Vedic Astrology Observations

in my previous post, i had mentioned how Uttarashada natives love grandness and glamour. the more i look into it, the more i see these natives indulge in that old world, royaltycore aesthetic. its always go big or go home for them

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is known for his splashy period dramas with elaborate costumes and grand set designs has Ketu in Uttarashada

Fan Bingbing who is known for her glamorous and eclectic style has Ketu in Uttarashada (she also has her moon in Revati, another nakshatra that really loves glamour)

Kim Taehyung, who is also known for his preference for vintage glamour has Mercury & Mars in Uttarashada (he also has his moon and ketu in Revati)

Dilraba Dilmurat is another celebrity who is known for her extravagant style (chinese actresses in general have a very regal, extravagant style) and she has Revati Mars as her atmakaraka (her moon is in Punarvasu, a nak known for its girly style)

2. someone previously made a post about how mrigashira natives often play the "bimbo" in movies and ive observed that this also corresponds to real life, where a lot of mrig natives are perceived to be ditzy airheads or for saying crazy insane stuff. i believe its the mars influence that makes these natives speak hastily without much thought.

Beyonce has Purvaphalguni sun and the deity of Purvaphalguni is Bhaga, the god of marital bliss. Beyonce's interpretation of the Birth of Venus features her with her twin babies and babies signify the consummation of a marriage, thereby making this a uniquely Purvaphalgunian take on the original.

5. This is a no-brainer but mermaids in cinema are often played by Pisces rashi natives.

Halle Bailey is a UBP sun. Lin Yun is UBP moon and saturn with Revati Ketu. Esther Williams who did a string of aquamusicals in the 1950s has Ketu in Revati.

The nakshatra most often associated with incest is Rohini and Mrigashira but I would say Ashlesha also features these themes. Growing up in a very controlling household with a cold/controlling mother figure is a huge theme in the lives of Ashlesha natives.

in Donkey Skin (1970) Catherine Deneuve plays a princess who takes the form of a donkey in order to escape from her father, the king who wishes to marry her because she looks just like her mother. This is quite literally the story of Rohini, who was Lord Brahma's favourite daughter, and he was attracted to her. Rohini sensed this and took the form of a deer and ran away. Lord Brahma subsequently assumed the form of a stag and chased her across the heavens. When Rudra found out what was happening he cut off the head of the stag. The stag’s head became the symbol of the nakshatra of Mrigashira. As we can see Rohini & Mrigashira's mythology is deeply intertwined.

Catherine Deneuve has Ashlesha moon and Mars in Mrigashira as her atmakaraka (her Saturn is also placed in Mrigashira and is her darakaraka).

If you watch the movie, you can see how its overloaded with astrological symbolism (its based on a fairytale, so thats not surprising)

the color blue is used throughout the first half of the film when the princess is in her own kingdom, traditionally blue is associated with Saturn. Shani/saturn is our karma, which teaches us things the hard way. The princess (unwillingly) has to leave the comfort of her palace and kingdom, assume the form of a donkey and go work as a pig-keeper. She loses everything she has ever known and has to work her way up from scratch, this is a typical Saturnian journey and most people experience this during their Saturn return (Saturnian folks experience this all their lives).

the color red is used throughout the second half of the movie, in association with the Prince's kingdom. Red is typically associated with Sun and Mars in vedic astrology. as the princess works out her karma and integrates her shadow, she blossoms into a fully integrated individual, this means she has cultivated her identity and the strength to act upon it. from a passive, weak willed princess in her father's castle, who was willing to marry her father due to her fear of hurting him by refusing to do so, she transforms into someone who moulds her own fate through her own actions. (Sun + Mars)

The fact that she assumes the form of a Donkey, itself is very symbolic. Donkeys, in vedic astrology is often the vehicle of Gods. Therefore, it serves as the door that governs her transition from passivity to individuation.

the Prince saw her for her true nature, although everyone around was convinced that she's just a filthy, hideous Donkey Skin clad servant. When the Prince slips her ring back on to her finger, she transforms back into her original self (true love is a mirror that reminds us of who we really are and gives us the courage to shed our worldly personas). The dress she wears then, is a golden one, originally given to her by her father when she said she wanted a dress "like the sun". Yellow is associated with Jupiter. After enduring the trials of Saturn, the Princess who became Donkey Skin, once again becomes a Princess, except now she has freedom. Saturn's teachings guide us to Jupiter's blessings. The movie's ending showing us that once the Princess had successfully overcome her trials and now embraced her true nature.

