Character Intro: Trochilus (Kingdom of Ichor)

Nicknames- Lord of the Mills by the people of Olympius

Troy by his brother and friends

Babe by his wife

Dad by his sons

Uncle T by his nephew

Age- 34 (immortal)

Location- Achaea, Olympius

Personality- He's content with his status as a minor deity and has satisfaction in his work; not having the need to be awarded with attention & praise. He wants to enjoy the comforts of immortal life without the drama of the pantheon. He's married.

He has the standard abilities of a god except shapeshifting. As god of the mill wheel his other powers/abilities include rodakinesis (wheel manipulation), flour generation/manipulation, and being able to telekinetically control farming equipment.

Trochilus is the younger brother of Triptolemus (god of farming). Other members of his immediate family include his wife Promylaia, his father-in-law Cyamites (god of beans), his sister-in-law Eunostos (goddess of the flour mill), his nephew Deipneus (god of cooking & breadmaking), as well as his sons Matton (god of meals) and Keraon (god of baking & wine mixing).

He shares a thirty acre farmland with his older brother & Eunostos. Trochilus and his wife live on the property in a modern farmhouse style home. Promylaia did all of the interior design. Most of the walls (except for the kitchen & bathrooms) are covered in a gorgeous pastel mint green wallpaper patterned with gold shears of wheat. There's a great mix of modern and vintage furniture pieces- like the china that displays his wife's collection of antique gravy bowls. There's also a wraparound porch, many windows, ceramic and clay pottery pieces, rustic lighting, & natural wood flooring.

Trochilus is a native of Eleusis. He doesn't remember much of his early years. After officially becoming a deity, he does remember traveling to Corinth to help out in the Titanomachy by feeding troops in the Olympian Army. As a medic, Trochilus saw the horrors of the soldiers returning from the battlefields- deceased & horrifically injured. He was under the mentorship of Eumolpus, an Eleusinian demi-god who has since faded.

He'll start off most mornings with a hot shower & a ride through the farm on his horse Bluebell.

One of the greatest gifts he's ever recieved is an Imperial Gold pin in the shape of a mill wheel from his brother. He wears the pin on his shirts daily.

Trochilus and his wife take turns in the kitchen. He loves when she makes a HUGE spread for breakfast- rizogalo, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage gravy, and her delicious honey butter biscuits! He also knows that she loves when he makes gaeran jim along with baesuk. On the days he's late for work, Trochilus will settle for a bowl of Golly Grains honey o's cereal or an ultra crunchy granola bar.

He loves listening to country, folk, bluegrass, jazz, & rock music. His favorite musical act is the folk rock band Chapters of Lore whose lead singer is his one of his good friends Pan (god of the wild, satyrs, shepherds, & rustic music).

A go-to drink for him is cheongju, a refined rice wine. He also likes his homemade banana milk, sujeonggwa, mineral water, his wife's honey citrus lemonade, red wine, mint juleps, cola, white wine, champagne, ginger ale, hard cider beer, good farmer cocktails, and mimosas. His usuals from The Roasted Bean is a large espresso & an olympian sized coconut-banana splash.

Trochilus keeps in shape through working out and taekwondo.

He doesn't mind that he doesn't have a temple built in his honor. He feels that the true mark of a deity is the service they provide for all beings.

Trochilus is grateful for his brother and is proud of all of his accomplishments. They enjoy their time together when they're not working- like playing football at the nearby park, checking out a baseball game on TV or at a stadium, or traveling to Athens for a game of golf with their father-in-law. He was the first to know about his brother's past with Demeter (goddess of the harvest & agriculture).

His all time favorite frozen treat is bingsu, especially the mango one. He also enjoys Triptolemus' homemade pear ice cream.

In the pantheon, Trochilus is known for his savory bulgogi.

He's had a few love affairs with dryads, anthousai, and leimonaiads before Promylaia. Their initial meeting was a meet cute set up by his brother & Eunostos. He's forever grateful that they meddled in his love life.

He loves snacking on spicy tzatziki flavored potato chips.

Trochilus often says that Promylaia is the best thing that ever happened to him with the other great moments being the birth of their sons. She's his best friend & amourous lover that Trochilus shares everything with- fear, doubts, and insecurities. With having a great business relationship, they enjoy their time together outside of work as well. Whether it's checking out a new restaurant, going for an early evening walk, skinny dipping in their private pond, or even incorporating food in their lovemaking!

