending being the villains saved being the best ending. How else would you have ended Deku and Bakugou’s arc if it was still the same direction of the villains dying, hence the lacklustre (if this question makes sense?) Would it have been preferable if Deku stayed a hero? And what would you have envisioned as the best ending for Bakugou? (Did you recently start to hate Bakugou’s arc after they defeated the villains, or just specifically the epilogue chapters?)

Well, without the villain ending being decent I have 0 preference for anyone else's arc. Deku remaining a hero wouldn't have been satisfying with the current ending regardless. However, provided the endings had played out well, Deku being a quirkless hero like he'd always wanted to be (you know, similar to how it seemed he was going to be in 430) while using saving a living Tenko as a perfect example of what a hero can really achieve if they try hard enough, that would have been great.

Bakugo to me is just...a mess. He's well-written, but his character is so extremely out of place in the manga and it ruins him in the sense that I can't take him seriously. I didn't hate his arc until closer to the end, but I did begin really resenting his character once he reentered the battle. I just think his "self-esteem issues", if you can even call them that, were so overblown and out of touch with the heaviness of there rest of the well-written characters who all had serious issues contributing to their terrible decisions. I think Bakugo's arc would have been fine overall if the other characters had been handled properly, but because the manga expected me to feel equally as sympathetic and sorry for Bakugo as it did for the rest of the villains, I have a hard time finding any enjoyment in his arc at this point. I have a difficult time seeing past the fact that he just couldn't get the fuck over himself and then cried about it later, and I'm somehow supposed to be moved by his self-improvement.

This is what I mean by out of place. The other main characters are all dealing with the loss of someone important they wanted to save and dealing with grief and the weight of life and death and memories of the ones they watched or helped die, then literally seconds later on the next page Bakugo is over here crying because he doesn't have a super strong rival to compete against anymore. I really just can't take him seriously at this point. He belongs in a manga that is nowhere near as dark and heavy as BNHA ended up being, because to me his character is kind of a joke when I look at literally every other character in BNHA.

I'm not gonna turn this into a Bakugo-hate blog, but I'm definitely bitter, I won't even try to hide that fact lol.

just as much as this isn't the izuku we know and love, it's not our katsuki either. katsuki never gives up and is the best at everything, so he would never take no as an answer from izuku, and he would never give up on their dream together by letting izuku walk away. he would woo the fuck out of izuku just like he's done for their entire lives.

like it took you 424 chapters to realize and see it when DvK2 happened, he got stabbed in the gut to save Izukus life, got murdered bc he’s the closest person to Izuku and watched as he cried and only spoke of Izuku and cheering him on, his last words literally being “Do your best, Izuku” AND THEN he resurrected to save THEIR hero’s life, won against the original AFO body while only thinking of Izuku, AND GAVE IZUKU HIS FINAL PUSH TO FINISH AFO IN SHIGARAKI BODY EVEN THOUGH HE WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL AND THE DOCTORS DONT EVEN UNDERSTAND HOW HE WAS PHYSICALLY ABLE TO DO IT BUT NOW YOU SEE??

Sorry for posting this on main, but I needed to get this out of my system.

I'm convinced that anyone who's been saying Bakugo was born ugly has never seen a newborn infant. My guy, babies don't look cute right off the bat, at least in my experience. That only starts happening once they start putting on baby fat, and until then they look like a cross between a sphinx cat and a wrinkly bean.

Bakugo was born looking much older than a newborn, somewhere between 2-3 months old, if I were to guess based on how much hair he's got and his size, which means he was born looking like an actual human being compared to other newborns. Dude has had pretty privilege from birth, don't even try to say otherwise.
