EXRAORDINARY ATTORNEY WOO   //  KDRAMA DİZİ YORUMU
UYARI : Yazılar genel olarak spoiler içerebilir. İçermeyedebilir.
İmdb puanı : 9,1 Benim puanım: 9
Drama: Extraordinary Attorney Woo (English title) / Strange Lawyer Woo Young-Woo (literal title)
Hangul:
Director: Yu In-Sik
Writer: Moon Ji-Won
Date: 2022
Language: Korean
Country: South Korea
Cast: Park Eun-Bin, Kang Tae-Oh, Kang Ki-Young, Baek Ji-Won, Ha Yoon-Kyung, Joo Jong-Hyuk, Jin Kyung, Jeon Bae-Su, Joo Hyun-Young, Im Sung-Jae

Love Attack (2023)
Tumblr media
Genre: Comedy, Romance
Plot:
Tired of always being ranked second in class behind Kyung J00, Seok Jin decides to try to distract her from studying by launching a "love attack" on his academic rival.
Cast & Crew:
Kim Do Hoon as Cha Seok Jin
Chae Won Bin as Kang Kyung Joo
Supporting cast - Heo Jin, Park Sung Joon, Nam Joong Gyu, Baek Hyo Won, Han Ye Ji
Director - Lee Hyun Kyung
Screen Writer - Choi Yi Kyung
Music:
The chosen music fit the drama special well.
Awards: Best Actress in Drama Special/TV Cinema (Chae Won Bin) - KBS Drama Awards 2023
Overall:
It’s been way too long since my last drama special, long time no see!
Tumblr media
So many people told me about how cute this one was so I’ve been saving it for a rainy day. I’ve been sick for the last couple of weeks and the weather is miserable so I decided it was time. My sources were correct, this drama special is certified adorable and had me smiling, laughing and almost crying along the way.
Tumblr media
The story centres on Seok Jin who appears to have it all - looks, money, brains, however, he is perpetually stuck in second place thanks to his rival number one student Kyung Joo who despite working a million part time jobs still takes the number one spot. Things are going to change, however, as Kyung Joo is taking off to study abroad… or is she? How can Seok Jin possibly change his fate as a second place student? Hint: it’s the title of the drama… A LOVE ATTACK!
Tumblr media
This drama special has a lot of things I like in a drama; fake dating, cute youthful hijinx, cast chemistry, a cute halmeoni, gorgeous countryside trips with autumn foliage, shots of delicious food, and a nice backing track. All this combined into an almost perfect watch experience for me.
Tumblr media
I think that the writer did a decent job plotting out the story over the just short time frame, honouring the lead character’s journeys. Although it was so cute I could have taken a little more than what we got. Based on this I am now keen to watch the writer’s other special Dog Days of Summer.
Tumblr media
Throughout the drama I was often reminded of Park Hyung Shik and Park Shin Hye’s characters in Doctor Slump as if these kids could be an alternate universe version of them. I loved those characters and their journey too.
Tumblr media
The cast were all familiar faces and they did a good job of making their roles believable from the sad drunk friend to the sweet little halmeoni who doesn’t want her granddaughter missing out on life experiences.
Tumblr media
Overall, I really enjoyed this drama special and if you are in need of something short and sweet it’s well worth a watch.
Rating: 9.5/10