His primary source of income is from the business he co-owns with his wife, brother, & sister-in-law- The Achaean Flour Company. Their various types of flour are sold in supermarkets and grocery stores throughout Olympius. Trochilus designed the company's logo. He's also a member of the Farming Union of Olympius.

Trochilus' nephew has a sandwich inspired by him at The Bread Box, Deipneus' restaurant business. The gilgeori toast sandwich consists of lightly toasted milk bread, a fried egg, shredded cabbage, fried ham, green onions, spicy ketchup, and sliced cheese.

A guilty pleasure of his is kimchi pizza. On the weekends he and his wife will order a few olympian sized pizzas. He loves drizzling sriracha on them!

Trochilus is an avid baseball fan! His favorite team is the Achaean Aces. He hopes the team will make it to the upcoming Olympian Series, the country's biggest baseball event. A few months ago, he really enjoyed checking out a baseball game (featuring the Aces) along with his sons and nephew at Olympian Field. They enjoyed their eating of soft baked pretzels, gyro hot dogs, tzatziki popcorn, and a seemingly neverending cups of beer costing three drachmas.

He loves his sons a great deal. He looks forward to when they visit home, but he also doesn't mind traveling to New Olympus to see them. They all (along with Triptlemus & Deipneus) often play basketball together. Even though he doesn't have a favorite child, Trochilus often finds himself closer to Matton.

He holds the most respected agricultural deity Eubouleus (god of the swine & ploughing) in high regard. In the pantheon he's also good friends with Corymbus (Cory) (god of the ivy), Hestia (goddess of the hearth), Záchari (god of confectionery), Kópros (god of manure & excrement), Apólafsi (god of enjoyment), Oeno (goddess of berries & wine), Karmanor (demi-god of the harvest), Spermo (goddess of grains), and Priapus (god of fertility, vegetable gardens, livestock, sexuality, & masculinity).

Trochilus' favorite dessert is his wife's tarte à la bouillie. He also likes Eunostos' beignets and his brother's songpyeon.

From Olympic Chef, he loves the extra crispy fried calamari with sriracha dipping sauce.

Trochilus went above and beyond when planning his wife's surprise party for her recent birthday. With Eunostos' help, he rented a space at Vasileia Hall, a popular banquet hall in the Hearthwood neighborhood of New Olympus. The party had a western theme and he hired a live band that performed all their favorite country hits! There was an aesthetic seating area for the guests with fake hay bales & cowhide printed blankets. There was also a DIY cowboy hat station where guests could decorate their own cowboy hats! Drinks served there included espresso martinis, old fashioneds, whiskey sours, and whiskey lemonade. The menu included cowboy caviar served with tortilla chips, bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers, chili cheese hot dogs, fried chicken, moussaka, & baked mac n' cheese. The birthday girl was of course elated and all the guests enjoyed themselves! Hestia made the birthday cake- a doberge cake. After the cutting of cake, Trochilus gave Promylaia one of her birthday gifts- a pancake stack jeweled clutch from Diamond Ave. Matton and Keraon presented their mom with a caricature portrait they did of the entire family.

He is a proud gourmand! The ultimate foodie! Trochilus feels like a kid in a candy store anytime he's trying out the latest street food or restaurant. He finds a certain quality in all eateries from casual dining and fast food to fine dining & food trucks. A lot of Trochilus' posts on his Fatestagram page is a food lover's dream.

In Achaea's capital Patras, he found a food truck that has some of his favorite street food ever like hotteok, tteokbokki, lamb gyros, and dakgangjeong.

Trochilus is also planning a trip with Cory to Athens for the state's annual olive festival.

His favorite meal is his wife's jambalaya with seafood gumbo.

In his free time he enjoys cooking, baking, football (soccer), bike riding, playing video games, line dancing, reading, bowling, swimming, and sailing

Festival Chuseok

Pra quem mora na Coreia do Sul e pra quem nasceu aqui, todos sabem que o Chuseok terá início no dia 16 de setembro esse ano e vai até o dia 18 de setembro. E é claro que não deixaríamos essa data importante passar.

É feriado, moradores de Haesun! Vocês vão aproveitar de forma?