2. How did you discover it or get interested in it?

I think someone one twitter retweeted the trailer like a week before it aired and I went into a laughing coughing fit bc although I knew there was a tv adaptation trying to get off the ground I kinda assumed it was like dead? And then to see black Louis and Claudia??? I was like oh my GOD I know Anne and her plantation praising self mad as HELL this is gonna suck I'm gonna watch it. And then. well. I mean look at me. I don't think I've ever been so wrong about a show going into it before. I think once Louis hit that chuckle at the start I was like oop. It's over. I'm done for.

12. What were your favorite moments of season one? 

Ok so I got way too many to choose from so I'm gonna pick one per ep and also moments I like but I feel I don't mention often:

EP 1: the tapdance scene because it's so important to me and also just a fun scene in general. I can't believe the both of them just learned tap themselves that's crazy

EP 2: Louis looking into the thoughts of the tenor before joining Lestat to feed. It's like such a Louis moment and I love the detail of his pupils pinning back to human size once he starts seeing the memory with the wet piece of bread in his pocket-- also that its such a great like achingly mundane detail

EP 3: "To me my X-Men" looking ass...

EP 4: I love how with Claudia there's opened this whole new view into vampirism and how at least at first so much of it for her is joy and laughter... tho I get kinda mad watching them laughing in the back of the movie cuz I know if I was there in that theater I'd be like can yall shut the fuck up. In my head ofc and then I get killed shuffling home actually I'm uncredited I was there. It's a missing scene big amc don't want you to know this

EP 5: Claudia revealing that Lestat cheating on Louis. Great performance work from Bailey also I keep thinking of that edit where someone put the reality show music over it

EP 6: the chess scenes in general but like Claudia prodding at Lestat about Nicki and Magnus ok wait I just noticed she got keys on her shirt.....Carol............

EP 7: The reveal which I could spend a whole post talking about but I'm just gonna post what I told my friend

16: Do you have a favorite piece of art (book, movie, painting) that’s referenced or featured in the show?

I think I said the Francis Bacon tryptich last time but also I watched the 2019 production of a Doll's House (adapted by Tanika Gupta) that Assad was in and I really enjoyed it!

Hi its me your mutual and i am tentatively coming out of hiding to finally ask about your OCs if thats cool! Jaxon is my favorite so far, best characters are intergalactic world destroyers. I was wondering the reasons behind choosing their names? and if any of them owns any pets? Jaxon reads to me as someone who would own a lizard.

Okay, we're going to have to travel back to that weird first iteration for this. Jaxon was closer to an actual eldritch god back then (the whole mass of tentacles ordeal), Robin was a secret government agent, Holmes was their former partner, Charles was a literal shadow being, and Bailey was a not-vampire and Charles' actual body. Yes it was weird.

Robin was chosen because Jay was their original name, and after faking their death to go live with Jaxon, I was like "uh gender neutral name similar to Jay. Blue jay. That's a bird. Robin is a bird. Robin." Jay is actually her middle name now in this version!

I'm pretty sure Jaxon was chosen because I liked the name Jackson, but I wanted to spell it as Jaxon because X is meant to symbolize the unknown.

Holmes was supposed to be a one-off character. He was supposed to be in one scene. Oops! I made an entire character based off of him. Part of this one-off scene was a joke about "No shit, Sherlock" and he replied "Actually, my name is Holmes". He had a few other names, the only one I remember being Sebastian. I chose this one because he's a merman and I really liked the song "Gay Pirates" by Cosmo Jarvis (TW for rape, violence, and homophobia).

Not much reasoning for Bailey. It was a gender neutral name and cute. Did you know Bailey means bailiff or berry clearing? I just looked that up. It has nothing to do with her but the name itself fits her

Charles used to be Reese. I only found that out recently because it didn't stick at all. I then changed to Charlie, but I already have an informal OC named Charlie (they're a little round birb who's constantly grumpy and done with everyone's antics) so I decided on Charles.

Adrienne was taken from an old OC from a scrapped project. His name was Adrian but I decided on the feminine form for Adrienne. It's a cool name.

For Etienne I wanted an E name and ended up looking at French names. Etienne means crown or garland which fits because he was a king. It was a bonus that it went with Adrienne.

Shiko's name is made of the kanji for death (死) and child (子). He's supposed to be a bit of an edgy dude and I knew I wanted to have a name I could use the kanji for death in. That's the writing he chose; the original is 史壷 (the kanji for history and jar).

Neil is a reference to Neil Cicierega. He's a truck, Neil Cicierega sang Two Trucks, boom his name is Neil

Kami is just spelled in hiragana as opposed to kanji. I chose it because God, but kami can also mean hair or paper. She also has a couple different names and I remember one had "ka" and "mi" in it. I'm thinking she derived Kami from that since the name isn't an associated kanji

None of them officially own pets yet but I love the idea of Jaxon having a lizard! I also think Holmes would have a cat that would quickly become Bailey's after he moves in because said cat became attached to her :3 Etienne would have a St. Bernard and Neil would have a rat