Doctor Cha (2023)
Tumblr media
I got a fever, and the only prescription is more melodramas!
I usually hate love triangles, but it wasn’t so bad with this show. I think it helped that the entire premise was so unbelievable that I was able to just sit back and embrace the chaos.
What Worked
The show did a great job at letting you know what you were in for right from the first episode—an over the top, unrealistic situation with fun characters. The entire plot was building towards this dramatic train wreck where the protagonist (who was almost too good to be true) hit the final straw, and gave the terrible husband and mother-in-law exactly what they deserved. And that whole part of the story was completely engrossing.
What Didn’t Work
The writers didn’t bungle the ending, I still liked it, but I think they played it a little safe. All of the messed up relationships that were causing the delicious drama wrapped up on mostly good terms. That’s a nice story in a way, but I don’t think it was as cathartic.
Still, it’s a better story than real life, where men like the cheating husband often end up prospering, without really learning their lesson.
The Performances
Uhm Jung-hwa as “Doctor Mom” Cha Jeong-suk. I first saw this actress in “Our Blues” and I really liked her in that. Though the writing in this show isn’t quite as good, her performance in this show was just as good and even better in some respects. Really fun to watch this actress at work.
Kim Byung-chul as “Dirty Cheating Doctor” Seo In-ho. His character was supposed to be both pathetic and hate-able and the actor hit the brief very well. A lot of the charm in this show was watching him get his just desserts and suffer, while still being an unrepentant jerk.
It’s not exactly hate watching when the show clearly wants you to hate him. The fact that I never got tired of watching him, shows just how good his acting was.
Myung Se-bin as “Lady Cheating Doctor” Choi Seung-hee. This actor had a tough job to do. The writers kept shifting her motivation and relationships around and overall she did a good job making it work. I think her best scenes were with Eun-Seo, but she was still okay to watch overall.
Min Woo-hyuk as “The Good Doctor” Roy Kim. I enjoyed his performance. It was fun watching him go in and ruffle everyone’s feathers by being a good guy who doesn’t take anyone’s nonsense. I think his arc mostly peaked early though and he was less interesting towards the end of the series.
Song Ji-ho as “Doctor Son” Seo Jung-min. He had some great comic moments and I enjoyed watching his relationship with the girlfriend. It did take some time for him to really get interesting, though.
Jo Ah-ram as “Doctor Girlfriend” Jeon So-ra. I loved this character. I really enjoyed her relationships with both Jeong-suk and Jung-min.
Baek Joo-hee as “Doctor Bestie” Baek Mi-hee. A good example of how a good actor can make even a side character interesting. I especially liked the episode where she helped Yi-rang after she got in a fight.
Park Joon-geum as “The Worst Mother-in-Law” Kwak Ae-sim. I really disliked this character. Which means she did a good job because that was exactly what I was supposed to feel.
Kim Mi-kyung as “The Best Omma” Oh Deok-rye. She’s played a role like this so many times and yet I never get tired of seeing her because she still keeps it from being boring or repetitive. A national treasure.
Lee Seo-yeon as “The Good Daughter” Seo Yi-rang. She did a good job with the role she was given and had some great moments, but there were times when she disappeared in a scene. Pretty good overall though.
So A-rin as “The Best Daughter” Choi Eun-seo. They played it like she was some kind of emotionally unstable child in the first few episodes, which was unfortunate because the character was actually one of the most interesting and honest characters in the show. And she was mistreated by everyone.
The show was at its best when they let this actor loose, and I was really impressed by her performance.
Everyone Else. The show did have a few good moments for its minor characters, but most of the time they weren’t memorable or doing anything important.
TL; DR:
This is a show made for people who like melodramas. If you’re able to turn off the nitpicking part of your brain and enjoy the ride, it’s pretty dang fun.