Chuseok, também conhecido como Gabae ou Hangawi, é um festival de colheita de três dias amplamente celebrado na Coreia do Sul. Realizado no d��cimo quinto dia (o dia da lua cheia) do oitavo mês lunar, Chuseok significa "noite de outono" e pode ser entendido como a "noite de outono com a lua mais brilhante."

Nossa programação será: festival lunar no sábado, domingo é dia de almoço na cozinha cerimonial do Haseun e segunda? Vocês podem prestar homenagem aos mortos e seguir para o Haedong Yonggung para a degustação de comidas típicas da data!

O festival acontece no sábado no Citizens Park (em busajin) às 12 horas e conta com barraquinhas de comida para alimentar o pessoal disposto a embarcar nessa aventura!

Barraquinhas de lembrancinhas estarão vendendo amuletos para atrair prosperidade, amor, proteção, afastar maus espíritos, pessoas indesejadas e o azar.

Domingo é dia de almoçar com os vizinhos no cerimonial do Haesun! E o almoço começará às 12 horas e contará com japchae, kimchijeon (panqueca de kimchi), gamjajeon (panqueca de batata), haemulpajeon (panqueca de frutos do mar), songpyeon, baesuk, ganjeong e muitas frutas.

Durante a noite, às 20 horas, a nossa xamã contará histórias relacionadas ao Chuseok para os vizinhos com disposição para escutá-las em volta da fogueira.

Segunda é dia de prestar homenagem aos mortos, mas dia de degustação de vinhos de arroz. Afinal, o feriado vai até dia 18, então está liberado beber em plena segunda-feira.

A degustação acontece no local no Haedong Yonggung, às 11 horas e contará com Sindoju e Dongdongju, os vinhos mais famosos durante o Chuseok. E tudo isso seguido de apresentações de Ganggangsullae (dança folclórica), música tradicional e jogos para quem quiser aprender a jogar yutnori ou ssireum.

Notas da moderação

Por se tratar de um feriado prolongado, deixamos diversas opções para o personagem que for ficar em Busan com a família.

O evento principal é o festival lunar no sábado, o restante dos dias é para aproveitar comidas típicas, entre os outros.

Todos os estabelecimentos comerciais estarão fechados do dia 16 ao 18/09, sendo folga para o funcionários.

O feriado começa dia 16 e termina dia 18, e como sabemos que é feriado para passar com a família, não tem problema algum viajar nesses dias.

Após uma confusão que aconteceu durante a execução do evento da feira das nações em 2023, Nikos definiu a denominada Feira das Nações como um evento anual, onde todo os estabelecimentos se encontrariam obrigatoriamente fechados, com exceção da Asklepios e das lojas de conveniência para que, dessa forma, possibilite uma maior participação da grande maioria dos moradores nas atividades especiais, que visam compartilhar conhecimento sobre as culturas de seus vizinhos e até mesmo da própria. Sendo assim, como no ano anterior, após analisar os locais natais dos moradores através do cadastro na recepção do condomínio, o grego contratou vários funcionários que pudessem representar e falar com propriedade a respeito de cada cultura, além, é claro, de chefes especializados para a recriação de pratos típicos.

Foi encaminhado para as caixas de correio de cada apartamento e casa o convite especial que informava tudo sobre a volta do evento mais rico em conhecimento do complexo.

“Com a reserva do Country Club mais próximo do condomínio, no intuito de trazer maior liberdade a respeito de espaço para as atividades e contando com o nome de todos os moradores na lista de entrada, venho informar que vocês estão convidados para a maravilhosa FEIRA DAS NAÇÕES! i can’t help but wonder if amomk!jin’s decision to look for a job in town right after college had anything to do with him being the oldest…?

so when my dad died of cancer, my eldest brother halted his dreams of moving across the globe for his masters program to stay and take care of us. he used to have this huge poster of his dream school on his bedroom wall and the day after the funeral the poster was nowhere to be found. my mom tried so hard to convince him to go but he was just like school is school wherever it is. years later he did admit to me that he’d chosen to let go of his dreams because he didn’t have it in him to leave us because he was the eldest.

obviously in amomk!jin’s case mr. kim didn’t die but i just wonder if it was just the eldest kid in him that subconsciously dictated his decision to stay close by his parents in case shit happened.

Thank you so much for sharing that touching story. A tough thing, no doubt. But what love your brother has for you to feel comfortable making that sacrifice. Gotta say that I have similar stories of my own, and across my family, and it's something that we're actively exploring in AMOMK.
