Stumbled upon Culinary Wars and ganda ng thumbnail, so ayun na nga. Since I missed my doggo babes and my mid babe Vidi is extra clingy, sige na. Tambay bahay muna tayo on a Sabado while updating my small purple circle kasi may super bonding sesh akong namiss because 'di ko nasabing wala ako sa Manila last weekend. LERKZZ.

Bakit ba raw ako 'di nanood ng F1? Tugon: Kahit may free access pa, kakatamad because ang inet and 'di naman ako fan. LELS. Badtrip na ako at nasabay pa 'yang F1 na 'yan sa punta ko sa totoo lang.

Speaking of Vidi, hayyyy. Hassle talagang 'di maging bothered and mag-lean toward "bonus" days na 'yung days niya with us. Tapos extra clingy pa. Dati 'di 'yan lumalapit sa akin. Now, gusto niya, either nasa ilalim siya ng sala set. Or nasa tabi ng home office chair ko. Then, syempre, dahil namiss namin ang isa't isa, nagluto ako ng lamb steak. SARAP. BTW, ayoko ng steak, pero 'pag lamb, actually, anything na lamb saka mutton/kambing, super oks for me. Mura pa saka 'di na masama since hati nga kami. I can clearly see his body detoriorating pero alam mo, ang lakas niya pa rin or baka sabi nga ni Doc A, mga dogs daw, ayaw pinapakita na hindi sila okay. HAYYYY.

And so, Culinary Wars is like Food Wars pero totoong tao mga karakter. Part of me says na, Korea is really slaying its comm plan to "run" the world. Kasi napapayag nila mga top chefs aka White Spoons to go head to head with basic chefs aka Black Spoons.

Tawang-tawa ako sa mga feeling A-list na Black Spoons e. :P

Personal fave ko si Master of School Meals agad-agad lalo nung hindi na magets ni Anh Sung-jae kung na-override ba ng nostalgia ang judgement niyang putok na putok na parang minsan unnecessary na. Ajumma siya na super humble lang and ugly delicious ang paganaps. Gusto ko rin si Hidden Genius kasi kamukha niya brother ng one of my purple peeps saka pak siya e. New breed. Love ko rin si Comic Book Chef kasi sobrang weird niya and I think, he'd be ruling the Korean food scene soon and the world, too. Sa White Spoons naman, si Edward Lee lang gusto ko. LOL. Very hippie vibe siya pero alam mong he's just upping the ante of his folio rin naman. Fun-sized din siya kaya very interesting din.

Special mention kay Napoli Matfia because naman, ang galing niya gumawa ng risotto talaga with feelings for 100 people na naka-time pressure. Also, dami niyang tattoo and ganda ng hair niya ngayon. Onti lang followers niya sa IG pero as a girllyyyy na 'di masyadong bet pasta and Italian food, ten points for him diyan.

Etong CW mala-Squidgame x 100 x Parasite. Tawang-tawa ako sa divide nila lalo nung naka-choogadoog ang mga Michelin Star chefs. Oh, the fallen stars. Eto na talaga ang testament that badges like Michelin Stars are but... badges. Lalo na kung uukilkilin mo ang ang historicity nito. May mga nagsasabing kaya may paganito is marketing na naman para mas mag-travel on wheels ang mga tao in the name of good food 'di umano. 'Di ako kasi fan ng mga awards sa food. Nasa pila 'yan ng mga legit na 'di forda gram talaga. LOL. As an example, wala bang sobrang sarap na pang-Michelin na Pinas-grown talaga? LOL. ULOL.

Compare mo Hawker Chan sa JT's Manukan. LELS. Syempre, bias ako sa DTF kaya let's not go there, pero gets ba? Kahit andaming mas oks na mala-DTF sa mga Chinatown dito sa Pinas. Parang may cocaine kasi talaga 'yung DTF crispy beef strips na wala naman talaga siyang bearing pero nakaka-adik.

Andaming oks na food dito lalo outside Manila na laban kung laban sa mga foreign ones. Another example is 'yung Jay Fai x Crab Omelette sa BKK. LOL. Seryoso, oks lang siya. 'Di siya super duper sarap. Spectacle lang talagang panoorin si Madam with her goggles. Not to diminish her worth ha. 'Yung sa totoo lang talaga tapos ang mahal pa. LOL.

Anyway, maganda ang mix ng boomer and millennial judges ng CW. Ganda ng fit ng suit ni Anh Sung-jae and the very Coach Anzai vibe ni Paik Jong-won. Pero again, seeing them side by side is sending a strong yet very subtle/sublime message na: Korea has to keep up to make its food accessible to the world. EMYYY. As a homecook myself, ganda netong show na 'to. At the end of it all, it's all about the taste. Dagdag na lang talaga ang estetik lalo nung nag blind tasting x judging mode sila. 'Di naman need ng fancy kitchen set up unless gusto mo talagang mag-experiment pero in terms of texture atbp., kung magaling kang mag-combine ng kung ano mang meron ka sa pantry mo, goods na 'yan.

