“Please be careful,” Carlos said, handing the keys over. “What is my car?” “Not half as pretty as the man who owns it,” TK said, batting his eyelashes flirtatiously.

Carlos crossed his arms. “TK…”

“Fine”. TK sighed dramatically. “Your car is an eight-year-old piece of heavy machinery in good condition with good tire pressure, two windshield wipers and you expect it to come home tonight the same way”.

“TK, have you still not replaced the wiper that flew off your car?” Carlos exclaimed. “Baby, we’re talking about your car,” TK said, taking his husband’s hands and squeezing them. “And remember, my car is being fixed right now”.

“That storm was almost a month ago!” his husband exclaimed. “You drove around with only one windshield wiper for almost a month?” “Maybe,” TK said as he looked away. “But,” he added brightly, “no storms are projected for today, so we should be good. I’ll text you when I get to her place”. He planned to peck Carlos on the cheek and dash out the door, but his husband saw this coming a mile away and wrapped his arms around TK’s waist.

“Not so fast, you,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to TK’s temple. “What is something you’re not going to do in the Camaro today?”

“Eat Cheetos,” TK answered. Carlos nodded expectantly. “Or…?” “Or nachos”. TK added. “Yes”. Carlos nodded again. “Or tacos. Or tater tots, or anything that you would eat and then wipe your hands on the seats”. “Not like it’s a super common occurrence”. TK muttered mutinously as he headed for the door. “But one snackcident, and I’m marked for life”. “Yes, I want you to text me when you get there”. Carlos said, opening and leaning on the door frame. “And no, snackcident is not a word”. TK whirled around the in the doorway. “If Jake Peralta says it, then it is”. “If Captain Holt would call him on it, then no, it isn’t”. Carlos replied.

There was a very real chance Isabelle had sent her on a wild goose chase, but after a quick search of the system had revealed that there was indeed a 'Louis Jack Thackery' registered in Vievecor City, the detective had decided she'd rather be played by a millennia-old vampire than risk someone getting hurt because she’d dropped a lead.

The crowd at The Dancing Bull was both a little too young and a little too loud for Jo's taste, but the moment she caught sight of him, she knew this couldn't be a coincidence. The young man crooning his heart out on stage, his trusty guitar casually balanced on one knee, didn’t just bear a striking resemblance to Phantom Creak's Louis Holt—he was the same guy.

Waiting for him to finish his set so she could catch him before he left, Jo ordered herself a beer. When that failed to drown out the supposed 'memories' of Louis sleeping with her husband, she switched to a gin and tonic, all the while badgering the bartender for information on the singer.

By the time the fifth song rolled around, another man, around Louis' age, leaned against the bar next to her, promising he could arrange for her to meet Louis if she wanted to. It was immediately apparent that he had gotten the wrong message, but convincing him otherwise seemed pointless. What did it matter what he thought, if it guaranteed her a chance to speak to Louis one-on-one?

thoughts after reading 4 random Redwall books for the first time in about 15 years

general:

I love the books that don't take place when Redwall existed. In later books, it's obvious to tell that there's a formula and the Abbey really hammers it home

I know it's chronologically 1st and published 13th but them calling Brocktree the First Badger Lord makes no sense when Stonepaw was there.

isn't it funny how, outside of Badger Lords, it's a bit more common to see major characters with offspring they know about be villains than heroes? most of the time it's a mention in the epologue for the goodbeasts "and they lived hetero ever after"

but there's just as often enough good beasts who never marry and never have children and that made an impact on small me because they still make a difference

I think this has the best setup but the weakest execution and it's pigeon holed by the fact that villain species are often pigeonholed

the hero literally beats someone to a bloody pulp with a spiked mace. they fuckin' die. I know redwall books don't shy away from the deaths of characters and it's not graphic but it's still kind of 'holy shit' when I read that at my big age.

the stories with the goodbeasts are really interesting and while it's not odd because of the vastness of the world, Holt Ruddawake is pretty cool

speaking of deaths that are oddly glossed over, someone being mauled to death by jackdaws is kind of glossed over in the actual action??? the aftermath is very sad but ... ok I guess.

The only downside is the sampetra bits because it don't fucking matter my dude. it ain't even interesting. Marlfox did it better.

Als Türschild oder auch als Tischschild, der Badger2040 von @pimoroni hat bietet uns viele Möglichkeiten.

Eigentlich ist der Badger2040 ganu das was sein Name sagt. Ein Badge. Also ein Unternehmensausweis oder ein Namensschild, so wie auf dem nachfolgenden bild zu sehen ist. Doch bei dem Badger2040 handelt es sich nunmal um ein programmierbares display auf der Basis der eInk Technologie bzw. des eInk Prinzips. bedeutet, ist der Badger ohne Strom bleibt die letzte Anzeige erhalten.

Verbunden am Computer mit Zugriff zum Internet kann er uns auch als Tischuhr dienen, denn er bietet und auch die Möglichkeit ihn als eine Uhr zu verwenden und das solange er am PC hängt auch als Real Time Clock (RTC). Dann holt er sich die aktuelle Uhrzeit aus dem Internet. Und weil man am Badger2040 auch eine(n) Batterie/Akku anschließen kann, wäre es kein Problem den Badger nachdem der sich die aktuelle Uhrzeit erstmal besorgt hat auch zu nutzen ohnen an den Computer angeschlossen zu sein. Das eigentlich tolle daran ist, dass die Bilderneuerungsrate beim Bader2040 so gut ist, um auch Dekunden anzuzeigen.

Aber um auf unser eigentliches Thema zu kommen, der Badger2040 wäre auch hervorragend als Türschild oder Namensschild auf dem Schreibtisch einsetzbar. Er bietet uns den Vorteil ihn jeder Zeit einfach anders zu programmieren. Für genau diese Verwendung habe ich mir ein entsprechendes Micropython Script geschrieben. Wird das Programm auf dem Notebook/Chromebook gestartet, werden die Informationen einer Raumnummer, Mitarbeiternamen und der Funktion abgefragt und im Anschluss auf einen via USB Kabel mit dem Rechner verbundenen Badger2040 übertragen.

Da es nur drei kleine Eingaben sind ist das auch über den Terminal ganz fix erledigt. Natürlich könnte man dazu auch noch ein TKinter mit einer kleinen Eingabe-GUI programmieren oder es mit einem kleinen Umweg auch als Website Formular realisieren.

How do you feel about the battle?

"What?! I can't believe that this is my first battle and I'm out. (Sighs) I guess I chose the wrong place to make a rocky start like this. I won't forget this first experience. But I hope that Keith will win this battle for me because it's very important and he's left behind with other artists that I knew of."

Who would you want to win the battle?

"Definitely, Keith. I didn't realize that Matt is also in the battle, that guy would win. But if someone isn't belong to our universe, I would say Jay. I know he's funny like me and he made himself closer to the end."

At Brookings, Anna wants to keep up her stellar academic performance and to investigate the unsolved campus murder of her childhood babysitter. She there she also finds a familiar face – her middle-school rival, Chris Lu. The Lus also happen to be the Xu family’s business rivals since they opened Sunny’s, a trendy new bakery on Sweetea’s block. Chris is cute but still someone to be wary of – until a vandal hits Sunny’s and Anna matches the racist tag with a clue from her investigation.

Anna grew up in this town, but more and more she feels like maybe she isn’t fully at home here — or maybe it’s that there are people here who think she doesn’t belong. When a very specific threat is made to Anna, she seeks out help from the only person she can. Anna and Chris team up to find out who is stalking her and take on a dangerous search into the hate crimes happening around campus. Can they root out the ugly history and take on the current threat?