OUR BLUES // KDRAMA DİZİ YORUMU
UYARI : Yazılar genel olarak spoiler içerebilir. İçermeyedebilir.
İmdb puanı: 8,6 Benim puanım: 9
Drama: Our Blues (literal title)
Hangul:
Director: Kim Kyu-Tae
Writer: No Hee-Kyung
Date: 2022
Language: Korean
Country: South Korea
Cast: Lee Byung-Hun, Shin Min-A, Han Ji-Min, Kim Woo-Bin, Ko Du-Shim, Cho Hye-Jung, Baek Seung-Do, Lee Jung-Eun, Park Ji-Hwan, Choi Young-Joon, Roh Yoon-Seo, Bae Hyun-Sung
Her biri kendi hikayelerini bizlere anlatarak sahneden ayrılıyorlardı.
Ji-Min’i ise oyunculuk anlamında baya başarılı buluyorum.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo is undoubtedly the best legal drama I've watched in 2022. Its a beautifully crafted TV show with a gripping storyline, yet the acting is incredibly professional and realistic, depicting the notable experiences of an autistic attorney working at a major law firm in Korea whilst having to face prejudice of society.
The drama is fantastic in many ways. One of the biggest reasons why its a must-watch is its episodic nature. For the past couple weeks I've been craving episode after the other, wondering what happens next - yes, its entirely addictive and enjoyable to watch. Each episode is a new law case the main character Woo Young-Woo has to work on, as well as showing further progression in Woo Young-Woo and her co-worker Lee Jun-ho's relationship. Not only is the plot easy to follow, but has a refreshing flair to it, one that is light-hearted, unique, and sends a great message about how society should support and treat those physically or mentally disabled equally, and despite someone's mental dysfunctions, people should have each other's backs instead of bringing each other down.
Woo Young-Woo is one of my favourite K-Drama characters ever due to her cheerful disposition and undeniable intelligence. Her obsession with whales and dolphins is just the cutest! Likewise, her relationship with Lee Jun-ho is so adorable and carefree, and is paced very well throughout the show. The actress of Woo Young-Woo, Park Eun-bin, has a forte in playing the part and demonstrated adeptness in her ability to master difficult lines and autistic representations. To be honest, all the actors on the show are unbelievably talented in every way, and portrayed their roles with aptitude and skill.
Overall, the show was a big hit and deserves the praise it is getting. The comical dialogue, scintillating humor and workplace romance was all I needed! Needless to say, Extraordinary Attorney Woo is a totally binge-worthy K-drama with outstanding finesse and filmography, one you can sit back and relax to, promised to make your day. :) -  Janet CHUANG

Extraordinary Attorney Woo

In these past years the advocacy for inclusiveness and representation has been strong. In the United States it focuses on African Americans, minorities and the LGBT+ communities. There are other communities that lack representation and inclusiveness, marginalized because they experience the world differently than the masses. The doors slowly opening for some of them. I think of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing people, the blind, others with down syndrome, autism, ext. Their stories are valid, and they should be heard. Inclusiveness and representation needs to also be about these people that have been marginalized for too long.
Conservative cultures tend to make people ashamed of having relatives who don't fall into what society deems acceptable or "normal." In Korean Drama we saw a male main character who had autism be a genius in the medicine field - Good Doctor - which was a great drama and Jon Woo's performance was beautiful. In It's Okay Not to Be Okay, we also have a memorable male character with autism. In Our Blues we had actresses and actors who have down syndrome show how they can also be productive in society with love, understanding and guidance. It was sad to see how these characters were abandoned by family and only had their care giver to support them. And now in Extraordinary Attorney Woo we have a female main character who has autism make her mark in the law profession. I liked the series. I think that it not only gives a voice to people with autism, but it also present other important issues: discrimination against women in the work force, motherhood and a career possibility, mental health, questions double standards (among friends when it comes to money and that of rich parents and their children), children's lives and parents' obsession with academics, and how people see love between people who are in two spectrums of society: the one that is accepted by society and the other one marginalized by it. This series poses issues that we need to ponder on. There were a lot of hard and difficult questions posed in the series through the different cases they took on. It is a criticism to their society and I like that about this series. They are things that need to change for the well being of every member of a country.
I would like to see people who have been marginalized find a space where they can share their voices, their stories. . . They have the same right as everyone else to see representation in media and also feel genuinely included in the world they live in.
I truly loved the characters in this series, all of them felt real to me. It made me smile, cry and think through the issues presented. To see her and Jun Ho fall in love was so sweet and sad. The series also left me wondering why CEO Han doesn't like Tae Soo Mi, I guess we'll find out in the second season that I think will be coming in the future.
It is a series that I recommend to anyone.