Plus, travel to taste and experience food. Kasi iba rin kapag andun ka talaga sa mismong lugar kung saan puwede kang kumuha ng inspiration sa pagluluto mo. Adapt mo na lang sa kung saan ka mang lugar based para 'di rin hassle 'yung logistics. So, sa susunod na Malaysia and Taiwan, makapag-cooking class nga sa mga legit local ajumma at noona after biking. Gusto ko ulit 'yung tulad sa Hanoi na mamalengke ka talaga and all.

Also, 'yung foundations ng cooking lalo preparing the ingredients. Kaya ko love na love si Master of School Meals, ang galing niya mag-hiwa tapos ang bilis pa. Sana all. Pinaka nakakatamad talaga mag-hiwa. And mga basics like ano bang tamang pagpapa-tender ng mga karne, seafood, and veggies.

And don't cook talaga forda feed. Feed the souls talaga siya.

Though experience and wisdom pa rin talaga, 'di rin 'yan basta-basta maha-hack. Ganda ng skillset ng mga White Spoons. Very classy. Very demure. EMYYY. Saka ang linis nilang mag-luto. Sana all. LELS.

So, anong luto kong next? Tocino, bacon, saka ham. Saka baka misua na may sardinas na 'di masabaw. Plus, gonna cook a Korean dinner in time for December na rin. Boso-boso, Antipolo. 5/8/20

Bahahaha sobrang baliw trip. Hippie event tapos live sesh. Daming nandon na kilala at nakilala. Kinabukasan nag decide kaming mag kakaibigan mag drop ng acid. Parang rollercoaster hahahahaha. Nung una sobrang excited at overwhelming dahil tuwang tuwa ka sa nakikita mo. Hanggang sa nandun na ko sa punto na Shet. Hindi pa ba tapos? Hahahahahahaha. Natagpuan ko yung iba't ibang version ng sarili ko. Naramdaman ko yung hangin, puno, lupa pero yung sarili ko hindi. Buti nalang may isang tropang kasama namin na nag-guide at sober kaya kampante kami na may kasama parin kaming totoo at nasa reyalidad (kumbaga, siya yung tourist guide namin sa fieldtrip). Sumakto pa na may Djembe sya at tumutugtog siya non habang nag titrip kami. Ang sarap sa tenga ng djembe at walang ibang instrumento kundi hangin, pagaspas ng bamboo, ibon at mga kuliglig lang. Sobrang daming emosyon at sobrang daming ako. Ang akala ko nga ako lang yung nakakaramdam ng ganon hahaha. Mabuti nalang nag-rereality check kami at consciousness check. Isang beses pa bumaba yung tropa namin sa baba ng bundok para bumili (which is yung guide nga namin). So kaming mga nag drop nalang yung natira sa spot. Tatlo kaming nagka-baliwan at nagka-aningan hahahaha. Ang buong akala ko nga hindi na ko makakabalik sa pagka-tao ko kasi dalang dala ako sa nakikita ko. Iba ibang nilalang ng gubat at tuwang tuwa sila samin kasi nakikita namin sila. Para bang bisita o dayo kami para sakanila kaya sobrang galak nila i-entertain kami. Sa tuwing makikita ko silang papalapit, ginigising ko yung sarili ko para ma-distract at mawala sila sa paningin ko. Hahahaha na-tth kasi ako na baka pag nakipag-usap ako sakanila, matuwa ako masyado at mag-stay nalang ako sakanila. So everytime nag-rereality check ako hahahahhaa. Parang katumbas ng isang minuto yung isang oras. Parang nag-hihintay ka mag time sa computer shop. Hahahaha para kang nabubuhay kada segundo. Panibagong ikaw at pagkatao. At yun na nga, nagka-ayaan na umuwi. Habang bumababa ng bundok nag-vivisualize parin ako pero kontrolado ko na siya at unti unti ko nang ginigising yung sarili ko hahahaha. Ngayon nakauwi na ako at habang tinatype ko to patapos narin yung amats. Salamat at sobrang daming nalaman at nakita. Stay grounded & conscious para hindi ka maligaw.

This just reminds me of my PUP days. Its April, yellow leaves falling from the trees inside mini intramuros. Roaming around then feet drives me to CHARLIE, inside, these hippy activists, singing along to different rev songs with a single guitar player. The damp smell of sweat and dried paints. Suffocating yet liberating arid air inside. Murmurs, steps on wooden floors from the second floor. Students snoring, some listening to old cassette radios in other cubicles. Aaaaaaaah those blissful days.

Also, i want to dedicate narin sayo ito. The lyrics reminds me din nung una tayong nag usap. I'm a bit lost, you're a little broken from various elements. I didn't help you to heal or anything, but until now you sing (talk) to me whenever we have the chance.

One of my roommates forgot to lock the door as she was heading out earlier today and the other yelled at her through the window saying “lock it, we don’t want anyone to steal Maria” it was too cute! And just now, I was already in bed, had the lights off and everything, I heard them in the kitchen area getting ready to go back home for the weekend and before closing the door behind them both said “goodnight Maria” in a whisper. What cuties! I think they thought I was already asleep but still it gave me feels 😭
